it baffles him that you could feel insecure in the relationship at all

he doesn’t take it personally, he knows it’s not his fault

he just thinks you’re so amazing and thinks it’s a blessing to be with you every day

and he feels like you’re way above his league

so it confuses him when you ask him if he’d still love you if you were a worm

because yeah??? he’ll love you in any way shape or form

he knows you just need a little extra reassurance and he’s more than happy to give it

he always makes your favorite meal when you’re feeling particularly down

and he holds you and plants many kisses all over your face as he reassures you that he’s not leaving and that you make him so happy

Hassian

while he comes off as abrasive when you first meet, he’s actually a very gentle lover

he’s very attentive to your emotions, so he can tell you’re feeling insecure even before you say anything by reading your body language

and by that time he’s already gone out and purchased a small gift for you to show his devotion and appreciation

he gifts it to you as soon as he comes home and pulls you into a hug

and he loves slow dancing with you

he puts on a record and twirls you around the kitchen as he whispers praises and promises to love you forever in your ear

Nai’o

it’s always unexpected when you express feeling insecure

your hints always go over his head so when you finally mention something, it puts him in a bit of a frenzy

did he say something wrong? was he not spending enough time with you? he knows the farm keeps him busy but he never wants to make you feel like you’re not a priority

and you have to do a little reassuring to him that he’s done everything right, you just have insecurities and anxiety

but once he gets it he will stop at nothing to make sure you feel secure

his go-to method is a bouquet of flowers and a heartfelt letter professing his love for you and everything he loves about you

all your quirks and habits, and he sings you praises

all the letters are tearstained from how happy they make you to read

he’s the kind of boyfriend that likes to sit and admire what’s his

so while you lay in bed or sit on the couch, he just gazes into your eyes until you become bashful

he just thinks you’re so kind and beautiful and wants you to know it too

Hodari

he shows you how much he cares by doing things for you

he’ll rub your feet, bring you coffee or tea in bed, pick the sundrop lilies for you to put in your hair

but sometimes the little nagging voice in your head gets to you anyway

so he has Najuma help him plan a fun night of games and finger foods to eat

because spending time with your family always makes you feel better

so you spend the whole night laughing and chatting and losing at cards but it’s all okay

and at the end of the night he gives you a kiss on the forehead and he tells you how much you mean to him

- will not let you use self-deprecating humor; he refutes it every time

- gets butterflies every time you initiate affectionate contact, especially if you hug his waist from behind

- occasionally comes to you for advice on situations/arguments with Najuma

- doesn’t necessarily want Najuma to think of you as her mom, but he does need you to be motherly for her, if that makes sense

- more or less sticks with you at social events for the village

- brings home crystals he finds while mining to you and Najuma; also, if you’re one of those people that like “cool rocks,” Hodari will make sure to bring one home for you every day

- rarely ever takes days off even though he’s his own boss, but every once and a while he’ll stay home to snuggle and sleepily chat with you

- is always touching you when you’re both in bed; you just make him that comfortable

- smiles like a lovestruck fool every time you cut his hair

- will turn magenta and hide his upper face with a hand temporarily if you gift him flowers; no one has ever done that for him before

Hello, and welcome to…

Pointless Palia Head-Cannons!

This is a segment where my hyper-focused and obsessive brain will shower you all with all of the pointless very important head-cannons I have about the MMO Palia and its many NPCs!

Today’s topic is:

Which Palia NPCs can sing well and which ones simply cannot carry a tune?

Now, in the words of the famous Italian plumber, “Here we go!” (List below the cut!)

NPCs are listed in alphabetical order.

• Ashura - Absolutely yes, but in a very deep, sea-shanty / Gaelic tune way. He’s not the most technically sound, but his voice is very gruff and soothing. Absolutely sang his son lullabies every night.

• Auni - No, I’m sorry. Convinced that he cannot carry a tune AT ALL but thinks he can. Sings loudly with zero inhibition whatsoever. Gotta give him credit there!

• Badruu - We know this man was in a traveling Bard group, so he’s musically inclined for sure. I feel like he would have been killer backup and filler vocals and he can harmonize beautifully.

• Caleri - Doesn’t believe in fun, jovial activities like singing. (Elouisa informs you later that her sister can in fact not carry a tune at all.)

