The Grimm Queen
I am Salem. I am also known as the Witch Queen and the Mother of all Grimm. To see humanity drown in despair, I have kidnapped this child.

I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THEIR FACES OF AGONY AS THEY TRY AND FAIL TO SAVE HER!
---------------------------------------------------
...Why is no one coming? It's been over a week! What on Remnant are those fools doing?!
Seer: (Slips into town)
Villagers: ...so glad that beggar girl is gone. She looked so miserable, and the only person to be blamed is herself.
WHAT?! The village considers her worthless!
NO! That's impossible! I never make mistakes!
Salem: They must see you as a beggar because of your filthy clothes and dirtied hair and skin! Here, I'll clean you right up!
Nora: (Cleaned and in a new set of clothes, Hair brushed)
Nora: (Mumbles)
Salem: Excuse me? Did you just say that your very existence brings only misery and pain?
Salem: NONSENSE! I AM SALEM, THE MOST POWERFUL WITCH IN THE HISTORY OF REMNANT! I COMMAND ARMIES OF GRIMM! I AM THE ONE WHO BRINGS MISERY AND PAIN!
Salem: Now, come along dear. It's time for dinner. I want you well-fed before tucking you into bed.
---------------------------------------------------
Salem: Surely your value as my hostage has only increased since our last visit. We shall return and see how much the village wants you back.
Nora: (Flinches, Tugs Salem's dress, Mumbles)
Salem: WHAT?! You want to stay here?! So... You wish to join my Inner Circle? Hm... I will not turn anyone away, so long as they are strong...
---------------------------------------------------
Nora: !
Salem: Defeat him, and I will allow you to join my Inner Circle.
Hound: (Looks at Salem)
Salem: (Imagined) YOU FOOL! You were supposed to play with her- Not kill her! My daughter is now dead because of you! DIE!. (Blasts the Hound)
Hound: (Whimpers)
Nora: (Throws rock, Hits Hound's toe)
Hound: (Falls over, Pretends to be dead)
Nora: (Big smile, Looks to Salem)
Salem: (Nods) You pass.

do you have any jdrama recs? i really wanna start watching them! thank u sm! 💓
hi, anon! I do have some jdrama recommendations but since you didn't specify your preferred genre, I'd take it that you're fine with any. (٥⁀▽⁀ ) You can click the links to check the summary.
Bitter Blood (Partners by Blood) - the first jdrama I finished watching, the comedy in this series is great and aside from the genre mentioned, there are other elements of the series that made it worth watching. Genre: Action, Comedy, Mystery Main Cast: Satou Takeru, Watabe Atsuro
Kagi no Kakatta Heya - this got my interest because of the main cast but it definitely became one of my favorites that I still rewatch even to this day Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Drama Main Cast: Ohno Satoshi, Toda Erika, Sato Koichi
Good Doctor - this one originated from Kdrama of the same title, I watched the Korean and US versions so I can definitely say that this version has a different flavor to offer Genre: Life, Drama, Medical Main Cast: Yamazaki Kento, Ueno Juri, Fujiki Naohito
Mystery to Iunakare - I posted this one before and I even read the manga, the mysteries are not that mind-blowing but the main character is very interesting. this will have a movie that will feature one of the arcs in the manga and I am also looking forward to it. ^^ Genre: Mystery, Psychological, Life, Drama Main Cast: Suda Masaki
Shikaku Tantei Higurashi Tabito - the MC is also interesting, he had an accident in the past that lead to losing all his senses except his sense of sight and he is using his ability as a private detective. this has 2 seasons by the way so if ever you're going to watch this and enjoyed watching the first season, you might as well check season 2 Genre: Mystery, Drama, Supernatural Main Cast: Matsuzaka Tori, Tabe Mikako, Hamada Gaku, Sumida Moeno
Nobunaga Concerto - this one's based on manga, I never read the manga or watched the anime so maybe this could be another reason why I appreciated the live-action version but if you haven't read or watched the animanga, you can give this a try too Genre: Action, Military, Historical, Comedy Main Cast: Oguri Shun, Shibasaki Ko
3 Nen A Gumi: Ima kara Mina-san wa, Hitojichi Desu - you can watch this on Netflix, this is also a very good series Genre: Action, Thriller, Mystery, Psychological Main Cast: Suda Masaki, Nagano Mei
99.9: Keiji Senmon Bengoshi - MC is also weird so it got me, I have a thing for characters that are too weird but too good in what they do. this has season 2 as well ^^ Genre: Mystery, Comedy, Law Main Cast: Matsumoto Jun, Kagawa Teruyuki, Eikura Nana
Radiation House - this is also based on manga, I've read only a few chapters but I think the series was also well-made, there's romance but not to the point that it would go off the actual plot Genre: Mystery, Drama, Medical Main Cast: Kubota Masataka, Honda Tsubasa, Hirose Alice
Bokura wa Kiseki de Dekite Iru - now this one could be a total hit or a total miss for you, some find it boring but I really loved this series, if you are fine with watching a pure slice of life drama, you might also like this one, the MC is also eccentric which also became one of the main element of the story Genre: Life, Drama Main Cast: Kubota Masataka, Honda Tsubasa, Hirose Alice
So these are just some of the series I can recommend. If you're planning to check some of these and liked them too, feel free to DM me so we can talk about it more. It's not often that I encounter someone interested in jdrama. ^^ But damn, just reminiscing about these series makes me want to watch them again.

