He has you in his phone as 'Pretty Girl' - along with a contact picture of you sticking your tongue out at him in response to having his phone shoved in your face with the knowledge that he was taking a picture of you. (That tongue always makes him think certain things, so even though you intended for it to be some rude thing to ruin the picture, it makes it so much better for him.)

hii so i just suddenly remembered that today is october 16th aka tara maclay's birthday!! so happy birthday to my favourite fictional character ever, here's a little very rushed and very unofficial essay for you <3

so i already knew about her and her unfortunate fate since way back in season 3; i looked at a website about willow's best fashion looks, and her second from the top (before vampire willow ofc) was her and tara's look in once more with feeling. it said in the description, "lets just ignore what happened in seeing red" and ofc my curiosity took me to the buffy wikipedia synopsis, telling me all about her death. so that wasnt the best start.

but i fell in love with her just like willow did. i squealed during new moon rising when she confessed and blew the candle out. i melted during family when they danced together (on her birthday just like today!!). i cried at their first fight in tough love. i sobbed at the end of tabula rasa when tara left. i was so so hopeful at the end of entropy (i even wrote a fanfic on it that yall should defs check out). and i sobbed for hours. hours. after seeing red.

i loved her little friendship with dawn, with anya, with buffy, with everyone.

the way her character has changed me and made me realise things about myself is something that no other character has done.

her and willow made me realise that i was in fact NOT bi and actually lesbian. her sweet demeanour made me into a kinder person, although a bit more of a pushover. i loved her so much that i began to almost love myself. because i realised that there were parts of me that i had in common with tara. and i began to love them.

i became so so so in love with her. i watched every amber benson interview. i bought every piece of buffy merch because she made me love buffy. i bought the buffy tarot deck because i thought maybe she would be proud of me if i tried witchcraft.

she became a part of me. profile pictures, tumblr urls. i cant even explain how much i love her.

and then with the new audiobook im falling back in love with evil tara… her little evil laugh and her low voice is so aaahhhhhh. and her and drusilla make the cutest power couple.

she deserved more than to be shot dead by warren mears. she deserved the world. she deserved better than how willow treated her in early season 6. she deserved everything sweet and kind and beautiful in the world.

basically in conclusion she is a perfect angel who can do no wrong and if you say one bad thing about her i will come for you grr

16. a tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate

if I'm being totally honest with you, I haven't interfaced with the harry potter canon in a very long time. i already own all the movies and books and stuff, so I wouldn't even be giving jk money by rewatching/reading them, but it just kind of makes my stomach hurt when I think about supporting her in some way. I've had to work through a lot of complicated feelings in regards to jk and harry potter in general, as I'm sure many people have had to do! her words and actions and how I feel about it are not complicated at all, but what to do in the aftermath of it was something I had to figure out. the fandom that I interact with the most is definitely harry potter, but I have a bunch of other stuff I'm super into!!

the whole reason I got back into any fandom–and the entire reason I logged back into Tumblr for the first time since 2018–was because of our flag means death!! I've loved rhys darby since flight of the conchords and was so pumped that he was a lead in an hbo show! I was totally shocked when ofmd turned out to not be queerbait!! something about that first season just flipped a switch in me and I looked for fan fiction for the first time in like, 10 years!! I actually didn't even know about ao3 and tried to go to ff.net and it was a whole thing. getting back into fandom was very intimidating, I'm not gonna lie. (wow I really could just talk forever huh?)

my other fandoms are: the sandman, the witcher, good omens (I was so late to that show but jumped on right before the second season completely on accident), check please!, disco elysium, red dead redemption (especial rdr2), the x files, the walking dead, the rivers of london series, and d&d: honor among thieves.

and then there's some stuff that I don't even know how I got into!! like, the spideypool ship. gang, I've barely seen any marvel movies, I haven't read very many marvel comic books. and I honestly don't plan it because I just don't like marvel (once again, could go on about this forever, I was a manager at my local comic shop and have many opinions). but someone I follow posted about a fic (and I am not immune to beautiful fan art) and then I fell down the rabbit hole!! def have recs if anyone is interested!

another one is the ted lasso fandom. I genuinely don't remember why we never finished watching the second season but then the reviews for the third season was kinda mixed so I never went back to it. and then I saw a writer I'm head over heels for had a ted lasso fic (other lives by @andthepeople) and WHOOPS I fell down another rabbit hole!! i also have ted lasso recs!

essentially, if ya boy's read/watched/listened to something, you know he's gonna go look at what the freaks (affectionate) are posting on ao3.

