The Smallest Sugar Daddy in Town
we always see law as the sugar daddy its time to turn tables and change things, luffy as the sugar daddy BUT not dilf luffy but just regular luffy right
the catch its: he doesnt know he has that sugar daddy behavior. everyone else knows ofc but he doesnt. hes the son of a very rich senator and a even richer diplomat, real old money, and he has this...thing, going on with one of his friends, law
law, it's your really broke med student who is kind of a genius, but he's an orphan with little to no family who has to work really hard to be able to pay his tuition since he had a drug problem some months ago and couldn't get a good scholarship
they met at a bar where law works and law was nice to luffy who couldnt choose a drink back then, law helped him pick something fruity and sweet but with little alcohol so hes friends would pick on him for drinking straight up juice at a fucking bar and then Luffy kept coming back and soon they became friends, much to law's irritation bc the boy its just clingy and annoying and also has that really pretty smile that he uses everytime he wants law to go out with him and he knows law cant say no to that smile
next thing everyone knew was that law has a better job at a really good company where he did very little work and got a really good paycheck and that was..strange, bc law had no qualification to work at such company nor conections to just get the job so easyly or so they think, but they soon discover that the company is owned by... Luffyt. actually no, it's one of his father's investments, but the shares are all in Luffy's name for some reason so he just demanded they hired law and that what they did
and then law gets an apartment in which the rent it's just ridiculous cheap for a place that good, its big, clean, close from both work and school and also belongs to...luffy. and then comes the car, a gift this time, and then luffy is also the one paying law tuition
and law gets red like a tomato everytime his friend point out those things, when they call luffy his sugar daddy and make fun of him bc well, luffys younger than him. but he doesnt deny none of this bc well luffy is some sort of sugar daddy
of course law had tried to say no to all those gifts and everyting else (not for the job tho, he would never say no to such a good job) he like REALLY tried but theres monkey d luffy that cant take a no, its a lost battle so law just...aceppts it with red ears and cheeks and a heart beating so fast he thinks hes going to die bc hes been in love with luffy for a long time now, even before it all, the sugar daddy thing, had started.
they pretty much had kissed some times and touched each other but nothing more than that and law its starting to get anxious bc god knows he has the hots for luffy and hes about to die is he doesnt get dicked down reall good real soon so the day Luffy shows up at the company to visit Law, all happy and loud as ever, Law is quick to push that boy into the chair and sink to his knees, ready to spend rest of the day with a dick down his throat or else his name its not trafalgar d water law
#look that got me an INSANE amout of sugar daddy bot on twitter#i hate then i hate then so much my friend made fun of meeeeeeeeeeeeee#i wish to perish thank you sir#suggar daddy au#yay#anyways#i really think luffy would be the most unaware sugar daddy that ever lived#hes rich and stubborn and annoying#he will make you feel BAD for not aceppting his gifts#what else can you do but be his sugar baby even if he doesnt know youre his sugar baby?? nothing that what you can do#lawlu#lulaw#one piece#i hate it here#law its just going along with the ride poor boy

Spoilers: Eggers' Nosferatu
There's a lot of debate right now on if Count Orlok represents Ellen's shame/trauma/abuse, or if he represents her repressed erotic desires, and in turn there's debate on whether or not viewers who find the Ellen/Orlok dynamic alluring are "missing the point." Eggers and Lily-Rose Depp have both said in interviews that there's a mutual pull between Ellen and Orlok, and even that there's a love triangle element, but obviously the experience is terrifying for Ellen. How can we reconcile the sexual tension and the horror?
I think the broader theme is that Orlok represents everything in a woman's inner world that men refuse to acknowledge and accept - fear and shame and trauma, yes, but also our appetites . After the prologue, the story starts with Ellen begging Thomas to stay in bed with her; she says "the honeymoon was yet too short" and tries to pull him in and kiss him (obviously trying to start some nuptial bliss). But Thomas is anxious to meet with his boss and get his promotion, because he has a narrative he's going to fulfill: he's going to pay Friedrich back, buy a house, and then start having kids (he and Friedrich touch on this a bit later. Notably, Friedrich discloses Anna's pregnancy to Thomas before Anna has made it public.)
It's the start of Ellen and Thomas' married life and she just wants him to prioritize her sexual desire, but he chooses to focus on his ideal of success, which sets him on this path to confronting Orlok. We know Ellen doesn't care about having a house or fine things and she begs him not to go, but Thomas listens to Herr Knock and Friedrich, who tell him that as a husband he has to provide materially. He ignores Ellen's stated desires, and so fails to provide sexually and emotionally. When Thomas gaslights her about her nightmares and calls them childish fancies, he shuts down her vulnerability, which kills the intimacy she was enjoying in the literal honeymoon phase.
On a related note, there's a defence in here for Aaron Taylor Johnson's performance, which I've seen a few male critics call "over acting." In this story Friedrich represents the masculine ideal of the time, he's a rich business owner with a beautiful wife and kids. Thomas clearly looks up to him and wants to emulate him - he wants to give Ellen the life "she deserves." But Friedrich's elevated masculine status is why he refuses to listen to Ellen's "hysterical, sentimental" worries, he's too rational for all that of course. And his stubborn "rationality" leads to the death of his entire family. Friedrich IS the patriarchal ideal that crumbles when confronted with nuance and uncertainty. Some people see Friedrich and assume that a character like him is meant to come across as dignified, and that Aaron Taylor Johnson is messing up by making him look annoying, but really he is giving a great portrayal of a really common, annoying kind of guy. The kind of guy who melts down and has childish tantrums whenever they lose control of a situation, or their manly skills and values are shown to be irrelevant.
The men in the movie (excluding Professor von Franz) frame Ellen as childish for speaking about her dreams candidly, but their own childishness is revealed when her dreams manifest in the form of Orlok and become unavoidable. Ellen (partially? possessed in the moment by Orlok) tells Thomas how "foolish and like a child" he was in Orlok's castle. In the literal context that's cruel, and obviously that shit was scary as hell, but it hits on Thomas' failure in the metaphorical reading. He was a child playing house: 'I'll be the husband and make money, you be the wife and make babies.' When it came time to confront his wife's inner world and all the scary, traumatized, lustful complexity of it, he was completely inept. The message isn't that Orlok is what Ellen really needs, or that Thomas is a wimp, but he's not a perfect husband either. I think "the point" is that a real healthy marriage with sexual, emotional, and spiritual mutuality is impossible in that society with Thomas/Friedrich's ideals. In that kind of society, a spiritually and sexually potent woman like Ellen ("in heathen times you might have been a Priestess of Isis") will always be caught in a "love triangle" with her husband and her own inner world.

OPERATION CINDERELLA-SABOTAGE [HEARTSLABYUL]
in which he rescues you from your very short-lived wedding.
SUMMARY: due to a massive misunderstanding, a prince from royal sword academy is set to wed you at sunset. thankfully, your un-princely crush is here to save the day and crash this lovely wedding.
PAIRINGS: everyone x fem reader (separately)
WARNINGS: they're being a bit dramatic, characters are 18+, makeout (cater)
NOTES: this is echoes the ghost bride event, but listening to this prompted me to write out this scenario instead. i made this for shits and giggles, so have fun with this!
HEARTSLABYUL | SAVANACLAW | OCTANIVELLE | SCARABIA | POMEFIORE | IGNIHYDE | DIASOMNIA
There was no way you would be able to say 'no' now, not when there were hundreds of Royal Sword Academy students and even more members of a random royal family whose last names you cannot recall waiting outside that door. Aside from a completely oblivious Neige and Che'nya who was nowhere to be found, there was no one you could really ask for help to get you out of this mess.
You turn to your supposed betrothed with frantic eyes, shaking your head wildly. "I already told you, I'm not the one you danced with at the ball!" Your hisses fell on deaf ears. That damned prince from Royal Sword Academy was too busy making the 'goo-goo' eyes at you to even register what you were saying.
"I just happened to have the same shoe-size!"
Damn it, why did you have to agree to fitting some missing girl's shoe?!
Pierce Charmant, possibly the most delusional guy you have ever met in Twisted Wonderland, clung onto your calf with a stubborn expression. He had no intentions of letting you go, and neither did his five other guards that had blocked your way.
"You have to be her!"
"You don't even know my name!"
You were really counting on Grim to get someone, anyone, to stop this wedding. Yet, as you are walked down the aisle by the fair Neige, you are already planning out a divorce settlement plan. Based on the number of guests here, who had filled this entire venue from top to bottom, you would have guessed that this prince was rather rich. If it was to be an unhappy marriage, at least your wallet would be more than compensated.
You managed to convince this prince to send invitations to Night Raven College, but that didn't matter. He was so excited and in a hurry to marry, that your friends barely had any time to rescue you! There must have been so much traffic with the mirrors that they couldn't even use them! There was just no way that they'd make it in time now.
And so you consign yourself to readying some divorce papers within the next few weeks, and planning out how to avoid any more interactions with this guy while you were married.
You stood at the chapel's base, your expression exasperated than ever as you kept darting your gaze to the door. You've already tripped over the aisle a few times, fumbled the scripted vows, and even called for a bathroom break or two to stall.
And now comes the big moment that you were so desperately trying to avoid.
"Would you, Pierce Charmant, take the Ramshackle Dorm Prefect, as your lawfully wedded wife?"
The prince smiles so sickly sweet, and its the look of a man who won't change his mind.
"I do."
You grimace as the officiant faces you, just as blind to your annoyed expression.
"Would you, the Ramshackle Dorm Prefect, take Pierce Charmant as you lawfully wedded husband?" They didn't even use your name!
You pause, the image of your crush flashing before your eyes.
You would never see him again if you let yourself get married. Defiance returns to your face as you suck in a deep breath, ready to deal with the consequences of rejecting this delusional prince in front of hundreds of people.
"I—"
"I object!"
RIDDLE ROSEHEARTS
"Grim, please explain to me why I received an invitation to the Prefect's wedding... I am calm, Trey. I would just prefer to know the details before I go and fetch her myself... and may I ask one more thing? Yes, hoW IN THE WORLD DID THE PREFECT GET KIDNAPPED LIKE THIS?! DON'T YOU DARE TRY TO CALM ME DOWN, CATER. I AM PERFECTLY CALM."
Riddle calmly asked about your whereabouts, and it does not take him long to immediately get to work. As one of the better respected housewardens among the roster, it was easier to ask for a few favors that could get him to that damned cathedral fast. However, as the traffic did pile up to get to this accursed wedding, Riddle finds himself on horseback.
He does have this awful crush on you, but it never really crosses his mind. Even as he holds certain feelings for you, it's at the back of his mind. Riddle values your autonomy, and this marriage was a massive red flag. Surely, you cannot have possibly agreed to such a thing. It was just not in your nature. You would have protested, and the fact that you are not back in campus means that something is preventing you from speaking your mind. Riddle really respects you in this aspect!
Still, the idea of you marrying some prince who barely knew it was absolutely absurd. Riddle won't allow it, he absolutely won't!
The doors were flung open with a loud thud, revealing a red-head in a suit. Much to your surprise, Riddle isn't burning red with a fiery rage and threatening to have everyone's head off. He's stomping towards you and your supposed groom, fist clenched as he throws out an arm out of anger. He doesn't seem too angry, but determined.
"ENOUGH! SHE WILL BE COMING BACK TO NIGHT RAVEN COLLEGE WITH ME NOW."
Okay, maybe you were wrong about him not being angry.
His voice echoes throughout the entire cathedral, followed by several flinches at his sheer volume. Immediately, the crowd by the rows inch back a bit further as he continues to march forward, ignoring the guards that seemed to hesitate to approach him. Pierce raises a brow, almost annoyed rather than fearful of this disturbance.
"There seems to be a misunderstanding. You see, the Prefect is going to be married to me. You can sort out your affairs after the ceremony is over." Well, that didn't seem to help one bit, judging by how Riddle seemed to fume even further at this statement.
The housewarden comes to a halt, sucking in a sharp breath to calm his temper. The last thing he wanted to do right now was to frighten you.
He breathes out your name, sending a stutter through your heart.
"Do you truly want to marry this man?"
It almost makes you swoon, the way Riddle looks at you so earnestly as he asks for some affirmation. Had it been any other scenario, you would've taken your time to bore your eyes into his and study his expression. Instead, you shake your head wildly, racing down the aisle until you have hidden yourself behind him.
Riddle has the nerve to smirk at the shocked Prince. "And here, I thought princes had a code of conduct when it came to their ladies." He turned back to you with an assuring look. "I'll take you home, Prefect."
Truly, Riddle had no intentions of playing around. He had only one objective, to get you out of here. Just as he turns around to escort you out of the cathedral, a pair of guards had blocked the exit.
"No, I cannot let you leave!" Pierce cried out, ready to give chase. "Prefect, please! Give me a chance. You cannot possibly be ready to leave me for... this guy!"
Riddle's eye twitches as he cranes himself to look at the prince. "You have some nerve!" He clicks out, clenching his fists once more. Everyone feels the cathedral heat up, those closer to the aisles feeling beads of sweat form upon their temples. Even as you looked at Riddle so gently, a part of you was somewhat grateful that he was sticking up for you.
Just as his top was about to blow, you muster the will to tug on Riddle's sleeve. As quickly as his reddened face came, it disappears when he glances back at your soft expression. Huffing out a heavy sigh, Riddle clicks his tongue and marches towards the exit.
"Let's be on our way, Prefect. We shouldn't waste our precious time on these trifles."
Needless to say, no one really wanted to test the housewarden's patience as he escorted you out of that Cathedral. Riddle certainly doesn't waste time hoisting you onto his horse and galloping away, not giving the prince a second to try and retrieve you.
He grumbles about the entire ordeal, mostly questioning the absolute ridicule of the marriage. What kind of prince thinks he can get away with it? Riddle is certain to send a complain to Royal Sword Academy regarding their lessons on conduct if no one tries to stop him.
You could easily see Night Raven College from afar as you peeked from behind his tuft of red hair. Riddle is still rambling, a preferable alternative to losing his temper entirely. "That ruffian dares to marry you and has yet to learn your name! How uncouth!" He spat in absolute distaste, and he finds comfort in the way you giggle in agreement.
Riddle doesn't seem to take note of the way your arms are crossed around his middle, or maybe he does, and just chooses not to let his blush show. He cleared his throat, gripping the reigns a bit tighter. "You will find better suitors, Prefect. Just promise me that he wouldn't be so impulsive as that Prince."
TREY CLOVER
"Can you drive any faster, Deuce? No, I don't think we're late. Better safe than sorry! ... Suit, check. Speech, check. Myself, check. I've got everything in order, but... hah, I'd expect to do this type of thing a few years down the line, let alone object at a wedding at all. At least, it's the Prefect's wedding... That's such a weird thing to conceptualize at this point in time."
He really didn't have to be so dramatic about the entire thing, but Trey is really going all-out for this objection. Really, all he's done is seen movies where someone objects at a wedding and while he knows its entirely fictional, our boy here has to drive the point home; no one is marrying the Prefect today.
So that explains why he even bothered to dress up and rehearse a speech throughout the entire ride to the cathedral. He has Heartslabyul helping him out to secure an escape for you in case things went awry. Sure, Trey's Unique Magic won't come in handy but he's good with his words, and is relatively charismatic. He's earned that title of Vice Housewarden, after all.
All that preparation flies out the window when he sees you down the aisle, however.
"Trey?"
He's blinking profusely, almost flustered himself by how radiant you looked in that wedding dress. For a moment, Trey swears that he's had some sort of tunnel vision when all he seems to see is you. It strikes some envy in him when he reminds himself that this wasn't his wedding, and this wouldn't be yours either.
"Prefect..." Trey breathed out, struggling to recall the damn script he was supposed to follow. They are lost, just as he found himself lost in your sparkling gaze.
Screw the script, he was just going to have to wing this one.
He narrows his eyes onto the shocked prince, taking steps down that long carpet. "I've come to bring you back to Night Raven College."
Pierce raises a brow, glancing back at you and the intruder with suspicion. "On what grounds?" He questions snidely, uncertain of what to make of this new character. "If it is for anything trivial, then you may bother the Prefect later. You are obstructing a ceremony here, sir."
You recognize that dangerous glint behind Trey's eyes, and it only serves to make your heart race. Trey simply smirks, hiding away his hesitant exterior with a haughty farce. "I am afraid it cannot wait. I cannot allow the Prefect to be married without saying my piece."
He doesn't exactly know where all his bravado was coming from, but if he had to confess his feelings to you now, then so be it.
Trey looks at you, flashing a gentle yet sheepish smile. "Prefect, I fell for you. Hook, line, and sinker." You let out a dramatic gasp along with the onlookers, allowing a hand to fly to your parted lips. "I have harbored those feelings for a long time now, and I cannot bring myself to see you married without letting my heart be known."
Swallowing to himself, Trey's expression falters slightly, falling into one of softness. "Prefect, it is your happiness that I desire. No matter what happens, I will support your choice."
He didn't exactly have to tell you twice, not when you hurry yourself over to his side and latch onto his arm. You didn't have to feed his ego like that, but it isn't as if Trey had any room to complain.
Pierce is angered by the sight, glaring daggers at Trey with such envy and animosity. "Prefect, are you really leaving me on the altar?" As if to subtly annoy the prince even further, Trey hooks an arm around your waist and pivots you to turn. "It seems to be so, Prince Pierce. I fear that your beautiful bride will be stolen on this lovely afternoon."
You do not miss the way Trey smirks at your flustered expression. Just as he continues to walk you to the exit, you gritted your teeth at him. "Don't say such things!" You tell him as the heat rises to your cheeks. You hear him hum at your ear, followed by the slight press of his fingers on your hip.
"Why shouldn't I? You look beautiful in this dress," Trey murmurs in your ear, pushing the cathedral door open with his hand. "And I suppose that the prince hasn't coaxed this expression out of you. I almost feel sorry for him, that he never got the chance to see how lovely you are when you are putty in my hands."
Trey doesn't stop teasing you, even once you are back in Night Raven College. He wouldn't stop complimenting you either, aiming to have you as red as possible. He just can't help it. It's probably the high he got from confessing his feelings to you, or maybe it's the part where you're unsure if he was being sincere or not. Regardless, it was fun seeing you get all flustered because of him.
You are seated by the Heartslabyul's kitchen counter, snacking on some quick treats that Trey had prepared for you. He claims that it was a consolation for the fact you never got to taste your own wedding cake. Still clad in your grand wedding dress, you couldn't exactly care any less about the crumbs soiling the skirts. "You're no prince charming, Trey." You mentioned mid-bite, eyes glancing at the vice-housewarden who was seated across from you.
"What makes you say that?" He asks you with a slight smile, resting his chin on his palm as he shamelessly bored his gaze into yours.
You snort, rolling your eyes at his seemingly sweet disposition. "Prince Charmings don't tease the girls that they like until they're as red as Riddle." You huffed, digging your fork into the pastry. "You cruel man! You haven't stopped ever since you stole me from the prince!"
Trey chuckles, and you cannot keep yourself from gulping as he leaves his seat, sauntering towards you like a lion would his prey. "Oh? I suppose that I am no Prince Charming. I'm not a pure white knight either. If you think I am being cruel, I won't stop you, sweetheart."
Your heart stutters as he slides a finger underneath your chin, tilting your head so that your forced to look his way. Trey smiles at you, eyes twinkling with absolute mischief. "I highly doubt Prince Charmings steal kisses from their crushes either. For you, I will be kind. May I, sweetheart? I do not need your shoe size to know my feelings for you, at least."
CATER DIAMOND
"Gah, it just refreshed! They've just gotten past the walking part! Deuce, shortcut on your left! Sorry, I'm switching tabs between maps and the livestream! Prefect looks is such a cutie in that dress, it makes me so envious of the prince! Oh well, she really looks like she doesn't wanna be there anyways. I'm coming Prefect! I'll save you!"
There's just this image of Cater clinging onto Deuce on a blastcycle, raising his phone up for a signal as they attempt to maneuver their way through the streets. Everything just happened in such a rush, and Cater's scrambling to get to you. He isn't like Trey who bothers to prepare, but if anything, Cater will ramp up the dramatics to the maximum.
His real goal is just to get you out by any means necessary, and more preferably, without violence. So Cater will do what he does best; make a grand spectacle of the entire thing until the prince is forced to abdicate. Worst case scenario, he's going to drag you out the door and shove you onto the damn blastcycle.
If he has to play the part of your real paramour, then he hopes you'll forgive him. He's got the suit and the desperate look on his face ready to go!
Your jaw goes slack at the way Cater makes a dramatic run for the aisle, somewhat unused to that stricken expression on his face. You're almost concerned for him with the way he grips his knees, attempting to keep his balance as his eyes zone in onto yours.
"Prefect, you can't marry him!" It's too out of character of Cater, and you know better than to think he'd ever be this undone in public. "Is this what you really want?!" Before you could even reply, Pierce cuts in with a slight glare.
"And who are you to talk to my bride like that?" It is then when you catch wind of that mischievous glint in Cater's eye as he throws out his arm dramatically.
"I am the Prefect's sweetheart! Who are you to take my girlfriend like that?"
You have never heard the cathedral go so silent. You are utterly speechless, lips parted with absolute surprise. Clearly, judging by the way sweat had begun to form on the side of Cater's temple, you cannot help but think that this was all improv on his half.
Pierce turns to look at you, almost stricken by the ginger's declaration. "Prefect, is that true?" His voice trembles with fear. "Is that truly your... sweetheart?"
A part of you feels a bit sorry for what you were about to do, but you had to remind yourself that you had been dragged into a wedding on the same day you met this prince.
You are running now, sprinting to Cater's side as you clutch his hand in your own. Turning back to the scandalized prince, you nod firmly, playing along with the farce. "We've been dating for a long time now! And I'm in love with him!" You declare, sending gasps throughout the entire cathedral.
You glance up at Cater, mustering a smile across your features. "You came to save me!" He's almost surprised by the way you cling onto him even harder, but it only serves to sell the act even further. Cater smiles in return, holding you closely. "I'd never let you go, cutie. I love you too much to let you leap into the arms of another man."
Maybe the act is too good, too calculated. That is exactly what goes through your head as Pierce raises a brow in suspicion, narrowing his eyes onto the pair as if attempting to spot a mistake. "Is that so?" He murmurs until he crosses his arms, disbelief on his skeptical expression.
"Prove it."
Cater and you freeze up simultaneously, heads turning to glance at one another. He looked so caught off guard by Pierce's demand, and there's so many eyes on you both.
"You're both longtime sweethearts, right? I wouldn't want to split apart such a happy couple..."
Cater is staring at you, attempting to read your expression. It's difficult, especially when you look at him as your gaze gets even more glossy. He wouldn't want to do anything you didn't want to, and he's already readying himself to sprint out the door with you in tow.
"Prefect, you don't have to—mmph!"
You wasted no time in snaking your arms around his neck, pressing your lips against him with such boldness. He could feel you pour all your wants and longings into the kiss, the plush of your soft lips melding into his own. How could he not deny you his own affections, not as he cups your cheeks with his slender fingers and presses back against you.
He dares to go even further, pulling back for a slight gasp of air before diving back into you. Much to his delight, you aren't pulling away either, choosing to even entangle your fingers into his hair for leverage.
Then you hear a groan from the prince, followed by his pleas for you two to stop this display. It seems that he got the point now, at least.
Even as both of you exit the cathedral, Cater still maintains the image that he was your boyfriend. You don't exactly protest, and even then, it didn't seem to different to the way Cater had been treating you as a friend. He is still as clingy as ever, closing the physical proximities by having you hang onto his arm.
And you best believe he's snapping as much photos of you to commemorate the event. He's already updating his MagiCam account on his success, not to mention the pretty girl on his arm.
"Cater, what are you doing?" You asked, unable to hide the grin on your face as Cater sets up his camera against the tire of the blastcycle. You could see yourselves on the reflection of the device, followed by the grand beauty of the cathedral behind you both. He grins at you as he shifts at your side.
"What? It isn't everyday a cutie like you gets to look like a bride. We got the perfect backdrop!" He sings, sliding an arm around your waist as he strikes for a pose. You follow his lead, matching his energy with each shot.
"Careful! People are going to think we're dating for real!"
Cater smirks at you, leaning in closely to your ear with a sickeningly sweet tease. "Wanna make it official then, cutie? Can't have any random princes asking for your hand, not when you're dating me." He is not stranger to the way you blush, letting out a chuckle at the sight.
"Aw, cutie! Are you still thinking about the kiss? I didn't think you would be so bold about it." Pressing a quick peck on the cheek, he rests his chin on your head as he prepares for another pose. "Don't worry. CayCay's gonna initiate it next time!"
DEUCE SPADE
"Grim, which way?! I can't see the GPS! ... Don't I just have to go in there and yell 'I object'? It looks easy! I'll say it then drag Prefect out of there... Ha?! I need to prove that I have a good reason to get her out? Fine! I don't care, the Prefect needs me!"
Possibly the closest we will get to a legit Prince Charming. Perhaps Deuce is a bit on the rugged side, but he's possibly one of the most earnest and noble students from Night Raven College. He cares about you more than he cares about getting his feelings across, but that is not to say he won't be honest about it either in this confrontation.
He's not exactly sure on how to break up the ceremony. Grim and Ace are coaching him through what to say, and admittedly, the process seems too complicated. All he knows is that he has to run through those doors and convince the prince to not marry the Prefect by any means necessary.
"Deuce!"
He is the one to always come running at the sound of your name. Deuce had been someone you trusted during your stay here in Twisted Wonderland, and you never seemed to stop and think about just how attached that boy was to you. Sure, you held him closely as a friend and held affections for him, but the way he sprinted towards you was a testament to how much he cared.
"Prefect!" You are racing to meet him halfway, launching yourself into his chest. He catches you barreling into his suit, immediately wrapping his arms around you in a protective manner. Then he takes you by the soldiers, looking down at you with such concern and worry. "Are you hurt? Are you okay?" He fusses, earning a shy smile from you.
"I'm okay, Deuce. I'm okay."
"And what is the meaning of this?"
Catching sight of the infuriated prince, Deuce beckons you to stand behind him. Cerulean eyes narrow onto the groom with animosity, accompanied by the way his hands are itching towards his wand. "I can't let you marry her. The Prefect will be returning to Night Raven College with me." You can sense the nervousness in his tone, but Deuce remains firm in his words.
Pierce's eye twitches, and he scoffed in disbelief at Deuce's protective display. "I am afraid that cannot be possible. I am marrying the Prefect, and that is final." Clicking his tongue, Pierce rolls his eyes and holds out his hand for you to take. "Come, darling. I am not surprised that you have garnered the affections of an admirer, but I fancy you more than this one ever could."
Something in Deuce snaps as he lets out a cry.
"But I love her!"
You stiffen against his back, taken by surprise by Deuce's sudden confession. And the boy glares, and it almost so painful for Pierce to keep his stare, not when there was so much conviction and certainty behind Deuce's voice.
"I've loved her longer than you have, and known her much longer than that!" His voice cracks underneath the emotional turmoil bubbling within him. "Did you even stop to consider what she wants? Did you wonder if this wedding would make her happy in the first place?!"
You take note of how Deuce's fists are clenched pale, how his breaths had suddenly grown haggard. With a soft expression, you curl yourself onto his back, arms hugging him from behind in an attempt to placate him. His body stiffens against your hold, but he reaches to clasp your hands onto his own.
He is just thankful that you aren't seeing the way his eyes had begun to water at the thought of losing you entirely. "So please," He chokes out, expression twisted with a sort of agony.
"Please don't force her to marry you. She deserves so much more than that."
Thanks to the waterworks that Deuce had caused, the wedding was called off. There was just no way that the prince could marry you after Deuce poured his heart out to deter him from wedding you.
It's almost sweet, the way that Deuce lifts you onto the blastcycle and fixes the helmet onto your head. He encourages you to hold onto him tightly as he speeds away from the cathedral, all the more determined to settle you back into NRC.
By the time he's dropped you off at the Ramshackle Dorm, only then does he take the time to bask in how radiant you appeared in a wedding dress. Thinking about his crush in a wedding dress had never crossed Deuce's mind before, but this definitely gave him something to ponder about for the next couple of nights.
You are handing him the helmet, a shy smile surfacing across your features. "Thank you for saving me from that awful wedding." Deuce clears his throat, shifting his gaze as he takes the helmet from your grasp. "I didn't want you to do something you weren't willing to. It just isn't right."
He doesn't realize just how dry his throat as gotten when he cannot bring himself to keep his thoughts to himself. "I love you. I really do, and I wish I said it at a better time." He swallows to himself, letting the embarrassment burn into the back of his head as he recalls his declaration. It was only natural that 'like' would turn into 'love' after being your close confidant for this long, pining quietly during the months spent with you.
You cannot exactly blame him either, not when his feelings were entirely reciprocated. You shift on the balls of your heel, biting onto your lower lip.
And in a swift motion, you lean in to press a chaste kiss against Deuce's warm cheek. You pull away to bask upon the stunned expression on his face, only to give him a shy smile of your own.
"Would you be down to try confessing again tomorrow?"
ACE TRAPPOLA
"BAHAHAHAHA! THERE'S NO WAY THE PREFECT IS GETTING MARRIED. WHO WOULD EVER WANNA MARRY THE PREFECT? PFFFFT, GRIM, YOU'RE SERIOUSLY PULLING MY LEG HERE. YOU EVEN BROUGHT ME A FAKE INVITATION! AIN'T NO WAY THAT SHE— Oh... Wait, really? The wedding is happening right now? ... Oh."
Ace thought you were just messing him again for that one time he said that no one would ever be interested in you. He simply said that to discourage you from trying to pursue a relationship with anyone else, but he didn't mean for you to prove him wrong like that! He never believes Grim until Deuce, Riddle, and the rest of Heartslabyul receive invitations to a wedding that was meant to start in 3 hours.
This is the absolute worst time to be in denial about his feelings. The Prefect wearing a wedding gown is one thing, but another is the fact that the groom is some pompous prince from Royal Sword Academy. Does that guy seriously think he was your type? No way! Ace knows you better than anyone on this campus, so this guy can buzz off!
A part of him did think that you were serious about marrying this stranger. In all fairness, Crowley's allowance pales in comparison to whatever Mr. Money-Bags had over there. He wouldn't blame you if you were marrying the guy for money.
Still, the last thing he wants is for you to be whisked away to who knows where. Ace would never see you again, and as embarrassing as it sounds, he did get very attached to you. Yes, a part of him wants to keep you to himself, but he also values your autonomy here. And if he knew you that well, he knows that you wouldn't want to be married off like this.
"Prefect, I'm here to pick you up."
You are actually surprised by how princely Ace looked in that moment. Dressed in a suit befitting a groom, you could help but feel your breath stolen away once his scarlet eyes were pinned onto yours. You could have been fooled then, and perhaps, Ace did turn into a prince as he marched down the aisle with his arm outstretched for you to take.
Ace never realizes the way a victorious smile creeps onto his face when you break out into a grin, taking the skirt of your dress as you make run for it. The crowd gasps as you crashed into Ace's chest, and he does not hesitate to take a protective stance in front of you. With a haughty laugh, he smirks at the baffled prince. "Who are you?!"
The redhead's arm wraps around your waist, pressing your body closer to his own. "Sorry about that, but I'll be taking your bride indefinitely! Trust me, you'll be severely disappointed after spending one good day with her!" He snickered, much to your horrified expression. You lightly smack at his chest, glaring at him with that pout that he adores so much.
"Hey!" You whine, and Ace simply beams at the prince who hesitantly steps forward. The redhead snorts, rolling his eyes at the crowd that are offended at his immature display. "I'm doing you a great favor here! If you kissed those lips, she'll turn into an ugly green ogre by sunset!"
"HEY!"
Pierce's eyebrows are furrowed as he looks at you, as if pleading for you to return to his arms. "You'd best return her, boy. We can settle this maturely." Ace does not like the way that these bodyguards are eyeing him, shifting closer and closer as he backed you both towards the venue entrance. He never falters, and neither does that shit-eating grin on his face.
"Sorry, buddy. The clock's struck midnight and all your magic tricks are fading!" He barks. Now, he knows that an escape must be made. The last thing he wants is to have another Eliza-episode. He looks down at you with a wide grin, clasping you arm with a firm squeeze.
Ace sneaks into his pocket, still looking at you. "You know something, Charmant? Maybe not all the magic has gone yet." His hand reveals the Ace of Cards, and it is immediately thrown up into the air.
As the card reached its peak in height, a burst of smoke filled the air, obscuring the magician and yourself from view.
You don't exactly need a signal to start running when your feet began moving on their own, dashing towards the door followed by the Ace's laugh and the prince's demand for guards.
Ace has no white horse, but he has Deuce with his blastcycle! Who knows how the three of you managed to fit on that bike, but you made it work! The guards couldn't exactly catch up in their cars, not when Deuce was dodging vehicles left and right to make this escape. Ace did take one final look back, sticking his tongue out at the defeated prince before you all disappeared around the corner.
Ace gives you his shoes, despite how oversized they may be. You complained about those glass shoes on you, and to 'shut you up', he's given you his runners.
When you make it back to Night Raven College and all the adrenaline has died down, Ace stays by your side the entire time when you explain the entire situation to Crewel and Crowley. He acts so nonchalant about things, even as you both walk all over the campus like groom and bride.
It's a rather odd sight; you in your wedding gown, and Ace right next to you as you both sit on the bench by the Great Seven's statues. Students wandering about at night had given both of you puzzled stares, but no one is ever surprised when they realize it's you and Ace, however.
"Wow, Prefect. Not even a thank you?" He glances at your slightly annoyed expression, throwing his hands up defensively in response. "I was kidding about the ogre stuff! Really!"
You could only roll your eyes at his words, huffing as you crossed your arms across your chest. When you refuse to speak, Ace sticks out his lower lip into a pout as he leans his head onto your shoulder. "Come on, don't be like that. Are you actually that upset about it?"
There is no response from you, not even a glance as your nose is turned away from him. Then Ace sighs, practically clambering over your lap just so that you are forced to look at him. "Prefeeeect, I said I was sorry! What? Do I have to kiss you to make me apology authentic?"
Only then do you look back at him with a raised brow, almost expectant. Ace blinks with surprise, a slight blush creeping to his ears. "For real? You're serious?" He exclaimed, much to your agitation. You sigh even louder as you shove him off your lap, hastily getting up to your feet to leave him behind.
"Wait! Prefect, I said wait!" You feel a hand on your wrist, twirling you back to face the redhead. Ace bites onto his lower lip, unable to keep the red from flooding his cheeks. "I really just said all that mean stuff to get the prince off your back, you know? I didn't think you'd take it so seriously."
And when he sees that smirk creeping up onto your features, he groans as he leans in closely into your space.
"Now look at what you've done! You had me all panicked over what?" You feel his breath tickling your lips, followed by the way his hands crawl up your neck to cradle your jaw.
"If you just wanted a kiss, you could've asked..."

