“Oh!  It’s finally time to reveal the latest addition to Mr. ImNobodyUKnow’s drawing collection!  Let’s have a look...”

“Ahaha!  I recognize two of these faces.  That’s not a bad likeness of them!”

Thanks, Miyuki-san!  Here it is, “big reveal” number 45!

So, what happens when a couple of anime city girls cross paths with a couple of anime country girls, two of which have a similar sense of humor?  Something like this:

For those unfamiliar with the anime (animes...?) Lucky Star and Non Non Biyori, the first is about a group of high schoolers living a normal (and hilarious) life in an unnamed city based on the real-life Japanese city of Kasakube, and the second is about a group of younger (albeit somewhat taller) kids growing up in the countryside of Asahigaoka.  The two girls in sailor uniforms -- Kagami Hiiragi on the left and her twin sister Tsukasa on the right -- hail from Lucky Star, while the other two -- young Renge Miyauchi on the left and her older sister Hikage on the right -- are from Non Non Biyori.  The drawing takes place in Renge and Hikage’s provincial home, where the Hiiragi twins happen to be visiting.

So, are we all clear now?  Awesome!  *makes a thumbs-up*

So, what is “meowning” supposed to mean?  Exactly what it sounds like!  : 3  Basically, it’s a 9-year-old’s variation on “morning,” which Renge first spoke in the first episode of Non Non Biyori Repeat (Non Non Biyori’s second season).  To be more accurate, the word she uses is “nyanpasu,” since the show’s voiceovers are Japanese.  I personally think it’d be just as adorable either way, of course.  X 3

For this non-canon scenario, I imagined that Tsukasa, being the more childlike twin, would go right along with Renge’s made-up greeting, probably without even asking what it means.  Their sisters, being more the serious type, would likely be embarrassed by their interaction and show it on their faces, thus creating the hilarious scene you see here.  X }

Believe it or not, I completely forgot that “good morning” is one of Tsukasa’s favorite things to say, which makes this situation even more believable.  Of course, even if it wasn’t, I’m sure she’d be unable to resist repeating Renge’s cute greeting back at her.  Cuteness seems be deeply ingrained into both their DNA, after all.  X )

All right, no more faces.  ; )

Kagami and Tsukasa were remarkably easy to draw.  I used one screenshot for Kagami...

...and two for Tsukasa -- one for perspective, and the other for her face.

Renge was based on her famous “Nyanpasu!” scene, as was the background...

..and Hikage was based on two different screenshots, for the same reason as Tsukasa -- perspective and face.

One think I’d like to mention is that perfecting facial expressions has become one of my favorite parts of drawing, so I'm glad for the opportunity I had to practice them with these overtly expressive characters.

I hope this drawing was enjoyable for any fans of Lucky Star, Non Non Biyori, anime in general, or just anyone who’s ever been annoyed by a younger sibling (I know I have).  You’re stuck with them, so try and get along as best as you can!