• Chayne - Absolutely. He’s naturally musically inclined, but part of his spiritual training involved learning to lead chants and hymns. Bass level vocals, v soothing.

• Delaila - Not at all. Where do you think Auni gets it? Part of what entranced her about Badruu in the beginning was his musical abilities. She’ll still sing along with a group and put her all into it though!

• Einar - The concept of producing a vocal stimulation to create a pleasing melodic sound is lost to the robot. But if it’s your Oneness, he respects it.

• Elouisa - Cannot sing, but definitely played clarinet in high school and was first chair!

• Eshe - No way. Cruella de Vil type vibes. She definitely was classically trained on the piano, but doesn’t often exercise the skill.

• Hassain - Can absolutely carry a tune and harmonize well! Definitely low baritone or higher bass in range. Can harmonize with higher ranges very well!

• Hekla - Her Jina often sings to herself as she works, but the ability and desire to produce a series of melodies is not within her rune programming.

• Hodari - Not the biggest fan of singing, but has a decent voice that comes off pleasantly gruff and southern. I imagine if Pedro Pascal’s ‘Joel’ from The Last of Us sang a slower, more reserved tune. (My other example was the dad cow from Back at the Barnyard that sings “I Won’t Back Down”… Let me know if that woulda been better or worse.)

• Jel - Definitely took vocal lessons with his sisters. Has a very pleasant and airy singing voice that is very technically sound.

• Jina - Doesn’t really sing much except for to herself. Massive stage fright on this one! Hekla says that her Jina seems happy when she sings, and that’s what matters.

• Kenji - Honestly? 100%, yes. Maybe like a broadway or an operatic voice. Doesn’t sing much but I imagine it would sound really jolly if he was a jollier guy.

• Kenyatta - YES! Doesn’t sing because she thinks it’s ‘lame’ (she gives me massive ‘too cool for school��� vibes) but has a delightful and powerful singing voice (kinda like the wolf Porsha Crystal played by Halsey in Sing 2.)

• Nai’O - Yes absolutely. Got his talent from his dad! He’s very shy when put on the spot though, so he doesn’t sing in front of people often — mostly when he works in the field with his animals by himself.

• Najuma - Not at all! But it’s okay because Najuma has zero desire to, haha. Kid is happy to be tinkering!

• Reth - On god, YES. Man has a beautiful and casual singing voice with a little rasp around the edges. Sings to himself while he cooks or gets really focused on something. I’m thinking “Feelin’ Good” by Michael Bublé, but maybe bit more rough around the edges.

• Sifuu - Not much of a singer, but I know our Muscle Mommy definitely has a few war chants or something up her sleeve! Lady can keep a beat for sure.

• Tamala - Thinks she can, but makes it way too sultry. You heard me. There’s such a thing as too much!

• Tish - Yes! Absolutely. She seems like she would 100% have like a Mandy Moore or Kristen Bell vibe. Very Disney Princess-esque!

• Zeki - Okay, honestly I think yes — but not in a conventional way. Kind of like Ashura; I think he would be great at singing like traditional Grimalkin shanties or folk-songs. Not very practiced, but he’s got spirit!

OKAY FINALLY DONE! I plan to do a lot more of these! Let me know if you have any suggestions!

*The Daiya’s got droopier ears to protect them from rain and dirt

*The Pavel Line bred into a more rounded ears type style to help with echolocation and a wider range to different noises

*While Hassian has longer ears that allows for pinpoint detection but also means he’s got highly sensitive hearing // Whenever he goes into town or to practice blacksmithing, he wears earplugs

*The rich/higher class bred out moving ears in order to not have their emotions easily read

*The Omiata have long ears that bend up a little like Spock. I will squeeze Star Trek wherever I can // Their ears bend closer to to their head to be out of the way

*Kenli, Kenyatta, and Eshe had long ears that bend away from their ears

Even Pua still stays in the float cuz I remember Makuu saying a leader can either accept a mashindano or surrender his leadership immediately and Pua was all “You know what, I’m going to retire early. Nduli will be a fine leader”

The biggest problem the Pridelands would face is that when Nduli does something wrong due to his overconfidence, it’d be hard for the Guard to say no to him cuz the float would just gang up on them hfhfgf

Maybe the guard would be kinda suspicious since they think Nduli could secretly be up to no good in the Savannah Summit when in reality, he’s just vibing.

