Brisk Harpy: a courier organization dedicated to helping colonies out West primarily in areas where the UCA/Chiral Network can't reach. Gene Dawkins took up work at Brisk Harpy following her departure from Middle Knot City.

DUAT: A team of 6 individuals recruited by an offbranch of the UCA to allegedly assist with research pertaining to BTs and Beaches. Rumor has it the 6 are embued with special abilities and powers that give them domain over entities...Of course, that's hearsay. There may also be a 7th member but nothing substantial evidence wise as come forward.

Hi, I was wondering if I could ask for your opinion based on a post from someone else made recently. Would you consider rrfering to higgs as "peter englert" to be deadnaming higgs ? I know you haven't finished the game yet or the dlc, but so far what you think.

(I do this not to stir up discourse, but to be respectful to you when interacting with your blog and discussing higgs with you)

That’s alright, I appreciate you asking! (also sorry if this doesn’t make a lot of sense I’m pretty tired so my thoughts are a little muddled lol)(also also I just realised how long this is I’m so sorry lmao)

TLDR: I think it’s mainly up to individual interpretation as to how you refer to him, and I have no strong views either way. I mainly just call him Higgs since it’s easier for me.

Personally I have no strong opinions on it, as you said I haven’t finished the game or read the book so I don’t know everything about Higgs. I originally thought that Higgs Monaghan was his real name and Peter Englert was an alias he came up with, although I’m seeing some people saying that Peter Englert’s his original name (I’m not completely sure if it’s confirmed or not so I can’t really make up my mind on how I view it just yet). I guess if that’s the case then it’s more up to interpretation, for example if we stay with the idea that Peter’s his original name and he now goes by Higgs, then Higgs could either be his preferred name, or an alias and he still goes by Peter depending on the occasion. For me it largely depends on the context that you view the character in, I personally wouldn’t consider calling him Peter as deadnaming him as I feel Higgs is just another name for him (either as an alias or how some people like having multiple names—possibly for different situations—similar to a nickname).

I generally just refer to him as Higgs as it’s easier for me, but I have no strong opinions either way since I’m not currently aware if that was actually his name or if he has any strong preference as to how he’s referred to. Whether or not someone thinks that referring to him as Peter is deadnaming or not would largely depend on how they view him since I’ve seen a lot of different interpretations, and whilst I understand that some people might have certain opinions I don’t think that trying to push your interpretation onto other people is the best way to go around it, especially since it seems quite vague (I could be wrong, please correct me if that’s the case). Either way I don’t mind however you refer to him when talking about him with me, as I said I think it depends on how you view him as a character so I think it’s more of a personal preference rather than there being a strict right and wrong answer.

I say all of this as a trans guy who has two names aside from his deadname—my first one is my main name and preferred name which is what I often refer to myself and what most other people call me by (which is also the one I want to legally change my name to), and there’s my second name which is reserved for family. Whilst my second name originated from a nickname of my deadname, it still feels like a completely separate name for me and I don’t mind when people call me that, as opposed to being referred to by my deadname which I hate, even though they’re quite similar, so maybe Higgs’ situation could be similar to that, like I said with some people having different names depending on the occasion or how they’re feeling at the time, maybe Higgs mainly goes by Higgs and Peter is saved for the people he was/is very close to which is mainly how I view it, so again I’d say it’s mostly down to interpretation.

9. Could you become roommates with this character? Absolutely not have you seen the state of this mans home? I am a person who likes everything tidy, organized and soft coloured with my nerd things. This feral creature by contrast, has a den of empty pizza boxes, items he may or may not have stolen from museums; and a serial killer esque tracking wall for his Sammy.

I am not living with this not in a million years.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

It's more 'theory' than headcanon but I firmly believe the Higgs we see coming up in DS2 is some sort of Higgs/Amelie fusion person. Whether he's absorbed her ka or whatever the case may be, I 100% believe there is something up with that.

...Also I'm immature and always thought of 'homo demens' as 'homo demons' and ignoring the legitimate scientific naming I think he'd find that as funny as I do because he has troll energy.

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

Next to Snake, Kaz was a character I had heard of before I got into Metal Gear. I saw him on my dashboard from time to time, and online, so going into MGS my thoughts were like:

"There is a box in this game, there's gears, there's Snakes, and this one dude called Kazuhira Miller." I started with Ground Zeroes as my intro game (RIP) and I only knew him for a little bit before he was gone again, and then I got introduced to this torture cranky soul in MGSV and then later less-tortured in Peace Walker and I ended up prettty invested after that.

Peace Walker helped, as did going through the sporadic background stuff we get for the original MSX games. I was more invested in Ocelot for a long time though. (I still am do not be fooled by this). I think MGS made a REALLY interesting character with Kaz. One that I've written about time and time again, and I won't carry on about too much here. Nowadays I am extremely attached and invested, and I have SO SO many intense feelings about Kaz that I just

'Shower encounter'

Death Stranding OC Cosmic the MULE x Higgs/BTs

Warnings : Suggestive unconsented touching.

