Everyone is deserving of love. Love in all its shapes and colours. A love that looks like a tender conversation in a tiny kitchen, a love that looks like unstoppable laughter under the starry night sky, a love that looks like unwavering dedication and adoration even when it seems impossible. Every person is worthy of a love that makes their heart feel full while being fully aware of the world and all its complexities, shadows and anguish. A love that gives one hope.

Sometimes, this complicated feeling looks like speeding down the city streets as a salvation in the time of trouble. It could even look like a distraught, disjointed embrace accompanied by a cacophony of sobs and stuttered breaths. Love can look like feeling another’s pain, living through it as if it is one’s own. Love can mean heartbreak, over and over again until there is seemingly nothing left, and yet still the ground up powder of affection would be offered as a sacrifice to this mystery.

What is love to you?

You wonder, particularly on nights like this, when a blanket of calm covers the metropolis in which you found yourself, not too dissimilar to a shell being washed up on the shore to encounter a glorious, blazing sun. A twinkling magic on the other side of the glass greets you, and you rest a finger on the coolness, tracing distant shapes of building after building, only to haphazardly wipe it down with the edge of your sleeve. How did you end up in a place where you thought you would never be, feeling what you had sworn you would be unable to feel? 

A gentle melancholy aches in your chest, etching the curves and edges of your ribcage, an incessant little bird, bubbling up that old sense of unease. What is this that you are living in? If you do not know, will it go away? The loud mind, an old friend and enemy, one which had accompanied you through all stages of your life, to find itself equally as bewildered as your heart, but a lot more terrified. Caught between bliss and a painful awareness of the unknown, you walk a tightrope blindfolded.

At least until a hand reaches out for you, warm, reassuring, and guides you across to an oasis. A beating heart, a familiar breath, palm pressed against your upper arm take you out of your spiralling musings, and beckon you to look in the direction of a soft, barely audible whisper of ‘my love’. 

You turn to meet Seonghwa’s eyes, endless pools of glistening brown sugar, enough to both extinguish and ignite, turn dark to light and wrong to right. A timeless poetry is in his face, the rhythm of his features casting a spell over you as you glance over them. These sleepy eyes, stunning nose and cheeks that bear a pinkish hue, plush lips caught in a miniscule pout, dishevelled hair that you know your boyfriend tried to tame, to no avail. You turn your body to meet him fully, and fall into his arms. They envelop you tightly, and you inhale the ghostly remnants of his cologne, a tantalising note of his, and your favourite shampoo, all intricately blended with fabric softener and cotton - put simply, you are home.

“Why aren’t you sleeping, hm?” he asks, voice still a little raspy. It must have been only minutes since he woke up to find you.

“I’m sorry… Did I wake you?”

“Mm… no. Your absence woke me up,” you could cry, not that you would say it, or rather have to say it. Seonghwa knows how his words affect you anyways, judging by the swift squeeze of his arms before he returns to slowly rocking side to side. 

“I just had a lot of thoughts. Wanted to get rid of them somehow.”

“Want to talk about them?” 

You are not sure if you would be able to summon enough courage to talk about what is plaguing you, at least now, in the semi-darkness of yours and his apartment, you feel far too fragile to look inside of the boxes you keep shuffling. Unbeknownst to yourself, you begin to bite your lower lip, trying to pick the right words. Any attempt to formulate whatever excuse you have been seeking inevitably fails as Seonghwa’s lips find yours, erasing your habit, erasing your worry. Caught off-guard, a quiet gasp escapes you, only to be rewarded by an airy chuckle.

“So… not talking, then?” you press your face into the crook of his neck, sensing heat rising on your cheeks. 

“You surprised me, is all…” you trail off, slowly guiding yourself upwards, but still being unable to meet Seonghwa’s gaze.

“I’ll happily kiss all your worries away, if that’s what it takes,” his tone is humorous, and the phrase is light-hearted. His glances into your eyes, at your lips, at the strands of hair that you know he will adjust for you like he usually does, holding promise and commitment. If you so wish, he will. If you so want, he will. If you so will, he most definitely will. 

Your hands grip onto his sleeping shirt as you mumble a thanks, inching closer until your timid smile melts into his. A pleasantly languid rhythm, a moonlit paradise, drawing a masterpiece with your bodies until you are struggling to breathe. An adorable exchange of sweet nothings as you fill your lungs with air, no distinction of space nor time while you are in this trouble-less duet. A small peck on Seonghwa’s lips prompts him to pull you in again, eyes fluttering shut as he floats, flies, soars in love with you. You swear you can see the stars while the taste of his cherry lip balm lingers.

