I adore this fic, though I haven't written too much of it 😅👌 Premise is that Edwin, Charles, and Crystal have all gone to University in the UK and just finished their final year 😊👍 As a drunken decision made by Charles and Crystal, they end up going on an end of year trip for a few months to California to enjoy the beach and everything 🤣👌 And whilst on the beach, Edwin might end up getting distracted from his book by a rather attractive surfer 👀

Okay, for snippet it was a really hard choice, but I think I'm gonna go with the first time Edwin sees Thomas (the Cat King) 👀 (with a slight hint of his slight crush on Charles too 👀)

After a little while of hiding behind his knees, putting more energy into not looking at Charles than actually reading, Edwin felt his heart rate finally start to slow. He relaxed a bit, switching to sitting cross legged, and actually diving into the world of the book he brought with him. It was a pleasant escape from reality, or certainly from the reality of his ridiculous crush on his best friend that he really shouldn't still have. Edwin headbutted the book in his hands struggling to focus as the words swam together on the page and his mind drifted to places he was fighting hard to keep it away from. With a deep sigh he raised his gaze away from the book and back to the bright blue of the ocean in front of him. Instead of looking anywhere near Charles and Crystal, Edwin cast his gaze further down the beach. Most of the families had left now, but there were one or two bodyboarders still out in the waves. Edwin hoped it would be rather harmless to observe them for a moment. It was just to try and work out how it was done so that he would not make an utter fool of himself should the three of them try it out themselves later on in their holiday. It didn't seem too complicated, and he supposed this part was obvious from the name, but they wouldn't have to try and stand, unlike surfing. He had to admit, it did seem like it would be quite fun. Edwin was about to turn away again, when a bodyboarder he had not seen until now emerged from behind a wave. Edwin could not seem to stop staring as the stranger pushed his torso up off of his board a little and the wave crashed behind him, propelling him forward. His arms were lithe yet muscular, and perfectly tanned in a way that Edwin assumed was natural for people local to this area, what with all the sun. Edwin's eyes drifted further, and he found that the stranger's chest was just as perfectly sculpted as his arms, and carried that same tan. The fact he was covered in water wasn't helping Edwin much, as his skin quite literally glistened in the late afternoon sun. What he could see of the stranger's face was equally as gorgeous as the rest of his body, though he was a bit far away to make out too much in detail, and his messy wet curls framed his face perfectly without him even having to try. Edwin was utterly enraptured. He really should have turned away and stopped staring by this point, but he was in such a daze he hadn't even realised that the stranger had gotten out of the water and was looking his way, a soft smirk on his face. Until their eyes met, that was. Edwin startled a little, eyes blowing wide as he utterly froze. The stranger was still staring straight at him, the smirk shifting into a smile. For a moment Edwin hoped that he wasn't actually looking at him, and that he hadn't noticed his staring, but he already knew there was no one else in this direction. Perhaps he was just admiring the scenery, or something, and Edwin could play off his staring as the same. But then the stranger raised a hand and waved at him, and that hope was dashed. Immediately, Edwin dropped his head to hide behind his book. He was far too afraid to even dare look in the handsome man's direction again, or at anything other than the words in front of him. When a shadow darkened the pages just a few moments later, Edwin froze yet again, trying to think up some sort of lie to escape whatever confrontation was about to occur. “Edwin, mate, are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost?” Charles’ voice interrupted his spiraling thoughts, tone jovial and light.

I hope you enjoyed this little hint! I really need to get back to this fic but I need to make sure I've got a good plan in place so it doesn't get too repetitive 😊💜🫂

Happy Halloween! 🎃 I give you Bunny Edward! 🐰

oh wow, i actually did something for halloween :0 shooketh (/s /j)

ok but in all seriousness, i wanted Edward dressed as an animal after watching Thomas' Animal Friends (Season 24), so I did it myself. >:3 Used the design he would have in present day so he's got his piercings! Really happy with how this came out. I went with something simplistic, reminiscent of the James and Edward screenshot redraw I did a while ago. Still love that one, despite some proportion issues.

The bunny costume is a play-on of multiple things:

For starters, the breed he's dressed as is the Smoke Pearl rabbit, which is native to Scotland. (CHONK)

In Mattel's interpretation of the steam engines as zodiac signs, Edward was labeled as a Cancer (like me! :D). You know who else is a Cancer? Usagi Tsukino. What does her name translate to? Rabbit of the Moon. SPEAKING OF! I was originally going to replicate the motion of this pose (with Edward as an engine)...

