The next morning you woke up to a pounding headache trying to force your brain out of its place. You didn't know where you were and you didn't even remember getting home. Your last memory was of you and Alec having a conversation on Magnus' ancient looking couch. You tried to sit up as slowly as you could physically manage, not to make your headache any worse. As you looked around the room, you realised you were in the institute, however you weren't in your own room. It was more like...

"Alec's room?" You squealed in surprise and fell off of the bed as you jumped in shock. You started massaging your backside, when Alec's face appeared above you, looking down at you.

He barely opened his eyes, his shiny black hair was all over the place and his confused, sleepy expression made you want to cup his face and touch his lips with yours. But as the recent light of your situation started to register in your head, you realised, that might not be the best idea. After all you didn't even know what happened the night before, or how you even ended up in Alec's room.

"What are you doing down there?" His voice was deep and hoarse. You couldn't take your eyes off of him. You have imagined his sleepy face while waking up next to him. You have imagined his rough morning voice as he was still half asleep. You have imagined every inch of his body cuddling you while he was trying to get himself out of bed. But this scenario has exceeded all your expectations. It was more than what you could have ever wished for. "Y/N." He tried again. This time successfully pulling you out of your daze.

"Yeah?" You asked uncertain if you were dreaming.

"What are you doing down there?" He repeated sitting up on the side of the bad. That's when you have realised he was only wearing his pyjama bottom. You have seen him half naked before, when you were training together and that was already a very hard task to make yourself focus. But this time, even the air stuck in your throat as you looked him up and down. "You are making me uncomfortable." He said, but you didn't care. You tried to carve every inch of his body into your mind. You didn't want to forget even the slightest details. "Y/N." His voice was firm this time and you finally realised how inappropriate your behaviour was.

"Yeah?" You repeated yourself stupidly again while finally looking straight into his eyes. "I fell." You couldn't force yourself to actually create a coherent sentence. His presence was way too powerful in your brain. However you shook yourself, took a deep breath and decided to look away. It seemed to have worked as your brain started functioning better again. "Why am I in your room?" You asked curiously. You enjoyed the situation, but you still haven't had a clue how you could have possibly ended up in his room, let alone in his bed.

"You got drunk, Y/N." He started, but he stopped as a frown appeared in between his eyebrows. "Not even drunk. You were wasted." He nodded, but it was more to himself than to you. "I tried to make you go to your room, but you have lost the key and I didn't plan to kick in your door 5am on the morning." He explained calmly while looking at you fidgeting. "Clary was sleeping in Jace's room, while Simon took Clary's room, so I had to abandoned those ideas too. I was trying to get into Izzy's room as she decided to sleep in one of her friend's house, but she locked the door and took the key too." You chuckled at his naivety.

"Right. Friend." You smirked. Alec knew what you meant, but he ignored your comment on purpose.

"So I only had one option left. I took you in for the night. Clary changed your cloths so I didn't touch you, don't worry." He put his hands in front of him innocently. Not like you would have mind anyway. More fantasies to daydream about. "But then you seemed to be very much awake, not wanting to sleep. I offered you the bed, so you could sleep comfortably. But you decided to crawl under my blanket and join me on the couch. I, then came back to the bed to let you sleep on the couch, but you followed me here too. Let's just say we were playing this game for a good few minutes. Then I got fed up, put you to bed and decided to sleep there as well. But you are very hard to deal with when you are drunk." He stated while smirking to himself. You knew he wasn't mad. You could have sworn he actually enjoyed it. But then again, unfortunately you couldn't remember.

"Did I...?" You started, but then stopped to think if you should have continued. "Did I try to do anything to you?" You asked grimacing.

"Do you think I would have slept next to you half naked on my own accords?" He asked and you went crimson red in nanoseconds. You felt your face heat up and decided to hide yourself with the blanket.

"By the Angel, Alec I'm so sorry." You whispered, but he could clearly hear you. Teasing him was one of your favourite hobbies, but you never thought you had gone that far. You heard Alec's chuckle and pulled the cover off your face until you were covered only from your nose. "What?" You asked sheepishly.

