Lots of tension in many many various meanings ---

he’s awkward at first, but will learn that she’s not fragile and well--

let’s just say there is a large variety of bruises the both of them end up wearing

lots of mini competitions in aim (kageyama wins this all the time), close up assassination (she wins this majority of the time), and sparring matches (lots of tension--- *wink wink*)

over time he becomes more protective and harsher with his training to ensure that he can, not only protect her, but so that she can fend for herself

lots of texts in regards to meeting places and what sort of training regime they’re going to going through for the day

they have a board in the common room of how many wins and losses they both have between each other

everyone in the Karasuno group literally know of the sexual tension between the two of them and have a big bet pile going on when they’re going to outright have their way with each other

that comes within the third month of training with Kageyama, and to the surprise of some (and none to others) the one who wins that bet is Hinata who grins cheekily over his winnings as both Kageyama and her appear with hickeys littering on both of their necks

though of course that doesn’t mean they both don’t stop training together 

they sorta make it a game now with their own sort of bets in between to further motivate each other

example: kageyama ended up losing one week and he came out in a tutu with clown make up and everyone was having trouble breathing because they were laughing too hard

you can best expect Kags got his revenge that same night

While game night was always fun and... well, games, Tsukishima really preferred when the casino wasn’t as full with the ‘other Yakuza members’... like certain hitmen who got on his nerves (Kuroo) or certain lures that ticked him off (Oikawa), though -- of course -- out of politeness he would never ever mention names or point fingers...

Seeing all these familiar faces, it was hard to ignore a certain freckle face who had always been looking up to him so vigorously. Kei on one hand was immensely flattered about Tadashi’s open manner to address his emotions so carelessly, speaking his mind without much of any filter, but he also felt as if it was not the right thing ---- especially since he was not a hardworker unlike others. Simply going with the flow, being a snarky cunt here and there, though that’s about it. 

“You’re tastefully late for the party, Yamaguchi...” The blondhead teased the other, for there was no specific time to actually arrive, it was just really hilarious to see him all anxious and nervous. “So, are you here to have a drink or two, or are you going to drive some idiot back home like last time?” Of course said ‘idiot’ was Kageyama, but the bespectacled male hardly had it in himself to find nice words for anyone... really, anyone but Tadashi, that was. Even then, they were sparse and rare...

The tension you felt in the car was absolutely suffocating. To think that this was an atmosphere you had to get used to had you reeling. Though before you could really delve deeper into your own spiraling thoughts you were quickly shaken out of it as Kageyama held something out in front of you.

Confused, you gave him a look. Your head tilted slighty with your brows pinched and a pout playing at your lips as you tried to figure out what he was giving you. Instead he rolled his eyes before grabbing your own hand and placing the item into the center of your palm.

Looking down, you found yourself staring at a small bud. An in ear piece. 

“We use these to communicate. Hinata-boke already has his in. You’ll be able to hear how things go on his end but you’ll still be shadowing and watching me.” He began, as he began adjusting and pulling on an intricate looking harness. 

Staring blankly, you observed his motions before letting out a yelp as a bullet-proof vest was thrown at you. 

“Don’t lost focus when you’re on the field. As long as he follows the plan thoroughly we won’t have any unnecessary scuffles and you won’t need to try to fight on your first shadowing.” 

Though your heart seemed to tell you otherwise as you felt your throat begin to close up. The thought of already having to fight and actually engage in combat? Just when you started? It set an uneasy feeling in your stomach as you tried to quell the uneasiness you felt about the whole situation.

Noticing this, Kageyma gave you a once over before recalling what he had seen Sugawara do to the other rookies that joined the team. Hesitantly, he reached his hand out.

To your utter surprise, you felt a warm hand drop itself onto your bowed head as you shifted slightly to look at where the arm came from, and immediately your cheeks flushed red as the male before you gently ruffled your hair. A flush on his own cheeks as he refused to look at you. His words became jumbled as he spoke, your ears straining to make out the words as he pulled his hand back before finishing his equipment check.

