I really enjoyed mygo and even though I was expecting those girls to be even more mentally ill than they were, the final episode leading into ave mujica genuinely made my jaw drop. it was nice seeing the mygo girls come together but I can already tell the ave mujica girls have SEVERE problems

I always found it amusing how the mygo girls seemingly had infinite money to throw at their band. they all had expensive instruments, reserved a studio to practice in every day like it was nothing, and bought expensive equipment on impulse. with that much money, there was no real chance for them to fail, as long as they could find ways to work out their conflicts. soyo living basically alone in a nearly unfurnished luxurious penthouse apartment as the daughter of a rich divorced mother shone a lot of light on why she turned out the way she did, and it was a treat for my toxic yuri himejoshi heart getting to see her drop the mask and let her bpd run unchecked

which is why ave mujica is already primed to be so interesting to me! sakiko lives in a tiny house with a rotten alcoholic father who leaves the floor littered with empty beer bottles. when I saw that, it suddenly clicked why she always plays piano at school instead of doing it at home or in a studio: she's poor! I'm very interested to see the class dynamics between sakiko and soyo's relationship, but I'm even more excited to see more of sakiko herself. I instantly clocked her as plural when she mentioned her "old self" dying, and given the fact that she insists on all of her band members wearing masks. she's already primed to be one of my favorite characters

here's hoping I can catch up with ave mujica before the final episode airs!

The "if there's men I don't play" situation in CN is actually funnier than it sounds.

So, the thing about CN is that a lot of players like to track their favorite game's revenue, and playing a game with high monthly revenue can somehow make them feel better about themselves.

And these dudes' ideal game is kinda like those bullshit isekai clones where the player character is the only man living in a world full of conventionally attractive women whose lives centered around them and them only.

There fellas were loud so a lot of gaming companies chose to pander them. One of the more well-known game, the literal gospel for these dudes, was Snowbreak: Contaminant Zone (Imma call it SCZ for short). It's one of those softcore porn game targeting dudes who are too repulsive for real women.

And SCZ's revenue got steam rolled by Arknights, another CN game knows to have lots of women players and an active fandom composed of mostly women, every single month. Like Ak isn't some saint game made by saint company, but they do have record of firing male employee for engaging in hate speech against women using one of the company's social media account, so they had a relatively decent reputation among gaming women in China comparing to other companies.

So the SCZ dudes gets salty for not being the "silenced majority". They launched an attack on the game, spamming discussion forums when Arknights released a male character (Ulpianus), who debuted like a year ago and was presented in multiple story updates, this May, attempt to stir up community problem by pairing him up with a popular female character(Skadi) who was released at launch.

Now here's the problem. There are some dudes who want male characters out of Arknights completely, but they're like, 1% or something. Most people who played doesn't give half a rat ass about SCZ dude's big problem with fictional men existing.

Furthermore, the two character they attempted to pair together already had plenty of build-up to their relationship, and both the story's narrative and the fandom treat their relationship as teacher-apprentice/father-daughter. So their attack was largely viewed as "out of nowhere" and "ridiculous". They were also ridiculed by the community, people just kinda take their words and made a bunch of copypasta about popular ships in the fandom out of it.

And Arknights's playerbase was huge. It launched at the best time for mobile games in CN and it's the few weeb game that people who aren't into anime or gaming heard about or played. Heck it was even viewed as some sort of cultural phenomenon that influenced the UI, art style, story etc. of mobile games that comes after it. So the playerbase was huge, and the majority of it wasn't even aware that there was an attack at all.

So yeah the attack was as big as an ant bite on an elephant at best. Then these dudes go back to their little echo chamber enjoy their self-declared victory on Arknights. Then life continuous on as usual.

Also these dudes seems to have found a few more new CN exclusive gachas and called praised them too nabraska and back for not containing male characters in promotional trailers, only to be supersized by like one or two playable dudes at launch. Those lads were seething in the comments.

Also the Japanese Himedanshi/Himejoshi(people who enjoys yuri) community mistakenly interpreted their goal to be "only lesbian relationships allowed, no hetero bullshit". Funniest shit.

the snowbreak game is crazy lol truly the future of incel gacha. I feel bad for the women who just wanted to see lesbian relationships.