"Nothing. You were just funny." He smirked at you and you just pulled back the cover to hide yourself. You wanted to look at his handsome face and cheeky smile, but your embarrassment was greater. "Don't worry, nothing happened." He reassured you. You pulled down the cover and sat up to look at him like a mature adult, instead of hiding.

"That's not even what I'm worried about." You stated as he raised an eyebrow at your reply. "I know you, you wouldn't do anything if I was under the influence. But I behaved like a caveman." His deep chuckle made you want to burry yourself. You stood up trying to get out of the situation, but immediately regretted it when your head started pounding. You were about to lose your balance, when Alec stood up quickly and caught you by your waist. He made you stand back up, stabilising your body. You were in the same level as his well built chest muscles and you weren't sure where to look not to go bright red again. "Would you mind putting on a shirt?" You asked bravely. You didn't dare to look up at first, but when you finally did, you couldn't take your eyes off of his smug grin. You knew he enjoyed the situation and you didn't understand why. Alec was Mr. Serious. Everything had to happen by the books and everyone had to stay emotionless and serious at all times, focused on missions that weren't even in plan yet. But for some reason, he was very into the situation and it just confused you. "Why are you smirking at me?" You questioned his behaviour, but he didn't answer. "By the Angel, Alec put on a god damn shirt." He laughed out loud, but let go of your waist and went to get a shirt. "What's so funny?" You asked as you started getting agitated.

"Nothing. It's just funny to see you all flustered." He chuckled as he put on one of his black tight shirts. Your eyes widened at his reply.

"I'm happy you find enjoyment in it, however I don't, that much." You said sighing.

"I already sent an email out for a locksmith, so I'm assuming you already have access to your room." He explained and you felt like you were being kicked out.

"Next time just say it clearly if you want to get rid of me." You said pouting and took your cloths from the armrest of one of the sofas.

"You know that's not what I meant." He said gently, but even though he has tried to take it back, you already decided in your stubborn little brain that he meant it the way you thought. Without a second glance you walked out of Alec's room and headed to yours. You just wanted to take a shower, eat something and take a medicine to get rid of the pounding feeling in your head.

I made a decision and here I am yet again with a new character. I did plan on this before my awkwardly long hiatus, and for once it’s a boi who’s been under development for a long, long while. (Fun fact: Could you guess that I was about to bring in Kieran before Casey since Case was just a background character?? Roll d20 for wow factor)

I’ll add some bullet points below because they’re easy. Don’t expect anything fancy, I still have a whole lot of mystery I want to keep intact lmao

Kieran has only just moved to New York, which means he’s only been around for a couple of days.

He was released from prison only a month ago, and only had the opportunity to move because he has a brother who started saving money for his immigration a long time ago, back when he was still rich.

He has no job, but as an ex-con he knows his way around drugs, survival, and running from the law so finding a job within those branches is a plan. Anyone need a locksmith?

He was a cocaine addict back in Australia, even before he was convicted. Got clean during his sentence but relapsed as soon as he got out, still keeping it a secret from Casey. Now when in NYC, he’s decided to keep up that hobby.

The cocaine use combined with hard time in the slammer is also the reason why he looks so much older than he actually is.

Afflictive(synonym of desperate); causing pain, distress or grief, distressing, still not sure I’m there, I will try. Desperate and pathetic would be the definition next to beard von glitz in the dictionary. I’ll add attention seeking. I have felt more definition is needed because the definition is not just about her. It’s a but her actions. Afflictive fits, she truly likes to cause pain to the max. She knows how D and how B feels! I’m not going to break it down, it’s been talked about, discussed, philosophyized ad nosium. She continues on HER path. She literally causes the max pain to D because in essence he hates her, she created this, yet does not understand reaction vs action. She literally causes “heart” pain to B because in essence he loves her, don’t know, don’t want to know why. Yet does not understand the love he offers. She does not care to evaluate her circumstance, she will lose her focus on her path to… destruction. She puts up picture facades of a relationship she will never have. And ignores that B is waving his flag in front of her. She decides when B is worth her attention, in that moment in time. It’s not just about desperation and attention. It is about the pain she can cause. She wants to “make” everyone see her, feel her. Because she cannot see or feel herself. I am not going to philosophiz or try to understand why, that is her responsibility. She needs to put on her big girl panties and deal. Life is not one big party, as she believes. It is full of decissions, errands, bills, other’s needs, taking care of those we love, not just having them take care of you. This has gone on to long, giving her the attention she so needs, craves. Grow up beard von glitz. We all have to do it some time.

