ooo how about jewelry taste. dangly earrings vs studs, do they wear bracelets, rings, flashy vs elegant, etc

mirabelle has so many cute trinkets! we know she loves accessories that go ding ding, and she'll layer a ton of necklaces so they knock against each other. sometimes they all match nicely, sometimes it's eclectic chic! she adores metal charms and carved beads, especially charmingly unusual shapes like an itty bitty fork, ducky, book, etc. as well as classics like lockets and bells! she tends to fidget with rings and lose track of them, so she avoids those. post-canon she decides to stop wearing earrings, so she turns her novelty earrings into bracelet/necklace charms! and gives her more basic studs to isabeau so he'll actually own some basics.

isabeau is all about shapes and contrast, so he likes chunky beads in materials like turquoise or jasper that have different shades marbled together, metal geometric shapes, wire-wrapped stone, and unique arrangements of elements. he likes funny noises too, but will go for one complicated necklace instead of multiple single strands. he definitely tends towards statement necklaces and earrings — he used to run into trouble because he only had statement pieces, so they would clash terribly, but then he started buying more matching sets. he loves bonding earrings as a romantic, but is a little torn because there's no way any two earrings could match all of his fits...

odile is the kind of person to pick a nice look and stick to it, so there's not much variety in her accessories. she has her glasses gems, a pair of pearl studs, a pair of silver studs, and a couple sentimental rings that she keeps somewhere safe instead of wearing. we know bonding earrings are popular in ka bue but not as universal as in vaugarde; i think it would be cute if ka bue had a whole language of earrings and rings, with different gem types/cuts/colors denoting different sorts of relationships and emotions. so she's got, like, a [daughter, you are the most important thing in my life] ring from her dad, and a [lover, we change each other] ring from an ex.

siffrin is all about sentimental pieces!! it doesn't really occur to him to buy himself jewelry, but isa or mira will see him looking at something in the market and buy it for him and suddenly the aesthetic appeal that sif had mildly enjoyed doesn't matter at all compared to They Gave This To Me. siffrin tends to be drawn towards solid shades or starry dots, and smooth, swirling shapes. isa also gets them stimmy pieces like a bumpy bangle or spinny ring, and mira gets them cute things that remind her of them like star pins or kitty charms. he's just so fun to give trinkets to, even bonnie and odile have gotten him some, so he's working up quite a collection! he carefully rotates through everything, and keeps some pieces in his pockets when he can't fit everything he wants onto his body or doesn't want to wear any jewelry that day.

bonnie's bracelet is smooth wood, and they're going to be very upset the day it no longer fits over their hand. they prefer non-rock materials like wood, shells, bones, and sea glass, because that's just way more fun! they made shell necklaces with nille all the time, so many that it doesn't matter how often they lose them.

loop goes full magpie! since they don't have to buy necessities like food, they're less careful about spending money than siffrin, plus they're more desperate to capture any scrap of joy. they also have a bit of "everyone else is an npc" brain and "i am both above and beneath normal rules", so they're more comfortable with stealing than siffrin is. they like drapey chains, black and white beads, and unusual pieces. they like the pressure stim of very heavy necklaces and the clack of many bracelets. once when one of their favorites broke they procured the tools to fix it, and started modifying the stuff they own and stringing trinkets onto chains!

Style Guide : Xiao Zhan

Zhan Zhan’s style evolution from the cute and warm boy next door to a Top Entertainer. from his trending airport fashion, designer bags and transition to streetwear— here is his story.

I originally wanted to include stuff from his university days but settled on when he started on c-ent. It’s not secret that he was popular in his University and is a fan of designer brands from the start. I will also use airport photos before the ban. for the clothes after, I will just post the picture of what he wore.

I. XFIRE & Idol career

He initially started as a contestant in survival show called x-fire where people saw him as this warm guy who had a really good voice. Once he debuted as part of XNINE, more and more people started noticing him. His unique style that leans more on Japanese chic is what makes him a favorite of fans to photograph in the Airport.

You will see videos of him talking to fans who are there and visiting. You would not think he is as tall he is when you look at his photos. With X-NINE, he blended well with the concepts they have and it’s not as drastic as how KPOP acts do it. He still preserved the quiet and gentle image.

II. Life as an Actor

Xiao Zhan was still promoting with XNINE when he started being active in Dramas. Including the Wolf, that made him decide he wants to be an Actor.

Around this time, he also started shooting the Untamed. His style pretty much remained the same. With his soft and oversized cardigans. However, we get glimpses of him starting to use streetwear. And definitely darker colors.

III. Rising Star

In 2019 and with the Untamed making him a household name— his style has transitioned into a less complicated one. He still had the quirky tops from time to time but his general style has moved into street. I don’t think he ever had an interview where he addressed this and why he changed. One thing is, this makes him less recognizable by people.

In events, he always stuns with high end brands that he partners with. You can also notice that his style has a more matured edge to it. A top actor who is confident who he is and it just make the clothes match him so much better.

IV. Spotlight

After the ban of airport photos and anything outside of his live events— he still continues to carry himself with the same style. oftentimes with a cap and his mask on, completely covering his face. He also preferred baggy pants and nike shoes.

In his rehearsal pictures, the same style is also seen.

HIS STYLE QUIRKS.

1. Oversized cardigans - This is his signature style especially in the early days. It’s impossible to not search for him and not see these moments. In his interviews, he is always asked about this type of style and how achieves it. He countered saying that just use clothes that are comfortable to you. Yeah, those big cardigans really look soft and comfy.

One other thing is that he became really know for a few that he wore at that time. They either get sold out or someone makes knock offs.

2. Eyeglasses - This is more of a necessity than a fashion statement for him but he looks good on them anyway. it adds something special & it just adds to his charm.

3. Stuffed toys - Aaaahhhh! The ones he carries with him at airports. Who can forget? He even accepts ones given by fans and carries it with him. He stopped doing this in 2019 onwards but it’s still nice to reminisce.

4. Bags - Men usually don’t pay that much attention to bags. Just one or two that they use regularly, but it’s different for Xiao Zhan. In one interview, he said that it’s a good accessory. from backpacks, slings and really small ones— he uses it. The Tod’s bag from his shanghai vlog? Sold out so quick.

5. Red bracelet - This one is actually not a fashion statement. GG started wearing this bracelet that his mom made for him in 2015. Since it was his year, he was told to wear it and so he followed. We know how superstitious he is and so it’s not a surprise to see him wear something that is supposed to keep bad things away. This gained more attention to fans when he was seen wearing it in his appearance after the 2*7 fiasco. KXZ, a brand he endorses even popularized it by allowing fans to put red bracelets on his standees in stores. To this day, you can still see him wearing it in his personal time.

TOP BRANDS HE LOVES THE MOST.

1. Gucci - The real leader of the Gucci Gang. If he wears something, the first thing that comes to mind is Gucci. No matter how generic it is, like some baggy jeans or simple shirt— it’s gotta be Gucci. both as a personal preference and what he wears in events. Gucci even invited him for their 2019 fashion week.

2. Balenciaga - I am adding it here because of his iconic balenciaga cap. He wears it frequently and has been associated with it.