home always feels like an episode they should have waited a season or two to do to me, when the mythology and characters were a little more lived it. I don't know if this makes sense, but i think in any other season, or even this season in the backhalf, this set up would have lent itself to a classic Dean Studies episode, and it feels weird that once we're actually in the house, we're actually seeing Mary, we totally pull back on Dean. Honestly, outside of the phone call to John, he's very sidelined despite this being an easy set up to explore backstory for him as the only character there who has a memory of the fire. And even Sam as the POV character falls flat not because there isn't interesting tension there, it could have worked! but because it's so heavy unfolding the psychic plot point and it's clear that that's more important to the episode than the family mythology. It just feels like you could take the bones of the episode, drop into season 3, and get something that looks completely different. (You said this much more eloquently re: the narrative, but I'm on s2 of my own rewatch and i keep thinking about this, haha).

hii sorry i didn't answer this sooner, but yea that's def how i felt rewatching it like, it just feels like it comes too soon for it to really *do* anything. we haven't yet really felt the haunting absence of mary. their main plot focuses rn are 1.) finding john (and in conjunction w/ that, finding and killing azazel) and 2.) literally just starting in this ep, sam's psychic visions. the whole concept of going back home and being confronted w/ their mother's literal ghost who recognizes and can talk to them is a HUGE thing that deserved to be the main focus, not a footnote in an ep trying to introduce a major plot element, sam's visions.

literally like you said, there's IS tension from sam's POV but they just don't go anywhere with it, since the focus is more on his psychic visions. like the scene w/ sam and mary could've been so much more. and if this came later in the season, or even a few seasons later, mary's "i'm sorry" to sam would've held more weight and packed a punch bc she feels responsible for what's happened to sam !!! for the deal w/ azazel and causing sam to be infected w/ demon blood. but sitting in the 9th episode of s1 where we still barely know anything it just falls flat and feels like she's just apologizing for what? dying? of course we have the gift of knowing everything to come later, but i'm trying to put myself in the shoes of the 2005 audience. what would they have thought she was apologizing for? like up until s4 that audience doesn't even know about mary being a hunter or her deal. so like, for those early years, it would just seem like she was apologizing for i guess not getting to sam fast enough to stop azazel and for dying ??

but yea anyways i feel like dean should've been the central character for an episode like this and we already know mary's death was traumatic for him. he tells lucas in 1x03 how he stopped talking after mary died. he tells lucas he's scared all the time but tries his best to be brave bc he thinks it's what his mom would've wanted. mary is such a central figure in dean's life and memories and is thee anchor to the myth of the "perfect family" that never was that dean is constantly yearning for and why family is so important to him. also comments like dean saying he always wanted to be a firefighter when he was a kid reveal a lot abt how much the fire affected him and fueled his desire to save people. and then in 1x09 Home itself, we see dean go in to save the blonde mom while he tells sam to save the kids which is interesting bc in 1x03 dean immediately goes for the kid and lets sam save the mom. so, it feels like subconsciously there's something there with dean and his desire to save mary. and this would've been a great episode to explore that trauma and guilt he has for not being able to save her (and god it's so irrational and he must know it, he was literally 4 yrs old what could he have done !!!) but still.

anyways this is getting long but yea i think at the very least, home should've come later in the season and not have to share the plot w/ introducing sam's psychic powers. there's just SO much they could've done with the whole concept of going back home and seeing mary's ghost. i wanted them to feel haunted !!!! haunted by home and the myth of mary !!!!!

i have some specific plans for where i want it to go so it’ll def take me a while to post it. and truth be told: i was mostly hesitant to admit the part of mixing up the pairs (because there’s a mix of rarepairs), so i'm so glad you’re interested in the idea!

so for anyone that’ll be reading this post i need you to be open-minded bout this post, it’s all just opinions. i'll be dumping a lot of thoughts about the canon ships cause i have been holding these things for. too. long-

so! first stop, to give my ranking of canon ships from the ship i like the most to least, they go as: (1) tecna and timmy, (2) stella and brandon, (3) flora and helia, (4) aisha and nabu, (5) musa and riven, (6) bloom and sky

i have the biggest soft spot for the earlier seasons so most of my knowledge is sticking out up to the believix season (the farthest i'll probably reach is sirenix). i'll be grouping my thoughts to refer to the canon ships in general and then i'll go to each ship one at a time (i'm sorry – this is gonna be long i have no self-control)

in general:

what i like – i find it unique for winx to use the specialists as sort of an “accessory” for the winx girls. like a ken to a barbie. cause yeah! this is about the girls, not them. it's unique in a sense that a lot of other pieces of media at the time really limits female characters (especially if she’s “the only girl” in the team) as simply “the love interest” so this switch for ALL the pairs was refreshing in its own right