I think Chris describes her best in TLOS2: The Enchantress Returns. The chapter is entitled “Jar of Souls” and it is Ezmia recounting her story of why she collects souls as it is “a bit of a hobby...”

You know the phrase forgive and forget? Well I've always disagreed with it-I found it impossible actually. People would do me wrong and then forget about me, as if their actions didn't matter-because I didn't matter. How was I supposed to forgive people like that?

I found taking away their life force to be much more appealing than simply forgiving. To forgive would be to allow them to continue living their lives, free of consequences. But by taking their sous and preventing them all future happiness, I could heal and find peace.

I don't want the world to understand; I want it to grovel.

Now this section of the story is very close to my heart, you see, because inside these jars on my mantel are the souls of five men who unwisely broke it. One man who never loved me, one man who couldn't live me, one man who loved me too much, one man who loved me in secret, and one who didn't love me enough...

It should be noted that each of these men, in some way, are Darren, the baker who played games with her heart; the locksmith who could not look her in the eye or touch her with affection; the musician who wasn’t in love with her but with what she could provide who eventually cheated; the soldier who was ashamed of their relationship; and the king who only ever wanted friendship and never her loved her in the manner she loved him, even when she tried to give him a love potion.

That's when I leaned that taking the high road would never give me the same satisfaction as getting even.

I decided from then on if the world was going to speak my name it would be whispered in fear rather than mocked with envy. If the world was going to take all the joy from me, I would simply take away all the joy from the world.

> Run to the store over lunch break to pick up a few things. While shoving said things into my trunk, drop my keys inside. Of course I don't notice until I shut the lid.

> Call co-worker/neighbor to ask for a ride to our apartment building so I can grab my spare car key from the junk drawer in my kitchen

> She reminds me that we carpooled today. With my car. But she kindly finds a second co-worker to come rescue me

> On the way to the apartment, it occurs to me that the pile of keys in my trunk also include my apartment keys

> Luckily the assistant manager of the complex is around and lets me in with the master key

> Tfw no spare car key in the junk drawer :(

A coffee shop is, perhaps, not quite where Lucky pictured himself ending up in life but if he really considers it, there are worse options. He meets some fascinating customers in there, after all. One of those had been one Stella Maddox. It could only have been his third or fourth shift in there, and his bright smile and amiable demeanour seemed to make regular customers warm to him pretty promptly. On that particular day, Stella had walked in and, as he would with any other customer, Lachlan had stricken up a conversation. What was different about Stella, though, was that she actually engaged in conversation with him. A lot of people, they were too busy going about their daily lives to bother uttering anything more than a ‘morning’ or a ‘thank you’. Not Stella, though; since she frequented the coffee shop, the pair seemed to converse about a whole manner of things, from the weather to her latest book. Lachlan would consider her an acquaintance at the least, almost a friend at the most. On one fateful day, however, Lucky hadn’t been so lucky. It had been a stupid mistake - one he’d never made before, one he’s never made since, and one that could’ve disintegrated his life in a matter of moments, had Stella not stayed quiet. He’d left his phone on the counter.

Now, for the context behind this dreadful mistake. The Locksmith had, as expected, received countless requests from people over time, asking him to help them get revenge on exes or family members. One of those such enquiries happened to be from Stella. The crisis had occurred when Lachlan had been serving the girl, chattering away nonchalantly as he always did while he worked. She’d been on her phone while he served her. Obviously, he’d paid her no mind.

Within a matter of milliseconds, the phone beside Lachlan on the counter buzzed. A message. His screen had illuminated and there it was; the message from Stella. He’d tried to grab his device, of course he had, but she’d seen it. The look on her face said she’d seen it. In the days following the incident, Stella demanded that Lachlan told her everything about what he’d been doing over the years, or she’d take the information she had so far to the police.

Once he’d told her everything, she’d promised him that she wouldn’t say anything. Hell, Lachlan could’ve been staring at the four walls of a prison cell by now if she’d let anything slip. Then, to make matters worse, she’d disappeared. One of the only things worse than someone knowing your deepest, darkest secret was that person disappearing.