As you follow him back to bed, sinking into the sheets with a sigh, inklings of somnolence settle over your slow-moving intertwined bodies. His breath turns steady, a comforting rise and fall against your back. Seonghwa’s hand is over yours, thumb making random patterns on your skin.

“Dream of me,” he says against your shoulder, grinning when he hears your sharp exhale.

This, this is love to you.

in the early morning of APRIL 7TH, BAE MIHI has called a meeting with all of the TRAINEES CONFIRMED TO JOIN THE BAND MAIN CAREER PATH. despite the early hour, mihi is perky as ever, the excitement in her expression fully obvious as she claps her hands together. “wow! we finally have you altogether! how exciting!” her voice gets higher and a little louder over time. “anyway, as you might know, i am the head manager of LGC MUSIC. while we might be a little newer than the other groups, i can assure you that we are in tip-top shape!” she explains. “anyway, let’s get the boring stuff out of the way first! the lot of you will share one manager for now unless more decide to join us! we will await and see if that time ever comes but for now, this shall be the arrangement.”

DORMS

“as for the DORMING situation, well, unfortunately, we can’t have all of you in one dorm, but no fear! we will figure that out soon and once they’re finalized, we will let you know of them immediately! for now, we anticipate this information to be available in two weeks. ooh, this is so exciting. new dorms! I can assure you that they are much better living conditions since you will be debuting soon.” she cheerfully adds. “are you guys as excited as i am?” she shakes her fists up in the air as she looks at the reactions of the group sitting in front of her.

a smile rests on her face as she continues on. “now, SNS ACCOUNTS. gosh, all these rules!” she giggles, “but rules are good! If any of you get into any sort of trouble, it’ll make me look bad. you don’t want to make me look bad, right?” she gives them a puppy dog look as she continues on. “alright, sorry, back to the rules. sns accounts,” she repeats. “you will still be using the sns company accounts for the time being. this may change in the future, but for now, this is the protocol.”

DEBUT CONTRACT

“we’re almost done with the legalities just bear with me here,” she looks back down on her sheet to make sure that she’s covered everything. “okay, yes, your band debut is quickly approaching which means that there are new legal grounds we need to cover. everyone here will receive a NEW CONTRACT that will need to be signed and returned as soon as possible. we won’t waste our time reading them here, but please get to them as soon as you can if you are very serious about debuting!”

BAND MISSION 001: HONGDAE PERFORMANCE

“okay! on to the fun part now. we got through the things that put us to sleep. are you guys awake still?” she asks in a slightly louder tone. “good because the next part is just as important. you will have your first mission, which will be two parts!” she exclaims. “the first will be a performance in hongdae. this will be an INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE on the instrument or vocal, if you want to be the vocalist, that you hope to bring to the band. remember the key word: individual. i won’t be happy if you come to ask me if it’s a group project! it means you didn’t listen to me. i may or may not make a surprise visit so you all better work hard, hm?” she gives them a playful smirk before continuing on.

UPDATE MAY 03: to give time to our band trainees to prepare for their performances, those will happen during the month of JUNE at DAY TIME (between 10AM and 7PM). trainees will pick themselves which day they will be performing.

for OTHERS who wish to assist, the company considers they may go if it doesn’t interfere with their training schedule AND only to same gender performances to avoid rumors. should somebody skip practice to watch a band trainee perform (reminder that lgc music staff are present since it’s an evaluation), they will be severely punished.

in the morning, i had a bite of quest cookies and cream, two walnuts, a soy magic and one speculoos chocolate biscuit. 

for morning snack, marigold mixed berry low fat yogurt 

for lunch, salad with sweet potato, tofu, broccoli and lettuce 

office afternoon snack, wang wang biscuit 

for dinner, salmon bone miso soup and half a navel orange 

想い: made it for lunch time F45 and evening class, this helped to increase my calorie burn for the day but a tiny bit, but i didn’t hit my step count. eating was fine-ish although i could and should have ate lesser for dinner. still trying to curb my sweet after savoury habit. hm work is getting busy and stressful, i hope that helps in stopping my snacking and not exacerbate it.

at 03:23 am, i had 2 cheese corn thins, half a packet of 3-in-1 coffee mix, and a cup of kellogg’s special k with soy milk 

the plan: go for 07:10am F45, hopefully for lunch time class and also dinner, plus throw in a short jog + walk to lavender MRT and walk from bedok MRT. lunch of salad and dinner of mr bean ice cream (if my craving doesn’t change)

Bank Holiday Monday, over St Patrick’s Day Weekend.