3 Nen A Gumi: Ima kara Mina-san wa, Hitojichi Desu
Watched: 18.03.2023
Nothing is as simple as it may present.I’m your local overanalyzer - trying to predict the twists, understand the plot and the motivations of the characters before the drama actually explains them, is one of my favorite things to do while watching any show. So for a drama to make me give up and just enjoy whatever they throw at me, and it all actually making sense by the end - that’s a miracle. And 3 Nen A Gimi achieved that.
I want to start with the best aspect - Suda Masaki’s performance. He ate the role, he delivered the raw emotions and the complexity of the character in literally every frame. Hiiragi Ibuki is a character you cannot get enough of. He was fascinating to watch. Trying to understand his motivations and goals and if and how “sane” his plans are - all A+ entertainment. The duality between being a strict teacher and compassionate adult never felt like a contradiction.
One could think - how can a drama that takes place in basically one room for 10 days be engaging? Will it get boring? No, it won’t. Each episode delivers a side story of students that are being hostages, while also adding layers to the overall plot. It’s a perfect buildup with many great twists. At some point you won’t trust any new revelation, doubt every scene, as you know there is more to it than the eye can see.
I already talked about Suda Masaki’s amazing performance, but the whole cast did just as well. I was quite impressed with the students - that’s a large group of young actors and actresses, some misdeliveries would not be surprising, and yet we got none of that here, each and every cast member did exactly what the role required them to do.
That said, even if I loved the overall plot and the performances, I do think one of the last scenes and revelations was an overkill in terms of presentation. They really hammered the message in my face and there was nothing subtle about it. For a drama that is all about making us “think”, they really made sure to tell you exactly what you are supposed to think by the end, instead of giving the viewers opportunity to figure it out themselves - at least in terms of details and complexity. Honestly speaking, that’s probably the only complaint I have about the show.
Overall, what an exciting and great story with a message that will forever be relevant and something worth reminding us from time to time.

@dancing-lex I have been thinking so much about your tags 🤔🤔🤔
#i really love the contrast with mikami that you pointed out #about how mikami inherently believes that the justice system is too slow and benevolent #but light did not until he got the note #really clarifies the difference between them #also it makes me think about what light DID believe before getting the note #did he have any strongly held beliefs on the subject? #did he think about it at all?
One thing that is so incredibly fascinating to me is how we know so much more about Mikami's pre-DN beliefs than Light's. I can see how that happened; they had to introduce him quickly & so info-dumped his life story & motivations, whereas with Light being the protagonist they had a lot more room to breathe & develop slowly, and never ended up thinking to circling around to his childhood because it wasn't relevant or necessary to the current path of the story. I think the only thing remotely related we really have about his previous thoughts about the justice system is that he had helped solve a few cases previously. And this was cooperatively with the police I believe, so it's not a case of him secretly hacking into their database or anything like that. There is also the fact that Light pretty readily calls the cops unintelligent from the get-go, which implies to me that at the very least he had this subconscious belief existing within him & waiting to be realized. But I do think overall, Light seems to be someone who initially thinks in his immediate present and on a small scale. He doesn't start to expand his viewpoint until his hand is forced by external entities. For that reason, my impression is that he was unhappy with certain things but it didn't occur to him to zoom out and consider them in the big picture.
But I do wonder how aware Light may be with specific issues within the Japanese system of law, through talking to his father. Only 8% of cases end up going to formal trial because prosecutors only take cases they are sure to win, which is why Japan has the highest conviction rate in the world at 99.8%. I have been looking everywhere to try to find statistics on how accurate this percentage is when considering solely cases brought in by the police, but so far no luck. Since I can't find confirmation I'm hesitant to pin it as a definite possibility. But if the numbers are similar, I wonder if watching his father try to work within this framework despite how demoralizing it seems, would affect Light's perspective.
(There is also the issue of hitojichi-shiho, or "hostage justice", on the side of the police. But I'm pretty sure Light has this part of the system completely rationalized in his mind.)
On the subject of societal structures... This also makes me wonder about Light's detestation of killing for monetary gain and greed in general. I wonder if this one of his values was inherent to him, or if he developed it later as a way to further justify himself & set him apart.
Regarding the conclusion that Light comes to after rationalizing his wrongs & accepting the death note, I have split trains of thought.
We know that Light sees the law enforcement system is morally good. But does he believe the system is good and it works, or does he believe the system is good but doesn't work?
Does he see himself as its necessary external defender, an entity that must be free from its confines, to prune off the bad branches of society that threaten it? Or does he see himself as a replacement for the system entirely, rendering it null and outdated?
I guess what I'm asking is, how self-aware is Light in realizing that, by believing that his actions are an improvement upon society, he implies that he doesn't have faith in the current system?
#when it comes to considering real-world problems i tend to be hesitant bc i am very afraid of misrepresenting real-world issues#in a way that may potentially be harmful#so please take the 2nd paragraph with a huge grain of salt#it was on my mind so i wanted to mention it#but i still have to do so much more research before i know whether there is any validity to it or not#death note

idk why I waited so long to watch mr hiiragi’s homeroom, it’s so good, and even though it’s a really well planned plot that is keeping me in suspense and right up my alley of mystery, it had my attention solely at suda masaki snapping at bullies who didn’t wanna take responsibility of their actions

this is like gokusen with explosions

"I didn't want you to become an adult who can't feel those things. Use your imagination. Be responsible for your own words and actions. Hold your ground before making a decision and make sure whether that's the right answer or not. Although everyone knows about it, they still don't do it! I want you tell the importance of thinking."