what i don’t like – it fell short with the fact that each girl is paired with literally the guy version of themselves?? for majority of the canon pairings, it felt like the writers just copy+paste the personality of the girls and just slapped the design that aesthetically matches the guys their respective gf. tecna gets a tech-whiz dude. stella gets the most handsome and charming one. flora gets the pacifist and soft-spoken one. bloom gets the prince to her princess. in terms of personality pairing, i think the most big brain the writers did were for musa and riven plus aisha and nabu but that's sadly just about it just a third of the whole group

what i like – in extension to the first point, the fact that the girls save the guys more often. like heck yeah ladies!! it honestly would’ve been complete if the show let the girls carry their bf (cause i don’t ever remember this happening tbh). what’s the point of having magic if you can’t have a boost of energy to increase your strength?

what i don’t like – THE OTHER WOMAN ARC ALMOST EACH COUPLE WENT THROUGH. bloom and sky? diaspro (technically some would even debate that it was bloom but this is based of what the show’s perspective is telling us). stella and brandon? mitzi. musa and riven? darcy. i actually thought flora and helia would be safe but NO, there was krystal [cue me sobbing in the corner]. the only exceptions were aisha and nabu because of [coughs] lady death [coughs] as well as timmy and tecna

NOW, breaking down in detail for each canon ship let’s goooo

(1) tecna and timmy

LEAST PROBLEMATIC COUPLE GOES TO THEM

aside from being super awkward beans, they eventually got over that and learned to communicate better and i love that for them <33

the thing i dislike about them is that they’re too alike. like not just brother and sister, or twins,,,, but clones. sure tecna is more mature and in a way much more self-assured compared to timmy but my point still stands. maybe it’s just me but i've always noticed that the couples that are “too alike” don’t last long. sure there’s security and all but long-term? not gonna be much room for growth because they’re too comfortable and complacent with each other

i do salute how dedicated they are for each other. especially when timmy couldn’t accept that tecna “died” like,,,,, just wow,,,,,,, this man had ZERO proof to hang on to but he worked so hard to FIND a proof

(2) stella and brandon

i LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE the support they each have for each other – i super appreciate the fact that they support each other so much (brandon with stella’s passion for fashion, and stella overlooking brandon’s status of being a non-royal)

and that episode where stella was turned into a monster and brandon still loves her despite of it cause he knows her true self? permanently altered the brain of lil me when i first watched it, they pulled the biggest beauty and beast so flawlessly

now what i dislike about them. maybe it’s just me but the way the openly flirted with other people kinda made me go “????”. or maybe it's the metas getting to me but anyways flirting with people that isn't each other is mehhh but recieving compliments from others i totally love that for them. i love how confident and self-assured they were but i just don’t see that type of behavior not having consequences the longer they’re together. i personally envision stella as monogamous given her parents divorce and her dad remarrying. i’m pro-polyamory, but i can only picture stella being a flirt when she’s single (she can be a major flirt with her s/o tho just to be clear)

(3) flora and helia

it might not be the same for a lot of other fans but personally,,, they are THE MOST romantic pairing of all the couples – flora giving helia flowers, helia doing those funky flying origami cranes, the pOEms like yes pls i want that,,, i always see them cuddling or leaning to each other almost every time they’re so soft for each other

maybe it’s because i have a bias for flora but my biggest problem with them is that they barely have any screen time ?? there is sooooo little canon content (at least from the show) to use to get to know their relationship better that isn’t on the surface level

another issue i have is how dense helia is ?? there is absolutely ZERO reason for him not to introduce flora to krystal as his girlfriend. i know guys can be dense with girls having a crush on them (it’s literally what happened between him and flora that flora did the “first move” for him to “get a hint”) but why didn’t he say flora is his gf from the get-go? it's probably for the drama but i seriously can’t imagine that mr.romantic here didn’t introduce his girlfriend properly. the reason i'm using this is because with the little content we have and since krystal is the only girl we saw helia introduce to flora, it begs the question that would helia introduce flora to other people as just “his friend” ?? like what about his parents ?? or saladin ?? labels are important, it gives security and it makes sure the people involved are on the same page

(4) aisha and nabu

athletic magical girl and gifted magical boy? POWER COUPLE RIGHT HERE – they had soooo much potential

if nabu didn’t die, i definitely would have ranked them higher. but i do love a good angst so they deserve the fourth spot

the arranged marriage was THEIR trope and they owned it, they worked it out and eventually fell in love BUT

