A Kashmiri Pandit woman devotee holds incense as she prays at the temple during the annual Hindu festival of the Kheer Bhawani on May 28, 2023 in Tullmull, 25 km east of Srinagar. Large numbers of Indian government forces were deployed in the area for the safety of Kashmiri Pandit pilgrims to pay obeisance at the revered Kheer Bhawani temple in the Ganderbal district. Thousands of Pandit (Hindu) devotees visit the Spring every year with plates of sugar and milk and other sweets to pay homage to the Goddess Kheer Bhawani. Some 200,000 Kashmiri Pandits fled the region in the early nineties at the start of an insurgency against Indian rule, mainly to the Hindu-dominated southern city of Jammu. Police say militants are attacking Pandits who returned as part of various rehabilitation schemes launched by the government.

Khushi & Shyam
Upon rewatching the kidnapping track - barring the James Bond ghosts in Manorama & Khushi, Anjali and Manorama doubting Khushi’s character (cause I’ve had enough of her character assassination), and Khushi honeytrapping Shyam (ew to the kheer feeding scenes cause wtf) - I realized I deeply enjoyed the Shyam and Khushi scenes.
Yeah, that’s my hot take. Upon deeper pondering I realized that Khushi & Shyam might just be an underrated dynamic in the show. Almost ALL their scenes are stellar simply because of their chemistry and interesting history.
You see, Shyam as a character is very flat against Arnav. Each hate the other. Shyam wants Arnav’s money and Arnav warns him to stay off Khushi and attempt being the husband he pretended to be so long to Anjali. It’s just that. Literally all of their scenes post the terrace misunderstanding is a loop of this and Shyam going “yay I’ll win your trust and then you see Saale Sahab” and bro just has an Arnav protection charm cause Arnav doesn’t confront Shyam even ONCE when he sees him flirt with Khushi.
Rather Arnav abuses Khushi instead. Like… why would you not threaten Shyam as well? Arnav can literally financially choke Shyam further (I love that scene where he closes the joint account - more of that Arnav!)
On the other hand Shyam and Khushi are absolutely electric with Arnav out of the picture. During elopement I rolled my eyes, again, that all the loop was Shyam harasses Khushi, Khushi is like “lemme just do nothing about this” (cause Arnav’s misunderstanding needs to be constant!) and that’s it. Because Khushi is eternal helpless damsel who legit just needs to be mad or abused.
But with Arnav out of the picture Khushi and Shyam rise as characters more than “Arnav’s misunderstanding”.
They have to acknowledge the layers they wrote into both of them. The whole fact that Shyam and Khushi were best friends at one point of time! To think every relationship Khushi has, has betrayed or hurt her irreconcilably at one point of time and it makes my heart hurt for her. Her aunt, adoptive mother, sister, friend and husband.
Barring the villain Shyam is, during the Gupta House stay he was the only vocal advocate of Khushi in the house. Yes, Shashi and Payal always supported Khushi, but neither prevented Khushi from constantly being belittled.
Rather the max was they’d tsk over Buaji’s comments or laughing agree that she is mad.
But Shyam was the first to point out that there is a certain stillness and maturity behind the chatter. He is, perhaps, the only character who understood Khushi. He was the one who shifted Khushi’s narrative in her house. No she’s not crazy, she’s responsible. No she’s not childish, she’s an empath who would do everything to make everyone smile.
She’s having a bad day? Don’t badger her with questions, rather cheer her up with her favourite food.
(Khushi had a bad day when she joined AR, and she had a bad day when she left AR - but you see the marked difference in the way the house responds to her bad days with/without Shyam’s influence. With him, the house, for the first time, cheers Khushi up and lets her have her bad day).
When Khushi comes back from Janmashtami, humiliated, she has to spend time comforting her family and pacifying them. She has to push her insults away and bring a smile on everyone’s face. But Shyam actually asks her how she is and gives her the space to talk about her own feelings and humiliation.
She actually finds someone with whom she can share her pain without having to care for the other’s concern.