Now she’s returned, Lachlan is just confused and concerned. He has no choice but to comply with whatever the hell Stella asks him to do, but he’s certain of one thing - He damn sure that he wishes she’d stayed missing.

Born twenty-two years ago, in Lower Whitecraigs of Scotland, was Lachlan McAvoy. Raised in a positively middle-class family with two brothers and a dog, life was pretty normal. Sickeningly so. Despite being the second-born of three sons, middle child syndrome is an entirely foreign concept to him and, if anything, he’s the polar opposite of the stereotypical ‘middle child’.

Despite his nickname, life wasn’t always an easy ride for Lucky. Sure, he excelled throughout school and socialising was an aspect that seemed to come naturally to him. If you were to ask him, he’d tell you that school was a breeze; so much so that it bored him.

However, at home, the once-happy McAvoy household was gradually deteriorating into a broken home. Moira was able to find an excuse to argue with Jasper about anything, whether it was how many carrots to peel for the stew or the meaning of life itself. Lachlan and his eldest brother watched their family fall apart, a seething resentment for their mother beginning to surface. More frequently than ever was Moira disappearing on ‘business trips’, and the boys began to accept a life without their mother around often. For Lachlan, school became an escape route from it all, allowing him to focus his energy on bettering himself and excelling in everything. He and his brother were sent to a private, boarding school in the hope that they wouldn’t notice their parents’ tragic marriage, but the days and weeks they spent at home during the school holidays told them everything they needed to know.

As the arguments and the clearly dysfunctional relationship between his parents continued, so did Lucky’s determination to push himself academically. It was during his first year of secondary school that he developed a keen interest in computers though, wanting to know every minor detail of how they worked, and at age 12 he built his first PC. As his parents argued, Lucky buried his nose in books and computers. It wasn’t until years later, however, that the true significance of his hobby would come to light.

One eve during the summer holidays, following a particularly ghastly altercation between his parents, Lachlan decided to peruse a little information of his own. A few measly moments later, and much to his delight, he uncovered indisputable evidence of his mother’s affair with another man. The news didn’t come as a surprise to his father, but it was the final dagger in their already tenuous relationship. Mere months later, the divorce had been settled and Jasper was raising both boys as a single father. Years passed by before Jasper remarried and had another son.

There wasn’t a single part of Lachlan that felt guilty for exposing his mother’s affair; as far as he was concerned, she had it coming. It had a much greater impact on him than anyone could’ve predicted though, but not in the way that one would perhaps anticipate. The feeling of accomplishment he felt after revealing his mother’s secret was one that he sought for the many years following his parents’ divorce, and his targets only grew in magnitude.

What began as the simple divulgence of information escalated into something much greater, and the best part about it was that nobody had a clue. Operating under the online handle of ‘The Locksmith’, he began leaking information about fraudulent CEOs, corrupt politicians, and taking down controversial websites with DDoS attacks. If the media and law enforcement wouldn’t do anything about these issues, someone had to… Right? He didn’t do it for the power, or the control, or even for the thrill. These people were deserving of everything Lachlan did and remorse was entirely out of the picture.

The Locksmith was a part of Lachlan’s life that he shared with nobody – not his father, not his brothers, and not his friends. They still knew him as the same old Lachlan that he’d always been; warm, down-to-earth and confident. Beneath it all though, nobody really knew the other side Lachlan and increasingly, that was just the way he liked it. He knew how to talk people around and keep his friends close, telling them what they wanted to hear to avoid any awkward questions.

Upon finishing college in Scotland, Lachlan and a group of his friends made the decision to take a gap year and go travelling together, a dream they’d shared for years whilst growing up. On their travels, the group found themselves in New York. Despite staying there for less than a week, Lucky already knew that he didn’t want to go back home.

Within a few years, he was living in New York, where he studied Computer Science at Ithaca College and secretly kept up his online profile as The Locksmith.

Now, just a couple of years after graduating from college, Lachlan is living in a slightly nicer apartment, working as a barista at Artopolis Espresso and, most importantly, The Locksmith is as active as ever. He’s even in a position to take on 'clients’ - those who seek revenge on people who’ve wronged them in the past.
