in episode 2 of reading an entire Devon Price book in a day, today I read Unmasking Autism, I waited on a library hold list for a while (currently 22 people waiting for their turn on 7 copies the SDPL system already has), uh wow yep hm I needed this book a year ago, kind of still reeling from the emotional impact to provide a cogent summary of what it specifically covers, a lot of things I've felt, a lot of things I've strongly suspected to be true but did not feel confident or comfortable articulating, fire alarm wake up call to some passivity/people-pleasey things I have going on, okay backing up taking a beat, covers relevant history and context, explanations of autistic traits and the diversity therein, once again well articulates the intersectionality of the thing, provides clear explanations of the negative impacts of masking while acknowledging the reality that fully unmasking all the time is not realistic for most people, gives very clear advice for life and living and understanding, extremely good, remember how I said yesterday that I added "Laziness Does Not Exist" to my to-buy list, this evening I finished the book and bought multiple physical and audio copies and sent them off to various people in my life (partner, immediate family, mother-in-law, two copies for me (one to be Mine and one to lend out)), I sometimes buy people books but never to this degree of volume and immediacy, extraordinarily enlightening for myself personally, and would also highly recommend if you're like me and have trouble articulately answering questions about this stuff and just need a book to throw at people to help them understand
