Our new family member finally hatched! The poochyena egg produced by team calm and surrendered to the ranger union hatched into the cutest lil potato of a puppy I ever did see.

She has some curl to her fur, and from what I've seen that pretty common for these ""ultra domestic"" pokemon. She seems to be docile by nature, again common for a team calm 'mon.

The concerning thing isnt her fur or her nature though, but the way she acts is just... unsettling. It's like she's just a little doll to be played with. She does what she's told, she sits quietly and politely, she will play with Michael if he initiates play with her, but she hardly plays on her own and when she does she doesn't even bite anything. Which is like! Their whole thing!

Idk, it's just upsetting to me how little agency she seems to have. She obviously wouldn't survive in the wild, but she also wouldn't be able to defend herself from a shitty trainer. Her whole behaviour is just so wrong for her species and typing. It...reminds me of something, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Hopefully with some training and regular playtime with Michael she'll start to develop a personality separate from whatever team calm did to her genetic code. In the meantime tho, I guess we gotta come up with a name!

 Killian tried to shake off his nerves as he drove to Emma's apartment. Just because he hadn't dated in years didn't mean he was gonna be bad at it- he had to remind himself of that. It was just a simple, formal but casual get-together.

 His phone started ringing in his jacket pocket.

 "That's probably Emma, calling to cancel at the last minute," he thought, but when he looked at his screen he realized it was worse than that.

 He sighed as he picked up the phone and swiped the call icon while trying to keep his eyes on the road.

 "I'm on the road right now, can I call you back later?"

 "Well, hello to you too." the sarcastic and disappointed voice replied

 "Two seconds into the call and I've already messed up," Killian thought, "This must be my new personal record."

 "Hi, dad." Killian tried not to let the disdain in his voice show.

 "I was just calling to see if you'll make it to Liam's graduation."

 "I'm not sure," he said, having forgotten entirely about his little step brother's high school graduation, "I haven't looked at my schedule yet for next weekend."

 "Why not?" his father asked, clearly very annoyed, "You've known about this for months."

 "I know," Killian said, "And I'll see if I can make it. I've been busy as of recent, and a little tied up with things at the museum."

 "Museum?"

 "Yes, dad," Killian rolled his eyes and pretended he wasn't disappointed, "the one displaying my exhibit."

 "Oh yeah." his dad replied, then changed tone, "Fiona said if you come to bring that potato salad you like to make, for Liam's party."

 "If I'm not busy I will," Killian said, hoping beyond hope that something would come up between now and then, "right now I have to go; I'm on my way to a charity fundraiser dinner…."

 "That's nice," his dad interrupted. "The graduation starts at seven on Friday. See you then."

 With that, his dad hung up, like he hadn't heard a word Killian had just said- like he hadn't heard anything Killian had said for a long time.

 He tried not to let it cast a pall on his evening. He was about to escort a lovely lady to a fancy dinner, to help benefit a cause he cared about- and not even a phone call from his dad had been strong enough to ruin that.

 He parked outside her apartment building and called her, hoping she wouldn't bail on him now.

 "Hello," her voice over the phone said.

 "Hey, Emma," he said, "it's Killian. Killian Jones. I'm here whenever you're ready."

 "I'll be right down."

 She hung up the phone and he stepped out of the car. He slid his phone into his pocket, then checked himself again in the car mirror, hoping he still looked at least half as good as he thought he did when he left. Then he leaned against the car, watching the door of the building, waiting for Emma.

 When the door finally opened and Emma stepped out, Killian stood up straighter, hoping she wouldn't catch how awestruck he was by her. Her deep red dress was long, but cut low, and she wore a similarly colored shawl overtop.

 "Good evening, Emma," he held his hand out, and she met it with hers.

 "You clean up nice," Emma smiled, her eyes scanning him a few times over.

 "I was gonna say the same thing about you," he said, "though the words 'stunning,' 'radiant,' and 'beautiful' also crossed my mind."

 She rolled her eyes, but her cheeks flushed with a pink like the clouds behind them.

 He escorted her to the other side of the car, holding the door open and then closing it once she got in, then ran back around to his side of the car.

 "What kind of music do you like to listen to?" Killian asked, pulling up Spotify on his phone as he sat down.

 "That depends," Emma said, "will you judge me if I say country?"

 "Rascal Flatts or old era Taylor Swift?"

 "I like both," Emma said, "Dolly Parton and Alabama aren't bad either."

 "Sounds great," Killian said, quickly pulling up a country music playlist to play on his car's Bluetooth speaker.

 Emma looked over at him, and they exchanged a smile as the first song's lyrics played on the car's radio:

 "At last I have caught up with you and you're a sight to see."

 He started the car and they were soon off.

 "Can I be honest?" Emma asked.

 "Sure," Killian said.

 "I've never been to one of these things in my life." Emma said.

 "Really?" Killian looked over at her and gave a reassuring smile, "then be prepared for four of the most tedious and boring hours of your life."

 "You sure know how to charm a girl."

