I wonder what Frilda's first date was like for them? Maybe a simple dinner at that tavern that Hilda's dad took them to with a walk on the pier afterwards?

Not there since there wasn’t a lot for the gang to eat (or at least seemed appetizing), so probably somewhere more meaningful that they both enjoy. Probably a picnic in the park (but some Vittra ruin it by stealing food or the tunnels collapse dropping Frilda down them) or on the beach (where Eugene wants some notes on a new routine).

No matter where tho’, I highly doubt that they’d be able to get through a first date without something weird happening

Evo gang (Matryn, Pearl, Jimmy, Big B, and Grian) all got trapped in the fairy isles but while most where able to get out and then forget grian was trapped for longer and remembered

Bdubs being an elf is endlessly funny to me but maybe part of the lost clan because idk about the paperwork aspect, that if he could be a Vittra

on that thought, Mumbo is a human. He has the same eyes as david

Pearl would have a deer fox- or you know that really big puppy that nissa kept

Cleo would be a marra…. Idk man there are only ghosts rather than undead but I guess the Draugen would work better

Gem would be a witch who escaped the void of no return

joel- would be a nissa maybe, but the very pesky kind

this guy is an enigma, etho maybe the Lindworm type creature? They both suffer from social anxiety lol

jimmy would somehow be linked to the great raven, I love them both dearly

skizz I think would be a member of the lost clan

tango plays the mad scientist role I think someone like Victoria van…. What’s her name would be amazing. He can be unhinged as a treat

What is your favorite and least favorite episode of Hilda?

Least Favorite: The Sparrow Scouts Idk I don't have a super specific or controversial reason to explain why I dislike this episode... I don't think it's a bad episode per-say, it's more of a pacing thing. I actually just find it a slog to watch compared to the episodes around it. I also don't find the Vittra very interesting compared to many of the other creatures in the series. Favorite: The Windmill It's got everything! Victoria van Gale. Tontu. Victoria's nisse. David's nisse. Victoria really seeming like she's getting better and then tragically making the wrong choice at the end!! It's perfect. My only note is that I want to watch it again forever

In the episode, Hilda's friends thought the creature as "stinky weed", which made the creature angry.

Removing weeds in the garden was my role during childhood and it was important source of revenue for me (@/ 10-50 yen or 0.08-0.40 USD)

Are there any other creatures in Hilda you particularly enjoy?

YES I love the Nisse, Hilda's home's Tontu in particular.

Season 3 also introduced the Pooka who is also delightfully silly, I love the Pooka. Also, the Vittra also have a fun design.

This is my Hilda AU where, in S1E4, psychopathic children were assigned to clean the park instead.

I call it the "Georgie-boy Hilda AU."

So I now have Thoughts thanks to this so buckle up.

They're working on a missing person's case.

Specifically, missing vittras. The main vittra comes to the safety patrol out of desperation and because they're attempting to rebrand themselves as willing and able to aid the magical denizens.

PR is on the line here, as well as Gerda's conviction to do better than her predecessors as leader.

Alfur is brought in to help with the investigation. He's become the official liaison between elves and Trolberg's council, and he's considered the expert on managing human/magical creatures relations thanks to his reports on Hilda's adventures.

The stakes are also high due to a nasty bit of Trolberg history (though the issue was country wide): vittras were considered a delicacy until about 40 years before. Consuming Vittra was banned, and was always considered a bit dodgy, but there are still people willing to fork out a fortune to smuggle vittra onto their plates.

Erik want to help due to a mixture of guilt over his own actions and the fact that, though he never personally partook, the Ahlbergs were involved in vittra trafficking until the ban.

He still remembers his family's old contacts and writes them down for Gerda, though she doubts they'd still be involved as they were all arrested decades before. Alfur insists she at least take the list, just in case.

He also advises her to head to the harbour first, as the most logical thing for the traffickers to do would be to get the vittra out of the country. This she agrees on.

Incidentally, Anders work down at the harbour now, so Gerda and Alfur approach him for questioning.

It should be noted that Alfur has not warmed up to Anders at all, he considers him a deadbeat. So he is very brusque in a way that surprises Gerda.

Anders waffles for a moment when they ask if he'll answer any questions, going "maybe I will, maybe I won't".

until Alfur points out stuff like unpaid parking fines or the like, and Anders agrees to answer any questions they might have.

They bring up the vittra and Anders is immediately serious. He also points out that they can't have left the harbour: vittra need fresh dirt to survive. They wither away quickly and would become inedible.

He advises them to search inland, try to track less used roads, look for disturbed earth.

This would take ages, so Gerda decides to go to the Rat King.

Alfur can sense her trepidation over sharing apparently another secret, so he offers his own.

The Rat King tells them to find Polecat.