date crasher — dick grayson

synopsis. dick grayson swears he’s not in love with you. he just happens to find an unreasonable amount of joy in ruining your dates. purely for entertainment, of course.
contents. fluff, lowkey manipulative dick? he’s weird, theyre both whipped but they’re also both equally dense.
notes. inspired by that one smallville scene.

Despite what everyone says, Dick does not have feelings for you. You’re annoying, bossy, and frankly, rude. Definitely the opposite of his type. Or so he tells himself as he trudges to your apartment, cursing every step like it’s some great inconvenience instead of an excuse to see you.
You open the door with a glare so sharp it could cut glass. “You again?”
“Shower’s broken,” he says like it explains everything.
You blink. “And?”
He raises an eyebrow. “Let me use yours.”
A sharp laugh escapes your mouth. “Oh, sure, yeah. Let me just roll out the red carpet for Gotham’s most dramatic orphan.”
“Would it kill you to be nice to me for once?”
“Probably.” You cross your arms. "You literally live in a penthouse, Grayson. Call a plumber like a normal rich person. Or better yet, go use one of Bruce’s fifty extra bathrooms.”
Dick sighs, already tired. “First of all, Alfred’s out of town, and I’m not about to let Bruce nag me about home maintenance. Second, I’d rather take my chances with you than with Jason. You want me dead? Because he definitely does.”
You hum, considering. “Tempting.”
“Oh, come on, it’s just a shower.”
You squint at him, like you’re searching for the catch. “Fine. But you better not take forever. Some of us actually have social lives.”
Dick steps inside with a smirk. “Right, those thrilling Friday night plans of yours. What is it this time? Reorganizing your bookshelf? Watching true crime documentaries and judging people’s bad decisions?”
You scowl. “For your information, I have a date.”
His smirk falters. Just a little. “Date?”
“Yes, Grayson, some of us are desirable. Now hurry up so I don’t have to explain to him why my apartment smells like a stray I let in out of pity.”
Dick rolls his eyes but heads to the bathroom before you can catch the way his jaw clenches.
The bathroom door shuts behind him, and the moment he turns the water on, Dick sighs, rubbing a hand down his face. Being around you is exhausting and the hot water does little to soothe his irritation. You always have something to say about him. His stupid smirk, his messy hair, his tendency to throw on whatever shirt is closest without looking in a mirror.
Fine. If you’re going to be so obsessed with his hair, he’ll just use all of your expensive shampoo out of spite.
He squeezes way too much into his palm and lathers aggressively, enjoying the petty satisfaction. But as the steam fills the air, the scent of you clings to him. Vanilla. Something floral. Something undeniably you.
His nose scrunches.
It’s nauseating.
…Nauseating, he swears.
But he doesn’t stop sniffing.
Damn it.
Dick groans, pressing his forehead against the cold tile, letting the slowly cooling water run down his body in a weak attempt to regain his composure.
"Get a grip," he mutters under his breath. He’s a trained vigilante, a disciplined fighter raised by one of the greatest strategists in history. He’s faced warlords, assassins, and intergalactic threats without breaking a sweat.
So why does his stubborn mind keep circling back to the fact that his shower isn’t actually broken? That he’s here, in your bathroom, standing under your showerhead, using your shampoo, because he was bored enough to come bother you?
Now he sounds like a complete loser.
The thought barely has time to settle before..
BANG. BANG. BANG.
“GRAYSON, YOU BETTER NOT BE RUBBING ONE OUT IN THERE.”
Dick jerks upright so fast he nearly slips. “Excuse me?”
“You’ve been in there forever! I can feel the steam coming through the door!” Your voice carries through, laced with that whine. The one where you drag your words out just enough to send shivers down his spine. He hates it. It’s infuriating. It’s…
“Don’t make me send you my water bill,” you huff.
Dick sighs, turning the water off and grabbing a towel. “I’ve been in here for, like, ten minutes. What’s the rush?”
“My date’s here, genius, and I left my purse in the bathroom.”
Dick pauses, towel in hand. His grip tightens around the fabric as an unexpected weight settles in his stomach. His frown is instinctive, but he masks it with a quip before he can dwell on it.
“Purse?” He tuts, stepping out of the shower. “The guy’s making you pay? Wow.” He whistles lowly. “You have awful taste in men.”
Silence.
Then, barely audible through the door.
"Trust me, I know."
Something about your quietness shifts the atmosphere. The usual fire in your voice dims just enough for him to recognize it. Hesitation, maybe. He doesn’t know why it makes his chest tighten.
An idea strikes him. One that he’d know would definitely rile you up.
With his towel slung low around his hips, he heads for the door.
You sigh in relief when he finally exits the bathroom, but the relief is quickly replaced a glare.
“The hell are you doing?” Your voice is suspicious, but he can hear the shuffle of your footsteps behind him.
Dick smirks. “Relax. I just wanna meet the poor guy who’s stuck with you for the night. Give him a warning and all that.”
“Grayson, don’t you dare—”
But he already has his hand on the doorknob. And the way your eyes widen in actual panic makes a sick part of him swell with amusement.
“Are you crazy?!” You lunge for him, but Dick is faster— or maybe you let him be faster. Either way, it’s too late.
The door swings open.
Your date stands frozen on the other side, his eyes nearly bulging out of his head as he takes in the sight of Dick Grayson dripping wet, shirtless, towel hanging just low enough to be scandalous.
“…Uh.”
The poor guy looks from Dick to you, eyes flickering down to where your hand is still gripping Dick’s bicep, peeking out from behind him like some kind of guilty party.
The silence stretches.
“Hey,” Dick says easily, leaning against the doorframe like he’s in his own apartment. “You must be the guy.”
Your date blinks rapidly, clearly struggling to compute the situation.
Dick grins, because this is too easy. “So… you treating them right, or should I be worried?”
But Dick isn’t stupid. He knows the guy isn’t right for you. No, he doesn’t know how you take your coffee in the morning, or that you have this annoying habit of leaning on the nearest person, him, of course, when you’re tired. And he definitely doesn’t know how your voice gets all breathless when you two play fight, like you’re trying not to smile even when you’re pretending to be mad.
You shove him. “Grayson, I swear to—”
But the way your date’s expression shifts, how he suddenly looks a little less sure tells Dick everything he needs to know.
And if that knowledge makes his smirk widen? Well.
He’ll chalk it up as a win.