As Cosmic stepped under the cool blast of water, it took her breath away. It's exactly what was needed after a long hot day of chasing porters for their cargo. She couldn't wait to peel off the layers and let a cold gush hit all the bruises and aches. The outside make-shift shower made of a hose rig and plastic panels wasn't exactly luxury, but it was all they currently had. In MULE terms, it was an indulgence. Most went without running water.

Leaning forward into it so that the spray hit the back of her head, she surveyed her throbbing feet. Blisters covered her toes and heels. 'Hmm, really should upgrade my boots.' She thought. But there had been an odd shortage of decent gear recently, in particular boots. She could have sworn that they had grabbed some in the last encounter, but they were not amongst the shared loot back at camp.

An odd noise broke her thoughts. She straightened up and listened again, straining to hear over the torrent. She thought it sounded a bit like a growl. Her heart pounded, she stood still like a rabbit caught in headlights. Splat. A black handprint appeared on the ground a few metres away. Then another. She took a sharp intake of breath. 'That can't be what I think it is... There's no timefall...And the motion sensors haven't gone off.' The inky prints continued, moving in her direction. She stayed frozen to the spot, eyes wide in panic.

Suddenly a loud bang reverberated through the translucent sheeting next to her - a black tar handprint, followed by a clicking-like growl. Cosmic clamped her hand to her mouth to hold her breath. The urge to scream and cry out for help was overwhelming. The others in camp we were not far way, but too far to run, she would be dragged down before she got anywhere. She couldn't raise the alarm. She couldn't even grab her clothes or a towel. She was completely exposed, and in immediate danger. She squeezed her eyes shut, willing it to go away, shaking while her lungs burned for oxygen.

A voice full of southern drawl abruptly pierced the air in front of her. "Weelll, what do we have here? A lone little Mule." Cosmic gasped, attempting to cover herself with her hands, forgetting about the BT. A couple of metres in front of her a gold chiral skeletal mask appeared, seemingly out of thin air, and danced around with the whimsical voice. She stared, unable to speak with shock, clutching at her own chest and groin defensively. The voice continued after a chuckle, "Ah, ain't nothin' I ain't seen before, little MULE. Not that I mind having another look..."

The skull mask disappeared into a cloud of Chiralium, and with a pop appeared directly behind her. She jumped. The water pooling under her feet grew dark, it became black and sticky, rooting her to the spot. She swore she could feel hot breath on the back of her neck and shoulder, and all the hairs on her neck and arms erected as if the air was electrified. The shower water stopped. A black hand appeared from the puddle between her feet, and grabbed her calf. Then another slimy arm followed, groping her other leg. Cosmic whimpered. The golden mask laughed as the BT arms slid up her legs. They didn't pull her down but held her in place. The searching hands were cold, tacky, and smelt like death. "Please don't kill me!" she managed to blurt out. The skull face hovering over her shoulder chimed "Oh I wasn't going to KILL you....you're too much fun."

The tar arms continued their slow ascent, blindly grabbing, feeling their way. They got to her inner thighs, Cosmic clutched herself tighter, desperate to protect her most intimate areas, shivering from fear and the damp exposure.

Without warning, they stopped. She looked down to see only a now muddy pool she was stood in. The phantom voice echoed in her ear, "Got to keep you wanting more, little MULE..."

Cosmic came to her senses and made a dash for it. She used a towel for cover, and grabbed her clothes, running back to the MULE camp. A few of the others stared after her, she wasn't very often seen out of her suit. As she scurried past his tent crying, Franc looked up from weatherproofing a new pair of boots. He called out after her, "What?! You alright?"

The clicking sounds of the old polaroid was beginning to annoy Gene as she stopped and turned around. Her eyes darting over Higgs as he snapped photos at every little thing, discarding the pictures without a care in the world.

"If you keep this up, you're gonna give us away to Mules or god forbid people who want to steal our shit." Gene said as Higgs shrugged, smiling as he snapped a photo of Gene. She tried to get out of his line of vision, but it was too late.

"You need to learn to lighten up darlin'," Higgs teased as he picked up the polaroid picture, waving it so the image would appear quickly. "Sides' I haven't seen one of these things in ages. Last I checked they were on display in museums in the Knot Cities. I can see why the old timers loved this crap."

Higgs ran to catch up to Gene, causing her to gasp as he got in front of her and put the photo up. He held it side by side, tilting his head as he smirked.

"Shit, you really do look chubby from that angle."

Gene slugged Higgs in his upper chest rather hard. He grunted and rubbed at the spot as he laughed. His breath weightless as he composed himself.

"I'm just kiddin'!

