I know know this might seem weird but can you maybe write a one shot or something where it’s vox trying to win the reader and he does the cheesy standing outside with a boombox or speaker or something playing a love song? I don’t know what it is but I can see him doing that. weirdly enough I feel like it’d also be funny because I imagine if it was at the hotel and imagine alastor ends up messing with the boombox or speaker and makes it play something embarrassing like baby shark or something saying he’s a loser and he gets all embarrassed and ends up destroying it and regrets it almost immediately
while Angel is making fun of Vox calling him a simp and he (and everyone except Charlie who is trying to hold it in or thinks it’s sweet and romantic)is dying from laughter on how bad it failed 🤣
and poor Vox gets so embarrassed he just zaps away to be made fun of by the other V’s without hearing a response from the reader
and call me a sucker but it ends up being funny and sweet to the reader
SAY ANYTHING!₊˚⊹♡
characters: vox x gn!reader
wc: 714
warnings: cursing, REALLY cheesy but i love it 😭
Vox paced nervously outside the grand hotel, a cascade of conflicting emotions churning within him.
Tonight marked the culmination of countless nights spent wrestling with his feelings for you, and he was determined to lay his heart bare.
He wasn't used to this chasing thing, of course he had flirted with other people before, but usually they all rapidly complied.
However, you deserved more.
You deserved a GRAND gesture.
A rom-com kinda gesture, something you would remember forever.
And there is nothing more romecomish than standing outside playing a love song from his speaker.
This wasn't his type of thing, he had to admit that.
But for you? He would do anything.
Unsure of how he felt, all his focus was on one thing:
"y/n is going to love this"
With a flourish, he raised the boombox high above his head, its speakers belting out a tender love ballad that echoed through the night air.
It was cheesy, he knew that.
But to him, all that mattered was you.
"The fuck is that sound?" Angel asks, looking over at Husk as he shrugs his shoulders.
Vaggie looked out the window. "It's the fucking tv."
Alastor appeared by her side, also looking out the window.
He turned to look at Vaggie, his smile turning even more sinister as he disappeared again.
"y/n this one's for you sweetie." Angel shouts, teasing.
"What is?" You walk down the stairs, towards the lobby.
"Look out the window." Angel stands up from the sofa and accompanies you.
Your heart swelled with affection as you watched Vox standing there, his determination etched into every line of his face.
His heart started pounding in his chest the minute he saw your face on the window, summoning the courage to shout out your name, to let you know just how much you meant to him.
But before he could utter a single word, the music abruptly changed, replaced by the unmistakable sounds of fucking Baby Shark.
A wave of mortification washed over Vox as he fumbled to silence the mocking tune, his cheeks burning with embarrassment. Alastor's laughter rang out from somewhere nearby, followed by Angel's teasing jibes.
"He's such a loser." Angel's laughter bubbled up as he walked away from the window, leaving you there.
You couldn't help but smile at the desastrous, but endearing attempt from Vox.
Vox's frustration boiled over as he struggled to shut off the boombox, his pride wounded by the unexpected turn of events. With a muttered curse, he finally succeeded, but the damage had been done.
As the laughter of the other demons echoed through the hotel, you knew you had to do something. Wrapping a coat around your shoulders, you hurried outside to find Vox, your heart pounding in your chest.
When you reached the spot where he had been standing, you found it empty, Vox having vanished into the night. But you refused to let him slip away without a word.
"Vox?" you called out softly, scanning the darkness for any sign of him.
A moment later, Vox materialized before you, his expression a mix of embarrassment and uncertainty. "I-I'm sorry, y/n. I didn't mean for it to go like that."
You stepped closer, a gentle smile playing on your lips. "It's okay, Vox. I thought it was sweet."
Vox's eyes widened in surprise, a flicker of hope igniting within them. "Really?"
You nodded, reaching out to take his hand in yours. "Really. I appreciate the effort you put into it."
A warm flush spread across Vox's cheeks as he returned your gaze, his heart swelling with joy. "I don't know if you got to hear the song, but what I'd meant for it to be was, kinda like a rom-com, I know you love those so-"
"I know what you meant Vox." Your hand lightly grazed his arm, stopping his rambling.
In that moment, the tension that had hung between you melted away, leaving only the undeniable bond that connected you. With a soft smile, Vox leaned in, his lips meeting yours in a tender kiss that spoke volumes of the love he felt for you.
As you melted into his embrace, the world faded away, leaving only the two of you, lost in the sweetness of the moment.

Heblo! I is here to offer ideas!
How about a fic where reader is attacked badly while walking through the city, and when they return they fail miserably at hiding their injuries from Alastor? He helps patch them up, maybe hands them to someone else; but secretly he's super pissed that someone touched HIS plaything/friend.
Can be platonic or they're pining for each other- either one!
I made this platonic because we need more platonic Alastor
-you were strolling down the streets of Hell, carrying two bags of items Charlie needed for her first week celebration for Sir Pentious. If you were honest to yourself, you didn't like the guy one bit, even after having the chance to get to know him. He was a genius at inventing but he had the communicable skills of a toaster.
-following the GPS on your phone back to the Hotel you accidentally bumped into a shorter demon you hadn't noticed, being too engrossed in your phone. You profusely apologized to him and tried to make your way around him but he grabbed you by both wrists, making you drop your items and breaking the glass decorations.
-"ah, what the hell??" you demanded, trying to break free. The demon, a small loan shark, had an iron grip on your wrists and wasn't letting go. He moved both wrists to one hand, which was somehow big enough to hold both your wrists, and with his free hand he drew out a knife, hastily jabbing it in your stomach and running away. Blood spewed from your new wound, covering your freed hands and your bags. Leaving them where they were you stumbled back to the hotel to patch yourself up.
-right as you entered the hotel Alastor manifested near you, his Cheshire grin bright as always. "I smelled blood, I thought you brought me someone to eat," he chuckled. He hadn't noticed your injuries. Good. You didn't want him to make a big fuss over your stab wound.
-swallowing the blood rising in your throat you shook your head. "I'm afraid not, tall dark and creepy. I lost the groceries and I need to shower up before heading out to get more," you explained in a hurry as you tried to heave yourself to the staircase. Alastor placed a hand on your shoulder before you could make a movie however, gently removing your hands, revealing your fresh stab wound. His eye twitched, smile wavering slightly.
-"who did this to you?" he inquired as he summoned a first aid kit and laid you down on the floor. You looked away from him as he gently lifted your shirt to examine the wound. "Just some short stack loan shark. I bumped into him by accident and his response was to bruise my wrists and stab me before running off." You weren't sure why at the moment but Alastor took a good, long sniff of your wrist, as though committing it to memory.
-"stay still, this will sting," he warned as he pressed a towel doused in rubbing alcohol against your wound. You instinctively hid your mouth under your hand, grunting in pain. As soon as it happened it was over, and Alastor was applying gauze to the wound and pressing some bandages around the edge to keep it in place. "There, go find Willow and she'll do a better job than I did," he helped you to your knees and watched you waddle off to the small nurse's station.
-In a brief moment of solitude Alastor's smile faltered. He considered you to be his only friend in this joke of a Hotel. You had known each other for a long time and while he found it silly that you supported Charlie's idea, he appreciated your breath of fresh air. He clutched his cane in one hand, the other balling into a fist. Before anyone else could see him he left the hotel with a certain goal in mind.

“Boop!”
One moment, Todd’s dozing, one earbud in his ear blasting Soundgarden at max volume. The next, without warning, a hand firmly plants itself smack dab in the middle of his forehead with a resounding thwack.
His eyes fly open, the nap he’d been trying to finagle at his desk in the middle of a workday thoroughly interrupted, to find Dirk standing over him, grinning like an idiot. Todd pulls the earbud out of his ear, the tinny hum of Black Hole Sun still barely audible.
“Wh– what the fuck was that?”
He presses a hand over where the skin of his forehead is smarting, still trying to process what had just happened.
“A boop, Todd, obviously. I booped you. You have been booped.”
“You just–? I was–? What were you–? I just–?” Todd stutters, trying to come up with the right sequence of words to express the potent cocktail of abrupt shock, burgeoning annoyance, and utter bewilderment flooding his brain in response to being hit on the head for no reason. “Why?”
“Well, you see, I spent the morning observing our beloved shat’s behavior–”
“Please stop calling her that.”
“But that’s what she is,” Dirk protests. “She’s a shark and a cat: ergo, shat.”
“She has a name that we all voted and agreed on that isn’t… shat.”
For the record, it’s Cecilia, not that Dirk ever uses it.
“Yes, well, semantics aside, I spent a significant portion of my morning conducting an observational study on her behavior, and came to the conclusion that, when in a playful mood and faced with a familiar individual whose undivided attention she desires, she performs what I have expertly dubbed a ‘boop’.”
Todd’s experienced– he’s not going to call it ‘booping’, he’s still got some pride remaining– whatever this is from the agency’s adopted shark-cat many times before. She’ll drape herself across the nearest occupied desk and bat at its occupant with her paws until she’s gotten what she’s wanted. But while (as long as she’s not using her claws) the shark-cat’s attempts at diversion are endearing at best and distracting at worst, Dirk’s attempt to emulate her had been downright painful.
“Don’t do it again,” Todd says shortly. With any luck, Dirk will actually listen.
“Of course you wouldn’t appreciate it,” he frowns. “I should have guessed, since you’re a self-professed dog person for some indiscernible reason.”
“I promise you, there’s not a single person on Earth who would appreciate being hit on the head, dog person or not.”
As if summoned by the universe itself, Cecilia picks this moment to join the argument, jumping up onto Todd’s desk and flopping down next to his arm, purring, totally unaware of the chaos she’s wrought on the agency today.
“Well, the shat agrees with me, doesn’t she?”
Cecilia flicks the tip of her tail and bumps her forehead against Dirk’s hand. Traitor. This is why Todd prefers dogs.
“Now, where’s Farah gone off to?”
“Bad idea,” Todd warns.
“I don’t know what you mean, it’s an excellent idea. I’m sure she’ll appreciate my foray into feline methods of affection much more than you did.”
“Dude, I’m warning you–”
“And I don’t want to hear it. She’s in the interrogation room, right?”
Whatever Todd says isn’t going to matter; Dirk’s obviously not listening to him. Mustering up all the judgment he has in him (spoiler: it’s a lot), he stares Dirk down with flat condemnation in one final attempt to dissuade him.
“Right?” Dirk tries again, totally unaffected.
Todd sighs and gives in. “Whatever, it’s your funeral, man.”
“I’ll take that as a yes, then.”
Dirk practically skips out of the room, hurtling headlong into what Todd’s sure is certain death.
Whatever happens, it’s out of Todd’s hands now. He sits back in his chair, arms crossed, and waits.
Sure enough, Dirk’s voice rings out from the next room moments later.
“Boop!”
Thwack.
And then, from the other room, there’s a startled cry, the all-too-familiar crashing sound of a table collapsing under the sudden weight of a fully grown adult, and a brief moment of stunned silence broken by muffled, distressed groaning.
Todd winces. That sounded painful.
“Dirk, what the hell was that?!” comes Farah’s exasperated cry, echoing sharply down the hall.
Well, Todd thinks, putting his single headphone back in and resting his head back down against his desk, he had tried to warn Dirk.

Okay, I had this thought earlier when I was petting my dog, what if ghouls thumped their feet/leg (idk) when you scratch them in certain places? Like, for example, if you scratch Cumulus under her chin her tail wags and leg thumps?????
I’m gonna right about it, right now.
Swiss x Phantom (they’re so me core)
It’s mostly just fluff ig, a bit suggesting for like 0.2 seconds at the end.
Phantom lay on the couch, watching but not really listening to whatever Mountain had put on the TV. Some nature documentary or something. Phantom preferred the shark documentaries anyway.
Phantom felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to see Swiss, grinning at him.
“Hey, bat, I’m feeling kinda lonely, come with me to my room?” His grin stayed, his tone soft, but had an undertone of mischief.
“Ummm… yeah, sure, I’ll go with you. As long as you’re not planning anything” Phantom may have been new to living topside, but he wasn’t as gullible as some ghouls were when they were first summoned.
“I promise… now hurry up! Pleaseeeee” Swiss whined, trying, and failing, to give Phantom puppy eyes.
“Fine fine, I’m coming” Phantom said as he got up “bye Mountain”
Mountain merely hummed in response, seeming very concentrated on a particular plant in the documentary.
Both Swiss and Phantom make their way to Swiss’ room. Swiss turned to Phantom.
“Hey, bat…I need to try something, I’ve tried it with some of the others, and they LOVED it”
“Depends, what is it?”
“It’s a surprise”
Swiss grinned again “you up for it?”
Phantom contemplated for a moment. “Fine, but it better not be anything weird”
“Thank you thank you! Don’t worry, you’re gonna love it”
Swiss led phantom so sit on his bed, Phantom crossed his legs, which he seemed to do a lot. Swiss sat on the swivel chair Rain and Dew had gotten him for his birthday. Swiss gently placed his hand on the smaller ghouls thigh, easing his legs to sit in front of him, rather than being crossed legged. Phantoms feet resting on the floor.
“Good boy” Swiss hummed, making phantom swallow hard, his cheeks going a slightly darker lilac than the rest of him.
“You sure you’re okay with this?” Swiss asked, not wanting to cross any boundaries.
“I’m sure, I promise” phantom reassured.
Swiss nodded and moved his hand to be under Phantoms chin, he scratched gently. Phantoms eyes gently closed, but nothing more.
Swiss’ hand travelled to be behind phantoms horns, he scratched there too, Phantom merely hummed.
Then he moved his hand to the back of phantoms neck and he audibly gasped. Phantom tilted his head back, his tail gently wagging.
“That nice, baby bat?” Swiss asked, sounding teasing.
“Y-yeah…do it harder” phantom paused “…please”
“As you wish”
Swiss happily obliged, scratching the back of his neck slightly harder. Phantoms foot began to thump against the soft carpeting on Swiss’ rooms floor, Phantom purring gently.
Swiss smirked and begin to wrap his hand around his neck, squeezing for a mere second, causing Phantom to let out a down right whorish whine.
Swiss’ smirk only widened
“Oh, Phantom, you should be careful what noises you let slip”

