flint/roza

some people expect flint to get all huffy or experience some sort of gapmoe sort of flustered embarrassment when it comes to roza and his feelings — but no, he’s still the same old steely flint. takes his feelings head-on (he got himself into this mess. he might as well deal with it.)

he lets roza sleep in his room but also, he doesn’t really stop to linger in the mornings — he’s waking up at 5am and that’s that. the longest he’s lingered at that was for only about... 2 minutes? there’s no altering his schedule just for lazy morning moments.

roza’s clumsiness goes very poorly with stagrove’s rather... demanding terrain. flint has another bumbling idiot(*) on his hands that he has to keep from tumbling over the sides of the treehouse. the amount of times he’s had to catch her from stumbling over the edge, it only makes him wonder when she’ll learn to walk on her own two legs.

flint sometimes carries roza when she falls asleep around campus. not always though. sometimes he just leaves her where she fell sleep.

he makes it a point as to not treat her like a child or to coddle her senselessly — she’s a 2nd year student and a rising Von Dorimé, she should know how to stand on her own. he knows she can do it. he’s here to make sure that she is able to do it. he’s a harsh guy but he cares in his own special way.

sometimes roza tries to read some of his books or do some of his paperwork with him, but she takes one look at it and falls asleep immediately. he isn’t really bothered by it though, so he just works around her or readjusts himself to keep reading.

roza has been trying to get flint to ballroom dance with her for Ages. he turns her down because she already steps on his toes plenty. she tries to argue it and accidentally steps on his toes in the process.

xiang/vinh

vinh made him a bow once as an apology for smashing his foot in the door while she was trying to shut it. he made sure to bug the hell out of her while he was stuck in the infirmary with a busted ass foot.

so far, xiang has managed to break 3 out of 4 of the locks on vinh’s door. she’s gotten them fixed by now, of course, but the fact that he still did it is something.

vinh is fully aware of xiang’s... ‘free-flowing’ personality (it’d be hard not to be). though, if she sees him with someone else, then she usually pretends she does not see, hear, and or even know him. if he calls out to her? She Didn’t Hear Anything.

she’s blocked him on numerous occasions for his terrible nicknames (‘cougar’ and ‘hotstuff’ are pretty popular ones), but she usually unblocks him in a few minutes or an hour.... or a few days.

vinh’s family really does not like xiang. 1) he’s a mortal (vinh’s dad is actually fine with that. but he still doesn’t like him.) 2) his only redeeming qualities are in his body and his face (quoted directly from vinh’s mother), 3) eugh... (direct quotes from all of them, mostly vinh’s sisters. ‘nothing good comes from a man who runs’ — another direct quote from her sisters. all at once, actually.)

she comes to his training sessions sometimes ‘for fun’ (she actually just critiques his techniques while she’s there 🙄 but that sounds boring ) — sometimes he wants to spar with her, but her strong point is magic and both of them aren’t particularly looking for an arson charge. there’s a agreement to not use magic for it. makes it more interesting anyway.

xiang makes some of the slightly ‘uglier’ sides of vinh’s personality come out sometimes. granted, he hasn’t gotten her to break down in tears or anything so far, but he’s certainly gotten more than a fair share of bitter vinh scorn, a great deal of snark, and multiple accounts of (slightly less repressed) fury. the ‘softer and more genuine’ emotions tho, he only has a handful of experiences with. maybe moreso like a thimble-full.
