As unlikely as the theory of Hibari being Akainu’s daughter may be, I still can’t help but want it to be true. I think it’d be absolutely hilarious if the scary Fleet Admirals very own daughter had a big fat crush on the guy he tried to kill back in the Marineford war.

For Reborn, Tsuna and Hibari for canon characters? 🥺✨ I'm curious abt ur thoughts on them too hehe
send 🍯 for a food headcanon
send 💕 for a love headcanon
send 😵 for a sickness headcanon
send ⛈️ for a sadness headcanon
Hello Ein, slowly but surely I am answering these questions hehe 💕 Thank you for sending these in I had so much fun answering them!!! I hope they are to your satisfaction!!
Edit: aahh!!! I'm so sorry I suddenly realized I forgot to do the sadness headcanons for them all!!! I gomen 😭
🔫Reborn
🍯 for a food headcanon
So… This isn’t even a headcanon but is canon as I’ve come to happily learn as I am a crazy and delusional Reborn fan my apologies ♡ but Reborn is a big foodie. Loves to eat and is actually not very picky about his food. One of his favourite things about travelling is trying all the different cuisines! Not to mention he’s definitely someone who has had the opportunity to try some of the best and even fanciest foods in the world. All that being said his favourite meals will always be a home cooked meal made with love. I won’t go into it too much here because it isn’t the right place (this is about food not family!) but I have always headcanoned Reborn as an orphan so to him being able to have a home cooked meal is a privilege he will always acknowledge in his heart and never not appreciate.
💕 for a love headcanon
Two words I would use to describe Reborn are loyal and devoted. When it comes to the ones he loves (Both romantic and platonic/familial) Reborn believes in absolute loyalty. You may not expect this coming from a murder-for-hire hitman but once you become a loved one in his eyes you’ve gained his loyalty and devotion (So don’t make him regret it or else… Well you’ll soon be the one regretting it 🔫/j) . And he naturally expects the same from those he let’s into his heart! In fact, loyalty is a quality he can greatly appreciate in someone else (as long as it’s not blind and reckless devotion). So yes, while Reborn’s loyalties can be bought if you’re hiring him for his skills, his heart is something that can not be!
This got quite long so the rest are gonna be put under the cut!
😵 for a sickness headcanon
Reborn himself has a good immune system! And he doesn’t allow himself to get sick often but when he does catch the occasional cold, flu, or fever, he does ignore it for as long as he can. Maybe allows himself a moment of bed rest before he’s back to the usual grind. He just doesn’t have time to be sick and naturally hates the weakened state it puts him in.
But… after he meets Apple, and the very first time he gets sick around her she’s immediately on his case forcing him into bed and not in the way he would prefer lol and she’s fluttering and tittering around him like a worried mother hen. And for once he's being taken care of and isn’t being allowed to ignore his health. He’s understanding for the first time what it’s like to be doted on and cared for and he finds he quite enjoys it. And maybe… Just maybe, he’ll even stay in bed an extra day or two and allow his body to get some rest…
🐟 Sawada Tsunayoshi
🍯 for a food headcanon
It takes a while for Tsuna to get used to Italian food. When he first moved away from home and relocated to Italy permanently the novelty wore off pretty fast and he found himself missing and craving Japanese food every day. The restaurants just didn’t quite make it the same way, and he especially missed his mother’s home cooking. He did teach himself to cook as he grew older, and so even when he tried to replicate her recipes it just never quite hit the same. Then when he went to go visit his mother and old friends in Namimori that first bite of the hambagu his mom made for him was just so divine… And yet… He couldn’t quite help but miss the taste of Italy as the days passed.
💕 for a love headcanon
At first Tsuna would be rather reserved and shy about his affections. It’s not like he wants to be, heck if he could I’m sure he would love nothing more than to flaunt and show off his partner/significant-other. But he definitely has too much self-awareness and shame to do it so brazenly it’s okay Tsuna as someone with social anxiety I so get you. But this is something that changes with time and comfortability. While at first, he may even be reluctant to take their hand in public (or he'd get overly blushy and in his head about it sorta like in canon when he gets lost in his own daydreams and starts to get distracted and drool lol), but with time and growth eventually acts of affection come more naturally. He has no problem grabbing his partner's hand, putting his hand on their waist. There’s no unsureness or reluctance as he proudly introduces his partner to others, the pride in his voice even more obvious actually. One thing though that never changes is the look of love and adoration he has in his eyes when he looks at them. Still as love-sick and head over heels as the day he first fell in love.