Sundress
Pairing: Abner Krill x reader
Genre/Warnings: Fluff, slight NSFW, little make-outish, friends with benefits, lots of flirting from other characters (besides Abner), PDA (Public Display of Affection)
Summary: Abner was living a totally “normal” life… until he saw his best friend in a sundress. ❤️🔥
(PS: does this photo look small out of editing (like when it’s posted) or is it just me??)
It was a rare occasion that The Suicide Squad would get to go on a badass mission to save the world. This wasn’t the first time, but the last mission of just tracking a small drug cartel wasn’t as fun as your current mission.
“Operation: Sun n’ Gun” Waller announced, the current mission list consisted of Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Ratcatcher 2, King Shark, Rick Flag, Polkadot man, and you! This was your first mission with everyone, except for Polka-dot man. As amazing as it was, you two had actually grown more together in prison, seeing as he was the only one able to get you to come out of hiding.
“Question-“ “No questions until I say so, Christopher. Your mission is to uncover a cult that plans on summoning some sort of Kathulu like demon from the ocean. As ridiculous as that sounds, I’m sure you’ve seen the human-sized weasel, so don’t think about the demon too much. Any questions?” Chris raises his hand, Waller ignores him and calls on Bloodsport, “How the hell are we gonna blend in, in a place like that?” He makes hand gestures towards himself, with the way everyone is dressed, he has a point. “We have that covered, and if we don’t have any more questions, we can get you all suited up and dropped down there.” She turns off the projector as we all make our way to a room, with in which eight people stand, each with a costume bag. They’re a thick white material so you don’t see what’s underneath “Jesus, do we really need to dress up?” Bloodsport groans, Waller taps your shoulder to give you the signal to let her through “It’s necessary if you don’t want me to eradicate you. Now, they will hand you the outfit, then your will get changed and head straight to the drop ship. Are we clear?” She eyes everyone, her eyes landing on your “You will need extra time, seeing as you will be distractor number one, understand?” Your brows furrow “Distra- what do you mean?” She sighs, “talk and walk, I’ll discuss it with you while you change. The rest of you, hurry up, and get dressed out.”
“So what’s this about me being distractor number one?” You step into a small dressing room, closing the curtain behind you. “As shocking as it may seem, the cult leader is obsessed with women, and with various amounts of research into his ‘type’ I felt as if you were the best candidate.” You open the bag “Is this a dress?” She leans against the changing room “I asked most of my men what they think women on the beach look most attractive in, and while I expected them to say ‘Skimpy Bikini’s’ or even nothing at all, the majority said Sundresses. Strange, but they know what would happen if they were to lie to me, so I trust their responses.” You exhale, loud enough for Waller to hear “I’ve done some fucked shit, but this is probably the weirdest thing I’ve ever done... or wore.” You turn it around looking at it from every angle, it isn’t even on you and you’re already concerned. “Look if anything happens, everyone else will be there to help… especially Abner Krill, he seems to have taken a liking to you.” You laugh a little bit “Feelings mutual.” You mumble to yourself, biting the inside of your lip just thinking about him, he’s cute, quiet, and as thrilling as you could ever imagine. He would sneak off and find you during free time, and if he feels like it, maybe gets a little touchy. But after two arms through the sleeves, the sundress is on “holy shit…” you step out, the only person left, looking more than perfect. You could almost see a slight smile forming at the corners of Wallers mouth “You’re ready. Hurry up and get on the drop ship. You have work to do.” You nod and quickly hurry to the ship. It’s fitting in all the right places, short in the most flattering way, and god damn you had to admit you looked hot.
“Woah.” “Holy shit!” “What happened to you?” You hop onto the drop-ship, everyone inside staring, even Colonel Flag of all people. Your face turns red from embarrassment, but there’s just something you can’t seem to not notice. Krill is sitting there, just looking at you. While he normally smiles once you spot him and then look away awkwardly, he is just staring. From shoulders, to thighs, he just can’t seem to get enough. You sit next to Abner, his eyes still scanning over your body. Cleo, Harley, and even King Shark still spewing compliments, “You look very nice in the dress!” “You’re so hot, OMG! We could be like- twins!” “PRETTY FLOWERS”, and you delivering them back. Peacemaker making inappropriate remarks, while Bloodsport just makes quick peaks with undeterminable facial expressions. You still turn back and see Abner, not looking at you. You gently graze your fingers over his hand, “Hey, you doing okay?” His head shoots up, as he was recovering from his daze. “Uh- yeah-“ he gazes finally meets yours and he offers you a soft smile. Peacemaker laughs way too loudly “He totally wants to bang!” Abner looks away, ashamed “Don’t worry Polka-man, I would too, trust me-“ you shoot Chris the most painful daggers, “What? It’s a compliment, ever heard em?” You grimace “Chris, I will shove this umbrella so far up your ass, I swear” Flag stammers into the conversation, “I will say you look very nice.” You smile, “Thank You, Colonel Flag.” He smiles back, Chris pouting in his seat.
The drop-ship lands and quickly lets you all off. “So we just have to stay on the beach all night and wait for the cult to arrive?” Flag asks Waller, “Yes, and remember if you deviate-“ “We lose our heads…” you all say in unison. “Well, we get to have a fun day in the sun before we uncover a cult.” Flag says, grabbing some of the luggage. “Did Waller provide these?” Cleo asks, “Nope, I just don’t want to be bored for however the hell long the cult takes.” Bloodsport and King Shark grab the rest of the stuff before everyone else goes ahead. “After you” Flag winks at you, you blush. You go ahead and catch up with Abner “Hey” he smiles at you, biting the inside of his lip. You lean your head against his shoulder “Hey, you feeling better?” He nods “Yeah, sorry… it’s just rare to see you out of orange. You look…” you can hear his breath hitch as he tries to avoid looking at you. “Stunning.” He says trying to hide an oncoming smile. Getting a random burst of confidence, you shoot back “Well you can look at me as much as you want before the mission really starts” you can hear Cleo “oooh” to her rat, Sebastian. He mumbles, “I’d like to do more than look.” You genuinely didn’t hear what he said, but it couldn’t have been that important… right?
After about 30 minutes of walking through the jungle, you reach the beach and set up. Immediately, you realize the only fault of the disguise… you can’t swim. There wasn’t a bathing suit or anything in there, so unless you want to strip, you can’t get in the beautiful, clear water. You pout, laying on your beach towel. Although you wouldn’t really care just swimming in your undergarments, Chris had to be creepy and say ‘he wouldn’t mind seeing that’, which earned him a slap across the face. After a minute of pouting someone sits next to you, casting a light shadow on you. You look up to see him, “Abner, you don’t have to stay up here. Go, swim and have fun.” He leans back on his hands “They’re doing their own thing. Besides, I don’t want you to be lonely.” You smile, as you sit up be at his eye-level. And with a burst of, what can only be assumed as lust, Abner’s hand quickly reaches to yours, and his hands wander mindlessly. “Abner-“ his face leans in close to yours “yes?” His breath clashing with your own, his hand finding its way to your thigh. “What about the others?” His lips inching towards yours “I don’t give a shit what they do anymore.” His open hand reaches for your face as his lips clash with yours, and you’re down for the count. Your lips melt into his, and his hand that was placed on your thigh makes its way up to your waist. He earns a pleased moan from you that echos between your mouths. You can’t hear the others whispers over the sounds of the waves, but like Abner said, you don’t give a shit what they do anymore. Your back reaches the towel and Abner quickly starts to slightly hover over you. Once he pulls away, he starts leaving kisses around your jaw and neck. He loves the way your legs squirm when he touches the right spots. Your arms slowly work their way up his caging arms. “Abner…” he hums as his lips make their way down your arm and to your thigh. Your arms retract to hide your blush ridden face, his lips slowly growing closer and closer to the inside of your sundress. Hands wandering, heat rising, situation escalating. He pulls away before he goes too far, and holds your head in his hands “If I see any of them looking at you the way only I’m supposed to, I’ll do something rash.” He says calmly. “I won’t let them.” You both slowly sit up, as he gently moves you to his lap. “You’ve been praising me this whole time Krill, and I haven’t gotten a chance to do the same for you.” You pout, he leans his forehead against his “Don’t worry about it, love. I like seeing you in this… and in this way.” His almost liquor laced words keep making you want to come back for more, but you have to resist as much as you don’t want to. “Yes, but I like seeing you like this too. I’ve never seen you in just shorts before… I must admit, it’s much better seeing you this close.” You tease, he smiles shyly. “Maybe after this mission, if Waller lets us go… we could have our own beach date?” You cup his face in your hands, “Abner Krill, are you asking me out on a date?” He averts his gaze, as if he didn’t just ravish you on the beach in front of others. “W-well, I mean if-“ you bring a finger to his lips “I’m just teasing, Abs, I would love to go on a date with you.” His gaze returned to you, seemingly melting with love. “Words can’t describe how much I cherish you, love.”
You lean in before someone touches your shoulder “Sorry, Krill, but the Cult leader arrived, and we need your lover girl to go for him.” He pouts, as Flag helps you up. “I’ll be safe, Abner. I have You after all” You send him a smile before straightening the dress out.
“So, I just go over there, hope he’s seduced by me and get intel?” Flag nods “yep.” You give him a confused look “But why me, and not Harley or Cleo?” He straightens his posture “Well, out of all of us, you’re exactly his type. And if I may say, you do look very nice, so it should work.” You grimace “I don’t even wanna know how you figured out his ‘type’ of woman.” He seethes “You really don’t but, you’re ready just walk past him.” You fix your hair, puff out your sundress, and you saunter your way past him. He isn’t attractive, to say the least. Hell, you probably would’ve gotten with TDK before him. He’s scrawny, but has some muscles. Hair is probably the best feature, but has a hideous open scar on his face. You don’t stare too long, but as soon as you look away, he whistles “Hey there, Pretty Kitty, c’mere!” You walk over to him, and he’s basically foaming at the mouth when you walk up to him. “Well, what brings a pretty thing like you to this here beach?” You fake giggle “I just like the way the sun feels on my skin… why, should I be here for something else?” He leans in closer to you, as if he wasn’t a tiny bit terrifying to begin with he was humongous, at least 6’11. “Why don’t you come sit with me, I want to get to know you better” he holds out a hand for you to take, the pungent smell of old beer on his tongue. You take his hand, scared to see what he might do next “I’d like that.” He smiles “Good girl.” You want to barf, if anyone was going to call you that it’d be Abner… but we’re not gonna talk about that. He guides you to sit on his lap “Don’t be shy, now, baby. I won’t bite… unless you want me to.” His tongue, abnormally reptile shaped, you begin to wonder if he’s even human himself. Still, you keep up the act, giggling and blushing at his creepily “flirty” passes. “Take me out to dinner first” you drape your arms around his shoulders, “I can do a lot of things on a first date, baby.” He winks at you. Barf, gross, Ew, no, thank you. “Oh really… could you show me?” He smiles with an evil grin “I’d show you but we’d have to go somewhere more discreet.” You sigh, luckily your radio is on, so flag understands his signal. “What would you show me?” He leans in close to your ear, his hot breath tingling the peach fuzz on your face, all you can think about right now is Abner, how you want him to save you from this god awful mission “Whatever you want me to show you.” You lean into him, trying not to break character “Oh, my…” he chuckles before standing up with you still in his arms. He makes his way to the forest before he gets shot down by Bloodsport… and Chris too. The screams of other beach visitors echoing in the air, the beach eventually being fully cleared. He looks up at me with some of his final breath, “You fucking- you set me up whore!” You take one of his nearby beer bottles and break it on his head “I did, and you enjoyed it too!” You take the rest of the bottle and stab it through his chest. “Fuck! That guy sucks!” Quickly you’re scooped into a pair of arms, arms extremely familiar. “I’m so glad you’re safe. He didn’t hurt you right?” Abner checks your face for wounds “I’m okay, Abbie, I’m okay.” He holds you for a second before looking behind you in horror “What’s wrong-?” You’re cut off by the distant sound of chanting and eventually a giants roar. “No fucking way-“
“Are you kidding me?!” Everyone groans “I thought they needed their leader??” You drag your face with your hands before Waller comes back on the comms “Apparently, what you just did, is make their leader the sacrifice. I was hoping the sacrifice was just going to be our lovely Agent here, but whatever. Kill the demon and the cult members.” You’re furious “I’m sorry, re-fucking-peat what you just said?” Cleo gasps “She was trying to sacrifice you!” You turn to Flag “Did you know about this?!” He puts his hands up “I swear to god, I didn’t, you know that!” You huff “I don’t give a shit, I’m killing all of them, and when I am done, you better pray to whatever gods you all believe in that I don’t come back and kill the rest of you.” You argue, walking away… before quickly coming back “Okay, maybe not by myself, but- just come on!”
Operation: Sun n’ Gun: Successful!
Flying back to the prison, ready to be released was the best feeling. Well besides laying on Abner, and him being the most comfortable thing in your life. After your releasing, you did go on the beach date. It was quiet, empty, and most importantly; romantic. Now it was just you two against the world, and you both loved every minute of it.
~
(A/N): I’ve been meaning to write him for a hot minute, and with the sundress season coming up I couldn’t get him and his slutty man face out of my head 🤭 Anywaysssss… I hope you enjoyed! 🩷

Egregiupsaltes
“EGREGIUPSALTES-He is an infernal Duke of immense power and appeareth akin to a man with red skin and horns extending from his ears and chin. He causeth all who surround the summoner to engage in song, dance and other such merriment for as long as the summoner can bindeth him and provides inspiration and talent in the arts of musical composition and stage performance. He is capable of pushing men to reveal hidden secrets that they would otherwise keep concealed. He governeth 20 Legions of Spirits and is summoned by a seal imprinted upon a talisman. Knoweth this should ye summon him: Egregiupsaltes, while oft of good humor, demandeth burnt offerings. If they are not received any personages around thee may be compelled to dance until they burn. Egregiupsaltes also doth from time to time demand a bride, whom he shalt take to his realm if he is given one.”
-Excerpt from De Vermis Mysteriis by Ludvig Prinn, 1269
“NEW YORK, NEW YORK-NYPD sources have confirmed that popular nightclub singer Reno Sweeney was found dead in her apartment this morning at the age of 42. Sweeney, a former evangelist and ex-fiancé of British Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, was found burned to death. The circumstances of Sweeney’s death closely mirror the circumstances surrounding the demise of champion gambler Sky Masterston two years ago, though the cause of Masterton’s death likewise remains a mystery. Sweeney’s funeral is scheduled for next Sunday.”
-Obituary for Reno Sweeney found in the Daily Bugle, April 17th, 1939
“Yes folks, you’ve got trouble! Right here in River City! And that trouble is Satanism! I have found proof—definitive proof—that members of this town have been consorting with dark forces! I want to assure you fine folks that I will work tirelessly to uncover who is responsible for unleashing dark forces on your fair community, so long as I draw breath!”
-Excerpt from a sermon by Reverend Elmer Gantry, 1921
“Blue Rose Case #046-Localized Musical Phenomenon. Seem to manifest in close proximity to teenaged populations (see Rydell High School and Jets-Sharks incidents files). Potential ties to the music of Conrad Birdie under investigation but remain unconfirmed. Known impact on Agent Everett Scott in course of 1959 investigation into alien phenomena. Dr. Scott’s opinion is that aliens in question may venerate a particular infernal entity possessing the ability to create this.”
-Excerpt from a briefing memo sent by UIU Agent Kent Mansley to FBI Director J. Henry Lux, 1961
“The immolation of the gigantic Triffid responsible for terrorizing New York is still under active investigation by authorities. As of this time, police and federal officials remain uncertain as to how it was that the entity formerly known as Audrey II met its demise. Initial rumors that the Justice League was responsible for doing so have been debunked.
Speaking of which, as the Triffid invasion seems to be cast into memory alongside the Mollusc, Kanamit and Furon attacks, we are continuing our efforts to encourage people to help people find missing loved ones. If you are in the Baltimore area and see this woman—Penny Lou Pingleton—please contact the number you see before you…”
-Broadcast by Howard Beale on UBS Evening News, March 16, 1962
“My father’s papers have concealed within them some most foul and infernal documents. I have chosen to destroy them rather than let future generations be forced to confront his mistakes. The ring he had given Anna…was that a token of affection or a curse he sought to pass off? Either way I have ordered it buried in a remote part of Indochina. Hopefully it stays buried.”
-Excerpt from the diary of Thai King Chulalongkorn, written in December of 1868
“No, please, I can get you more sacrifices! I was able to give you a busload before, remember? NOOOO!! AGGGH!”
-Last words of Cory Radison, 2011
“SCP-7172 is not solely responsible for localized musical phenomena. It is estimated that at least 40% of LMPs occur due to the radiation of dimensional energies from the Land of Oz in areas where the boundaries between worlds wear thin for instance. However, SCP-7172 is responsible for a very high number of instances of LMPs including documented instances in:
-Albuquerque, New Mexico, centered on East High School. No casualties documented.
-Salt Lake City, Utah-Centered on the Latter-Day Saints Church Missionary Training Center, effects followed several elders on missions to Uganda, Japan and Norway. 3 casualties documented (2 in Norway, 1 in Japan)
-Cladwell, New Mexico-Effects were felt by the entirety of town. Notably SCP-7172’s impacts were indirectly responsible for the Water Riots of 2011 and the subsequent destruction of the town. Direct casualties: 6 Indirect Casualties: 732.”
-Excerpt from SCP-7172’s file, declassified 2038

Warmest regards,
Mack the Knife.”