...but it didn't work out. Sketches were done on paper, which were really messy. Managed to make it work though. 👍👍👍

"Bunny" is Edward's nickname that was initially given to him by his crews during his time on the FR. James reuses the nickname when they start dating but by that point, he doesn't know that Bunny was one of Edward's previous nicknames. The reason why Edward was called Bunny in the first place by both parties was because he has the tendency to twitch his nose subconsciously when he gets upset.

Maybe it's because he himself seemed constantly stressed and running around doing some sort of assignment, and in the plays it's sometimes played as if he dies from sheer exhaustion, but I kind of like the idea of a beardog like Ischyrocyon or Amphicyon. The beardogs were famously generalists in hunting and in both of the above genera, it's hypothesized they may have been persistence hunters.

Also voting for Anne of Burgundy as an alvarezsauroid like Mononykus or Shuvuuia, which have been compared to nocturnal avian hunters like owls 🤎🤍

So a guy having a pretty productive relationship to his family (not perfect, but pretty good compared to others I could name...) trying his best to be an actual protector of his relative's kid, having a lot of relationship drama, and also getting into spats with people reads as very ceratopsian to me lmao. To de-fang him a just a little, I'm going with Kosmoceratops. Those folded horns on the top edge of the frill and side-facing brow horns probably aren't going to help you that much at Agincourt, but I'm sure that pretty lady from Cobham thinks they're fire 👍

when the tss patreon first became a thing i was. so excited. mostly because i thought that the idea of a writer's room would be fun (Oh how wrong I was..) and being able to contribute to faster higher quality content (LMAO!!!!!!!!) but also because of the janus t-shirt. i wanted that goddamn t-shirt so bad.

so i did it! became a patreon for about.. a year? i think? roman level due to me wanting that t-shirt which is. actually just a little ugly (i've never really thought the merch design was actually nice looking though, ppl just want their smth of their fave side which is fair enough, ykno? christmas sweaters are kind of ok tho) BUT ANYWAYS janus is my fave and i wanted smth and i thought: "hey! cool! i can support my fave creator, get extra content (again lmao) AND get smth of my fave side??? DEAL 🤝

months pass

got the message that i was one of the first people to sign up and that i would be getting the t-shirt! GREAT 😃👍

see ppl starting to get their t-shirts and i hadn't yet but that's fair cause i live in a completely different country and a completely different continent even.

2 months pass by

i thought at least that i would be getting the shipping information by now but.. nothing. so i go and message the patreon, and VERY nicely may i add, asking them if it's gotten shipped yet. get a message back from them that was basically them sending me an e-mail and for me to message them instead because they were the ones with the actual merch..

huh that's kind of weird.. couldn't you do that?

whatever. i send a mail to the email i was given and got the response that the tss crew are the ones who are supposed to be doing that. message their patreon again and they give me the e-mail again. i go back and do the same thing. get the same response from that e-mail again. go back to their patreon and... no reply? huh.

this thing goes on for month.

in the end i came out of the whole ordeal with no poster or stickers i was promised, no janus merch and basically no extra content.

and i lost around $320.

i never raised a fuss, i still supported him and his crew and in the end i was the only one who lost.

my respect for him and his crew got so much lower after that but still i watch his content, still i love his characters (or at least what they used to be), never have i mentioned this cause i don't want to sound like someone having a tantrum over a goddamn t-shirt and also cause his fanbase would probably kill me if i told them that their precious tommy and his crew fucked me over.

but i am so tired of this shit and seeing his fanbase complain about ppl being critical of that patreon and him + his crew is driving me MAD!!!!!

Oh wow that’s shitty. I looked it up just to see how much the roman tier is now and it’s the second most expensive one at $50 currently. Not sure if it was then but that’s a lot if money per month.

Most egregous is not sending you that shirt. Maybe there was an issue with shipping since you’re in a different country but you should’ve been told there were issues instead of being sent around in circles.

I am going to take this with a grain of salt though as there are no screenshots and I don’t want to just take it as fact. But yeah, shitty situation and like usual it all goes back to Thomas and co needing to be more transparent especially to people directly paying them.

Her design is very recognizable and basic for marketing 👍

However, nothing about her design tells me that she’s a healer or botanist. Of course, you could argue the bandages on her arms show her medic nature but I could name a dozen characters that have bandages on their arms that aren’t necessarily medics. I would include some gloves tucked into her pocket or include some planet themed pins.