It’s liberating and the foundation of a truest friendship. I feel so bad for her that she lost this friendship!
And to see this strong friendship be a mask for Shyam’s dark deeds and desires is heartbreaking but writing wise - oof, that hurt! Imagine a false friendship being the healthiest relationship Khushi has had with anyone (thank God NK & Lavanya existed!)
The only time Shyam is wrong about Khushi is when he’s twisted in his romantic delusions. Which makes him such a compelling villain because you cannot figure him out. What are his motivations?
And with only Shyam in the house and Khushi manipulating him instead - we see the justified pain in Khushi! Like hell yes, Arnav did destroy your life. Hell yes, grieve for the fact that man gave you nothing but pain. They’re spitting facts to each other while trying to outwit each other.
Every scene is a definition of how twisted Shyam is or how intelligent Khushi is and how each takes turns manipulating the other and it’s literally super thrilling to watch. Shyam asserts that his only goal is Khushi - suddenly making him a freeloader who only wants to destroy “ArShi” makes no sense and rips away a lot of his character and motivations.
Also, begrudgingly, Shyam and Khushi exactly know each other too well. She knows where all his mind can go - and utilizes his obsession with her against him for he thinks he’s an ethical man regardless (I love the whole getting him to sign papers moment, she just pulled a Shyam on Shyam!) and Shyam knows Khushi’s weakness is family and utilizes that to buy time.
Khushi’s attachment to Arnav is as unhealthy as Shyam’s attachment to Khushi. Like seriously Arnav insults her five times before heading to the airport and Khushi isn’t afforded even a second of anger or grief. Like she literally admitted farak and he still walks off (yes he was going to go back to Khushi but he did break her heart at that moment).
And all the show keeps shoving to us is how Khushi wants to prove her innocence to a man who really does not deserve it (I’m not faulting Arnav’s anger, although tbh his anger makes sense a lot of times! But the abuse? No way).
Khushi’s deep love for Arnav right when he has been nothing but insulting (he literally told her he’s glad her parents are dead) and her rushing to prove her innocence and have constant Rabba Ve’s after he leaves instead of any rightful anger or hurt make like… no sense to me. Was that Stockholm syndrome talking?
I just find such richer writing in some of their scenes and dynamic that we get a full intelligent heroine and intelligent villain vibes where the audience is treated as smart.
Khushi’s hatred for Shyam is also so good and justified than her love and need for Arnav at this point.
I can imagine Arnav whispering an “I love you” breaking Khushi down to her going through an obsessive phase of finding Arnav and wanting him and his love and worrying for his safety. But until that point Shyam and Khushi make so much sense as villain and hero because Khushi rises beyond a star plus “bahu” who only wants her husband’s love regardless of his anger.
This is a woman wronged and she’s going to fix it by outwitting the villain.
Hell yes.
Also, Shyam is totally Khushi’s villain - a fact that the show forgets.
And no, this doesn’t mean I hate Arnav. His character consistency is brilliant. Nor does this mean I’m shipping Khushi with a man who harassed her multiple times, nope.
It’s just that this show also did something great apart from romance and romantic chemistry between the leads and that needs to be noted.

National Rice Pudding Day
All we can think of is a bowl of some good old rice pudding this National Rice Pudding Day taking place on August 9. For many of us, starting from our childhood to our adulthood, rice pudding has been a staple in our diets. Made with a base of rice cooked in milk and sweetened with sugar, syrup, or honey, rice pudding can be found in many cultures and cuisines all over the world. Of course, each region has its own unique take on the dish. Some add nuts and spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, or cardamom to it, while others throw in a dash of wine to give it that wow factor. For a more fragrant look and feel, many people in the Middle East also add pistachio slivers and rose petals before serving it. You can have it hot or cold, and as a breakfast dish or a dessert after dinner. So, how are you having your rice pudding on August 9?
