What if the "hexagon" thing happened instead of Ninja Storm?

Ooh boy this was a long one, kinda went crazy with this but enjoy ✨✨✨✨

-Takes places soon after Forever Red due to Tommy getting a little weary from the machine empire's short-lived return. The other Reds get a little involved but Tommy himself eventually takes control.

-Getting old mentors and some government officials they make a team of sorts. Well the reason why Hexagon is made was to have a specific team up to call when big threats in space and on earth occur, they needed a specific team so contacting Billy and Ninjor they get together to make new morphers based on both their ninja powers and the elements.

-Ninjor has them also connected to animal motifs, well that of ancient zords locked away(Liveman was actually what inspired the motif in the Hurricanger so lets say their team adapted here were the original owners). Of course Tommy seeks out a team, he settles with the following, Scott as the red ranger, Flynn as the blue ranger and Summer as the yellow ranger.

-All three of them have their own upbringing, Scott was already brought in via the military due to his dad but wanted something bigger to show that he wasn't a disappointment. Flynn is eager to be a hero and didn't want to pass up this opportunity of possibly going through space as well, Summer felt as if she needed the experience but also her lofty connections were used since she really wanted to try out being a ranger.

-the season shows the team working well while also having to abide by the rules of Hexagon. Getting some cameos of old teams, but also learning about their ninja like power and growing a little skeptical about Hexagon as a whole. Things hit the fan when two sealed powers of thunder and lightning are stolen, Ninjor was killed trying to keep them concealed and the culprits have yet to be found.

-its revealed that it was Ziggy the Crimson Ranger and Dillon the Navy Ranger both taken in by the new UAE as dark rangers. They both have their own reasons for aiding the villains of this season.

-Ziggy's family or lack there of with the orphanage he grew up with were killed during Tommy's green ranger rampage a few years ago prompting a hatred for both him and rangers as they just took him in without consequence so seeing the man on such a high position makes his blood boil. Dillon and Tenaya were also a part of the orphanage but Tenaya was only placed in a coma due to her injuries.

-taking their chances they went on Terra Venture in hopes to find some planet or known group that would be able to take in some humans that were looking to get a big of revenge and luckily they joined a small faction of ninjas working with the new united alliance of evil. Within one of their tasks they were sent to fight Ninjor which proved to be a tough fight but they caught him off guard and stole the morphers thus becoming rangers. This new leader of the UAE also tasked the two with fighting minor threats on earth before other ranger teams could handle it.

-this was done in order to shift perception to make it seem as if these mysterious rangers were actually their allies, in return it caused a few teams to have a few arguments and after all the conflicts Hexagon was thrown into chaos. For the next arc of the season the main team with Scott, Flynn and Summer also began questioning few things about where their help was getting them, the argument about "which side are you on" continued to grow only uglier and they were placed in the crossfire as the past ranger teams started fighting.

-Tommy himself developed a new power disc during the little war, he used an old swallow animal zord that Ninjor didn't prioritize and also took in some of the latent energy from Zordon's energy wave to tap into pure energy from the grid thus making the green samurai ranger morpher. This in return drew in a certain old ally of Ninjor to the planet, Dulcea. With Tommy as the new green ranger she decided that since earth nearly got taken apart during the ranger war that she'd become the new mentor.

-As things start to regain some normality Tommy is eventually bombarded with targeted attacks by Ziggy and Dillon until they reveal what happened. He nearly gets taken out if it wasn't for the three main rangers stopping the two and bringing them into custody. While on a ranger trial with Hexagon they are pestered with questions and how could they cause such distress yet they shoot back with any guilt rangers feel from their damage done to cities, the lives they ruin and also the idea of idolizing false justice in the world. Zordon erased a bunch of lives but were they all inherently evil? Did he brainwash a bunch of people into a set idea of good he had, it makes everyone especially Tommy question the idea behind themselves being rangers.

-They escape but instead kind of become anti hero like forces for the Hexagon team. Still having a rivalry feeling for Tommy(specifically Ziggy giving off a sort of green on green standoff for this what if scenario), Dillon gets to visit Tenaya who with Hexagon's aid were able to stabilize her condition. Due to the hatred of Tommy simmering for Dillon Ziggy ends up feeling betrayed and goes back to the UAE.

-The UAE itself is actually ran by a leader known as "The Enchantress". The Enchantress's true identity is that of Kimberly Hart, well a variant from a different universe who had to experience a more destructive and sinister version of Tommy. She ended up falling into The Void and getting corrupted by the dark energy there from dead dimensions and such, slowly gazing into other universes with various Tommy Oliver's, one was home to that of Lord Drakkon and even the Ranger Slayer. It was settled that in her mind the multiverse along with the Grid itself had cracks in it, issues that needed to be settled and in her eyes she could be the one to fix it.

-the biggest issue being Tommy, finding a portal a after many years she ended up in the main universe and with her new powers took under a pseudonym being The Enchantress. She'd eat away at Tommy's guilt and and with all the infighting from the rangers occurring she'd be able to utilize the grid's influx of energy to pretty much delete his existence overall. The final arc deals with each of the ranger teams getting captured except for Hexagon, their powers were being siphoned off to The Void so Kim could connect it to the grid and do her plan, on the planet where the final showdown takes place we see the six rangers have some internal struggles against Kim as she closes in on Tommy.