Though before you could really process whatever was said the car you both sat in promptly stopped as the driver, whom you now knew was Tanaka --the one who jumped in during the spar with the other 2 and reluctant 1-- gave you both a confident look.

“I know you’ll give a nice kill Kageyama, you though. I wish you luck! Remember that your senpai has your back! Don’t let him rile you up too much!” 

Surprised, you could only nod as you listened to the older male before returning his confident look with an uneasy smile. Rile you up? Was Kageyama that sort of person? You couldn’t really dwell much on the thought as you felt yourself being dragged out of the car and into the chilly night. 

Without really even thinking, your legs followed the now silent sniper as he led you both towards a business building. With all the lights off you knew that the desolate building was closed and would resume business the following day. Of course that didn’t stop the man before you as he picked the lock with skilled ease and cocked his head. A gesture for you to enter first.

Hesitantly, you did so. Ennoshita’s words echoing in your ear to always be alert or your surroundings and to scout the area before allowing your teammates to enter in. With that, you held a hand back to keep the sniper from entering as your (e/c) slowly scanned the vicinity. Your action however did not go unnoticed as the sniper stared at you with quiet surprise.

You were a rookie, someone who was freshly picked off to join their dark game, yet here you were easily and swiftly moving as if you had done this at least a couple of times.

And in truth, you had. Scouting for desolate and abandoned buildings during your short time of homelessness had you tuned to being alert and overly cautious.

Once deeming the area safe, you motioned for the taller male to follow.

“...No one told me you had prior experience.” 

His voice gave you goosebumps as you fought the urge to melt into the floor. He was too close-- too much so that you could practically feel his heart beating against your back. His breath gently fanning down your neck as he joined you in scouting the next couple of floors.

“It’s just something I picked up before I was recruited...” You murmured, keeping your gaze anywhere but on him. The two of you then moving towards the top floor with no discrepancies as he began his set up.

You watched as icy blue turned metallic blue as he began his set up. It was swift, almost meticulous as you found yourself lost in the motions before he had finally finished setting up. He laid on the ground, keeping low as he took a brief peek into the scope before letting out a slight hum as he beckoned you over.

Taking note of his lowered form, you crouched down and waddled your way towards him. Your cheeks flushed as you saw his reaction. A slight pink dust tinted his cheeks as he tried to keep himself from laughing.

“What are you? A penguin? Just come here.”

Huffing, you gave up on your stealth and crawled over to him. Though to your absolute shock and mortification, he tugged you down so you laid on your stomach next to him. His body then moving to carefully cover over yours as you flushed deeply at the intimate position.

It didn’t seem to hit him at first, but eventually he realized and stuttered out an explanation as his cheeks darkened in color.

“A-Ah this-- it’s well I have to keep you s-safe, but you need to l-l..learn how to s...snipe, or w-well, at least how I s-snipe...” He grumbled out before once again adjusting himself.

Your heart leapt into your throat as you desperately sought to keep your flustered cheeks under control. Thankfully, your distraction came as Hinata’s voice-- the ginger from the training field-- spoke.

“Are you there Bakayama?” 

The simple jest had you smiling to yourself as Kageyama let out an irritated sigh as he let out a string of curses before replying himself.

“Of course I am boke. What’s the situation?”

“Target is on the move, ETA 10 minutes until we’re at spot.”

“Understood. Don’t mess this up Boke. I don’t want to be on cleaning duty for the 3rd time this week.”

You couldn’t help but smile, despite how utterly fucked up this whole situation was. Their bickering told you, and reminded you of their humanity. The emotions they felt were real, and they weren’t just mindless killing machines.

Though your thoughts were cut short as you felt the male above you shift. His voice sending another wave of chills down your spine as he spoke.

“Look through the scope. I’ll give you an idea of the sniper’s point of view...”

Obeying, you shifted to peer through the scope, though of course in a way that kept you from pressing your back against his chest. This failed though as he noticed your quaking arms as he practically pulled you into a more comfortable position.