thank you for reading! :3

thinking about the aftermath of the final war with bakugou.
It’s more often that you and Bakugou are the only ones left in the dorms after the war. The others chose to go back to their homes when the school’s implementation of mandatory dorm living lifted, and some decided to stay a little longer.
“Taste this.”
Bakugou raised a brow but didn’t protest as you walked over, spooning some curry towards his mouth. With a slight huff, he leaned forward, lips parting just enough to take the spoon. The moment it hit his tongue, his nose scrunched slightly.
“Careful, it’s still a bit hot.”
“Mild,” he muttered after swallowing. “You could barely even taste the richness of the sauce, too.”
You let out an exasperated sigh, frowning. “Are you serious? I followed your recipe.”
“Still mild; you brought shame to my recipe.”
You gave him an unimpressed look before turning back on the pot. “Wow, then maybe you should’ve been the one cooking here. I’m gonna check what went wrong.”
“I would if I could, dipshit.”
“Just get over here and check, too.”
“Nuh-uh. You said you’d cook tonight.”
“And you’re the one who keeps on complaining that I didn’t do your recipe justice!”
“That’s a fact.”
“Starve.”
He huffed, shaking his head as he went back to his writing practice, but there was something in his expression—something almost amused.
-
Bakugou sat by his study desk, his left hand gripping a pen tightly as he tried to force his stubborn fingers into writing something readable. His handwriting had always been sharp and textbook-pristine penmanship that you could mistake it for being printed, but now, with his right hand still recovering, it looked… awful.
You sat a good distance next to him, watching with an unreadable expression.
“Oi,” Bakugou grunted, not looking up. “The hell are you staring at?”
“Your letters look like a baby bird scratched them out,” you said bluntly, not even bothering to hold back on your words.
He clicked his tongue. “Like I don’t already know that.”
You reached over, grabbing his notebook before he could protest, flipping back to his first attempts from a few weeks ago. The letters were uneven, practically illegible. Then you held it up next to his latest attempt.
“See? You’re getting better.” You turned the notebook toward him. “You can actually read this one.”
He scoffed but didn’t deny it. Instead, he reached for the notebook, but you yanked it away at the last second, grinning.
“You don’t get this back until you admit I’m a good teacher.”
Bakugou glared at you, debating whether this was worth a fight. Finally, he sighed, leaning back against the chair.
“Fine. You’re not the worst teacher.”
“I’ll take it.”
“Don’t get too cocky.”
“Me? Never. That’s more of a you thing and not a me thing.”
“Like hell it’s only me.”
You laughed. “Let’s try numbers this time; I even bought a tracing book.”
“That shit’s for kids,” he scoffed.
“It says three and up,” you argued. “You’re three and up, are you not? And—who knows? Maybe after this you’ll be ambidextrous.”
“Shut up.”
-
“Run.”
That was the only warning before Bakugou grabbed your wrist and bolted.
The sound of rapid footsteps and excited squeals filled the hall behind you. A group of first-year girls was hot on your trail, giddy with the thrill of chasing UA’s most popular second-year student.
“Why the hell do they keep following me?!” Bakugou barked as you rounded a corner, his grip still firm on your wrist.
“Because you’re literally their idol,” you said between breaths, peeking to see as the girls went the opposite direction. “They see you as some kind of bad boy heartthrob ever since the Sports Festival. It’s kinda cute.”
“It’s not cute—it’s annoying!”
You found an empty classroom and slammed the door shut. Both of you stood there, panting. Outside, the sounds of giggling and footsteps faded down the hall, the first-years continuing their search elsewhere.
You let out a breath and leaned against a desk. “Could be worse. They could be chasing you with cameras like the paparazzi did.”
Bakugou groaned, rubbing his temple with his free hand. “Don’t even joke about that.”
You nudged his shoulder, smiling. “You didn’t have to drag me with you, y’know? Or is this an excuse to be alone in a room with me?”
He glared at you, opening his mouth to argue—but then he caught the teasing glint in your eyes and scoffed, shaking his head.
“Fucking idiot. You’d get trampled over by that mob.”
“Sure, sure. I’ll tell Iida to see if he can scout the area to make sure no one’s going to jump at us when we leave.”
You laughed, and despite himself, Bakugou didn’t find it all that annoying. He actually found it... familiar and worth something he can’t put into words.

BANG BANG BANG lll

summery - thanos was always just such an easy person to argue with. you really hated the guy and that was something that was never going to change, even if your life was on the line and it fucking was.
pairing: (thanos) choi su-bong x fem. reader
word count: 2.8k
contains: violence, drug use and addiction, dark content - just usual squid game stuff really
a/n: many wished for a part 3, so here you go!
prev. | masterlist.
Money, money, money - must be funny, in the rich man's world? And you know what, it probably was. Though, it wasn't as if a single fucking person in this room would know that. Otherwise, you all wouldn't be here in the first place, would you now?
There were a few among you who couldn't shake off the desire to understand those lyrics, even if it meant risking your lives for it. Well, and by a few you meant more than half of the people around here. You would bet that they would put even more on the line if they had anything else, but no - your own life was all you had and maybe well, the life of the others around you.
All it took was stuffing a few banknotes into a golden piggy to make all the other pigs hope that it could be them up there - that they could be the lucky person that got the money. It seemed to be true, you could take people's lives but not their stupid hope. The one thing that would still be the demise of many, it had to. The prize money wouldn't increase without their sacrifice, after all.
Everyone knows how stories like that ended. You know, the ones where desperate people fight against each other for a chance? Watching all the glowing faces when the prize money was announced after the first game ended, was like watching a beaten-up dog that someone put outside - only to lure it back into the house with a bowl of food. It was just sick. Well, at least it made you sick.
Your lower lip wouldn't stop quivering and you tried to stop it by biting it, but to no avail. You were sweating while still freezing simultaneously and you were very much familiar with the signals your body was trying to send you. However, you tried to ignore them as best as you could, just like you did with everything else right now.
“Hey, you're really not going to talk to me? What if I die in the next game and the last thing you did was ignoring me?” Thanos' incredibly annoying voice spouted some bullshit again as he leaned against your bed while standing up. He had been trying to get your attention for a while now but you were stubborn and continued to show him your back. He raised an eyebrow questioningly as he nudged you with his hand. “Do you really want this on your conscience? Hey, are you serious? I thought that -”
Thanos stopped what he was saying when you turned aggressively to face him with a rather angry look on your face. He slowly brought his hand back to him as your eyes continued to glance at him with that look. “No, you don't think and that's the problem.” you spat out the words full of venom and tried to control yourself when your eyes shifted to the blue label with the circle on his chest. “Why should I care if you die in the next game, huh? You obviously want to keep playing, you -” and you searched for a word to curse him out, but there just wasn't one that could wrap up your feelings at this moment.
It happened again - he took another chance away from you to just live your life. Maybe it wasn't entirely fair of you to blame him when it was a whole group of people who had voted to stay here, but you stopped caring about what was fair a long time ago. “Whatever, nothing matters anymore anyway.” you laughed out in exasperation as you ran your shaky hand over your face. “I'm going to die next round anyway, but I guess that suits you pretty well, huh? You know, since that means that another 100 million won goes into your pretty piggy bank?”
It was a large sum of money, no question, but - was your life really only worth that much?
Thanos grabbed your arm in annoyance as he shook his head in disbelief at what you were saying. You weren't just a sum of money to him and he didn't understand why you would think that. Yes, he admitted that he fucked up all the time and he had never been the best friend to you, but - if there was one thing, one person that he could care about - that would be you, no questions asked. He still did after all these years, even if he didn't say it, even if he did it in his own twisted way. “Are you crazy? Stop talking stupid shit, you're not going to die!” He exclaimed angrily, not even considering that as an option. “If you'd just stop being so fucking stubborn and join my team, you'd know that too.”
You laughed. “What team? You and your little boyfriend back there?” you asked him as you looked at the guy a little further behind you. He seemed like a good tag-along waiting for his boss. How cute, you were about to throw up. “I doubt you two idiots are going to increase my chances of staying alive.”
Thanos looked at you offensively. “Nam-su is not my boyfriend, okay? And we may still be few, but that will change soon. Can't you just - please trust me? Please?” he just straight up started begging and to be honest, you didn't have much energy left for any arguing at this point.
You wish you had the privilege of being able to say that everything was easier back when you two were kids, but your life was exhausting even then. Your mother had too many children with a deadbeat man like your father and after you were born, they put all their hope in you for some reason - to get them out of their miserable poor lives. You weren't some hero, not then and not now. “Do you know why I have so much debt?” you finally asked Thanos tiredly and he just looked at you silently before shaking his head.
You nodded. Of course, he didn't know, you had never told him since you preferred to cut him off. “Because I lost my scholarship at university after they found out I was a fucking crackhead,” you answered him with a depressed smile. “And it doesn't really help much to be smart or anything if you don't have any money. That was my only chance to pay my way through to not end up like this but now I have to figure out how to pay for all that without working myself to death at a fucking minimum wage job,” you told him.
You thought you could finally get rid of some of the stress - try again with the money you would earn here. Simply giving up your studies wasn't an option, since that would mean that you had to work shitty jobs which didn't pay much for your entire life and not just while studying. You refused to face the same fate as your mother - dropping out after she found out that she was pregnant with you was the first mistake that led to many more.
But of course, you would never complain ever again - hell, you would much rather prefer working every night shift in the world if that would mean that you could get out of here. “And you know what I've been thinking ever since? That if I had never asked you as a stupid kid if I could play with your Iron Man figure, none of this would have ever happened to me.”
This is just fucking great. Fucking bullshit. Thanos angrily smacked himself on the head, knowing he deserved all of this. Yeah, you probably even made the right decision by cutting him out of your life back then, but he still couldn't help but continue to be selfish and want you. He wanted you in his life even if he was the worst thing that ever happened to you because you know what? It didn't change the fact that you were still the best thing that would ever happen to him.
He had been a selfish asshole his whole life and that wouldn't change now, so he couldn't just let you go. “Look, it's just one more game. The money we would have gotten if we quit wouldn't even be enough to buy a Lamborghini and I have to afford at least…” he had to strain his head a little and count with his fingers. “…four of them to pay off my debts. Hell, maybe enough people will die in the next round and there'll be even some left over. I'll also give you back all the money I owe you, I promise! And I'll give you even more if you need it. I want to help you, I really do,” he tried to explain, knowing that he would have more than enough once he took Myung-gi's share too.
He just doesn't understand. You sighed tiredly. “Whatever, I don't really care anymore,” you said and finally gave in. “Okay, sure, I'll join your stupid loser team. Just stop bugging me.”
Thanos smiled broadly and didn't stop himself from pulling you into a weird hug. “You won't regret this! I'll take care of you, okay?” he clarified, and even though he claimed the opposite, you couldn't help but feel like you'd regret it - you always did. “We're going to get out of here and everything will go back to the way it was before, okay?”
You just looked at him and said nothing more as Thanos continued to hold you, finally noticing your slightly poor physical condition. He knew how to solve the problem as well as you did, but even in his current befuddled state, he wasn't sure if he should offer you a pill. “Oh, um - I know this probably isn't the right time for this, but it still feels like I should ask…” he spoke up, looking down at his cross necklace.
You tried to hold back. At least for now. “Ehm, no, I'm fine -” you declined with a slight shake and nodded. “Yes, I'm fine, I'll just go to sleep - exactly.”
You could already tell that this night wasn't going to be an easy one, but as you watched Thanos and that Nam-su guy shoo a few other people out of their beds around your area, so that they could take their place, you knew for sure. How embarrassing, you thought to yourself as you pulled the blanket over your body and hoped that the lights would go out soon.
“Welcome to your second game. We will begin shortly, and this game will be played in teams. Please divide into teams of five in the next ten minutes. Let me repeat -”
I guess we won't be playing Dalgona, after all. You didn't really blame the previous winner of the games, too much. After all, he was in the same shoes as all of you.
“So, we need two more people,” Nam-gyu stated correctly as Thanos confidently slapped him on the back, not doubting picking the best from the pool of players. “Yeah, let's see who we can find. Preferably someone with a lot of muscle and strength,” he said, although you weren't sure what the point of that was since you would be playing children's games. Although, on second thought, the strong kids always managed to win the easiest back then, too…
Thanos looked at you as he pointed his index finger at the ground. “You, wait here. We won't take long,” he commanded you as if you were his pet and you felt your eyebrows twitch slightly at the audacity while you silently watched the two guys go away.
Of course, you didn't listen to what he said and just looked around the crowd yourself when you saw how most of the players had already formed groups. I don't want to be in a team with four idiots, you thought to yourself as you saw two people who seemed to be talking to each other. They seemed to be around your age which made you a bit more comfortable when approaching them. “Excuse me…” you said shyly when you met them because talking to strangers still was something that made you a little nervous. “Would you mind if I joined you?”
The players with the numbers 380 and 125 on their chests looked slightly surprised in your direction. The woman looked at your figure briefly before crossing her arms in front of her. “We are only two, so far.” she clarified before your own number seemed to catch her attention. “Hey, aren't you the one who's always hanging out with that crazy purple-haired guy? I would have expected you to be on a team with him?”
You stroked your hair, slightly uncomfortable. "Did you really notice that? Shit, now everyone probably thinks I'm friends with this guy, how embarrassing,” you mumbled to yourself, and the girl just grinned slightly at your appearance while the shy boy looked at you in confusion. “He's like an annoying tick. He just won't leave me alone. Otherwise, I really wouldn't bother with him! You have to trust me!” you begged her, trying to salvage whatever was left of your image.
And speaking of the devil, it didn't take much longer for Thanos to shout out your name after you said that. “Hey! I told you to stay there, what's so fucking hard to understand?!” he spits out annoyed as he grabs you by the shoulders to shake your body before you can even think of hiding from him. Finally, he noticed the other two next to you. “Who are they?” he asked you as you pushed his hands away.
“I want to be on their team,” you announced.
He looked unbelieving and betrayed. “But you promised me you'd be on Team Thanos!”
“Well, I was clearly lying. So, you'd stop bugging me.”
Thanos looked at you with narrowed eyes before glancing at the two other guys he had recruited along with Nam-guy. “You two - go find another team. Now,” he said simply as he copied your posture and made a counter announcement. “Because we're going to unite our teams. You can't get rid of me so easily, you're staying with me.”
Of course. The player with the number 380 on her chest threw an arm around your shoulder as she looked challengingly at your annoying friend. “And who says that we would want to do that?” she posed the question.
Nam-gyu already knew he didn't like this one. “Hey, who do you think you're talking to -” he started to threaten her, but Thanos put his arm out in front of him before he could go after her.
There was a brief, strange silence as the rapper shifted his gaze between you and the other girl next to you. This girl doesn't look straight, is she interested in…?
Thanos narrowed his eyes as his gaze met yours again and he could feel his muscles tense at the things that were running through his head right now. Number 380 was provoking him with her actions. This shit makes me fucking angry, man. But it only took him maybe a few seconds of imagining the whole thing between you two a bit further to change his mind. Never mind, that's actually pretty hot.
“You're safe as long as the great Thanos protects you, eh? Besides, I doubt you'll find anyone better, there are only two minutes left.” he suddenly spoke out and none of you wanted to know what went on in his head in the short time that he was silent. “Come on, this is going to be fun! Who's the little guy behind you?” he asked and you and number 380 looked at each other reluctantly for a moment before revealing your hidden member.
Nam-guy let out a heavy sigh as his eyes met the loser in front of him but Thanos didn't seem to care much about that. “What's your name?” he asked, watching as the guy looked up at him a little anxiously. “Oh, my name is Min-su…”
Even his name sounds pathetic, Nam-gyu thought to himself and couldn't stop himself from voicing his dissatisfaction. “This guy honestly gives me mad loser vibes, dude…” he complained, but Thanos paid him no mind as he walked towards the member. “Nah, this is perfect - we're the perfect team! Right Nim-su?” he asked the little guy while hugging him more tightly from the side and laughing when he saw his shy reaction. “I like you, you're cute.”
Seeing the two of them together was a really weird view, you honestly felt sorry for Min-su. “I'm sorry about that…” you whispered a little awkwardly to player 380 but she just patted you on the shoulder reassuringly. “Don't worry, how those two behave is not your responsibility. I suppose we're in this thing together now.” she laughed, not sure exactly what to make of this all herself.
You smiled at her before your eyes went to the watch on the wall which showed that you all only had half a minute left before the next game would start. “I mean, I guess so…”

explosions in the curtain aisle

synopsis: you and katsuki (after much convincing) are out to buy decorations for your home.
pairing: timeskip!bakugou katsuki x f!reader

after spending months merging your lives together as a married couple, you and katsuki are finally taking the plunge to decorate your shared home.
excitement bubbles within you as you navigate the aisles, envisioning how each piece could reflect both of your personalities.
“y/n, how long are we gonna be here?” katsuki complains, arms crossed, his usual fiery demeanor dialed down to a low simmer.
he’s standing a few paces behind you, his foot tapping impatiently on the polished wooden floor.
you turn to him with a playful grin. “just a little longer! we need to find the perfect throw pillow. this is important!”
“important?!” he echoes, incredulity lacing his tone. “they all look the damn same! can’t we just grab one and go? it’s a pillow, not a weapon!”
you laugh, enjoying the banter. “but it has to match the couch! you know how colors work.” you gesture toward a vibrant array of pillows, each one seeming to call your name.
katsuki’s eyes narrow, glancing at the colorful display as if it’s the most boring thing he’s ever seen. “you’re the one with the weird taste in colors. I’m just saying, if it’s ugly, I’m throwing it out the window.”
“fine,” you tease, “but if you pick it out, you have to live with it.”
he huffs, but there’s a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. “whatever. just make it quick, or I’m heading to the snack aisle.”
you roll your eyes, knowing that katsuki can be both impatient and stubborn, but you also understand that this shopping trip means more than just picking out a few decorative items.
it’s about creating a home together, a place filled with memories and laughter, and every detail matters.
after a few more minutes of searching, you finally spot a pillow that catches your eye—a rich teal with a textured pattern that perfectly complements your couch.
you pick it up, turning it this way and that, feeling a surge of happiness. “katsuki, look at this one!”
he strides over, feigning disinterest but unable to hide his curiosity. “let me see.” he takes it from your hands, inspecting it with a critical eye. “not bad, I guess.”
you can’t help but beam at his praise, even if it’s gruff. “you really think so?”
“yeah, but if it clashes with my stuff, it’s going in the trash,” he warns, a smirk creeping onto his face.
“promise!” you laugh, nudging him playfully with your shoulder. “I’ll make sure it fits your ‘tough guy’ aesthetic.”
“good,” he replies, but there’s a hint of warmth in his tone. he places the pillow back in your hands and turns to walk away, already scanning for the next item on your list. “now, what’s next? we need some curtains or something.”
you can’t help but feel a rush of affection for him. it’s moments like these—when he pretends to be annoyed yet goes along with your whims—that remind you just how much he cares.
“how about we find some that are a bit more… cozy?” you suggest, your eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
he snorts, shaking his head. “cozy? what are we, grandmas?”
you roll your eyes, laughing softly. “just wait until you see them. you might actually like them!”
katsuki raises an eyebrow. “yeah, right. but I guess I’ll humor you. lead the way.”
you guide him to the next aisle, the soft rustle of fabric creating a comforting ambiance.
you sift through various curtain styles, holding up a set that features a delicate floral pattern. “what do you think about these?”
katsuki glances at them, his expression unreadable. “they’re… fine, I guess. but are they durable? I’m not having some flimsy stuff that’ll tear the first time I brush against it.”
you chuckle at his practicality, appreciating that he wants your home to feel strong and safe, just like him. “they’re made of durable material. plus, they’ll let in a lot of light.”
he tilts his head, still unsure.
you laugh again. “we can always return them if they don’t work out. and just think of how nice they’ll look with the pillow!”
he pretends to consider it seriously, squinting at the curtains as if they hold the key to world peace. “fine, fine. let’s get them.” he then turns to you with a quick glance, “you will not hang them.”
“oh, I don’t mind,” you giggle, as you lean in closer, lowering your voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “you will look so good hanging them up in your ‘tough guy’ way, husband.”
katsuki’s lips twitch, and for a moment, you think you can see the tip of his ears turn a soft shade of pink. “shut up,” he mumbles, though there’s no real irritation behind his words.
with the curtains selected and the throw pillow secured, you both meander through the store, stopping occasionally to admire various decorative pieces.
you find a small potted plant and hold it up, grinning. “what about this? it’ll add some life to the space.”
katsuki raises an eyebrow, eyeing the plant. “you think you can keep it alive? remember that one time with that cactus?”
you wince at the memory, laughing sheepishly. “okay, I admit I’m not great with plants. but this one seems low-maintenance!”
“yeah, sure, but if it dies, I’m blaming you.”
“I’ll take full responsibility!” you promise, huffing. you don’t see your husband’s eyes lookting at you with subtle fondness, while you place the potted plant into the cart.
finally, as you reach the checkout, you feel a sense of accomplishment.
katsuki stands beside you, the small plant in hand while you juggle the curtains and pillow. “not bad for a day’s work,” you say, looking up at him.
he nods, a satisfied grin tugging at the corners of his lips. “yeah, I guess it’s alright.”
as you both head outside, katsuki glances at the bags in your hands, then turns to you, takes the bags, his expression softening in that rare way that only you ever get to see.
“let’s get outta here,” he mutters, running his empty hand hand through his hair. “this shopping crap’s a waste of time.”
you laugh, slipping your hand into his. “you did great, hubby.”
he grumbles, but despite that, he doesn’t let go of your hand, his grip tightening just slightly as you walk together out of the store.
you can’t help but smile at the simple gesture, so you squeeze his hand lightly.
as you approach the car, katsuki pauses, turning to you. “hey,” he starts, looking a bit bashful. “you really love this stuff, don’t you?”
“of course! it’s our home, after all,” you reply.
“then… I guess it’s worth it,” he mutters, scratching the back of his head. “just don’t make me do this every weekend.”
you chuckle, squeezing his hand. “no promises, but I’ll make sure to keep it interesting.”