THE STALKING – JUST NOOOO. that made me so uncomfortable. that wasn’t cool or making sure they’re safe or just getting to know them through observation (even though this was nabu’s “case”) type of vibes it was CREEPY. the time they had together wasn’t enough for them to build genuine trust, it felt rushed to me. the execution could have been better, and the literal execution (the death part) could have come later

(5) musa and riven

infairness to them, riven is the only specialist that was involved with a witch before being official with a fairy so extra points for drama

the fact that they’re so flawed and openly argue is what makes them so intriguing, because shows at the time are so intent on showing the “perfect relationships” to the point it’s unrealistic. they got him to see the error of his ways so he and musa make up in the end

the problem is that the writers ABUSED the fighting. it came to the point that it’s the only defining feature of their relationship aside from riven’s major beef with this older blond guy that musa was attracted to (i would beat that dude’s ass i don’t care if it was a kid’s show) AND the fact that riven took guitar lesson just for her. the fighting became SHALLOW and TIRING and DRAINING. it became so numbing and i'm not even part of it, i'm just a witness

the fighting and apologizing and making-up was a realistic take on relationships that the writers did right on the early seasons. the later seasons tho? they threw that in the trash. but to think of it, it kinda of felt like they were both holding the short end of the stick. musa has to be the forgiving and patient one at every single turn which can’t possibly be good for her emotional and mental health while riven doesn’t feel completely safe enough with her to share his problems so he feels inadequate with being unable to properly communicate his feelings

i remember there’s even an extensive meta on how toxic their relationship is. there was a point that with musa’s mom dying when she was young, she didn’t have the proper role model or someone that decently explained to her how relationships work so she had this extreme and idealized version of romance that really put riven on the road to failure when it comes to their relationship

(6) bloom and sky

i swear it’s not because of the “i don’t really like the main couple i just have a preference for the bg/side couples” mindset BUT literally every other couple has a much more interesting dynamic than they do

full confession,,,, i just don’t like them as a couple,,,, at all. INDIVIDUALLY i like bloom and sky is alright, but as a couple they’re just not working for me

i guess the only thing i like about them is design-wise, they look good when they stand next to each other. i'm a major romanogers/clintasha and kim/ron shipper so redhead gal and blond boi have a soft spot to me

my biggest issue with sky are the LIES. homeboi didn’t admit he was engaged ?? who does that ?? yeah yeah for the drama and that’s just for politics and whatever but that’s STILL cheating tho. and what hurts more is that diaspro became this bitter ex for the rest of her career here like,,,,, they had a unique character (as far as i know, she’s the only gem fairy in the whole show) crumpled down this low and it was sure a bad rep to show to kids that break-ups literally BREAK you just [sounds of frustration being heard from miles away]

my biggest issue with bloom is she literally knows NOTHING about sky. i distinctly remember sky had an amnesia arc around the sirenix/harmonix season and bloom can barely tell him anything about his homeplanet or his family and her focus was all “do you remember anything about me?” like that,,,, was just not right,,,,, that was the weakest and worst amnesia trope in cartoon history and to add salt to that they were ALMOST gonna get married, like can you imagine? having very limited knowledge about your soon-to-be-spouse,,,, gee-

i’ll give them this tho, they kind of had something alllllmost interesting going on in the movies ngl

the tire def on the mediums was dreadful, like around 6 laps in and they're gone. with the hards however he was matching Max's time on mediums

how's the tire deg so bad on mediums whereas for hards it still looks okay

honestly lol throughout his session i was losing hope until he did the stint on hards . gave me a lil hope that we can compete on race runs. he's not really done any quali laps, was finding the balance in the car and it looked rlly understeery at one point.

hiya! I didn't watch today but I had a tiny look at the data.

Idk how much you know about the tyres but I'm just gonna start from the beginning because even if you already know maybe someone else doesn't.

There are 6 (8) tyre compounds for the whole season: C0-C5 and the inters and wets. (starting with 0 is very comp sci) And they pick 3 compounds per weekend that then become the hard, medium and soft that we are used to.

C0 is the hardest compound and C5 the softest and the harder the tyre is the "slower" it is but the longer it lasts so it has less deg. And it's the opposit for the softer tyres they start faster but degrade earlier.

As to the whole medium vs hard thing for Charles there a a few options. One being the car just likes the hard more that sometimes happens because these cars are weird. Or they did change something when he pitted because they are definitely still trying out things.

Or another thing could be that the fuel load was much higher on the medium stint than it was on the hard. That would explain why he was both faster and also a bit why the deg was so much better on the hards.

But idk! it's testing and a lot can change from today to tomorrow and even more until next week.