Not sure if anyone feels the same way but Felix and Élodie just match yknow? For some reason, I just knew they had a history when I looked at them. Maybe because they parallel each other through color. Felix tends to wear sharper, cooler colors while Élodie wears rounder, warmer colors. Idk if this makes sense.

hello i would like to hear your thoughts on jopson/little/tozer pls

hello from a day later. one thing about me is that i will not be logged in and therefore won't see this. the thing about jopson/little/tozer (which i've affectionately named toplittle because they... well...) is that it's vastly unrealistic but EYE think it's awesome. im gonna put my answer under the cut cos this is gonna be a bit long again.

there's the classic tozer/little narrative parallels which I'm sure you know i am very normal about, two men in command but still serving under crozier, both exceedingly loyal, and moral but subservient to the whims of more charismatic/controlling characters, manipulated & underappreciated but somehow still hopeful and doing everything they can to survive, etc. then the jopson/little parallels which i already mentioned in the joplittle ask. but i think there's also a lot of potential in the jopson/tozer dynamic. my main selling point is that they are connected through edward, which is honestly enough for me in a scenario where both joplittle and solittle are established, joplittle being brought closer together in their positions as crozier's main confidants and caretakers, and solittle being an unlikely bond forged between two men taking charge of their respective groups (ned with the navy and sol with the marines) and their relationship being the bridge between those two groups (also they have sex about it because tozer is lonely after heather and edward is just lonely full stop) . and within that weird situation somehow jopson and tozer also become aware of each other.

when it comes to jopzer/topson whatever u wanna call it, there's again the theme of unyielding loyalty, they both fill this caretaker role in their respective circles, they're overlooked by almost everyone in command except for one person (crozier) and are asked to sacrifice a huge part of themselves to maintain order and, in crozier's point of view, increase the chances of survival (jopson must sacrifice his steward role and become a lieutenant, something which liam garrigan confirms terrified jopson as a person who needs order, and tozer must give up his loyalty to the other marines when ordered to keep the discovery of fairholme's group a secret *and* is led to mutiny by how much he's lost trust in command). there's a potential tension to jopson and tozer's dynamic which obviously can't be explored in canon but i would love to see discussed more in fanworks, there's the potential of them either respecting the fuck out of each other OR resenting each other. i could see tozer regarding jopson as a bootlicker and jopson regarding tozer as ungrateful and insubordinate, and of course when two men hate each other in the terror we know what that can lead to 👍and if you imagine edward being stressed out caught in the middle of it because he admires both of them so much and leans on both of them for intimacy well. how can you not love it.

don't even get me started on when you throw hickey into the mix because i am also a hickeytozer AND jopkey enjoyer... it's like the world's worst polycule drama. people died. basically imagine if u will a world where toplittle happened and after tozer mutinies with hickey, jopson and little are left behind like What The Fuck Just Happened And Why Does It Hurt So Much. jopson putting the noose around hickey's neck at the hanging but pointedly ignoring tozer. perhaps channelling any anger he feels towards tozer into more hatred for hickey. tozer saying "come with us lieutenant" and edward hesitating for all sorts of reasons, but one of them being "what would thomas think". also in another world where edward DOES go with tozer, jopson is left behind and edward is thrown into the awful horrible fucked up cannibal polycule and has to deal with hickey's psychosexual manipulation as WELL as having to survive as WELL as having to deal with his guilt over betraying crozier and jopson and the men as WELL as being gay on top of it all. i love to make them suffer even more than necessary !!!! <3

Notes; I realized halfway through that this was starting to look very similar to another lemon x reader that also just so happens to be a bubble tea shop au sorta thing, so I just wanna clear up that I'm not purposely "stealing," ideas or work and I'm basing it off of the request.👍

Warnings; One swear word is about it, this is sort of a 'the-twins-are-off-of-work' sort of thing, so no violence, blood, or death in this fic.

You were currently working in a small Bubble Tea Cafe, it was fairly popular amongst the teens that lived within the area, but you still had some adults show up there too that were regulars. But there were so few of them that you could name them off the top of your head; Matthew, Edmund, Olive, Hannah, Ella, Jane, Jim, Scott, and the most peculiar name of them all, Lemon.