-they were all brought here due to the impact of power rangers and with Tommy's influence he managed to get them all weaved in on his own issues. She felt some pity for Ziggy and Dillon due to their situation hence why she wanted to help them enact their revenge but even then they feel a little betrayed on both ends, Scott, Flynn and Summer were all in it to do some good with the world but were exposed to some of the harsher sides in being a ranger and even then they didn't really feel directed off the main idea of trying to help people. Tommy on the other hand thought about the other versions of himself out there...he couldn't really be held liable for their actions but again just seeing how much of an impact he has amongst other worlds, it all makes him feel conflicted.

-Eventually both this version of Kim and Tommy would go into The Void to deactivate the effects of her plan but in the aftermath they were both caught in the explosion, they took in the energy from this and a sort of pseudo z wave goes off throughout the grid. This caused any of the world that his evil counterparts destroyed to be rebuilt and any of those dark counterparts(like drakkon) would be purged from existence.

-Tommy himself would die from this but he'd be turned into a sort of ranger emissary swearing to go from universe to universe keeping keeping eye on the other versions of himself promising Kimberly that he'd do what he does best, being a hero when it duty calls.

-Kimberly on the other hand was purified of the dark energy and decided to go out to explore other universes. Live the life that was robbed of her years ago, maybe even rebuild her own world.

-With that the remaining Hexagon rangers freed the teams and there was a memorial placed in for any lives lost along with Tommy's own sacrifice. Hexagon itself would be ran by Scott as the organization eventually evolved into new factions such as SPD, Flynn went on to continue being a ranger as he had fun helping everyone, Summer kinda settled down retiring from the ranger business so that she she embark on a few new adventures awaiting her. Tenaya eventually woke up to Dillon's surprise and with that they went with Ziggy to see what they missed on earth.

This season kind of acts as both a little semi finale to the Zordon and Fox Era overall but also opening up a new path for the Disney era. Kimberly’s design and stuff here also kinda takes some inspo from Salem in RWBY👌🏾

In this post, I'm gonna talk about my weird, old Teen Titans OCs and headcanons from years ago. To this day, Scorpion, Melodea and Cadenza are the only ones I kept, but here are the rest.

Melodea was originally gonna be part of this team called the X Geodes. And let me tell you- my TT characters were racially/ethnically diverse, but the problem is that I didn't put enough thought into their backgrounds and wrote them poorly.

It was led by Xander, aka Mayor X, who was the son of the mayor of Baltimore, Maryland. He was a non-superpowered demolitions expert with a hankering for violence. His whole theming/aesthetic was pretty much a Red X ripoff with added dynamite.

There was also Timberboy, aka Timothy, a health-knowledgeable nature hero whose powers were similar to Poison Ivy's. He could grow different types of trees and wild plants (not domestic ones), and they came from a green crystal he wore around his neck. He had a pet snail named Rex. He was Filipino-American and was from California.

MysTerry, aka Terry Lake, who had slate gray skin and black and white hair (one on each side). He was a young wizard. His magic worked in an opposite way to Jinx's, because his main thing was casting good luck charms. He could also change people's clothing. He was British-American and from New York.

Papergirl, aka Pippa Vazquez, the youngest member. Her suit gave her the ability to fold herself into any paper shape. She could also draw things on her suit and make them come to life. She was Mexican-American and from Texas.

I also gave Scorpion a cousin.

Her name was Zephyr, aka Isa Doyle. Scorpion is of French descent, but Isa is, like, half-French, half-Irish. Scorpion is from Arizona while Zephyr is from Galway. Basically, she could control wind. While Scorpion got her powers after being stung by a scorpion, Zephyr was born with hers. She was the Princess Daisy to Scorpion's Princess Peach, in terms of their personalities.

Also, there were Chime and Gong.

Chime, aka Brian Zhong, and Gong, aka Lucy Zhong, were a pair of Chinese-American twins who liked to watch TV together. I forgot what US state they were from. Their powers involved making things happen by playing bianzhong and a gong. Control Freak gave them their powers. He transported them into a show they liked where two characters did that same thing.

I made FIVE characters based on how weirdly obsessed I was with See-More. I absolutely would have denied it back then, but I think that was because I had a crush on him. (I even had Scorpion date him in Season 3, but they broke up during Season 4 or 5. We don't talk when I did that.) I gave him a cousin and also made four characters based on the other four senses.

His cousin was named Salome, aka Exci D. She was Haitian because I headcanoned See-More to be of Haitian descent for some reason. She had one eye. Her powers involved her making things fall apart when she touched them. She was born with those powers. Unlike her cousin, she wasn't a villain and was an Honorary Titan. She was a big fan of C-Pop, J-Pop and K-Pop, so her outfit made her look like an idol.

As for the other sense-based characters, the one based on hearing was Audiosa, aka Gloriosa Rivera. Her ears were really big, and she had the power of supersonic hearing. She was from Salamanca, Spain. She can be compared to Dolores because she's also a Hispanic girl with super hearing, but Encanto wasn't known yet at the time of Audiosa's creation. Also, she was bi.

Tastebud, aka Rosalie Shirinova, was based on taste. She was Aleutian. She had highly developed taste buds, and I think she was armed with food-themed weapons. She was also a lesbian.