Pua: Go with it. Speciesism is at an all time low since we put you in charge

Nduli: What’s “speciesism”?

Pua: It isn’t a thing anymore with you as our leader 🫡 🥹

Nduli says something really sweet like “They’re not just my float, they’re my friends and I’d do anything for my friends. They deserve it!” and one of the other crocs goes “This is exactly why you’re in charge”

Oh my god!! Luna making a (quick) comeback!! Yeah, so rare. I've gotten way too into Palia, I'm not gonna lie. This random thought came into my brain while I was watching random videos, "who would they go for?" and it suddenly became a need to make this. I'm not gonna make any promises, as usual, I'm just trying to get myself in the creative mood after such a long time. I'm doing this for reasons that I will 99.9% not be able to fulfill once more. I apologize if I lack a lot compared to previous posts. Ignoring that, let's do this! Little disclaimer: I haven't gotten that far on the lore or the relationships on their own so these assumptions and descriptions of the characters could not be completely accurate!

Jiwoong

I found it really hard at first, not gonna lie.

I think he would find Tamala really attractive, given her whole witchy vibe (and overall attitude, I guess).

There's something about her that I feel matches Jiwoong really well.

It would be a kinda interesting pair, a vampire and a witch, who would have thought??

When asked he would simply say "age is nothing but a number" (obviously wouldn't apply out of the adult context!)

Matthew would tease him saying that they are an immortal couple after all.

Zhang Hao

This one was way easier than other members.

Funny enough, he has his priorities straight.

Yeah, we're talking about zerostraightnone after all.

He simps for Hodari. (affectionatelly)

He's been found looking at fanart questionably often.

He goes "THIS MAN" while biting his lip whenever there's a flirty dialogue. He actually blushes sometimes.

He just can't help it lmao.

(The members do side eye him when that happens though)

Don't even mention the shirtless dialogue to him or he'll go crazy.

Aside from Hodari, come on, we're talking about the one and only ZHANG HAO.

He can get whoever he wants at his feet. (or vice versa, honestly)

And that someone is Hassian.

He just loves strong men *sigh*

Hanbin

This one was hard too.

The reason? The recipe for this man keeps confusing me.

Too sweet or too spicy.

I can kinda see Kenyatta as one of his options.

Something about her rebellious nature, maybe.

I wouldn't say that it's a perfect match, but I think he would like such an open minded and free spirited woman by his side. (+ she can be kinda cute at times too!)

He would support her every decision, we love a supportive partner!

He would make Eshe love him, by the way. Not even her could resist to his charms!

To go with this, I feel he would also go for Nai'O, you know, to spice things up since (spoiler) they already had a thing going on ;)

That guy can also say the sweetest things sometimes so I think there would be a really great balance among the three :)

Matthew

We all know how much of a sweetie he is.

And who else is as sweet as him and could absolutely match his sunshine energy?

I think they would be an instant and perfect match.

He would see her for the first time and go :0

"Oh my god you're so pretty 🥺💕" "Are you single? 🥺"

He would treat her as the prettiest and rarest flower, so "delicate and ethereal"

If not, he would try to flirt with Reth.

You know, the usual "no homo" at first. "He's just a friend"

But maaaan, "how gorgeous he looks, doesn't he?"

He finds himself giggling whenever he sees soup in a menu.

Taerae

This guy would fall for the sweet girl too.

Simp number 2?? Maybe?? More like simp then. (affectionately)

You can see him silently smiling at the screen while he's talking with her. Even when he sees her walking by.

Would never say anything weird about her, he's a soft and gentle man 😌

Dare I say... he's a "man in love"? Yes I do.

Going on a personal quest of picking up a lot of flowers just to gift them to her? Absolutely! Decorating a "special" room of his house (very cottagecore themed) so "she could someday feel at home"? You bet he will!

Other than that... Hey, hear me out.

He gives me the vibes that he may or may not be into older girls.

He has a certain charm on his own that the ladies wouldn't be able to resist.

I'm talking specifically of Subira. I know she's supposed to fall for the human anyway, but she would 100% find Taerae unusually charming and attractive.

Gyuvin would finally be 100% convinced that 𝓡𝓲𝓬𝓴𝔂 loves himself way too much (and would definitely tease him for it lmao). #selflove king

𝓡𝓲𝓬𝓴𝔂 would be a blushing mess the second he realizes why he's gotten so attached to Jel all of a sudden.

