You had loosely known Tsukishima all year now, as you shared the same class and often found yourselves sitting by each other and pairing up for assignments. It was no secret that he was intelligent, but you could hold your own despite how intimidating he could sometimes be.

Recently, you had been making quite the effort to see him outside of class, though you weren't quite sure he had gotten the hint. You had been coming to his games, talking to him more in class, and you even altered your route to school to intersect with his. He hadn't been receptive, though, and if anything could be considered your enemy, it might be those damn headphones.

You had one last idea, though. Sitting next to him in your last class of the day, you tapped him on the shoulder.

"Hm?"

"Hey, um, you mind staying after class for a few to help me out with this problem on my math homework? I'm so lost..."

"Oh, yeah. Sure. I have some time before practice."

"Thank you," You returned to your work, now unable to focus. You know you were the one who asked him to stay, but the idea of being alone with him after class made your stomach turn.

Soon enough, the bell had rung, and you had gotten absolutely nowhere on your work. The class cleared out until it was just you and Tsukishima. He pulled his chair closer to share your desk as you got out your math homework. You handed it to him and he skimmed it over, the silence between you almost deafening.

"Mm, wait, what is it that you don't get?" He asked, puzzled.

"Uh, the last one."

"But you did the whole sheet correctly. You just wrote out the equation and didn't solve it on the last one."

Oh God, I guess you didn't think this far. How could you be so dumb? A perfect sheet of homework didn't exactly scream that you needed help. You made up the best excuse you could, "Yeah, but I looked back at it after the lesson and I just don't even remember how to do it...can you show me?"

"Sure.." he picked up a pencil and took the problem step by step, mumbling an explanation under his breath. At one point, he looked up and saw your eyes fixed on him. You could've sworn there was a peak of blush, but he looked back down at the sheet before you could get a good look. "There, uh, does that make more sense?"

"Yes, it's perfect. Thank you..."

"No problem," He hesitated, as if he was about to say something else but was held back, "You've been coming to my games, right?"

"Oh, yes! I've kinda been getting into the sport..."

"Are you coming tomorrow, too?"

"Do you want me to?"

That caught him off guard, a flash of fear in his eyes, "Uh- well, sure." He looked at his phone quickly for the time and began to frantically pack up, "Shoot, I'm about to be late. I guess I'll see you tomorrow."

"Sorry to keep you!" You were upset with yourself for having kept him so long, "Good luck at practice!"

And at that moment your heart nearly skipped a beat when you saw him swallow before answering, "thanks."

He walked out the door and you were left practically with your jaw dropped. You packed up quickly and went to your locker to put your homework away.

You were once again filled with anxiety upon hearing familiar voices down the hall.

"She WHAT? And you don't think she really needed help-" Yamaguchi's voice squeaked through the hall, having not noticed you yet. You glance down the hallway and see Tsushima talking to him, Tsukki's back facing you. Was he really talking about you?

Yamaguchi continued, "Dude you need to go back before she-" he clasped his hands over his mouth, finally noticing your presence down the hall.

Tsukishima turned around to see you standing there, his face completely flushed. Yamaguchi pushed him towards you quickly before running off to avoid whatever Tsukishima might do to him when he catches him.

There you were, standing alone facing your nearly-190-centimeter crush. He turned around to watch Yamaguchi dart off. He sighed, and turned back to face you, walking towards you.

"Y/n?"

You turned to him, closing your locker. "Yes?"

"You're not dumb. Obviously. You didn't need my help back there. And so I won't pretend you didn't just hear that."

You were absolutely speechless.

"Do you like me, y/n?"

"I- uh..."

"Because I like you." He grew more anxious as you delayed to respond, "is that okay?"

"Yes!" The word burst out of you, "More than okay."