—You suffer from anemia yet your boyfriends as supportive as ever, just in his own way
დ .•*”Summary: You suffer from anemia but you don’t let it stop you from becoming a hero, yet, your boyfriend’s a stubborn mess and forced you to rest.
༺ღ༒Pairing: Bakugou Katsuki x GN!Anemic!Reader
☆࿐ཽ༵Tags: High school; Relationship; UA; GN!Reader
**•̩̩͙Warnings: Cursing?; Anemia; Overprotective boyfriend
·˚ ༘₊· ͟͟͞͞꒰➳Word count: 3.8k
‧͙⁺˚*・A/N: Someone requested this but it was anonymous and my tumblr was bugging lately! It just got deleted but I still had lots of fun writing this and I hope you’ll have just as much fun reading this! And I didn’t know if they meant headcanons or Scenario so I just did both!

Headcanons: Katsuki Bakugou x GN!Anemic!Reader
1. Worry Masked by Irritation: Bakugou would constantly mask his concern for your condition by pretending to be annoyed. He’d grumble about you being “too weak” but would secretly go above and beyond to ensure you’re healthy.
2. Diet Control Freak: He’d take control of your meals, researching iron-rich foods and sneaking them into your diet. If you tried to resist, he’d shove a plate at you with a snarky remark like, “Eat this before I lose it.”
3. Hyper Awareness: Bakugou would become hyper-aware of your signs of fatigue or dizziness. If you so much as swayed while standing, he’d immediately drag you to sit down.
4. Loud Protector: If anyone dared to tease or question you about your condition, he’d explode (figuratively and maybe literally). “You got something to say?! Say it to me!”
5. Gentle in Private: Though Bakugou is explosive in public, in private, he’d show softer affection. He’d tuck blankets around you, carry you to bed if you overexerted yourself, and grumble softly, “Don’t push yourself, idiot.”
6. Hates Seeing You Weak: Seeing you too tired to get up genuinely unnerves him. He’d pace, bark orders, and eventually sit by your side, silently holding your hand.
7. Acts of Service: Bakugou would do small things like fetching water, helping you stand, or taking on your chores. Of course, he’d act like it’s no big deal. “You’re lucky I’m not a total asshole, huh?”
8. Research Master: He’d secretly learn about anemia from every available resource and even consult Recovery Girl or doctors. He wouldn’t tell you about it, though; he’d just start doing things that showed he knew what he was talking about.
9. Training Adjustment: He’d modify training sessions for you, subtly encouraging you to take breaks without making you feel weak. He might even offer to spar lightly to “keep you on your toes.”
10. Blunt Reassurance: If you ever felt self-conscious about your condition, Bakugou would bluntly shut you down. “You’re not weak. You’re mine, and that’s all that matters.”

Rest is for the Weak (But Not for You)
The morning started like any other. The dorms buzzed with activity as Class 1-A prepared for the day ahead. You had been one of the first to wake, though not because you were particularly eager. A familiar heaviness sat on your chest, and your limbs felt as though they were weighed down by lead.
It was nothing new. This was your normal.
“Y/N, you doing okay?” Mina’s cheerful voice rang out as she caught sight of you rubbing your temples. “You look kinda pale.”
You gave her a small smile, brushing it off. “I’m fine. Just a bit tired.”
“You sure? I can grab you something from the cafeteria real quick if you need it!”
“Thanks, Mina, but I’m good,” you said firmly, not wanting to draw any more attention to yourself.
She hesitated but eventually nodded, skipping off to join the others. As you gathered your things and headed toward the training grounds, you could feel the weight of someone’s gaze on you.
Turning your head, you locked eyes with Bakugou.
He didn’t say anything, but his narrowed eyes and furrowed brow made it clear he’d heard the exchange. You pretended not to notice and hurried to catch up with the others, hoping he wouldn’t press the issue.
_________________________________
The training session was supposed to be routine—a series of combat drills designed to test reflexes and stamina. You had been paired with Midoriya for a sparring match, something that usually wouldn’t faze you.
But today, every movement felt sluggish. Your punches lacked their usual strength, and your dodges were just a fraction too slow. Midoriya, ever the observant one, noticed almost immediately.
“Y/N, are you sure you’re feeling okay?” he asked, concern etched into his face as he blocked one of your weak punches.
“I’m fine,” you insisted, dodging to the side as he retaliated.
But the dizziness was getting worse. Your vision blurred at the edges, and the sound of your own heartbeat roared in your ears.
“Y/N—”
“Stop holding back!” you snapped, cutting him off.
Midoriya flinched but complied, though his hits were clearly pulled. You hated it—hated the pity in his eyes, the way he seemed afraid to fight you properly. You wanted to prove you could keep up, that you weren’t a liability.
And then your knees buckled.
_________________________________
“Oi! What the hell are you doing, Deku?!”
Bakugou’s voice rang out across the gym, loud enough to make everyone pause. You barely registered the sound of his boots stomping across the floor before he was standing between you and Midoriya, his crimson eyes blazing.
“I-It wasn’t his fault—” you started, but Bakugou cut you off with a sharp glare.
“Shut it, dumbass,” he growled before turning back to Midoriya. “What the hell were you thinking, letting them push themselves like that?”
Midoriya opened his mouth to respond but quickly decided against it, his expression shifting to one of resignation.
“And you,” Bakugou snarled, rounding on you. “What the hell were you thinking? You could’ve hurt yourself!”
“I’m fine!” you snapped, trying to push past him.
But Bakugou wasn’t having it. He grabbed your arm—not hard enough to hurt, but firm enough to stop you in your tracks.
“You’re not fine,” he said through gritted teeth. “You’re done. Sit down before you pass out.”
_________________________________
Bakugou practically dragged you to the edge of the gym, ignoring your protests as he deposited you on a bench. The other students watched from a distance, their whispered conversations filling the air.
“Bakugou, you’re overreacting,” you muttered, crossing your arms as he crouched in front of you.
“Overreacting, my ass,” he shot back, his tone sharp. “You’re pale as shit, and you can’t even stand up straight. Don’t lie to me, Y/N.”
You glared at him, but the dizziness made it hard to keep your head up. Bakugou noticed immediately and let out an irritated sigh.
“Tch. Stay here,” he ordered before stomping off.
When he returned a few minutes later, he was carrying a water bottle and a protein bar. He shoved them at you without a word, his scowl deepening when you hesitated.
“Eat. Drink. Now,” he barked.
“Bakugou, I don’t need—”
“Don’t argue with me, dumbass!” he snapped, his voice louder than necessary. “Just do it!”
You flinched but complied, taking small sips of water and nibbling on the protein bar.
________________________________
When the session ended, Bakugou didn’t give you a choice about walking back to the dorms together. He hovered close, his sharp eyes scanning you for any signs of weakness.
“You didn’t have to walk me back,” you muttered, feeling a mix of gratitude and embarrassment.
“Shut up. You’re lucky I didn’t carry your ass,” he shot back.
The two of you walked in silence for a while, the tension between you thick enough to cut with a knife. But as you reached the dorms, Bakugou’s voice softened.
“You need to take care of yourself, Y/N,” he said, his tone uncharacteristically gentle.
You glanced at him, surprised by the shift in his demeanor. “I do take care of myself.”
“Bullshit,” he muttered. “If you did, I wouldn’t have to babysit you all the damn time.”
You opened your mouth to argue, but the exhaustion caught up with you, and you leaned against the wall for support.
Bakugou was at your side in an instant, his hand on your arm as he steadied you.
“See? This is exactly what I’m talking about,” he grumbled. “You’re too damn stubborn for your own good.”
_________________________________
Once inside your room, Bakugou made himself at home, pulling a chair up beside your bed as you sat down.
“You’re not staying,” you said, giving him a tired look.
“Like hell I’m not,” he retorted, crossing his arms. “Someone’s gotta make sure you don’t do something stupid.”
You sighed, leaning back against the pillows. “You’re impossible.”
“And you’re an idiot,” he shot back, though there was no real heat behind his words.
The two of you sat in silence for a while, the tension gradually fading as the weight of the day settled over you. Bakugou’s presence, as much as you hated to admit it, was comforting.
_________________________________
The silence in your dorm room was a strange thing. Bakugou wasn’t one to enjoy stillness, yet here he was, sitting in your chair like he belonged there, arms crossed as he glared at the wall. The occasional sound of his foot tapping against the floor was the only thing breaking the quiet.
“I don’t need a babysitter,” you said finally, unable to take the tension anymore.
“Too bad,” he replied curtly.
You sighed, running a hand through your hair. “You’re seriously overreacting. I just got a little dizzy.”
He turned his sharp gaze on you, the intensity in his crimson eyes making you freeze. “A little dizzy? You couldn’t even finish training without almost eating shit in front of everyone.”
“Thanks for the reminder,” you muttered, looking away.
“I’m not saying it to piss you off, dumbass,” he snapped, leaning forward slightly. “I’m saying it because you’re being reckless.”
You stared at him, surprised by the raw frustration in his voice. Katsuki Bakugou was never one to sugarcoat his words, but there was something different about the way he spoke to you now—like he was genuinely afraid for you.
“I just don’t want to hold anyone back,” you admitted quietly, your voice barely above a whisper.
Bakugou’s expression softened for a moment, though his scowl quickly returned. “You’re not holding anyone back,” he said firmly. “You think I give a crap if you can’t keep up sometimes? You’re not weak, Y/N.”
The words caught you off guard. You’d always thought Bakugou saw weakness as unforgivable, that he’d look down on anyone who couldn’t match his relentless energy. Hearing him say otherwise left you speechless.
“Tch. Don’t look at me like that,” he grumbled, his cheeks tinged with the faintest hint of pink. “I’m just telling the truth. Now shut up and rest.”
_________________________________
Despite Bakugou’s insistence that you stay in bed, word of your condition had spread among your classmates, and it wasn’t long before a few of them came knocking.
“Y/N! Are you okay?” Mina burst into the room, her usual enthusiasm dampened by concern. She carried a small bag of snacks, which she set on your bedside table with a flourish.
“I’m fine, really,” you said, offering her a reassuring smile.
“Yeah, they’re fine,” Bakugou interjected from his seat, his voice dripping with irritation. “Now get out.”
“Bakugou, be nice!” Kirishima appeared behind Mina, giving his friend a pointed look before turning to you. “We just wanted to check on you, Y/N. You scared us a little back there.”
“I didn’t mean to,” you said, guilt creeping into your tone. “I just… overdid it.”
“You think?” Bakugou muttered under his breath.
Kirishima chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. “Well, we’re glad you’re okay. Just take it easy, all right? And don’t let Bakugou boss you around too much.”
“Too late for that,” you joked, earning a glare from Bakugou.
After a few more minutes of chatting, Mina and Kirishima finally left, though not without a promise to check in on you again later. As soon as the door closed, Bakugou let out an irritated huff.
“They don’t know when to leave,” he grumbled.
“They’re just worried,” you said, leaning back against the pillows. “You don’t have to be so rude.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t need a damn audience while I’m trying to take care of you,” he shot back.
You raised an eyebrow. “Trying to take care of me? Is that what this is?”
“Shut up,” he muttered, his cheeks flushing again.
_________________________________
That night, long after Bakugou had begrudgingly left your room, you lay awake, staring at the ceiling. His words from earlier echoed in your mind.
“You’re not weak, Y/N.”
It was such a simple statement, yet it meant more to you than you could explain. For as long as you could remember, you’d been battling the fear that your anemia made you a burden. You hated the idea of being someone others had to take care of.
But Bakugou didn’t see you that way.
You weren’t sure when he’d started paying such close attention to you, but his protectiveness was undeniable. It was infuriating at times, but it also warmed your heart in a way you couldn’t ignore.
_________________________________
When you woke the next morning, the first thing you noticed was the smell of food.
Groggily sitting up, you saw Bakugou standing by your desk, a tray of breakfast in his hands.
“What are you doing?” you asked, your voice still heavy with sleep.
“What’s it look like?” he replied, setting the tray down on your lap. “You’re eating before training today.”
You blinked at him, surprised. “You made this?”
“Don’t sound so shocked,” he grumbled, crossing his arms. “It’s just eggs and toast. Not like I cooked a five-star meal.”
You couldn’t help but smile as you picked up your fork. “Thanks, Bakugou.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he muttered, looking away. “Just don’t make me regret it.”
As you ate, you noticed how he lingered by the door, his usual impatience replaced by something softer.
“Are you gonna watch me the whole time?” you teased.
“Maybe,” he shot back.
_________________________________
Over the next few weeks, Bakugou’s concern for you became an undeniable part of your routine. He started carrying snacks and water bottles with him during training, shoving them at you whenever he thought you looked tired. He adjusted his own training schedule to keep an eye on you, even if it meant sparring with someone else so he could watch from a distance.
And while he never outright said it, his actions spoke volumes.
One day, after a particularly exhausting training session, you found yourself sitting on the edge of the gym, your legs dangling over the side as you tried to catch your breath. Bakugou appeared beside you, handing you a cold water bottle without a word.
“Thanks,” you said, unscrewing the cap and taking a sip.
“Tch. Don’t mention it,” he muttered, sitting down next to you.
The two of you sat in silence for a while, the sounds of the gym fading into the background. It was moments like this that reminded you just how much Bakugou cared, even if he’d never admit it.
“You’re not weak, you know,” he said suddenly, his voice softer than usual.
You turned to look at him, surprised by the sincerity in his tone.
“Thanks, Katsuki,” you said quietly, using his first name for the first time in weeks.
He didn’t say anything, but the faint smile that tugged at his lips was enough.

keigo visits endeavor’s house and meets you, the number one hero’s daughter
after a lot of persuading, keigo finally convinced endeavor to let him come over to his house. he reasoned that they needed to get to know each other better and form a connection so they could become a better duo for people to look up to.
such fucking bullshit. he just said that because he was bored.
but keigo still showed up, of course. he tried to dress casually, but professionally enough so the interaction wasn’t inappropriate. after looking through his large closet for nearly half an hour, he finally decided on his outfit, a black compression shirt and cargo pants, simple enough.
so endeavor picked the young hero up at his agency, the ride was filled with soft conversations.
the number one hero gripped the steering wheel as he drove to his house before grumbling, “i haven’t been home in a long time. i’m not sure if my children are home.”
“ah, it’s fine! i’m sure i’ll be able to converse with them, i’m pretty easygoing, you know? don’t worry about it.” he shrugged it off, “maybe you could introduce me to them if they’re there.”
there was a moment of silence in the car. a moment of hesitation before enji confessed, “that may be difficult. some of my children aren’t too fond of me.”
now keigo was paying attention. his wings softly fluttered, making a few feathers fall with a grumble from the older man. the blonde asked, “oh? why is that?”
but endeavor couldn’t tell him the truth. even if he was a bit annoying, he was one of the people who had shown true interest in him in the past couple of years. he lied through his teeth, “it’s just because i haven’t been around too often.”
“bummer. good thing we’ll get to talk to them then!” the redhead rolled his eyes at keigo’s cheerful demeanor.
before they even knew it, they were at the number one hero’s house. they opened and shut their car doors in less than a second and walked up to the door, where endeavor stepped in front of the young hero and unlocked it. keigo knew endeavor was rich, after all, he was the number one hero, but he never knew he was incredibly rich. the house was simple, a modern japanese house, but it was ginormous.
once the door was unlocked, enji was met face-to-face with his children, who he hadn’t seen in a couple of years. you were missing for a bit, supposedly moving without anyone but your siblings and mom knowing, and natsuo was at college.
the redhead’s eyes widened, “y/n, where were you all those years?” he sent you a slight smile, reaching out to hug you, but you reluctantly shrank away.
“i moved to a different country for a few years and started a whole new life there. i just wanted to see mom and natsuo, and the others.” you paused, looking at the ground.
“the point is, she’s not here for you.” he also paused, fists clenching and eyes blinking, “why is hawks here?”
while your father explained, keigo’s eyes were completely focused on you. the way you wore the tank top and sweatpants so casually, arms crossed against your chest, and the glare you sent your father. occasionally, you would send a small glance toward the blonde, making him smirk before he tried to make it disappear. in his opinion, you were pretty cute, and stubborn, too. he liked that in a woman.
you tilted your head at his staring, “what’s your name?” your curiosity got the better of you.
of course, you learned his hero name was hawks, but you didn’t know much because you isolated yourself from the whole hero situation. as you were living out of the country, you didn’t know much about heroes, as you didn’t want to see many stories on the news about your father. plus, he was pretty handsome. why not shoot your shot?
“it’s keigo. keigo takami.”
a hum escaped your lips, “it’s nice to meet you, keigo.”
his wings fluttered at the sound of your voice saying his name, and he grumbled. you knew what you were doing to him, didn’t you? your sultry eyes looked up and down every part of his body but mostly lingered on his face. he began to feel self-conscious, worried his face would become messed up any second.
you could tell how nervous you were making the blonde. he seemed cocky but almost crumbled under your gaze as soon as you began to send subtle glances his way. he was cute, and his voice was hot as hell. dad probably couldn’t do anything because this could be payback for him treating you and your siblings like shit, so you could practically do whatever you wanted.
after a couple of minutes of natsuo and endeavor arguing, and you and the young hero sending signals to each other just through your eyes, your older brother pulled you away with a tug on your wrist.
he slowly turned to you and raised an eyebrow, “don’t.”
you asked, trying to test your limits, “don’t what?”
“you were basically eye fucking him, y/n! he’s a hero and works with our dad!”
“not worse than what he did to mom though, is it?”
he thought about it for a second, and of course, you were right, “you need to stop pulling that card,” he rolled his eyes.
you paused, hands on your hips, “you know i’ll do it, natsu.” and tried to suppress a chuckle.
nearly an hour later, you and your older brother were hanging out in his room when you walked out, phone in hand, when a glimpse of yellow was in the corner of your eye. you paused in your tracks, staring at the hero in front of you with a blank expression.
he suddenly came up to you and held out his hand, which had a piece of paper in it. it was neatly folded up, but you almost gasped. was it seriously what you thought it was?
once you took it, he sent you a smile and headed toward the bathroom across from your older brother’s room. a small squeal escaped your lips, and you ran back to his bedroom with a smile. you held up the piece of paper in your hand and watched natsuo’s eyes turn from bored to widened.
you opened the paper with him, as you sat on his bed. there, the handwriting read, ‘text me?’ with his number written on the bottom.
oh, your dad was about to be so pissed off.