It's good to hear that Ferrari are happy and that they have good correlation with their simulations and such stuff but the rest doesn't really tell us all that much tbh

yes i havent gotten to that part in the show but im very aware that it happens 😔 it def still happens and i think about it like. constantly. i dont know all the details since i try to avoid spoilers but. ill give a rundown of my ideas

fun fact this is how i came up with the idea of dina originally but now its just kind of a timeline mess and mickey just nondescript has dina whenever i feel like it. originally it was like "hi mickey is going fucking insane crazy alone" lets get him a dog so he isnt so lonely

so like. mickey definitely blames himself 100000% since yknow. those are like the two most important people to him. he goes absolutely nutso working constantly to try and find them. he like goes crazy overthinking everything doubting himself constantly and like cuts his hair washes the dye out and tries to act ""normal"" to work better but overall it just kinda brings him down even more. the rest of the team and a few others pitch in and get him a puppy in hopes it would distract him, and it works a bit by giving him something to care about but. he still has a lot of trouble getting back to that same level of confidence and idk just that spark he had yknow. he contemplates going back to the special tactics team to be more proactive rather than reactive to crimes and stuff but he cant get the motivation to ever put the transfer request in.

he is super protective though of like tims desk and stuff and he WILL bite if anyone tries to touch it or say anything about he or gibbs being gone. when they finally find them he goes crazy stupid doing everything he can to help and like one of the first things tim says is that he cant tell who had the worse time, him or mickey and its one of the first times mickey really smiles since hes been gone <|3 theres a moment of like clarity there for them both like "holy shit i didnt know how much you really did mean to me and nothing was the same without you all other things aside" and lowkey they get married like shortly after bc what else would you do when u realize someone rlly is the love of your life. plus also hey i think that season was the same year gay marriage got legalized the writers really said gay rights huh. they knew they did it for me

1. omniscient reader’s viewpoint - an apocalypse webtoon whereas a man named kim dokja, a reader who finished a novel with a lot of episodes, tries to survive his world that’s plunged to the premise of said novel with the help of his knowledge of the story and certain characters that he befriended as they face life-or-death situations/scenarios. (amazing plot, amazing characters, amazing everything. def a 100/10)

2. the first night with the duke - a romcom isekai webtoon whereas an average college student wakes up as an extra and resolves to enjoy the luxuries of her character’s fortune with no purpose on intervening the novel she’s stuck in, only to wake up next to none other than the male lead. (very stress free AND completed !! it currently has a spin-off that’s on-going. 20/10 for me !)

3. revolutionary princess eve / the princess imprints the traitor - a fantasy-reincarnation-romance manhwa whereas the seventh imperial princess, evenrose, wakes up eight years before the fall of her kingdom by the hands of homunculus and is determined to change the future. (ml is a w and the manhwa is pg-13 with suggestive themes, but overall its a 100/10 for me)

4. i will be the matriarch in this life - another fantasy-reincarnation-romance(ish) manhwa whereas florentia, an illegitimate child of the richest family in the empire, reincarnates as her child-self after her family has fallen and decides to become the matriarch in her current life. (first manhwa that made me sleep happily after reading it, it’s def wholesome and sweet. the fl is a girlboss too so its a 1000/10 for me)

5. the way to protect the female lead’s older brother - a fantasy-isekai-romance manhwa whereas fl becomes roxana agriche, the older sister of the sub-villain of the novel, and decides to save the female lead’s older brother who was kidnapped by her family. (pg-13 as far as ik, not so wholesome but not too tragic either, has violence and blood, but the story is 🙌🙌🙌 so its a 10/10 for me)

6. father i don’t want to get married! - a fantasy-isekai-villainess-romance-comedy manhwa whereas fl wakes up as the villainess of a novel and tries to avoid her death flags by breaking up with the og ml. she then finds out that her father is going to pair her up with the crown prince — aka the person she last saw before she killed herself in her previous life and is rumored to be a bad person — causing her to try and find a way to not end up being with the crown prince. (very wholesome and funny, but there’s a lot of misunderstandings between fl and her father, but overall its a 20/10 for me)

7. death is the only ending for the villainess / villains are destined to die - a fantasy-isekai-villainess-romance manhwa whereas fl plays an otome game and suddenly woke up as the villainess, leading her to try and find a way to get out of there as she encounters various of male leads and obstacles along the way. (amazing plot line, amazing fl, and amazing drama, def a 20/10)

8. seasons of blossom - a modern-slice-of-life-highschool-romance au that has several different stories with each characters being related to seasons by names and focuses on their love lives and coming of age conflicts. (20/10 for me, i havent read season 2-3 yet but based on people’s reactions, season 2 will prolly make u cry)