We left the apartment at an early 6.45am to walk towards Dublin’s Connolly station. There, we met with Shana’s coworker M and her boyfriend M.

We hopped on the train and discovered that our names were appearing on a little display above our seats. Those little details can make us nerds so happy!

Over the next two hours, the duration of our trip, we spent our time talking and learning more about M&M — they are both from Sweden and arrived in Dublin about two and a half months before us. We’re still all adjusting to Ireland and life in Dublin, and it’s nice to find another foreign couple who can sympathize with us, and who we can sympathize with.

We arrived in Belfast just before 10am, ready to grab a quick bite and discover the city.

Walking from the station, we headed in direction to what seemed to us like the center of the city and ended up in front of the city council.

It actually makes a lot of sense: as we learnt throughout the day, Belfast was one of the biggest ports from which European migrants would leave for the US. As they arrived on the East Coast of the United States, they were inspired by the architecture from “back home” when designing institutions in their new lands.

Walking all around town, Shana couldn’t help but be reminded of Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston — a comfortable little slice of home.

My original picture of the Philadelphia City Hall was in Black & White. So I added a black and white filter to the Belfast image above to compare both of those. Quite similar indeed.

After a quick walk around the center of the city, and a pit stop to snack on some delicious crepes in a parisian café, we headed towards the harbour to visit the infamous Titanic Museum.

The museum itself is inside of a beautiful modern structure, with big aluminium panels, while there is a rusting sign outside, welcoming you as you enter the area.

Over the following two and a half hours, we learnt a lot about Belfast at the turn of the 20th century, and how it was one of the major ports from which immigrants were leaving. They were hoping to get reach the United States to start a more prosperous life for their children and themselves.

Titanic Belfast

After establishing the context for the early 20th century in Belfast, we got to learn about its local industries and how big it was in terms of a ship-building area. This naturally led to the actual Titanic, the one the infamous 1997 movie is based on.

It was really impressive to see what it took to build such an immense ship. And it made it that much sadder and intense when we listened and read the actual final transmissions of the HMS Titanic, which sank on April 15, 1912.

Thankfully, after two and half hours in the museum, the sun was still out and we walked back towards the city, discussing what we had learnt with our new swedish friends.

We were all starting to be pretty hungry as the clocks reached 2PM and found a lovely gastropub called The Cloth Ear. We were expecting your regular burger and chips, but the menu looked really original. And when our plates arrived, we were just extatic.

The buttermilk fried chicken was really tasty!

After lunch, we spent the last remaining hours walking in the sunny and windy streets of the old town, telling ourselves that we’ll need to be back around the summer to enjoy what seems to be a potentially vibrant summer nightlife.

Belfast was full of hidden bars nested in smaller alleys off from the high street, just the type of place we like to hang out at when the days are warmer.

This was a very quick trip, but one that left us wanting to experience more. We’ll be back, Belfast!

Results help determine whether medicines act differently on humans in space than they do on Earth.  European Space Agency (ESA) Active Dosimeter Swap: The crew swapped the currently worn Mobile Unit (MU) with a charged MU and initiated the data download to the ESA Active Dosimeter Personal Stowage Device (PSD).  The European Crew Personal Active Dosimeter is an active device worn by European ISS crewmembers in orbit to measure the radiation exposure. This device, coupled with other dosimeters in ESA’s Columbus Laboratory, provides radiation dosage information that can be used to support risk assessment and dose management. The future goal is to enable the verification of radiation monitoring systems for future medical monitoring of crewmembers in space. U.S. Extravehicular Activity (EVA) #41 Preparations: In preparation for tomorrow’s planned EVA, today the crew completed the following: Configured tools required for the EVA. Verified that batteries are installed in Pistol Grip Tools (PGTs) and EVA cameras. Prepared the Equipment Lock, EMUs and ancillary hardware to support EVA prep activities. Procedures review including detailed timeline, briefing package, tool config summary and planned get-ahead tasks. Following the procedures review the crew participated in a conference with ground teams to discuss questions or concerns. The crew is scheduled to egress at 7:10AM CDT. ISS Daily Summary Report – 3/29/2017