(btw op I love the idea of his name just being Alan lol)

They track him down and chase him all over Trolberg, then drag him to the patrol station for questioning.

Alfur wants to be bad cop, using intimidation methods taught to him by Bartell, but him being Alfur it doesn't work.

He would have used Agnes' methods, but he notes he probably couldn't legally do so.

Polecat on his part insists he doesn't know anything about vittra trafficking. He's done some shady stuff that he won't elaborate on, but he considers that a line he won't cross, if only out of squeamishness.

Eventually, Alfur outright asks him about one of the names on Erik's list, which Polecat recognises.

They show him the list, and Polecat knows everyone on it, and where they operate. He honestly didn't know they engaged in vittra trafficking, and frankly doesn't want to work with them again.

The pair set off and track down the hideout.

Hilda and co are also there. Because of course they are.

They'd seen some shifty people around the vittra tunnels a few days before and had kept tabs on them.

Alfur is furious: this is a problem for adults to handle, and none of the kids' parents even know they're there. It didn't occur to any of them to go to someone with their concerns sooner, and these people could be dangerous.

He's also not covering for her again, he's gotten into enough trouble with her mum, thank you very much.

The traffickers catch them, and it turns into a brawl. Gerda beats the daylights out of several thugs, Hilda shows off some troll/fairy strengths, Frida's spells are flying about the place, Twig is going forthe ankles.

Alfur and David quietly sneak around the chaos and release the vittra.

Backup arrives soon after to make arrests and take the vittra home.

And the kids. Alfur wasn't kidding, he's telling their parents about this and putting off doing the paperwork to do so.

Alls well that ends well, the kids are reminded that there are adults who will listen to them, the paperwork is sorted, and the vittra are safe.

Thus is the start of Trolberg's best magical crime-stopping duo.

Okay so there needed to be Gerda and Alfur together properly in an episode but like…

An entire episode with them that just played like a cop drama/homicide investigation (but like not a murder this is a kids show but something like smuggling magical creatures or something serious).

Gerda and alfur running around investigating.

Chasing a mysterious figure down alleyways and he gets away from Alfur but then Gerda cuts him off and nabs him.

“Alfur it might work better if I’m the bad cop.”

Gerda getting in a fistfight with someone considerably larger than her.

Anders as the mysterious guy who’s just rolled into town and might have info. Him playing it up, leading them on and drawing the process out cause he likes the attention… until Gerda just starts scrawling him random tickets.

Going to the rat king for info. It becomes clear he’s a contact Gerda is very much aware of and has had dealings with before. But whom she doesn’t like dealing with unless necessary- it seems he may know a few of her secrets already. Alfur takes one for the team and tells him his secret instead.

Erik in there like the ex cop who ‘retired’ because he was shady. Gives Gerda bad advice about how to handle the case or something. Bonus if he hasn’t shaved and looking sullen over his drink but then it’s just coffee.

Polecats in it because he’s an actual criminal. He’s like “I’m called the polecat!” Alfur, taking notes: “Poolca-“ Gerda: “his name’s Alan.”

Intersecting with Hilda and co as they’ve realised something is going on as well, but of course, haven’t informed the authorities. Alfur like “guys why are you here I’m trying to make a good impression.”

Gerda and Alfur being way to excited about all the paperwork they have to do when they’re done.

CURRENTLY WATCHING - was just rewatching Hilda and bawling my eyes out at the Twig backstory episode. i'm a sucker for an animation with magic-realism style fantasy

LAST MOVIE - i think it was actually disney descendants 3 lol i was looking for background noise while painting and i was curious what the deal with those movies were. plot is very mid but the costuming and music is fun

CURRENTLY READING - everything and nothing. halfway through The Makioka Sisters by Junichiro Tanizaki and and An Artist of the Floating Worlds by Kazuo Ishiguro and also need to binge read that hunger games prequel my friend lent me before the movie comes out. I'm a full-time writer so i struggle to read consistently outside my job after reading and writing all day. (also realised reading back over this i also started the Junji Ito adaptation of no longer human a couple of weeks ago too help I'm a japanese literature loving disaster)

SWEET/SAVORY/SPICY - yes. all 3 at the same time. but savoury and spicy is the most important to me i'm not a big sweet tooth but i love salty-sweet things. i.e. this is why korean food appeals to me so much it's all 3.

LAST THING GOOGLED - 'vittra hilda' - was chatting with a friend who had seen some of the series and was checking which episode they featured in cos that's what they remembered from it

CURRENT OBSESSION - honestly business as usual. animation, cats and kpop. have been enjoying the DPR Ian and ONF comebacks.

CURRENTLY WORKING ON - finishing a watercolour portrait painting. I'm probs over a month working on it at this point i've had so little spare time to sit and paint . gonna start the pet portrait a friend commissioned next.