3. Nike - I mean, who doesn’t love Nike. Especially Air Jordans. He’s been seen wearing the same pairs multiple times. In 2019, he was even seen wearing a pair of that much coveted paranoise shoes.

4. Off white - Is a streetwear brand is based in Milan. The name of the brand is defined as the grey colour zone in between black and white. They collaborated with a lot of other brands & cater more to the millennial generation. Xiao Zhan has been seen wearing this brand frequently.

5. Stussy - is a brand that started from the surf scene in California. They have a store opened in Shanghai and has a special collection dedicated to it. Xiao Zhan has been seen wearing it since 2016 at the earliest during his off time.

That’s it for Xiao Zhan. I would like to add that it’s really exciting to see what he will wear next, especially in events. In his track record, he prefers Gucci, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Balmain.<3

Triple Threat And The Fantabulous Redemption of One Carrie Wilson - Ch 3

Carrie went through the rest of her day with a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes, excitedly texting her dad that she was going to Julie’s after school and would be home by dinner. “Remember, Kayla! Dirty Candy’s got a rehearsal tomorrow! Don’t be late!” She called to her friend across the hall before quickly catching up with Flynn and Julie, wrapping her arms around their shoulders with a grin. “Are we ready, ladies?“

“Oh! Hey, girl. Yeah, we’re ready.“ Flynn smiled and wrapped her arm around Carrie’s waist.

“Sweet. We have so much to talk about and catch up on!“ She said as she started the walk to Julie’s with them. “Like how you came across the cool hologram boy band.“ She said and gave Julie a small smile, curious to hear how on Earth that happened.

“What? Nah, you don’t want the boring details of that.“ Julie deflected quickly. “And they’re not a boy band. They’re rock stars and they all get very offended if you call them a boy band.“

“Ooh, so-rry.“ Carrie laughed as she stepped in time with Julie and Flynn, turning her head toward her. “What about you, Flynn? Hey, you still a little Brat or have you seen the hot pink light?“ She asked, remembering one of the big arguments they used to have when they were younger.

“Once a Brat, always a Brat, Barbie Girl.“ Flynn grinned and flipped her hair. “Clearly you’re still the same pink princess you always were.“

“Always.“ Carrie confirmed with a nod. “Latest movies have been so bizarre, though. You know they used the plot of Princess And The Pauper and made the pauper a pop star for one? They remixed To Be a Princess.“ She huffed and gave an irritated eye roll.

“Wait, what?“ Julie almost shrieked and gave Carrie a shocked look, remembering that Princess  Anneliese   was her favorite Barbie character and doll and Princess And The Pauper was her favorite movie when they were little.

“Yeah, and not even well! It was so bad! And the next day, I really thought it was some crazy messed up fever dream, but no! Dad was there when I watched it and he was confused, too! They really have gotten so lazy, they’re just re-using old plots that were perfect and ruining them with weird, random changes! Like, if you’re going to remake a Barbie movie and remix and rewrite one of the best songs from it, you could at least do it correctly!“ Carrie ranted and sighed dramatically, making both girls laugh a little at her antics.

“Yikes. Barbie Girl betrayed by her childhood idol. Hurts, doesn’t it?” Flynn asked and gave her a look, referring to the time when Flynn’s favorite dolls were no longer on shelves and making Carrie wince slightly.

“But I heard Bratz came back, didn’t it?” Carrie asked her, getting a nod. “Any news about your favorite doll, Chic?“ She asked Julie, easily falling back into the habit of calling the girls by their nicknames.

Julie pouted and shook her head, slumping her shoulders. “Absolutely nothing. It’s like they just want everyone to forget they ever made them.“

“That’s evil.” Carrie rolled her eyes again, shaking her head in dismay.

“It’s awful, Carrie!” Julie huffed.

“And it’s not like I can do anything about it, either! I’m just me!” Carrie pouted sympathetically and gave her shoulder a squeeze.

“Maybe my dad can. I can ask him to make some calls. Yell at some idiots who clearly don’t understand the mistake they’re making here.“ She offered. “I mean, you don’t just upset Carrie Wilson’s friend and get away unscathed. You get away with a hole in your wallet.“ She smirked.

Julie grinned at Carrie, squeezing her back tightly. “You’re the best, Barbie girl!“ She said happily, making Flynn smile at them. “I missed having a friend as powerful as you.“ She said and Carrie shrugged, strutting in front of them.

“Well, you know. With great power comes great responsibility and all that. I’m just using my power to make my friends happy, because that’s one of my many responsibilities.“ She said simply and the girls just laughed and let Carrie lead.

Carrie smiled and kept walking in a comfortable silence with them, making a mental list of every question she had and everything she wanted to tell them. She really did have so many questions and so many exciting things to tell them about. She perked up as they arrived at Julie’s and walked inside, greeting her dad with a grin.

“Hey, dad. We’re home.” Julie said, waving at her dad looking at pictures on his laptop.

“Hey, Mr. Molina! Long time, no see!“ She said as Julie went to raid the fridge and cabinets to get some snacks and drinks.

“Carrie! Haven’t seen your face around in a while!“ Ray grinned giving Flynn a side hug. “Hi, Flynn. You girls have a good day at school?” He asked and they all nodded, Julie glancing with a smile at seemingly nothing for a second before handing Flynn a bag of cool ranch doritos and a can of 7-Up.

“Oh, you know. School was school. The usual. Hey, Barbie Girl. Cherry cola still your favorite?“ She asked and Carrie nodded, taking the can handed to her.

“Thanks.“

“Good thing Carlos loves cherry cola too. Dad, please don’t tell him I stole one for Carrie. We’ll be in my room.“ Julie said and led the girls to her bedroom, sitting in bed with their snacks.

Carrie looked around at Julie’s bedroom with a smile and sat next to her, taking a sip of her cherry cola. “Your room is cute, Chic. A little different than I remember, but cute.“ She noted, perking up when she saw a familiar box on a shelf. “Hey, is that your dream box?“

Julie looked up and nodded, biting into a dorito she stole from Flynn’s bag.

“Do you still keep the Chanel charm I gave you in there?“ She asked, biting into an oreo cookie.

“Yeah. I’ve thought about putting it on a bracelet, but I don’t wanna lose that. It’s-“ Julie smiled, stealing another dorito from Flynn and getting a “Hey! Not your doritos!“ from her. ”It’s one of my favorite memories of us.“

Carrie looked at Julie and gave her a sweet smile, wrapping an arm around her neck. “It’s one of my favorite memories, too. It was a really good day.“ She said softly, remembering how excited Julie was to have ”a real Chanel charm, mom!“ in her possession now.

She hummed and grabbed another cookie as Julie looked up and excused herself to go do something, unhooking her arm from Julie’s neck. “So Brat.” Flynn looked up, watching Carrie curiously.

“What’s the story on the hologram boys?“ She asked, deciding not to beat around the bush.

“OH. Um. They are- WERE a band from Sweeden. And Julie met them on twitter. And they started skyping and then did the hologram thing and here we are! Now they’re Julie’s band.“ Flynn said and took a swig of her drink, seemingly ignoring Carrie’s squinting eyes.