History of National Rice Pudding Day
National Rice Pudding Day celebrates the ancient rice pudding dish in all its glory and greatness. While we may know the sweet version of the dish today, did you know that it actually started out as a savory treat? It is difficult to pinpoint the exact location and time of the creation of rice pudding, but many scholars believe it may have originated in either ancient China or in ancient India. Both these countries have a long history of including rice as well as sugar in their religious and cultural activities, so it only makes sense that the combination of the two may have been included in their cuisines as well. ‘Kheer,’ which is Hindi for rice pudding, was first recorded in ancient India in 6000 B.C., and it was included as a staple in a prescribed Ayurvedic diet regime. It is also interesting to note that the early versions of the Indian rice pudding did not actually include rice or sugar. In place of rice, Indians made use of the cereal grain known as sorghum.
Elsewhere in the world, rice pudding was being made with rice. The grain had reached Europe through exports delivered by water or the Silk Road in the 1300s. Because it was being exported from Asia and was not being grown in Europe, rice automatically became extremely expensive. Thus, rice pudding could only be enjoyed by the elite and royalty of European countries. Before the 1500s, rice pudding was savory in nature. It was made with rice being boiled in a broth with saffron and almond milk. Chefs started including sugar into the dish to make it sweet, and soon a sweetened rice pudding started gaining popularity. It was in the eighteenth century that rice pudding became more commonplace and less expensive, all thanks to globalization. The lowered rice prices meant the grain was in easier reach of the masses, and in today’s world, it is considered to be a cheap, but filling meal.

Katarni Rice: The Aromatic Jewel of Bihar
India is a land of diverse cultures, traditions, and cuisines. Among its vast array of culinary treasures, rice holds a special place. In the eastern state of Bihar, one rice variety stands out for its unique aroma, flavor, and heritage: Katarni rice. Known for its distinctive fragrance and small, slender grains, Katarni rice is not just a staple food but a cultural and economic symbol of the region.
What is Katarni Rice?
Katarni rice is a premium variety of rice that originates from Bihar, primarily cultivated in the Bhagalpur, Banka, and Munger districts. It is famous for its unparalleled fragrance and fine texture. The name “Katarni” comes from the Hindi word "katarn" which means "cutting," referring to the unique shape of its grains. This rice has been a favorite for traditional dishes, especially during festive occasions and celebrations.
The Unique Characteristics of Katarni Rice
Aromatic Excellence: One of the most remarkable features of Katarni rice is its natural aroma. The fragrance is subtle yet captivating, making it a preferred choice for special recipes like pulao and biryani.
Slender and Elongated Grains: The grains of Katarni rice are small and slender, giving it a visually appealing texture when cooked.
Soft Texture: When cooked, Katarni rice becomes soft and fluffy, making it ideal for dishes that require a delicate texture.
Rich Flavor: The taste of Katarni rice is mildly sweet, enhancing the flavors of any dish it accompanies.
Historical Significance
Katarni rice has a history that dates back centuries. It was once a prized possession of the royalty and wealthy families in Bihar. Over the years, it became a staple for traditional Bihari dishes. However, the cultivation of Katarni rice has faced challenges due to competition from hybrid varieties and declining agricultural practices.
Cultivation Process
The cultivation of Katarni rice requires a specific climate and soil type. It thrives in the alluvial soil of Bihar’s Gangetic plains, which is rich in nutrients and retains water well. Farmers usually use organic methods to grow Katarni rice, ensuring its quality and authenticity.
The process involves:
Sowing: Seeds are sown during the Kharif season, typically from June to July.
Water Management: Katarni rice requires careful irrigation. Excess water can harm the crop, so farmers ensure a balanced supply.
Harvesting: The crop is harvested between November and December when the grains have fully matured.
Culinary Uses
Katarni rice is a versatile ingredient in Indian kitchens. Its aromatic properties make it perfect for:
Sweet Dishes: Katarni rice is often used in traditional sweets like kheer and payasam. The aroma adds an extra layer of indulgence to these desserts.