😵 for a sickness headcanon
Growing up whenever Tsuna was sick it was always his mom taking care of him. He never had to really think or worry much. Just rest and get better. So, the first time when he was older, and he was away from home and sick. He couldn’t do anything but lie there feeling awful and miserable in bed. Too tired and worn to even get up and get himself some water to soothe his aching throat. In that moment he missed his home in Namimori more than ever. Missed his mom, the kids and he never realized how lucky he was before to have a noisy but warm home. Eventually, he falls into a fitful rest.
When he awakens there’s a cold damp cloth over his forehead. To his side is Reborn reading some of the unfinished files he left out. No doubt judging his messy work. He hears the sound of something breaking in his kitchen before the door of his bedroom door is bursting open with flustered (and slightly angry) Gokudera holding a bowl of congee comes in. His face immediately lighting up when he sees Tsuna awake. Then, just as quickly Yamamoto is entering his room too, an apron tied around his waist. They both take a moment to ask how he is and fuss around him in their own ways. Reborn would tell them they’re both being too noisy but, in a way, only Tsuna can tell is filled with fondness. And… Tsuna knows his kitchen (and probably his living room too) are gonna be such a mess. He definitely heard something break earlier. But right now, it doesn’t matter. Instead, he just lays back down. Tired but content.
🐥Hibari Kyoya
🍯 for a food headcanon
Hibari to me doesn’t feel like a very picky eater. Yes, he has his preferences, which lean on the more traditional side, however he’s pretty open to eating most things! And not to mention he can eat quite a bit in one sitting too thinking back to that one ova where he steals all the food lol. That being said I do think Hibari is the type to not like take out and instead prefers home cooked traditional meals instead! Now, do we think Hibari can cook? Honestly? I don’t think so. He could maybe if he really tried but why would he? He’s always had food prepared for him and if for whatever reason there wasn’t food already cooked for him, he has no problem just taking someone else’s meal. Anything within his presence is his now good luck trying to get it back❤️
💕 for a love headcanon
Hibari is absolutely an action over words person. I think a lot of people will initially think he’s not a very affectionate person, but he is! He just shows it very differently from others. In fact, I feel like Hibari often gets mischaracterized as not being very emotive but he really is! He shows his emotions with his whole body. And I think this is especially obvious when he’s with someone he’s with someone he likes/loves. He’s not gonna say outright he loves them but he’s gonna find subtle (and not so subtle) ways to be around that person. Crowding around is fine as long as it’s with the right person <3 /hj… Will he still probably fight that person though and be the absolute menace that he is? Yes absolutely.
Also, his love language is acts of service so he’s your guy if you need help hiding a body.
😵 for a sickness headcanon
He doesn’t get sick often actually! Takes pretty good care of his body but my god he is fussy as hell when he is sick. By this I mean he’s demanding. Needs to be waited on hand and foot, make sure he’s got any liquids or foods on call or already ready just when he wants it. His bed needs to be set up made just the way he likes it and better not let anyone disturb his rest or else he’s gonna make it everyone else’s problem. In general, he’d just be the worst patient to have.Perhaps that’s why he prefers to just go to the hospital when he’s feeling under the weather as that means he already has many people at his beck and call and having the hospital director bribed certainly helps with that too. Original Prompt List ☆
#... I didn't say names but... just know during the love headcanons I was thinking about Kurumi and Kana <3#and of course I had to talk my own oc for one of Reborn's lol#this is an OC blog after all no matter how much I enjoy talking about the canon characters too#canon: hibari kyoya#canon: reborn#canon: sawada tsunayoshi#oc: apple#ship: reboapp#tsuna's ended up being so long I didn't know I had so much to say about him lol#ask meme#tbh I realize I am not so confident in how I write hibari so that's definitely something to work on!!!#okay also another edit: I keep trying to add a cut/read more but it just ain't working#i'm so sorry for anyone who has to scroll past this