Silver Infinity ((Kamukura X Komaeda)) (Chapter One)
There was no sea too brutal for the shadow of the ship that caressed the ocean. Not even as the waters gashed across the wooden sides, or the masts cracked and snapped with the wind pounding against them, the ship stood strong and the crew even stronger.
"Four o'clock, Captain!" A man's voice called from the lookout tower, swaying so meticulously that it was as though the man would fall at any moment. It was a wonder such simple human eyes could see beyond the thick blanket of rain, but not even the storm could hide the massive vessel approaching ever closer. The ship swiveled near, only narrowly avoiding slamming the boats into each other. The captain squinted his eyes, struggling to see who was steering such a ship, and who had the gull to simply park beside him like they were summoned to some dinner party.
The unsteady flooring didn't serve any help but it wasn't that much a problem, this wasn't the first storm the Captain had pushed through. He took a short step forward and placed his pale hand on the railing, keeping himself standing as he continued to study the second ship. It was painted in black, much too fancy for another pirate. How stupid did they have to be, flaunting their wealth on the open waters? This was just begging to be robbed. "Men," He started a command towards the waiting crew before a flash of a moving figure pulled his attention back to the opposite wheel. A man stood tall, features too difficult to make out in the storm. Though it must have been the Captain, who else would it be?
"Captain Izuru Kamukura of Damascus!" The voice called over, almost drowned out with the boiling seawater crashing against the ships. "You pilot the Warrior's Revenge, right!?" Izuru didn't find such a thing worthy of a response. "I've been looking for you, King!" Despite the boasting weather, somehow the voice came clear to the Captain. Perhaps he always had a good sense of hearing, or the other captain drew his attention beyond the thunder, for whatever reason, he could hear the milky voice of the man calling over and he wasn't pleased with it. "Mind if we come over?"
Izuru barely had time to respond before the enemy's crewmen dropped a board between the ships. He wasn't sure what it was, but something in the Captain's mind snapped in anger. Who was this guy that dared invade his ship? Someone being a damn idiot, what else? The Captain drew his sword with a metallic scrape from the sheathe and hurried to the lower level of the ship where his men were already engaged in battle. It took only a glance of the enemy's men to see they were thin and fragile, barely worth his attention. No, his crew could handle these guys, Izuru's focus was more turned to...
Yes, there. Beyond the makeshift bridge, the Captain's shadow lay beyond. He stood tall, perhaps slightly taller than Izuru himself, with hands bearing a sharp-edged sword. Take out the leader, that would end it. The Captain allowed himself to look a minute more, simply taking in the view of who would soon be spilling blood into the blue sea. Perhaps the sharks would enjoy having a taste of such an elegant 'pirate', if that's what he could even be called. He could not see this man as a fellow pirate.
As he inhaled, Izuru could taste the electricity in the air. It felt energizing, but not quite exciting. Not yet at least, if he could even feel excited. That would depend on how well this man could put up a good fight. It had been a while since anyone dared challenge him of all pirates. As carefully as he could without falling into the ravaged waves below, Izuru pushed himself forward onto the board. The waiting man made no movements. He was almost like a statue. One foot in front of the other, his black boots glided across the wood. Just as he thought it would be flawless, from the corner of Izuru's eye, a wave edged before throwing itself between the ships.
All at once, the dark Captain was submerged into the thick waters below. Everything was dark, and no matter how much he tried to breathe, his lungs only continued to suck in water. Izuru almost wanted to cough but he couldn't even do that. No, he needed to swim up. Swimming was something he could do obviously, but staying afloat in this storm would be the tricky part. Clutching his sword in hand, the Captain pulled a smaller knife from his pocket and thrust himself forward, making it a chore to not be swept away. Holding his breath this long wasn't a problem, but it wasn't preferable. Through the dark waters, Izuru could see the man's ship before him, and without a second thought, plunged the blades into the wood, holding himself still. It wasn't like this was going to sink an entire ship, it was thicker than that by a mile.
Well, that was an exaggeration. Pulling out the knife, he rose his arm and sunk it higher into the wood, and then repeated it with the sword until he was scaling the ship. The moment he broke the surface, Izuru gasped for a heavy breath and allowed himself to take a moment to cough the vile water out of his lungs. The relief didn't last long, not when the enraged ocean continued pummeling his body. Shaking the water out of his eyes, Izuru looked to the sky, catching sight of the Captain leaning over the railing, watching him without moving. Was this some sick pleasure for this guy to watch?
Izuru couldn't really feel angry of course, he would do the same if he were that man. It still didn't feel nice though. "Throw me a rope," Izuru demanded, slightly louder than he normally bothered speaking. "Unless you want me to stab you as many times as I'm doing to your precious, pretty boat." As the other Captain didn't speak, he vanished behind the railing.
Was Izuru really just ignored? Just wait until he got up there, making him do all this annoying work just to kill a man. Pulling out his sword again, he was about to stab it into the wood once more before a rope was suddenly dropped beside him, the wind causing it to smack against his body. The Captain didn't waste any time in holding it still and returning the knife to his pockets. So the guy could listen, great to know. His sword would stay out though, he could scale a rope holding a sword no problem, and he did. It didn't take long for Izuru's feet to fall to the deck, and the rope to be thrown back over the side. That wasn't his responsibility to clean up. But the other Captain was nowhere to be seen. Fled in fear? How predictable.
"Nice to meet you!" A voice suddenly called over the storm. Izuru didn't have a chance to look for the source before he was raising his sword to block an attack. The sound of the sword clanging together caused a sharp ring to echo in his ears. Finally, he was getting a good look at this Captain, but it seemed like the other Captain was staring just as deeply at him. White hair, lime eyes, he looked like a ghost or some ill patient. And ever so scrawny, like his muscles were removed just as much as his skin pigment was. Was he a snowman or something?
"You're Captain Izuru Kamukura, right? It was you after all!" The Captain suddenly smiled, green eyes sparkling bright. "I was just guessing but it has to be you!" Izuru had no interest in whatever was happening. He pushed against his sword, throwing the man back. For a moment, it looked like he was about to fall but he quickly caught himself and lowered his sword.
"You're as pretty as a girl," The man's shoulders relaxed. "I'm Nagito Komaeda, and you're as amazing as the stories say." For a second, Izuru didn't know what to respond. What a backhanded compliment calling a man like him a pretty girl. Izuru had long black hair and perfect skin, but unlike all the other pirates across the seas, he was just someone that bothered to take care of himself. "I came here to kill you," Izuru rose his blade. "You invade my ship in this storm, knowing who I am, and assume I wouldn't-" "Oh yes, Hajime Hinata was your predecessor, you're the most famous pirate in the seas after him!" Nagito grinned ear to ear like a foolish child. Izuru, on the other hand, was not amused in the slightest. Narrowing his sharp scarlet eyes, he ran forward and slashed his sword, only barely missing the foolish man who dared to let his guard down.
Nagito's green eyes widened in fear; exactly what the Captain wanted. With another slash, the pale boy ducked and suddenly ran past with an attempt to hurry below deck, but he didn't make it far. Izuru was fast, incredibly fast, and with a quick swoop, his hand was on Nagito's collar before he pulled the man down with a painful thud and placed his foot on the skinny chest.
Nagito's eyes lidded as the rain pelted his face, but it appeared like he was watching Izuru as best he could, his hands pulling at the thick black boots as if that would do something about his situation. "You realize what I'm going to do now, don't you?" The Captain slid the point of the sword beneath Nagito's chin, ever so gently pressing it against his skin.
The man opened his mouth to speak, eyes wide with fear, but as though something suddenly snapped in him, his body relaxed and a short smile plastered upon his face. "It's only fair," He ushered. "I came here to kill you, but I couldn't do it. It's funny, I've killed many pirates now, but I couldn't bring myself to raise my sword to you."
Izuru was silent for a long moment before snorting. "I'm soaking wet and pointing my sword at someone that wouldn't even fight back. Pathetic." With that, the Captain sheathed his sword. "The queen hired you of course. You're not even worth my kill. Go quivering back to her." When Izuru turned his back, Nagito allowed himself to sit up and stare down the powerful pirate. He could be thankful for the storm this once because Izuru Kamukura didn't hear the following words that left Nagito's mouth; "I think I'm in love."
If you've read this far, thank you for giving it a chance. You can continue it on Wattpad or Quotev at ApocalypticAnuyushi or Anuyushi on Ao3.

I have so many please ask me about them they’re all so sad /hj MC/Prefect: Vizzie Castello Blurb: Isekaied from her isolated grove, she isn’t very good at handling her new environment. Prone to violence because of a rough upbringing, she does not trust magic users for the life of her, and NRC just emphasizes that. She has enchanted gauntlets fastened to her, they’ve been there since she was nine, that cover from her wrist to elbow in silver. She keeps the secret that they deflect magic casted at her best she can, so that when the opportunity arises, she can act in what she believes is justice for her father’s death. Truth be told though...the boys here are starting to grow on her....Find Out More
(Art by the incredible Reba )
OC: Aspen Zoi Blurb: The stoner of a half-fae, and gardener of NRC. A graduate of NRC from Pomefiore dorm, and former classmate of Sam’s, he spends his time in the greenhouse tending to the plants. Nobody really knows what his deal is, but he and Lilia seem to know each other...Find Out More
OC, Twisted From Anastasia: Danya Alistrotov Blurb: Danya was a very loving, allbeit shy kid...in the 1920′s. Due to civil unrest in his homeland, his mother, a noble, was well aware that the prodigy with magic that her child was, they would not hesitate to draft him into the army. Before it could happen, she managed to scrounge the cash together to bribe his current headmage, and the one at the renowned NRC so that he would be granted a safe place to study and develop like a normal teenage boy. Separated from his family, he felt responsible when he received the news that his mother had been caught stealing money and had been executed along with his sister. He coped with long walks at night, until someone offered to join him. He didn’t mean to startle...he didn’t mean to hurt them...and he didn’t realize he would also pay with his life... Find Out More
OC, Twisted From Jim Hawkins, Treasure Planet: Tarian Hawkins Blurb: Coming from a family of space pirates, his father found it rather easy to bribe Crowley to allow Tarian to begin his studies two years early, especially as he challenged the math and science exams- and aced them both. He needs practice with his magic, as his late mother was the reason he has it, and his dad has no idea on how to help him with it- but also, some missions are too dangerous to bring him on until he can master it. Tarian works relentlessly, and hopes that if he works hard enough, he can join his dad in the stars sooner rather than later. However this has a poor effect on his social life, which was the other reason his dad sent him to school...Find Out More
OC (based on a Firefish): Cory Reef Blurb: A typically docile and shy Octavinelle freshman, Cory is a fashionista at heart. He’s incredibly cute and he knows it. Doesn’t love it all the time, but he knows it. He intends to pick up as many hobbies as possible that require legs, and his favourite is tap dancing. He tries to avoid most people, but that all goes out the window after he decides to get a Magicam account...and accidentally got Vil Schoenheit’s attention....Find Out More
OC, (based on an anglerfish): Neo Capini Blurb: He hates that he was summoned to NRC. He despises he can’t bring his sister, he hates knowing the situation he left her in, he hates having so many people around, he hates the drama, the noise- thankfully Ignihyde is the least of all evils it seems. He stays locked away in his room, barely passing school, but doing exceedingly well on his passion projects that could very well change the world. Hopefully his main project will be done soon, and he can just keep hoping he can track down his sister ....Find Out More
OCS Twisted From Bruce, Chum and Anchor from Finding Nemo: Bryce Newport, Chad Moslin, and Archie Kevone. (They’re a three for one deal babes) Blurb: Being shark mermen, there’s a lot of stigma and a lot fear- but that’s alright, these three big softies are at NRC to stay, as they support each other like they always have. They are doing their best to prove that they are not inherently dangerous, and have switched to a mostly plant based diet to do so, however the tweels are happy to give them alternatives. Three big dumb idiots that balance each other out perfectly, maybe they’re meant to be more than friends...at least two of them think so...Find Out More Bryce
Chad
Archie
OC, Twisted From Ronno, Bambi: Oisin Byrne Blurb: It’s his third year in Pomefiore, and while he doesn’t enjoy having Rook as vice housewarden, he’s kept his mouth shut and merely pushed through it, However, watching Epel go through many of the same struggles he did, he feels he’s getting closer to his limit everyday. He’s almost done here anyways, and it’s not like his family wants him either, there are really, no consequences in his mind, should he finally snap...Find Out More