“Uh huh... Sweeden. That’s what Julie told you?” She asked and Flynn nodded.

“Yup! That’s what she said.“

“And Julie leaving suddenly, that wouldn’t have anything to do with the boys, would it?“ She asked suspiciously, crossing her arms. It totally wasn’t that she didn’t believe her best friends. They were just both acting too weird. Like that time when they showed up at her house unannounced, asked for water and Flynn was telling her and Nick about a racoon or whatever was in her backyard.

Flynn shook her head and looked up when Julie came back in, offering her an oreo.

“Everything good?” She asked and Julie nodded, taking the cookie.

“Yeah, we’re good. Hey. You guys wanna paint each other’s nails like we used to?“ She asked and Carrie nodded her head,  deciding to drop it for now.

“Sure. I’m do for a manicure, anyway.“ She said, deciding she could try again another day.

“Pink glitter for you, I assume?“ Julie asked and Carrie nodded with a smile, watching Julie grab a bottle of polish remover and cotton balls, hot pink glitter polish, a shiny purple polish, and a dark red polish that matched Flynn’s skirt perfectly.

“Hey, I have this exact glitter nail polish in my collection!“ She noticed with a smile and got to work on removing her week old, slightly chipped baby pink nail polish.

Julie chuckled as she started to paint Flynn’s nails expertly, gently holding her fingers still. “Maybe we’re not so different after all, then.“ Carrie nodded at Julie’s comment, laughing softly.

“No, the pink princess and the purple rock star really aren’t that different. The red rap goddess isn’t different from me, either. But she is awesome.” She said, making Flynn smile at the compliment.

“Thanks, Barbie Girl.“

“Just being honest, Brat-“ “She’s just speaking truth, Brat-“ Carrie laughed when she and Julie spoke at the same time, making Julie and Flynn laugh, too.

“I missed this so much. I missed my girls so much.“ She said, leaning her head on Julie’s shoulder.

“I missed you, too, Carrie. We both missed you so much.“ Flynn nodded at Julie’s words, looking up.

“You know... You and Dirty Candy sounded really good at Eats&Beats.“ She said with a smile. “It was so cool, it made me forget why I ha- Thought I hated you.“ She corrected herself quickly. “It was really good choreo and dancing. And I guess those outfits were pretty cute, too.“ She said, making Carrie chuckle.

“Oh, really? Not “too Barbie-like” for your tastes, Brat?“ She joked with a smirk. “You know, I actually came up with that look. I dreamed it up, drew it out and I had the outfits custom made.“ She told them proudly, making them grin at her in surprise.

“Ooh, the pop princess is a fashion designer on the side now, is she?“ Julie teased with a smile as she finished Flynn’s left hand and started the other.

“Oh, you know me, girls. Always looking for something else to be good at. Always looking for something else to be praised for.“ Carrie joked and rolled her eyes at herself, shaking her head.

“You were always the best dancer out of the three of us.“ Carrie smiled at that, looking down.

“Really? I always thought you deserved the title “best dancer“ out of us three, Flynn.“ She admitted softly.

“Me? No. I’m the rapper and the DJ out of us. Julie’s the singer and the pianist and you’re the dancer and apparently, the fashion designer.“ Flynn told her and Julie nodded in agreement, capping the bottle when she finished.

“Yeah, what Brat said. You’re totally the most graceful dancer in the room right now.“ Julie told her, speaking as if she really did believe it, surprising Carrie.

“Oh. Thank you, girls.“ She said softly, feeling her smile grow.

“Yeah, you’re amazing! The way you spin around? I can’t do that without falling over or getting dizzy.“ Julie grinned and laughed at herself.

“And that footwork, girl!“ Flynn said, blowing on her nails to dry them faster as Carrie opened the purple nail polish bottle.

“I work really hard to be that good.“ She said, sitting straighter.

“And all that hard work pays off.“ Julie confirmed for her. “And your voice is good, too! Not just your dancing.“ She said and Carrie smiled.

“Well, you know. Singing runs in the family.“ She bragged and flipped her hair, giggling with them. “Come here, Chic. Time for your nails.“ She said and Julie shifted to get closer, taking one last cookie in her mouth before she let Carrie start painting.

“You were really good at school, too. That song was stuck in my head for, like, an hour after.“ Julie laughed.

“That’s the goal. Get Dirty Candy stuck in everyone’s heads so they come back to our music videos on youtube. Hope one of them is a music rep and we get a deal. Become mega famous like dad.“ Carrie told the girls as she painted Julie’s nails.

“Or, become mega famous like Dirty Candy deserves because you guys are really good and deserve the recognition no matter who your dad is.“ Flynn pointed out and gave Carrie a look.

Oh. Carrie didn’t think about it like that before. She always just figured she would be in her dad’s shadow no matter the recognition she and her girls got. She knew they were good, but she knew her dad would always be bigger. She told Julie and Flynn as much, blinking when they both once again insisted that Dirty Candy was just as good and deserved just as much recognition as Trevor Wilson.

“Thanks, girls.“ She said after a minute and smiled, quickly finishing up Julie’s right hand and grabbing her left.

“Hey, we’re just telling the truth. You and your girls have real talent.“ Julie smiled and squeezed her hand.

“As do the two of you. And your band.“ Carrie said as she resumed painting Julie’s nails before remembering something. “Oh, hey. My friend Kayla wants to know if your bassist is single.“ She told her.

“Oh, Reggie? Yeah, he’s very single.“ Julie confirmed with a quick nod and a grin. “Kayla is Purple Candy, yeah?“ She asked and Carrie nodded.

“She’s got a huge crush on him.“ She giggled. “It’s kinda funny. He’s usually not her type, but he just does something to her.“

“And she does something to him.“ Julie smirked.

“She does?“ Flynn and Carrie asked at the same time, making Julie laugh.

“Ooh, if you two only heard the way that boy talks about ‘that pretty girl that smiled at me at Julie’s school’. It makes me and Luke laugh so hard. And- OH. And Alex, my drummer, he’s a Dirty Candy fan!“

Carrie grinned at hearing more about Julie’s band friends, laughing softly. “Oh, is he? Tell me more about your boys, Chic.“

“Alex really likes dancing. And he loves your music. Almost as much as he loves drumming. And Reggie, he may look like a super cool rock star, but he’s a total dork off stage.“ Julie giggled. “And Luke-” She blushed, growing shy. “Luke is so sweet. He gives really nice pep talks and he’s really supportive and encouraging when I’m nervous or when Alex gets really anxious.“

Carrie smirked and Flynn snickered at the dreamy, far away look in Julie’s eyes, finishing up her nails.

“-And he’s really funny and smart and cute and his lyrics are so good and-“ Julie blushed red and shut her mouth when she realized how much she was gushing about Luke and that Flynn and Carrie were laughing at her. “And- Well, you heard what Flynn said I sound like at school. He’s that. And so much more.“

Carrie snorted and nodded, capping the purple nail polish bottle. “Yes, and she was not exaggerating at all.“ She laughed, making Flynn cackle. “Your little crush on him is so cute, Julie.“

“So cute!“ Flynn nodded, still cackling into her hands.

