Propaganda: Because Yusei is one of the only people who could tolerate Primo, and also Primo deserves to be treated kindly. He only has the vague memories of being loved by someone, and Yusei is the kind of person to at least befriend anyone regardless of their background. If anyone would just unambiguously care about Primo, it'd probably be Yusei.

Pairing 3: Gentlegiantshipping (Misty Lola | Misty Tredwell/Bommer | Greiger)

Propaganda: I've had this agenda for several years and now I need to infect other people with it | So me and a friend came up with this pairing for a story and we ended up getting attached to it. But that's besides the point. Bommer and Misty actually have a lot of similarities (losing a younger sibling, revenge plots, etc). Their personalities are also similar.

It just makes me feral that the one (and probably only) person who showed Primo a single shred of concern was the very same guy he was actively trying to kill, and just thinking about what Primo must have thought then. How he must have felt, seeing that the person he taunted and hunted turned to him to help. When Iliaster didn't show a single shred of emotion to his state, and yet his "enemy" openly worried. About him.

Like he was worth something.

THIS bozo thought she could knock out a comic in a day and half and then ended up taking 5 days instead…. whoops!! anyway, scenario where Yusei has to put his mechanical know-how into fixing Primo for some reason or another…something something the intimacy of repairing fine machinery…. something something someone so adamantly proclaiming to be unloved and unloveable being shown patience and raw, genuine kindness and not knowing what to do about it… that’s the good stuff. to me.

Propaganda:  Bc it's one of the only straight ships I could see for Crow tbh. (The other being him and Aki, but that doesn't feel like a rarepair to me.) And because I like the idea of their dynamic being "tall, serious, scary lady with short, energetic, fun boyfriend". And because it sometimes feels like they have negative 5 fics on ao3. We all (by all I mean you me and the like maybe two other people in the highsidershipping club) know that highsidershipping is the perfect source of deep dark angst, but what about FLUFF what about SOFT MOMENTS what about HEALING-

I don't know if it's just me but I can see Yusei gently stroking Primo's hands (and I firmly believe Primo's hands would be absolutely scarred) to calm him down. Also naps. He would make Primo take naps and have naps with him (if Bruno needed sleep I can assume Primo does too if for the sake of this headcanon).

Anyway, highsidershipping deserves fluff.

i gotta admit, i'm really not much of an expert on fluff, unfortunately! But lord knows highsider deserves all the quiet moments of connection and tenderness it can get lol

Napping together is very sweet, but I am also quite fond of the alternative option, i.e. Yusei can take a much needed short rest in close quarters but Primo's mechanical makeup leaves his ass wide awake with His Situationship shoulder to shoulder with him. Oh to be overwhelmed by the realization that someone trusts you enough to fall asleep next to you...and also look very handsome while sleeping too boot >///> ......<////<;;;;

So, uh, I wrote a thing

Summary:

Placido was strong, independent, tormented. It was hard for anything to give him peace, hard for anyone to offer him solace. Who would have thought the one place he would find solace in, the one place he was able to sleep, would be the home of his old enemy?

(Aka Placido is sick of his home and ends up finding that Yusei's place is actually very peaceful and provides the perfect white noise for Placido to finally breathe, and Yusei himself is a very comforting person.)

Yes, it's highsidershipping! I've finally uploaded something that's actually Yusei/Placido (okay fine platonically and not yet am established relationships but still-)

The pairing of Yusei and Primo is essentially the kid who grew up with an actual stable family with the kid who grew up with the worst family imaginable, and I can imagine Primo talking to Yusei about stuff that happened to him in Iliaster or things Jakob would say to him and Yusei being like "Hey, that's not normal, that isn't what a parent figure does".

And when Yusei brings Primo to meet Martha she adopts him at once, and she's being all nice and caring and making Primo feel like he... Matters? That she doesn't instantly despise him?