𝔇eformed 𝔇og
summary: in a strained marriage of political convenience, you and Jacaerys Velaryon are often at odds. But when Jacaerys brings a small creature as a peace offering, something the ladies at court seemed to all enjoy, apart from his stubborn wife.
paring: jacaerys velaryon x reader
The sun had long since dipped beneath the horizon, casting the Red Keep in the soft hues of evening. The large stone walls of your chambers were bathed in the warm glow of flickering candles, but their gentle light did little to soothe the irritation that simmered just beneath your poised exterior. You sat on the edge of a chaise, your hands fidgeting with the intricate embroidery of your gown, your thoughts tangled in the heated exchange from weeks prior.
It wasn’t unusual for you and Jacaerys to argue. From the moment you were wed, it had been clear that your marriage was one of convenience, not affection. You, the daughter of a powerful magistrate from Pentos, had been brought into this foreign land with the expectation of securing an alliance. Jacaerys, heir to the Iron Throne, was burdened with the weight of responsibility and political machinations. Love, in this case, had never been part of the arrangement.
Your differences—cultural, personal, and otherwise—had been apparent from the start. Where you were bold, confident, and unapologetically sassy, Jacaerys was serious, driven by duty, and far too level-headed for your liking. You had been raised in the courts of Pentos, where wealth and power meant indulgence, and you had never been denied anything. The transition to life in Westeros had been jarring, to say the least.
A small sigh escaped your lips as you stared at the fire, the memory of your latest argument still fresh. It had been over something insignificant, as most of your disagreements were, but the wounds it left behind lingered. Jacaerys had tried to apologize, of course, sending flowers and trinkets to your chambers, but you had not been so easily swayed this time. You were stubborn, after all, and you were not one to let him off the hook that easily.
Just then, a knock at the door pulled you from your thoughts. Before you could answer, the door creaked open, and Jacaerys stepped inside. In his arms was the strangest creature you had ever seen—a small, fluffy animal with large eyes and a squashed face. You narrowed your eyes at it, unsure whether it was meant to be some kind of dog or a rabbit.
“Is.. is that some sort of deformed bunny?” You asked, head tilted to the side as you state at the small mutt in the prince's arms.
Jacaerys’ smirk was apparent as he closed the door behind him. “A deformed bunny?” he teased, his voice rich with amusement. “I expected something more creative.”
You huffed and crossed your arms, refusing to meet his gaze. “I still think it looks more like a bunny than a dog,” you muttered, glancing at the animal in his arms. The creature gave a soft whine, wiggling its nose.
“I think you know very well that it’s a dog, and you’re just trying to annoy me,” Jacaerys countered, taking a few steps closer. There was a certain charm to the way he moved—graceful yet deliberate, as if he knew exactly how to play the game of diplomacy, even in your marriage.
When he reached you, he gently lifted the puppy toward you, but his other hand moved to tuck a stray lock of hair behind your ear. The intimate gesture caught you off guard, but you refused to let it show. Instead, you shot him a pointed glare, though your heart stuttered at the sudden closeness.
“Or,” Jacaerys continued, his tone softening slightly, “perhaps there are no small dogs in Essos? You might be unfamiliar.”
You snorted, finally allowing yourself to look at him. “We have dogs in Pentos, Jacaerys. Large, beautiful ones. Not whatever this is,” you motioned to the puppy, though there was no real bite in your words. The creature was, admittedly, quite adorable.
Jacaerys chuckled, setting the puppy down on the chaise beside you. “This is a gift. I thought it might cheer you up since flowers didn’t seem to do the trick.” His voice was sincere now, and though you were still annoyed, you couldn’t help but soften a little at the thought. He was trying, at least.
The puppy immediately wriggled toward you, its tiny paws tapping against the velvet of the chaise. It nuzzled into your side, letting out a soft whimper as if begging for attention. You stared down at it for a moment, then reached out to scratch behind its ears.
“You think this will fix everything?” you asked, though your voice lacked its usual sharpness.
Jacaerys sighed, his smirk fading into a more serious expression. “No. I know it won’t. But I don’t like it when you’re angry with me.”
For a moment, you didn’t respond. The room was quiet except for the crackling of the fire and the soft sounds of the puppy. Your fingers continued to pet the small creature, and your eyes focused on the flames as you mulled over his words.
“I don’t like being angry with you either,” you admitted quietly, though the words felt foreign on your tongue. It wasn’t easy to admit vulnerability, especially not with him.
Jacaerys knelt in front of you, his brown eyes searching yours. “Then let’s stop fighting like this. I know we’ll never agree on everything, but I don’t want to spend our marriage at odds. We’re supposed to be a team, aren’t we?”
You raised an eyebrow, still hesitant to let go of your stubbornness completely. “A team?”
He nodded. “Yes. I know our marriage wasn’t exactly our choice, but that doesn’t mean it has to be miserable.”
For the first time in weeks, you felt a flicker of something other than frustration toward him. Perhaps it was the honesty in his voice or the way he looked at you now, as if he truly wanted to bridge the gap between you.
With a sigh, you finally relented. “Fine,” you muttered, though a small smile tugged at the corners of your lips. “But next time, don’t bring me a deformed rabbit.”
Jacaerys grinned, his eyes lighting up at the sight of your smile. “I’ll make a note of that.”
You reached for the puppy, lifting it into your lap as it licked your hand eagerly. “What is its name?” you asked, your tone now more playful.
“I thought I’d let you name it,” he replied, standing and moving to sit beside you on the chaise.
You hummed, considering for a moment. “How about... Bunny?”
Jacaerys groaned, though there was a laugh in his voice. “Of course you would.”
For the first time in what felt like forever, the tension between you eased, replaced by a sense of camaraderie. You still had your differences, and you probably always would. But at that moment, with the puppy—Bunny—in your lap and Jacaerys beside you, the future didn’t seem so daunting. Maybe, just maybe, this marriage could become something more than just an arrangement.