Suddenly, you felt your mind short circuit as your face flushed in a dark shade of red that could put ripened strawberries to shame as you bowed your head. Attempting to collect and bring your thoughts together. You could reflect on this whole...situation when you’re back in the car. For now, you had to complete the task presented to you.

With that, you let out a small huff before leaning forward to peer through the scope. The world beyond it had you almost spiraling from how close and focused the shot was. The building that you were certain would be undistinguished from the roofs suddenly became crystal clear to your (e/c) eyes.

Slowly, you pulled back as you settled yourself back onto the ground as Hinata’s voice traveled through the ear piece. Kageyama, not really paying attention to your form below him, positioned himself accordingly as the target began to come into view.

Bringing your gaze up, you felt as though a bucket of cold water splashed onto you. The concentrated and cold demeanor that Kageyama usually adorned was back 10 fold. The expression on his face making your heart skip a couple of beats as he furrowed his brows lightly. 

You went to move, to help him adjust for a better shot, but was stopped short as his knee was forced between your own legs as he ground himself. Practically pressing up against you as he refocused.

Despite being faint, you could hear his words from the shooting range echo in your mind.

“Watch & Learn”

With newfound confidence, you steeled yourself and focused on him. The way he positioned himself, how he moved, the way he breathed, and the steady hand on the trigger.

If it weren’t so wrong it would’ve looked utterly beautiful-- elegant really. 

Then, just like that a single shot ran through the night and then sudden silence. You couldn’t hear anything, or at least you think you didn’t. You watched as Kageyama stayed frozen though once Hinata’s voice broke through you saw him relax. 

You took mental note of this. There could’ve been a chance he missed and needed a quick 2nd shot, which explained his frozen state until Hinata spoke.

The bubbly ginger telling the sniper it was a clean and quick kill and that he’d wrap it up. With that, the male pulled back from you. The warmth he held evaporating alongside with him as he began to pack his gear.

“You probably have questions. Though I’m sure witnessing your first kill is gonna over take your mind. So I’ll answer questions tomorrow.” Was the simple statement, and honestly you couldn’t help but be thankful as it was true.

After getting over the intimate scenes and closeness the overwhelming realization of someone’s death loomed over your mind. Hell you didn’t even notice that you were being dragged back to base.

It wasn’t until you were in your own room and the door shutting behind you that you let the weight of what you saw crash down upon you. It was sick, it was disgusting, and you saw it happen. You knew who did it, you knew. You knew. 

Yet...you couldn’t deny that the money that would come from it was good. It would help you survive at least. Sighing, you went and showered. Cleaning yourself of the day’s grime and sweat before laying down in your bed. 

Was this really the right decision?

Unrest churned below the surface of the sea, mirrored in the shaking clouds that had began to dye the sky with black. Whispering of an assassination spread like fresh spilled blood. Up above, the wind snatched the sails of a lone ship in a way that was dangerous.

On it, Sawamura Daichi lay fast asleep in his hammock. It swayed as though it were a cradle, pushed by the sharp hands of the Ocean Goddesses.

Alternate Universe where the Karasuno boys are a team of hitmen that work under Takeda and Ukai to try and rid the world of underground schemes. During one of their missions, Kageyama may have accidentally kidnapped (?) someone who literally will not leave. Which wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't so obsessed with hanging around Kageyama so much, and if he wasn't being chased by the same people the team is trying to hunt down.

This will be a (hopefully) fun mess that I'm so excited to write. Tags and characters will be added as I write more! The characters have been aged up so they're in their twenties, still the same age difference from each other. I did move a few age orders around slightly, with Daichi the oldest and Yamaguchi the youngest because it fit better.

It wasn’t a career choice your parents would’ve approved of, but it definitely did help pay the bills. Especially after graduating high school and being thrown out in the cold harsh world, but what more could you do? With the desire and need to survive, it would only be a matter of months-- hell maybe even weeks before you were suddenly another statistic on the list of homeless that just got caught up in the wrong thing.

Luckily, that never came to be as you stood before a rather intimidating male. As far as you were aware, the person who recruited you said your mentor would be someone close to your age, but did they have to look this intimidating? Not to mention he looked absurdly good in the sleeveless turtleneck. 

