They turn into depressed wet cats without their boyfriend and I have never found characters so relatable because I, too, cry lots when Koby isn't on screen

As unlikely as the theory of Hibari being Akainu’s daughter may be, I still can’t help but want it to be true. I think it’d be absolutely hilarious if the scary Fleet Admirals very own daughter had a big fat crush on the guy he tried to kill back in the Marineford war.

Okie… So I did the “What type of Love is your” OC quiz, ehe.
But!
This applies mainly to ‘main story’ Naoya.
(And in fact, a commission I have that will be finished by tomorrow, THAT is actually how his actual way of love is symbolized.)
Anyway…
Naoya is…
Cold Stark Gold
Fireworks, borrowed lighters and sparklers against a dark backdrop, yours is a love that burns stark and bright. It's scary though, like things that burn always tend to be, but for you it isn't the thrill of the open flames that gives pause and a slight stomach drop of terror, but rather the time when the flames go out, the sparkler ends and the night is cold and dark once again. Fireworks, borrowed lighters, a striken match, your love burns bright and fast and then maybe it passes, maybe the feeling dies out and you're left in the cold once again. And that's the feeling isn't it? Of being bored and waiting for someone to light you up again? To be fair, you do know you don't need it, but then again we don't often crave the things we need. And you crave and yearn and burn in the wait, restless in the knowledge that at some point someone will pass and rub you the right way, that some day you'll light up the night sky bright yet again. There's comfort in the darkness and solace in the predictable loneliness of the in between, but your heart still squirms inside you, waiting and willing and begging to burn up again. Your love might not be comfort, it's not one for the sick days, but then again, there's a reason why everyone waits for the shining lights in the sky during holidays.
Thank you Momo btw for tagging me✨❣️❣️❣️🌼🌼🌼🌼🥺 @dreamieparadise
NOW!
My personal and short inference…
Reflections of the great - - - - - - -,
So endless…
It can be maddening.
But if seen through right…
It burns…
Yet at peace…
It’s like love is in - - - - - - - .
Or maybe that’s how you view?
Feelings so endless you can even see it from below.
Heaven or Hell?
The great - - - - - - - .

[ID: A panel from the manga Katekyo Hitman Reborn, showing Hibari Kyoya. He says "Deciding the rule with pride? You're a strange one. I've never once thought of pride, but..." /End ID]
when i'm telling you this guy never knows what's going on. WHEN I'M TELLING YOU HE'S NEVER IN THE LOOP LMAO.
he literally showed up four days after shit started to hit the fan, and it's even funnier because he was there when they decided they'd go confront the shimon on their island, he heard it clearly (then again, did he?? what with him standing OUTSIDE with the window CLOSED zkdnsks i can't with him 😭). and obviously he wasn't going to go together with them, but apparently he went back to namimori, to kusakabe, and either chilled for four days or they needed four days to get the helicopter ready? and why does that make perfect sense for him and is perfectly in character for him i'm--?? 😭😭
and the doylist reason he's somehow still always there and shows up at the right moment to do his part as one of the main characters of the manga is of course that amano makes sure he is and he does, but the funniest watsonian reason is that he just has a sixth sense that lets him know When To Get Himself Involved without him needing to deal with all the tedious plot bullshit lmao.
so like, call hibari anything you want, sure, but don't you ever call him not funny because he's just fucking hilarious and he's not even trying to be 😭😂😂

If the Hibari = Akainu’s daughter theory is true then it would be an interesting way to give Akainu some depth as an antagonist. Even someone like him is fighting to protect his wife and child. Which would also make him extra hypocritical for trying to kill Coby for stopping the war… “Every soldier has a family waiting for them back home!”
Or maybe his wife was already killed by pirates (his parents being killed by pirates already seems pretty certain judging from his childhood picture). With both parents and wife killed, Akainu went off a deep end and devoted his life to exterminating pirates. Maybe that’s why he said “You pirates don’t deserve a home”. He’s jealous that WB got to keep his family while he couldn’t.
With that extreme mindset I assume he’s not a good dad either. Wouldn’t say abusive without proof, but he’s at least extra harsh and definitely forces the Absolute Justice ideology on Hibari. Which would make another parallel to WB who lets his sons think freely: “If you’re pirates, choose what you want to believe!”