After the record with the flag appears so do the Observers and the Actual King Phantom. The content creator is stuck, still recording, as over hundreds of ghosts fill the room and giggle and sneer at the eyeball people.
The king looks smug, and certainly looks like a king. A crown that took the shape of the Aurora Boreals(I fucking love that hc), cape made of stars and lightly flaming hair that melted the wisps of snow coming from the crown, even the people watching the livestream were filled with a sense of respect and wonder, the instinctive need to bow down.
The king, who couldn’t be older than fourteen, smirked and put a hand on his hip. The eyeballs seemed to glare at him. “What’s wrong? I thought you were against the summoning rights law.” The other ghosts in the crowd giggled, and the content creator mustered up enough courage to ask a nearby ghost what he meant.
“Phantoms narly, man!” The girls pupils were peace signs, and she seemed to be smoking her fog-like hair. She was dressed like a hippie from a movie. She took a deep hit from the blunt-shaped object connected to the end of her pony tail and brushed it over her shoulder. She blew out the smoke and made it in the shape of a circle. “We were always, like, being summoned. And like, the Observes had this totally uncool law that we had to like, show up every time. It sucked, man. Even in death we’re oppressed.”
“But like, Phantoms totally one of the youth, and he got the law changed so that we, like, only have to answer if we want to. And now he’s like, pushing for better free education, and we’re able to learn how to, like, feel the vibe of who’s summoning us. So that way, we can know if we want to, like, say no it the summons or not. I’d totally vote for him if we had a democratic system, but we’re more trial by combat kingdom, ya feelin me man?”
Phantom looked smug while the Observers looked as angry as they could being floating eyeballs. “This is ridiculous,” one said, “you’ve purposely changed your summonings to not only spite us—“ Phantom stomped his foot, and it seem that as one, all the ghosts stomped their feet in response. It silenced the Observer. “I changed my summons to show you selfish, narcissistic sociopaths what me and my people, our people, so through every single day!”
He raised his hand, “Who here’s been summoned by someone now only when you were doing something important, but summoned by someone you didn’t want to see again?” The crowed began yelling their stories, the people they hated who had summoned them, the stupid kids who found their obituaries and decided to play a dumb sleepover game, the hippie ghost yelled about how her sister who’d believed she’d been the one to kill her had summoned her to ask for forgiveness.
“It’s rancid!” “Disrespectful!” “Stupid!” “Completely and absolutely unnecessary!” “Stupid fucks that don’t know when to quit—“ Phantom stomped again, and once again the ghosts quieted and stomped back. Phantom gave the Observers a shark toothed grin. “Soooooo,” he floated forward until he was eye to face with the Observer, “do you accept to make the summoning rights law a permanent legal obligation?”
The Observer seemed to scowl, then picked up tape recorder and flag and shoved it into Phantoms chest. “Fine. Just change your summonings.” Phantom gave them a polite smile, turned—
“WE FUCKING WOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNN!!!!!!” Phantom threw his head back and arms up, and the entire crowd of ghost screeched back. Some were howling, chanting ‘Phan-tom, Phan-tom’, while others began throwing things at the Observers. Phantom was acting like he just won a pageant, thanking everyone for their support, saying he couldn’t have done it without them, bowing cheekily and shaking hands.
It, of course, becomes a meme
No Longer In Service
Okay
Okay
hear me out
Ghost King Danny Summoning!
The heroes fail to stop it, everyone is panicking, they feel like they’ve truly failed to stop it. etc etc
EVERYONE is ready to fight for their final life.
They’re as ready as they can be to go against something so evil JLD are scared of it.
SO when the dome that was sealing them away from the summoner finally shatters they are expecting some huge eldritch being, something made of pure nightmares… Only…
Only to find an old tape recorder in the middle of the summoning circle…
Everything is dead silent. No one moves…
Then it clicks on and makes a loud noise.
The noise?
It was the no longer in service beep.
“We’re, not, sorry.” a teenage voice began after the beep ended, startling everyone as they weren’t expecting this at all “But the Ghost King you are trying to reach is no longer in service or rather King anymore. Thus any big evil world ending plans you have made will not be approved during my reign. Please, get a life and try to actually live it because I will not be ending anyone’s or mass genocide anything… Also to the really insane Fruitloop that tried summoning a being with the warning of “will cause the end of your world. I am the Ghost King now, eventually everything and everyone will enter my domain regardless of who, when, how, or why. That is something I can wait for, I got no reason to speed it up…. So have a pleasant day and enjoy being arrested or ended for doing this dumb summoning if you decided to do this in front of like everyone in your world or something… Goodbye!”
The world went silent after that.
That…
None of them were expecting that at all.
#Danny Phantom#DPDC#dp x dc#ghost king danny#Danny may be a king but he’ll always be a little shit#content creator maybe Markiplier? Ryan Bergara and Shane Majde?? Conspiracy streamer Wes Weston??? The possibility’s are endless

There Are Many Advantages
I could hold onto this for a month and use it for JayTim Week. But MerMay is almost over and this is, fundamentally, a product of Tumblr.
Read it on AO3.
—
The thing that got Jason wasn't the uncanny valley near-humanity of the top half, or the row upon row of terrifyingly sharp teeth, or even the solid grasp of the English language. No, all of that kind of took a back seat to the creature's skin.
"It's so smooth," he marveled, running his hand along the surface first one way, then the other. Logically, it shouldn't surprise him so. The creature—mer—T'm wasn't exactly what one might call 'typical marine life.' It made sense that his body parts didn't follow established 'rules.' But it still threw him a bit.
"Only a little smoother than yours," T'm said, dragging webbed fingers along Jason's bare arm, his slightly clammy touch summoning goosebumps. "Well, than yours was," he amended. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you bumpy. Is this an allergic reaction?"
"Uh, no. It's just. I." Jason swallowed, trying to organize his thoughts before he blurted out something ridiculous like 'I'm sensitive to being touched by gorgeous men.' T'm wasn't a man, after all—hell, his species might not even have sexes, let alone sexual dimorphism. "See the little hairs growing on my skin? They gather information and send messages to my brain about the world around me. Sometimes the skin around them reacts as well, to help me notice faster. The bumps are an involuntary response to unexpected stimuli, like touch or a change in temperature."
Transparent membranes nictated across one of the mer's eyes, then the other. "Fascinating. Now, explain to me why my skin being smooth is so interesting."
"Well, several of your physiological characteristics are similar to those of sharks—lack of swim bladder, multiple rows of teeth that replace each other over time, cartilaginous skeleton, the fin shape and placement, in particular the heterocercal caudal fin… But sharks have placoid—tooth-like—scales that feel smooth when stroked in one direction, but rough and 'biting' when stroked in the opposite direction," Jason explains, technical terms slipping in even as he tries to keep his explanation simple.
T'm nodded thoughtfully, though that might have been the movement of the water most of his body was still immersed in, only his upper torso propped on the edge of the raft. "My species does share many characteristics with them, I suppose. But recall that we originate from another star system and are thus apart from the evolutionary chains found among Terran species."
"Right! Right. Sorry, still wrapping my head around the idea that an entire society of people live under the waves. Might take me a bit longer to really grasp the alien aspect—we have myths and legends of mers, but none of them include extraterrestrial origins." Well, outside the fringe theories cryptozoologists occasionally floated and only supermarket tabloids were interested in publishing.
"To be fair, we've been on this planet for long enough that we actually lost that part of our history and only recently rediscovered it," T'm consoled him. "I just know a bit more than most because my parents were particularly keen on archeology. As it is, our cultures are more similar to nearby human ones than to anything our ancient spacefaring ancestors might have practiced."
Anthropology was far from Jason's area of study, but he supposed that could be interesting to those who were interested in such things. "Well, that certainly explains your mastery of English."
"Eh, I mostly learned it to follow television shows," T'm admitted, flapping a hand dismissively. "But it's a useful skill and allows me to keep up with scientific advancements, though it was pretty hard to read journals in a marine environment. Electronic publications have been a boon."
"Is terrestrial biology a popular area of study down below?"
"Not really. Land makes up less than forty percent of the planet's surface and even smaller percentage of the living space. I'm considered a bit of an eccentric, but that's something of a family tradition at this point." Gripping the edge of the raft, T'm pulled himself farther onto the deck.
"Uh. You okay there?" Jason gulped, his fight-or-flight response warring with other parts of him that were still all too aware of how attractive he found T'm's more humanoid features.
T'm's pale cheeks were quickly turning a bright blue that perfectly complimented his eyes. A part of Jason wondered if they would radiate heat if he held his hand up to them. He had yet to determine if T’m's species was homeothermic or poikilothermic. "Like I said, I've mostly learned about humanity from television, so I may be reading the situation wrong, but. I, ah. I find our conversations exciting and you and your ideas very interesting and attractive and I swear this isn't because I think you're exotic or that you represent an opportunity for me advance the entire field of terrestrial biology or—"
"Me too," Jason blurted out, his own cheeks very definitely betraying his own homeothermic nature. "I mean, I think you're very interesting and attractive also. As a fellow sentient lifeform. Person. You know."
T'm smiled at him and shifted his weight to one hand so he could rest the other on Jason's. "I know this is going to be difficult to work out, but I'd like to at least try?"
Turning his hand over, Jason squeezed the webbed one encouragingly as he returned the smile. "I'd like that too. Though I have no idea how we're going to manage dates when I can't breathe underwater and you don't have any real way of moving on land."

Chapter 0ne
“And so it begins”
Katsuki B. X Reader
Rated M
Warnings: Gaslighting, manipulation, power play, light degradation
The day before the two of you left for UA; Your best friend gave her word to your mother that she would always look after you. Now that the two of you are in your third year she’s officially FED UP with your attitude and childish antics. Mentioning her dilemma to your shared group of friends results in the most unlikely person offering to be her solution to the problem that is YOU.
A/N: The girl in the banner is NOT how the reader is “supposed” to look, it was just a drawing I did specifically for this. You look however you want to, I don’t really make any specific references to your appearance in this story.
🌅
Its Saturday morning; Ive been awake for about five minutes now, but I’m not ready to open my eyes and embrace the conscious world just yet. Hearing the door of my room unlock and open does the trick though. Only one person (other than myself of course) has a key to my dorm room.
“I made breakfast for the both of us, its your favorite” announces Euphie as she walks in, kicking the door shut behind her. I sit up, just as she’s pushing my black out curtains to the side I let out a hiss of disdain as sunlight immediately begins to permeate the room.
“Thank you Euphie” I say with a yawn.
She hands me a plate before settling down on my bed, acknowledging my thanks with a nod as we both tuck in.
“We have plans this afternoon, can you be ready by at least 12:30? No need to get super made up but at least out of your pajamas?” Euphies voice is gentle, but I catch the underlying “I’m not asking, but telling you” vibe she tries to hide.
“For sure”
She smiles at my seemingly agreeable mood so early in the morning and we easily segway into our standard start of the day discussions. “Are we um…Are we going to be busy all day? I….I kinda planned on going to hangout with-“ Euphie cuts me off as she picks up our plates: “No worries you’ll have plenty of time for that, I promise!” Giving me a wink before shutting my door.
She didn’t even know who I was referring to, or what I was going to say….
At 12:55 Euphie reappears to rush me out of my room.
“Hey I forgot my purse I-“
“Don’t need it”
“But my wallet is-“
“Not necessary”
Her tone is clipped, and she has a death grip on my wrist as she quite literally drags me down the hallway. Initially I was taken aback, not being used to receiving this type of treatment from her. My bearings have started returning along with growing frustration each time one of my questions are receiving one word answers, or met with a complete dismissal. Reaching my limit I fail to notice that she’d began to slow down, and I’m wrenching my wrist free of her grip at the exact same time she’d come to a stop.
“What in the fuck is your problem?! You told me that we had plans to go out this afternoon, and you’d treat me to whatever I want!
This-“ I’m interrupted again.
“I certainly wouldn’t do anything for a fuckin’ brat throwing a tantrum like this”
My eyes snap to the side where I see the irritated scowl of one Katsuki Bakugou, as he leans against his door frame glowering at me. Embarrassment further fuels my anger as I turn toward him, pointing an acusatory finger as I begin “No one fucking asked you, stay out of it Katsu-“.
Kirishima suddenly emerges from Bakugo’s room, giving Euphie an enthusastic greeting
“Hey there! You look nice, ready to head out?”. The red head is flashing his signature shark toothed grip at my best friend as he offers her his arm. “You know it” she giggles, taking hold of his muscular bicep. The two of them start to walk off, confused and furious I start to head after them, but a large hand grips my shoulder grounding me in place.
“Bakugo told me he wouldn’t mind keeping an eye on you while Kiri and I went out this afternoon, this way you’ll stay out of trouble and get to keep the plans you’d made with him, bye!” The closing elevator doors add a sudden finalization to her brief explanation.
“Plans?” Bakugo questions while uncermoniously yanking me backwards.
I stumble back, falling through the doorway and landing flat on my ass in front of the now closed door (Which he is standing in front of). Glaring up at him as he continues: “She must have me confused with the local brothel, because thats the only place I’d imagine wearing a skirt as short as that would be deemed appropriate”. His insult doesn’t deter his crimson eyes from roaming the length of my body, lingering on the aforementioned skirt. Getting to my feet, he walks around me and move towards his desk, taking a seat behind it.
“Oh fuck you Katsuki, you can be a real dick sometimes, I dunno what stupid Euphie told you about keeping and eye on me, but I dont need a fucking baby sitter! So ill be off now” with a huff you turn towards the door. “________, I’m not in the mood for bullshit today so just sit down and shut up” he growls, not turning to look at you. He always feels embarrassingly giddy when you adress him by his first name, thats why he insisted you call him by it. That in itself should be an indication of how he seems to favor you.
It makes him almost feel a bit guilty for using a harsh tone when he’d spoken to you. Despite how he treats others, Katsuki is hardly ever outright mean to you; He’s never even given you a derogatory nickname like he has for everyone else. Today’s an off day though…He’s just not used to running on little to no sleep. That paired with his already non existent level of patience makes for a blow up. Especially when YOU were the cause of his latest bout of insomnia….turning to look at you has his thoughts beginning to wander.
Those lips of yours flapping away as you berate him…
They sure would look a helluva lot better wrapped around his-
“-Not even fucking listening to me are you?!” You snarl, starting towards the door again. “I cant believe I woke up this morning wanting to hangout with YOU, guess I’ll change my plans and hangout with someone not so shitty to me…. Like Deku!” A loud crash comes from behind you. The now enraged man had stood up so abruptly, it sent his now vacated chair careening into the wall and toppling over.
“You really just cant help yourself can you?”
His voice is so eerily quiet as he turns to face you, something unidentifiable flashes in his rapidly darkening crimson orbs. You couldn’t exactly identify it, considering it disappeared as abruptly as it had originally came.
“Course you cant, I already know that”
A menacing smile appears on his face as he takes his first step toward you, immediately triggering your natural “Fight or flight” response.
“I know what you need”
He’s only an arms length away when you start to step back.
“You dont know shit”
You somehow summon the courage to speak, but are unable to summon any false bravado to keep you from betraying how unnerved he’s got you feeling as he takes another step.
“I know that your best friend cant stand what a spoiled fuckin’ brat you’ve become, I know she’s so fed up with your shit that she’s about to write you off completely”
The defiant expression you’d worn all this time finally starts to falter.
This marks the first time Katsuki has ever seen how you look when your confidence begins to ebb away, only to be replaced with a mixture of uncertainty and fear.
His sadistic side emerges with glee as your now saddened doe eyes meet his.
“You’re constantly disregarding everyone’s opinion of you unless it aligns with your own, but you dont even know what to think of yourself now that your faced with the possibility of being alone now…do you?
You remain silent, taking yet another step back as he continues speaking.
“You need someone who isn’t afraid to correct you, but they’ll have to of earned your respect….So when you inevitably step out of line, you wont put up a fight when you get put over their knee”
Your back hits the wall.
You swallow down the panic that slowly begun to rise from your chest up into your throat as you realize there is nowhere left for you to go.
“You desperately want to be a good girl, just dont know how to be one, huh princess?”
It’s so adorable the way your bottom lip juts out, but at the first quiver it quickly gets sucked between your teeth.
“That’s why you’re acting out right now isn’t it?
I bet you drench your cute little panties every time you get a rise out of me. Always hoping that its going to be the time I yank you the fuck up and put this brat in her goddamn place, hah?”
You shamelessly lean into the large hand thats now cupping your cheek, letting out a sigh as his thumb caresses your soft skin.
“Mhmmm”
It’s horrifying how easily you just admitted your most guarded secret! The triumphant smirk he sports makes it even harder to accept.
His tone is surprisingly gentle when he starts addressing you once again;
“I can do that for you baby….Let me be the one that finally brings the princess down on her knees”.
Your eyes are practically sparkling at the feel of a sudden pressure being applied to your throat. His calloused fingers squeezing the delicate skin of your neck, effectively making it harder and harder for you to breathe. The thrill of this foreign feeling is instantly addicting.
“Tell me if thats what you want: If its not then shake your head and we never speak of this again”
Bakugo has to at least give the illusion that you have a choice in the matter. Even though its more than obvious that you need want this just as much as he does.
“I want it, I want you” your words come out in a breathy whisper as he releases his hold on your throat.
“I wanna hear you say it princess, what do you want me to do with you”
“I want…no I NEED you to….t-to make me into your good girl please…”
He gestures for you to continue, his raised brow implying you must be forgetting something.
“Please make me into your good girl….Daddy”
The pleading expression and twinge of desperation in your voice stirs something deep inside Bakugo. It was something akin to the last vestiges of some ancient seal had disappeared: The monster that it had rendered dormant had finally roused from its slumber, intent on wreaking havoc.
“You do understand that you’re mine now right ________? Every part of your being belongs solely to me”
Gorgeous ruby eyes scrutinize your face carefully, searching for a single trace of fear, uncertainty, or possible apprehension. All they found was admiration and girlish excitement, and this earned you a genuine smile from the almost always scowling young man.
“Yes, every part of me belongs to you now Katsuki”
“Better get used to this then”
Before you could inquire what he was referring to, he was kissing you.
❤️🔥

