If Unthinkable acts as the foundation for Dricki then I would say Hold On We're Going Home acts as a solid pillar that holds up this relationship in between fantasy and reality. At first glance this song would seem like the standard, romantic mainstay to a rhythmic, melodic hip-hop infused r&b album — but it is far deeper than that. Drake, out of his own mouth, views Hold On We're Going Home as a wedding song. In an interview with MTV Drake is quoted: "It's not a rap record," he added. "It's not 'Versace,' it's not 'Started From the Bottom.' In approaching this album I was like man, it would be great if we had a record that was played at weddings in 10 years or that people that are away from their families in the army could listen to." To make matters even more interesting, there's this famous clip of Drake being asked by a woman about what the song was about. He asks the girl her name and she replies, "Nikki." Drake is seen smiling and simply comments, "ironic." Ironic indeed.

Drake starts off by singing, "I got my eyes on you/You're everything that I see/I want your hot love and emotion endlessly." What makes this line so interesting is that at the time Drake was creating this, he admits that he wasn't ready for commitment yet. But despite not being ready to commit, he can't stop thinking about this woman. He gets in the same room with her and now suddenly she's all that he sees, and he becomes engulfed in a tidal wave of emotions as he sees her (reality), while still fantasizing about what they could be. Then he sings, "I can't get over you/You left your mark on me/I want your hot love and emotion endlessly." Still in the realm of fantasy, I believe that around this time Drake struggled with differentiating between his strong romantic/lustful feelings for Nicki and his more "platonic" friendship feelings for Nicki. They were friends in reality, but even without entirely being ready to commit yet, he still daydreamed about her.

Drake in the pre-chorus sings: "'Cause you're a good girl and you know it/You act so different around me." Drake has always said that he prefers when Nicki is more like "Onika". Less makeup, less stage theatrics, but more of the natural sensualness she exudes when she's by herself. For the chorus Drake sings: "Just hold on, we're going home/It's hard to do these things alone." I believe that this line can be taken figuratively. Figuratively speaking, Drake is trying to convince the woman he's falling for to "just hold on" because even though he's not ready for commitment yet, he will be in the future. When all is said and done — he'd rather be "going home" with her (Nicki). But he's struggling at the moment because he doesn't want to be alone. It's the inverse of the song Unthinkable. In Unthinkable, Drake wants to wait for Nicki. In Hold On We're Going Home, Drake wants Nicki to wait for him.

In theory, if the show understood systemic inequality and accountability, they would have Home righting the wrongs that Kan is exposing, using his family's influence to put in place checks to prevent anyone including themselves from ever doing similar cover-ups, and then breaking apart the family wealth, and "righting" the family reputation that way.

But I am sorry to say that based on what we've seen, I am very skeptical that's what we're going to get.

ugh sorry for taking a while to get to this. The problem is I feel like the only two ways to answer this are by spending a week and a half of full time labor sifting through old posts and evidence to get every detail right and lay out an airtight case, or to halfass something very serious, and so I felt a little stuck. So since I can't seem to find a good halfway point, apologies but here is the half assed version, if you want to get into it more I invite you to do your own deep dive or talk to other people, but here's how I remember things. Louis has almost never on video explicitly said things about Larry not being real and/or anything negative about fans and their theories (mostly the opposite), up until the last couple years when he obviously decided to make a major change he didn't talk about Freddie much at all let alone saying he was his kid, honestly not that much about Eleanor even; except for in two major interviews with Dan Wootton, each of which lined up with a serious traumatic Tomlinson family event that they managed to keep out of the tabloids until the very end (Jay's illness and Fizzy's struggles with substance abuse). After the fact of those events a lot of small things that didn't make sense at the time came together to look very much like Louis traded those interviews (and those answers) for having his family's private matters kept private. Story trading of this kind is a publicly known real thing that happens, and there were various clues that suggested he was being leaned on about those stories to lend legitimacy to the idea that it was something that happened in these cases. Given what we know about Dan Wootton and how he operates even before the recent flood of information and even more now, I think it's more than likely that he has been holding the threat of outing Louis (as he has done to many other public figures) over his head for over a decade, and has used his family's tragic struggles to get Louis to dance like a fucking puppet for him and I will REJOICE at his downfall when it comes whether it is now or 20 years from now... because someday it will, he has made too many enemies to stay above it forever

Stickmintober 2024 Day 29: Monster

Oh no! Someone's dried out all of the fruit in the orchard! Who could the culprit be?! Definitely NOT the local vampire who doesn't drink blood, THAT'S for sure!

Ugh, poor Dave's fangs look so awful; not cute at all! Though I guess he does need bigger, duller fangs to use as straws for the fruit he eats.

I like to imagine that some of the fruit was fermented, so Dave got a little tipsy; hence why ALL OF THE FRUIT is unusable. Rupert and Johnny know what's up; Dave's gonna have to sleep outside tomorrow morning...
