In the whirlwind of wedding preparations, amidst the flurry of choices and decisions, one traditional adornment stands out as a symbol of marriage and a timeless piece of jewellery: the gold mangalsutra. This cherished ornament, deeply rooted in Indian culture, holds profound significance in Hindu weddings, symbolizing the sacred bond between husband and wife. However, as times evolve and fashion trends shift, the gold mangalsutra has also undergone a transformation, blending tradition with contemporary elegance to suit the tastes of the modern Indian bride.
The Significance of the Gold Mangalsutra Before delving into its modern iterations, it's essential to understand the significance of the gold mangalsutra in Indian matrimonial customs. Traditionally, the mangalsutra comprises a string of black beads interspersed with gold ornaments, symbolizing the bond between the couple and the husband's well-being. The groom ties the mangalsutra around the bride's neck, which marks the formalization of the marriage, and it is worn by the bride as a symbol of her marital status and commitment.
Evolution of Design: Tradition Meets Glamour While the essence of the mangalsutra remains unchanged, its design has evolved over the years to reflect contemporary tastes and preferences. Modern brides seek gold mangalsutra designs that honour tradition and complement their personal style and fashion sensibilities.
Minimalist Elegance In recent years, minimalist gold mangalsutra designs have gained popularity among brides who prefer understated elegance. These designs feature delicate gold chains adorned with subtle pendants, incorporating minimalist motifs such as floral patterns or geometric shapes. The simplicity of these mangalsutras allows them to be worn effortlessly on a daily basis, serving as a constant reminder of the sacred bond of marriage.
Statement Pieces On the other end of the spectrum are gold mangalsutras that make a bold statement with their intricate craftsmanship and elaborate designs. These statement pieces feature elaborate patterns and intricate detailing and often incorporate diamonds or gemstones for added glamour. While still rooted in tradition, these mangalsutras exude opulence and luxury, making them ideal for special occasions and celebrations.
Contemporary Twists To cater to the preferences of the modern bride, designers have introduced contemporary twists to traditional gold mangalsutra designs. These may include asymmetrical layouts, unconventional shapes, or innovative use of materials. Some brides opt for mangalsutras that seamlessly blend gold with other metals, such as rose or white gold, adding a contemporary flair to the timeless ornament.
Choosing the Perfect Gold Mangalsutra Selecting the right gold mangalsutra is a deeply personal decision for every bride-to-be. It involves considering factors such as personal style, cultural significance, and budget. Whether opting for a classic design passed down through generations or a contemporary piece that reflects individuality, the gold mangalsutra serves as a precious symbol of love and commitment.
When choosing a gold mangalsutra, brides should also consider factors such as craftsmanship, quality of materials, and comfort. Investing in a well-crafted mangalsutra ensures that it remains a cherished heirloom for generations to come, carrying forward the legacy of tradition and love.
In conclusion, the gold mangalsutra holds a special place in the hearts of Indian brides, symbolizing the timeless bond of marriage and tradition. With its evolution in design, today's brides have a myriad of options to choose from, allowing them to embrace tradition with a touch of glamour that resonates with their modern sensibilities. Whether opting for minimalist elegance or making a statement with elaborate designs, the gold mangalsutra remains a timeless adornment that celebrates the sacred union of marriage.

Embracing Diversity in Hindu Matrimony.
In the rich tapestry of Hindu culture, the concept of marriage holds a significant place. It's not merely a union of two individuals but a merging of families, traditions, and values. In recent times, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of embracing diversity within Hindu matrimony. This shift towards inclusivity reflects the evolving nature of society and the desire to celebrate differences rather than letting them divide us.
Diversity in Hindu matrimony encompasses various aspects, including regional, linguistic, cultural, and even religious differences. With Hindus residing in different parts of the world, from India to Fiji to the United States, the spectrum of diversity within the community is vast and vibrant. Each region brings its unique customs, rituals, and flavors to the matrimonial landscape, adding depth and richness to the institution of marriage.