“She died through my hands.”
That sentence replayed over and over in your head, forming a continuous loop as you silently formed those words with your own lips.
“It’s not him!” you called out to yourself, since your reason had seemingly disappeared ever since you first saw the person that was a perfect copy of the man you once loved.
You were rolling around on the bare floor, shivering as you softly punched your head to not get lost in thought again. The emperor didn’t even have the basic decency to give you any clothes back, only having the Citauri throw you into an old dungeon to keep you prisoner - or whatever he’d plan to do with you.
That man was so different of your Loki.
And the timeline both of you were currently in had exceeded your worst expectations, making you wonder if fate just wanted to torment you.
In this universe, Thanos never even got so far as to collect all of the Infinity Stones. Loki Laufeyson had won the battle of New York and took over this world, then somehow double-crossed and killed the Titan. So right now, he possessed the power of the Tesseract, as well as the Cascet of Ancient Winters. For what reason he kept that Jotun relic was unknown, probably out of nostalgic sentiment you assumed.
Afterwards, the God of Mischief had killed his brother Thor in bad blood, as well as torturing Natasha - the exact way he threatened her back in your world, when he was in his cell. Clint was still his servant, as it seemed. You had seen him when they took you to his cell.
He couldn’t get rid of all the Avengers, however - even though their current location was unknown. They were in hiding for many years now, probably trying to get their hands on the other Infinity Stones.
Also noticeable was the fact that this universe had neither Hela, nor Captain Marvel - so one good and one bad thing to compensate for each other. Not that they’d be a match for Loki in his current form anyway...
And there was no Dr. Strange on this version of Earth, your last bit hope to escape disappearing as you learned about this fact.
That much was all you had learned by now, mainly through tricking and manipulating some of your guards into giving you information.
All in all, you only knew for sure was that this world’s Loki was a terribly trong, murderous sociopath, intoxicated by power and loneliness.
And you had become the focus of the little emotion left in him.
It was hard trying to surpress all the voices and memory submerging in your mind. So there was nothing left for you except for rolling up into a ball, lying on the cold floor as you prepared to be washed over with sadness and guilt once again.
_____
“Would you help me recieve the greatest honor by becoming mine and mine only, Lady Y/N?”
How could you ever forget this moment?
Back on the Asgardian refugee ship, your Loki had asked you that very question, now popping up in your mind once again.
Every detail was still as bright as daylight, preserved deep into your heart.
You clearly remembered the small, green box he had summoned out of thin air, presenting you a plain but still incredibly beautiful ring. The golden piece of jewlery formed a snake eating itself - a symbol of infinity and wholeness.
It was just his way of being thoughtful.
“I-I prepared this a while go, to be precize...but I never thought of being worthy” he had stammered and you found yourself speechless, admiring that very scene playing in front of your eyes. “A-Anyway, after all that happened, I realized that all moments I spent happy, were when I was with you. I don’t want to lose you again, Y/N! And I feared, well...that it might be too late to ask someday.”
It was most unjust that this most blissful moment would be interrupted by a great rumbling shaking through the whole spaceship - and even before Thor would crash Loki’s proposal, both of you were aware just what kind of danger you would have to face soon:
Thanos.
Your numbers had already been decimated by Ragnarok, all that’s left being some civilian refugees, injured and traumatized. The only ones capable of fighting left were Loki, Thor, Heimdall, you and the Hulk.
Yet all of your struggles were to no avail, only able to watch and scream and bag at the Titan, so he’d at least spare those innocent lives as he mercilessly slaughtered woman and children alike.
“Fucking monster!” Pulling out a gun, your mind went completely blank as you gave it some last, desperate attempt to save or avenge just anyone.
No bullet would even come close enough to pierce his skin, as Ebony Maw would deflect them to hit yourself and people close to you. “I’m not the only one you should see responsible for this outcome” Thanos scoffed.
“What do you mea-” Your voice got swallowed by a pained groan as you saw Loki, kneeling in front of Thanos and revealing the one thing he was after:
The Tesseract.
“You......took it?!?” The only thing managing to escape your throat was a high-pitched yell as Loki’s face contorted in disappointment and regret - just now realizing that he had put you all in danger.
They would’ve never went after you if it wasn’t for him. He had doomed his race, failed you and what was left of his family.
“How could you put us all in danger?! I thought you had changed! You swore it with your life, Loki! That you loved me more than you desired power!”
No answer.
Instead, the god would prepare one of his speeches, directing words of undying fidelity at Thanos and his arms. And even though it was meant to be lies, a play to make the threat feel save, every single word hit your heart like knives.
“How could I ever marry someone like you?!” feeling as if Loki most recent, selfish act was suffocating you, you could only whisper - yet he understood very clearly, the facade dropping in an instant. “I-I hate you...traitor...”
If only you knew that those would be the last words you’d ever direct at him...
Loki materializes a dagger, desperately trying to make up for his biggest mistake yet, and at least save you, the light of his cursed existence, and the only thing he had ever done in his life full of wrongs.
But Thanos looked right through the charade from the very beginning, using the stones to trap Loki in their hold - and then, grabbing the god’s throat.
“You have what you want, Thanos!” Thor tried to bargain, “There’s even less than half of my race left. Please, just let us go!”
“Oh, I will” he spoke stony, then shifting his attention to the god in his hands. “But first, I’ll do you a favor and erase that disgraceful pest all of you were too weak to take care of.”
As he was struggling for air, gasping uncontrollably as he tried to free his neck from the Giant, Loki’s glare wandered to you - and when your eyes met, both of your hearts skipped a beat.
He smiled. In the face of death, the last thing he wanted you to remember was the good things after all.
And seeing the ring on your finger, how couldn’t he? Loki knew you were about to say yes - and knowing this was more than enough for someone like him.
After all, the God of Mischief was used to happiness being taken away from him as soon as he thought it to be okay to open up to someone.
But you were safe. That’s all that counted for him!
It was like his eyes were telling you “It’s gonna be alright. I’m sorry, Y/N...I love you.”
You don’t remember much after that, having a mental breakdown as you had to watch the love of your life perish - and forever thinking about how you had turned him down just seconds before.
A part of you had died with him back then.
_____
The creaking sound of the cell’s door made you jump from your dream - but the person which entered was one you had never seen before.
A monster.
It’s silhouette very much resembled Loki, yet his skin was painted in a dark shade of blue, with thin linings carved across his whole body. He had fangs and even horns coming out of his temple to add at that.
The beast’s eyes were shining in a threatening red, glistering contrastful in the dark hallway. But the worst were those black irises, absent of any form of compassion - there seemed to be only rage, confusion and hate.
“Fuck!” you screamed, terrified and fearing for your life. Shuffling until your back hit the wall of a corner of the room, you defendingly put your arms in front of yourself. “Go away! Don’t to-ouch me!”
Loki cleared his voice as he put the Casket away, not making any efforts to revert his outer appearance back to ‘normal’. He had admired it on his way to your cell, like he’d do many times a day when he was reminiscing about the day he learned about his heritage...
...and how he had killed Odin, his adoptive father, with that very relic, afterwards clearing the universe of that despiseful race of the Jotunn - making him the last of his kind.
“Oh my” a dark voice finally declared, “Seems like ‘your’ Loki never dared to show you his true form. Pathetic.”
No, that wasn’t completely true. Your lover had at least told you back then. But when did you ever have the time to talk things over and heal, being dragged from one fight to another?!
The Jotunn felt great joy as he towered over you, gleefully watching your naked body cowering to his knees, covered in goosebumps and shaking heavily. Your breath was clearly visible while you tried to cover your shame as best as you could, wary glare never leaving the abomination that was just lurking right in front of you.
“Wha- OUCH!” you hissed as the Frost Giant took ahold of your wrist, monitoring the pain spreading across your face as his touch would frostburn any skin he was touching with ease.
Loki grinned menacingly as he let go off of you, admiring his handywork as the first layer of your skin had already died, crumbling away to reveal your pink flesh.
“Oh, how I missed that” he explained, much to your surprise ripping a piece of his own clothing apart to cover the wound with it. “Your kind is so easily broken. It’s always fascinating to watch.”
“Just kill me already, you freak!”
Well, Loki had in fact spent hours after hours thinking about how to handle you, and yet he couldn’t decide. Obviously he would’ve killed you right away if it was otherwise, but he still had a soft spot for you somewhere deep in his heart, after all.
And it upset him more than he’d ever admit. So he tried to assert his dominance, to ease the feeling of weakness and loss of control.
“I’m only doing you a favor, woman.” The god would touch your cheek, making you flinch away - but this time, it wouldn’t hurt. Never would he dare to scar this most beautiful face!
“The man you loved was just the same as me, yet it seemed he wasn’t completely honest with you. What you are seeing right now is the form of a Frost Giant...the monstrosity you chose to love.”
“L-Loki…”
It was no surprise that he saw tears filling the rim of your eyes - yet out of a whim, you pulled your arms around his neck, tears wetting his robe. He gasped, unable to act in any way as he stiffened in the pose.
That was by far not the reaction he had been expecting - and he surprised you as well. You had thought him to instantly shove you away, beat you agaib or even bite - but he just kneeled there, not daring to make a move.
"Why?” Now his voice was much softer, pained even. “I’m a monster. I hurt you. So why?”
“I’m so sorry” you whimpered, words being interrupted by heavy sobbing. “I try to fight it, I really do. But I just can’t, I-I”
“Aren’t you afraid?”
“How could I be? It’s you, Loki...no matter what you look like.” Eventually, you’d face him again, wiping the tears out of your face when for another moment, you made yourself forget that this was a completely different person. “I was just surprised, that’s all. Letting me see this form out of nowhere...”
“Y/N, I’m not the same as him” he retorted, knowing very well what it’s like to lose oneself in daydreams and illusions to ease the pain of loss. His sight wandered around the room instead of your face, stating “I did horrendous things, dear. Tormented and killed countless. It’s unforgiveable.”
“So did he” you stated, even though you knew those two Loki’s couldn’t be compared. “And you should already know: I feel dead inside, ever since he died.”
“You really loved him, didn’t you?” When you nodded confidently, Loki sighed ashamed, reluctantly touching your wrist again. A warm magic would flow through you, healing the wound in no time. “I wish she had felt the same for me...”
For a while, both of you were plainly sitting in uncomfortable silence, with Loki even lending you his cloak to warm yourself up.
“It’s not him” you told yourself once again. “It’s not him. It’s not him. IT’S NOT HIM!!! That man is dangerous and instable. He can’t be trusted!”
And then, finally, you dared asking, cutting through the thick air:
“What exactly happened to me, in this world?”
Loki’s face contorted in agony, rubbing his face as if in deep pain. “Is this really necessary? I already told you. She died because of me.”
“More details would be nice” you retorted bluntly, not really caring if he was to have a violent outburst again. Curiosity got the better of you at that moment.
The emperor’s voice was low and husky, and just now you realized how damn tired he looked - with dark rings under his eyes, and more pale than you had ever remembered him.
The weight of his sins sure had taken a stroll on that sensitive man.
"I saw the ring” he uttered deeply affected, “That’s something I could only dream of. Thinking about it, I think she never really loved me in the first place. Or maybe she just grew tired of my lies. Understandable, I have to admit...”
“Yes, it was quite the opposite, even” he continued after a long, strained breath of his. “She hated me. Joined the Avengers and tried to kill me, several times. Only years later I learned about the truth: Already far in the past, back on Asgard, she betrayed me. After I fell off the Bifrost, she thought myself dead - and consoled herself by bedding my brother. I had to kill him, I-I-I just had to!”
Loki’s hands were shaking so frantically you could feel it from over there, mad eyes darting over your physique to take in your reaction. “After they finally lost, I took her prisoner. Seven months of trying to make her mine, no matter the methods. Mind-controlling her would not be satisfying. So I tortured her, played games with her sanity, and- I’d rather not speak about how else I violated her.”
“You, wha-” Now you were the one shivering in horrid anticipation, “You raped me...?”
No answer. Instead he just finished this disastrous story.
“One day, I went to her cell like I always did. I hoped once her mind was broken she’d stop struggling to be mine. But she never did. You Y/N’s are quite the fighters, as it seems.”
“Wha- wwhat happened to me...I mean, ‘her’?”
A loud whine escaped his vocal cords as he hit the wall right next to your face, making you suck in a pained breath.
“She used her chains to hang herself. There was nothing I could do. Ever since then I knew I’m cursed to inflict pain on anything I hold dear.”
"D-Don’t give me that self-pitying bullshit” you wanted to shout at his face - but the cramping in your heart as well as the hyperventillation made talking impossible.
How could one do something like that to a person they claimed to love?!
“Go” you whimpered, already shuffling away from him and he could hear anguish and fear drop out of every vocal, and he realized you were having a panic attack. “Please!”
Loki closed his eyes, letting out one last, deep sigh. He knew he owed you that much.
“Very well.”
That whole night, you spent crying and screaming to your hearts avail, unable to process your current situation and newfound knowledge.
So that would be your life from now on? Being hurt mentally and physically, frostburnt and hurt and violated against your will - all while looking at a face that remembered you of happier days?
Never!
Things were just like that evil Loki said: You are a fighter!
And if you couldn’t help that crazy man, you would at least help yourself! The Avengers are still out there, somewhere. You needed to escape and help them!
How could you have been so blind all those years?
Loki - your Loki - would have never wanted to you give up. He’d want you to survive and live your life to it’s fullest, trying to make the best out of everything you’ve got.
Just like he always did. That much you had learned from him.
“I’m sorry, Loki. If I die, I can’t even remember you...I love you…”
Breaking out succeeded faster than you could ever think it would take - because when you’d finally get out of your fetal courl and wandered across the cell, you realized Loki didn’t properly close the heavy steel door back when he rushed away from you.
“It’s not him. There’s no helping that man. I have to find my friends, I-”
Still shocked and scared and traumatized, you didn’t even realize that someone was watching you, not even questioning that the hallways were oddly empty.
You sneaked out of an open window, bare feet feeling the morning dew as you shook away Lokis cloak and ran as fast as your feet could carry you.
There was it - the fence.
No one could tell you what kind of world would await you outside of that property as you swiftly avoided some guards, rushing through the all so beautiful garden.
But as soon as you reached out to climb the railing, you felt someone balling a fist in your hair, harshly holding you back and causing you to stumble and fall.
“I thought you to be different…” an all too familiar voice grumbled. Loki didn’t even want to hear any apology or excuse, kicking your guts so heavily that you had to throw up, cramping on the ground.
“Don’t you dare to run away ever again!” he now yelled furiously, "She tried it too...so damn.many.times…!”
But before you could even respond, he suddenly began to cry uncontrollably. “I thought you would stay. Do you think I like to do this?!”
His voice was laced with grief and regret, yet he kept on forming countless bruises on your body. “Why can’t you fucking love me, hel?!”
You didn’t know how long his violent crying fit lasted, with him weeping as he let off some steam on your helpless self.
There was no trace of the hurt, regretful man left you talked to in your cell earlier. After being finished, having reclaimed a fraction of composure, Loki pressed your face in between his hands, ripping on your mangled body to face him.
“Fate gifted me another chance to possess you, Y/N. And I will form you into a magnificent pet, I promise.”

