I finished Episode 1. All in all, a fine follow up to HF 2.

As expected, it was a short game, in keeping with the episodic approach to the game.

When the tip of Optimus' finger comes down and presses against his chest, Cade feels his breath catch in his throat. There's a strange sensation moving through his chest at the connection, and yet, there's also something familiar in it. He can only attribute it to what he felt whenever Tess's mom had her hand on his chest when they would dance in the kitchen when their daughter had finally been put to sleep, but he's quick to snap himself back to reality and focus on the Autobot's words.

There's a burst of air puffing through his lips. "Yeah, no pressure or anything, right?"

Cade ducks his head and takes a deep breath, as if that's what's going to help him shoulder the responsibility he's been given. Even though he knows he doesn't deserve this honor, he's also well aware he's going to do everything in his power to earn it.

"So, uh..." he starts then stops, shaking his head and laughing. "I feel like there are so many questions to ask, and I can't think of a single one."

"I believe it is your desire to protect, Cade," Optimus says. The respect he feels for him is immense-- the things Cade has done for his family and for the Autobots are above and beyond what most humans would do. A smile touches his lip plates before he can stop it from forming.

"To be a Knight is to be a protector. The desperation to save my life may have driven you to higher emotions, but your base desire-- what allows you to change Excalibur's form-- is the same."

One servo comes down, and the tip of Optimus' pointer digit touches Cade's chest. The budding energy of his growing Spark crackles in his chest, almost tickling Optimus with its presence, but he keeps his touch as light as possible.

"You have been recognised, Cade. Excalibur belongs to no-one but you until your passing. And because it is yours, and it comes from the AllSpark of Cybertron, I believe it can be whatever you want it to be."

your builds are absolutely phenomenal! i gotta ask, would it be ok to @ or send you posts that i would love to see your take on? honestly i just have one post in mind but thought i should ask first (also of course keeping in mind you dont have to do anything) thanks :]

(regardless of that, one more thing- your posts have genuinely inspired me as to what is possible in house flipper, as someone with 3-400h in 1 and 2)

this ask has been resting in my inbox for 2.5 months but it gives me a good opportunity to say that...

yes! i adore getting suggestions, everyone can always tag me or send me a message and i'll be sure to take a peek.

i always consider every suggestion and judge how reasonably i could recreate it in HF2. interestingly, its often super mundane/unassuming stuff that can disqualify an interior while more unconventional elements are totally doable. for example it's almost impossible to add a bay window, a reclining chair with the footrest extended, or a lace curtain (or even make something that only vaguely looks like it at first glance)... BUT i can absolutely mount seventeen mountain bikes to the ceiling. rectangular bathroom tiles are a pipe dream but the floor can be grass and wildflowers

the furniture catalog in the game is still small and i've put enough hours into the game to be familiar with most of it so i can usually tell pretty quickly, but i've also had to abandon a build half way through just because none of the ceiling lights illuminated the room correctly. i've found that pictures taken at night with flash on are the easiest, since there's no ambient lighting to affect the scene and i can just place a bunch of lights behind the player character.

that being said, dont worry about any of this and send me whatever you find! the game gets regular updates and its a lot of fun to work around the limitations.

so i realized tht all the dlcs are for house flipper and not house flipper 2.. went ahead nd finally bought hf2 !!!!! i can't wait to play it more, i wish it wasnt 5am

anyway the stupidest way to play fha is to try and go through every scene before progressing through the main plot

one of the reason why is that there's a bunch of scenes unlocked when you have played 18 scenes unlocked by hf2, not counting exploration at night (scenes inside the house count, but not going out on patrol with saber. nor the scene unlocked by getting killed by archer at the bridge - yes you can get killed by archer at the bridge without unlocking the next session)

so if you try and do that you'll get surprised with a random scene will suddenly unlock you new scenes even though you haven't played any scene critical to the story

another reason is that not every "!" unlock anything critical to the story (there's a storyline that ends with fighting shinji at the harbor by playing hanafuda. it has no relevance to anything but the scenes leading to it are marked "!") (same with the scene with makidera and rin's pendant at school on day 2. as far as can see it's not critical to anything. you can play it last (though it takes some finagling because it's the only scene at that point in time on the first loop, when you can't skip yet. to skip it you need to get killed by archer at the bridge on the first night by repeatedly saving and starting a new loop after the first day))

some scenes marked "!" do unlock critical point of the story, but not necessarily to the next session. by exemple you don't need to talk about the holy grail to the servants to unlock hf2, but you can talk to saber, lancer and caster from the beginning. but it unlocks hf3. another example is that every scene needed to make rin comes back is accessible before hf4, but rin won't come back before hf4.

so unless you have every knowledge of what unlock what you will postpone playing scenes there's no reason to postpone and when you only have "!" scenes left you might play scenes you don't need yet

the other reasons is that if you do that you're going to end up with a lot of skipping there's no reason to do. hf3 only unlock the necessary scences to defeat archer + illya's castle. hf4 unlocks only going out alone at night to shinto. you've progressed through the story but have not actually unlocked anything new !

in short play however you want. there are like 5 scenes you might miss (plus. losing the minigames & the quiz, and not going to the camp/not following caren, which. you can always find them in the scene history).

(for info, the scenes that disappear without you playing them (there are a few that disappear when you play them or that are obligatory to progress in the story) :

awakening (not yet) : storage room at night (replaced by 'awakening (fake)' before defeating archer)

no trespassing : day 4am, outskirts, illya (replaced by going to castle einzbern after hf3)

crosswords and shogi problems: day 4 pm, school > student council, issei (replaced by 'Training camp, approval', when unlocking the training camp)

rider and the sandwich : school day 1 pm, rooftop, rider (replaced by 'sisters' lunch' after rin comes back)

the miyama ghost house, day 1am and day 3am (disappears when you go to the twin house)

shin-chan and the sea : day 4am, harbor, shinji (replaced by 'Big trouble! [...]' when you unlock hanfuda)

Execution appreciated : night alone at church (after getting killed by bazett with saber but before defeating bazett)

spider ladder: last night go out for a walk, (after talking to illya but before caren 5)

ok that's 9 scenes. my point stands)

Anyway if i wasn't morally and ethically opposed to google i would put those spreadsheet online for others to use.

Plus do not try to read everything available before progressing through the story. it's inefficient and ends up feeling like a chore. just read it in whatever order you want.

Or ask me from the reading order i decided on. i've got spreadsheets.

ETA : oh wait i forgot "Horn (no echo)" : afternoon, harbor, lancer, asking him for help without having found the earring. 10 scenes.