I’m glad they could be totally ridiculed humbled even though AK pulled this shit on their KR server which was never addressed by Hypergryph. This is at least really funny though. These guys seem to always try this “cuckolding” bait with the characters to make people riled up specifically within these Chinese incel gacha communities. I’ve seen the craziest shit recently looking into the newest clusterfuck going on with them and that Genshin Impact character “Wanderer” they seem to hate to an insane degree. after this I looked up their upcoming white pharaoh ™️ banners, it’s so many female characters and they still lose their shit like this about existing male characters… I think there was also a huge blowup with “Girls Frontline 2” with some assumed cuckolding issue, and the CN Blue Archive server literally had to issue an apology for doing a collab with the game Mahjong Soul because the BA players thought they were being cuckolded by the MA players

I don’t want to get too deeply into the more niche aspects of it because it’s not the main focus of this blog and I feel like I’m falling down a rabbit hole of info lol. but when I have a little more time maybe, just so I know I won’t be rushing and using a place like reddit to double check things. But thank you to everyone who has sent info, it’s been interesting to read about and see how it compares to the other movements chronicled here. It’s been hard to find some of this information in English so thank you to everyone who has ever sent a message for writing to me in English as well. Thank you for your patience. Such is the Joy of Our Reunion Operator Impressions

I'm just going to give my first impressions of the operators here, based on their kits as well as what I can see of them being used in content.

Yu: Yu is definitely the best out of the 4 Servants introduced. I don't personally believe this is particularly controversial, but Yu has a pretty strong kit for inflicting Burn damage and triggering Burn burst. His S2 in particular is a really powerful skill that turns Yu into a really strong DPS thanks to its massive ATK buff and initial pull. His S3 is also interesting, and one of the better ways to enable Blaze and Warmy, but I am actually rather cool on this skill. It's got a long SP cost and doesn't inflict that much Burn damage to compensate for it.

An additional thing with Yu's kit is that while he is pretty sufficient at triggering Burn burst, he's not really capable of doing anything with it. Burn is a more offensively inclined Elemental build-up type, so it really favors the ability to capitalize on it, and Yu doesn't really do so. This is relatively minor, but it's worth noting that he is not quite the Virtuousa for Burn damage.

Blaze the Igniting Spark: It's so hard to actually sit down and analyze Primal Casters. Nymph was a pretty big question mark before it became apparent that her S3 was not her standout skill despite it's incredibly ceiling with Virtuousa, but rather it was her S2, with it's incredible cycle time, high amount of Necrosis damage, and at the time unique crowd control effect. Let's compare S3s for a moment:

Nymph S3 DPS: 2,470.4 Total Skill Damage: 86,464 36/55/35 second duration (90 second skill cycle) When enemy is under Necrosis burst, all damage done is Elemental damage and takes 40% of ATK as Elemental damage per second.

Blaze the Igniting Spark S3 DPS: 5,611.5 Total Skill Damage: 42,086.25 20/30/25 Ammo (Takes 7.5 seconds to attack) (37.5 second skill cycle) When enemy is under Burn burst, deals 380% of ATK as Elemental damage and attacks deal an additional 80% of ATK as Elemental damage.

Blaze is the much higher DPS skill, but her much shorter attack duration causes her damage to fall short compared to Nymph. However, her skill cycle is significantly better than Nymphs, and she can actually use her skill again before Nymph gets to use her skill again at all. The big difference is that while given Elemental support, Nymph does a lot more elemental damage in comparison to Blaze. This makes her a lot better versus high RES and DR than Blaze is, but Blaze is much better versus groups of enemies and enemies with middle-tier RES.

What isn't clear at the moment is whether S2 or S3 is better. S3 is a pretty powerful burst damage skill, and S2 is more of a crowd control measure that can help inflict Burn damage. The issue is that her S2 isn't clearly better enough that it might be difficult to distinguish her without Burn support.

It remains to be seen just how good she is.

Surfer: The problem with getting pretty mediocre Agent Vanguards is that they all have to compete with each other. Surfer I feel like might be the weakest Agent vanguard we've gotten, with her only edge possibly being her DP generation on deployment and potentially the DEF steal on her S2. It's pretty questionable though.

Xingzhu: Our little himejoshi (this hasn't been confirmed but you can take it from my cold dead hands) food critic is an Abjurer Supporter a just...wonderful class full of operators who are definitely the most okay. Her Sanctuary buff isn't dependent on operator HP, but only affects 2 operators in range and is a bit weaker than Quercus'. Her S1 is a Purestream style insta-heal, healing all operators in range. Her heal isn't quite as strong as Purestream's and her range is a bit of a sidegrade comparatively, but it is on a 10 SP skill cycle compared to Purestream's 20, so Xingzhu might be better.

Her S2 is powerful but has a whopping 75 SP cost attached to it. She will basically be useful for healing once and then it might simply be better to retreat and redeploy her later. This skill is a little tragically overcosted.