 "Just giving you a heads up, of course," he said, "there'll be a lot of boring stiffs and stuffy old people who the museum has made certain will attend, and we'll have to carry on conversation with each of them at least once or twice."

 "Delightful."

 "There'll also be wonderful food," he made eye contact with her in the rear view mirror, "and a few tolerable, if not enjoyable attendees to share it with. We'll have a good time anyways."

 "Okay," Emma smiled.

 "And if it does end up being stuffy and boring the whole time," he half laughed, "I guess I'll just have to take you out to dinner again sometime to make up for it. If you'd give me a second chance, I'm sure I could come up with something at least eight times better than this, should it go horribly wrong."

 "Then let's hope it's the worst night of my life."

 He turned to look at her for half a second, reading her playful smile and dancing eyes that shone with the surrounding sunset- then quickly turned his gaze back on the road so he didn't get lost in her beauty and miss his next turn.

 "Then I hope you have a rotten time too," he smiled.

how'd you start working at a bakery? I'm trying to quit my job and work at literally any bakery but I can't seem to get there :(

what happened to me was i was desperate for work out of college and i got hired as a lead decorator at a shitty cookie cake place because the owner saw my painting degree and figured that knowledge would transfer over to icing. i liked it a lot more than i expected and built up a "real" cake portfolio at home, then when i moved, i applied for jobs with that and did not mention that my "lead decorator" position was just with cookie cakes. that job ended up being hell but now im at a different bakery where its fun, the pay is decent, and its basically awesome.

if youre wanting a decorator position specifically, most girls ive worked with start at grocery store bakeries for a while, but ive also seen people get hired with other visually creative experience or homebaking experience if their portfolios are pretty good. id say just spend some time building a portfolio at home and lie about how long youve been homebaking, say youve done it for money, etc.

you can buy piping tips and bags at dollar tree and use instant mashed potatoes as a cheap icing substitute if the cakes are just for photos. you want ur portfolio to be pretty varied and show basic stuff like flowers, writing, and a few types of borders. youll also most likely have to pass an audition, so practice a lot and make sure you can work relatively fast. if you want any tips or tutorials PLEASE hit me up i love explaining cake stuff!!!!!!

as far as other bakery positions go, i dont have personal experience with that but i know at my work we usually look for either culinary education or experience in lower-end bakeries like chains or grocery stores, but you could probably get away with a combination of other foodservice experience and homebaking.

oh my gosh!! this dynamic is so delicious to me!! the ones i tagged on the post were the locked tomb which is a book series and I think gideon/ harrow specifically fit that dynamic, but a lot of the characters who show up in book 2 do too. vicious- another book series and eli and victor are literally the epitome of this dynamic. jujutsu kaisen which is an anime that i'm obsessed with rn- satoru/ suguru is literally a hero/ villain ship and it is SO delicious. the raven cycle which is another book series and ronan/ kavinsky fits the dynamic but so does ronan/ adam to some extent - esp the i would choose you over the whole world. honestly the whole messed up friend polycule that is the raven cycle is very much possessive and codependent and doomed by the narrative.

other pieces of media with this dynamic!! bungo stray dogs (anime) - chuuya/ dazai is so deliciously toxic and they seem to trade the villain/ anti-hero role back and forth like hot potato. the penumbra podcast- another one where a lot of the characters fit the dynamic but my faves are buddy and vespa they truly would burn down the world for one another. campaign skyjacks (podcast) - i love gable and travis and margaret (yes i will die on the hill that this poly ship is better than either of the paired off counterparts) and their dynamic is so so doomed by the narrative and what if we took soulmates and it was always going to be us at the end and made it sad. also trigun (anime- i would start with trigun stampede) and the vash/ wolfwood is so beautifully possessive and doomed by the narrative and another one where it reads like a hero/anti-hero ship on the surface but they truly could turn into villains at the drop of a hat for each other.

What's your paprikás krumpli recipe? I need to know

i fucking love making paprikáskrumpli its all i do. if any of u make it based on this pls hmu

this about feeds my family of 3 for 2 days for literally every single meal so ull probably need to make less

ingredients:

10 potatoes. if theyre about fist sized use 12, if theyre those big ass potatoes god help you

2-3 frankfurters (hot dogs? wieners? idk what the fuck english speakers call these. virsli)

1 big sausage (or 2 if ur not using any frankfurters)