Anyway highsidershipping is either the most angsty mess OR the purest thing with someone teaching another what love it

Idk if anyone else sees it, but Primo reminds me of Jack Atlas (hotheaded, stubborn, arrogant) and maybe that's just me but like

Imagine Yusei is reminded of how Jack was when he sees Primo and that's why (in an au where highsidershipping got to happen in some form and Primo actually got to exist as himself-) he wants to save him because he sees his big brother in Primo, but more specifically he sees the younger angrier Jack, the Jack that got taken advantage of and led astray, and also Yusei wants to save him because secretly he feels guilty for what happened between him and jack just like he felt guilty for what happened to Kalin and half of him trying to save Primo is him reliving that guilt and trauma and trying to erase that mistake he made too while also caring for Primo because Primo's a person to him and as such he still deserves saving but there's still that element of guilt-

Anyway it's 12 am I should be asleep but I'm not sleep and I'm thinking about Iliaster but they're an actual cult like how the first season was going instead of robots from the future and Primo and Lester are pretty much forced reincarnations of Aporia who was Jakob's son and the favourite of the cult leader Zone but was tragically killed and also Primo can see the future and believes that Iliaster really is trying to save the world from destruction because he doesn't realise his angry thoughts lead to angry possible futures, and Lester is even more of a lil shit and possibly the one person that scares Jakob and something about Aporia's heart vs his soul, and something how Primo was essentially doomed to grow up in Iliaster no matter what Aporia had or whether he had survived and something Primo and Yusei mirroring Aporia and Dr Fudo and something something highsidershipping something else highsidershipping something Yusei is the one person Primo grows to not be aggressive to the one person Primo tells the truth the one person Primo's actually kind to all because he's the one person who gave him that kindness first who gave him a gentle touch when all Primo knew were blows and taught him how to gently touch and how its okay that he's broken and that the future isn't destined and he can save himself now that he's the one making decisions about himself and i am just rambling here-

Why I like them/why I don’t: HE'S...MY... COMFORT CHARACTER!! *TELEKINESIS THROWING EVERYTHING AROUND THE ROOM* primo is just... really the kind of character that makes me insane thinking about him. what if you were a robotic clone of an old man's young adult trauma and you were also an archangel from the future but God didn't really like you very much and you also constantly beef with your coworkers, one of which is a child, and theyre both also you. what if you wanted to fulfill your purpose and die so so so bad. what if you had a KICKASS SWORD. WHAT IF YOU WERE A KNIGHT BUT ALSO A MOTORCYCLE. WHAT IF YOU SOUNDED LIKE SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG. EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM IS BONKERS. IT'S GREAT. HE'S RIDICULOUS.

What I like about their appearance: like. it's a very cool design. and it also sucks ass. his hair is so fucking stupid. his heeled boots have turned so many people's brains into complete mush. slash neg. he is literally italian flag colored. i love his freaky robot ass. i think my favorite feature of his is the aforementioned awful haircut and also his edgy red eyes. <3 computer bring up the image again

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?: im more 'can go either way' with lesterlucciano and jakobjose but Primo is Primo Forever to me. placido is Fine but i do think for once the dub gave the character an even more fitting name. though god knows at this point i barely call him by his name and instead a bunch of goofy nicknames like he's my pet. peemo. peem. pipi.

OTP: well my silly goose ass fucked around and got attached to a nicheship (yuseiprimo) (highsidershipping) (you know it's dire when You Named the Ship.) so here i am. i just like them a lot. accidentally got a crush on my maddening human rival and now i must swing a sword around about it. theres so much AU slow burn in my brain about them

NOTP: if you ship him with lester im coming out of your closest to attack you like we're in goddamn monsters inc.

OT3: yusei/primo/antinomy goes pretty hard, i can appreciate it. yusei and two guys who cant stand each other but have found themselves potentially unwaveringly loyal to him. it's a bit of the yuma/shark/vector type deal.

Favourite card they use: OF COURSE IT'S EMPEROR WISEL but especially after it absorbs Stardust DRagon and has the freak ghost dragon sword arm thing going on.... it's so cool that they made a Wisel card that's inspired by that i love when the card game does that.

Favourite moment they were in: A.) when he got cut in half. because holy shit. but more importantly B.) when he's gloating about his stupid robot army in that warehouse and Jakob calls him to yell at him about going against the plan and Primo is just looking away from Jakob's monitor like a dog that just got busted digging through the trash. this may be one of the funniest ygo screencaps im not kidding

Least favourite moment: all of that STUPID SHIT with team catastrophe and the stupid hook card that makes you crash your bike and all the scheming he did that ended up deleting akiza's powers. MISOGYNY. AND ALSO JUST KIND OF DUMB.
