Hi, so kind of a weird ask maybe. But I just found an answered ask of you in the low german tag where you talked about some alt history thingy wrt low german. Would you mind elaborating on that? I'm curious since just recently I also had an idea/daydream of alternative history with low german still as an important language. Do you have it written down somewhere? Or is it just some thing you made up in your head?

The project is called Andalusada, and I'm ALWAYS willing to gush about it. It's got a tumblr I don't know what to do with, a dead blog where I hashed out the broad strokes, and a setting bible/player's guide/GURPS rules conversion that's a perpetual work in progress.

As for Low German: it becomes plot-relevant when Martin Luther Johann Georg Günther is born to a Hanseatic family in Rostock and grows up speaking it. His Bible translation starts in 1519, and the history of Low German gets Exciting™ and Fun™ from there. Some of the details that can't be guessed or extrapolated:

Günther survives the inevitable imperial ban by fleeing the Holy Roman Empire in the nearest available cargo hold, which is why the *Reformation eventually finds its seat in Königsberg.

Günther's patron gets involved in a 1520 anti-Teutonic rebellion, and drags him along as an army chaplain. The Holy Prussian Confederation (hillig is basically synonymous with evangelische) overthrows the Teutonic Knights in 1524, and codifies Güntherite aesthetics - the white cross on black, Sansinger swords, celebrating All Saints’ Day with alcohol poisoning, etc. - in the process.

Güntherites start settling in the Moorish New World after the first partition of Holy Prussia, and bring Low German with them. The Moorish empire collapses before they've had time to assimilate or intermarry; "Germans" provide early and distinctive support to the Christian side of the ensuing wars.

They also formed one side of independent Mexico's first civil war, which is why the land north of the Rio Grande is called "Free and Holy Axamalla" (cf. Arabic Thaghr ash-Shamal, "the Northern March"; almost certainly spelled "Aschamalle” in Platt) and Low German is its co-official language.

Like Mexico, Axamalla neither practices nor recognizes slavery. Since its much larger neighbor up north DOES, the shortest path to freedom is due south, which is why Axamalla is home to the largest Afro-German community in the world.

Hi! I just saw your trypod podcast recommendations. Looks like you're really into history podcasts. Me too, but since I'm very new to podcasts I barely know any. I'm gonna check out your recs soon, I think. May I hit you up if I ever need any other recs? Hey! I answered the publicly by the way because I think you have an excellent point/question:

The history podcast scene is SUPER male! I’d go so far as to say that a lot of the Humanities podcast scene is also fairly male. So I sort of made it a goal of mine to find female hosted podcasts - and I’ve even found a few more since that trypod post.

So here they are:

Art History Babes: art history, awesome ladies in grad school. PHENOMENAL podcast even if you don’t have a background in art or art history. PHENOMENAL.

Stuff You Missed in History Class: two awesome ladies. The subjects are SO SO diverse and I love them.

History Chicks: two ladies, love love love love them. This was probably the first podcast I listened to on a regular basis.

Gastropod: It’s a food blog, but it has a LOT of history because they, well, look at food and we’ve always eaten food. A good amount of science as well and it’s FASCINATING. Two awesome ladies host it.

FoodStuff: another food blog, but like Gastropod they have a lot of history. Two awesome lady hosts.

Unravel: A fashion history podcast, also has a lot of current things? Two-three awesome ladies host this.

Footnoting History SOMETIMES has female hosts. This is probably the shortest podcast I listen to in that episodes can be anywhere from ten minutes to thirty. I generally try to go for LONG podcasts because I’m a glutton.

History of the Crusades: okay, I have to be honest. The host - a woman - seems to really know her shit but her voice puts me to sleep. She’s lovely and intelligent and if are deeply interested in the crusades (literally any of them) you MUST give her a listen but... it’s too much for me. 

The History of Byzantium: a new discovery, another great female host. On the shorter side. Very good.

Does anyone else have some history podcasts they want to rec that are hosted by ladies?

And I hate intentionally keeping good mons weak cause "you might need them eventually in one of the lower classes" and keeping God knows what trash in my already bursting full bags - I have to keep so much for lucky pokedex completion already

Also apart from that I dont find the system really rewarding in any way

haha i remember making that mistake too, now i only put metagross in gold gyms, or gyms that are far away from gold, don't own a maxed milotic

now that metagross is somewhat more useful than before and my 98% milotic is almost maxed out i like dropping them into gyms here and there... it’s just whenever i wanna update my gym list i get angry about it kdjflsdfjdk

I only put my old 98% psychic Metagross in gyms ��‍♀️and don't talk to me about my pink babies ����������

that one i have too and i used to love putting her in gyms too! my sweet mirane ♥ but now it’s more maya i put in gyms first that’s one of the shinies we caught on c day! she was almost maxed out from the get go and has decent stats and well #shiny (and meteor mash)

the poor blisseys didn’t deserve this :( i put so much work and candies into them too. i was so proud to have a small blissey army of my own and well they’re still strong but it’s a tough blow

Just wanna tell you that I love your fashion edits especially the fact that you usually stick to 9 or 12 pics - I'm not really a fan of edits that put more pics into one post. That way it's hard to "capture" the collection imho.
