Via @doctor.montserrat >>> 👩🏽‍🎓 March 18, 2013 was my graduation from @univwesternstates I graduated with a doctorate in chiropractic medicine 🩻 and a masters in sports and exercise science 🏃🏽‍♀️. I was surrounded by friends and loved ones as they helped celebrate the accomplishment that only comes with years of sacrifice. They cheered and brought the good vibes to close one chapter and open another. 🥳 🤩I’m still so happy for my career choice. I get to support my community and help them find the answers to what wellness means to them. I walk side by side with folx through some very hard times and triumphant journeys. And now with @heydocclinic I get to work with some of Portland’s finest healthcare providers and help provide a platform for them to launch from. 🎉My asks on this anniversary is that if you see someone dreaming, encourage them. My path was cleared by people that shared words of encouragement, that talked to me about my plans and dreams, that offered hugs and shared tears on the hard days. SOLD OUT SHOW!!! Such a dope way to enter the holiday season 🙌🏽 grateful to partner with @browncharlie3 and @domobranch for todays #BrownBranch Duke Ellington Nutcracker Suite at @portlandcenterstage. The lineup featured an all-star lineup of 16 of the most talented musicians in the city featuring @hailey_niswanger @nicolemccabe_ @devinshorn @maxwellamillion @miekebrugge @tbonemolitor @goldie__music @16popsicles @undocumented_unafraid @simpsonaire @justincopelandmusic @stevenmontecucco @cameron_formanczyk_trumpet @finnjones2 and of course @domobranch and @browncharlie3 with the killer green bandleader suit coats too 👀 . After plotting and planning for several months and reimagining the show we did last December into another all new show, we were able to sell out all 580 seats of the US Bank Main Stage at PCS. MOCHI DONUTS by @luvjonezmusic featuring @samareimusic from the album #SQUAD out now on all streaming services . In the midst of quarantine, and the constant desire to go anywhere, we discovered one of the few dessert places that was both gluten free AND dairy free, so that both @doctor.montserrat and I could eat stuff, was @mikikomochidonuts 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 we would walk about 6 blocks on some Sunday mornings and get mochi donuts and coffee as a form of escape. Some of my favorite flavors were Thai iced tea and passionfruit and they rarely survived long enough to make it to breakfast the next day because they were so delicious. Shout out @mikikomochidonuts for saving the day with their pop-up shop at Bar West during quarantine days 🙌🏽 this video is not footage their mochi donuts but a “making of” video that equally makes me hungry. PLAY IT COOL by @luvjonezmusic featuring @doctor.montserrat from the album #SQUAD out now on all streaming services . This is the second of two collaborations with Montserrat of @heydocclinic @heydocpodcast @doctor.montserrat and I decided we would make music together instead of celebrating holidays and when she found the drum samples by @thepocketqueen, I used that as a base and then worked on the other elements of the song to teach her how to use midi software. The video was a fun way to dedicate Montse’s endless energy and inspiration to dance all the time. Made me think of Fresh Prince and his inability to stay calm when music was playing on the show. When we were all first forced to shelter in place, I asked a bunch of friends who don’t make music to send me voice memos of thoughts or sayings or ideas that I could try an work into a song. My friend and anti-social media enthusiast Chip sent me a few voice memos that were perfect for an intro and outro for this song. As a nod to moving past preconceived notions of what we need to be or should be and instead being whoever we want, the whole song is aimed to capture that mood. WE RIDE by @luvjonezmusic featuring @almeltzerfaceoff from the album #SQUAD out now on all streaming services . In the early days of the 2020 quarantine, the homie @antwaaan assembled a @discord for PDX beatmakers and we shared ideas, samples, sounds and unused musical elements. Some of those were samples by the sound wizard @almeltzerfaceoff and I was so hyped from unused keyboards that I flipped into a chill track with busy drums featured here. The track always makes me feel like driving around solo to zone out so this scene from The Master felt like a good illustration of that feeling, as he speeds off into the desert.