what if: someone (teen, well adjusted, probably) reincarnates as hibari kyōya?
think of a reincarnated male (probably) from modern world, no magic or anything other than technology, probably no major religious beliefs in life-after-death or anything of the sort.
and then imagine that same teen suddenly waking up as a baby, where wanting to walk off by himself is perfectly fine and okay. where sometimes some new relative of his has the ability to make him drowsy, or can heal his scrapes with some strange glow, or the fact that his great uncle is somehow some a literate baby looking thing, but is also somehow older than his grandma.
and the kidnappings, probably, because hey, it’s eye of the storm fon’s baby relative that he’s obviously fond of, right? they could totally get something out of him!
(wrong and nobody ever tried again. probably partly because of what fon did in response, and partly because how was this actual toddler active.
if this happened in canon, i imagine kyōya’s mind would be still fuzzy enough to not have that awareness of the danger he’s in and the will to spark dying will flames. but this one??? with self preservation and the knowledge of dying once sends him straight to activation.)
maybe tsuna or takeshi or maybe even shōichi??? reminding oc!kyōya of somebody he used to know.
ummm when i wrote this i think i had a scene where fon found out (my reasoning was that he saw that kyōya looked like him, old in a too young body) and asked about it and i think it was meant to give oc a little more closure (though i also wrote that he had resolved himself to live as kyōya when he was four??? dunno how accurate that is.)
i,,, actually have a lot more snippets and semi-incorrect-quotes and headcanons than i thought. i guess i’ll include them here, they’re not as bad as i thought they were.
———
kyōya has fon wrapped around his fingers, not that he knows it
Kyōya is all instinct, would go in guns (tonfa) blazing. However, oc is more cautious, and can plan how to talk and scheme his way out of a situation. He also like controlled violence, and so Mukuro’s battle goes a bit differently
kyōya has all but adopted all the street cats. and birds. all of them. including a falcon he is particularly fond of. nobody knows how in the world he tamed that, but he did.
kyōya has connections
kyōya also has minor mist flames
kyōya probably uses his old identity as a disguise, if he had to, simply because who he used to be does not exist.
———
(later part of the conversation because the beginning makes me cringe)
Fon nods, briefly and sadly, but with a weight lifted off of his shoulders. Probably slightly happy that his nephew was never replaced, he’s just always been a bit off and knowing. He probably also thinks it makes Kyōya feel better by talking about it. He’s kind like that.
“Remember to call if you need anything, Kyōya,” he reminds, face back into that calm state. “I will always have time for you.”
He jumps off, but Kyōya is— that reassurance means more to him than he would ever know. Because he knows he’s busy, with the Triads sending him on diplomatic missions because he’s unaffiliated with any particular branch, and that he’s completely fine with the workload, but sometimes just drops on his bed in Kyōya’s room that he had added a year ago. He knows, and to offer at least words and an open ear for his problems of annoying loud children and the fact that the adults just won’t learn, means the world to Kyōya.
(But if his great-uncle ever wants to break free and they won’t let him… He just has to say the word.
Kyōya doesn’t just keep the peace in Namimori, after all, and Irie promised him any favor, as long as he didn’t have to get physically envolved.
Kyōya is a Cloud, and his Physical Territory is Namimori. However, who said a Cloud only had one? Who decided that all Clouds only kept one thing, weren’t greedy for another and weren’t possessive enough to pull it off?)
———
“Uncle.”
“Yes, Kyōya—?”
“A not-baby with a yellow pacifier is in Namimori. He is shooting a first year middle schooler named Sawada Tsunayoshi with bullets that cause him to shout something about his “Dying Will” in his boxers.”
Fon paused. “…I see. So, Reborn is in Namimori. Ah— I heard a rumor that he was going to Japan to train the next Vongola Decimo. Perhaps that’s why?” he suggested. “That Herbivore? Please, the way he’s doing it is just going to make him terrified and reject it even more. He might even become more like his mother as a defense mechanism.”
———
"Hibari, is that a falcon." Despite the format, Kyōya knows it wasn't really a question. "Yes. You have eyes, don't you?" he dismisses. Honestly, his falcon isn't that much of a shock, is it? He knows for a fact he flies around Namimori regularly, and there are no hunters in his town that would dare shoot down any of the birds.
———
reborn: is looking looking for kyōya
kyōya: in the park
reborn: ah, there he—
reborn:
kyōya:
reborn:
kyōya, sighing: what do you want, hitman?
reborn: why are you covered in cats
kyōya: it's winter
reborn, exasperated: nevermind! i'll come back later