Bake Sale
John Price x wife!reader OC
Summary: John Price and Simon Riley accidentally find out their wives have met.
Warnings: Sexual themes, swearing, not edited.
Authors note: I loved writing this because the contrasts between Dove and Indy are finally on display. The eggo waffles are a complete self insert and if I lived in the UK I’d find a way to get them.
——————
“Lookin’ smart.” John’s raspy deep voice bellowed through the morning air as he caught sight of his son.
“You say that every morning.” Jj grumbled as he went to go sit at the kitchen table only to see there was no breakfast or you cooking in sight.
The young boy now ten was dressed in his new school uniform. He was in khaki trousers, a navy blue blazer with the school insignia, a white button up underneath, a maroon tie, and black loafers. Jj hated it, saying it made him feel like a ‘stuck up rich kid.’ You and John made good money but it went a lot faster than you two liked, leaving you far from ‘rich’ or ‘stuck up.’
You two were still paying off your mortgage and the monthly bills only seemed to grow more and more expensive as time passed and your family grew. Between all the sports and activities your children did you had to pay for daycare and now private school. That was on top of financially supporting your retired father. He brought in some money from the summer home he owned back in the states but it wasn’t enough to live on. So you and John supplemented his lack luster life style as a way to repay him for being a single father to you. It was also a promise you made to him before you left for university. Telling him you’d make enough money one day that neither of you would have to worry again. You always wanted to give him more but the stubborn man refused it, telling you it was your hard work and to spend it on the kids. Because if you forced him to take it he’d be spending it on his grandchildren anyway.
“No breakfast?” Jj looked at his father who was standing in front of the toaster.
John was dressed in blue jeans and a red crewneck with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His hair was still damp from his morning shower and facial hair neatly groomed. The sound of a metal pop shot three speckled waffles up from the shiny silver four slot toaster.
“Here.” John spoke as he took a bite of one of the golden once frozen waffles and threw the second in his son’s direction. Jj caught it with both hands and scowled down at it.
“Why do you always choose blueberry.” Jj grumbled before taking a bite and moving to grab a piece of fruit from the bowl in the center of the kitchen island.
“Blueberries the best flavor.” John spoke confidently as he popped in another set of three waffles. The last slot on the toaster never worked well so it was avoided by both you and John.
“Not true, chocolates the best.” Evelyn’s bright voice joined the conversation as she slid into the kitchen on her socked feet.
Without warning John threw the third waffle like a frisbee at his middle child who swiftly caught it in one hand. She was a very coordinated little girl who made most physical activities look easy, because they were for her. It annoyed her brother immensely who had inherited your clumsiness. She happily chomped down on the crispy waffles and joined Jj in picking out their preferred fruit for breakfast. Jj grabbed a banana while Evelyn snagged the last orange.
“Wrong! The right answer is the French toast sticks.” Jj chimed getting an approving hum from both his sister and father.
“You can thank your mum for somehow getting these here.” John handed out the next batch of waffles which were quickly eaten.
“You can actually thank your grandpa cuz he’s the one who gets them.” Your sweet voice joined in as you rounded the corner and entered the kitchen.
John’s already cheery mood only intensified at the sight of you. He thought you were the most gorgeous woman to grace his presence each and everyday he laid eyes on you.
“Why?” Evelyn asked with her head cocked to the side.
“Because your mum grew up on these and still to this day loves them.” John informed the little girl as he handed you your preferred flavor which everyone in the house knew was off limits.
“You’re spoiling all of us, breaking these out.” You waved your favorite Eggo toaster product in John’s face and took a bite.
“These are for special occasions.” You added before holding the food in your mouth while you fixed yourself a cup of coffee.
John crowed into your space, his chest lightly bumping into your back. His strong muscular arms were hovering around you as he poured your milk into the mug and the left a kiss to your cheek that lasted a second longer than usual. His sweetness had you wondering if you forgot today was a special day or something. Taking the morning treat out of your mouth you placed it on the white marble counter.
“Happy birth-iversary?” You spoke in a hesitant tone and looked up and over your shoulder into John’s cool blue eyes. His body was so close to you with only a centimeter separating you as his warmth radiated off of him and heated your skin. You could smell his woodsy cologne and after shave making your hair stand on end. It was all suffocating and had you craving to bury yourself in its intoxicating glow.
“It’s the day I asked you to be my girlfriend.” John spoke softly with past memories dancing in his eyes. It amazed you how he remembered a date from years ago that seemed insignificant now.
“Happy day you pulled your head out of your ass.” Your retorted with a cheeky smile. John chuckled deeply before kissing your temple and turning back to your children.
“Wait you were daddy’s girlfriend?” Evelyn asked having clearly overheard you.
“What do you mean?” John asked, amused and perplexed his daughter didn’t realize you two dated.
“Mums your wife. Hasn’t she always been?” The gears were turning in both your kids heads as they contemplated this concept. Even Jj was confused having never thought about his mom and dad not being parents.
“She started as a ‘friend’.” John gave you a cheeky wink alluding to the fact you started as friends with benefits. You two would never tell your children that, even when they were all grown up it would be something you and John kept between yourselves.
“Then became my girlfriend, and after that she became my wife.” It wasn’t something John realized needed explaining. It was the simple progression to romantic relationships but his children had never thought about it.
“Cuz you asked her?” Jj stared at John waiting for a response.
“Yes, because I asked her and she said yes.” With a smile John wrapped his arm around you and tucked you under his burly arm. With a squeeze and kiss to the top of your head you smiled widely into your coffee mug.
“Then you had sex and made Jj? Because only mummy’s and daddy’s do that.” Evelyn’s dry question had you sputtering into your coffee and John sucking in a shocked breath until the point he started coughing.
John asked that you make it crystal clear in your birds and bees talk with Evelyn that you tell her it’s after two people are married. He had done the same for Jj as he felt it important to. Now did he practice this in his own adult life? No. But he didn’t care. No one was putting their hands on his daughter even after marriage if he anything to do with it. John often told you Evelyn would become a nun which usually got a massive eye roll from you.
“EVIE!! EW!!” Jj shouted at his little sister.
“What!? That’s how babies are made! That’s how Lily got made, what makes you any different!?” Evelyn shrieked right back. Sharing a look you and John both silently decided to not get involved in this. It was too early in the morning.
“Yes, then there was the honeymoon where we made your brother.” You mumbled for only John to hear. The cheeky response had him chuckling as his mind was flooded with the memories of those days spent wrapped up in one another.
“Okay, enough of that talk. Evie come with me, I’m taking you to school. Jj you’re with mum and help her bring the pies for the bake sale.” With a clap of John’s hands everyone dispersed and were off to their commitments of the day. There were a few sharp verbal jabs between Jj and Evelyn that were ignored.
“Wait! Where’s Lily?”
“Daycare.”
——————
“Mrs. Price, it’s nice of you to join us!”
“Happy to be here.” You smiled brightly at the head master passing by. You looked around the room of other parents and felt a sense of nervousness and anxiety creep up your spine.
You had just dropped your son off at his classroom and made your way down here to where school events were normally held. Jj brushed you off when the kids in his classroom caught sight of you, barely giving you a goodbye. But thirty seconds before that when no one could see him he had given you a hug and told you he loved you. So you knew he was just trying to act cool which you found adorable. It was very similar to how his father acted when you visited base. As long as no one could see he’d be as sweet as pie but then pretend he hardly knew you in front of others.
Today was your first bake sale at your son’s new school. He had been bullied out of his last one and you and John had decided private school would be a better fit. It would be stretching your budget in a way you hadn’t prepared for and had left you and John with deep rooted anxiety. Neither of you grew up with money and you could spiral in moments like this. You knew you could swing it but felt that maybe you should be sending all your kids to private school which would cost a small fortune.
It was intimidating coming into a new school and meeting the other involved parents. At Jj’s last school it went well for the most part except there were a few dads both married and single who fancied you. You were hoping to blend in this time and stick to making female friends as your own form of self preservation.
John had joked you should show up in sweats and his hoodie as a deterrent but that wasn’t going to happen when you had to get to work after this. You were dressed in black slacks, a nice grey fitted long sleeve, black booted heels, with a maroon rain coat that hung open. You had thrown your hair into a braid and done subtle makeup for work. In the large bags you carried, you had the desserts you prepared, for what now seemed to be a daunting bake sale.
The rectangular room you had entered was what looked to be a large function hall. The floors were hardwood and the grand windows that lined the wall had large maroon drapes. There were tables lining the walls, that stopped halfway into the room, covered in nice white table clothes with different baked goods. There were even little silver stands in front of the goodies with the name of the dessert, the person who had baked it, and year their children were in.
On the other half of the hall were children’s activities like face paint, bingo, board games and more. The last school was a sorry excuse compared to this. They had actual activities here for the kids instead of letting them run wild. You glanced around the room that was still preparing to open its doors for the sale this evening.
“You look lost.” A sweet voice came from a few yards away.
Turning you saw a very attractive woman with a charming smile and natural confidence that radiated off of her. She was dressed in jeans, rain boots, and a pretty lavender sweater.
“Yeah, my son just started here so it’s our first bake sale.” You smiled politely, thankful someone who you assumed to be another parent was here to help you.
“I’m Dove, my two oldest go here.” With an outstretched hand you happily shook hands with who you would hope to be your first friend here.
“Oldest! I thought my husband and I were the only ones brave enough these days to have more than two.” You playfully joked.
You were finding it less and less common to come across big families. But it made sense you had one. John was one of four and if things hadn’t gone poorly for your health with Lily you and John both knew you would have had one more.
“We’re so brave we’re thinking about trying for a fourth.” Dove grinned, rolling with your infectious playful nature.
She loved knowing there was another big family at this school of mainly only children. It would also be nice if you were down to earth so her daughters could hopefully have some friends who weren’t stuck up. She didn’t make the most money so it cost every penny to send the girls here and some snobs avoided her due to her financial situation. She couldn’t do big fancy holidays and trips abroad multiple times a year like most families here could.
“That’s so exciting, four is a great number! My husband and I have three and our youngest is so much younger than her siblings we sometimes think she needs a sibling close in age.” It was wonderful to be hitting it off with another mom. It felt like small talk was taboo at times here so this was refreshing.
“Yeah, we’ve got three girls. Mel is 12, Fae’s 6, Grace 4. The age gap is actually amazing. My oldest adores her little sisters.” She seemed so proud to rattle off her kids names and ages, it made you instantly like her.
A lot of parents you met sounded annoyed about their children but Dove seemed proud. She was reassuring you that three was a good number and an age gap wasn’t enough to keep siblings from being close.
“Your husband’s good a cranking out girls.” You hoped the crude joke landed well and it did.
Dove loudly snorted and then laughed, she loved a good naughty joke. For her it was hilarious because she knew if Simon were here to hear someone say that he’d have some choice words. She also instantly liked you. You were charming and friendly unlike a lot of the parents Dove had the misfortune of meeting here. There were so many snobs and you didn’t come across that way at all. The only thing odd about you was the fact you were the only American amongst the entire school.
“He’d crank out a lot more if I let him. How old are yours?” Dove was still lightly laughing as she asked about your own children.
“Preachin’ to the choir. Jj’s 10, then theres Evie, she’s 8. Our youngest Lily is two.” You shared.
“Your daughter doesn’t go here?” Dove asked a bit surprised to hear only one of your children were in private school.
“No, I think she’d freak out if we moved her to private school away from her friends. We would never hear the end of it.” You laughed awkwardly trying to not make your daughter sound like she was as much trouble as she truly was. You also hoped it didn’t make you look bad to only put one child in private school, like you were playing favorites.
“Fae was like that. Lost her shit. Caused so much trouble at home and in class, so I understand where you’re coming from.” The lighthearted tone Dove used did not reflect the chaos her daughter caused. It almost wound up with Fae expelled and Simon about lost his mind and that set her straight. It usually took Simon shouting his head off for Fae to fall in line to Doves absolute dismay.
“That’s what we’re trying to avoid with Evie. She can be intense sometimes.” You laughed awkwardly thinking back to Evelyn threatening you and John about switching her school. She told John she’d never speak to him again and then told you she’d get into so much trouble they’d kick her out. It didn’t end well. John and Evelyn got into a massive fight that ended with Evelyn eating dinner in her room and John gettin side eyed by you all dinner.
“And your youngest? Plan on sending her to private school?” Dove asked. She was curious if that was in the cards because it was incredibly expensive to do so. She spent almost all of their money on schooling for her kids and part of her hoped you’d let slip it’s expensive. That way she could have a fellow parent she could finally relate to.
“Probably, she’s still so little though.” You smiled politely.
“Oops baby?” Dove playfully asked.
“Yup, we can blame my husband for that one.” You snickered.
“I think we can blame a lot more on our husbands if we try.” She whispered giving you a playful nudge with her elbow.
“Sounds like a plan.” With a laugh Dove nodded with her head towards the tables covered in baked goods.
“Let me show you where you can put those. They have everything sectioned off by year. I’m over here so yours can go next to mine actually.” Dove waved you to follow her and you did.
She tapped her finger in front of what she brought on the table next to what would be your son’s class year. You looked to see what her last name was so you could keep an eye out for it down the line. In pretty cursive handwriting it read Meadows and she had made cake pops.
“Awesome, where do I get one of those labels?” You asked looking around.
“I’ll grab you one wait here.” Dove walked off to go grab a little silver stand and white card.
You couldn’t help but look over the purple and orange cake pops with circular silver sprinkles. They looked a mess which was actually endearing because you assumed her kids had decorated them. The color choice also screamed ‘Halloween’ which was a bit odd this early in the year.
“Here.” Giving you a kind smile Dove handed you the placard and card.
“Thanks.” Smiling politely you placed the bag you were carrying on the table and fished out your baked goods.
You were new here so you put in way too much effort to impress. John didn’t complain what so ever as you gave him all the rejected sweets and he ate them while you decorated. You had made mini apple pies with delicate lattice work and a perfect swirl of homemade whipped cream in the center of each. You had decorated them with a piece of flat hardened caramel beautifully stuck into the whipped cream. It made the humble apple pie appear elegant.
Living in the UK desserts like good old fashion American apple pie were hard to find. So you thought this would be a good way to show that your son was half American while also getting to show off. John told you that you needed to lighten up and stop being a perfectionist and over achiever; but you couldn’t help it.
“Holy shit, you can bake.” Dove scoffed and then looked at her pitiful cake pops she spent so much time decorating.
It looked like she let her kids at them instead of a fully grown adult. She sighed defeatedly realizing this would be the second bake sale no one bought her treats, especially because they’d be sitting next to yours. People always bought Simons which drove her mad. At the very least she knew they tasted good.
“Been a hobby for a while. My sister in law owns a bakery and taught me how to bake and decorate desserts so I kinda have a leg up.” You tried to play it off but you were eating up the compliment.
Internally celebrating Eloise, your sister in law, for the countless baking lessons when you first married John. You were a self taught cook but baking did not come easy and you’d honed those skills through the years. John never once complained besides that you were making him gain weight.
“Wish cooking or baking could be a hobby of mine. I leave my husband to do most of that stuff. But he’s busy with work so I made his damn cake pops instead.” Dove felt a little embarrassed at her craftsmanship especially when it was sitting next to yours.
You tried to keep a straight face now hearing that Dove had decorated these and not her kids. It honestly wasn’t that bad, it was the same thing as if John asked you to do any outside project. You weren’t even sure you could hold a hammer the right way without hurting yourself or others. So you knew there had to be something Dove could out do you in. Little did you know it was mostly everything you were horrible at because of your clumsiness while Dove could fix a damn helicopter engine if needed.
“Wish my husband cooked. He orders takeaway whenever it’s his turn to do dinner.” You mumbled.
John was completely inept in the kitchen. He had always been but at someone point you had taken over the cooking completely because you were tired of the toss up between burnt or raw food. He made a great simple breakfast you could give him that.
“Guess I’m spoiled then! My husband isn’t an amazing cook but he’s got a few recipes up his sleeve. He’s actually got this one from his bosses wife for lasagna that’s to die for!” Dove could eat that lasagna every night if Simon made it.
Little did either of you know the recipe she had mentioned was actually your own. You had never given it to Simon but he sneakily took a picture of it from your recipe book when he was alone in your kitchen. He had actually stollen a few of your recipes because he was too proud to ask for them.
“That’s one of my kids favorites!” You laughed as you wrote down your last name, dessert name and placed the card into its holder in front of your display of 40 mini apple pies.
“Price.” Dove hummed, head cocking to the side.
Her mind instantly shot to Captain John Price, a man she had served with. But the odds of this being the same Price was slim, it was a common last name. Dove would know if Price had a kid at this school, John would have mentioned it when he last stopped by to have a drink with Simon.
“Well, thanks so much Dove! I gotta get going I have work.” You smiled politely and gave a nod.
“Of course. Where do you work?” Dove knew John Price’s wife worked at some fancy institution for scientists. Her name was also not Indy so she assumed you couldn’t be who she thought you were. Price commonly called you ‘so smart she’s scary’ so Dove always assumed his wife did some mind boggling research. This would let her know if you were in fact the Price you could be.
“A museum.” You smiled.
Nope, not Price’s wife, Dove concluded. The name didn’t match up or the profession. But still it itched at the back of her mind.
“That’s interesting! I do some boring office job that pays the bills.” Dove shrugged giving you the answer to the question she knew was coming.
“Better than what my husband does. But I do have to get going. It was nice meeting you.”
“Nice to meet you too Indy!”
——————
“What?” John asked choking on his beer.
You two were standing in the kitchen having a chat and sharing a drink. John was on his second beer and you were just pouring your second glass of wine. The two of you had been so busy this was your first real chance to catch up on each others day.
“Mel Meadows? She’s two years older than Jj I didn’t know if he ever mentioned her to you.” You looked back at your husband confused by the strong reaction.
“Uh, no I don’t think Jj’s mentioned anyone with that name.” John felt shell shocked to hear Melody’s name come out of your mouth. She was Doves oldest that Simon had adopted and taken in as his own.
“Yeah met her mum today. Her names Dove, shes pretty cool I could see us being friends. Kicking myself for not getting her number.” Turning you swore your husband was starting to turn red as if he were holding his breath.
“What is going on with you?” You asked John who was doing a horrible job at keeping a poker face.
John was floored that he didn’t realize his son was now attending the same private school as Simon Riley’s kids. He couldn’t tell you that was Simon’s wife you met or that ‘Dove’ was actually a nickname he himself had coined back for her when they served together. Part of John wanted to tell you because he admired Dove greatly and got along with her amazingly well. Besides you she was capable of getting him to goof around which was why John knew all of her children so well. John had promised Simon to never tell anyone about his family life; you included. The only reason John was so involved with Simon’s kids was because of Dove. She’d looked up to John while they served together and the two trusted each other like he did the other members of 141. It felt like second nature to her to have a man like John as an Uncle for her kids since her and Simon didn’t have any living siblings.
“I thought you said Melissa Meadows.” John lied. He chose a lie with a bit of truth in it so you wouldn’t catch on.
“Who’s that?” You asked completely falling for John’s fib.
“A girl I dated before I met you.” It was the truth that John dated a woman named Melissa Meadows but she had nothing to do with the situation.
“You? Dating? Thought you just fucked around.” You joked at your husband expense.
“You weren’t a saint yourself.” John shot back. You gave him a kiss to his cheek while he grabbed a handful of your ass.
The two of you both snickered having left the hurt and insecurities of your younger selves behind long ago. It was something you could both playfully job at the other for because no matter who came before it was you two now and had been for over a decade.
The sound of someone pulling up your drive way caught your attention. Looking out the window on the side of your house you saw Simons large black truck pulling onto the makeshift parking spot in the grass of your yard.
“Simons here.” You looked back at John confused.
“Yeah, did I not tell you he was stopping by?” Again, John lied and you were none the wiser.
“I think I would remember if Simon was coming over. I would’ve cooked him something.” With a raised eyebrow you looked at John, your eyes picking him apart. He never surprised you with guests he normally told you days in advance.
“I must’ve forgotten. I’m sorry, darling.” John was already making his way toward you. Giving you a quick peck to the lips he opened the fridge and grabbed another glass beer bottle. Using his wedding band he popped the top off.
“I can make something quick. There’s leftover steak so I’ll do cheese steak subs?” You asked already rummaging through your pantry.
“That’s perfect. Thank you.” John gave you a swift swat to the ass seeing you bent over searching for something in the pantry. He paused for a second actually mulling over what you said. Yes, he had already eaten dinner but it had been ages since you made something as indulgent as what he thought was the staple American sandwich. (It wasn’t)
“Make me one too please.” John added before grabbing his own beer off the kitchen island then swiftly slid on his sneakers and made his way out onto the back patio.
“Simon.” John nodded and with an outstretched arm offering him the freshly opened beer.
“Our wives met.” Simon spoke matter of factly. He grabbed the beer and drank half of it in one go his large Adams apple bobbing in the patio light.
“Just found out.” John sighed, taking a swig of his almost empty beer.
“You tell her?” It was obvious how irritated Ghost was and just the idea of John saying he did pissed him off. Simon had become so agitated at this discovery he came straight over.
“No. She has no clue. But she’s smart she’ll figure it out the next time they bump into each other.” John knew there was no more keeping you and Dove apart. It had come time where you found out Simon Riley was married with three kids. Quite frankly he was astounded it had been successfully kept form you this long.
“Fuck.” Simon breathed out.
“Don’t know how Dove didn’t put two and two together, she’s quick as a whip. She knows Y/N name it’s not like I don’t mention her.” John was truly confused as he knew Dove as an observant woman who tended to pick up on the smallest details.
“Y/N introduced herself as Indy. Dove, said she thought for a second she met the infamous Mrs. Price at a bake sale today but she had a different first name. Also said the reason she knew it wasn’t her was because this woman worked at a museum not some institute.” Simon purposefully left out the part where Dove really thought for a second she’d met Price’s wife because you were ‘hot.’
“Who would’ve thought the career change would have saved your ass.” John joked.
“Piss off. Dove also said she was too pretty for an old man like you.” Simon snapped. It was more out of frustration that this could no longer be avoided. He knew his wife would be all over you and scolding Simon for being a ‘control freak.’
Dove in fact did not say that. She told Simon that you seemed like Price’s type but there was no way he’d end up with an American. Dove commented on how beautiful she found this new mom at their kids school. And in typical fashion going as far to tell Simon he might have some competition and saying you should be the one to ‘knock her up.’ The internal war that raged inside him that his wife was crushing on Price’s wife was volatile. The woman, that drove him mad and he found completely and utterly invasive was catching the eye of Simons very own wife.
“No she didn’t.” John saw right through the lie meant to hurt his ego.
John knew Dove thought highly of him and would never take a cheap shot like that. That was more Simon. Plus John had mentioned how absolutely gorgeous you are to Dove once or twice. She liked to joke that of course Price needed a hot wife, he was allowed more than just his cigars as a vice. Whenever Dove asked Simon if you were as pretty as Price said he would always call you insufferable and not give her a straight answer. To Dove that meant you had to be gorgeous.
“We should tell them.” John pushed.
Simon had tried to keep his family private from you. But to John he saw it as such sad outcome. Knowing you, you would shower his kids with love and affection and be a lovely asset to the Riley family. John already knew if you found out tonight the woman you met was Simons wife you would be sending him home with some sweet gesture and invitation for dinner.
“Fine.” Simon grunted and followed Price inside. John was surprised at how easy Ghost submitted to the idea but it was clear to both men there was no more avoiding this. Better to rip the bandaid off.
“Hey, Simon. Hungry?” You spoke sweetly seeing the hulking man enter your home. No matter how many times you saw him it still astounded you how much space he took up. He looked angry like usual but he seemed more on edge than you were use to.
Jj had come running for the kitchen when he smelled what you were making. He was sitting at the kitchen island eating his steak and cheese sub and kicking his feet happily in his chair. Simons foul mood faltered for a second at the smell of steak and seeing a large sub sandwich he’d never tried before.
“What is it?” Simon asked. Approaching the island he looked down and saw a sub with cheese melted over steak and a bowl of peppers and onions sitting next to it.
“Philly cheese steak. You can add peppers and onion is you want.” You smiled and handed John his own.
John didn’t hesitate to dig in. It was his second dinner but he always had room for more. He would just have to go on an extra long run and hit the gym twice as hard this week.
“So do you know her?” You asked your son picking up the conversation where you two left off.
“Yeah, she’s two years older than me. All the boys like her cuz she’s pretty.” Jj paused to take another bite before speaking again.
“She’s the one who gave me a tour my first day. That’s all I know.” Jj seemed more concerned about his food than the conversation.
“Pretty?” You giggled as you asked. Your son thinking a girl was pretty was the cutest thing to you because he was still young and innocent.
“Yeah, she’s got pretty green eyes and she’s really funny.” Jj seemed a little stary eyed as he spoke.
“Who?” Simons spidey senses were tingling and he was on guard about who Jj might be talking about.
John stopped mid chew and stared blankly at his son. This wasn’t good. No man like Simon or himself wanted to hear from anyone else’s son how pretty their daughter was. Even if it was true it was instantly uncomfortable and had a father feeling protective.
“Mel Meadows. This girl at my new school.” Jj spoke as he normally did to Simon not realizing the land mine he’d just stepped on.
“Stay away from her!” Simon barked. Jj jumped and so did you at the sudden outburst.
“Easy there.” Johns voice dropped to its lowest octave as he warned Ghost. He understood what Simon was feeling but Jj hadn’t done anything wrong and John wasn’t about to allow someone to reprimand his son in front of him.
“Watch it!” Your voice was stern and you whipped around to death stare Simon. John swore he could see fire bursting from your eyes and he was sure in that moment you’d berate Simon before John got the chance.
No one was allowed to bark at your son like that, not you, not your husband, and especially not Simon. Simon and your eyes met and John felt as if lightning struck as you both shared volatile stares. The tension between you and Ghost was electric. You didn’t find him scary and you might lose but you’d still attempt to kick his ass or better yet get John to do it for you.
“Mel’s my daughter.” Simon spoke through gritted teeth.
The anger you felt evaporated and confusion washed over your face. You blinked a few times mind going completely blank. That meant that Dove, and Simon were-
“So that means Fae is too?! Why do they have different last names?” Jj asked his prior fear fading away after his parents so quickly jumped to his defense. Simon decided he’d ignore the last name question as that was a different can of worms.
“You. Simon Riley. Are. . . Married?” The disbelief was evident on your face and in your voice. Simon found it offensive which added to the irritation.
Never in your wildest dreams would you have guessed this. The man you saw as rude, crude, and unpleasant was married. What was even more confusing was he was married to Dove, the woman you met this morning. It didn’t make sense for you. She was pleasant, funny, charming, and drop dead gorgeous. You couldn’t wrap your head around them being a couple.
“Yes.” Simon still seemed pissed off.
“So, Dove. She’s your wife?” You asked the same question in different words, feeling completely blindsided. Your son also had a point, the name written down at the bake sale wasn’t Riley, it was Meadows. You were assuming that must be Dove’s maiden name. But why give it to only one of their girls?
“Yes.” Another curt one word response.
“Three daughters?” You asked trying to gather your thoughts.
“Yes.” Simon was giving you nothing and you found it infuriating.
“And you’re trying for a fourth?” You asked trying to get a rise out of the man. It was your own shot at him for being an ass to your son. Simons nostrils flared and he looked like he was ready to start smashing things. (more than just his wife)
John had been eating this entire time watching everything unfold. His eyebrows shot up hearing about Dove wanting another baby, that was something he didn’t even know. Yet of course his darling wife had somehow found out which wasn’t too surprising to John.
“God damn it, dove.” Simon looked down at his plate completely frustrated by his wife’s big mouth. The fact that you of all people knew he and his wife were trying for a baby only proved why he called you invasive.
“Like a baby?” Jj asked wide eyed.
It made John chuckle as his son intently stared him in the eyes and then mouthed the word ‘sex?’ John shrugged and tossed his hands up. It was a call back to their conversation that very morning. He found it hysterical his boy made that leap of logic and felt it necessary to confirm with John.
“You cook!? And bake!?” That seemed to hit you the hardest.
For some reason it never occurred to you Simon cooked for himself, you assumed he lived off takeaway like John would. Having a wife and kids was shocking but knowing he cooked and baked for his entire family for some reason had you floored. Imaging the big intimidating Ghost in an apron and oven mitts made him a lot less scary. Part of you felt as if he would be to proud to use oven mitts and would use his bare hands to pull things from the oven. You knew this wasn’t possible, but again, Simon using oven mitts was not something you could envision.
“Someone has to.” Simon spoke begrudgingly.
“Do you-“
“Enough with the questions.” Simon barked at you. John cast a sharp look in his direction that had Ghosts temper simmering.
“Fine, a few more then I’m leaving.” Simon grumbled not willing to piss off Price.
The man was a force to be reckoned with and Simon couldn’t deny that. The last thing he wanted was for Price to fly off the handle because he was defending his wife. It would most likely wind up with Price beating him with one of the stools at the kitchen island if he continued to be disrespectful.
“Why not tell us? I would’ve been getting your kids gifts for holidays and their birthdays. Could’ve helped send meals to Dove or had them over while you and John are deployed. Ya know support each other as military wives should.” Your response had Simon stiffening.
He hadn’t thought about it that way. He had only thought about the negatives you would bring. Of course you would have done anything in your power to be sweet to his wife and kids. Part of him felt guilty for depriving them of that for so long considering he had no family and Doves wasn’t large either.
“Same reasons Price keeps it to himself.” You cast a sympathetic look to your husband thinking he too was just finding out this information. That’s why he was staying so quiet and letting you ask the questions and he’d ask his own later.
“Fair enough.” You mumbled before asking your next question.
“Can I send you home with a pie? I just baked it, so it’s fresh.” You pointed to the cherry pie sitting on your kitchen counter near the pantry and in front of a slightly ajar window where it had sat to cool.
“Oi, you made that for me!” John looked like you had stollen from him. His jaw was dropped and you had to admit his anger was pretty cute on his mutton chopped face; especially with crumbs in his beard and a smudge of cheese on his chin.
“Settle down I can make another.” You playfully scoffed before grabbing a napkin and trying to clean your husband’s messy face.
John snatched the napkin and did it himself. He was throughly disappointed he couldn’t have a slice of pie before bed tonight. Although with the amount of food he was consuming he should probably skip it.
“I’ll take the pie.” Simon mumbled around his food as he began to house the sub sandwich.
Jj watched in awe as Ghost inhaled the food at an inhuman rate. His eyes kept glancing between the other half of his sub and Simon, wondering how the man fit so much food in his mouth. Once Jj looked to his father John pointed at Jj’s food and mouthed ‘are you going to finish that?’ Shaking his head ‘no’ Jj slid hit plate across the kitchen island and John happily dug in.
You had been busy packaging up the pie for Simon to take home. You had grabbed a little white card from the desk in the corner of the kitchen and began to write a note for Dove. It wasn’t anything but an invitation to come for dinner and your phone number to get in touch.
“So do the girls embrace the whole Ghost persona or does it frighten them?” You asked, back turned and taping the note to the top of the plastic covered pie.
“Embrace it. I’m the best at chasing off monsters in the closet.” The decision to share came unexpectedly to not only you and but also Simon.
Maybe he did like your questions. He adored his little girls and could talk about them endlessly to his wife because he knew she legitimately cared. Deep down Simon knew you genuinely cared too so maybe that’s why it felt good and easy to tell you about his little girls.
“How did you and Dove meet?” Part of you felt that the questions were becoming a lot but you couldn’t help yourself.
“She was a helicopter pilot. Saved me and Price countless times. Was a pain in my ass back then and still is today.” Simon spoke with his mouth full.
“Wait! You knew, John!?” You turned to your husband so fast he choked on his food.
“Why. Didn’t. You. Tell. Me.” You took a near by oven mitt and hit John on the shoulder with it on every word. He watched you throw your mini tantrum being somewhat scared of your strong reaction.
“‘Course I knew! Couldn’t tell you tho!” John frantically defended himself with a mouth full of food. That’s the look you gave him before you told him to sleep on the couch.
“We have so many birthdays to make up for!” You hissed at John.
John’s defensiveness faded fast and was replaced by a warmth in his chest that was spreading throughout his body. Of course that’s what you were concerned about. Showing up for people was such an important thing for you. Taking the time and putting in the effort with no thanks expected was how you showed love. Even not knowing Simons children or even his wife for more than a few minutes you cared about Simon enough to want to show up for his family. And that was one of the reasons John adored you so much.
“I get them birthday and Christmas present don’t you worry.” Running his hand down your back John smiled at you softly hoping you would settle down.
“Oh god! You probably showed up with toy guns or slingshots!” Your guesses were spot on. John had absolutely bought both of those things for the girls.
“They loved them.” Simon interrupted your tirade.
——————
“WAIT!?” Doves voice echoed through her first floor.
With a deep breath and heavy sigh Simon rounded the corner into the kitchen with his four year old Grace in his arms. Grace had her arms wrapped around Simon’s thick neck, eyes droopy, and still half asleep.
“You liar!” Dove whipped around and pointed her finger in Simon’s unflinching face. He went to bite it but it was quickly retracted and used to poke him in the stomach. Her finger crumpled against the rippled muscles of his abdomen and she ended up having to shake her hand out from the dull pain.
In her hand was the small white card you had written her the night before. Looking from the card to the cherry pie Simon saw a few bites unceremoniously taken from it and traces of crumbs on his wife’s pretty lips.
“Had to take a taste first?” Simon flirted with a devilish smile. His left hand coming up and seductively swiping over her plump bottom lip. He was quickly swatted away like a pesky fly hanging in the air too long.
“I want pie for breakfast.” Grace mumbled and pointed to the crimson pie on the counter.
“I knew it! I had a hunch she was Price’s wife and I let your dumb ass trick me.” Shoving the note in Simons face he quickly batted his wife away like she had done to him.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well now you know.” Brushing Dove off Simon made his way to the round kitchen table and plopped his youngest daughter down. He then knocked on the window and waved for Fae his middle child who was 6 to come inside and stop playing around in the rain.
“I bought five of her apple pies from the bake sale.” Dove mumbled as she read over the note again.
“Eggs or cereal, Grace?” Simons deep voice grunted as he went to fish through the fridge to make breakfast. He noticed the mini apples pies neatly stacked in the fridge with a note that read ‘one each.’ Simon was absolutely going to eat Doves if she didn’t get to it by this evening. Knowing you were the one to bake it meant it was going to be divine.
“No. Pie.” The four year old countered.
“We aren’t having pie for breakfast.” The mumbled words were ignored. Picking up the elegant mini pie Simon looked it over carefully. It looked delicious. Maybe pie wasn’t a bad choice for breakfast.
“Mummy did.” Grace said in the sweetest voice.
“Let them have pie. It’s not the end of the world.” Without looking for approval from her husband Dove was bringing the cherry pie over to the kitchen table with plates, silverware, and a knife to cut it.
“Pie for breakfast!? Fuck, yeah!” Fae cheered as she came in through the back door adjacent to the kitchen table. The young girls language had Simon snickering and shooting a cheeky wink her way. She slid out of her drenched rain coat and boots and bounded for the kitchen table.
“Language.” Dove warned, tongue peaking out from the corner of her mouth as she concentrated on cutting the pie. Placing the mini pie back in the fridge Simon went over to watch Dove slice up the pie, hoping she’d give him an extra large piece.
“I’ll take that much.” Simon motion with his finger at the pie to show how much he wanted.
“That’s half the bloody pie! You get one slice like the rest of us.” Dove knocked her hip into Simon thigh playfully. Without notice from the girls Simon had palmed a half full of her ass.
“Did you buy it from the store? It’s yummy.” Grace’s face had red jam like pie filling smeared across her mouth and a wide toothy grin also tinted ruby.
“Uncle John’s wife made it.” Dove smirked now having a face to put a name to.
“She should make more.” Fae spoke as she shoveled her pie into her mouth. She was so much like her father. Looks, mannerism, snarky attitude, smart mouth, and most of all her food preference. She could live off protein and sweets if you let her.
“Are we seriously having pie for breakfast?” The oldest of the Riley girls interjected as she walked up to the kitchen table. Like everyone else she was still in her pajamas.
“It was your mums idea.” Simon spoke around his spoon and finally sat down at the kitchen table between Fae and Grace.
“Heard you met Price’s boy.” Nodding at Mel her face went a bit confused until she realized what Simon was talking about. Both Simon and Dove thought Mel wouldn’t have made the connection.
“Oh, Jj!? Yeah he’s a cutie!” Taking her seat Mel smirked as she thought about the blue eyed boy two years younger than her. Simon and Dove shared a shocked look that Mel was the first to figure this out before any adult caught on. Although it showed she was equally as observant as both her parents.
“A cutie!?” It was hard to stop the half yell Simon barked out at Mel’s description of the Price boy.
“Wait how’d you figure it out?” Dove asked feeling proud her daughter had caught on before she even had.
“Yeah. Looks just like Uncle John so it was obvious who he was. He’s funny. Really funny actually. He’s tall too, seems like he’s more my age.” Mel was quite a fan of the ten year old boy.
He was one of the few boys in his year that didn’t snicker and gawk at the girls in Mels grade. Her grade was the oldest in the school and after this year she would be moving up to secondary school which scared her. She would be the one gawking at the older boys soon enough.
“Poor kid, lookin like his dad.” The joke had all the women in Simons life stopping on the spot and giving him a dirty look.
“That wasn’t very nice!” Grace shoved her pie covered finger in Simon’s face not appreciating the meanness.
“Woooow, Simon. With a face like yours you’re gonna say that?” Mel added.
“Uncle John’s beard is nice.” Fae tried to defend the man.
“Really, Simon. Grow up.” Dove scolded him and lightly smacked the back of his hand.
With a deadpan expression all the girls comments went in one ear and out the other as he continued to eat. This was a typical morning where Simon would say one thing wrong and everyone would jump down his throat. He’d learned to tune it out instead of inspect his behavior.
“I texted Indy. We’ll be going over in a couple weeks for dinner.” With a kiss to the top of Simon’s head Dove tried to walk away. Simon’s arm looped around her waist and pulled her onto his lap and forced her to stay put.
“Stay. Eat.” Simon pushed the half eaten pie toward his giggling wife.
He hated this. Hated that Indy was about to invade his family life. This was his little slice of heaven that he had no intention on expanding; outside of one more baby. The only comfort he could find in this moment was having Dove sat in his lap while his daughters chatted away. It would be better if he pushed aside the impending meet up and focused on his family.
Today would be peaceful and good, Simon convinced himself as Dove fed him a bite of pie. And if it wasn’t he had something to look forward to tonight since today was ‘baby making day’ as Dove so eloquently put it.

