There is an old daguerrotype in Hiram's study, dated 1868, neatly kept in a case in one of his bureau drawers. The same drawer holds a stash of letters, with worn-out paper damaged by saltwater and time. There should be more letters, so many more, but saltwater and time are not easy to escape. And yet, some things do. Some things can, in fact, endure saltwater and time.
Hiram remembers every line in every letter, and the daguerreotype is exactly where it should be.

Lore fact of the day, in honour of Hiram and Morgan's wedding anniversary: this was the only time that Hiram felt calm with a blindfold on.
Being blindfolded makes him remember the violant incident, and it always gives him headaches. Also, he doesn't like people to know that he can't feel anything around his eyes.
He only trust three people with this information: Griz (his oldest friend, he told her everything after the incident), the Deviless (she found out when Hiram couldn't feel her hands on his cheeks) and Morgan (they found out much later when Hiram decided to trust them again).
#he can agree to be blindfolded for party reasons (playing piano playing chess duelling etc) but he's never comfortable#tho he's very good at being in control of the situation and faking the fun he's having#and he never agrees to be blindfolded for sexy reasons (morgan and the deviless can blindfold him but they're on thin ice)#hiram hargrave#hiram lore#hiram x captain dargor
