Of all the families to work for, the Sinclair’s seemed to be the best of the bunch, personality wise. Granted, they could pay William a bit more, but he was not about to complain when there had been so little options left. To William, Jasper was one of the few that didn’t lord his titles about which was a welcomed change. William’s uncle had always taught him that the measure of a man could be seen by how they treated others, animals included, and Jasper had nothing but care for his beloved horse it seemed. “I promise you; no horses will be sold without my due diligence, and I know that Tessa is off limits.” Though she was one of the few Sinclair horses that could fetch a fair price. “Perhaps your brother may find himself in some fresh manure for his troubles?” William half teased. He was all too aware of sibling jests and the one he suggested would, no doubt, have its desired effect.
“I’ve settled in well, my lord, but I do miss the country.” William offered the man a cut up apple, a treat for the horses. Although William could do with more staff under him, he’d even settle for a green stable hand, his time was well managed. Even if that was not the case, how could William find the time to escape the hustle of the city. “I would not be doing my job if I let you run amuck with the horses,” William said with a glint in his eye. “Providing there are no ladies in expensive dresses, I think the lake would be suitable." William chuckled as he recalled the incident with an uppity lady earlier on in the week. “Are you ready now?”
( @oferwood -- The Sinclair Stables )
"William." A name, soaked with worry, echoes through the stables, as Jasper rushes into the stables, "Where is Tess?" His dearest, beloved horse, called Teresa, shortened to her favorite nickname, Tess. Jasper panics, as he cannot spot chestnut fur immediately. "Good heavens." Relief washes over him the moment her head pops up from behind her box. "My brother made a ungodly, awful joke about Tess being sold, on accident." It is clear that he has been running, out of breath as he is, "He scared me to death, unfunny as he is." Jasper does not specify which brother, instead, he walks past William, to gently pet the mare's nose.
"Now that that is settled, how have you been?" Brushing through her fur, Jasper turns to face him, "I was thinking of going out for a ride. Are you very busy today, or do you have a little time to spare? I thought you could accompany me until we reach the lake. If that is of your liking."