Dose Tracker Data Entry: The crew performed their weekly Dose Tracker data logging, responding to a questionnaire which asks if crew members have used medications since the last entry, what prompted them to use the medication, how well it worked, how frequently they repeated doses, and if the medication caused side effects. The Dose Tracker investigation uses an iPad app to collect information on members’ medication use during their missions. Results help determine whether medicines act differently on humans in space than they do on Earth.  European Space Agency (ESA) Active Dosimeter Swap: The crew swapped the currently worn Mobile Unit (MU) with a charged MU and initiated the data download to the ESA Active Dosimeter Personal Stowage Device (PSD).  The European Crew Personal Active Dosimeter is an active device worn by European ISS crewmembers in orbit to measure the radiation exposure. This device, coupled with other dosimeters in ESA’s Columbus Laboratory, provides radiation dosage information that can be used to support risk assessment and dose management. The future goal is to enable the verification of radiation monitoring systems for future medical monitoring of crewmembers in space. U.S. Extravehicular Activity (EVA) #41 Preparations: In preparation for tomorrow’s planned EVA, today the crew completed the following: Configured tools required for the EVA. Verified that batteries are installed in Pistol Grip Tools (PGTs) and EVA cameras. Prepared the Equipment Lock, EMUs and ancillary hardware to support EVA prep activities. Procedures review including detailed timeline, briefing package, tool config summary and planned get-ahead tasks. Following the procedures review the crew participated in a conference with ground teams to discuss questions or concerns. The crew is scheduled to egress at 7:10AM CDT. Today’s Planned Activities All activities were completed unless otherwise noted. Sometimes, this complicated feeling looks like speeding down the city streets as a salvation in the time of trouble. It could even look like a distraught, disjointed embrace accompanied by a cacophony of sobs and stuttered breaths. Love can look like feeling another’s pain, living through it as if it is one’s own. If you do not know, will it go away? The loud mind, an old friend and enemy, one which had accompanied you through all stages of your life, to find itself equally as bewildered as your heart, but a lot more terrified. Caught between bliss and a painful awareness of the unknown, you walk a tightrope blindfolded.

At least until a hand reaches out for you, warm, reassuring, and guides you across to an oasis. A beating heart, a familiar breath, palm pressed against your upper arm take you out of your spiralling musings, and beckon you to look in the direction of a soft, barely audible whisper of ‘my love’. 

You turn to meet Seonghwa’s eyes, endless pools of glistening brown sugar, enough to both extinguish and ignite, turn dark to light and wrong to right. A timeless poetry is in his face, the rhythm of his features casting a spell over you as you glance over them. These sleepy eyes, stunning nose and cheeks that bear a pinkish hue, plush lips caught in a miniscule pout, dishevelled hair that you know your boyfriend tried to tame, to no avail. You turn your body to meet him fully, and fall into his arms. They envelop you tightly, and you inhale the ghostly remnants of his cologne, a tantalising note of his, and your favourite shampoo, all intricately blended with fabric softener and cotton - put simply, you are home.

“Why aren’t you sleeping, hm?” he asks, voice still a little raspy. It must have been only minutes since he woke up to find you.

“I’m sorry… Did I wake you?”

“Mm… no. Your absence woke me up,” you could cry, not that you would say it, or rather have to say it. Seonghwa knows how his words affect you anyways, judging by the swift squeeze of his arms before he returns to slowly rocking side to side. 

“I just had a lot of thoughts. Wanted to get rid of them somehow.”

“Want to talk about them?” 

You are not sure if you would be able to summon enough courage to talk about what is plaguing you, at least now, in the semi-darkness of yours and his apartment, you feel far too fragile to look inside of the boxes you keep shuffling. Unbeknownst to yourself, you begin to bite your lower lip, trying to pick the right words. Any attempt to formulate whatever excuse you have been seeking inevitably fails as Seonghwa’s lips find yours, erasing your habit, erasing your worry. Caught off-guard, a quiet gasp escapes you, only to be rewarded by an airy chuckle.

“So… not talking, then?” you press your face into the crook of his neck, sensing heat rising on your cheeks. 

“You surprised me, is all…” you trail off, slowly guiding yourself upwards, but still being unable to meet Seonghwa’s gaze.

“I’ll happily kiss all your worries away, if that’s what it takes,” his tone is humorous, and the phrase is light-hearted. His glances into your eyes, at your lips, at the strands of hair that you know he will adjust for you like he usually does, holding promise and commitment. If you so wish, he will. If you so want, he will. If you so will, he most definitely will. 