One of the most beautiful aspects of embracing diversity in Hindu matrimony is the celebration of different customs and traditions. Whether it's the colorful rituals of a South Indian wedding, the grandeur of a North Indian ceremony, or the simplicity of a Gujarati wedding, each tradition has its charm and significance. Instead of imposing one set of customs as the norm, there is a growing acceptance of diverse practices, allowing couples to honor their roots while forging new traditions together.
Language is another facet of diversity that adds layers of richness to Hindu matrimony. With hundreds of languages spoken across India and among Hindu diaspora communities, language diversity is inevitable. Bilingual or multilingual weddings are becoming increasingly common, with couples incorporating vows and rituals in multiple languages to accommodate both families. This linguistic diversity not only reflects the multicultural fabric of Hindu society but also serves as a bridge connecting people from different backgrounds.
Cultural diversity within Hindu matrimony extends beyond rituals and languages to include food, attire, and music. From the sumptuous delicacies of Punjabi cuisine to the intricate silk sarees of Kanchipuram, every cultural element contributes to the kaleidoscope of experiences in a Hindu wedding. Embracing this diversity means opening up to new flavors, styles, and sounds, thereby enriching the matrimonial journey with shared experiences and mutual appreciation.
In the realm of Hindu matrimony, religious diversity is also a reality that cannot be ignored. While Hinduism is often perceived as a monolithic faith, it encompasses a wide range of beliefs, practices, and sects. Intersectarian marriages, where individuals from different sects of Hinduism come together, are increasingly common. This trend reflects a broader shift towards religious pluralism within Hindu society, where love and respect transcend sectarian boundaries.
Embracing diversity in Hindu matrimony is not without its challenges. Differences in customs, traditions, and beliefs can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or conflicts within families. However, the key lies in open communication, mutual respect, and a willingness to learn and adapt. By fostering an environment of acceptance and inclusivity, couples can navigate these differences with grace and understanding, thereby strengthening their bond and enriching their journey together.
In conclusion, embracing diversity in Hindu matrimony is not just a trend but a reflection of the evolving dynamics of society. It is a celebration of the myriad colors, flavors, and melodies that make up the tapestry of Hindu culture. By embracing diversity, couples can create weddings that are not only beautiful and meaningful but also inclusive and enriching for all involved. As we continue on this journey, let us cherish the diversity that makes Hindu matrimony truly special and embrace the beauty of unity in diversity.

Hindu Oriya Matrimony: An Overview
Dialurban Hindu Oriya Matrimony, deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of Odisha, represents the traditional customs and rituals of the Oriya community in India. Oriya matrimonial ceremonies are rich in symbolism, spirituality, and familial bonds, reflecting the essence of Hindu traditions blended with regional customs.
The process of Oriya matrimony typically begins with the matching of horoscopes, known as 'Jataka Porichaya,' to ensure compatibility between the prospective bride and groom. This step is considered crucial as per Vedic astrology and influences the decision-making process of families involved. Once compatibility is established, families proceed with the engagement ceremony, known as 'Nirbandha.'
The actual wedding ceremony, called 'Vivaha,' is a grand affair filled with elaborate rituals and celebrations. It typically takes place in a mandap, a sacred canopy adorned with flowers and traditional motifs. The rituals commence with 'Kanyadaan,' where the bride's parents offer their daughter's hand in marriage to the groom, symbolizing the sacred union. Other significant rituals include 'Haldi' (applying turmeric paste to the bride and groom for purification), 'Mangalasnan' (purification bath), and 'Saptapadi' (the seven steps taken together around the sacred fire, symbolizing their marital vows).
Oriya weddings are also marked by vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dance forms like Odissi, folk songs, and music, adding to the festive atmosphere. Delicious Oriya cuisine, featuring specialties like Pakhala Bhata (fermented rice), Dalma (lentil and vegetable stew), and various sweets, further enhances the celebratory mood.
Post-wedding rituals such as 'Chauthi,' 'Basara Ghar,' and 'Sasural Jatra' extend the festivities and strengthen familial bonds between the newlyweds' families. These rituals involve welcoming the bride into her new home, offering prayers for marital bliss and prosperity, and fostering unity among relatives.
