how should wards be written in/associated with the established families?

good morning, nonnie! a ward can either be a sent to a guardian named in the will of a parent to take care of their child when they pass, or sent to a proficient family after their parent pays a certain sum for them to be taken on by the aristocratic family. the motivating factor of this is usually to ensure they will be the means to have certain prospects in the marriage market, a dowry paid up front for a fem ward (while the parents continue to pay it back in increments to the guardian family), receive a proper education, and guardians even provide permission for who they can marry. some wards can stay with aristocratic families for just a social season, or until they marry. wards essentially mirror a foster child to many of these families if the parents are still alive, or are an adopted child if they were an orphan. because of their connection to the aristocratic family, wards are not typically treated any differently than the other children within the family by outsiders. they could be regarded as a spectacle because they may have not grown up in the city, and they're 'shiny and new' for many citizens of mayfair. dependent on circumstances surrounding adoption, maybe there's more to it. all depends on what you make it! as of right now, you can add a ward to any family but the sinclair family will only have one. this is because they already have one young daughter, and there's already potential competition in place for marriage prospects.