Tochit, aka Sentry Kakoso, was based on touch. He was Tanzanian. He could feel things without directly touching them and had telekinesis. He wore these gauntlets on his hands. Also, for some reason, he had three eyes.

Whiffer, aka Dani Shamoun, was based on smell. He was from Abu Dhabi, UAE. He had these pads on his nose that he built himself, allowing him to absorb smells and release them.

I just made my characters' heritage come from random places for no reason. Padparadscha, aka Padma Kumar, might be the most egregious example of this.

Padparadscha's whole thing was her being half-angel and half-demon, but I tried SO HARD to make her some kind of Hindu mythology equivalent of that. She was raised by an Indian family in Sri Lanka. She, Zephyr and Exci D were good pals.

The worst part about all of this is that she was my PERSONA character (the OC representing me). I have no idea why I chose to do that. If I make a new Teen Titans persona one day, she's gonna be white like me.

Also, I once headcanoned that the HIVE Academy had a band class. Here's what everyone, including my old characters, played:

Idea for a DC Comics Event Comic: “What if the super villains were the ones that go through a civil war between them instead of the heroes?”

  Rather than an idea for the actual published material we get from the mainline of DC Comics as of ‘Infinite Frontier’and their upcoming ‘Dark Crisis’ Event this year, this pertains to a long series of posts on my blog in which detail an outline what I would’ve done if I were Editor-in-Chief at DC back when the 2011 reboot was initiated up to the present day. Needlessly to say, there’s already a lot that I have proposed and discussed among my colleagues and mutuals on this website. From the actual books in this hypothetical reboot that launch at first, ideas for storylines across various titles and much more, this hypothetical thought experiment has seen plenty, even it’s own first event comic ‘Dawn of Fire’

I��m sure I missed a post or two but enough riff-raff, to catch us up to speed at this point 

 + While the wedding set up at the end of ‘Dawn of Fire’ between Nightwing and Starfire will still happen down the line (Personally, I’d have finally go down with a four part crossover of Issue #75 of Starfire, Nightwing, Titans and Justice Titans, but we’ll discuss that later, patience ;-) ), delays and events in their in the meantime persist. 

 + On that note of delays and events, Dick has decided to temporarily drop the Nightwing mantle due to the events of Clipped Wings and Blue Hawk Down until his emotional and mental health can recover. I’d decide to have him basically written out of the books until the the time is right. Till then, he’ll mostly focus on running Haly Circus whom he now has ownership and recently gave them a permanent home in Bludhaven. In Kory’s case, due to related to events on a joint Titans mission on Tamaran, she still operates as a local hero of Bludhaven by daytime while taking a temporary leave from the Titans for her own emotional recovery. In Dick’s place in protecting Bludhaven at night and leader of the Justice Titans, Tim Drake volunteers in taking the mantle. Terra (here heavily based on her 2003 Animated series counterpart, post-Judas Contract but kept hidden in-universe of this reboot out of guilt for what she did under Deathstroke’s apprenticeship)  will take over Kory’s role in the meantime. 

 + Since Tim has taken over the Nightwing mantle, Damian returns from his solo hero work in Dubai, UAE back to Gotham to fill in as the Robin that fights alongside Batman. Young Justice though is still also led by Tim, though now that leadership is shared with Cassie Sandsmark aka Wondergirl. 

 + Meanwhile, the ‘B-Team’ Titans are split up with Troia, Bumblebee, Herald and Tempest on one side, still operating under the traditional style of super heroics when crime fighting whereas Red Arrow, now going by Arsenal, has splintered off into his own faction of quasi-antiheroes including his ex Cheshire to partake in more proactive crime fighting measures, often more harsher tactics and intimidation stopping just shy of killing their enemies. 

 + Finally, the Flash aka Wally West, recently traveled through space and time to pick up the Silver Age Teen Titans out of their time period into the current present in which they elect to stay and do what they can to both set this future right and learn from it to ensure such mistakes won’t happen once they return home; Tempest serves as tier mission control and teacher. As for Wally though, during a storyline in The Flash book, he loses his connection to the Speed Force and inadvertently gave it a super villain in a otherwise successful gamble to save his family. 

 Now for the build up to this event; Ever since the ending of ‘Dawn of Fire’, with so much of the Commonwealth's technology and pockets of mystical energy spread across the globe, numerous Earth based super villains have trying to get their hands on it for the individual and nefarious goals. For the longest time in this rebooted timeline, a good portion of the villains operated with insurance and protection under the Secret Society of Supervillains, an alliance between Lex Luthor and Ra’s al Ghul for the purpose of being an effective counter against the Justice League and the Titans. However, even prior but especially after the events of ‘Dawn of Fire’, a fracture begins to form between the two leaders of the Secret Society; Ra’s pertains his methods for the well intentioned goal of ensuring the planet’s environmental future even if human civilization and advancement must be dialed back a good bit while Lex firmly is set on a goal of having Earth become the primer planetary superpower of the DCU with him and himself at the helm. 