Pulao and Biryani: The fragrance and soft texture of Katarni rice make it an excellent choice for pulao and biryani, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Everyday Meals: Apart from festive dishes, Katarni rice pairs well with dal, curries, and vegetables, offering a delightful taste in daily meals.
Challenges in Preservation
Despite its rich legacy, Katarni rice faces several challenges:
Low Awareness: Many people outside Bihar are unaware of Katarni rice and its unique qualities.
Competition from Hybrid Varieties: High-yield hybrid rice varieties often overshadow traditional ones like Katarni.
Climate Change: Unpredictable weather patterns affect its cultivation.
Lack of Proper Branding: Unlike Basmati rice, Katarni rice lacks global recognition, limiting its market potential.
Efforts to Promote Katarni Rice
To preserve this heritage grain, several initiatives have been undertaken:
Geographical Indication (GI) Tag: Katarni rice has received a GI tag, which ensures its authenticity and protects it from imitation.
Government Support: The Bihar government has launched schemes to promote Katarni rice cultivation and support farmers.
Organic Farming: Many farmers have adopted organic methods to meet the growing demand for chemical-free produce.
Awareness Campaigns: Various organizations and food enthusiasts are working to spread awareness about Katarni rice’s uniqueness.
Why Choose Katarni Rice?
For those who appreciate quality and tradition, Katarni rice is a must-try. Here are some reasons to choose it:
Health Benefits: Katarni rice is rich in nutrients and free from harmful chemicals, making it a healthier option.
Cultural Connection: Buying Katarni rice supports local farmers and helps preserve Bihar’s agricultural heritage.
Exquisite Taste: The aroma and flavor of Katarni rice elevate any dish to a gourmet level.
How to Cook Katarni Rice Perfectly
To enjoy the best of Katarni rice, follow these simple cooking tips:
Rinse Thoroughly: Wash the rice 2-3 times to remove excess starch.
Soak Before Cooking: Soak the rice for 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.
Use the Right Water Ratio: For every cup of rice, use 1.5 cups of water.
Cook on Low Flame: After bringing the water to a boil, simmer on low flame until the rice is cooked.
Fluff with a Fork: Let the rice rest for a few minutes before gently fluffing it with a fork.
Conclusion
Katarni rice is more than just a food ingredient; it is a symbol of Bihar’s rich agricultural and cultural heritage. Its unparalleled aroma, flavor, and texture make it a favorite among food lovers. Exploring the Rich History of Indian Dairy Sweets
India’s culinary landscape is incomplete without its diverse range of dairy-based sweets. From the creamy richness of kulfis to the melt-in-your-mouth delicacy of pedas, dairy has always been at the heart of Indian desserts. At Made of Milk, we take pride in preserving the tradition of these sweets by crafting them with the freshest ingredients sourced directly from our farm.
Let’s dive into the rich history of Indian dairy sweets, exploring their cultural significance, regional varieties, and the secrets behind their timeless appeal.
The Origins of Indian Dairy Sweets
Indian dairy sweets have their roots in ancient times. Texts like the Vedas mention milk and its derivatives, such as butter and curd, as offerings to deities. The concept of turning milk into sweets likely originated in temples, where priests experimented with creating prasadam (food offerings) from milk, sugar, and other local ingredients.
Over centuries, these temple delicacies became a part of household traditions, evolving into the desserts we know today.
Cultural Significance
Dairy sweets hold a special place in Indian culture:
Festivals: No Indian festival is complete without sweets. Whether it’s gulab jamun during Diwali or rasgullas for Durga Puja, these desserts symbolize joy and celebration.
Weddings: Milk-based sweets like kheer and malpua are served as part of the wedding feast, symbolizing prosperity and happiness for the newlyweds.
Prayers and Offerings: Dairy sweets like peda and sandesh are commonly used as offerings to gods and goddesses during pujas.
Regional Varieties
India’s diversity is beautifully reflected in its sweets, with each region boasting unique dairy-based desserts:
North India: Gulab jamun, made from khoya (reduced milk), is a favorite in the north. Other popular sweets include ras malai and milk cake.