If the Hibari = Akainu’s daughter theory is true then it would be an interesting way to give Akainu some depth as an antagonist. Even someone like him is fighting to protect his wife and child. Which would also make him extra hypocritical for trying to kill Coby for stopping the war… “Every soldier has a family waiting for them back home!”
Or maybe his wife was already killed by pirates (his parents being killed by pirates already seems pretty certain judging from his childhood picture). With both parents and wife killed, Akainu went off a deep end and devoted his life to exterminating pirates. Maybe that’s why he said “You pirates don’t deserve a home”. He’s jealous that WB got to keep his family while he couldn’t.
With that extreme mindset I assume he’s not a good dad either. Wouldn’t say abusive without proof, but he’s at least extra harsh and definitely forces the Absolute Justice ideology on Hibari. Which would make another parallel to WB who lets his sons think freely: “If you’re pirates, choose what you want to believe!”
#one piece#akainu#hibari#whitebeard#it lowkey overlaps zephyr backstory but hey#i like the ‘character so deep in revenge that they turn into a piece of shit and ruin everything they had left’ trope#also the ‘character raised in a strict/abusive household is determined to be extra kind and gentle to break the circle’ trope#spent too much time on something that’s not even confirmed lol#looking forward to the next developments

Do you know which tweet of Eguchi's has him confirm Hibari is trans? I haven't been paying much attention to his feed since it's mostly atm about his art exhibitions.
It was actually in an interview Eguchi did in France, due to the French translation of Hibari having been recently released and put up for an award.
“J'ai choisi un personnage transgenre car cela participait au ressort comique, la question transgenre au Japon à l'époque (dans les années 1980) appartenait à un milieu très fermé[…]”
Eguchi doesn’t speak much French to my knowledge, but the interview was done with the manga’s French translator serving as Eguchi’s interpreter, the pair having spent a couple of years in correspondence to make sure the translation was up to Eguchi’s standards (and they did indeed win the award for the manga’s translation), so I think it’s fairly safe to take ‘transgenre/transgender’ as a correct interpretation of Eguchi’s modern position on Hibari.
#stop hibari kun#the aware was given by the Japanese embassy to France so… very prestigious#some of the language/pronouns in the actual text are messy but hey we got the word stated plainly in an interview#also I remember a couple years back Eguchi liked or retweeted something from an English fan calling Hibari trans but…#I haven’t been able to find that again. 😔

OPKisstober: Meet the Family
Day 15 for OPKisstober: Kin'emon/Tsuru
“I’m so nervous, Kin-chan…” Tsuru muttered as they walked through the hallways of Oden Caste together for the first time.
Kin’emon chuckled, glancing over at his girlfriend and childhood friend. She was gripping at her kimono sleeves, her eyes jumping all over; she looked so small in that moment. “Don’t be. Honestly, I should be the one who’s scared. These guys are absolutely going to be embarrassing.” Kin’emon made a face; he could just imagine the dumb comments…
“That’s Kin-san’s girl? How the hell did he strike that?”
“I know, right? She’s way too pretty for him.”
“Guys, I think they can hear us…”
“Let Kin’emon hear, Kiku. He needs to know how damn lucky he is. I can’t even get a single date with a kunoichi!”
See? He could already hear them in his head, those assholes.
Suddenly, Tsuru stopped walking, bowing deeply. “Hello. My name is O-Tsuru. I’m Kin-chan’s girlfriend, thank you for taking care of him all this time.”
Kin’emon blinked, looking up… only then realising he wasn’t actually imagining his companions’ voices. They were, actually, already being annoying and spying on them from inside one of the rooms.
Taking a deep breath, Kin’emon glared at his friends—at the people he had come to call family. People he now felt like murdering. Maybe not Kiku, she was just a kid still, but the guys? He would enjoy slicing them.
But, before he could snap at them to get lost, Denjiro took the lead and stepped out of the room, bowing to Tsuru deeply in return. “Not at all! It’s a pleasure to meet you. I can’t imagine the troubles Kin-san had put you through.”
“We’re sorry for your struggles,” Kanjuro joined in bowing as well.
“Stop bullying, Kin-sama,” Kiku said, a small pout on her lips before she quickly bowed as well.
“Oi,” Kin’emon growled, his eyes narrowing, but he stopped when a quiet, soft giggle reached his ears.
As he glanced at Tsuru… his breath hitched in his throat. She was covering her mouth with a kimono sleeve as she laughed, the corners of her eyes crinkling with joy. She looked much more relaxed now, as oh-so beautiful… And despite himself, Kin’emon had to admit Raizo was right.
He really was so damn lucky.

