his wife went off and died or didnt want the responsibility of being a parent or something and left him with their baby girl who is quite literally his spitting image. she is the most spoiled little girl in the world. he would DIE for her.

he teaches her to target and bully lightning 24/7, lightning casually standing around the garages watching them work on his car just for a 3 year old in a frilly green dress to walk by and call him a “fucking loser”, none other than chick hicks holding her hand giggling like a 3 year old knowing swear words is comedy gold.

he spoils her rotten and sometimes takes her on Chicks Picks with Chick Hicks, his production crew watches in dismay as he lets her run free around the studio being a little demon of their nightmares, and then he picks her up and starts talking about racing and she acts like the most innocent little angel in the world (the camera man is shaking and crying because she knocked over one of their expensive lights)

Acting like All American just doesn't understand grief and that's why their moment was in the middle of it is the dumbest take I've seen. Like I wasn't trying to say anything but acting like oh this show just didn't understand not to do it like that. Oh no. They understand grief better than any show I've seen. All American knows having romantic moments in grief damages moments and that's why they do it. It's not an accident. This whole point of ignoring what's going on around them because it has nothing to do with the romantic moment- but it does. They want you to be like, ugh but why now his dad just died. They want THAT reaction during those moments as they do them. They don't want you to ignore it. Dimone and Jordayla's moments weren't by accident. The show wasn't trying to be like look Dimone's first time and Jordayla's proposal is the EPITOME of romance (ignore the grief). They wanted the audience to side eye the timing of it. And you know how you would know that, if you watch the show. Because the writing says it over and over. The writing called Simone out for trying to confess to Damon after his dad died. How they treated Spencer and Olivia, the couple they will always protect first and foremost, Spencer said we can't say our feelings right now. We have to be clearheaded. Nate calling it out, Spencer saying we can't right now. They KNOW it taints the moment.

If you are having a big moment in grief. It's not an accident baby girl.

My parents are great but I am kinda worried about how they will appear at the banquet ceremony lol the email we received specifically said jeans would not be appropriate, it's professional/semi-formal and when I told my parents they were like uhhhh.... but dad only has jeans.

I am vaguely aware that Runaway Max presents Billy’s racism as something he adopted wholesale from Neil, but, given the nature of their relationship, I don’t think that’s the most likely explanation.* I imagine that Neil is racist in a pretty standard way for a regressive man in 1984, in that he publicly tolerates (yet perhaps privately resents) “respectable” black people while hating more acceptable targets (the poor, the homeless, addicts, criminals, unwed mothers, etc.) in a very racialized manner if they happen to be black. And I think that, on a surface level, Billy thinks Neil is a stupid, square old man who sucks, partly for regular teen rebellion reasons and partly because Neil is a violently abusive father who really does blow chunks. Yet Billy hasn’t really examined why those attitudes are bad, especially if they don’t affect him directly. And I think his racism is most likely (a) a kind of edgelord rejection of what he perceives as lame 1960s hippie ideals and (b) one of many conduits for expressing his rage (using racism as a pretext to almost kill a middle school kid and terrorize/isolate Max).

*There doesn’t necessarily need to be an explanation for why a white person is racist in a systematically racist society—to a certain degree, it’s something a person absorbs without trying—but Billy’s racism is more active and extreme than the norm.

Dimone got a grief fuck Jordayla got a grief proposal

AAU knows better. They had Simone and Damon sleep together for the first time while he was crying about his dead dad not because they thought it was the perfect timing for them to share their first time but because they wanted Nate to tell Simone that man was GRIEVING HIS FATHER! They know it’s wrong. To act in grief. That’s why they did it. They stained the moment on purpose.

Just like Jordan’s grieving episode was the first time Jordan and Layla said I love you and he was suddenly the most upset he’s ever been about his dad in the episode he proposes. They are showing this man is not okay and he is grieving. He is not in his right mind. He made his proposal about Billy. This show knows acting in grief is not how you want things to happen. They call it out constantly.