  The two begin forming their own core teams and alliances with other villains that match in line with their respective goals or at least a stronger connection with. As this went on, shortly after the events of Blue Hawk Down conclude with one of the hired villains from that arc, Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke the Terminator, realizing via the super villain grapevine of this shifting and splintering of villains into alliances. Once approached by agents of both Ra’s’ and Luthor’s factions on which side he can join, Deathstroke bluntly tells them both to not be approached again or else suffer consequences. He has no desire or time for this petty squabbling, he’d rather stick with an agenda of his own, operate on his own accord. Over time and the over the course of the leading up into the event proper, Slade is joined by more other like minded villains with have no desire to join Ra’s or Luthor; eventually this group forms into a faction of their own, equal in number and power to Ra’s’ and Luthor’s, with Deathstroke at the head of it despite not realizing it. 

  Thus, in the final two months before the event begins proper, the Secret Society of Supervillains is dissolved, leaving in it’s wake three villain groups:

  The Light; Core members including Vandal Savage, Queen Bee, Cierce, Professor Hugo Strange, Ocean Master, Black Adam, and Ra’s al Ghul all each sharing common leadership. They are the ‘Anti-Villain’ faction, villains who do their deeds for a well intentioned or at least a reasonable enough cause. In this case, they share a common goal of bringing human civilization in which a more utopian vision in which lives in perfect harmony with the planet itself, seeing both Lex’s faction and the ‘Detective’s’ (Batman’s) Justice League as obstacles. 

  Definace; Deathstroke’s not so merry band of uncooperative villains who have no desire to join either Ra’s or Luthor, connected via their shared mutual defiance (as per their faction name) to anyone or anything lording over them. Above all else, these villains are in a meta sense the ones that were formally introduced from 1980 onward, representing the second half of DC Comics history, Deathstroke himself being the most prominent and one of the first. Other villains in this section include but are not limited to Blockbuster, Victor Zsasz, Maxwell Lord, Bane, Brother Blood, Anarky, Livewire, Lobo, The Wildebeest Society, The Fearsome/HIVE Five (Gizmo, Jinx, Mammoth, Psimon and led by Phobia) and Prometheus. 

and lastly, 

  The Legion of Doom; Led by Lex Luthor with core members including The Joker, Cheetah, Sinestro, Gorilla Grodd, Black Manta, and Giganta, this group is the ‘Classic Villain’ faction in which through their own goals, agendas and in the Joker’s case a craving for fun in the chaos that comes from it all, they serve Luthor’s goal of turning Earth into an intergalactic superpower with him at the top, crushing any to all opposition that will stand in their way. Other notable members of this group include Doctor Polaris, Doctor Light, The Turtle, Captain Cold, Deadshot, Killer Frost, Solomon Grundy, The Penguin, Weather Wizard, Metallo, Parasite, Intergang, Amazo, and so many more. 

 As tensions rise between these three groups with their members from each running into one another during schemes and plots, an unwillingness to cooperate against the heroes and numerous conferences and reconciliation attempts ending in failure, a tiny spark can ignite this powder keg into an explosion of a crisis unseen in the DCU. A spark one final faction will use to its own advantage.

  That group being the Court of Owls. 

This cabal armed with highly skilled basically-immortal assassins at their beckoned call, for the longest time a true challenge for Nightwing and the Justice Titans, can see the figurative overcast, dark clouds gather and rather than go dark themselves until either an inevitable war or even peace between the factions eventually come through , they will instead initiate an incident that’ll get the factions to destroy one another , leaving only them as the premier foes of the heroes instead.

Thus, I now introduce this hypothetical Reboot’s second major event comic

WAR OF THE VILLAINS

In basics layman’s terms, the Supervillain equivalent of Civil War. 

  - Much similar to ‘Dawn of Fire’, Issue #1 of this event is released on Free Comic Book Day

- In said first issue, an inciting incident begins the event proper when two D-List members of the Light and the Legion of Doom collide with each other during a plot in Bludhaven. Despite Nightwing!Tim’s efforts to quell the fighting and take them both down, one villain maims the other. Very quickly, almost over the course of a week, the two villain factions come to a head over this incident and it quickly escalates from there. Soon other clashes and incidents between the Light and the Legion of Doom start breaking out across the world, each with further damage, injuries and other grievous results. Finally, a chance meeting between Ra’s Al Ghul and Lex Luthor in light of the growing incidents, one last attempt to broker peace between them takes place at LexCorp HQ. To put mildly, it fails miserably, ending with Luthor ordering his security to fire tranquilizers at Ra’s with the latter naturally escaping. With that, The Supervillain Civil War has formally and finally begun, Ending issue #1

- While the four way war between Luthor, Ra’s, Deathstroke and the Court is indeed the main driving plot of this event, our focus characters will be Tim Drake, Roy Harper, Wally West and Dick Grayson with themselves, their respective teams and almost every hero they know in turn caught in the crossfire.

- As the plot and the conflict between the villain factions advances with all that it entails, our protagonists find themselves confronted with either a call to action that builds on their character development over the past few issues (ex. Dick overcoming of his trauma and self doubt now being brought up to its conclusion with a realization of needing to be the Nightwing people need once again) or a wake up call to their faults in which only worsen the crisis at hand (Roy’s Arsenal Inc. and his anti heroic attitude making him and his team prime targets for the Light, especially once Cheshire turns on him to join Ra’s)

- Issues #2 through #7 will focus on the various large scale battles between all four of these villain factions with further escalating actions and measures that put our hero protagonists both caught in the process but also steady yet assured character development based on the above described recent arcs and actions they themselves have taken.