Gyuvin

He's the embodiment of "At first I was like mmm (Einar) as a joke. But bro... I don't think it's a joke anymore".

Being his usual goofy self, he would actually find it kinda funny when he finds about Einar being an option for romance in this game.

He would take a photo and send it to the group chat "lmao guys look at this".

𝓡𝓲𝓬𝓴𝔂 would joke saying that he "should totally date him".

Gyuvin would see it as a challenge and start working on that.

Yes, he's goofy and silly, but he's really sensitive and emotional as well.

He would slowly get closer to Einar, starting to find himself relating to the most random things or empathizing too much...

He's found a really good friend after all 🥺 he doesn't even find dating the fishing robot as weird as he used to.

But. He wouldn't hesitate flirting with Hassian if that means he gets to spend more precious time with Tau 🥺

(I can definitely see Tish being an option too).

Gunwook

Our favorite nerd (affectionately).

The one who started all of this. But I'll forgive him because he's such a cutie pie.

He was the first one when I started to think about their different options.

I'm 101% sure he would LOVE Jina.

Other than just for her looks, you know what they say "smart is sexy"... Or something like that.

I feel like he's the type of person to fall for the brain first (which sounds kinda creepy and weird without context oopsie).

He would try his best to focus in and prioritize all of the quests that are related to her in any way.

There's also a chance he would kinda get jealous of Hekla, but it wouldn't go farther than a simple joke.

Assuming he actually loves to talk non-stop about "smart stuff" and throw around random facts he's learned, he would be all "smile and nod" (and blush) in real life if she wasn't a fictional character.

Yujin

Wasn't sure about adding him, but I found it really cute.

Once again, going for the popular option here, he would have a crush on Tish.

I can not see this any other way.

He's a shy baby but would try his absolute best to have a "clear" mind when it comes to choosing the best responses on dialogue.

You know, he wants to show that he can act like a rational adult too.

...would actually fail more often than not and ask the older hyungs for advice. He wants to do things right (he's taking this seriously).

He likes to see it as a "traning for real life". There's a lot to learn that can also be applied to non romantic relationships!

At the end of the day, he would try to sound "poetic" (or something like that) by saying that "with love, patience and communication all relationships can bloom".

The hyungs can't help but tease him because of how cute he is!

Working on my Jel fic has led to the following headcanon:

Is a big hugger: Reth, Nai'o, Tish, Jina, Kenli, Auni, Delaila

Puts their hand on your shoulder when they want to tell you something Important: Hassian, Sifuu, Ashura, Hodari, Budruu

Will not initiate touch, but will accept it under the right circumstances: Eshe, Caleri, Kenyatta, Elouisa, Najuma, Hekla

Vibe checks you before deciding if they're gonna touch you in any way: Einar, Tamala, Zeki (all for wildly different reasons)

I think Jel's hang-up on touch was baked into him by being essentially Majiri nobility. He secretly craves physical affection, but he feels very Wrong about this and that's why he has those little mental hurdles to jump over before he'll be physically affectionate with you in any way.

Chayne gets his own section because he is also a big hugger but his hugs specifically give you the "unconditional acceptance" vibe.

- is a coy yet completely authentic lover

- feels confused and like the world is ending when he realizes you’re in love with him; he did this to you? How? With what qualities?

- has similar feelings for when he realizes he’s also in love with you; there is absolutely no way this is going to work out

- it does in fact work out

- considers you an enigma, but in a completely pleasant way, because you somehow understand his antisocialness and mystery and decode him so effortlessly

- takes it upon himself to open up more to you and express his emotions and concerns more vividly than before

- appreciates the relationship you’ve built with Najuma; it’s incredibly important to him

- really values maternal traits and patience, as they show the maturity he’s looking for for both himself and his daughter

- appreciates if you can cook, but still prefers to cook for you so you can relax and just have the responsibility of complimenting meals

- adores if you can bake, however, since he’s not great at it

- is always terribly flustered if you make anything near a DILF or sugar daddy joke (of course, he does kinda love the correlation)

- can get incredibly flirty in response, though, if he’s feeling up to it

- actually loves flustering you; seeing you get red or squirm in place gives him a subtle thrill

