Intertítulos: o que são? Um breve post.

Intertítulo de The Hoodlum (1919).

Eu sou fascinado por intertítulos — sua motivação de existência, sua pluralidade no design, seu tamanho, contexto e inserção de distribuição nos primórdios do cinema. Mas, você sabe o que é um intertítulo?

1. Definição e breve contexto: cinema mudo, palavras!

Tradução de INTER-TITLE, ou "inter-texto", é um cartão de título em que aparece uma sequência de texto filmado. A imagem em movimento transforma-se então em um texto em movimento — um texto gravado, estilizado, planejado para narrar em palavras o que som não poderia dizer.

2. Curiosidade engraçadinha: silêncio!

O intertítulo também já foi usado para dar avisos, como "Não fume!", "Não use chapéis grandes!". Sempre com muito estilo, como você pode notar no intertítulo de 1912 que usei de exemplo.

3. Interesse pessoal: tradução e distribuição.

A China explorou os intertítulos como uma ferramenta de exportação de seus filmes, fazendo um intertítulo bilíngue (geralmente inglês-chinês). A tradução, aliás, ajudou a fundar a indústria da legenda. Esses intertítulos bilíngues eram como legendas, a segunda linha era uma tradução, assim como as legendas funcionam em sua dinâmica no audiovisual. Essas traduções, por sinal, tem muitos problemas relacionados ao racismo e o "perigo amarelo", não vou me estender no assunto, mas você pode ler mais aqui neste link.

Então, em resumo: a China explorou esses intertítulos para disseminar a sua indústria cinematográfica e conseguir transformá-lo em uma potência global desde o cinema mudo.

4. E o Oscar vai para.....texto em movimento!

Para terminar esse post, você sabia que já houve uma categoria no Oscar em que foi premiado o melhor intertítulo? Bem, só durou uma edição.... Então talvez não tenha sido muito popular, ou muito proveitoso!

POR QUÊ EU NÃO ASSISTI A ESSE ANIME ANTES?!!!!!!!!!

HEAVEN OFFICIAL'S BLESSING talvez seja uma das melhores animações asiáticas nos últimos anos

Esse anime ou donghua (termo usado para classificar animações chinesas), para mim é algo novo e familiar ao mesmo tempo. Novo porque estou descobrindo todo um novo mundo, os donghuas, os famigerados animes chineses; eu confesso que em 2016, 2017, quando estava tendo a primeira onda disso, eu dei uma olhada em algumas como em HITORI NO SHITTA (2016-2021) e BLOODIVORES (2016), como era a primeira onda, a maioria ainda era dublado em japonês; eu lembro que achei interessante, mas nunca mais conferi outra, mas de uns anos pra cá vi a popularidade de algumas obras crescendo, e com a pandemia e o isolamento, as pessoas foram garimpando séries e filmes novos, e isso fez com que os donghuas fossem redescobertos, com obras como LINK CLICK (2021-2023) e MO DAO ZU SHI (2018-2022) ganhando cada vez mais fãs, mas eu estou embarcando nessa jornada agora, graças à três obras, LEGEND OF EXORCISM (2020-Atualmente), THE DAILY OF THE IMMORTAL KING (2020-Atualmente) e o próprio HEAVEN OFFICIAL'S BLESSING (2020), os três até o momento estão disponíveis na Netflix e Crunchyroll; e pretendo continuar com mais obras. E familiar porque apesar de eu só estar começando com os donghuas agora, eu sempre fui apaixonado pelo cinema chinês, principalmente por filmes de kung-fu, que foram uma das principais coisas que moldaram minha infância e adolescência, então esses animes me dão um certo aconchego por isso.

Agora falando do anime em si, eu realmente fiquei muito surpreso em como essa é uma obra gostosa de assistir, falando principalmente do tom e dos personagens. É um anime leve e agradável aos olhos, as cores são muito bonitas e o visual é impecável e a animação só melhora a cada episódio, sendo muito fluida e consistente, principalmente em cenas noturnas onde todas essas qualidades parecem só aumentar.

Os protagonistas são muito fofos e carismáticos; assim, esse é um anime Yaoi (romance entre garotos), e claramente os personagens se gostam, mas a China tem uma forte censura à materiais LGBT, embora homosexualidade não seja crime no país, o governo chinês não aprova muito esse tipo de material; mas acho que a censura só beneficiou a obra, os personagens dão flertadas discretas e isso me deu a impressão de que os sentimentos e a relação entre os dois fosse mais interessante de se acompanhar. Os dois são fofos e tem uma química saudável, e essas flertadas discretas também dão um bom alívio cômico.

O anime também é um Xianxia, que pra quem não sabe, é um gênero de fantasia influenciado pelo taoismo e budismo, muito popular na cultura pop, tendo vários livros, jogos, filmes e séries do gênero; devo dizer que o mundo criado, por mais que seja bem padrão de fantasia chinesa, é muito bem explorado através das lendas e histórias ao longo dessa temporada.

HEAVEN OFFICIAL'S BLESSING é uma obra linda e revigorante, e com certeza vale o seu tempo.

It is insane how much I can relate to Kine.

Adults lie when they are with strangers. They always have and they always will. Especially when it comes to movies. I met people who I realized had LIED to me about watching the “Godfather” movies.

But Kine Machiko takes it to an extreme.

Kine Machiko is a thirty-something office worker who to the public appears like a regular Japanese woman, but the truth is that she is a huge movie nerd, especially when it comes to American action movies. She hides her passion for movies from her co-workers due to unpleasant past experiences where she was judged for her very ungirly taste in movies as a school girl.

Problem with leading a double life like that is not having a friend to talk movies with.

But it looks like Kine might finally get a movie buddy when her co-worker Satou Kasumi knocks on her door and needs a place to crash after leaving her bastard husband who was cheating on her big time.

But here is the thing... Both Satou and Kine are socially awkward people. And when you have two socially awkward people living under the same roof... You get this manga :P

Besides being a fun manga about two women who has nothing in common and lives together, “Kine-san no Hitori de Kinema” is also a commentary to classic and newer movies as movie-geek Kine tries to explain her American movies to Satou who has the bad habit of overanalyzing everything, even fricking “Bad Boys 2″.

But it is not so much talking about movies like “Star Wars”, it’s about what it is like to like them. One of my favorite chapters is about Kine desperately truing to evade spoilers of any kind for the new Star Wars film, which proves to be a challenge. Something we can all relate to.

Highly recommended, even if you aren’t familiar with the movies Kine loves... which I find highly unlikely.