Olive and Hannah were best friends, Jim was a buissiness man, Jim and Scott were married to eachother, you didn't know much about Ella and Jane, and Lemon sometimes came in with his brother, Tangerine, and always got the same order.

Lemon in particular was your favourite customer to serve, he would typically come around the quieter hours that the Cafe was open, he was simple with his order, and he was funny and kept a conversation when you would make his drink, something that most people don't do either because they think its bothering or because they're on their phones.

You'd much rather people talk to you than they be on their phones.

You hadn't known much about him except that he has a brother obviously, that he's about the same age as you, and most importantly that he loves Thomas and Friends.

That's what you two would typically talk about when he came around. Though you could tell that his brother wasn't very fond of it whenever he came with him due to the annoyed look on his face. He was typically pretty quiet for the most part though.

You were currently washing the blenders off so you could have clean ones for the next customers that wanted a blended order.

Ding!

You finish drying your hands so you could get to the customer, only to turn around and find Lemon with his brother. Tangerine had that grumpy look on his face he always had, whilst Lemon had a large grin on his.

"Oh, hey guys, its always a pleasure to see you two, I'm going to assume the same thing today right?" You say, quickly making your way to the order station.

"Great to see you too, Y/n. I think I'm gonna try something different today though," Lemon says, looking at the menu.

"Alright, cool. What about you Tan, same thing?" You say, leaning on the counter.

"Yeah just the coffee bubble tea," Tangerine replies.

"Alright, Lemon, have you decided yet?" You look at him.

"Ooh, well my favourite is the Jasmine tea with coconut milk and the jelly cubes. Its fairly herbal and fruity so I think you might like it," You say.

You could see Tangerine snicker slightly before Lemon gives him a hard nudge at his ribs with his elbow.

"Yeah I'll have that," Lemon says.

You turn around to go and make the two their drinks, them bickering at eachother before it eventually stops. This wasn't odd behaviour for the two, they seemed to fight quite often actually, so you've just learned to ignore them.

"Y/n, darling, can I tell you something," You hear Tangerine say from behind you.

"Uh, yeah sure," You say, slightly confused.

Tangerine wasn't much one to talk, at least not when he was in the shop. And when he would talk to you it was just to give you his order, which was slightly unnecessary being he got the same thing everytime. So why is he talking to you now?

"Alright, you've got to really promise not to say anything to Lemon though because he'd try to kill me,"

"Um, alright?" Now you were even more confused, what does he have to say that can't be told to Lemon?

"Okay, Lem's got a little bit of a thing for you. Never told me directly but all he ever does is go on about you constantly. If he's not trying to get fuckin' Thomas and Friends into the conversation, he's trying to get you into it," He says, in a hushed tone.

You freeze up for a second, you could feel your face and ears rapidly starting to go red.

You'll admit, Lemon was a very handsome man. He was always very well dressed, he was nice and funny, and he had that cheeky smile that could be contagious to anyone, except for Tangerine apparently.

You didn't say anything until you finished the drinks and place them onto the counter in front of him, still letting Tangerine's words process into your mind.

"Do you really think he fancies me?" You ask, furrowing your eyebrows.

"Why? Do you fancy him?" Tangerine asks, raising an eyebrow, an amused smirk forming on his lips.

Lemon grins widely, "Great, here's my number," He says, taking a small yellow post it out of his pocket.

"Did you have that piece of paper ready for if I said yes?" You giggle, taking it gingerly from his hand.

"Maybe," He says, sheepishly.

You chuckle before reaching next to the cash register to grab a pen and paper to write your phone number down for him. You draw a little smile face down next to your name before handing the paper to him.

"I'll text you soon," Lemon says, giving a wink before leaving the Café.

You could see him walk to his car, Tangerine in the drivers seat, as he excitedly opens the car door and shows Tangerine the piece of paper you'd given him. Tangerine gives him a smile before starting the car up and driving off.

You wondered if Tangerine told Lemon what you'd said. You'll ask him about it eventually.

1990s German Techno Playlist (YouTube)

Started putting together a small playlist of some of my personal 90s German techno favorites for you all to enjoy for this week 😎. It's not definitive by any means, but with this first iteration, I think this thing still presents a pretty nice range of different types of techno, from the deep and rumbling, hypnotic basement kind to the main-room-of-the-club floor-stomping kind 😤. And despite the fact that most of these selections come from a small handful of Germany's most well-established dance and techno labels—Harthouse, Tresor, and the qualitative-over-quantitative Chain Reaction—I'd say that, given the YouTube play counts for a lot of these tracks, that most of them are a tad bit obscure too 👍.