- Also akin to ‘Dawn of Fire’, each issue Post-Free Comic Day will be release weekly, with a base price of only $0.99. The event will last a grand total of eight issues, taking only two months for completion.

- Writing duties for this event will fall upon one of the following three candidates: James Tynion IV, Greg Pak or Gene Luen Yang

- As for artistic duties, once more the eight issues will have four artists, with each one doing the artwork per two issues. In this case: Issues #1 and #5 will be done by Phil Jimenez, #2 and #6 by Eddy Barrows, #3 and #7 by Guilem March, and finally both #4 and #8 will be done by Greg Capullo

- Issue #8, the climax to the Supervillain Civil War with a final battle in Bludhaven will come down to a final four way duel:

Ra’s Al Ghul Vs Deathstroke the Terminator vs Lex Luthor vs The Court of Owls’ most well known Talon, William Cobb

…..Here is where another shoe drops; Starting from Issue #1’s up till Issue #7, an election for the fans will have these four and their respective factions be voted. The votes are submitted via online, by mail or submitting it directly in local direct market comic book shops. The winner of the fan vote will win the final duel, their faction being the ‘winners’* of the event, their respective villain team being once and for all the supervillain counter to the Justice League

*Only for the winner of the duel to turn around and find himself facing…two Nightwings, Tim and a returned Dick Grayson…also a Wally West with his connection to the Speed Force restored during the main series and Roy Harper back in the Red Arrow suit once again…along with them, their many, many, many friends, teammates and allies surrounding the victorious villain faction. Cue massive curb stomping that drives off all villains and the heroes triumphant

- For the aftermath, Dick, Wally and Roy finally return to their respective roles, reconciling and moving on with each of their respective issues with themselves and their friends, all rejoining the Titans once again. Starfire also takes a role once more being part of the Justice Titans full time.

- As for Tim Drake, while Dick does offer to split the Nightwing mantle between the two of them equally in light of events both here and in the run for the Nightwing book starring Tim, the latter politely declines, promptly and proud returning to the Robin mantle full time, rejoining both Batman and YJ.

- As with ‘Dawn of Fire’, other than the above and the winning villain faction being the JLA’s now most persistent antagonists, War of the Villains does not result in a reboot but a subtle amount of changes to the status quos of every single DC book in the line.

- That said though, unlike ‘Dawn of Fire’, this event does have tie-ins for a good portion of the books on the line; the main event mini series is the core with most of the actual character development and story of importance whilst the tie-ins simply expand it, taking a look at key skirmishes between villains of each respective hero that’s crossed over. For example, for the tie-in of the Wonder Woman book, it sees her trying to stop the fight between Dr Poison versus Maxwell Lord OR for Action Comics with each member of the Superman Family taking on key villains of their rouges gallery. However, none of the tie-ins should have critical plot points or contradictory elements for the main mini series

To share some details on the game in question, Spec-ops: the line is a video game made by German studio Yager Development and published by 2k games. It was released in June 2012 for the usual set of platforms of the time; Xbox 360, PS3, and of course, PC.

The game is set in a slightly alternate universe, where massive sandstorms had ravaged areas of the Middle east, notable the UAE. follows a three-man team of Delta-force operators, tasked with investigating the ruins of Dubai after one such mega-sandstorm had cut it off from communication, and ascertaining the fate of an American unit, ‘The Damned 33rd’ that had defied orders to withdraw in favor of staying and trying to evacuate as many people as they could. To be more specific, their exact orders were to search for survivors, then report back.

Naturally, things don’t quite go that way when the leader of the team, (and player character) Martin Walker, hears about squad from the 33rd being under attack by local insurrectionists nearby, and breaks from his orders in an attempt to assist them.

Things don’t go according to plan, and the team ends up in conflict with the 33rd, resulting in a roughly three-day battle through the desolate city, which gradually starts to descend into more and more madness, with Walker (and thus the player) seeming to be of altered perspective, if not outright hallucinating as the game slowly moves from a standard (if unrefined at points) third-person shooter into borderline psychological horror as Walker’s motives seem to decay from a professional soldier simply searching for survivors to acting more like a standard action-hero, to the general detriment of everyone around him.

I shan’t spoil any more. But suffice to say, the fact that one of the last decisions the player gets to make in-game is whether or not walker should shoot himself, and the fact that it manages to be an actually hard decision for some, says a lot about this game, methinks.

I will say that this game isn’t for the weak of heart, but I would say that it’s very much worth playing for those who like a bit of story with their violence, because as an avid gamer myself I would say that the game is better carried by the story, rather than its relatively generic and otherwise unimpressive gameplay. Though you will find that the story does bleed into the gameplay to a degree, with walker and Co. getting more and more aggressive in their random callouts as the game goes on, and becoming more vicious to downed enemies too.

My biggest critique would have to be how the game starts to, for lack of a better phrase, attacking the player as it goes on. No, I don’t mean the Player-character. I mean after a while the loading screen switch from giving quirky, but useful hints, comments on the nature of war, or world-building such as:

“Lugo's sniper training allows him to dispatch long-range targets.”

“Collateral damage is any incidental damage that occurs as a result of military action. Such damage is not unlawful if it is not excessive.”

“White phosphorus is a common allotrope used in many types of munitions. It can set fire to cloth, fuel, ammunition, and flesh.”