Well. I don’t like gag manga. Mainly because everything is cut short and not a lot happens. Like. I might like a couple of them. But I just read a gag manga that could have had a deep romantic comedy story going that could have lasted a long while. Instead everything felt cut short to all hell, I got like nowhere near enough interaction between the main couple, and it felt like I was missing out on 2/3s of a full on manga. It was a decent read and I am happy that it existed and all of that. But it really just made me want more and something more full. Also. It was clearly cancelled and just got cut off in a very unsatisfying way. And the thing is. There aren’t many other manga out there that have similar themes. And I think I read a good chunk of the good ones that exist.
#manga#I read stop hibari-kun#good but stopped way too soon#and just had way too many holes and plot lines that felt dropped#such an unsatisfying read#I need another cross dressing or trans manga stat#but for the most part I would have to reread something or read something I am getting physically in a couple months#stop!! hibari kun!

the problem with stop hibari kun isnt really that it's transphobic it's that almost every chapter/episode it will fucking hit you with nauseatingly racist caricatures of black & indigenous people
#woof#literally some 19th century propaganda looking shit. it;;s rough#its other issues are like normal anime bullshit but this was hard to deal with not gonna lie#this isn't something that gets discussed much in retrospectives about the series so i literally didnt know going in#idk for all that i love hibari herself. the series is really kind of edgy and mean spirited a lot of the time

Haru is indeed a generous person, willing to relay messages for a certain aloof cloud guardian. There were some benefits to her doing so, so she didn't see it as a loss by any means.
"Ah... yes, Haru understands."
The disciplinary prefect falls asleep again and Haru lost her chance to ask how long he would sleep for. She was effectively trapped here if just the sound of a leaf falling could stir him from his slumber. Surely getting up from her seat would wake him- and then spell her untimely demise.
Woe is Haru. With a silent pout, she quietly ensures that the birds had the seeds that they'd need and quietly observe as they peck at the seeds. Would he wake himself, or were the birds fuctioning as a living alarm clock and wake him up with a song?
Guess there is only one way to find out (QuQ).
UKIGUMOS - »❝浮雲❞«
"Hmm. How generous. Becoming my personal postwoman so eagerly." He was being sarcastic. "I'll use this to my advantage if you insist."
Little did Kyouya know that this would be a useful activity later down the line.
Lifting his hand, he caught another yawn. He debated on whether or not he should continue his attempts at getting some rest and blinked slowly. Hm. The grogginess was beginning to settle.
"Suit yourself. I'll be resuming my nap. Make any sound and you know what's coming."
Kyouya shifted, making himself comfy on the couch once more. He curled up like a cat and threw his jacket back over himself.

the Nerima Wrecker Crews' Guide to Ranma Fandom for Newcomers
With the release this month of a brand new anime adaptation of the eighties manga Ranma ½, a lot of new fans are joining an older fandom that may leave them...confused about some details.
See, when the Ranma manga began in 1987, series creator Rumiko Takahashi was already solidly-established from her success with the runaway hit Urusei Yatsura. It only took two years for an anime adaptation to begin airing....for a mere eighteen episodes, before being canceled. If you go back to the '89 anime, you will almost certainly notice some drastic shifts in art style and tone from the first eighteen episodes to the remainder, and that's because only a single season was produced by Studio DEEN before production shifted to a new directorial crew, who dubbed the following season Ranma ½ Nettōhen (Fierce/Hot Battle Chapter).
The thing is, between the original eighteen episodes being made while the manga was still relatively early in its nine-year run, attempts to draw in better ratings by heavily promoting fan-favorite characters, a need for filler episodes to let the manga catch up to the pace of the anime's releases, and even the biases and friendships of the respective directors and writers...some things wound up being different.
And as a result, the Ranma ½ of the Eighties and Nineties is very different from what we're going to get with the 2024 anime. The 2024 series is based on a manga that had been finished for decades, and between the official releases so far and some unfortunate early leaks, it shows plenty of signs of being far more faithful to the original manga.
So, we of the Nerima Wreckers' Crew are here to introduce you to a few of the things you might run into as a new Ranma ½ fan exploring the existing fan content that has accrued over the past few decades!
Be aware: you're about to read spoilers for a four decades old manga. Questions about something that we don't cover in this post? Leave a comment asking for more, after the jump!
Something to get out of the way first: we're the NWC as an in-joke: as both Transformers and Ranma fans (and in some cases, fictive introjects), we wanted to combine the 'Wreckers' group name from Transformers with the English-language Ranma ½ fandom's nickname for the group of martial artists, students, teachers, monsters, and other characters who populate the series:
The Nerima Wrecking Crew.