OPERATION CINDERELLA-SABOTAGE [SAVANACLAW]
in which he rescues you from your very short-lived wedding.
SUMMARY: due to a massive misunderstanding, a prince from royal sword academy is set to wed you at sunset. thankfully, your un-princely crush is here to save the day and crash this lovely wedding.
PAIRINGS: everyone x fem reader (separately)
WARNINGS: they're being a bit dramatic, characters are 18+, slightly suggestive (leona and ruggie), leona lifts you up bc he's a big man like that,
NOTES: this is echoes the ghost bride event, but listening to this prompted me to write out this scenario instead. i made this for shits and giggles, so have fun with this self-indulgent fic ofmine writing for savanaclaw was pretty funny tho
"I—"
"I object!"
LEONA KINGSCHOLAR
"What have you gotten yourself into this time, herbivore? How bothersome. You had better be prepared to kiss the ground I walk on as soon as I grab you from the altar. You owe me for this, big time. Don't even think about lumping me in with the same lot as Ashengrotto. I suppose I'll have to retell you this as soon as I get you out of there... Damn it, the prefect couldn't pick up the goddamn phone for the fifteenth time. Park the car, Ruggie. I'm going in."
Imagine Leona's irritation when he has Grim tugging at his tail blubbering nonsense about you and a wedding. He really thought it was some stupid ploy to have him attend class or some arrangement until he heard Malleus expressing his concerns a couple rooms away.
Because what do you mean the herbivore is getting hitched into a royal family?! You sure that we are talking about the same magicless prefect with literally no credentials or documentation?
It's enough to have the beastman get up and deal with the issue himself. Consider yourself a lucky prefect since he is personally driving his way to the venue to pluck you from Prince Whatever's clutches.
Did he think the plan through? Not really. Leona is a prince himself from the Sunset Savannah, and he can easily abuse that status for issues like these. It should be easy. All he had to do was go in, and get you out, right? Right?
That being said, was it really necessary to dress for the occasion? He would have happily went in with his uniform, but Ruggie seemed to have insisted because no one would take him seriously if he came in looking like a bum! Hair tied back and donning a suit, he can easily pass as a prince charming if he tried. Still, he knows that you wouldn't expect him to be a white knight. You knew him too well to think him to be one.
Kicking down the doors of the chapel, everyone's eyes flew to Leona with mild shock and surprise. The second prince from the Sunset Savannah? What business could he possibly have here? Of course, that business would be no other than you who had gasped at the sight of the beastman, dressed to the nines as if he were the groom himself.
It takes everything in Leona's power to hold back his exasperated sigh when his eyes land on you. No wonder Pierce Charmant fell in love at first sight, you looked like an absolute dream. The longer he stared at you, the easier it was to forget that he had something to take care of here. As beautiful as you looked in that dress and veil, you would sooner suit the colors of the Sunset Savannah better than whatever this man's designers gave you.
Pierce lets out an uncomfortable cough, straightening his back as his eyes narrowed onto the beastman. "Prince Leona Kingscholar, I do recall sending an invitation. Unfortunately, you are quite late to the occasion." His hand extends towards the pews, a tight lipped smile surfacing his expression.
"Still, please have a seat. We can pardon the intrusion."
Leona flashes a haughty smile, his stance exuding pride and confidence. "You don't have to. I'm here to crash your wedding, Charmant." He takes long strides down to the altar, eyes fixated on your own. The beastman ignores the scandalized gasps, the 'oohs' and 'ahhs' as he makes his way to you, as if he was eager to retrieve a possession of his.
It's the way your lower lip quivers, how your hands wring against one another and the slight bead of sweat forming on your temples. It was difficult to tell if you were nervous yourself, or if you were just taken aback by how handsome the beastman was in his get-up.
"Herbivore," It snaps you out of your daze, reminding you to blink when your eyes land onto his narrowed green eyes. His voice is as commanding as ever, like the call of a lion to his pride.
Rather than addressing you from the high tops, he stands at the bottom of the alter with a raised brow, looking up to you. Then his lips curl upwards into a sly grin, mocking Pierce whose jaw was clenched.
"Herbivore, you really wanna marry that guy?" Leona asks in that low coaxing tone, very well knowing the answer before you shook your head wildly.
"No!"
Leona shrugs to himself with an exasperated sigh.
"Good enough for me."
Feeling a pair of strong arm wrap around your thighs, you couldn't help but let out a slight yelp when you felt your feet leave the ground. Instinctively clawing at Leona's back, you find yourself hoisted onto his shoulder like a sack of rice. The crowd gasps audibly, and you cannot help but hide your face in your hands as the beastman shamelessly began to walk towards the exit point without another word.
"Where do you think you're going?!" Pierce yells out from the altar, his hand falling to the blade hanging on his hip. You hear Leona snort, pausing for a moment to look back at the man. He rolls his eyes, almost annoyed by the other prince's theatrics.
"I'm bringing the Prefect back to where she belongs. I didn't think you weren't above spiriting strangers away over shoe sizes."
Gritting his teeth, Pierce shook his head and grinded onto his teeth. "You are not her guardian, nor her lover. You have no authority, Kingscholar!"
You can feel Leona exhale from the way his shoulders fall slightly, followed by how his grip on your middle tightens. "Then I stake my claim on her today," His tone is much more darker now, more dominating than the arrogant tone he had been using since he stepped through those doors.
Truly befitting of a lion demanding the submission of lower prey. "Do you really want to cross paths with my family, Charmant? I am sure my family is willing to negotiate at the next possible date." You know that Leona is smirking now, based on how irritation flashes across your supposed groom's face.
"Well, if you decide to try, my family will write you back in three days time. Until then, Charmant."
Noises erupt from the crowd as they watched Leona carry you down to the exit. Hanging against his back, you poke at his shoulder slightly. "Really? You have the authority to do that?" Leona clicks his tongue in his response, almost attempting to shush you down.
"Of course not, but Charmant doesn't have to know. Let Crowley take care of it. I am only the delivery boy."
Sure, it was a massive bluff on his end, but does it really matter? Leona got you out of that situation safe and sound! Even if it ended with you being hoisted over his shoulder and carried out of the cathedral, there was not a single scratch on you! That being said, Charmant was not exactly happy to know that Leona scammed him into letting you go, but you were long gone when he came to that conclusion.
Did we get Leona to drive you back to Night Raven College? Nope. Ruggie's getting a good bonus from being the getaway driver, not to mention the fact he drove you all through a fast-food drive-thru on Leona's wallet. He doesn't have to know either, not when he is fast asleep on your shoulder in the backseat.
Oddly enough, Leona wouldn't be leaving your side anytime soon. Even after Ruggie's dropped you off at Ramshackle, the lion beastman trails after you like a shadow into the manor, up until he's invaded your room.
"Leona, don't you have to go back to your dorm?" Raising a brow at your questioning tone, Leona crossed his arms and stared at you through the mirror's reflection.
The sun had already set long ago, leaving the moon filtering in through the windows. It was the only source of light, considering you haven't even though to flip the lights on. You can see Leona behind you, his eyes following the train of your dress and how it sweeps against the creaky floorboards.
"Ha? I haven't even started asking for compensation yet." He rumbles, finding his hand playing with the lace of your supposed wedding dress. The thought of it makes his stomach churn, followed by that prince's scent invading his nostrils.
Green eyes flicker back to you, something dark reflecting in them to the point where your breath is hitched.
"You ever thought of marriage before, herbivore?" Your eyes widened with surprise at his question. You could only let out a nervous chuckle, avoiding his gaze as you shift your gaze onto your wedding dress. "This entire experience has made me terrified of getting married for a while, Leona." You hear his humming from behind, eyes returning to the mirror to find his hand ghosting above the veil fixed onto the crown of your head. He doesn't let himself touch, only hovering slightly above the fabric. He seems almost lost in thought when he shoots the next question. "What kind of man are you looking for?" You stay silent, almost tempted to attack him for how seductive his voice seemed to sound in that moment. He must've been doing it on purpose. Then he chuckles slightly, teasing. "Don't tell me you're after the princely type like Charmant Ultra-Soft there." He easily catches your wrist when you whipped around to face him, smirking slightly at your somewhat flustered expression. "Of course not! He's... he's not my type anyways!" "Then what's your type then?" Gulping to yourself, you take a step back. He takes one forward. Another step back, another of his comes forward, all until your back is pressed against the fixed mirror. With a quiet purr from his throat, he hunches forward to hover above the crook of your neck.
You are already so certain that he sees through you, through the way your heart pounds in your ears or to the way you let him invade your personal space like he belonged there. Leona's lips quirk up into a smirk, followed by a knowing hum. "You never know, Prefect. Maybe Charmant will come knocking down your door claiming my stake on you is fake." His large hand presses itself against your hip in an almost possessive manner, but you can easily sense his hesitance, waiting for your approval.
"Or maybe, you'll wake up to everyone crowning you as a princess from the Sunset Savannah. Would it be so bad, herbivore?"
Pulling himself away, Leona rests an arm above your head and towers over you. You cannot avoid his gaze now, nor can you avoid that smug look of his against the glow of moonlight.
"Would it be so bad being yours?"
RUGGIE BUCCHI
"Nah, I can't use the Kingscholar name. Leona's gonna have my neck if I used his identity... Ali Baba? Does it look like I own thousands of camels and elephants? Come on, Jack. You're a smart cookie, you can think of some fancy-schmancy princey name for me! Can't exactly start a dispute with a royal family that doesn't exist... Pssh, you think Crowley's gonna help out in time? Prefect's gonna end up paying alimony if we let him take care of it! Come on, you got it Jack! Think faster!"
For all the trouble that Ruggie had caused you during and after Leona's overblot, he had to hand it over to you— you were probably one of the most well-resourced individuals in the campus. Sure, you had no magic but you had a good head above your shoulders and you seemed to have a knack for getting yourself out of tricky situations. It was admirable, really. He really respects you, and would often trust that you can take care of yourself!
Alas, you couldn't get yourself out of this situation. Ruggie had to do the biggest double-take when he looked over to see a wedding being broadcasted on Jack's phone, only to see you being dragged against your will for a gown fitting at a boutique.
Judging by that freaked out look on your face, you're going to need some help and Ruggie is ready to help you escape! Sure, he isn't as powerful as Leona or influential as Malleus... Now that he thought of it, how was he going to take you back safely without causing a ruckus? Crowley obviously is out of the question, and you might as well be married at sunset if he doesn't do anything now.
He's gonna have to pull out the big S.
S, as in, scammer.
"Darling, I'm here!"
You cannot keep your jaw from falling from its hinges as you watch Ruggie walk into the cathedral with a certain stride that was so unlike him. He wears a suit that is too expensive for his tastes, posture straight and refined to the point you were almost fooled into thinking it was a rich twin brother separated from birth.
In that moment, he seemed more like Azul than he did the hyena beastman you knew. It was only for a brief moment before you saw Ruggie, with his little crooked smile and the way he rubs the back of his neck with a hint of shyness.
"... Darling?" You croak in confusion. Ruggie laughs, easing your nervous heart. "Shishishi, it's me! Sorry, where you waiting for me that long?" Without a care in a world, the hyena beastman is making quick steps down the aisle towards you. You can tell that he is nervous though, based on the way his tail twitches slightly as eyes follow him down.
"And who are you?" Pierce demands. Ruggie gasps, feigning offense as he glances to the crowd, looking for some sort of support. "Me? You don't recognize me?" Sighing dramatically, the beastman shook his head in disappointment.
"Sheesh, didn't think that royalty these days haven't kept up with the times. Let me introduce myself," He grins, bowing to disguise the fact that he is playing a crook.
"Prince Varve Cu, a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
Barbecue?! Is that what you're craving, Ruggie?!
You want to choke on the air you just sharply inhaled. You've always known that Ruggie was clever and that he was not above dirty tricks, but you never did expect him to try and scam royalty into thinking he's someone else!
But Pierce hums to himself, attempting to recall the unfamiliar name in the recesses of his memory. "Cu? I have never heard of that name before." It almost baffles you that the prince was actually questioning his own memory, over a family name that never existed.
Always the opportunist, Ruggie scoffs in a spoiled manner, turning his nose up childishly. You would have been fooled by his act if you never really knew his true nature.
"How rude! We are quite the affluent family, you know? Luckily for you, I'm in a very good mood." Ruggie clears his throat, running a hand through his hair as he reaches his hand out towards you.
"I'm here to take back the Ramshackle Prefect. I am afraid she's already spoken for."
You may never get a chance to escape again, so you quickly flee Pierce's side to take Ruggie's hand. Easily, his hand wraps itself around your waist as he steps in front of you.
Pierce raises a brow, almost alarmed by how swiftly you had retreated to this mystery man. "You had no ring when we met. You never mentioned being betrothed to another prince, Prefect."
Thankfully, Ruggie is quick to answer for you with all the flowery vocabulary he can muster. "Clearly, if you were better well-informed, the Lightseeker family does not require the use of rings. We firmly believe our love is enough proof to the world that we are one!" He turns to you and winks, hiding away his nervous grip on your waist.
"And we are in love, aren't we?"
There's that look in his eyes that is begging for you to play along with the lie, before everything would fall apart. Ruggie knew he fell for the right girl when you cozied up to his side, playing up a few tears and whimpers.
"I was so scared! How can I possibly tell this man that I already belonged to someone else? He wouldn't let me go!" You exclaimed, earning shocked reactions from the crowd.
Pierce gulps to himself, hands raised in defense. "Well, I—!"
Ruggie clutches your hands, playing the part of a charismatic prince that he would only be for a few more minutes. "Say no more, Prefect. I understand. Rest assured, you will never leave my side ever again." He drawls dramatically before he straightens his posture, glaring with the energy of a spoiled brat as he could muster.
"I will be certain to spare you of my family's wrath! They do not take very lightly to incidents like these, but for the sake of my lovely girl here, I shall be lenient."
Pierce finds himself nodding nervously, wanting to hide from the scrutiny of the crowd that seemed to be shocked that he would try to marry an unwilling bride, much to your annoyance. Only now, they decide to question this wedding?!
The hyena beastman begins to lead you by the waist, ushering you through the carpets in a hurried manner. "Let us be on our way, Prefect." He murmurs into your ear, but it is not the exit he takes you to.
Rather, it's the buffet table set to the side.
"Ruggie, what are you doing?" You whisper as he pauses at the edge, grabbing two paper plates and shoving one into your hands. He grins at you, hiding a laugh behind a free palm.
"Shishishi— I ain't planning on leaving emptyhanded, Prefect. Help me out here, will you? Let's take as much as we can before this idiot catches on. Come on, let's stack up a plate for the ride back!"
Luckily for you and Ruggie, you both manage to sneak away before anyone started realizing that the hyena beastman had fooled everyone in that cathedral. It's a subtle reminder for him to lay low for the next few weeks and deny any relation to being a prince. Does a guy like him look like a prince? Sure, he's the prince of empty pockets!
Munching on the wedding treats with a hand on the wheel, Ruggie has already prepared himself for the long drive back to Night Raven College. He's already begun negotiating some sort of compensation for getting you out of that wedding. A handful of favors here and there, mostly packed lunches from you to keep him fueled for a couple of days.
He expects you to be in more comfortable clothing by the time he's finished returning Leona's car and clothes. Much to his surprise, you're still in that poofy wedding dress, holding onto your own cup of instant noodles while Ruggie's was on the little coffee table in your living room. You do not miss the way his tail wags at the sight or how he averts his gaze, shuffling to the space beside you.
"You couldn't take it off on your own?" He questions, only to be replied with a casual shrug from you.
"Couldn't reach the zipper. I gave up."
Ah.
Consigning himself to the awkward silence, he takes his own cup and starts to munch down on the supposed 'wedding' dinner. Both you and him watch the flickers of the old television, watching some news as white noise. It's only coverage on the wedding, the runaway bride and the mysterious prince that seems to not exist.
Ruggie knows better than to let intrusive thoughts leave his lips, but he cannot help it as Pierce Charmant appears on the screen. "You think you ever gonna marry rich? Charmant was ready to give you an easy ticket to luxury, you know?" He doesn't meet your eyes, but you feel his tail brush against your arm, badgering for an answer.
Following a slurp, you shake your head. "I mean, if I was able to get a divorce with good settlement money? I would've." You tell him with a short shrug, so casually as if it were a lighthearted topic.
A bitter laugh leaves Ruggie's lips, ears deflated slightly at the thought. "Yeah? He can give you a pretty easy life, but he'd be real lucky to have you. Seven-time overblot champion? He's won jackpot." Not really. It was never about your achievements anyways. Pierce would've been the luckiest man in Twisted Wonderland to win you over, for all your sweetness and edges.
Ruggie's sulky behavior does not go missed by you, and you could only nudge his elbow. "I would've taken the settlement money and asked you on a date. My treat," It's the way his ears perk up, his head whipped towards you hastily with that surprised expression. He doesn't even realize his tail is brushing against the couch wildly, or that his cheeks are getting warm as he takes in your shy smile.
"It'd be funny if we ended up going on more dates and I ended up using that settlement money for a wedding. It saves a lot of money, don't you think so?"
Laughter bubbles from Ruggie's chest, and in that moment, he finds himself falling in love all over again. "Shishishi, you're a genius! That's what I like about you!"
Shifting closer to your side, Ruggie presses his cheek against your shoulder. The dress takes up so much space that it nearly swallows him too, hiding your hands from sight as he laces his fingers with yours in a silent confession.
You squeeze in conformation, relaxing into his warmth as he eyes the skirt with interest.
"Think we can sell it? Might catch a big buck for a royal wedding dress." You mutter with a gleam of amusement in your eyes. Ruggie chuckled to himself in agreement. "Yeah? I'd be happy to sell it for you as long as I get a cut of profits as the selling agent."
"Do you take payments in kisses?"
Instant noodles set aside, Ruggie licks his lips as he leans in towards you. For a prey-like subspecies, he looks very much like a predator looking down on his meal when he stares at you this way. Eyes fixated on your plush lips, he hummed in contemplation.
"Wanna give me one now for all the hard work I did getting you out of that wedding?"
JACK HOWL
"I'm sure that it's just a misunderstanding. If Prince Charmant is everything he says he is, then surely, he will let her go. I will be sure of it that she returns to Ramshackle tonight. The Prefect... I would rather not see her look so distressed like that. I just hope she isn't harmed in any way. Ace, if everything goes south... have Lilia on speed dial. If I cannot save the Prefect, Malleus would be our last resort. Agreed? Agreed."
Possibly the least unhinged one on this list. Not gonna lie, out of everyone in this school, definitely the least dramatic and most pragmatic ones out there. He insisted on dragging Crowley to the altar, but the Headmaster was nowhere to be found.
Sure, Jack has his own feelings for you. Of course, he doesn't want to see you get married to someone else. However, it is your choice and he will always support that.
That being said, he knows you don't want to get married based on your pale expression and strained grins. Clearly, you aren't very enthusiastic about his wedding and if Jack had confidence in himself, he already knew that this prince was certainly not your type.
Jack is smart enough to enlist the help of your closest friends. The first years are definitely helping, from transportation to the last line of defenses if things got awry in that cathedral. Sebek is ready outside to contact Lilia and Malleus should it be necessary, but Jack hopes it won't have to come down to that.
He is probably the only one who has faith that Pierce Charmant can see reason, even when he was the same one who got deluded into thinking you were his one true love because of your shoe size.
Jack doesn't actually dress himself up! He comes in without any fancy preparation really. He's just that much of an authentic guy, and he cares too much about you to keep up appearances.
Jack comes in panting and drenched in sweat, driven by a sense of urgency and alarm. He truly thought he was too late, but it seems that he came at the right time.
"Prefect!" He yells out, eyes zoning onto you as you dropped the bouquet in your hands. The sight of him urges you to move, a mixture of worry and relief swirling in your core.
"Jack!" Your voice rings out in return, echoing of the walls.
Abandoning Pierce, you ignore the prince's calls to you as you race down to the wolf beastman. You ignore the gasps and the stares, immediately pressing your hands against Jack's toned bicep.
"Jack, are you okay?!" You cry out, feeling his chest heave in and out for air. He winces, looking up at you and it only makes his chest constrict even tighter. Jack never meant to worry you like this, but that concern of yours makes his heart skip too many beats.
"Prefect," He doesn't answer your initial question as he attempts to stand up straight amidst pants. Large calloused hands tremble as they take yours, as if keeping them safe in his gentle grip.
"Please don't marry him. Don't marry him if you don't wish to."
He cares not for the prince, the crowd, not even his own feelings as he contemplates the thought of you giving your heart away to someone else. Sucking sharply through his teeth, Jack looks up to a scandalized Pierce who stares from afar. "I am not the one to dictate you what to do, who you choose to give your heart to." He returns his gaze to you, a look so gentle in spite of his sharp features. Jack makes an effort to be soft with you, so quiet in the moment in spite of the spectators watching you both. He wouldn't be this way in public, you knew this.
But if this was the last time he may ever see you as the Prefect, and not some prince's wife, then he wouldn't lose that chance.
Jack lets go of your hands, allowing his trembling fingers to grasp your shoulders lightly. Swallowing to himself, he asks with such uncertainty that it's almost unlike him to doubt what he knew of you. "Prefect, do you wish to marry that man?" He murmurs, eyeing Pierce once more.
He had to be sure. Jack never wanted to take away your choice and perhaps, he was the one with the misunderstanding. Perhaps, you did want to marry this prince from the bottom of your heart.
It was relief that flooded his chest and sparked life back into his tail when you shake your head, beaming at him as if he were a silly boy.
"I don't want to marry him, Jack."
Your words are enough to give him resolve to look at Pierce clearly now. Firm and stubborn, Jack glares at the prince as he positions himself in front of you like a guard. Defensive, but not complacent.
"You heard the Prefect. She doesn't want to marry you." Before Pierce could retort, Jack cleared his throat once more with a sense of authority. He may be a random student from Night Raven College, but that was not going to stop him from defending your wishes against someone who could abuse his power.
"If you have a problem with that, talk it up with Headmaster Crowley. Otherwise, you cannot force her into wedding you. Can you sincerely call yourself a proud student of Royal Sword Academy if you go against the very conducts your school preaches?"
Honestly, Ace and Deuce had to interfere before Jack began to scold the rest of the guests for letting you get married against your will. Admittedly, no one really wanted to interfere now because of how much shame they felt after Jack's lecturing.
Jack was mindful to bring in an extra pair of clothes for you! He would have been happy to rummage through your closet for you, but he is a certified gentleman. He wouldn't go through your stuff without asking, so you would have to settle for wearing some of his clothes. They are likely to be a bit bigger on you, but it sends his tail wagging on overdrive to see you draped in his clothes, his scent.
Quite sweet of the first years to help take you back to Ramshackle. Both you and Jack seemed to have forgotten that you had borrowed his clothes though. The least you could do is wash them for him before you've returned them.
"You didn't have to do that, you know?" Jack grumbled, arms crossed across his pectorals with that disgruntled expression. You knew better than to buy his nonchalant act when his tail seems to undo his efforts to seem unbothered.
You raised a brow at him, holding out his folded laundry in your arms. "What's wrong with it? They're pretty much ready for you to wear."
The wolf beastman sighs to himself, glancing away to avoid your gaze. His cheeks are starting to burn red, but he won't ever acknowledge them. "You don't get it, Prefect. Just drop the subject and leave the clothes on the bench."
It was cruel of you to even think of teasing Jack, but it isn't so often you get to opportunity. You pout at him, clutching the clothes close to your chest.
"... does my detergent stink that bad?"
Your words take him aback, almost like a heinous offense. Before you realized it, Jack had wrung the laundry from your hands and held the fabric closely to his chest. "I never said that! Don't misunderstand!" He stammers, subconsciously wringing a shirt up his neck.
Jack immediately realizes he's fallen in your trap when you smile at him knowingly. Sighing in defeat, he submits to your whims. "You... I like your scent. It gets hard to concentrate when you're..." He mumbles shyly, ears flattened as he fights the urge to bury his nose into his clothes that are now laced with your scent.
"Was this how you won that prince over? I wouldn't be surprised." He mumbles to himself in exasperation. You could only laugh softly as you approach him, rubbing small circles on his back comfortingly. "Are you implying that I won you over too?" He says nothing, silently brooding to the side in a futile attempt to keep his tail still.
You don't exactly help his case when you place a kiss on his cheek either.