“Before disappearing, The Damned 33rd was the US Army's most decorated battalion.”

to stuff like:

“How many Americans have you killed today”  

“The US military does not condone the killing of unarmed combatants. But this isn't real, so why should you care?”

“White phosphorus is a common allotrope used in your slaughter at The Gate. It can set fire to soldiers and the innocent civilians they are trying to help.”

“If you were a better person, you wouldn't be here.”

It makes the game come off as ‘preachy’ at points, as if it’s merrily taunting you from its soapbox about choices you ‘made’ but were never truly given. And can’t really be well justified given that it’s *DIRECTLY* addressing the player rather than Walker, who would very much deserve such treatment and contempt.

The gameplay is also, as said before, a bit clunky and unrefined, with a few minor controls proving rather inconsistent. Nonetheless, I would deem it something that any shooter fan should play for the experience, and how the game provokes thoughts about the kind of mindset needed to be a shooter protagonist.

Latheefa Koya, Chief of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC), released wiretaps on then-Prime Minister Najib Razak’s phone. The world heard, among other things, a late midnight call by Dzulkifli Ahmad, then a public prosecutor, tipping off Najib on impending criminal charges against him, as well as his (Najib’s) groveling to the Crown Prince of UAE pleading to him to backdate a loan agreement to protect Reza Aziz, Najib’s stepson and one of the principals named in the DOJ’s Asset Forfeiture Lawsuit of July 2016. Hearing His Highness repeatedly giving Najib a not-so-subtle royal shove-off and Najib not getting the message was painful.] I had to take breaks more than a few times while watching MACC Chief Lateefa Koya’s press conference of January 8, 2020. I had to, my revulsion could not be restrained otherwise. Persevere I did, only to be cursed with the darkest of moods at the end. This is what Malaysia has turned into, her leader with utter impunity and unbridled arrogance betraying the sacred trust citizens have placed upon him. Not just him but also his coterie of top officials. I was gripped me with an even deeper melancholy, accompanied by utter shame and barely controlled rage, on realizing that those officials were all Malays. Many were later honored as Datuks, Datuk Seris, and Tan Sris. Is this what Malay leaders meant when a few months ago they held a much ballyhooed gathering addressed by no less than current Prime Minister Mahathir under the banner of Maruah Melayu (Malay Dignity)? Is this what the culture that I have been brought up in my old kampung only a couple of generations ago has degenerated into? Then amidst my gloom, a spark of hope, as in Dostoyesky’s The House of the Dead where in the depth and sea of unimaginable inhumanity of a Soviet Siberian prison, a glint of humanity–a young man crying over the death of a stranger-to-him inmate. He replied to the narrator, “He, also, had a mother.” After hearing those MACC tapes, I also was desperate to find any sliver of honesty, integrity, and dignity amidst Najib’s Malay crowd. Then, there it was! We Malays also had one with integrity and honesty. He (or she) was there all along, hovering over but unnoticed. This hero or heroine loomed large though unseen and unheard. I hope that that would remain so for I fear the consequences otherwise. This brave soul saw evil being perpetrated. He (or she) was guided by our hadith that says (approximately rendered) when you see evil being perpetrated, use your hand to stop it. Failing that or if it would be too risky, then use your tongue, meaning, voice your disapproval. And if that too is dangerous, then at least disapprove of it in your heart, though that is the path least favored by Allah. This brave soul used his (or her) hand to install the tapping device, and in so doing trapped the tongue of those evil doers.

I am assuming (or pinning my hopes) that the upright individual is a Malay. I desperately want him (or her) to be one. God help Malaysia and that soul if he or she were to be a non-Malay. Yet another sneaky pendatang trying to shame and “do in” an honest, upright Malay leader. Malays, in particular Najib, already have difficulty digesting the role of that other chubby Chinaman. Malays like me are in desperate need of that righteous figure now, even an anonymous one, upon whom we could share some sense of reflected dignity and integrity. Confirming the authenticity of those MACC tapes is an elementary forensic exercise. Meaning, those tapes are genuine. Further, no one has denied them or claimed that they were concocted by slick actors and actresses, or rather actress. There was not even a sly “Sounds like me but not me” or “taken out of context” denial. What surprised me was not the tapes’ content. That present Malay leaders are corrupt to the core and top civil servants (again mostly Malays and UMNO partisans) lack an iota of integrity are not news. You do not need those tapes to validate that. That is the saddest and most painful part for me as a merantau (expatriate) Malay to acknowledge. More revealing were the responses of the participants, or lack thereof. Most remained silent. Rosmah managed, “I have nothing to say!” Then there was the rubbish from Najib claiming that those tapes vindicated him! Note, he did not deny the contents. There is a term to describe those who have difficulty discerning fantasy from reality. The good news there is that the malady is treatable. I always knew that Najib was not terribly bright. However, I did not realize he was that stupid as to use an unsecured land line to speak to a foreign head of state on a very sensitive matter. The man also lacks dignity; his shameless groveling to the Arab Crown Prince was despicable. I wonder how many other heads of state who had communicated with Najib over the phone and discussed 1MDB would feel now? Rest assured that those tapes were only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. To those who claim the tapes’ release was sub judice, violated due process, or an invasion of privacy, it is significant that so far no one has filed a court motion or police report. The reason is obvious–the behaviors of those whose voices were recorded were so egregious and beyond the pale. I am surprised and saddened that those who complained about the propriety of the tapes’ release have not seen fit to condemn the participants in the tapes. Focus on what those tapes reveal. Does anyone approve of what they did?