“...Osu.” 

Jumping out of your fantasies, you finally met the icy blue gaze of the male before you. Bringing your own hand up into a small wave you couldn’t help but feel nervous about this initiation mission. You didn’t have many skills besides people watching and some basic medical knowledge; yet here they wanted you to already handle a gun? 

“Here, you can use the pistol for the basics. I’ll take you out back to do some quick warm-ups before I let you shadow me.” 

Calm and collected, he turned and began walking towards the back of the base. Though as you failed to follow an irate look passed his features as he gave you a sharp glare.

Gulping, you hurried to his side as the heavy weight of the gun sat on your palms.

Once outback, you couldn’t help but notice the loud commotion to your left. Chancing a glance, you saw a ginger haired boy running around, sparring against another with jet black hair with a bleached patch in the center. 

At first nothing seemed out of the ordinary, though that soon quickly changed as you jolted in shock at the yelling and rather chaotic way the pair decided to spar. Not even a moment later did another join and another was...dragged? 

“BOKE!” 

Surprised, you looked to your mentor to see him seething, about ready to turn the ginger haired boy into dust as the ginger gulped, nervously smiling as he began backing up.

“Oh! Kageyama! Ahaha, I know you said you were going to train the rookie-- but I just couldn’t pass by an opportunity to train with Noya-senpai since he came back!” The ginger whined as your mentor, now identified as Kageyama, went to take a step forward. 

Though before he could even so much as strangle the poor ginger, you subconsciously went and grabbed at his shirt. Pinching the soft yet sturdy material as you tugged. Of course this brought all the attention onto you as you kept your gaze away from his piercing, yet confused gaze.

“You still need to teach me right? You’d only waste time if you went and did...whatever you were going to do.” You muttered, willing for the group of rambunctious boys to take this as their cue to leave.

Thankfully, they did-- with the help of the dragged member -- they escaped the backyard as the one called Noya obnoxiously laughed at the ginger haired boy’s wallowing. 

Slowly, you let go of his shirt as you kept your gaze away from him. His scrutinizing stare making you uncomfortable as you shifted from side to side. 

“So...are you gonna teach me?” 

Silence. Uncomfortable and dreadful silence. Unable to take anymore of it, you finally looked up to apologize but was cut short as he looked away. Slightly flustered before excusing himself to set up some cans.

“....huh?” Confusion was all that took over your mind as you stared at the way he stiffly moved about before beckoning you over.

You did as he instructed with hesitance as he began showing you the basics of how to not only hold and use the gun, but to care for it so that it continued to work for years on. Luckily, his awkward and stiff motions began to relax as the previous mini episode seemed to evaporate from both of your minds.

Then came the part where you had to shoot. Taking aim, you felt your heart pound heavily against your chest as you lined your shot up to the can before shooting. The recoil making you yelp as you lost your footing briefly, though instead of falling or tripping over your unsteady feet you fell back into a strong and sturdy chest.

Flushed, you apologized as Kageyama looked to the side in embarrassment. 

“You...here. Your form is all wrong. Don’t just point and shoot.” 

He began, shifting so that he was curled over you. His hands over your shaking ones as he helped you cock the gun and aim. 

“Take a deep breath... concentrate.” 

His words were soft, his breath tickling your ear as he aimed alongside with you before another shot rang out into the world. A clean shot into the can, and your own brightening face as you looked up at him with admiration. All sense of embarrassment having to have left your body as you felt the adrenaline rush into your body.

“Holy shit that was so cool!” 

Before you could even try again with another shot, you saw Ennoshita, the one who told you that Kageyama would be your mentor and who you’d be shadowing until your initiation mission.

“You both should head out now. The target is on the move. Hinata is already on his way to meet with them.” 

With a simple nod, Kageyama went indoors to collect the necessary equipment he’d need for the assignment tonight. Though, before he abandoned you to get ready yourself, he looked back at you. A smirk on his once flushed face as he simply uttered three words that had you shake in excitement.

“Watch & Learn.”