“He’s obviously special to you. And I hope I’m right that your Luke feels the same about you. I hope you two find a way to be together and he treats you right. If he doesn’t, I’m here to cry to. After I pummel him like roadkill.“ Carrie said, making Julie and Flynn laugh again.

“Thanks, Carrie. I really appreciate that.“ Julie smiled gratefully and blew on her nails, shuffling to let Flynn in her spot to paint Carrie’s nails.

“Hey, that’s what friends are for.“ Carrie shrugged as Flynn opened the bottle with a smile, starting to paint Carrie’s nails.

“I’d hate to be the boy that hurts you, Barbie Girl.” Julie joked with a smirk.

“Ehh, I wouldn’t and don’t pity the next dumb boy that hurts her. He deserves whatever fury she unleashes on him, and what fury I unleash on him, if he loses his mind and hurts her.“ Flynn shrugged.

Carrie laughed at that and shook her head, covering her mouth with the hand Flynn wasn’t painting. “No. No. I’m so over boys right now. I’m not looking for a new boytoy at the moment. I’m just gonna live my life.“ She told them.

“You’re not gonna try to get back together with Nick again?“ Julie asked.

“Oh! I didn’t tell you yet! No, we’re never getting back together. But we talked it all out and we are friends. Just friends.“ Carrie smiled. “Well, on the condition that I don’t force him to watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette with me anymore.“ She laughed. “Oh, he always got so bored so fast with those shows.“

Julie snickered into her hand, leaning her head on Flynn’s shoulder. “Oh, dear. Whatever will Barbie Girl do with Danforth-Evans now that she can’t watch trashy reality shows with him?“

Carrie almost snorted at that, but stayed still so Julie could finish her nails, chest heaving with laughter. “I’m sure our darling boy can find other things that both of us will enjoy doing together.“

“Our darling boy. That’s nice.“ Julie smiled and Flynn nodded with a grin.

Flynn finished painting Carrie nails and blew them dry, rolling her eyes fondly when she promptly pulled out her phone and took pictures of her nails for instagram. She smiled, though, seeing the caption on the post:

“Nails courtesy of my girl, rap goddess, bomb DJ, graceful dancer and favorite little Brat, Flynn ����“

Flynn and Julie both liked the post and commented red and purple heart emojis on it, posting their own nails to their instagrams.

Carrie grinned as she liked and commented pink heart emojis on both posts, almost immediately getting a few texts from confused classmates who thought they all hated each other still. She kindly replied to the texts and put her phone away, just talking to the girls about everything and nothing for a few hours.

She left after a while to go home, telling everyone she promised her dad she’d be home for dinner. She hugged the girls good bye and walked out, heading home. She grinned as she thought about everything they’d talked about, looking down at her expertly done nails.

Step five... Semi accomplished? She thought and shrugged after a second, getting home quickly and walking inside. She was at least friends with Nick and hanging out with Flynn and Julie again. That had to count a little bit toward being a better person, right? Carrie thought so. She shut the door behind herself and walked toward the dining room, perking up when she found her dad. “Hi, daddy!“ She grinned happily and hugged him.

“Hi, baby! You have a good time at Julie’s today? How was school?“ He asked, happy to see his daughter so happy.

“Yeah. We talked a lot and we painted each other’s nails- She has the same polish that I do! And we posted it all on instagram because of course we had to.” She giggled again. “And school was school. Made up with Julie and Flynn. Made up with Nick. But we’re just friends now.“

She smiled as she sat down to eat with him, telling him all about her day. She felt her smile grow as he relaxed more, clearly not thinking right now about whatever it was that had been bothering him. Good sign. Good sign. She went up to her bedroom a while after, deciding to go to sleep soon if she wanted a good start tomorrow. She had a lot to do and a lot to say. When Lily and her friends wanted to buy horses and were directed to the Silverglade Manor and its myriad of problems, they didn’t expect to start a revolution. They were just a bunch a stable girls. Completely harmless. Right?

Chapter Thirty-Three Rainbow CRASH!!

The first day of Rainbow Week couldn’t have dawned any better. Clear skies, warm breezes, everything looked like it was going to go off without a hitch. The girls scrambled through the daily chores and then dressed in outfits for a day of having fun.

They stood in a circle and put their hands on top of each other.

“Right, girls, time for fun,” Regina said.

“Get ready to party!” Brittany shouted.

“Go Silver Drakes!” They shouted and raised their hands together. “Whee!”

“To Moorland!” Tyra pointed.

“To Moorland!” They all agreed as they mounted their horses and rode out.

The main part of Moorland’s festivities were taking place at the festival area. So, that’s where they went. First stop, they went to the tent to choose what friendship bracelet they wanted for their charm bracelets. There were two different rainbow styles to choose from and one that was hearts.

They would have to talk to Jenna at the stable to get their charm though.

They took photos at the selfie wall, browsed the Jojo and Rainbow Week shop. It had clothes and mysterious powders for their horses and interesting tack. They made bows and put them on at the crafting stall.

There was a large table where they could make and write Rainbow themed Friendship Cards for everyone. That took the longest, and was perhaps the most fun. They made them for everyone in their Clubs and the other Clubs. They even made them for the Bobcats, because no one wanted to be mean. It was Rainbow Week. Embrace the power of friendship! There were huge sacks of letters they stuck theirs in to go to the post office later.

And then when Jojo got on for her first set, they went and did a line dance in the front row.

Jojo jumped up and down she was so happy to see them and insisted for the second song that they dance with her. Which was tons of fun.

They promised her to come back later to listen to a full set.

They had just enough time to get their bow charm from Jenna before joining the parade to go to Fort Pinta!

Loretta insisted Lily ride with her. “Tan’s outfits were a disaster,” she said.

“Which is why you’re wearing the black on black,” Lily observed. The vest and capri pants had rainbow piping, and there was a rainbow bow at their necks.

“It was so tacky. I told her that next year, I’ll have someone else do the Festival grounds if she can’t focus on decorating and coming up with a reasonable design.” Loretta rolled her eyes.

‘I’m sure she tried her best. Rainbow is challenging.”

“Well, this was like a rainbow puked over everything. So not tres chic. We have fashion police on Jorvik and I don’t want to be arrested!”

“I don’t think that’s what the fashion police do.”

Loretta gave her a long look. “Nobody is supposed to know what the Fashion Police do. They’re, they’re this secret agency that we know exists. Think of all the Fashion crime they’re stopping by merely existing. Do you want to wear 100% polyester? The Fashion Police put a stop to that,” Loretta shuddered.

“For being secret, you know a lot about them.”

“Look, Tan might want to be a fashion designer, but I think I’m a top pick for the Fashion Police if I can’t make it in Eventing. I have studied everything. Fashion history. Fashion laws. I know it.”

“I’m sure you’ll do fine at it,” Lily said trying to hide her dubiousness. Okay then. “Whatever you end up doing, that is.”