In essence, Dialurban Hindu Oriya Matrimony encapsulates the beauty of tradition, spirituality, and familial unity, making it a cherished and significant aspect of Oriya culture and society.

Payment of Court Fee in Matrimonial Dispute
Sucheta Garg & Others v. Vineet Garg & others
Civil Revision 1544/2020
Before High Court of Punjab & Haryana at Chandigarh
The Bench of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gurbir Singh J allowed the Revision of the plaintiffs-wife and children & set aside the order of APJ Family Court directing them to pay court fee on the pending maintenance amount during the pendency of the divorce petition.
Background
The present revision petition has been filed under Article 227 of the Constitution of India for setting aside the order dated 04.11.2019 where by Additional Principal Judge, Family Court, Ludhiana, had directed the petitioners to pay ad valorem court fee in a petition filed for maintenance and for recall of the order dt. 03.02.2020 where by their application of the petitioner for recall of the order dt. 04.11.2019 was dismissed.
Fact
Petitioner Sucheta Garg filed a suit before the Additional Principal Judge(APJ), Family Court, Ludhiana under Sections 18 and 20 of Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, for grant of maintenance and for declaration to the effect that the plaintiffs have charge and for creating charge over the properties and further for declaration to the effect that one transfer deed executed by defendant No.1(Husband/Respondent) in favor of defendant No.2(parent of the respondent-husband) and two transfer deeds executed by defendant No.1 in favour of defendant No.3(parent of the Respondent-husband) with regard to immovable property are illegal and null and void.
APJ Family Court had asked the plaintiff-wife vide its order dt 04.11.2019 to make the deficiency of court fee good.
Plaintiff wife filed application for recall of the order dt.04.11.2019 & it was dismissed on 03.11.2020
The application was dismissed on the ground that the plaintiffs have filed the suit under Sections 18 and 20 of the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, suit for declaration that they have charge and creating charge over properties and for declaration that the transfer deeds are illegal and also suit for permanent injunction therefore they have to pay the Court Fee.
Submission of the Counsel of the Petitioner
The suit filed under Sections 18 and 20 of the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, filed by the wife and children does not fall in the category of the suit and Section 7 of the Court Fees Act is not applicable and, therefore, the plaintiffs are not liable to pay ad valorem court fee.
Submission of the Counsel of the Respondent
When Respondent-Husband filed divorce petition, the petitioners-plaintiffs filed application under Sections 24 read with Section 26 of Hindu Marriage Act for grant of maintenance pendente lite and litigation expenses which was allowed vide order dated 14.09.2023.
Respondent No.1 paid the amount of Rs.9 lacs to the petitioners and Rs.11,40,000/- remained to be paid, so suit filed by petitioners-plaintiffs is not maintainable.
There is no provision under the Family Act claiming charge over the properties belonging to the parents-inlaw and restraining them from alienating the same.
The petitioners have got the remedy by filing a separate suit before the civil court for creating charge over the properties as mentioned in the suit.
Case under Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act can only be filed if the proceedings under the Hindu Marriage Act are not pending but in the instant case, the petitioner are already got maintenance under the Hindu Marriage Act
Observation of the Court
Creation of the Family Court was for a purpose
Family Courts are created to simplify the rules and procedure so as to enable them to bring succor to women and children who have been abandoned by their husbands/fathers and others.
Rule 7 speaks of initiation of proceedings before the Family Court by way of plaint or petition or application or otherwise as the Court thinks fit.
In case, the action instituted before the Family Court is taken as a plaint and tried as a suit the entire purpose of setting up Family Courts will be frustrated.
Matrimonial disputes require quick and effective dealing which are different from the procedure adopted in ordinary civil proceedings, therefore, action has to be taken as instituted on an application.
Any other interpretation asking to affix ad valorem court fees will operate harshly and would tend to price justice out of reach of many litigants in distress thereby destroying the very object of setting up of the Family Courts.
