Sega's answer to Capcom's Biohazard series although it doesn't feature zombies but mutant crew members. The game takes place in an underwater research base infested with biowaste. All hell breaks loose so it's up to our hero to save the day. Deep Fear features some really nice graphics that are on par with Biohazard's as well as plenty of blood (^v^) The playability is a little fiddly at first, but you'll soon become accustomed to it. A special mention must go to the music in the game. Composed by Kenji Kawai who is responsible for many soundtracks to Japanese animation such as Ranma 1/2 and Patlabor. It's a shame that the person in charge of the voice acting wasn't as selective as the person in charge of the music.

Have you heard of “The Saboten Man” by Masahiro Fukuda? Feels like a game that would really be in your taste

I am quite familiar with it and, as you correctly point out, it is right up my alley. It is a unique project in the context of Fukuda-San's career, considering the fact that the rest of his work consisted mostly of character design for softcore erotic 3D CGI CD-ROM titles such as the Barbara trilogy or General Affairs.

I wished I had the chance to inquire him regarding the motives behind so irregular a career path, but alas he passed away in the early 2000's.

One notable exception would his collaboration with Highwaystar as the character designer for the equally obscure 1999 PS1 game JailBreaker.

Two lovely RPGs from the early days of Japanese PC gaming come to the Saturn thanks to GMF. These classic Falcom RPGs now come with lovely new introductions and fabulous CD audio. Some of the tracks you may even recognize are from Falcom's Dragon Slayer series. To be honest, these games look and feel incredibly dated now, in fact, they looked and felt incredibly dated when this compilation was released in 1998.

The scrolling is way too jerky, understandably in an attempt to recreate the PC-8801 mkII SR originals. However, if you yonder for the RPG experience of days gone by you certainly can't go wrong with this disc. After all, they are originally Falcom games.