“I’ll win the eventing circuit in Jorvik if Anne Von Blissen doesn’t come back. Just watch me,” Loretta tossed her head. “I’m a shoo in. And, between you and I, I’m prettier than Anne. And everyone thought she was going to be a model before she went after the dressage circuit. Then, she’s gone. You know what I think.”

“No. I’m not psychic.”

“I think she was losing and couldn’t hack it. So she elected to disappear rather than face the shame of it all.”

“That’s a wild theory. I don’t know Anne at all.”

“She’s stuck up.”

Lily bit her tongue. That was rather hypocritical of Loretta to say.

Behind her, Pauline snorted.

“Like, Herman told her she had these fancy magic powers, that don’t exist, and I mean, she already thought she was better than the rest of us and that made it worse.” Loretta rolled her eyes. “She started hanging out with complete losers like Alex and Lisa and that nerd, Linda.”

“Isn’t Lisa a music star like Jojo?”

“She wasn’t then,” Loretta huffed. “Come on, it’s like you don’t get how this works.”

“No, Loretta. I don’t get how you do friendship,” Lily’s voice turned tart. “If I waited to be friends with someone before they were somebody, then I’d have no friends. You’re friends with Tan.”

“Tan gets it.”

The parade ended at the gates of Fort Pinta. Fortunately, because Lily was about to lose her temper. She rode straight into Fort Pinta without even saying good bye. She just, she couldn’t or else she was going to say something she’d regret later.

Pia ran over. “You came!”

Lily smiled as she looked around. There were pinatas in the trees and people of all ages lining up to look at them and take a swing to crack them open.

“Of course we came!” Pauline said. “Forgive Lily, she’s in Loretta daze.”

“Ugh. I understand. Mayor Peanut has the charms,” Pia explained. “So, you can head over and get them there.”

“The art show is,” Lily paused. “Colorful.”

Arrayed around the fountain were stands and little tents and umbrellas, all were rainbow themed, and under the rainbow themed tents and umbrellas were more, well, rainbow themed things.

Pia led them and their horses around the edge of it. DJ Kai was blasting “I Hate Plastic” in the disco. The floor lights turned random colors, the disco ball turned radiating small square lights onto the walls and the door of Disco Daze Clothes Shop.

Pia put a hand to her forehead. “I didn’t even ask for it and they, they showed up with tie dye. All of them! I mean, there’s pillows, and blankets, and wall art, and I don’t know what that is,” she gestured at something. “And t-shirts, I mean, get yourself a rainbow tie dye t-shirt.”

“We will,” one of the girls said.

Mayor Peanut had a rainbow sequin band on his new shiny black top hat. And someone, cheekily, had put a large rainbow tie around his neck.

The girls put up their horses in the stable first before coming back to see him.

James had rigged up a motion sensor and a bunch of recorded phrases it seemed as Mayor Peanut was talking almost non-stop. They got their charms, the pony head. And took selfies with him. He had a snack station too. And the tourists were using it egregiously. The girls though gave him extra scratches that he enjoyed just as much.

“It’s a good thing that James has to take him out with Fussywithers,” Tyra murmured. “Or he’d be getting fat.”

Eyes widened.

They found the backdrop near the statue and took more selfies with it.

Lily leaned against the sign as she waited her turn that explained who the statue was, one Governor Gareth. It popped open.

Lily jumped. “What in the world?” She went to close it and stopped. Inside was a round seal. She swiped it out and shut the sign up. It had a sun on it, like, the sun on Elizabeth’s dress design. It felt warm in her hand and her skin tingled. Lily glanced around. No one had noticed. She slipped the seal into her pocket. She’d show it to Linda later.

She didn’t think much of the hiding spot though.

They browsed the art show and there were purple t-shirts with rainbows on them. Of course, they bought them. The purple was a light purple and dark purple tie dye, then with the rainbow tie dyed in as well. They were perfect.

They decided they’d have to wear them the next day.

Of course, they had to dance to DJ Kai’s music and eat some cookies at the café. They stopped to look at all the cute piggies at the Pet Shop. The owner warned them that they wouldn’t be that small for long. Pigs, even dwarf pigs, could grow as tall as a person’s waist. Though normal pigs were taller than an average human.

The short take away was that pigs were big and were a commitment.

“Oh, we’re browsing,” Lily said. “Do you know anything about pet ducks?”

“No,” the owner said slowly.

“We have lots of ducks around our stable,” Linn said.

“Some of them want to adopt us,” Pauline giggled.

Once the pigs had gotten enough pets, and there was some stomach rumbling, they decided to head to the next place.

“All the sugar cookies are making me hungry!” Stacy said.

“Sugar does that,” Elsa said flatly.

They all rolled their eyes and headed to the Farmer’s Market where all the different restaurants had stands. They chose what they wanted and reconvened outside to eat in the sunshine.

They were halfway through the meal when something strange happened.

Across the Golden Fields, a rainbow appeared. Now, it didn’t appear like it shimmered into being. No. It appeared as if it had been spilled down from the sky (that was mostly clear still) and rammed into the ground.

“Is that?” Regina asked.

“Normal?” Melody finished.

“That’s not scientifically possible,” Elsa said.

It didn’t fade away either. It stayed there, exceptionally bright and vibrant.

As one, they got up and walked over finishing their meals. When they arrived at the base of the rainbow, they received no more answers.

Near the base of the rainbow pranced a being. They were dressed in a green jacket with an equally green top hat, and had two arms and two legs and one head, but that’s where the similarity to humans ended. For one, this being had grey brown fur all over their body. Their feet were cloven like a goats. They had a tail. And set in their rather beaky face were two big black eyes like, well, a spider.

“Krampus,” Brittany murmured.

They all looked at her confused.

She shrugged.

Lily approached cautiously. “Excuse us, good neighbor, is there something wrong?”

“Wrong!” The being’s voice was definitely male. “Yes. Much wrong. Rainbow crash. Rainbow gold go flying all over. Chaun flung to ground.”

“I’m sorry,” Lily said. “That sounds painful and terrifying.”

“Sounds like sabotage.”

“Brogan!” Chaun waved his fist and jumped up and down. “Brogan hate Chaun. Wants Chaun’s rainbow gold. Get gold. Chaun give gift. Gold scattered in dirt.”

The girls looked around, and sure enough, scattered around the area were piles and piles of dirt.

“So, if we go through the dirt and get the gold, you’ll give us something in return,” Lily said just to make sure.

“Fair. Chaun get gold. You get gifts.”

Right then. The little being or Krampus was gruff and short, but Lily didn’t have a reason not to think he wasn’t being honest. He was being pretty clear after all.

“And if we see Brogan?” Brittany asked.

“Capture. Bring to Chaun. Chaun deal with Brogan.”

That seemed reasonable. They didn’t want to get involved in a feud between Krampus leprechaun creatures.

The girls scattered to the different mounds to rummage through them for rainbow gold.

“Not what I thought I’d be doing today.”

Thankfully, it wasn’t difficult to find. They brought it back to Chaun who had a selection of items they could trade the gold for like he had a shop in magic space.

Chaun turned his head like a bird and seemed happy enough with what they’d returned to him. “Chaun go now.” He said and hopped onto the end of the rainbow and it drew upwards back into the sky.