"This is coming from a guy that has the face of a weasel." Gene countered, giving a roll with her eyes. Nonetheless she was playful as Higgs chuckled.

"It's better than ya'll calling me a sewer rat."

"I'll save that one for later, when you really piss me off." Gene smiled as Higgs shook his head. He stopped walking as Gene continued on ahead of him, and tossed the photo he took of her.

Higgs looked down at the camera, observing it before looking at Gene, watching the way she carried herself. An idea flashed in his mind.

"I got an idea, what if we took a selfie?"

Gene turned around and laughed as if it was the most idiotic joke she heard in ages. It didn't deter Higgs, nor did it settle the pleasant feeling in his gut as Gene backtracked to him.

"Don't you think that's a little--retro? Kinda tacky?"

"From where I'm standin' we're tacky people. C'mon, we'd look cute together."

Gene had a lot of regrets about Higgs finding that blasted thing, but she had to admit it seemed fun. She sighed in defeat, then smiled as she stood by Higgs.

"Think we gotta get closer?" Gene asked as Higgs tried to position the camera so both of them would be in the frame.

"Yeah, maybe--mind if I?" Higgs gestured at Gene's body, making sure he got consent to put his left arm around her waist to pull her close to him.

Gene shrugged, not seeming to care as Higgs snaked his arm around her. His fingers gently brushed over the material of Gene's clothing as he held her, savoring the moment before counting down.

"One, two, ouch! Shit!" Higgs yelped as Gene grabbed the back of Higgs's hair at the last second, the flash going off a few times as she cackled. Gene nearly fell back as Higgs balanced himself.

"The hell did you do that for? Could've broke the damn thing."

"That was for the chubby comment."

Higgs rolled his eyes and smiled. "You just can't let shit go, can you?"

"No, not really no." Gene said amusingly as she bent down and picked up the picture. She started to wave it, mimicking the motions Higgs did earlier. As the image cleared up, she snorted, her hand covering her mouth briefly before showing Higgs.

Higgs had the face of a looney toon character as he yelled mid shot. Gene's mouth was wide open from laughter. By all accounts the two of them looked goofy. Higgs shook his head, sighing with mild disappointment as he spoke.

"So much for a kodak moment,"

Gene took the photo from Higgs and shrugged. "It's fitting for us. We're both weird. Want to do one more?"

Higgs smiled, the two of them positioning themselves once again. Gene caught a smirk from Higgs from the corner of her eye, but before she could react his tongue ran down her cheek. She gagged, jumping back as the camera flashed. Higgs's laughter radiating in her ears as she wiped her cheek and threw dirt at him.

"Fuck you! That was gross!" Gene said mid laugh, casting some small rocks in Higgs's direction.

"I could've done worse, much worse. However, there's some part of me that thinks you enjoyed that." Higgs mused as he waved the photo, catching it before it hit the ground.

"I'd rather get licked by a dog." Gene said as a matter of fact, rubbing her skin as she approached him.

When the image appeared, Gene and Higgs laughed at the silliness of it. Especially Gene's expression of disgust while Higgs looked like he was having a little too much fun performing that stunt.

When their laughter died down, Gene and Higgs looked at their respective photos then traded. Higgs keeping the first one they took, while Gene kept the second.

"Next time we fight, let's pull these out as a reminder we're on the same page." Gene offered as Higgs looked down at her. Their gazes meeting as Higgs admired how soft Gene's smile was. He nodded, looking down at the photograph.

Gene was going to have to head back to Brisk Harpy the following day, and wouldn't be back for a couple weeks. He didn't want to admit it, but he was going to miss her. Terribly.

"Yeah, it's a deal."

Hello Hello, welcome to the first post of this account.

To explain a little bit, I have a class where I need to do something for a total of 30 days. It can be anything I want, so I chose to post on Tumblr.

Today's random hyperfixation thought is about:

Death Stranding

I've been hella obsessed with Higgs from the game and just, it's become dangerous at this point.

My self-insert character ended up working as a hacker for him after she tripped into a ravine near the Distribution South of Lake Knot City. She only happened to sprain her ankle, but with Timefall fast approaching, she would be screwed.

So good ole Higgs happens to be passing by, sees the damsel in distress, scoops her up and gets her all patched up. Of course, he asks for something in return for such a generous gesture. So, she works for him, messing with Bridges systems, occasionally Fragile Express too.

Quick context, Sky worked by contract doing the same for Bridges, however, they did not treat her well as an employee. She would stay up for endless hours to meet absurd deadlines, barely even eating in fear she'd waste too much time.

So, when she started working for Higgs and repeated these same habits, the big man himself did not like it. He didn't like that she believed she needed to deny herself basic necessities like food and sleep just to get work done. He had to intervene himself, telling her to take a break.

Even if he is a terrorist, he can be a nice man.
