It's been a hectic week around Chez Tryer, running around, shuffling digital paperwork, baking pies, you know, that kind of thing, but today, in the US, we avert our eyes from the myths of a meal between murderous, bumbling pilgrims and their native saviors, and give thanks for what we have. Personally, I'm thankful for a roof over my head, Pie, and all of you!--who saw me sharing the love of podcasts and said, "let's follow this person and see what they review next!" It's not the biggest band of people, but I'm happy we're all here together. 😊 And so, let's talk about The History Chicks @thehistorychicks The History Chicks is a solidly made podcast created by Beckett Graham and Susan Vollenweider all about remarkable women in history. They're not professional historians, but they're enthusiastic amateurs, much like a good half of the podosphere, and they do a great job of presenting the material, while also having genuine enthusiasm for the history, and good relationship and banter. And they do oodles of research into these ladies before they do the show--books and books and videos and things. They really pack a lot of info into an hour, and at the end of each episode they talk about their favorite books and materials that they came across in their research. From Cleopatra to Georgia O'Keeffe to Ida B. Wells, The Chicks have got you covered. And since the show has been going since 2011, they're bound to have something you'll love. If you enjoy history, iconic women, and well research non-fiction content, then The History Chicks is for you! I know I'm thankful for them.

A Funeral is held at The Staples Center in LA, The place where he was just rehearsing for "This Is It" the night before he died... It was HUGE, but it had to be... It was Beautiful... It was life changing... and it was excruciatingly painful... There were prefomances that day and moments that will stay with me forever... Another Service would be held that September to bury him at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles... hey! re: why did beth have to die in little women; have you seen the idea that she based little women on her life, and that beth was based on her sister anna? alcott herself had three sisters, and so each sister got a march sister companion. beth was anna who passed away from scarlet fever complications after initial sickness (like beth does). the difference is that apparently anna didn't go quietly & was v bitter, so alcott rewrote her as like a saint. heard this on a historychicks podcast!