“Okay, that was weird,” Lily said.

“Only on Jorvik,” Tyra said.

“Like, are we just going to accept that happened? We, we talked to a leprechaun,” Abigail waved her hands.

“Krampus,” Brittany corrected.

“Is there a difference?”

“Yes.”

“Does it matter?”

Brittany bit her lip. “For the sake of this discussion, no.”

“Right. And found his gold for him? Like, I’ve heard at gold at the end of the rainbow,” Abigail trailed off again.

“I need to wash my hands,” Lily said.

“We should pack the heavy gloves.”

“You think he’ll come back?”

“Well, he’s not the only one running around and it is Rainbow Week and if this,”

“Don’t say his name!” Brittany interrupted. “Do you want to call him to you?”

“If it makes him easier to find.”

“It’s not like the rainbow damaged anything.”

“Other than our sanity,” Elsa said.

Lily ignored them. She strode off to get her horse and headed to Steve’s farm. A quick use of the water bucket cleaned up her hands. The other girls joined her. Thankfully, they were all in short sleeves. There were some grass bits sticking to knees, but mostly they were fine. It wasn’t like the dirt had been damp.

Kate raised her brows at seeing all of them. “Do I want to know?”

“If you see a rainbow ending in a field, there’s a little guy named Chaun at the end that needs help retrieving his rainbow gold.”

“Are you ill?” Kate asked.

“You’ll see.” Lily warned. They went and got their charms, a rainbow with a cloud that now felt more ironically appropriate, from Steve. “Oh, and there might be another one named Brogan running around. I want to make a teddy bear,” she said brightly before Kate could respond and leaving her horse at the stable, she headed into town to see Daxton.

The other girls fervently agreed.

“Pack thick gloves,” Tyra warned.

Kate stared after them. “Well, that happened,” she murmured.

Making teddy bears with Daxton was soothing and grounded them back into reality. Harold had plenty of cookies for dessert. And Lance and Lillith were rocking it out on the steps of the Village Council house.

They really weren’t that bad.

They’d drawn a crowd too.

But they’d promised Jojo they’d go back and listen to her sing and sewing teddy bears by hand took a lot of time. And if they didn’t go now, they’d be late. So, they grabbed their horses and headed back to the festival area in Moorland.

On the way between Steve’s Farm and castle, one of the girls scouted a bit of red where red wasn’t supposed to be. “There he is!” She shouted.

The red thing stopped scurrying about, stiffening.

It looked almost exactly like Chaun, except it was wearing a red coat and a red felt flat topped conical hat with a long tassle.

“Get him!” Another girl shouted.

Wisely, Brogan took off at a sprint. He was fast, but the girls on their horses were faster and knew the area better.

They cut him off.

“Hello,” Lily smiled. “You must be Brogan. Chaun is unhappy with you.”

“Chaun greedy.” Brogan stomped his cloven hoof foot and then jumped up and down. “Keeps all rainbow gold for himself. Brogan likes gold too. It shiny!”

“Uh huh, it’s not nice to crash his rainbow though.”

“Brogan get rainbow gold,” Brogan said with a smirk showing off his pointy teeth.

“Red cap,” Brittany breathed in horror.

“I thought Chaun was a Krampus.”

“This is a Red Cap type Krampus.”

“Do you mean fae?”

Brittany waved a hand at the other girl when she realized Brogan was staring at her.

Lily cleared her throat.

“Help Brogan!” Brogan wheedled. “Get gifts in exchange for rainbow gold.”

The girls pursed their lips and looked at each other.

Brogan wanted dandelions. Not that he would explain what he wanted dandelions for. They needed to bring him dandelions.

Lily was suspicious. But they went and got him some dandelions.

As soon as he got them, Brogan cackled and disappeared with a pop.

“Oh, that!” Regina waved her arms.

Brittany sighed. “He wasn’t very specific was he.”

“Oh, I will nail his little hooves to the floor.”

“That will kill him,” Brittany sing songed.

“So, they are fae.”

Brittany shrugged. “They didn’t lie. I’d say they might as well be fae.”

“Well, we’ll have to be quicker if we see him again,” Lily said.

They rejoined the now much larger crowd. Jojo’s last set went through sundown and the sky turned dark. They used their cellphone lights like lighters, and waved them in the air. As she finished her last song, a huge display of fireworks went off behind the Silverglade Castle.

Jojo jumped and spun around. Her eyes widened. She squealed and waved her arms about how awesome it was. They overheard her say she couldn’t believe they’d done a rainbow themed fireworks show just for her.

Lily rolled her eyes. They’d given Jojo a schedule. The fireworks had been on the schedule.

No one was willing to burst Jojo’s bubble and tell her it wasn’t.

Oscar Dresses - Winners & Losers

A few thoughts on the 90th Anniversary of the Oscars!

There were several trends in the dresses at Oscars – the blush, pale pastel feminine dresses are still in.  But, so were bright colors.  That being said – so was bright white and pink.  In other words – everything was on trend last night – except black.  After everyone wore black to the Golden Globes, hardly anyone wore it to the Oscars.

All in all, the dresses weren’t that inspiring this year.  I only gasped one or two or three times.  And one gasp was reserved for Timothee Chalamet – the young star of “Call My By Your Name.”  If I was only 18 again –

Who am I kidding? 

Sadly, even when I was at my best at 18 (?) Timothee would have never looked even once at me!

THE WHITES:

Timothee aka Elio in “Call Me By Your Name.”  Tim wore trendy white hot for the evening.     He’s such a cutie and was definitely the Best Dressed Man Under Twenty-Five winner!!  Even if he was worried about a flash flood at the Oscars.

Mary J Blige looked beautiful – she was also nominated for two Oscars!  Remember when she was rapper – now she is this gorgeous, sophisticated glamorous woman.  Loved her hair, too.  Her makeup – her lips and eyes are perfect for the dress.

Camila Alves was dressed more as a bride than the wife of an actor - Matthew McConaughey.  White with netting means only one thing – getting married.  This was not a great look for Camila, I hate to say.  Thank GOD she doesn’t read this blog.  Wait, Matthew just called me and he’s FURIOUS about what I said!!!!!!!!!!

Laura Dern looked her prettiest ever – in Calvin Klein.  The simple dress was perfect for her beautiful thin frame, and the one detail on the shoulder was genius.   Her hair and jewelry were perfect.   LOVE!!!

Jane Fonda said she styled herself – if true, whoa.   She has a new career.  Dress by Balmain.  Love the earrings and the hair!!    She is incredibly pretty for her age, hell for ANY age!   But, she doesn’t really look very nice  – does she?

 But – the winner in WHITE was Margot Robbie.  She looked gorgeous in her Chanel dress.  It was sexy, chic, and elegant.   I LOVED that she didn’t ruin the line of the dress with a necklace.  Her hair was perfect with just a hint of a wave that accented her gorgeous eyes.  Makeup was perfect   And notice how pretty her coloring was in WHITE.   That’s something I want to talk about today – wearing a color that looks good on you. 

In interior design – when I would choose a color scheme (usually) for a woman – I would try to choose a color scheme that the homeowner would look good living in.  