East India: Bengal is famous for its rasgullas and sandesh, made from freshly curdled chhena (paneer).
West India: Maharashtra’s shrikhand, a yogurt-based dessert flavored with saffron and cardamom, is a classic.
South India: Mysore pak, though not entirely dairy-based, often includes ghee, showcasing the versatility of milk fats.
The Science Behind Dairy Sweets
The creation of dairy sweets is an art and a science. The process often involves reducing milk to concentrate its fats and proteins, which gives sweets their rich texture and flavor. For instance:
Khoya (Mawa): Made by simmering milk, khoya serves as the base for sweets like barfi and peda.
Chhena (Paneer): Freshly curdled milk is pressed to form paneer, which is used in sweets like rasgulla and sandesh.
Condensed Milk: By reducing milk and adding sugar, you get a creamy base perfect for desserts like kulfi.
Secrets to Perfecting Dairy Sweets
At Made of Milk, we follow traditional methods to ensure our sweets are authentic and delicious. Here are some secrets to making perfect dairy sweets:
Use Fresh Milk: The quality of milk is paramount. Farm-fresh milk ensures a rich, creamy texture and better flavor.
Slow Cooking: Traditional sweets require patience. Slow cooking allows flavors to develop naturally.
Balanced Sweetness: The sweetness should complement the dairy’s natural richness, not overpower it.
Fresh Ingredients: High-quality nuts, saffron, and cardamom enhance the taste of dairy-based sweets.
Modern Takes on Traditional Sweets
While traditional recipes remain beloved, modern adaptations are also gaining popularity. For instance:
Fusion Desserts: Kulfi cheesecakes or rasmalai cupcakes blend Indian and Western flavors.
Healthier Alternatives: Low-sugar or sugar-free versions of sweets cater to health-conscious individuals.
Vegan Dairy Sweets: With advancements in plant-based dairy, traditional recipes are being recreated for vegan diets.
Made of Milk: Continuing the Tradition
At Made of Milk, we honor the heritage of Indian dairy sweets by crafting them with care and authenticity. Our farm-to-table approach ensures that each sweet is made with the freshest ingredients, free from artificial additives. Whether it’s the indulgent malai kulfi or the classic peda, every bite promises the taste of tradition.
Why Dairy Sweets Will Always Be Special
The charm of dairy sweets lies in their ability to bring people together. They are a part of our celebrations, our prayers, and our everyday lives. In a rapidly modernizing world, these traditional sweets remind us of our roots and the simple joys of life.

#Saffron vs. #Safflower: Unraveling the Culinary Confusion
Tumblr media
Saffron and safflower, despite their similar names and vibrant hues, are two distinct botanical entities with unique flavors, aromas, and applications in the culinary world. While they both contribute to the world of gastronomy and have a long history of use, they are often confused due to their names and the crimson tones they impart to dishes. In this comprehensive exploration, we’ll delve deep into the differences between saffron and safflower, shedding light on their origins, characteristics, culinary uses, and even their potential health benefits.
#Saffron: The King of Spices
Saffron, known as “the king of spices,” is one of the world’s most expensive and sought-after culinary ingredients. Its scientific name is Crocus sativus, and it originates from the stigma (the female reproductive part) of the saffron crocus flower. The stigmas are painstakingly hand-harvested, making saffron labor-intensive and pricey.
#Characteristics of Saffron
Saffron imparts a distinctive flavor, often described as floral, honey-like, and slightly earthy, to dishes. Its aroma is equally unique, with hints of honey and hay. Saffron’s vibrant reddish-orange hue is not only visually striking but also enhances the visual appeal of food.
#Culinary Uses of Saffron
Saffron is an integral ingredient in various cuisines around the world. It’s a key component of the Spanish dish “paella,” the Indian dessert “kheer,” and the Italian risotto “risotto alla Milanese.” It is also used in Persian cuisine, particularly in dishes like “saffron rice” and “kebabs.” Due to its potent flavor and color, saffron is used sparingly and is typically steeped in warm water or milk before adding it to recipes.