1 onion (like the normal one not the purple one)

paprika (sweet. u can use spicy if u wanna) to taste (i use a heaped spoonful and then some bc i love paprika)

garlic to taste (a lot)

salt

water

BIG pot. its like salad. u need a bigger pot than you think youll need

peel the potatoes and chop them into cubes (if u want it to be sort of mushy chop them irregularly). chop up the onions and uhh idk english cooking terms. like cook em till they look glassy

this is where you add the paprika and this step is crucial and you might want to use a transfem nonbinary person of you choice help you. so when your onions are glassy looking enough you take your chosen amount of paprika and put it in the pot and stir it super fast and then you (or your transfem nonbinary person of your choice) pour the water in super fast the amount doesnt matter but u gotta do it as soon as uve stirred it or else the paprika will burn and get bitter. u can drop ur garlic in the water now as well

so now uve got ur paprika-onion water u just add ur potatoes, and then pour in just enough water to cover it, salt well and let it simmer on low. if you like your potaotes hard (ew) about half an hour to 40 minutes should do it, if you like it mushier you fan go as far as an hour, but either way i recommend leaving it be for 30 minutes and then checking it every 10 minutes bc it rly depends on your potaotes

when you think your potaotes are cooked enough chop up the sausage and frankfurters, add them and stir well and leave to cook for about 3-5 minutes. u can serve immediately or let it all sit together for a bit, ur choice. eat it w smth pickled

omfg yes. i hav to alert tho, most peru dishes will require some peru ingredients that are a little hard to come by outside the country, like aji amarillo or aji panca or huacatay. depending on where u are u might be able to find them in latino grocery stores, am*zon or just find decent replacements. but ummm some simple delicious peru dishes:

causa de atun (layered seasoned mashed potato and tuna salad, eaten cold. a summer fave!)

ceviche, obviously. theres a billion varieties and its honstly rly easy to make, 95% of the work is prepping ingredients and getting good fresh fish. alternatively, tiradito, for the japanese fusion version (basically sashimi ceviche)

lomo saltado. im ngl im not a big fan but its a huge favorite for so many ppl here lol. if you like beef and fries youll like it. mega easy to make, its just a stir fry w rice

anticuchos if ur not afraid of organ meats. so fucking good. so so easy. boil some potatos to eat on the side w fresh cheese if u make them.

guiso de trigo just a simple wheat stew but you add fresh cheese in it and eat it w some rice. perfect winter meal, peak comfort food for me <3

The salt in the air as it filled his lungs was welcome and calming, with so many years spent sailing the seas, Lance felt at ease when he was close to the waves of the tempest waters. But no more comfort than he felt upon the deck of the Howling Waves a ship he had found more than just a home but also a family, he was the first mate and if he were to boast or brag (which he did plenty of in the humblest of ways) Lance would say he earned that spot. Under a captain that was not only fierce, strong, and capable, but beautiful as well. He was constantly caught in a cycle of adoration and lust but he valued them beyond that as well, they had saved his life in more ways than Lance had admitted and for that he owed the captain. 

Stepping onto the ship Lance shot a glance around, usually the first one on the boat after a few days resting in any port but today he was sure to be the first one there. Finding himself alone Lance set about his duties before he crossed paths with the cook of the ship, they shared a few moments in the early morning and a nod while Lance moved to inspect the helm. When the first mate was finished with his duties some of the other crew members started to drift back from wherever they had stayed on their three day stint in this particular port. Lance grinned before he made his way down into the kitchen, the warm scent of brewing coffee and cooking food meeting his senses. 

“Mmm, smells ‘eavenly, Bel,” the blonde man cooed as he followed the scent over to where the older man cooked, Belwick had been the cook on the ship well before Lance had ever shown up and the older man liked to keep Lance guessing on how long ago it really was he’d birthed on the ship. Belwick grinned some at Lance before shoveling several strips of ham, eggs, potatoes a hunk of toasted bread onto two plates as Lance helped himself to pouring two cups of coffee. 

“Dunno if it smells ‘alf as heavenly as that sweet little thing I saw hangin’ all over ye last night,” the cook replied with a mischievous tone and glint in his eyes as Lance moved back around to grab the tray of food that Belwick offered to him after Lance had sat the two mugs of coffee down on the tray. 

“Hold yer tongue old man, yer gonna get me in trouble,” Lance half-scolded with the slightest of chuckles brushing past his lips as he shot a glance over his shoulder at the stairs which were empty. It wasn’t that he and the captain were anything exclusive or anything at all, but they had found each other in bed on more than one occasion. “--- ‘sides, I bathed ‘fore I came back.” Lance added with a smirk, taking a few steps backwards towards the stairs before he bumped into a small frame and shifted to the side, tray steady in his hands. 

The cabin boy, Hennrik, rubbed sleepily at his eyes with one hand while the other scratched absently at his backside, hair still a mess from sleep. Lance nudged the boy and shared a glance with the cook before he turned to start up the stairs as Belwick affectionately scolded the tired boy for being late. Taking two stairs at a time Lance came out onto a more bustling deck than he had left on his way down to the kitchen, with an educated, stern, and proficient eye the first mate scanned the crew as they worked on getting the Howling Wave ready to set sail were that to be the captains wishes. Lance cast one last inspecting look over the crew and the deck before he tapped at the door to the captains quarters, he didn’t wait much time for an answer before he pushed the door open and let himself inside.  Yes, he risked the chance of there being someone else there with the captain or finding them in any stages of dress but Lance liked to think of himself as a good thorn in their side. “I came bearin’ gifts, cap’n,” Lance said, accent thick against his tongue and eyes averting the bunk as he moved over to set the tray on the table in the room.