Wearing clothes is the same principle.  Margot and Jane Fonda both look good in white – their hair color is well matched to the white.  Mary J Blige also looks good in white – and notice her hair color!  Again, Blige’s hair awakens the color or vice versa.  Laura Dern would have looked just a bit better if her hair had some blonder highlights. 

But – notice Camila.  Maybe she didn’t looked as pretty as she is because of the bridal dress – or maybe it is her coloring and her necklace – together, they don’t look that good or flattering in the bright white.    It’s not her dark hair color, because look how good Timothee looks in bright white – and he too has black hair.

Word of warning – always judge a outfit by how the color looks on you, with your skin coloring, your hair coloring, your makeup.

A winner this year:   Margo looked beautiful in her bright white and her mother look so pretty and age appropriate in her colorful dress.

PASTEL AND BLUSH LOOKS:

Elisabeth Moss was blushed in Christian Dior.  She also wore the trend of the Golden Globes which wasn’t nearly as trendy at the Oscars – a belt.  She looked beautiful and feminine.  Again, her coloring and hair worked perfectly with this blush pink dress.  Again – no necklace was the right choice.  And – isn’t this flattering for not a rail thin figure?

Mira Sorvino looks beautiful in her long fancy blush dress – fitting for her comeback after Harvey Weinstein ended her career, basically blacklisting her years ago.  It was a perfect dress for her first Oscars in a long time.

Emily Gordon’s pastel/blush dress had more of a tan undertone.  The belt was black.  But notice how pretty she looks – her hair is a match for the color of the dress.  Very very nice.

Allison Williams in Armani – her dress is gorgeous.  But why does she look washed out in her dress while Elisabeth Moss glows?   Her hair and skin tone just don’t look great in this particular blush color.

It’s not Allison’s dark hair – because the best dressed winner in blush is Gina Rodriguez in Zuhair Murad. Her blush fabric had a hint of brown – giving it a warmer tone – perhaps this is why Gina looked radiant in her blush dress, while Allison looked washed out.

Remember, when buying an expensive dress for a wedding or the Red Carpet – always think of the fabric, your skin tone and your hair color when making the final decision.

PINKS:

Besides the pale blush – there were true pinks this year.  Viola Davis wore a deep, true pink by Michael Kors.  I like her purse and hair – but the dress is too bubblegum pink for me.

This one really killed me.   Soarse Roonin never really looks great in her fancy Red Carpet dresses.  I think the problem is her stylist.  She needs a new one.  The proof of this was her Calvin Klein Oscar dress.  It was a total disaster.  It’s terrible.  It doesn’t even fit!  How could her stylist ever let her wear this????  Why?   In the right dress, Soarse would be stunning.  This dress was just falling off her!!!   Notice how far down the dress is from her armpits. 

  Her stylist does better with other stars, but not with Soarse. 

Her dress looked prettier from the back, she should have just sat in her chair backwards all night.  Or – she could have turned the dress around.   I do love her new short blunt hair cut and her shoes are very pretty.

Danai Gurira shows Soarse how she should have worn her pink dress.  The same neckline – but Danai wears it so, so much better.    Notice how close the dress lays to her armpits – now notice on Soarse, the dress is about 5 inches from her armpit, giving the illusion that is falling down, but it’s not really an illusion – it was falling down.

  Laurie Metcalf wore a true pink dress that had a shimmer to it.   Again – no necklace looked good with this dress.   Her dark hair looks pretty against the light pink color – Laurie looked beautiful, I thought.  Christian Siriano designed her dress which is a shocker.  Most of his dresses are not nearly this good, but he did a great job for Laurie.

THE METALLICS:

Molly Sims wore this metallic silver dress.  Very pretty but too much cleavage.  NOTE:   If you are going to have an open cleavage like this – be sure your breasts are perfect. 

Beanie Feldstein played a smart nerd in Lady Bird – but I barely recognized her here.  She looked so pretty at the Oscars.  BTW – Lady Bird is an especially good movie if you have a daughter. 

Not everyone has to wear a tight dress, but Sally Hawkes dress by Armani looked like a fancy paper bag.  And those shoulder pads.  

PLUS I am still irate that The Shape of Water won Best Picture over Call Me By Your Name!!! 

I swore that if  The Shape of Water won, I would never watch another Oscars.   So, this is my last one. 

Just a warning.

I can never do another Best Dressed At The Oscars now that the Fish Monster movie won.  I’ll just do the Golden Globes or The Emmys from now on.

Lupita Nyongo was in metallic gold.  Everyone loved her outfit, but to me it looked like she was a winner in the Miss America contest with that sash.    Not a favorite.  But I did love her hair.

Zoey Deutch in Elie Saab dress was pretty – but in certain light, her coloring clashed with the silver metallic.  I kept thinking if the dress had a bronze tone to it – she would have been a knockout.

Actually, this dress should be in the “Blush” category, not metallic – but it’s too late to change it now.  On TV it looked like a metallic to me.

In 1961 Rita Moreno won her Best Supporting Oscar for West Side Story.  She kept her dress all these years….and

wore it again last night.  But it would have looked better without the headband, the necklace, the bracelets, and the earrings.  I would have made a skin tight bolero to cover my upper arms, but that’s me.  The dress needed a little fitting.  She’s so adorable and it was a cute idea for sentimental reasons, but I guess I’m not sentimental. 

If everyone was sentimental – we would see this again:

on a 75 year old woman!!   OY!!

This is the best dress I ever saw Sandra Bullock wear on the Red Carpet – Louis Vuitton, no wonder!  But as good as she looked, I almost thought she was wearing the same dress as another star.  Sandra even joked about it on stage.

Sandra’s twin was Gal Gadot.  I thought they wore the same designer and I could NOT believe the designer would allow that!  But Gal’s dress was by Givency and up close, they didn’t look the same.  Gadot was one of my Best Dressed last night.  Total Perfection.   The black and silver looked wonderful on her.   That fringe!!   Those shoes!!!   Her hair was perfect.

As beautiful as Gal’s dress was,  her jewelry by Tiffany was a scene stealer.  I couldn’t figure out if it was vintage or new.  It was stunning.  Her stylist Elizabeth Stewart showed perfect restraint by not putting bracelets on her.   The necklace, by the way, was designed for Gal by Tiffany’s special Blue Book Collection – their one of a kind custom division.

Another runner up Best Dressed was Jennifer Lawrence.  She consistently looks great on Red Carpets because she has a contract with Dior.  The actresses with the contracts usually always look the best.    This dress was perfection.  Her hair, her makeup, the minimal jewelry.   To die for!!   I just love her.

THE WORST DRESSED – THE GIRLS WHO LOOKED LIKE THEY WORKED IN SAN FRANCISCO DURING THE GOLD RUSH YEARS:

Lindsey Vonn in Christian Siriano.  What else would you expect from him?  And as if that dress wasn’t glitzy enough – she added that necklace too!

Renee Bargh.   What IS this?!  It didn’t even fit right – notice how it was pulling at the crotch area.