Do you know which tweet of Eguchi's has him confirm Hibari is trans? I haven't been paying much attention to his feed since it's mostly atm about his art exhibitions.
It was actually in an interview Eguchi did in France, due to the French translation of Hibari having been recently released and put up for an award.
“J'ai choisi un personnage transgenre car cela participait au ressort comique, la question transgenre au Japon à l'époque (dans les années 1980) appartenait à un milieu très fermé[…]”
Eguchi doesn’t speak much French to my knowledge, but the interview was done with the manga’s French translator serving as Eguchi’s interpreter, the pair having spent a couple of years in correspondence to make sure the translation was up to Eguchi’s standards (and they did indeed win the award for the manga’s translation), so I think it’s fairly safe to take ‘transgenre/transgender’ as a correct interpretation of Eguchi’s modern position on Hibari.

OK, so. Hibari Kyouya is and always will be my biggest crush. BUT. There is a difference in feelings for a young Hibari Kyouya and 20-something year old Hibari Kyouya.

Gonna post my hcs for hibari's backstory here in case Twitter explodes lol and so I can easily find them again:
🐤Hibari is the son of rich people, tbh I haven't thought much about why they're rich or what they even do LOL but basically they're super rich
🐤They are not at all fit to be parents, and didn't even want kids, they only did it for the sake of their image in society
🐤Thus hibari is an only child
🐤Since they didn't want kids anyway, they don't pay attention to their son at all, instead leaving him in the care of nannies, valets, etc.
🐤As a young kid hibari would try to talk to his parents, but as they ignored him every time he grew very quiet and talked very rarely
🐤He's an angry kid, and he eventually becomes so violent that it's difficult for his nannies to handle him
🐤Hibari's """uncle""" (aka Fon, who is actually hibari's father's cousin) enrolls him in an Okinawan martial arts class to channel his violence towards something more positive
🐤Hibari immediately loves the tonfa and uses them for the rest of his life
🐤The only time hibari spends time with his parents is when he's dragged to their social gatherings. He hates these with a passion but has to behave himself or he gets in trouble. He grows to vehemently despise the people who come to these parties, considering them weak herbivores who require posturing and safety in numbers in order to survive. The social gatherings are also where he gains his hatred of crowds
🐤As a young kid hibari has very little to occupy his time with, so he watches TV a lot. The only channel his nannies approve of is the nature channel, which he loves. He loves the order in the food chain and the simplicity of predator versus prey. He thus develops his carnivore v. herbivores fixation
🐤When hibari enters middle school, he volunteers for the disciplinary committee because he believes it will allow him to beat people up for breaking the rules. He ends up finding peace in the fact that finally he has control over something - namimori is his, everyone follows his rules. The comfort this grants him is why he's there literally all the time instead of going home
🐤It's not like his parents notice he's gone anyway
🐤He goes to the hospital when he's sick because it's another place where everyone listens to what he says without fail (I can't remember if the manga says he himself donates to the hospital or his family, but regardless he has power there lol). He can rest up in peace.
🐤The only relative he likes is his weird """uncle""" who shows up every once in a while. He doesn't understand why he's a baby, but his child mind just accepts that there are some really strong babies out there. This is why he is not surprised by reborn in the slightest, and also immediately respects him
🐤Animals love him and he loves them. He is absolutely that kid who would find frogs in the park and take them home, help worms back into the grass, accidentally adopt like 100 stray cats, etc.