Meanwhile Inspector-General of the Police (IGP) Hamid Bador was waiting passively to receive those tapes. He should have responded:  “This is serious! I am on my way to see Latheefa right away to secure those tapes.” Those who argue that the tapes should have been handed to the police first and dispense with the public release, consider the police “investigation” of the other infamous so-called semburit videotape of two consenting men frolicking in a Sandakan hotel. That dragged on and at the end, “No Further Action!” Those individuals in the MACC tapes thought they were doing the patriotic thing to protect their leader, the Hang Tuah excuse. It is this perversion of our noble values that is so destructive. That prosecutor who tipped Najib was later promoted to be MACC Chief and given a Tan Sri. There’s more. He was caught soon after holidaying abroad, probably celebrating his reward, I mean promotion, with a female other than his wife. Worse, this slimy character had the audacity to give a Friday sermon on–yup, you guessed it!–the evils of corruption! Next JAKIM would invite him to give a sermon on marital fidelity. That’s the degradation of Islam in Malaysia, but that’s another and very long chapter. Save unconditional denials, the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal should ask the Agung and his brother rulers to rescind the titles awarded to those knaves. Syed Danial should not be like IGP Hamid, menunggu arahan. I am proud that the Ruler of my state of Negri Sembilan had already rescinded 15 months ago Najib’s and Rosmah’s honorifics. There was another shocker on the Council of Rulers. Latheefa’s predecessor Shukri had apprised them twice on 1MDB and the need for immediate action. The Rulers refused. Shukri called Duzlkifli a pengkhianat (traitor). From what we know today, that term could apply to many more. In the pantheon of infamy, those MACC tapes would be with Nixon’s Watergate’s. With Nixon, it was the missing part that undid him; with Najib and his ilk, the contents. To MACC Chief Latheefa Koya, continue the good work. Give ’em hell! You already struck fear among the corrupt. Let them have more sleepless nights believing that their past conversations could also have been tapped. To that brave righteous soul who tapped Najib’s phone, my heartfelt gratitude. Ok ..aku bukan nak cakap pasal depa yg terlibat.. Aku nak cakap Soal Dosa Peribadi.. Malam tadi, dalam laporan kononnya ada pengadu memberikan maklumat..Ada bunyi bising, Music dari dalam kediaman.. Apakah ini boleh ditakrif sebagai Dosa Peribadi hanya kerana mereka melakukan perkara tersebut dalam premis Persendirian.. Kebetulan aku pernah menulis tentang Dosa Peribadi, Dan apa yang dinukilkan oleh Imam Ghazalie di dalam Kitabnya Ihya Ulumuddin memberikan panduan jelas kepada badan hisbah bagaimana yang ditakrifkan sebagai maksiat yang tersembunyi..

Kes malam tadi, menepati apa yang dikatakan Imam Al Ghazalie.. ada yg buat laporan,( ada sangkaan yg kuat), ada bunyi Music yang melepasi dinding rumah..Jadi ini yang jadi Kontroversi bila Dr Mujahid membangkitkan persoalan " Dosa Peribadi.. " Bayangkan Kaedah Fiqh ini tak difahami hatta Mufti sendiri yang masih kata kita mahu menggalakkan maksiat.. Cuba lihat laporan akhbar sebelum ini terutama Harian Metro.. Berapa banyak tangkapan dibuat oleh Polis bahagian Narkotik dan maksiat terhadap pesta liar.. apakah ada Jakim atau menteri Agama larang ? kritik ? sampai anak menteri, pegawai menteri pun kena tangkap.. Apa yang dilarang dalam Islam itu ? sama seperti operasi maksiat selama ini, tidak ada laporan.. depa datang ramai ramai, lebai pergi tajassus.. Mengitai, mengintip.. ketuk dari bilik ke bilik mcm skuad badar, sampaikan ada yang dah kahwin diganggu.. ada yang tersalah tangkap hanya kerana tidak mempunyai sijil Kahwin.. Apabila membaca laporan dari perbicaraan kes melibatkan Isa Samad, teramat jelas peranan yang telah dimainkan oleh Zahid Mat Arip sewaktu beliau bekerja dengan Isa Samad. Beliau sendiri mengaku menjadi 'tukang kutip duit' untuk Isa Samad, ertinya beliau sedar beliau telah bersubahat dan bekerjasama dengan Isa Samad. Sila rujuk beritanya di sini  Tidak pelik dan menghairankan sekiranya beliau lantang di dalam menyerang Anwar Ibrahim sejak dulu hingga sekarang. Beliau di antara yang amat sensitif jika ada pihak yang bercakap tentang peralihan kuasa di antara Tun M dan Anwar. Tidak sukar untuk memikirkan mengapa Zahid Md Arip ini amat memerlukan Tun M terus menjadi PM dan terlalu gusar sekiranya Anwar mengambil alih jawatan tersebut dalam tempuh terdekat ini.