I always remember the late Joan Rivers.  Her biggest complaint was that Red Carpet dresses never fit properly.  She would see them up close and would rant and rant about how poorly tailored their dresses were.  This is an example of that.

Whoopi.  Guess who?   Yep.   Christian Siriano again.

Why would anyone hire him?   See my Golden Globes recap – where he dressed half the actresses there to see more of his creations.

Maybe on someone else this would have looked better.  Emily Blunt in baby blue.   Did she just have a boy?   Emily did look prettier on the screen.   But yikes!!!!  No!!!

Salma Hayek.   Her dress did not photograph well at all.  The sequins were mostly matte and they made the dress look blurry in photos.  And Elisabeth my daughter hated this.  But I liked the dress itself.   The color was wrong for Salma -  she is on the Worst Dressed – but on someone else….taller, lithe, with no jewelry, slicked back hair – it might have been a better look.

THE DARK FABRICS:

There weren’t that many dark dresses, but the two I noticed were both Worst Dressed:

Zendaya.   I seriously checked to see if this was a Christian Siriano, but it’s not.  That sleeve!  Looks like her arm is in a sling and she’s trying to disguise it.  Terrible.  I did like her jewelry and hair.

Taraji Henson.   Too much going on here.  Too much skin.  Her hair and makeup look great, but not the dress.

  Diane Warren – she wore a square box on her back that was sewn to her sleeves. Seriously.  Look at it.  WHAT IS THAT?!?!?

Wait.  I know!   On her back was an advertisement for “Cigarettes 2 Cents a Box.”

  It’s actually by YSL.  OK, what do you expect from someone named St. Vincent?  It’s not her real name tho.  Sort of like Lady Bird.  Those shoes.  Those sleeves.   The point between her crotch.  LOL.  Seriously this is the worst of the night.  The hat is cute and her hair and make up are cute.  She’s a cute girl, but give me a break!  It’s the Oscars!!!

THE BRIGHTS:

There were a lot of primary bright dresses, like yellow – Eiza Gonzales.  The orange lipstick looks great with yellow – but coral and orange based lipstick makes your teeth look yellow too!!!   Maybe that’s why she kept her lips shut?

Greta Gerwig looked really pretty in this dress, considering what she wore to her last award show.  She’s adorable and I wished Lady Bird would have won over The Sexy Sea Monster!!! 

Lady Bird even co-stars cutie Timothee Chalamet!   LOL.  Nope, Timothee – there’s still no rain.

Look how adorable Greta’s hair looked from the side. Cutest hair cut of the night!

Another primary color was red – here on Christine Lahti who has one of the best bodies in Hollywood.   Don’t care for the shoes, but the dress was made for her thin, tall, lithe build. Can’t stand the purse either.   Hmmm.  Maybe I should just erase her?

We all know she look fabulous.  Think The Devil Wears Prada.  Fab-u-lous.

I loved what Maya Rudolph wore.  I know it’s weird and looks like something the Devil might wear if he was the pope instead of Prada – but I just liked it.  I thought she looked good and she was funny on stage.  Win.

Allison Janney looked good – she’s another one with a great body for Red Carpet clothes – tall, thin, small chested – everything I am the complete opposite of.   Hmm. 

So that’s what my problem with clothes is?????

OK – Allison’s dress looked very nice on her, I liked her purse and hair.   But her stylist should have left the necklace and earrings off.  I just kept staring at them, not looking at Allison – they were a distraction in a bad way.   That’s why you hire stylists – but only GOOD stylists.

Like I know what I’m talking about.

The Blues.  Jennifer Garner.  I really hated this dress.  It reminds me of a Mother Of the Bride from the 90s.  Or maybe something Joan Collins would have worn on Dynasty.  So matronly.  Not a good look for a young mother now trying to hang onto her career by her fingernails.   Versace.

 Not bright blue, but the periwinkle blue looks lovely on Helen Mirren.  But please, lose the black shoes.  Her jewelry looks perfect – it dresses up the plain outfit.  And her hair!  Fabulous!!!!  Another Best Hair of the night.  She looked great – what an inspiration!

OK – green is not a primary color, but put blue and yellow together and it’s close enough.

Wendi McLendon Covey was one of a very few wearing the oh so trendy green – and she looked good in the color.  It went perfectly with her skin tone and hair.    She looked very pretty –and her cleavage looked even younger than she is.   My only complaint (of which I seem to have a lot!) – her lip needed to be darker.

  Another bright, sort of primary color – Ashley Judd and Jennifer Garner should have their kids marry each other so they can both wear their Mother of the Bride dresses to the wedding.

Like I said, it wasn’t a great night for fashion. 

I didn’t get that WOW feeling too much.  But here they were:

5. Dorme Only in Star Wars could a style this outrageous look fit into the background. Padme’s handmaiden rocks a kawaii-as-hell hair bow that puts even Girls’ Shoshanna to shame. “Hair bows” (as in bows styled with actual human hair, not cute cloth bows with a clip) are a very real, and wonderfully strange, thing. But we’re pretty sure its impossible to make one IRL with this much volume using only natural hair. Please, though, someone make a tutorial to prove us wrong.

12. Han Solo Though Han is a total babe, his hair is a little fluffy and we cant stand a middle part. What else do you expect from a stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking Nerfherder? Still, he’s got a good head of hair and we can’t knock those retro sideburns. We also like his conservative, tapered cut in Force Awakensa solid look for an older Han.

13. Luke Skywalker Baby Skywalker starts out with a retro ’70s feathered mop. A little dated now, but very “of his time.” When we meet back up with him in Force Awakens, he has transitioned to a scruffy hair/beard combo. Very old-school Jedi. Though, dear hipsters, the next time you think that this is a cute look, think of the fact that the make-up and hair folks working on the film thought this would be the best way to show that someone was literally cloistered away on a fucking island for decades.

14. Sabe Her style makes for a crazy-couture, runway-ready look. Its not easy imitating the queen, especially when that means you have to wear giant hair croissants on the side of your head. (What is up with these people and hair that resembles pastries?) Kudos to her for rocking it.

15. Chewbacca One of the few characters who is literally covered in hair from head to toe, his routine includes a complex combination of hair oil, holding spray, careful shampooing, a special hairbrush to comb out the snarls on his butt, and wand-created curls. Seriously.

Chewie is at his best when his locks are wind-swept and looks significantly creepy when his hair is brushed smooth. Whats with the volume? Is his forehead just super long or is he wearing a Bump It? We advocate for him getting a Border Terrier-style trim. Google it and you will agree.

16. Anakin Skywalker This one is tricky. Anakin has, at points, both very good hair AND the definitive worst hair in the galaxy. Lets start with 20-something Anakin’s wind-blown surfer hair, a look thats later copped by his psycho grandson, Kylo Ren. Carefree! Classic! Two thumbs up! On the other hand, young Anakin has a freakin’ rat-tail. You say Padawan braid, we say rat-tail, and it doesnt matter because, when it comes down to it, we can all agree that its gross. We cant decide if he looks like he just walked out of a Hot Topic with bad rubber bracelets and a t-shirt from a band hes never actually heard or if hes a recent escapee from a hippie commune. Just: nope, nope, nope.
