One more thing I created on vacation! I was doing some Highlights hidden picture puzzles with my little cousins. I wanted to try drawing one myself, and they greatly encouraged me to! I made a scene inspired by our family games of pool volleyball, being sure to include the kids’ favorite animals and a couple other cameos.

My Dearest Goofus,

By now, you've surely heard the news of my untimely illness. The doctors do not know exactly what it is that is wrong, but their prognosis is far from optimistic.

I know you think yourself to be some sort of black sheep in the family lineage, but truth, I never saw you that way despite how often our father would remark "Be like Gallant, not like Goofus." What those fools never understood is that you had the boldness to defy their and live only for yourself. I couldn't help but be jealous.

How ironic it is, then, that the boy who followed all the rules should be rewarded with an early death! While you were out travelling the world with nary a dollar to your name, experiencing true freedom as a vagabond on the high seas, I was stuck in this decaying castle. You remember, don't you? I'm ashamed to admit I've barely stepped foot outside Highlights Manor.

It is my last wish to see you one last time, dear brother. There is much to discuss, and treachery may be a foot.

I’m trying to find a story that was in a circa-2002 issue of Highlights for Children magazine.

The story was called “Tres Chic” and it was about animals (one was a baby elephant) at a (human) fashion show. I don’t remember the author.

I’m not willing to buy lots of Highlights magazines on eBay just so I can find this one story. So if anyone has it, please let me know! Thanks.
