High School Tennis Team Tryouts

Heyyy!!

First of all, DON’T BE NERVOUS!! I know that of course its a natural tendency to be nervous but making the high school team isn’t everything! Being nervous will most definitely cause more harm than good. (stress pimples!!) Here’s a few tips and tricks to relaxing and getting prepared.

1. To relieve the stress

Try coloring!! Works every time for me. Buy or print some coloring pages, and then just color your heart out! Personally I love coloring with the Prismacolor felt tip markers, they glide so smoothly and are just great. 

2. Practice Practice Practice

If you have time, just go outside hit some balls! Hit a few balls across your garage door, or rent an indoor court with your friends and practice your strokes, serves, volleys, overheads, etc. 

3. If you’re stuck at home...

Go to an open space where you’ll have enough room to swing your racquet. With your racquet just practice your strokes or serves, step by step making sure your technique is polished. 

4. Another thing you could do at home...

Practice your footing. Do little steps in between and then run to your left or right and pretend hitting a ball and then getting ready and again and just repeating that over and over again. 

5. Pack your bag the night before.

I have the Prince Tour Team 9 Tennis Racket Bag, which is all I need to bring. It’s really big, it fits 9 racquet, and still has room for more. But the night before pack all your racquets (at least 2), shoes, hair elastics, head bands, towels, sneakers, sweatshirt, sweatpants, anything you’ll need to have a successful practice!

6. Get a good nights sleep and eat a nice healthy breakfast. 

If you can’t fall asleep I recommend listening to Spotify’s sleeping peaceful piano playlists. Its super calming and I fall asleep to it whenever I have trouble sleeping. After a night of deep sleep, eat a healthy breakfast. A granola bar on the way out is NOT ENOUGH. Scramble some eggs, have toast with sliced oranges, etc.