Your hands grip onto his sleeping shirt as you mumble a thanks, inching closer until your timid smile melts into his. A pleasantly languid rhythm, a moonlit paradise, drawing a masterpiece with your bodies until you are struggling to breathe. An adorable exchange of sweet nothings as you fill your lungs with air, no distinction of space nor time while you are in this trouble-less duet. A small peck on Seonghwa’s lips prompts him to pull you in again, eyes fluttering shut as he floats, flies, soars in love with you. How did you end up in a place where you thought you would never be, feeling what you had sworn you would be unable to feel? 

A gentle melancholy aches in your chest, etching the curves and edges of your ribcage, an incessant little bird, bubbling up that old sense of unease. What is this that you are living in? If you do not know, will it go away? The loud mind, an old friend and enemy, one which had accompanied you through all stages of your life, to find itself equally as bewildered as your heart, but a lot more terrified. Caught between bliss and a painful awareness of the unknown, you walk a tightrope blindfolded.

At least until a hand reaches out for you, warm, reassuring, and guides you across to an oasis. A beating heart, a familiar breath, palm pressed against your upper arm take you out of your spiralling musings, and beckon you to look in the direction of a soft, barely audible whisper of ‘my love’. 

You turn to meet Seonghwa’s eyes, endless pools of glistening brown sugar, enough to both extinguish and ignite, turn dark to light and wrong to right. A timeless poetry is in his face, the rhythm of his features casting a spell over you as you glance over them. These sleepy eyes, stunning nose and cheeks that bear a pinkish hue, plush lips caught in a miniscule pout, dishevelled hair that you know your boyfriend tried to tame, to no avail. You turn your body to meet him fully, and fall into his arms. They envelop you tightly, and you inhale the ghostly remnants of his cologne, a tantalising note of his, and your favourite shampoo, all intricately blended with fabric softener and cotton - put simply, you are home.

“Why aren’t you sleeping, hm?” he asks, voice still a little raspy. It must have been only minutes since he woke up to find you.

“I’m sorry… Did I wake you?”

“Mm… no. Your absence woke me up,” you could cry, not that you would say it, or rather have to say it. Seonghwa knows how his words affect you anyways, judging by the swift squeeze of his arms before he returns to slowly rocking side to side. 

“I just had a lot of thoughts. Wanted to get rid of them somehow.”

“Want to talk about them?” 

You are not sure if you would be able to summon enough courage to talk about what is plaguing you, at least now, in the semi-darkness of yours and his apartment, you feel far too fragile to look inside of the boxes you keep shuffling. Unbeknownst to yourself, you begin to bite your lower lip, trying to pick the right words. Any attempt to formulate whatever excuse you have been seeking inevitably fails as Seonghwa’s lips find yours, erasing your habit, erasing your worry. Caught off-guard, a quiet gasp escapes you, only to be rewarded by an airy chuckle.

“So… not talking, then?” you press your face into the crook of his neck, sensing heat rising on your cheeks. 

“You surprised me, is all…” you trail off, slowly guiding yourself upwards, but still being unable to meet Seonghwa’s gaze.

“I’ll happily kiss all your worries away, if that’s what it takes,” his tone is humorous, and the phrase is light-hearted. His glances into your eyes, at your lips, at the strands of hair that you know he will adjust for you like he usually does, holding promise and commitment. If you so wish, he will. If you so want, he will. If you so will, he most definitely will. 

Your hands grip onto his sleeping shirt as you mumble a thanks, inching closer until your timid smile melts into his. A pleasantly languid rhythm, a moonlit paradise, drawing a masterpiece with your bodies until you are struggling to breathe. An adorable exchange of sweet nothings as you fill your lungs with air, no distinction of space nor time while you are in this trouble-less duet. A small peck on Seonghwa’s lips prompts him to pull you in again, eyes fluttering shut as he floats, flies, soars in love with you. You swear you can see the stars while the taste of his cherry lip balm lingers.

As you follow him back to bed, sinking into the sheets with a sigh, inklings of somnolence settle over your slow-moving intertwined bodies. His breath turns steady, a comforting rise and fall against your back. Seonghwa’s hand is over yours, thumb making random patterns on your skin.

“Dream of me,” he says against your shoulder, grinning when he hears your sharp exhale.

This, this is love to you.