regarding the episode, i’m so glad we always run to each other to scream!! i did cry more in the previous episode, but there such a deep sadness to this one, especially with shiv 😭 seeing them actually have a somewhat healthy convo about their feelings made me SOB because look how far they came! i feel like roman will be so hard to watch because he will hit rock bottom so quickly because he looks too “okay” and it will be terrible! for ken to be “winning” in ep 4? yeah, he’s about to crash and i’m not ready, im so scared that the water motif becomes even more real for him 😭but the paper was such a genius writing decision, because he will forever wonder if it was underlined or not 😭 and shiv… baby ): even tho i’m not the biggest fan of the pregnancy arc in other show, i think it does make sense for shiv and it’s been hinted so much but it happened at the saddest possible time 😭 the way she says “you can’t go, not now” to logan and it’s even sadder now … i also never realised how much i liked the angst between her and tom but they’re KILLING me this season, there’s just something so deeply sad about their relationship that always gets me 😭 worried but excited to see where she goes because maybe things will turn around for her (this is me manifesting)

hii tessa <333 if you don't mind me asking, how do you deal with anxiety (i hope you don't have any tho just curious)

hiiii <3333 I don't mind you asking at all!! also I do have it. I have it a lot! lmaoo. I think my first advice would be to go to therapy if you have access to it. it truly does help. but! even if you do go to therapy, there's so much that you do end up having to deal with on your own so I have my little list of thing i do to ease it so here u go :)

journaling. I cannot stress this enough, my journal has saved my life. I like to do morning pages, which basically means that I write three pages of uninterrupted stream of consciousness upon waking up. before screen time, before coffee, before I can even pee sometimes lol.

writing down the good and the bad and the in-between. this is an extension to journaling but my therapist tells me this all the time. sometimes I feel like only certain things are worth writing about (i.e. being very happy, being very sad) but the truth is that anxiety is a side effect of a trigger, and triggers don't always come with a warning, or even an explanation, but the more you dissect your thoughts, the more you get to know yourself and so the better you becoming at soothing yourself when faced with anxiety, panic, depression etc.

sour candy and cold showers. anything that sends a shock to your brain and distracts it lol.

but also!!! sweet treats and warm showers. self care!! anything that makes you feel like you're giving yourself time. even doing your makeup in the morning, if you do it consciously enough not just like another thing you have to do, can feel extremely loving and kind to yourself. and it distracts you from the bad and makes you focus on the good. I hope this makes sense!! I know sometimes its hard to even get out of bed, let alone do your makeup!! but if it's something you enjoy then try and remind yourself why it is you enjoy it so much when you don't have anxiety blocking you from doing it!

exercise. I HATE THAT THIS IS TRUE LOL. now listen. I've always loved running. I've always been a runner! I did track in high school, I went on runs for fun on a Saturday morning, like running was always my thing. but in the peak of my anxiety I strayed away from it so bad. I don't know why? I started going to pilates... now this is the thing. I don't hate pilates. pilates is great but it's basically strength training. and you often have to follow a class. and it used to make me so ACHY. like when I tell you I often hated being in class and doing the exercises and it never ever became like satisfactory. lmao. and I felt like it wasn't really releasing the dopamine running used to and so that's when I learned about a little thing called CORTISOL and how high intensity training can RAISE IT and make you feel EVEN MORE LETHARGIC because you're putting your body through STRESS. when I tell you I gasped. I was literally giving myself more anxiety lol. so I cancelled my pilates subscription (this was so badass and liberating) and I got a gym membership and I started walking on the treadmill (WALKING IS GREAT!!! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RUN LET ME EMPHASIZE THIS AND MAKE IT LOUD AND CLEAR!!!) (matter of fact! walking can be even BETTER for lowering cortisol, specially if you have a uterus and crazy hormones!! lol. and it's such great exercise that helps you body and mind!!!!) and then... I started running in intervals. like I would walk for 15, run for 15, etc. and now that's my workout!! I walk/run in the gym. or outside if the heat allows!! and it's really helped. I think the reason why this helps with anxiety is because I am left alone with my thoughts, yes. but my body is releasing the famous "feel-good-hormones" everyone talks about when it comes to exercise and, you guessed it, sex! so I think happy, giddy thoughts. lol.

lists. whenever I have anxiety I make one of two lists. a gratitude list (sometimes I have anxiety because I think life is bad and that something bad is going to happen and its all bad, bad, bad) so a gratitude list helps me remember that it's not all bad. and that there's a lot of good to rejoice in. and then the second one is a to-do list (sometimes I have anxiety because I have so much to do and I get overwhelmed and feel like doing NOTHING because I don't know where to start) so a to-do list helps me get my thoughts organised. also the feeling of ticking the boxes off is so satisfying. I am driven by reward lol.

everything's going to be okay. we get so caught up in feeling bad that we often don't like to remind ourselves this because we're used to suffering. and in its discomfort, we find it comforting. but everything's going to be okay. I never know how, but all I know is that it always is.