I love you
First I love yous...do I need to say more? Anyway, please don’t hesitate to reach out for anything, whether that be comments, requests, feedback or just to have a chat! Happy reading xx
It’s been three days of utter pandemonium ripping through your brain in complete disarray. Three days of pent up stress storming through your mind as you ran like a headless chicken to try and find a handle on a situation that frankly, you didn’t give a rat’s ass about.
It all started when your boss had called you in his office, his signature tyrant-resting face on, solid frown drafting his features in a look of severity. Well, this can’t be good, you’d immediately thought once you took a hesitant seat across his desk. You’d hoped for a benign reason behind the sudden meeting, and that the scowl on his face was merely a residual of some other trouble that had absolutely nothing to do with you.
Your prayers had fallen on deaf ears however, as the summoning proved to be a twenty minutes angry diatribe about how one of your most recent client had expressed their wish to withdraw from their deal and de facto, the company. Though it hadn’t been your fault per se, your boss didn’t have any reservations about reminding you of your supposed responsibility to keep your clients sated and on the company’s leash. He’d given you three days to fix it after that. Three days to persuade the client not to pull out of the deal, or you risked some serious downgrading if not redundancy.
You’d called Harry for support the minute you got home and spent the whole evening brainstorming the craziest ideas to him. He’d listened patiently, holding your hand on the table as you both indulged in the Thai take-out he’d picked up on his way over. That first night, you’d barely slept as you laid in his strong arms, back to his chest. Your reeling mind had still been trying to conjure up any sort of plan that would help you out of this chaos; but for each switch of the glowing red digits on your alarm clock, your hopes had dwindled some.
You hadn’t known then, but Harry couldn’t find rest either as he spooned you against him. You two hadn’t been dating long, several months at best, but already your distress was unbearable to him and every bone in his body ached to do something to help you. This feeling of powerlessness was crawling out of his skin and swimming around like a shark amidst his prevalent thoughts of support, admiration and love. Because, while he’d shown you the first and conveyed the second countless times in the past, the third had yet to tumble out of his lips, despite the confession burning their flesh a bit stronger every day.
What really had had his mind reeling though, was knowing that maybe, just maybe, he had the power to make this situation go away; and for each switch of the glowing red digits on your alarm clock, his hopes grew some.
Your earlier utterance of the client’s name had been ringing through his mind in faint recognition, an itch starting to fester at his fingertips. Dialing a phone number was all it could take. A couple choice words and if he played his cards right, the deal would be back on the table. He’d known interfering was arguably a bad idea, and truthfully he’d always made a point of honor not to use his connections to serve ulterior motives (his or anyone else’s), but how was he supposed to do nothing when the person that caused you trouble was in fact a friend of a friend that might reevaluate their stance if he pitched in with a bit of charm and compelling words? How was he supposed to stay idle, watch you dissolve in an anxious mess, if he wasn’t as powerless as he thought?
So he didn’t.
He’d originally planned on keeping you in the loop, but you’d been gone by the time his forest green eyes had fluttered back to consciousness the next morning. After a quick shower, a large mug of the coffee you’d left for him before running back to work, and locking your apartment with the spare key you’d given him a couple weeks back, he’d pulled out his phone. Two minutes was all it took for his friend to pass him your client’s number and without hesitation, he’d launched the call and brought his phone to his ear.
It took a bit longer than a couple of minutes for that conversation to take effect, but eventually his words hit their target. After all, his lovely nature could pierce through the most robust walls and stubborn minds. He didn’t even have to put on the charm that much, instead drawing earnest sentiments about your impeccable skills and rambling about how there was no better person to keep their account safe in the business. He’d gnawed at his lips the whole time, desperate to pull through but still scared to fail you somehow. You’d already been let down by the client and your boss, you certainly didn’t need your boyfriend added to the list.
The call had ended with their promise to reassess and consider your undeniable abilities in the equation, yet the next day you were once again convoked to your boss’ office with a snarly bark of your name. Puzzlement washed over you as you speed-walked after him. Why was he still so resentful with you when you’d gotten the client to reenter the contract?
Another twenty minutes of intense scolding provided you with that answer. With a disdainful gaze puncturing your poise, your boss told you that while your job was no longer on the line, you’d been given a firm warning about using your boyfriend as negotiator for the company’s dealings.
How he knew when you yourself weren’t aware of the fact, you didn’t know. In retrospect, your talk with the client had been suspiciously easy for someone who’d made their will to ditch the company crystal clear. You’d merely laid out your arguments, expecting resistance and some pushing, but were only met with a squinted look and cautious acceptance. Now you know your case had already been pleaded once, by the man who was taking more and more space for himself inside the chambers of your heart.
You didn’t quite know how to feel about it; didn’t know if you should be mad or grateful. You were specifically stunned because you knew it was out of character for Harry. Your boyfriend was the most generous being you’d ever met, but humility was even more so a prevailing layer of his beautiful nature. You certainly didn’t expect it, didn’t wish for it to happen again because you were always adamant not to ever use anyone for their assets. Yet there was a tingling, a mixture of discomfort and gratefulness, sloshing in the pit of your stomach.
This whole thing was a mind-fuckery of emotions you were too tired to process.
What you did feel though, was the pure frustration at your boss’ hypocrisy. You both knew he didn’t really care how you’d gotten the deal back, just that you did, but his intolerable disposition wouldn’t allow him to applaud your efforts and move on.
Wanting to put this all mess behind you, you bit back the retorts that you craved to force down his throat, simply nodded through his chastising charade, and leaped to your feet as soon as the dismissing words left his stupid trap.
Now that you’re making your way inside your home, your nose is hit by a waft of delicious aromas traveling from the kitchen. Your mind is still fuzzy with every trouble and startling revelation that transpired in the past three days, but as your eyes settle on your apron-clad boyfriend, you take a moment to appreciate the sight of his soft figure stirring the content of what must be a pan on the gas. His back is facing you, but you can hear the gentle humming under his breath, as he hasn’t registered your arrival yet.
After another minute of whistling, he finally twists around and his eyes almost pop out of their socket when they find your timid stance a couple feet away. "Jesus, pet, didn’t know you were home yet," he chuckles softly before taking in your somewhat moony features. Your expression is hard to pinpoint, your delicate traits blank of any emotions yet your eyes have the same sparkle that greets him every morning and every night when he pulls you for a deep kiss in his warm embrace. "Everythin’ okay, love?"
The query snaps you out of your semblance of trance, your head looking down to the floor to gather your wits before you level your gaze back to his. "Yeah it is. Umm, my boss called me in again today," your bite your lip, not knowing how to navigate the conversation. In all honesty, you just want to be done with the whole thing, would rather spend an evening full of cuddles and potentially mind-blowing sex, but you know this ought to be acknowledged.
"Oh," his brows pull together with the same confusion you’d experienced when your boss ushered you to his office. "Did he thank you for the big save?"
"Not exactly," you clear your throat bracing yourself and Harry’s face tenses at the realization about where this is going. "My job is safe and I’m still working on the account," hie loosens up in relief, but your next words have him stiffen right back up in alarm. "But I got a warning for a certain someone’s involvement in the company’s operations. Apparently, my boyfriend called the client on my behalf and forgot to clue me in…"
Your voice is calm and doesn’t carry any reproachful tone, but Harry’s pulse is suddenly speeding with dread regardless. The fact that he could have lost you your jobs is the only thing registering in his frenzied mind, as he sets the dish towel from his shoulder down on the counter and steps closer to you. His eyes are bouncing off yours in a frantic back and forth, as he gulps his remorse down. Before you can appease him with reassuring words, and show your lack of anger, he launches in an apologetic rant, enclosing both your hands between his palms.
"M’so sorry, love. I didn’t mean to put you in a bad position. Fuck I just- I kept thinkin’ I could help since your client was a friend of a friend. And, the more I thought about it, the more I kept thinking 'I can’t do nothin’. Cause I hate seein’ you in pain an’ I really want to be here fo’ you and I know this was probably the wrong way to go about it, but damn y/n, I couldn’t stand doin’ nothing, m’sorry-"
"I love you."
The words come fast but distinct, airy but firm, not an ounce of doubt laced through their utterance. An eerie silence permeate the small space surrounding them, as Harry tries to find his own words back. It took three of them to steal all of his, but in his defense they were the ones he’d been dying to hear and to deliver himself. His eyes are wide, blinking in total surprise. He’d expected irritation, disappointment perhaps, maybe even anger, but definitely not the sweetest words he’s been keeping at the forefront of his mind. "I- you do?"
You still have that wondrous look on your face, but this time a bright smile enlivens your features, "I really do." You take your hands out of his grip to hold onto his wrists and pull him closer to you. You have to look up since he towers over you but you’ve always liked that about your relationship; the way he always seems to dwarf you in his embraces, whether because of his height or his bear-paw hands. "I mean, don’t that again," you let out a soft laugh, "but I know why you did it, and I love you for it."
Harry smiles rivals your own now, as your hands smooth up his arms to clasp at the nape of his neck, "plus, my boss is a jerk anyway so, who cares?" You pull him in a loving kiss then and his arms wrap themselves around your shoulders in a tight lock. His lips are as soft as ever between your own, and you detect the faintest taste of pepper and other exotic herbs lingering on their edge, from his cooking endeavors. He’s always been one to have a taste or two while he’s working, whether that be in the kitchen or other rooms…and regardless, you always like it when you get your share from his supple lips.
He feels slightly distracted against your mouth though, his technique not as ravishing as it usually is. and before you can wonder why, he’s pulling an inch away from your swollen lips, hurriedly whispering your tender confession back to you as though the words couldn’t be out of his mouth and into your heart fast enough, "I love you too, pet. So much." His hands are cajoling your face, thumbs drawing soothing circles across your cheeks, and his beaming smile is melting your heart in a goo of pleasure after all the strain it suffered in the past couple of days.
"Fuck, c’mere, don’t ever wanna stop kissing you," Harry mutters against your lips before diving in for a real mind-bending, soul-shaking, tantalizing kiss this time. Just like that, all your worries and sorrow evaporate into thin air, only to be replaced by an intoxicating pink loving brume. You two definitely spend the most perfect evening with lots of cuddles and endless mind-blowing lovemaking. Screw everything else.