But while almost all of these tunes are by German acts that were released by German labels, the track that we happen to kick off with here, an eleven-plus minute piece of acid-drenched sci-fi psychosis from 1993 called "Blanche," by a short-lived duo from Mainz who called themselves Purple Plejade, is not from a German label at all, but is instead from a Dutch label called Djax-Up-Beats. Purple Plejade was made up of a couple notable German techno names in Holger Wick and Thomas P. Heckmann, but the two of them together only put out a couple of 12-inches, and "Blanche" was their first. Now, there's a scratchy ten-minute version of this song that's already on YouTube, that I think was uploaded back when the maximum length of your video could only be ten minutes, and that thing has over 41,000 plays on it. But this *full,* extra-minute-plus affair, as Gott originally intended it to be heard, only has under 11,000 plays across a bunch of different YouTube uploads, by comparison.

Now let's talk about a couple other favorites on here: one floor-stomper and one that's headily sublime. The floor-stomper comes courtesy of Bad Nauheim's Patrick Lindsey, who in 1996 released a 12-inch called The Phat Jive on Harthouse. And the title track on that release is what you get when you pair some melody that's reminiscent of a theme song from one of those syndicated reality court shows that airs on TV in the afternoons with some snaky, beeping synths and smacking four-on-the-floor percussion to then overwhelm it. A unique fucking banger that's sitting at over 1,300 plays.

And for that headily sublime one, which closes us out, we have a tune from Berlin's DisX3, aka Alexander Kowalski, who in 1999 put out a 12-inch on Tresor called Sequenzed_Function E.P., which kicked off its b-side with "Bored Meat." This stunner's loaded up with a fuck-ton of Richter scale-registering drums to form its rhythmic foundation, but where it really kills is with its weakly plonking, contrastingly high-pitched synth melody that gets placed atop of it all, while including a bunch of jingling hi-hats too. Basically, if you really love yourself some techno music, this is a track that should simply pierce your mechanically-made soul 🤤. And it's only been listened to less than ten thousand times on YouTube!

I'd be interested to hear about your dragon au! I've loved dragons longer than I've loved trains!

(In all honesty, though... I am poking around at writing a ttte dragon au as well, but if mine ends up being too similar to yours, I can change mine - I don't want to steal/copy your ideas in any way and I am so sorry if it might end up seeming like that at any point. I dont know - or really care to be honest - who came up with the idea first, I will just do my best not to copy your ideas)

So, let's see now. Where to start.

So the AU is called The Dragons Of Muffle Mountain. Or alternatively, Sodor Dragons. It's basically Thomas And The Magic Rail Road, mixed with Wings of Fire... And pretty much all the TTTE movies. Yeah, it's crazy.😂

The island of Sodor is a bit different than in the series. For starters, there's no humans there in this AU! The island of Sodor is a magical dragon sanctuary, created by Lady. And in this story her name is Lady Arcana, the Golden Dragon. She's the Dragon Spirit of Life! And her enemy is Lord Draavil. (Aka Diesel 10!) He was the Dragon Spirit of Death. But more on that later.

Anyways, Lady created a life source for the island that is very powerful and keeps the island hidden from humans via a thick ring of magic mist. The Gold Dust Spring! And one Dragon Clan took it up on themselves to guard it. The Gold Scale Clan. Which is the clan Thomas and his friends are from! All Gold Scale Dragons have shining gold on some part of their body. Like in this concept of Thomas here!

Once you join their clan, you get some gold coloration, signifying your connection with the spring and Lady. Thomas is actually a very special dragon because he is Lady's next Champion. Edward was the last one and he trains him in this story to fight a mysterious dark force that was prophesied to attack!

Other Characters from the series have clans too. The narrow gauge engines are a mountain clan, and the Godreds Castle crew have a clan too! And diesels have a clan as well. The Iron Hide Clan. They serve as the main antagonists for a good chunk of the story. (Especially Diesel. Who's a evil dragon sorcerer in this!)

So that's just the tip of the ice berg! I actually have WAY more story and lore than that. I've been working on this for a very long time. (Since I was literally a kid.🤣) So I have plenty to share! Also, since this is a dragon AU, some of the stories might be changed slightly to fit the continuity and theme better.