The principal setting of Ranma ½ is Nerima, a ward of the metropolis of Tokyo. There are 23 special wards, and Nerima is a real-life one that is found in the northwest of Tokyo—in fact, it was the 23rd and final ward! In English-language communications, the local government identifies the ward as Nerima City, so that's how we'll speak of it here.
Nerima is a large city that still retains a very suburban, even exurban character stretching back to its history of farming. There are even still farms within the city limits, including at least one dairy farm last we checked! It's part of Tokyo, but it has a kid of old-fashioned peaceful character...that makes it the perfect place for anime characters to disrupt. That kind of disruption led the English-speaking fandom to dub our favorite crew of violent martial artists the "Wrecking Crew", presumably after their propensity to bust down walls and buildings.
A lot of anime and manga take place in Nerima. Takahashi's previous hit series Urusei Yatsura, the cat-robot classic All-Purpose Cultural Cat-Girl Nuku-Nuku, the anime adaptation of Stop!! Hibari-Kun, even Tokyo Ghoul...okay, some of these are not quite the same genre as the others.

This is often attributed to the large number of anime studios based in the city, but Ranma's adventures in Nerima have a special bond with the environment that seems to go beyond, stretching back to the original manga. Ranma is often seen walking along (or falling from) fencetops above canals just like the above image from Wikimedia, and scenes set in nearby parks map fairly well to specific ones in Nerima City, so we can generally assume that the neighborhood where the Tendō Dojo is found is roughly in the Ōizumi area along the Shirako River seen above.
More specifically, it's in an imaginary neighborhood somewhere nebulously within those boundaries, a neighborhood that parts of the older fandom know as Furinkan-chō, AKA "Furinkan Town", after the Furinkan High School that Ranma and Akane attend—drawing a connection to the more official identification of the cast of Urusei Yatsura as living in Tomobiki-chō and attending Tomobiki High School.
A sober, dignified edifice to education...populated by a bunch of martial arts lunatics.
Some of whom are probably going to be pretty different in the new anime!
Meet the principal of Furinkan High School. Yes, this is a native Japanese man. Yes, he has problems.
Principal, Headmaster, or in Japanese Kunō-kōchō (no given name provided) is, unfortunately, the unfortunate father of the equally unfortunate series mainstay Tatewaki Kunō. The Principal here visited the USA for a while in order to learn from our education methods and came back an even worse problem than he'd left, becoming obsessed with the trappings of Hawai'ian tourism and the English language. In the original Japanese, his dialogue is heavily peppered with random English words and phrases (and an obnoxious Woody Woodpecker-style laugh).
The thing is, it's hard to translate a character randomly speaking English...into English. So, the official English translations of the original manga and anime had the Principal badly pepper his speech with Hawai'ian Pidgin phrases. It's going to be a little while before he shows up in the new anime, so it's hard to say for sure how he'll be translated...but it probably won't be that. So, new fans: you're probably going to encounter a few fanworks where there's a random fake-Hawai'ian man threatening teenagers with bad haircuts.
Teenagers like Hikaru Gosunkugi.

This is Gosunkugi. You'll probably see him next season, because we're going to perform acts of supervillainy if they don't make a second season. He shows up pretty early on in the manga, and has an important role to play in a major storyline...but he didn't show up in the original anime for 94 episodes after he was supposed to appear.
What we got instead was Sasuke Sarugakure. There's some debate about exactly why the anime-only character Sasuke was added: a diminutive ninja with thick eyebrows, prominent whiskers, buck teeth, and a miserable lot in life as the Kunō family servant. Seemingly...the only servant. Sasuke's role in the original anime seemed to have been not only to fill in for Gosunkugi in an early storyline, but to act as a comedic foil to the overblown antics of the Kunō family—especially absurd since the anime took the already comical wealth of the Kunōs from the manga, and exaggerated it to an absurd degree that seems all the more ridiculous when you learn that Sasuke sleeps in the crawlspace and gets by on fewer than three meals a day.
Oddly, this characterization as a comically impoverished ninja is a recurring bit in Takahashi's stories: Urusei Yatsura featured the job-hunting missing-nin Kaede, and the last few volumes of the Ranma ½ manga introduced the threadbare kunoichi Konatsu.