New Beginnings
A/N: hi, just dropping in to say I’m writing again >:D enjoy this slow burn. Also, surprise, it’s not a lizard man story though I do have one in the works so there is that.
~*~*~*~
Torren swung the ax down, splitting the log in two. Sweat beaded his brow as the sun bore down on him. He stuck the ax down in the wood stump and stood, wiping away the sweat with the back of his hand as he looked up at the sky. Just past noon, he’d have to get a move on if he was going to be on time for the kings summon. If he even wanted to take the job, whatever it was. If King Richard the second wished to hire a mercenary, it surely couldn’t be for anything fun. He clearly didn’t want to waste his own men for this, which meant that Torren was likely going to die during his job.
And yet… the money he would get if he lived. He could retire, and finally live his dream of being the towns hermit to its fullest potential. As in, he only ever comes into town on stormy nights to buy ten kegs of ale and disappear for another three months. He grew his own food, hunted his own meat. Of course he kept messing up his tomato plants which meant he had to go into town to get those, but once he can figure it out then mission Hermit was a go.
Stepping back, he grabbed the shirt he had draped over a nearby branch and walked towards his home. It was a nice little shack, one he’d built from scratch back when he was just a young boy. He had found the location by accident really, one minute he was being chased by his elder brothers, the next he was standing in a clearing with a pond and no one in sight for miles. At first it was just a cool hideout, somewhere he could go to get away from his crazy family and village bullies. But over the years he spent more and more time here, fixing it up and expanding the facilities. Next thing he knew he had completely moved in and claimed the land officially as his.
Tossing the shirt on the couch, he walked into his bedroom and opened his dresser. He wasn’t sure what he’d need really, if this was a quick trip, and he hoped it was, he’d only really need two shirts, pants and his washing supplies. He already had his armor on, his swords were already by the door, polished and ready to go. He grabbed the shirts, extra pants, and his bag of supplies and stuffed them into a bag that he could tack onto his horses saddle. He’d grab a small coin purse for food and drink, which should cover him for his trip if he was careful. If he ran out of coin he’d only have to offer to chop wood for inns or something like that.
As he turned to leave, bag in hand, he stopped by the kitchen and grabbed the oat bag for Sweetie. Most of the time she was content to just chew on grass, or even break into gardens and devour everything in sight. But oats, how she loved oats.
The sun glared at him as he exited the house, he stopped briefly to lock it up before continuing down the path to the pasture. He could already see the giant grazing peacefully, black tail flicking away bugs as her dappled gray coat shone silver in the sunlight. She was truly a magnificent horse, holding a presence without even trying. She was a draft horse, one of the few capable of holding a full grown orc. And she was an absolute sweetie, hence, her name.
“Got something for you, Sweetie,” Torren called as he entered the stall part of the pasture, grinning as her large head shot up, ears pointed forward and nostrils flaring. She smelled the oats like sharks smell blood in the water. With a graceful trot, she soon stood in front of him, towering over him by two feet. She bent down and nuzzled his cheek lovingly, snorting into his ear as he tried to shove her away. “We don’t have time to cuddle, girl. The King wants us at the castle by midday tomorrow.”
Sweetie snorted and stood upright again, flank twitching as she moved past him and into the tacking area. She was smart, smarter than most horses he’d met. She waited patiently as he began to saddle her, taking his time to secure the bag and oats in a place where she couldn’t get to it. She was tricksy, especially when it came to oats. But she also knew that those were a night time snack, something that he wouldn’t just give out unless they narrowly avoided death and allowed her to have something to chew on while he fought off a panic attack.
He slid the reins over her head, patting her cheek as she opened her mouth to allow the rod to go in. Once she was fully outfitted, he lead her out of the stalls and closed the doors behind her. He swung up onto her back, and settled in. Gathering the reins, he clicked his tongue and set off down the dirt path that lead into town. The castle wasn’t too far, if he traveled nonstop today he’d be able to make it before midday tomorrow. Talk to the king, get the job done, and they’d be home before they knew it.
~*~*~*~
Reaching the castle, Torren almost turned back around. He’d heard the rumors, how King Richard the second seemed to… overcompensate. The walls around the kingdom were large, but not as large as the damn castle. It towered over everything, almost as if it was a direct challenge to the gods. It was also very, very ugly with its pale brown coloring and lack of windows.
Showing his summons slip to the guards at the gate, he slowly made his way into the kingdom. It was another thing that irked him about King Richard, he was a man with “purist” beliefs. No race other than human was allowed past the walls without a proper invite. There was no trading, or apprenticeship allowed between humans and others. Which raised another red flag about this job offer, why would a king who hates his kind specifically ask him to complete a task for him.
Torren tightened his fist on the reins as he watched the crowd wearily. He was going to die, either here or on this job if he wasn’t careful enough. The townsfolk weren’t bad, they looked more open to him than the guards did, but he didn’t dare interact with them. Not even to the young children who waved at him for the guards were watching him just as closely as he was watching them.
Reaching the palace, he climbed off of Sweetie’s back and handed the reins over to the stable boy, a warning look in his eyes. If they mistreated her, he would rip all of their spines from their backs and beat them to death with it. Torren turned to look at the guards that approached him, back stiff as he towered over them. It was almost laughable, how they escorted him into the palace.
The inside of the castle was just as ugly as the outside, the same beige walls, no decorations whatsoever. Whoever helped the king design this deserved to be publicly executed. Knights stood at every corner, some seemed to be standing at random places the further they got in. It was almost as if someone had just told them to pick a window and stand. The guards increased as they drew closer to the throne room, all of them standing at attention as they stopped in the middle. The guards beside him stood at attention, hands over heart and back straight.
One of the guards announced the arrival of the king, everyone else following in salute. Torren looked up in expectation for the infamous King Richard the Second. Looking, looking, out of confusion, his gaze drew down to the floor when an irritated cough sounded.
Oh, oh gods…
Torren had to physically bite his tongue as he took in the sight of King Richard the second. No wonder the castle was so large and hideous, this man barely stood past a humans waist. He recalled an old nickname for the king, one that was immediately outlawed in the towns surrounding his kingdom. Little Dick Jr, the bane of all of Pufort.
Torren knelt in front of the tiny king before any more offense could be given. And he had a lot to give at this moment in time. “Your grace,” he said stiffly.
“Rise,” came the nasally response. “Do you know why I've called you here, orc?” Dick Jr asked once Torren towered over him again.
“No, m'lord.”
“I am a king without a queen, I'm basically a laughing stock in all the kingdoms!” Torren was willing to put money on it, that wasn't the reason why, but he knew better than to say that. “But there's a princess, locked away in a tower due east. And she will be my bride.”
“And you wish me to retrieve her?” Torren asked for clarification. That didn't sound so hard at all.
“Yes, it's a week’s journey all together, the roads are treacherous, but I'm sure you're no stranger to that,” again, nothing dangerous. “And then of course there's the active volcano and lava surrounding the castle and the dragon guarding it.” Ah, there it is.
“I see, that doesn't sound too difficult for me,” Torren said, lying through his teeth. He could handle bandits, he could even sneak past a fucking dragon. But lava? An active volcano? That was something he'd never experienced before and wasn't too keen on the idea.
“Perfect, we will discuss your payment when you get back. Godspeed, I wish to be married by the end of the month!” Little Dick Jr clapped his hands twice, alerting the guards that he was done talking to the half orc.
Torren bowed his head and turned to make his leave. If he walked fast enough, he could get out of this city by the time the king reached the stairs. The guards had attempted to follow him out, but after they had to literally run to keep up they quit. It wasn't like he was going to do anything anyways.
He eyed the gods awful bust of Dick jr. and contemplated tripping into it…
No, no. Not yet.
~*~*~*~
If there were small miracles, Torren may have found one. Sweetie was in perfect condition when he had retrieved her, granted she had been touched by the stable hands and she made sure to voice her displeasure by biting his shirt and nearly throwing him into a mud pile. Sweetie was a sweetheart up until she had the wrath of the gods placed upon her.
They had made their way out of the kingdom as fast as they could, and Torren was grateful that the guards didn’t give him an official escort out of the kingdom. Though, he had noticed several guards watching him carefully if he lingered too long in an area. Sure, there was traffic, but he was an orc, that was an unforgivable crime don’t you know? He half expected to get harassed when he passed by the front gate guards, but he was uncomfortably surprised to find that they did not.
Oh, he was going to die on this mission. He should have gotten his affairs in order, who was going to take after Sweetie when he was gone? His brothers were half a kingdom away and his neighbors didn’t know he existed. Now, he was realizing as he traversed the hills, it was a bad time to be a hermit. Sweetie was smart though, maybe she’d find a new hermit to adopt and go about her life.
Okay, maybe he should focus on traveling and not his soon to be untimely demise.
Torren had just crested the hill overlooking the neighboring village when a shout came from his right. Looking over, he was wary to see an elf making his way over on his own sturdy steed. The elf seemed friendly enough, though most elves he met rarely stayed friendly. He paused and waited for the elf to approach, keeping a hand on his dagger just in case.
The elf wasn’t bad looking, kind of handsome really if Torren was being honest with himself. Tall, a bit taller than most of the elves he met, golden skin that would make King Midas jealous. Long brown hair braided back in practicality rather than aesthetic, though it was a tad too ornate for pure practicality. He was dressed in simple leathers, with elven embroidery up around the shoulders, partially obscured by the cloak he wore.
“Hail, friend! I see you came from Pufort, a fine accomplishment for those of us considered too “unpure”,” the elf gave a laugh as he settled beside Sweetie. “Gavril, merc for hire,” he introduced himself as he put his hand out.
“Torren,” Torren said as he took the hand and shook it once. A mutual respect was given to the elf, some mercs stuck together, especially those around Pufort. The land wasn’t known for tolerance, mostly the guards fault, and so it wasn’t common to see many mercs who weren’t human. “What brings you to Pufort?”
“Ah, but the king, of course!” Gavril gave the man a bright smile before his smile dropped. “Better to talk here than in the village. Less ears.”
Torren felt his heart drop at the comment, dear gods was this the end? He hadn’t even made it out of Pufort yet! Gods, the amount of fun his brothers would have when they find out that he died in Pufort of all places…
“I can see you’re freaking out, fear not, I am not going to say “long live Dickie”,” Gavril let out a laugh, and Torren didn’t appreciate it, like, at all. “He hired me a month back, and when I disappeared he chose to hire you.”
“And I should believe you, why?” Torren actually did believe him, it was just the dick move that Dickie would pull. But he was a distrustful man by nature, and so grilling the elf it was.
“Why would I lie? Being here in of itself is a death sentence for me if one of his guards spots me,” Gavril shrugged. “No, I felt as if the job was far too… strange for me to complete without the full story.”
“And that story was?” Torren raised a brow as he shifted on Sweetie, who snorted in warning as she grazed.
“The princess, she’s apparently the daughter of the neighboring kingdom, Aster. I did my research and went to them with the information on Richard. They don’t like the idea of an unsavory man such as him “rescuing” their daughter in such an unhonorable way,” Gavril leaned a bit as his voice dropped. “I was riding by, coming back from another business that I had to attend, when I happened to have heard he had another summons, I thought it was only fair to let you know about it all.”
“And what, exactly, are you hoping to inform me of other than the princesses misfortunes?” Torren leaned slightly in despite himself.
“I’m to meet another fellow, a minotaur by the name of Jardor. He was the princess's guard before she was imprisoned so she’d be more trusting of us. Her parents hired me to take her Aster instead of Pufort, and their offer is extended to any other mercenary hired by Richard.”
“And this is legitimate? How do you know they won’t cast you off to Richards' wrath once they have their daughter?”
Gavril nodded as he sat upright. “A fair question, I, myself, found myself doubting it. However, I asked around their former employers and found that they were actually credible. I understand that you have no reason to believe me, but if you are curious you are more than welcome to come with me to meet up with Jardor.”
“And where is he?” Surely a minotaur would be noticeable around a place like Pufort.
“He was smart enough not to come to the welcoming land of Pufort,” Gavril said with a grin. “He’s in Halder’s Rest in the neighboring village, Stonewall, I believe.”
“And you just happened to be riding by Pufort and saw me?” Torren raised a brow as he leaned back.
Gavril let out a soft laugh. “Fair enough, I might have been lingering around to see what the little man’s reaction would have been.”
“How? You couldn’t have been allowed in the city.”
“It’s actually fairly easy to sneak in if you find the really dumb guards,” Gavril said with a smirk. “If you talk fast and use big words to explain away things, they simply just let you in.”
Torren shook his head, “very well. I’ll come with you to this Jardor, but I make no promises that I will join you.”
“Of course,” Gavril gave a bow to his head. “Now, what do you think are the odds that these kind folk will allow us to rest in their undoubtedly comfortable inn?”
“‘Us’?” Torren looked at the elf with furrowed brows. Surely he didn’t think they were going to travel to Halder’s Rest together, did he?
“Yes, ‘us’,” Gavril said with a raised brow. “Surely you didn’t think I’d just abandon you to these unwashed masses, did you?”
“Yes?” Torren wasn’t sure who he pissed off up there, but he was fairly sure he didn’t deserve this kind of forced upon companionship here.
“Oh, my friend,” Gavril gave a sympathetic pout before clapping Torren on the shoulder. “You’re stuck with me.”
Gods help him.
~*~*~*~
Turns out, the good folk were not willing to rent out their plentiful rooms to two distinguished gentlemen like them. So, seeing as the guards started gathering around them once they exited, the duo had opted to camp out on the spacious planes outside of the village. Pro: it was a nice night out with the stars shining bright; con: there were wolves and they very much were eyeing them as a snack.
Luckily for them, the wolves found a rather unfortunate deer and left them alone for the rest of the night. After that, the sleeping got easier, though Torren still kept a hand on his dagger under his pillow. And if he noticed that Gavril did the same with his staff, well, he wasn’t going to be one to talk.
The morning was a tense affair, Gavril had cooked and while it smelt delicious Torren wasn’t one for accepting food from strangers. But his mother also raised a gentleman with manners so he ate anyway. And it pissed him off more that it was, indeed, delicious in all honesty.
They set off not long afterwards, mounting their steeds and making their way to Stonewall, a village that was a good two hours away. Both Sweetie and Torren did their best to ride ahead of Gavril and his steed, Farren, however the two seemed to be professionals Thorn in his Side, for they stayed right on his heels, humming a stupid little song.
Torren really pissed off some of the gods.
But, by the Grace of the gods, they finally made it to Halder's Rest with minimal spats. Or, "character building" in Gavril's mind. The vast difference between Aster's civilians and Pufort's was easily spotted. Where an inhuman was hard to see even just passing through in Pufort, it was hard to not see them in Aster. From vendors, to guards, to just a milk maiden lizard girl.
It felt… welcoming.
"Halder's Rest is just down the road,'' Gavril said as he led Farren though the bustling roads.
Torren let him take the reins, not sure if he should run or not. He had no idea really what sort of situation he was walking into. One kingdom was going to be pissed off, that was for sure. Either Pufort or Aster, and he wasn’t sure which one was better. Aster wasn’t known for its military, sure it had it, but no one had seen it in action in well over a hundred years. They preferred to stay diplomatic in negotiations, and somehow it’s worked so far. And yet, he feared what Aster would do if King Richard the Seconded got his grubby little hands on their daughter.
But another part feared what the King would do to him if he failed to deliver the princess. He wasn’t the first mercenary, and even Gavril admitted he was cheating death when he hung around Pufort waiting for Torren to leave. Pufort was well known for their military power. King Richard was always willing to fling a fleet at a neighboring kingdom, or hell, even his own people, if he felt there was even a hint of offense at him and his legitimacy of his rule.
He should run, Torren realized. Like now, right now-
“Hey, there he is!” Gavril said as he pointed at the minotaur guard that stood outside the inn with his arms crossed. “Jardor!”
Jardor looked up with irritation on his face. He was big, even for a minotaur and just as uniquely colored. Most minotaurs that Torren had come across were either brown or black with white colorations. But Jardor was a multi-colored minotaur, white based but he had russet, black, brown and gray mottled on the skin that was exposed through his armor. His horns were wide and angled high, making him more imposing.
“Stop calling attention to us,” the guard hissed as they drew closer. “You could jeopardize the mission.”
“Oh, please,” Gavril rolled his eyes. “There’s only milkmaids here, it’s not that dangerous.”
“The king could find out and send his fleet,” Torren hissed at the elf.
“Exactly,” Jardor snorted as he shifted his stance. “Our success depends heavily on stealth. Until we deliver the princess back to the capital of Aster, we are not out of the weeds yet.”
Gavril sighed heavily but nodded. “So, are we heading out or is there other business we need to attend to first here?”
“We’ll head out, most of the pleasantries can be exchanged on the road,” Jardor said as he led them to the guards stables and pulled his draft horse out of the stall. As he mounted, Torren surveyed the town. It was a nice place to be, he supposed. But he still preferred his privacy.
“I don’t believe we met,” Jardor said to him as they set out. “I’m the Princesses’ guard, Jardor Stoneskin. And you?”
“Torren Azorrn,” Torren said finally. “Just got hired from the King-”
“-and poached from me once he left,” Gavril interjected with a cheerful grin.
“Yes,” Torren agreed with a heavy sighed.
Jardor snorted and shook his head. “Of course,” he sighed. “I apologize for him, he was supposed to go home and then make his way back here. Though I am glad he did make the detour, I doubt I would have survived the trip with just the two of us.”
Torren found himself smiling as Gavril let out a gasp of mock hurt. “It is nice to have a more level headed company,” he agreed as Gavril mumbled to himself as the two men snickered.
“I will have you two know, I am pleasant company!” Gavril said as he steered his horse next to Sweetie.
“Of course, my friend,” Jardor said evenly with a placating smile. “Of course.”
“Why did you have to return home, anyways?” Torren asked with a raised brow at the elf. He had only mentioned business arrangements, but going home was an entirely different thing “Was that the other business you mentioned earlier?”
“It was,” Gavril said defensively. “I have people at home who were waiting on me, had to let them know I’d be back for good later than anticipated.”
Torren nodded and left it at that, he wasn’t going to judge people for their personal affairs, he knew that if he was still in contact with his own brothers he’d be doing the same. They lapsed into a silence after that, save for the occasional direction change from Jardor the other two were content with just following him. Finally, Torren found himself speaking up. “Jardor, if you’re the princesses’ guard, then why aren’t you with her?”
“Ah, there are two princesses in Aster, the one who is heir to the throne and the second in line should anything happen to the eldest sibling,” Jardor said. “The princess I served was the second in line, though she loathed the whole thing,” he added with a soft smile. “When she was...cursed, I was ordered to stay behind and help protect her sister.”
“So she’s cursed?” Gavril asked with a frown. “You didn’t mention that.”
Jardor shifted uncomfortably in his seat. “I, yes, she’s cursed,” he said stiffly. “The sooner she comes home, I’m sure she’ll be closer to breaking that curse.”
“Isn’t true love usually the factor in those curses?” Gavril asked with a furrowed brow as Torren studied the minotaur.
“Yes, but that is not the case here,” Jardor said with such confidence neither mercenary knew what to do with that.
“So what is this curse?” Torren asked. “Why was she moved to such a remote location, surrounded by lava and a dragon?”
“It was considered necessary by the Throne, it was not my place to question it,” Jardor said stiffly.
“So you did disagree,” Gavril noted. “Which means it likely isn’t a curse, and that makes me so much more intrigued, don’t you feel the same, Torren?”
Torren didn’t comment. But he did note that the minotaur was clearly hiding something, and that made him all the more wary of this job. He should have just stayed home.
“Must you grate on my nerves, elf-boy?” Jardor snapped as he looked at the elven mercenary.
“Ah, elf-boy is actually my younger brother, a cute lad but not nearly as annoying as me, elf-man,” Gavril said with a grin, but it dropped quickly in the wake of a grim expression on his face. “Look, we can deal with a dragon, and even the lava. But if she’s cursed, we need to know exactly what we’re walking into.”
“Nothing dangerous,” Jardor promised, and the two men relaxed just a bit at that. The situation was weird, but Jardor radiated a trusting aura that it was hard to suspect they were walking into a trap. At least for Gavril, Torren always assumed there would be a trap involved when he traveled with others. “Just let me take the lead when we get to the tower, a familiar face will help her.”
“How long has she been locked away?” Torren asked finally.
“Seven years,” Jardor said with a weary look in his eyes, and deeper down, pain. “It’s high time for her to come home.” He nudged his horse, kicking her into a faster gait as they made their way out of Aster and into the wildlands. “That said, we’re a three day journey away from the tower, it’s in a remote part of the country that few travel by. We shouldn’t face any resistance before the volcano.”
“Well then, let’s get ourselves a princess,” Gavril said with a smirk at Torren as he sent Farren barreling after Jardor.
Torren sighed heavily and patted Sweetie’s neck, “let’s get this over with,” he said to her as he nudged her side gently, a gentle permission to run with the other horses, a permission that she gladly took as she galloped next to their two companions. In just three days, he’ll be fighting off a dragon surrounded by molten lava just to rescue a princess. That was the only certain thing he knew about this mission, if there was a curse, if they could get her to Aster before the King found out, if he still was getting paid.
Gods, was he still getting paid?