#Health Benefits of Saffron
Saffron has been touted for its potential health benefits. It contains antioxidants like crocin and safranal, which may have anti-inflammatory and mood-improving effects. Some studies suggest that saffron may aid in managing depression and anxiety, although more research is needed to establish these claims definitively.
#Safflower: A Versatile Oilseed
Safflower, scientifically known as Carthamus tinctorius, is an oilseed crop. Unlike saffron, safflower is not harvested for its petals or stigmas but for its oil-rich seeds. The safflower plant has bright yellow or orange flowers that can be mistaken for saffron crocus due to their similar color.
#Characteristics of Safflower
Safflower oil is known for its mild, neutral flavor and high smoke point, making it suitable for various cooking methods, including frying and sautéing. It is often used as a vegetable oil substitute in recipes that require a flavorless cooking medium.
#Culinary Uses of Safflower
Safflower oil is primarily used in cooking for its cooking properties rather than its flavor. It is often chosen for its ability to withstand high temperatures without breaking down, making it a practical choice for deep frying. Additionally, it is used in salad dressings and as a cooking oil in recipes where a neutral taste is desired.
#Health Benefits of Safflower
Safflower oil is considered a healthy oil due to its high content of unsaturated fats, particularly linoleic acid, which is an essential omega-6 fatty acid. Consuming safflower oil in moderation may help reduce the risk of heart disease, lower cholesterol levels, and promote overall cardiovascular health. However, like any oil, excessive consumption can lead to weight gain and other health issues.
#Conclusion: Saffron and Safflower – Not to Be Confused
In summary, saffron and safflower are distinct ingredients with separate origins, characteristics, and culinary applications. Saffron, with its rich history and intense flavor, is a prized spice used to enhance the taste and appearance of various dishes. On the other hand, safflower, with its mild taste and high smoke point, serves as a versatile cooking oil.
The next time you encounter a recipe that calls for saffron or safflower, you can confidently distinguish between the two and make an informed choice based on your culinary goals. While saffron adds a unique taste and color to your dishes, safflower oil excels in providing a neutral cooking medium. So, remember, when it comes to saffron vs. safflower, it’s not just a matter of semantics but a culinary choice that can significantly impact the flavor and character of your creations. #CulinaryDelights #SaffronVersusSafflower

From ancient ayurvedic practices to modern nutrition science, they have proven their worth as a powerhouse of energy and wellness. Let’s dive deep into the fascinating world of Bharat dry fruits, their benefits, and why they deserve a spot in your daily diet.
A Peek Into History: The Role of Dry Fruits in Bharat’s Culture
India has always been a hub of trade and agriculture, with dry fruits playing a significant role in its history. From the Silk Road to the bustling markets of ancient Bharat, dry fruits were considered a prized commodity. They were gifted to royalty, used in religious offerings, and incorporated into festive recipes. Almonds, pistachios, cashews, raisins, and figs—each type of dry fruit carried its own unique story and cultural significance.
Even today, no Indian festival or celebration is complete without a box of assorted dry fruits. They symbolize prosperity, good health, and happiness, making them an integral part of the nation’s culinary heritage.
Nutritional Goldmine: Why Dry Fruits Are a Must-Have
Dry fruits are not just delicious; they are a treasure trove of essential nutrients. Packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and healthy fats, they provide a host of health benefits, including:
Boosting Immunity: Almonds and walnuts are rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants, which help combat free radicals and strengthen your immune system.
Enhancing Brain Health: Walnuts, often referred to as "brain food," are packed with omega-3 fatty acids that promote cognitive function and memory.
Improving Digestion: Raisins and figs are high in dietary fiber, aiding digestion and preventing constipation.
Heart Health: Pistachios and cashews contain heart-friendly fats that help reduce bad cholesterol levels and improve cardiovascular health.