When a woman and the children ask for maintenance, they can institute proceedings by way of an application.
Section 7 of the FCA directs that the Family Court shall be for the purpose of exercising the jurisdiction under the Act to be the District Court or any other subordinate Civil Court for the area, to which the jurisdiction of the Family Court extends.
Submission of the counsel of the respondent
It is not just a case of maintenance but is also for creating charge over the properties and for declaration that the transfer deeds (made by respondent-husband to his parents) are null and void and for permanent injunction, so ad valorem court fee is required to be paid.
The dispute regarding properties of the parties to the marriage are to be dealt by the Family Court and not by the regular civil court.
Jurisdiction of regular civil court is barred in such matters.
Issue
Whether the petitioners are liable to pay ad valorem court fee or not?
Order
The petitioners -Wife & children are not liable to pay the ad valorem court fee on the suit filed by them before the Family Court.

There are two sections in the ad, one is “Wanted groom” and another is “Wanted bride”.
“Wanted groom” is a section where the prospective bride looks for an eligible groom and the groom publishes his biodata. The prospective bride finds a suitable groom by going through the section and reading the groom’s biodata. Similarly in the “Wanted bride” section bride publishes her biodata and the prospective groom goes through the section to find a suitable bride.
If the prospective groom or bride finds a suitable one, he/she contacts them via email or phone no.

Gold Jewelry Mangalsutra: Symbolizing Tradition and Elegance
In Indian culture, mangalsutras hold profound significance as a symbol of marriage and marital bliss. Traditionally crafted from gold and black beads, mangalsutras have evolved into exquisite pieces of gold jewelry that blend tradition with contemporary design. Let’s explore the beauty and symbolism of gold jewelry mangalsutras, along with popular designs that captivate hearts.
The Symbolism of mangalsutra designs gold
1. Tradition and Ritual: Mangalsutras are more than just adornments; they are integral to Hindu wedding rituals. The tying of the mangalsutra around the bride's neck by the groom symbolizes his promise to protect and cherish her for life. This ritual connects the bride to her husband and signifies their union in matrimony.
2. Spiritual Significance: Gold, being a precious metal, symbolizes prosperity, purity, and auspiciousness in Indian culture. The black beads interspersed with gold in mangalsutras are believed to ward off evil and protect the couple from negative energies, ensuring a harmonious married life.
Designs of Gold Jewelry Mangalsutra
1. Classic Designs: Traditional mangalsutras feature a single or multiple string of black beads interspersed with intricate gold patterns. These patterns can include motifs like paisleys, floral designs, or geometric shapes crafted in 22-karat or 24-karat gold, showcasing the craftsmanship and artistry of Indian jewelers.
2. Contemporary Twists: Modern mangalsutra designs have evolved to cater to changing tastes while preserving cultural significance. Contemporary designs often incorporate diamonds, gemstones, or intricate filigree work alongside gold, adding a touch of elegance and glamour to the traditional piece.
3. Personalized Creations: Many couples opt for customized mangalsutras that reflect their personal style and preferences. This trend has led to variations in pendant shapes, lengths of the chains, and the inclusion of initials or motifs that hold sentimental value, making each mangalsutra a unique symbol of love and commitment.
Buying Guide for Mangalsutra Gold
1. Quality Matters: When purchasing a gold mangalsutra, prioritize purity. Look for hallmarking that certifies the gold's authenticity and purity level, ensuring your investment retains its value over time.
2. Design and Craftsmanship: Choose a design that resonates with your style and complements your personality. Consider intricate detailing, durability of craftsmanship, and how well the design aligns with traditional and contemporary preferences.
3. Maintenance and Care: Gold jewelry requires regular care to maintain its luster. Clean your mangalsutra regularly with a soft cloth and store it separately from other jewelry pieces to prevent scratches and tangling of the chain.
Conclusion
are more than mere ornaments; they embody cultural heritage, marital commitment, and timeless elegance. Whether you prefer a classic design or a contemporary interpretation, the essence of the mangalsutra remains unchanged—a symbol of love and lifelong companionship.