Get used to this image. It's probably all you're going to see of Konatsu for a good few seasons...because the original anime never got to that part of the manga.
Konatsu is a thorny topic in the fandom due to matters of gender that aren't helped by the original anime never getting to those stories, and the original manga chapters taking forever to be available in English. What can definitely be said is that Konatsu A: identifies as a kunoichi, specifically a title for female ninja, and B: is AMAB.
But this is a series that's all about playing with gender.
For example...
The Girl. An anime-only episode of Nettōhen presented a story of Ranma taking a blow to the head, waking up not long after and insisting on actually being a girl—identifying her life as a boy as being something akin to a bad dream. This version of Ranma knows she was assigned male and turns back into a male body when splashed with hot water, but she demonstrates a visceral dysphoria about it that is painfully relatable. The episode's plot is concluded and the status quo is restored when the pacifistic girl is struck once more in the head at the end, restoring the Ranma who is a confident martial artist and self-identified man among men...but an increasing number of highly-rated fanworks reference this single-episode anime-only story.
This isn't the only time an anime-only episode touches on the idea of Ranma who is solely identified as a girl:
Ranma and the Evil Within starts off with Ranma joking about staying a girl forever, only for it to be taken seriously by the recurring problematic antagonist Happōsai (seriously, he's just the worst, and for some reason the original anime production team decided to make lots of anime-only episodes featuring him). A magic incense is brought into play, splitting off all the femnine 'yin' from Ranma's masculine 'yang'.
This split-off half is characterized as unbalanced, magically powerful, and a threat to Ranma's life. So of course, she looks sick as fuck. But just like The Girl, she's a one-off character. Don't worry: if the anime runs long enough to cover all the manga storylines, we'll still get a story about a female-only duplicate of Ranma. But it's going to be a little while.
Speaking of girls in Ranma ½, let's touch on Akane's female friends!

Mostly going unnamed in the manga, Akane has several female classmates and friends who received more prominent roles in the old anime.

The two most notable of these are Yuka (lighter brown hair), and Sayuri (darker brown, often in a ponytail). These names do get called out in the old version of the anime, though they don't seem to have much personality beyond "girls who are friends with each other and Akane".
This role is sometimes filled by others in the old anime. It's much harder to find episodes where any other girls in the class are named, but due to two of them recurring, fanworks often bring them up as Akane's other friends:
Meet Asami (wavy shoulder-length hair) and Hiroko (short hair and freckles)...or is that Makoto and Shikako? Sources vary on these names, and English language websites disagree on which are the 'official' names. If anyone can track down an episode where either one is named on-screen, we'd appreciate it!
Akane isn't the only one with school friends: Ranma's got a few recurring acquaintances among the male students, as well.
In the old anime, these two are specifically named as Hiroshi (lighter colored hair and wider eyes) and Daisuke (dark hair and narrow eyes). They're often treated by both the source material and fanworks as Ranma's sole "normal" guy friends, and in general behave like stereotypical high school boys...including openly lusting after Ranma's girl form, even after they learn that she and the male Ranma are one and the same.

Hiroshi and Daisuke show up more consistently as a pair than Akane's friends in both the manga and the original anime, and fanworks often pair them romantically with Yuka and Sayuri. But even with how common Hiroshi, Daisuke, Yuka, and Sayuri are (down to their incredibly average names), they deserve mentioning for new fans...

...Because the new anime renamed them all! "Hiroshi" is now "Shingo" (しんご), "Daisuke" is now "Kiichi" (きいち), "Yuka" is now "Noriko" (のりこ), and "Sayuri" is now "Tomoyo" (ともよ).
That's it for now, because there's a brand new episode out that we haven't had a chance to watch while we wrap up this post on our lunch break. Until next time, this is the Nerima Wrecker Crew, signing off!