Energy Booster: Dates and apricots are natural energy boosters, providing an instant supply of glucose and essential nutrients.
Incorporating Dry Fruits Into Your Diet
Adding Bharat dry fruits to your daily routine is both easy and enjoyable. Here are some simple yet creative ways to savor their goodness:
Morning Boost: Start your day with a handful of soaked almonds or walnuts for a nutrient-packed breakfast.
Healthy Snacking: Replace unhealthy chips and cookies with roasted pistachios or salted cashews for a guilt-free snack.
Smoothies and Desserts: Blend dry fruits into smoothies, sprinkle them on desserts, or use them as toppings for yogurt.
Festive Recipes: Incorporate dry fruits into traditional recipes like biryani, kheer, or ladoos to enhance flavor and nutrition.
Trail Mix: Prepare a homemade trail mix by combining your favorite dry fruits with seeds and a pinch of dark chocolate for an on-the-go snack.
Choosing Quality Dry Fruits: Tips and Tricks
Not all dry fruits are created equal. To ensure you’re getting the best, keep these tips in mind:
Check for Freshness: Fresh dry fruits should have a natural aroma and vibrant color. Avoid those that appear stale or overly dried.
Opt for Organic: Organic dry fruits are free from harmful chemicals and preservatives, making them a healthier choice.
Buy from Reputable Sources: Trustworthy brands or local markets known for their quality will ensure you get the best Bharat dry fruits.
Store Properly: Keep your dry fruits in airtight containers in a cool, dry place to maintain their freshness and crunchiness.
Dry Fruits and Weight Management
One of the common myths surrounding dry fruits is that they lead to weight gain. While it’s true that they are calorie-dense, consuming them in moderation can support weight management. The high fiber content keeps you full for longer, reducing unhealthy cravings. So, instead of reaching for a sugary snack, grab a handful of almonds or a few dates for a quick, healthy fix.
The Environmental Impact of Choosing Local
When you opt for Bharat dry fruits, you’re not just investing in your health but also supporting local farmers and sustainable agriculture. Many Indian regions, like Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, are known for their high-quality dry fruit production. By choosing locally sourced dry fruits, you reduce your carbon footprint and promote the nation’s agricultural economy.
Fun Facts About Dry Fruits
Cashews are technically seeds, not nuts.
Almond trees were first cultivated in regions around the Indus River.
Raisins were discovered accidentally when grapes were left to dry under the sun.
Walnuts are one of the oldest tree foods known to humanity, dating back to 7000 B.C.

National Rice Pudding Day timeline
6000 B.C. Indian Rice Pudding for Healthy Living
Ancient India includes rice pudding in the Ayurvedic diet in order to ensure healthy living.
14th Century Forme of Cury in England
Rice pudding, known as Forme of Cury or rice pottage, is made with rice, almond milk, and saffron in English Royal kitchens.
17th Century Sweetened Rice Pudding Recipes
Some of the modern-age rice pudding recipes come from the Tudor time period, and are called ‘whitepot.’
18th – 19th Century Rice Becomes Cheaper
Rice grains become cheaper, allowing access to the public who can now enjoy rice pudding treats, unlike their predecessors.
How To Celebrate National Rice Pudding Day
Make rice pudding
Have a rice pudding contest
Try a new rice pudding recipe
Take  a trip down memory lane and make your favorite rice pudding recipe.  Because of its versatility, you can choose to have it hot or cold, and  for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Rice pudding is one of the  highest-rated comfort foods out there because of its gooey, yet grainy  texture that leaves one filled with love and warmth.
Participating  in a rice pudding competition is one of the best ways to celebrate the  day. There are two ways you can go about doing this. You can either hold  a rice pudding cooking competition or you can have an eating  competition. Whether you choose one, two, or have both, it’s going to be  a fun-filled day.
Going  back to what is tried and tested can be comforting, but seeking out the  new can reward you with invaluable experiences. Give new rice pudding  recipes a try. It could be a sweet or a savory recipe, the choice is  yours.