- leaves you letters upon your side of the bed’s nightstand in the morning; they always say “I love you” and what mine he’s going to, just so you know where to find him

- drinks a bit, but is not irresponsible with alcohol on account of being an example for Najuma (he handles liquor well anyways)

- gets very flirtatious, extroverted, and talkative if he somehow does get drunk (of course, Najuma is still never allowed to see him intoxicated)

- can sketch really well, like REALLY well, but he hasn’t drawn since Leta passed; the only way you find out he can draw is through old drawings you find in Leta’s nightstand

- can also sing, but the same story goes for his sketches; he doesn’t really do it anymore, at least around other people

- secretly sings little working songs about love as he cooks; blushes and stops immediately if you catch him

- showers once in the morning and again in the evening; waste of water? Eh. If you’re far enough into the relationship and are concerned about water bills, just ask to hop in with him. What, you really think he’ll refuse?

Palia human headcanons

We are all telepathic and can talk to each other anytime. Which means we also can annoy the sh*t out of each other if we wanted. Just friendly annoyance from time to time. A special thanks to @wolfofbluestardust for this hc.

Maybe we function as a hive mind? But I think that only happens when it’s an emergency. Like if someone got hurt badly and can’t move at all. Or, when all of us need to be in a certain place at a certain time. 

An average human can run about 2-3 miles at best. But in our case, we can run longer and walk for longer periods of time. 

Very tough claws? Let’s be fr, my avatar has climbed various mountains with nothing to latch onto so I see this as fitting. We can just retract them when we don’t need them anymore. 

None of us can swim, which I think is hilarious. It’s funny to think that we can travel in the most unsafe ruins and come back out alive like nothing happened but don’t f*ck with water. 

We remember songs from our old world but have no clue where we heard them from. It gets annoying when you can’t remember the other lyrics AND can’t look them up to see what they are. However, we sometimes have parties and our lead singer (or singers) will sing a song we all know. Possibly have a band in the background for the instrumental parts. (I hope this makes sense)

I think it’s a popular headcanon that all humans have amnesia when we get to Palia. Which means none of us remember if we had siblings or parents. So I’m sure Ashura, Hodari, Badruu, and Delaila (maybe even Sifuu) serve as “adoptive” parents to all of us (who don’t romantically like them). 

Najuma and Auni are like younger siblings of course, (well to me they are). As well as Reth, Tish, and Kenyatta (if you don’t see them as someone to romance.)

Tbh Eshe gives angry rich grandma vibes and Kenli gives forgetful but happy grandpa vibes. 

Very durable seeing as we can jump off HIGH ASS mountains with very little issue afterwards. I imagine a villager, Ashura or maybe Tish or Hassian, catching one of us jumping off a mountain for the first time. 

“Oh my dragon, are you alright?!”

“Yeah, why?”

“...”

Cue to a villager watching us drop off cliffs and mountains over and over because we think it’s cool that we can do that without a scratch.

Speaking of running, are we like…. fast? Because I see all of us running like track stars all over the Bahari and Kilima…so, would it be fitting for us to be really fast, or would that be overpowering? But either way, I know none of us have bad looking legs. 

YOU CANNOT TELL ME WE DO NOT HAVE A DRAGON DEFAULT FORM!

Hear me out here. We were sent by the dragon to Palia and therefore possibly blessed with abilities BY A DRAGON. So, what if when we feel EXTREMELY threatened or with a strong urge to protect someone or something, we turn into a dragon?! Wouldn’t that be cool!

Okay but that makes so much sense though for both him and Najuma too. Najuma finds the town too overwhelming (and probably Hodari to some extent, if not the same, he’s just able to mask better) and her special interests are fireworks, explosives, crafting things and exploring. She finds Auni (who I’m gonna say it: he’s kinda giving adhd with a big special interest in bugs and magic) overwhelming

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

He's a sweet lil guy!!! Definitely love his enthusiasm for sure.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

Dude's got all the croc moves memorized! Technique is v important :)

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

Honestly, I really like that he's given as much love and attention as the main characters!!! tlg fandom really knows how to appreciate their side characters :3

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I think he takes some of the croc moves and teaches his own lil self defense class to all the small reptiles of the Pride Lands and Outlands! He probably would get some students from the Back Lands too, I'd bet.