Sewajarnya, di dalam pemerintahan kerajaan Malaysia Baru yang mahu melaksanakan reformasi di dalam negara ini, orang seperti Zahid Mat Arip ini tidak patut dikutip apatah lagi bekerja di sebelah PM.  Apakah rakyat boleh yakin dengan kerajaan sekiranya Isa Samad diputuskan bersalah nanti manakala Zahid Mat Arip terus bekerja dengan PM? Kalau Isa Samad didapati bersalah menerima rasuah, tetapi 'tukang kutip duit' ini terlepas atas alasan menerima arahan, apakah kita boleh menerimanya? Jelas, mana-mana pihak atau individu yang terlalu gusar jika Anwar menjadi PM sudah pasti ada 'kes' yang menghantui mereka. He added that last year, the team carried out a campaign in cooperation with the Tourism Police Department in Umm Suqeim area near Burj Al Arab to achieve a zero crime rate which has succeeded in realising the required indicator during the specified period. Maj-Gen Al Mansouri pointed out that Dubai Police, to enhance the sense of stability and tranquillity of individuals, have established a bicycle division to enable the police to be present in all areas and internal and crowded roads, maintain security, prevent crime, protect public property, and save lives. He pointed out that the Dubai Police deal with more than 200 nationalities of different cultures, which requires professionalism and the search for more innovative and accurate methods to enhance the level of safety in our community. Chaos Theory - plot outline

An unknown terrorist group plot to seize control of the Straits of Hormuz, the entrance to the Persian Gulf, and thereby control the flow of oil and gas tankers into and out of the Gulf.

The group are not terrorists in the traditional sense of the word, and are a phenomenon never previously seen; grown out of a study group at Oxford University, they are post graduate students in Arabic Studies, Politics, Geography, International Affairs, Advanced Electronics and Economics. In their first post graduate term they form a tight band and sit for hours discussing World affairs and how things could be done differently. Discussions turn to the global dependancy on oil and the virtual stranglehold that oil producing nations have over the developed world, and how oil is used as a political currency.

One of the group is writing a theoretical paper as part of a dissertation, that considers the impact on the global economy of the Persian Gulf being put out of commission. The group discuss this scenario and ways that it might happen, and closing the Straits of Hormuz is an obvious starting point. A late night session leads to a suggestion that they put the scenario into practice as both a way of making some serious money, and of highlighting the ludicrosity of the western world being at the mercy of just about anyone who decides to block access to the Gulf.

What starts as a throw away comment quickly becomes a serious proposition for this group of radical and highly intellectual students who want to better themselves, and make a lasting mark on history. When the operation finishes, they will all be significantly richer and plan to become Nobel Laureates by winning prestigious awards for the papers they will publish outlining what they did, what they learned and how the world needs to react to stop anything like this happening again.

They exist in a bubble, cut off from the realities of life, and see themselves as intellectuals rather than terrorists. They number Karl Marx, Michael Foot, Kim Jong-Un, Fidel Castro and Jeremy Corbyn as their heroes; seeking to deliver the masses from the control of the few, but in reality failing to have a grasp of the practical realities of achieving results. Communists with a small c rather than members of the Communist Party. They would term themselves as Intellectual Radicals rather than any other label and would not consider themselves aligned to any political party or movement, nor of course as terrorists.

Months of planning see the group leader and his men stake out the province and establish an operational base in its primary city of Khasab.

Recognising the power and reach of intelligence agencies, they realise that the success of such a venture will depend on absolute secrecy. No phone calls, no email, no social media, no traceable communications. They revert to methods of an older age; person to person communications and white boards for planning. They manage to get hold of a new breed of satellite phone that one of the Electronics graduates has been working on, and this becomes the operational tool of choice as it is unknown to, and undetectable to listening agencies.

Seizing control in an early morning, bloodless coup, they declare the province as a new State under their control. The world watches helplessly as the new State beds in. Who are these people and what do they want? Speaking fluent Arabic, but not appearing to be of Arabic descent, the West scramble to learn who they are dealing with. Terror databases are searched in vain as the CIA, GCHQ and other government bodies try and work out who they are dealing with.

Musandam is really remote and can only be reached by two roads from the UAE, by air or by sea. Road access is cut off easily. The airport is put our of commission. Approaches by sea are made even more dangerous by mines placed all around the coast. Communications are cut and the only way of communicating is via satellite phones that the terrorists have.

The first ransom demands are made; $100,000,000 and a tanker will be allowed out. No payment and a tanker will be sunk and the Straits blocked. 72 hours until action is taken. The race is on to protect the Straits, keep the world’s flow of oil and gas moving and take back control of the area, ending the terrorist domination of the region.

But Iran has other ideas. Iran is on the opposite bank of the Straits and sees this an an opportunity to advance its own claims on the access route. Iran has nuclear weapons and threatens to use them if any country makes a move on the area. Iran try to establish links with the terrorists to further their own aims, but their approaches are rebuffed.

With the entire Middle East shaping up as a war zone, World War Three is inching ever closer. Western nations struggle to find out who the terrorists are and how to wrestle control back from them, without upsetting the Iranians. The world holds its collective breath as a crack team of commandos sets out for Musandam.

Storming the terrorist HQ in a dawn raid, the special forces find no sign of terrorists; just a group of Western hostages tied up and terrified. The world takes a collective sigh of relief but something doesn’t add up; where are the terrorists and who are they?