[eye of the tiger blasting]
Jardor kept the lead, forging ahead when Gavril decided that bickering with Torren was a Lovely Idea. Both men, both adult men, were constantly five seconds away from getting into a slapping fight that escalated when Gavril, a four year old apparently trapped in a twenty eight year old's body, claimed that Torren had hit him.
Jardor just let it happen when Torren really did hit him.
Setting up camp was a horrid affair, all three of them were skilled in camping, but those skills had varying degrees. Jardor could put up an excellent tent, but the sleeping cot kept getting tangled and eventually he just laid out on the mess with a stoic resolve. Torren was an expert in putting out his sleeping cot, but his tent kept falling out on one side and eventually he just moved Sweetie over to help keep it propped up with the promises of getting her an extra big bag of oats. And Gavril would put his tent up, but in the process of laying out his sleeping cot the tent would fall. When he’d try to put the cot up first, the tent would fall and he’d have to find his way back out again. And so, in a moment where his remaining two brain cells bumped together, he tied his tent up to the branches of the tree keeping it up and elevated while Torren glared at him from the inside of his lopsided tent that was beginning to smell of horse.
The morning didn’t help anything either.
Torren, used to years of cooking and traveling by himself, had woken up early and made himself, and only himself, a nice breakfast. The other two, woken by the pleasant smell of bacon and the heavenly sizzle of fresh eggs being cooked, came out of their tents with growling stomachs and crushing disappointment when they spotted Torren eating it all by himself. Jardor was disappointed, Gavril was dismayed. The two had to fend for themselves, Jardor splitting a piece of jerky with the elf as they glared subtly in Jardor’s case, and blatantly in Gavril’s.
When they finally set back out again, it was in lesser spirits than the day before. They were less than a day away, according to the smell of sulfur that got increasingly heavier as they traveled on. Gavril could see why no one had rescued the princess prior till now, the lands around the volcano were barren, the roads treacherous by hungry wolves. It was dangerous even for the three of them, he couldn’t imagine a merchant or a lone adventurer braving this land.
Well, maybe Torren.
But everyone else would be fucked.
Jardor let out a soft laugh up ahead and slowed to a stop at the crest of the hill. He glanced back at the two catching up, a light shining in his eyes as he grinned at them. “We’re here,” he announced as the tower, tall and magnificent, loomed below. It wasn’t exactly just a remote tower, Gavril could make out some crumbling structures of a once beautiful palace. He wondered, hoped really, that it was still stable and safe for the princess, surely her parent’s wouldn’t have dumped her into this hell hole if it was unstable. He paused, actually, he’s met some gods awful parent’s. It was a high possibility. But that was neither here nor there, the tower was still far enough away, but they would arrive there within the hour if they paced themselves. They still couldn’t spot the dragon, and none of them were willing to go head on against a fucking dragon.
Torren opened his mouth to speak, to ask what the plan was in case the dragon reared its head. But before he could utter a single word, a horn sounded from behind them. The three turned on their steeds to watch as a troop of soldiers made their way towards the tower, banners flying high, and armor glittering in the sunlight.
Pufort.
"Fuck," Gavril said with pursed lips.
Fuck was right.
~*~*~*~
Princess Amirah was absolutely, and positively bored. She had nothing else to paint, unless Harold suddenly changed their mind about her painting his scales. She’s run dramatically through the hallways a dozen times this morning, and really she wasn’t feeling it for a thirteenth time. All the books have been read, a countless amount of times. At this point she could quote the books and she did, constantly, to Harold as they cleaned their teeth from their meal each night. Harold never spoke as to whether or not they enjoyed it, but she assumed they would have put an end to it by now if they didn’t.
She sighed heavily as she paced her room, paint brush in hand as she tried to figure out a new canvas. There was still some room on the window sill, maybe even the dresser if she painted small enough. She paused by the open window, the smell of sulfur no longer bothered her as she breathed it in. She barely remembered the smell of fresh, clean air. Or the sound of bustling streets, the maids coming in with sweet hushed words, her mothers hugs…
Amirah shook her head and smacked her cheek chastisingly with her paint brush. No, no thoughts like that, she’s survived seven years without those things, she can survive many more. In all honesty, she probably could leave. It wasn’t like anyone was going to come looking for her of all the princesses in this unholy tower. They were more likely to go for the skinny blonde overlooking the ocean than her. Which was fine, she was the second born princess of Aster, her sister was always considered the prettiest, the fairest, the princess that all should aspire to be.
Amirah made it her mission to defy that expectation. She hated the princess duties that her mother and sister had forced her to attend. She hated the expectations that were expected of her as the second in line to the throne. To marry a neighboring kingdom, to secure an alliance between the two. To have their heirs and continue the bloodline. It all made her squeamish honestly. In a perfect life, she wouldn’t mind marrying and settling down on her own terms with someone that she truly loved. But she didn’t have the perfect life, she had her mothers expectations and her sister's legacy.
She was honestly safer in the tower than back home.
A strange sound filled the air, and a frown pulled at her lips as she looked off outside. She adjusted her glasses as another horn sounded, a horn of all things. Why would a horn be here, who was blowing the damned thing. They were going to wake Harold up!
Leaning out the window, Amirah let out a gasp as banners crested over the hill. Banners that belonged to Pufort, the kingdom ruled by King Richard. In the distance, she spotted three men charging ahead of the group, and hope glittered in her heart as she spied familiar horns. Was Jardor really here? She didn't know who the other men were, or what she assumed were male honestly she knew some beefy female knights, oh gods was Clarissa here? That would truly make her day.
Before she could speculate, however, a loud roar filled the air and shook the ground. Clinging to the wall, Amirah looked up in slight fear. She knew that roar, and what it meant. A challenge, anyone who wanted her, had to go through them.
May the Divines bless their poor souls.

Stuff to watch on Halloween/October (and be like me)
I prepared a list of movies and episodes that I like to watch around/during Halloween. I don’t really watch scary movies, but I do enjoy animation and family friendly things.
Gravity Falls (2012-2016) - all episodes, my rating 10/10
The show is the story of young twins Dipper and Mabel Pines, who are sent for the summer to live with their great uncle, "Grunkle" Stan, a cranky old man who runs the Mystery Shack, a tourist attraction in the town of Gravity Falls. But Gravity Falls is more than just local color and mysterious relatives.
Over The Garden Wall (2014) - all episodes, my rating 10/10
The series follows two half-brothers, Wirt and Greg who become lost in a strange forest called the Unknown. To find their way home, the two must travel across the seemingly supernatural forest with the occasional help of the wandering, mysterious and elderly Woodsman and Beatrice, an irritable bluebird who travels with the boys to find a woman called Adelaide, who can supposedly undo the curse on Beatrice and her family and show the half-brothers the way home.
Coraline (2009) - my rating 10/10
An adventurous 11-year-old girl finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home, but it has sinister secrets. When Coraline moves to an old house, she feels bored and neglected by her parents. She finds a hidden door with a bricked up passage.
What We Do In The Shadows (2014) - my rating 10/10
A documentary crew follows four vampire roommates—Viago, Vladislav, Deacon, and Petyr— who share a flat in the Wellington suburb of Te Aro. All of the vampires possess supernatural powers, including levitation and the ability to transform into animals.
The Nightmare before Christmas (1993) - my rating 9/10
The film follows the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown's beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the "real world." When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life -- he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role.
The Haunted Mansion (2003) - my rating 9/10
A realtor and his wife and children are summoned to a mansion, which they soon discover is haunted, and while they attempt to escape, he learns an important lesson about the family he has neglected.
Night At The Museum (2006) - my rating 9/10
It tells the story of a divorced father who applies for a job as a night watchman at New York City's American Museum of Natural History and subsequently discovers that the exhibits, animated by a magical Egyptian artifact, come to life at night.
Brooklyn 99 (2013-2021) - heist episodes, my rating 9/10
Every year, the 99th Precinct has their annual Halloween Heist to decide who is the Ultimate Detective/Genius, and later the Ultimate Human/Genius.
The Addams Family (1991) - my rating 8/10
What happens in the Addams Family movie? The film focuses on a bizarre, macabre, aristocratic family who reconnect with what they believe to be a long-lost relative, Gomez's brother Fester Addams, who is actually the adopted son of a loan shark intending to swindle the Addams clan out of its vast wealth and fortune.
Community (2009-2015) - halloween episodes, my rating 8/10
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009) - my rating 7/10
Three years after the events of the first film, Larry Daley, former night guard at the American Museum of Natural History, now runs his own direct response television company that sells inventions based on his museum experiences. After work one day, he stops by the museum, where Dr. McPhee tells him that most of the exhibits are being moved to the Federal Archives at the Smithsonian Institution, being replaced with holographic information providers. Larry spends one last night with his exhibit friends.
The Corpse Bride (2005) - my rating 7/10
When a shy groom practices his wedding vows in the inadvertent presence of a deceased young woman, she rises from the grave assuming he has married her.
Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014) - my rating 7/10
At the Museum of Natural History, there's a new exhibit being unveiled. Larry Daley, who manages the night exhibit where the exhibits come to life because of the Tablet of Ahkmenrah, is in charge of the presentation. But when the exhibits go awry, Larry finds himself in trouble.
