Anyways, the Gresley family brainrot be hitting hard and now I have HOISNY related lore relating to Smoldon (Greendon) & smol Scotsman (feat. Great Northern).

This instead of thinking about the LBSCR lore & Thomas shenanigans.

Might work it into a HOISNY-based series of oneshots… Probably. Trust me the current thing I have is a wall of text that appeared to me in a dream and it works LMAO.

Did you know that when the LNER London to Edinburgh train - the Flying Scotsman - was running low on supplies, the driver and fireman would write a message on a slip of paper, put it in a potato from the dining car, chuck said potato at the signal box, the signalman would phone ahead to the next station to pass the message on and the train could stock up. This was effective

You've got the prestigious LNER engines like the Gresley Pacifics and the Peppercorn Pacifics and so on. AND THEY'RE CHUCKING SPUDS FROM THE CABS

BEHOLD! The Flying Scotsman and the way messages were passed from engine to the signal box!

To the author/Loraine, what's your favorite bit of lore that your working on for HOISNY? Is it important to the story, is it just a minor yet personal add-on, does it bring up a future plot, ooh gosh I'm curious!

Oh! My favourite bit of lore.. This is a really good question I’m ngl XD

I think my favourite bit of lore for HOISNY are things that aren’t really explored that deeply in canon and I can have fun and just dive into; i.e, Thomas finding out he’s the last E2, Gordon and Scotsman’s relationship, what Scotsman’s relationships with the other engines (on Sodor) would look like.

Some of them weren’t/were barely explored in the series/books and it gave me a lot of creative freedom. Of course, I did take inspiration from fanfics/aus I’d previously read/looked into, but ultimately it’s headcanon central station for me XD

I definitely loved trying to figure out where certain feelings stemmed from, specifically with the Gresley brothers, because it’s definitely a more complicated relationship and they do struggle with their feelings for each other (though this gets remedied later after a certain chain of events). Certain aspects of their lives triggers certain feelings and I think it works out well.

For Thomas; I’ll definitely be exploring more of my headcanon-lore for him in the sequel, as HOISNY itself focuses on Gordon & Scotsman, but I can’t wait to work on Thomas’s shenanigans because it goes deep.

I also LOVE referencing IRL accidents within the context of HOISNY; given that the main accident is inspired by an IRL happening. Same goes for one of Gordon’s prior accidents, which I’ll probably go into detail either later into HOISNY or in a seperate oneshot within the HOISNY context. (I’m kind of afraid to call this an AU because I don’t think it fits the bill, I’m sorry😭).

But things take a turn for the worse, when during the Race, an accident leaves them both extremely vulnerable. Truths that had previously been buried are worming their way to the surface again and after many, many years of avoiding it; Flying Scotsman and Gordon finally have to confront their feelings for each other.