school spirit and all! - soccer!frat!rafe cameron (+18) - part iii (final)
warnings: angst; smut; word count: 6.3k (sorry)

what the fuck.
as soon as the words left his mouth, you wondered how many hits to the head soccer players got each match, because there was no way in hell rafe cameron was in love with you.
suddenly hyperaware of your nakedness, you stood up, almost falling off his bed in the process.
in a frantic scramble, you reached for your clothes, tugging on your jersey inside out and hopping around on one foot trying to pull up your shorts.
"what's wrong with you?! we just had sex!"
rafe blinked, still dazed from your anything but innocent activities.
“uh, yeah, that's kind of when these feelings hit me.”
you paused, one leg in your levis shorts, the other still “bare”, and shot him a look.
"you don't just drop the l-word after sex! are you insane!" you managed to get your shorts up and fastened, albeit a bit crookedly, “jesus christ.”
“i didn’t mean to freak you out, it just came—"
“yeah, well, maybe lead with something less dramatic” you snorted, tugging your shirt the right way around. "i mean, who does that?"
he laughed, the sound rich and warm, and for a moment you were torn between being annoyed and charmed, “i’m sorry. i meant it tho.”
“no, you didn’t.” you shot back, rolling your eyes as you fumbled with your shoelaces.
“i did,” he insisted, his voice earnest, but you were too busy wrestling with your stubborn converse to look up.
“you don't even know me."
"course i do," he looked offended, like you insulted him, "your birthday is on october 8th, and your favorite color is blue. your favorite food is picanha and kimchi ramyeon. you do this thing when you're happy where you just speak really loud, all the time and when your favorite song comes on, which is all of them really, you always squeal—"
you think you lost at least three brain cells as you stood there, jaw dropped to the floor, listening to him list all the things he knew about you.
correctly.
"y’know what sherlock?” you said suddenly, standing up, finally fully dressed but still feeling exposed. “i need some air. a lot of it.”
“what?”
“i’m leaving.”
“wait—" you hear the sound of sheets ruffling, “wait a sec—dammit!”
you didn't look back as you hurried out of his room, the sounds of the frat party thumping from downstairs, music seeping through the walls. the hallway was packed with people, and you pushed your way through the crowd, your mind racing. oh my god. everyone was seeing you leave rafe cameron’s room in a hurry. there was no way in hell you’d have a peaceful week after this.
you were almost reaching the door when you felt a hand grab your upper arm. you turned around to see rafe, now dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, “can we talk about this?”
the music was deafening, forcing you to practically scream to be heard. “what part of 'too much' don’t you get?”
“why?” he asked, his voice barely cutting through the noise. “why does it have to be too much?”
“because it is!” you shouted, then softened your tone just enough to be less harsh, “just let it go.”
he let go of your arm, but his eyes stayed locked on yours. “’m not asking you to say it back, okay?”
you felt the weight of curious eyes on you. the partygoers’ stares only made you want to leave even more. desperation clawed at your chest.
rafe closed his eyes, shaking his head slightly, “did that really feel like only sex to you?”
you bit your lip, the regret hitting you immediately, but you couldn't stop now. you needed to get out.
“yeah.” you replied, even though your heart screamed at you to take it back.
he stepped back, letting go of your arm completely. “fine. go on then," he said, his tone flat and lifeless. “just go.”
“i’m sorry—" you started again, but rafe's expression hardened. he’d never looked at you like that and you hated every single second of it.
he stepped back further, creating a physical distance, as if to save himself the hurt, “leave.”
you didn’t have to be told twice, you wanted to be anywhere but there. you couldn't delete the image of his face when you rejected him from your brain.
as soon as you were outisde, you pulled out your phone, and dialed pope's number. he picked up on the third ring, his voice laced with excitement.
"the dick was that bad? i could've sworn—”
tears were already threatening to fall as you tried to steady your voice. "pope, can you... can you pick me up?"
“huh?”
"i just... i need to get out of here," you managed, voice cracking as you wrapped an arm around yourself, feeling strangely exposed.
"shit. okay. i'll be there in ten minutes.”
you found a quiet spot near the edge of the campus, too embarrassed to sit outside rafe’s frathouse with so many people coming and going. leaning against a tree, you sank down, hugging your knees to your chest.
what the hell were you doing? had you just permanently ruined your friendship with rafe? let your little mommy issues get ahead of you?
when pope finally pulled up in his car, you climbed in wordlessly, unable to meet his eyes.
“what did he do? you want me to punch him? cause y’know i’ll call jj and we—"
you leaned your head against the cool glass of the car window, “this was such a fucking bad idea.”
he glanced at you briefly before focusing back on the road, “what? why?”
“because.”
pope's brow furrowed in confusion. "what did he say?"
"that he loved me.”
“what the fuck?!" your body jolted forward, your heart racing from the sudden stop. the motherfucker accidentally slammed the brakes.
“pope, what the hell?”
“my bad, fuck,” he muttered, regaining control of the car and easing back onto the road, “he dropped that shit on you?”
“yeah.”
“okay, that’s kinda fucked, but—“ pope glanced at you again, concern etched on his face. “look, cameron might be a lot of things, but he’s not a liar. man, he’s the complete opposite if you ask me. too fucking honest for his own good.”
“he picked the worst time to be honest,” you muttered, wiping away a tear, “i literally had his dick in my hands!”
“dude!” pope faux-gagged, “i don’t need the details, jesus.”
“sorry,” you said, half-laughing through your tears. “it’s just... how can he love me? he doesn’t even know me! that’s what’s pissing me off the most.”
that was a lie.
pope sighed, shaking his head. “i don’t know, but it sounds like he’s really into you. you spent a lot of time together, right? maybe he knows you better than you think.”
he does.
“don’t get smart on me pope howard. i need your support right now, not this sentimentalist bullshit.”
pope chuckled, “you’ve got to talk to him. y’know that, right?”
you groaned, lifting the palms of your hands to your eyes, “why?”
“because you care about him, you dumbass. that’s fucking obvious.”
“stop making sense,” you mumbled, sighing heavily. “i need you to be angry with me, pope.”
he shook his head, a small smile playing at his lips. "i'm your best friend. my job is to tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.”
you slumped further into your seat, “this is your fault anyway. you planted the stupid idea in my brain.”
“me? this is all you.”
your mouth dropped, “be fucking serious. you told me to sleep with him! for sports!”
“yeah, okay, i’ll take the blame but…”
“but?” you narrowed your eyes in warning, “but what?”
he shrugged innocently, “you never listened to me up to that point. i didn’t think you’d do it. that’s gotta mean something.”
“stop making me think,” you muttered under your breath, letting your head fall back against the seat. “i just want to forget this whole night happened.”
“maybe you just need some time to figure out how you feel.”
“i don’t feel anything,” you lied, staring out the window at the passing lights. “he’s just rafe cameron.”
pope sighed again, the kind of sigh that said he didn’t believe you for a second. “whatever you say."”
he dropped you off at your dorm, waiting until you were inside before driving away. you made your way to your room, collapsing onto your bed. why did you feel like such a terrible person?
you grabbed your phone and scrolled through your contacts, stopping at rafe’s name. your thumb hovered over the call button before you shook your head, tossing the phone aside.
you needed time. time to think, time to breathe, and time to figure out what the hell you wanted.
the next morning, you woke up with a headache and a sense of unease that settled deep in your chest. you dragged yourself out of bed. pope had texted you, a simple “hope you’re okay <3” that made you smile despite everything. you quickly replied, assuring him you were fine, even if you didn’t fully believe it.
you weren’t.
not when your first class of the day was with rafe. but you could do it.
you walked into class just in time, like you always did, only this time you were dreading the inevitable awkwardness of being sat next to rafe.
you hadn’t thought this through. he usually got here before you, real heavy on being on time for everything he did. you tried to keep your eyes locked on the professor, who was gathering the material for class, but you still took small peeks towards the door, expecting to see him stroll in at any given moment.
except he never did. as the lecture progressed, he never showed up.
when the professor eventually asked about his whereabouts, kelce, his friend who sat a few rows behind you, raised his hand casually.
“rafe’s not feeling well today,” kelce spoke up, his tone nonchalant. he glanced over at you briefly, a knowing look in his eyes that made your stomach twist.
oh great, so now you were the witch of the wicked west to all his friends.
the professor nodded sympathetically. “alright, thank you for letting me know, kelce. make sure he gets the notes from today’s lecture.”
kelce nodded in acknowledgment, and the class moved on, but your mind was racing. rafe skipping class wasn’t like him. the timing felt deliberate, almost as if he was avoiding you after last night.
as the lecture continued, you realized rafe wouldn’t be the only one needing notes. all you’d done for two hours was scramble down a few words, none of them making any sense. you struggled to focus on the material. every glance towards the door was met with disappointment.
maybe this was serious. maybe he hated you now.
after what felt like an eternity, the class finally ended. packing up your things, you hesitated before deciding to approach kelce, who lingered near his seat. you’d only spoken to him a handful of times, mainly when you and rafe studied back at the frat house.
kelce was nice. but the look he was giving you now, was anything but.
"hey, kelce," you began, trying to sound casual.
"hey," kelce replied cautiously, eyeing you up and down.
you swallowed, suddenly feeling self-conscious under his scrutiny.
"um, is rafe okay? is he sick?”
he nodded slowly, his gaze unwavering, “the flu. got it last night."
"l-last night?”
“yup.”
“oh.”
kelce's brows furrowed slightly, “look, i don’t know what happened. but, he’s…not doing okay.”
your stomach sank. it was clear rafe was avoiding you, and the guilt gnawed at you even more. "i just... i didn't mean to..."
kelce cut you off gently, his voice softening. "that’s none of my business.”
"yeah," you murmured, feeling utterly inadequate.
"he'll come around," kelce reassured you, though his tone lacked conviction.
you nodded dumbly, unsure of what else to say. part of you wanted to apologize again, but...you’d done nothing wrong. there was no need to explain yourself.
"thanks," you managed weakly, offering a half-hearted smile.
kelce nodded in response, his expression remaining neutral. with that, you turned and hurried out of the classroom, feeling the weight of kelce's gaze on your back. the hallways felt suffocating, with whispered conversations and curious glances that only amplified your discomfort. did everyone know? was there a journal column telling everyone who got laid last night? fucking hell.
back in your dorm room, you collapsed onto your bed, burying your face in your hands. this was worse than what you’d expected. you couldn't stop seeing the image of rafe's hurt expression, his quiet insistence that he meant what he said.
your phone buzzed beside you, and you hesitated before picking it up, sighing in realief when you saw it was a text from pope.
"baaaabeeee, how did it go?"
did he really want to know the mess you'd made of things?
after a moment's hesitation, you replied with a simple, "not great. think everyone hates me lol"
pope's response was almost immediate. “shit. you wanna to talk about it?"
you bit your lip, undecided between wanting to unload everything and wanting to bury it all deep down. in the end, you settled for a brief reply. “later."
that went on for a week and three days.
you avoided rafe’s usual hangouts, keeping your head down and focusing on your classes. you still hadn’t seen him, and it was starting to drive you crazy. you needed to talk to him, but you were scared. like, shitless scared, of what he’d say, scared of what you’d feel.
it was hours later when you finally saw him again. you were in the library, buried in your notes, the ones who’d stolen from pope because you hadn’t been able to focus properly in any class and you hated that you’d let a boy have so much control over your brain, let alone a jock.
when you looked up and saw him standing at the entrance. he looked a little too good. the typical shorts hitting just above his knees, a loose sleeveless shirt that showed off his muscles way too much for your sanity, and his hair peeking out from under a snapback.
good enough to eat.
he spotted you almost immediately and then quickly turned his head to side, ignoring you.
ouch. okay, fair enough all things considered.
your heart skipped a beat. it was now or never. for a moment, you considered hiding, but you knew you couldn’t avoid him forever. taking a deep breath, you stood up and made your way over to him.
“hey,” you said softly, your heart pounding in your chest, trying to sound as casual as possible.
rafe looked up for a second, then returned his attention to the phone in his hands, “hey.”
“can we talk?” you asked.
he shrugged, and it took everything in you not to punch him in the face. “sure.”
you swallowed hard, trying to find the right words. “sorry about the other night. i-i didn’t handle it well.”
he nodded, but his gaze remained on his phone, fingers typing away. “yeah, i get it.”
you frowned, sensing that something was off. he’d never ignored you before, he wasn’t even giving you the dignity of looking at you as you spoke to him.
“are you okay?”
“fine,” he replied curtly.
before you could ask him what the fuck is problem was now, a girl approached, her smile bright, almost blinding you. she was ridiculously pretty, with long braided hair and sparkling brown eyes.
a literal doll.
she looked between you and rafe, “hi, are you ready to go?”
your heart sank as the girl slipped her arm around rafe’s arm and he finally put his stupid phone away and smiled down at her.
heavy on the ouch.
“yeah, let’s go,” rafe said, his voice softening, but then he turned to you, his expression blank again, “see you around.”
you stood there, watching them walk away feeling like a complete fucking idiot. like you were being pranked. what the hell was that? was he trying to make you jealous? or was he moving on that quickly? was there even something to move on from?
you returned to your seat, barely registering the world around you.
is that what he meant by telling you he loved you? you’ve been feeling bad over a boy who clearly only said what he said because you fucked him too good? wow.
you tried to focus on your notes, but your hands were trembling. without realizing it, you started tearing at the pages, ripping them apart. by the time you looked down, half of your notes were in shreds, scattered across the table.
“dammit,” you hissed under your breath. you gathered the torn pieces, stuffing them into your bag. there was no salvaging them now.
with a frustrated sigh, you pulled out your phone and dialed pope’s number.
“what’s up?”
“i need to get fucked up tonight.” you said bluntly, not bothering to hide the frustration you were feeling.
“buy a guy a drink first?”
you could hear him snicker at his own joke, “shut up. are there any parties?”
“yeah, heard there's a big one at the delta house. everyone’s going.”
“okay. we’re going too.”
pope sighed, “i don’t remember signing up for this.”
“shut up and pick me up at 9.”
you decided that tonight was the night to go all out. no more hiding, no more feeling sorry for yourself. you rummaged through your closet, tossing aside clothes that were too plain, too boring, or just not the vibe you were going for.
finally, you found it—the perfect outfit, and possibly the sluttiest thing you proudly owned.
you slipped into a sleek, black leather mini skirt that hugged your curves perfectly, hitting just the right spot on your thighs. you paired it with a cropped, red satin top that showed just enough skin to be daring but not over the top. the top had a deep v-neckline, accentuating your collarbones and drawing attention to the delicate gold necklace you wore. the outfit was completed with a pair of knee-high black boots, giving you an edge and adding a few extra inches to your height. you never wore them out, too worried that your feet would be killing you after a couple of minutes, but tonight, if you got drunk enough, you wouldn’t feel shit.
you looked at yourself in the mirror, adjusting the top and smoothing down the skirt.
your makeup was bold, different from what you usually did—a smoky eye that made your eyes pop and a deep red lipstick that matched your top perfectly. you left your hair loose, allowing it to fall in soft waves. satisfied with your look, you grabbed a small clutch and headed out.
when pope arrived to pick you up, his jaw practically hit the floor. he stared at you, eyes wide, as you strutted towards the car.
“i'm sorry—are we going to a strip club or to a party?” he blurted out.
"are you slutshaming me?"
"no, but be real for a second."
you rolled your eyes, but a small smirk played on your lips. “don’t be dramatic. just wanted to look good.”
“look good?” pope repeated, still in disbelief, “sweets, you always look good, okay? but this? you look like you’re about to rip someone’s heart out.”
“good,” you replied, sliding into the passenger seat. “that’s the goal.”
he shook his head, muttering something under his breath about needing to keep an eye on you all night.
“you’re gonna tell me what happened?”
“nothing happened.”
“right.”
the delta house was already packed when you arrived, the music thumping so loud you could feel it in your chest. you walked in with pope by your side, determined to leave all your worries at the door.
“alright, let’s get some drinks,” pope clapped his hands, rubbing them together before leading you to the makeshift bar. you could feel eyes on you as you walked through the crowd, whispers and stares following your every step. you ignored them.
so what if people knew you fucked rafe? that was your business, not theirs.
you grabbed a tequilla shot, downing it quickly and feeling the alcohol warm you up from the inside. pope handed you another, and you sipped it more slowly, trying to steady your nerves.
“easy. ‘m not holding your hair back if you throw up,” he warned, nudging you gently. “just relax and have fun. cleo’s joining later.”
“awwww, look at you being soft."
“shut up. don’t embarrass me in front of her."
you placed your hand over your heart, “i would never!”
the night wore on, the party growing louder. you danced, laughed, and mingled, trying to keep your mind off rafe and the mess you'd made of things. pope stuck by your side, and cleo, the girl of his dreams, joined you eventually, her energy infectious.
you were happy he’d found someone.
you were at the bar, grabbing another drink, when you saw rafe walk in.
your heart nearly dropped out of your ass, but you forced yourself to stay calm. he was with the same girl from the library and seeing them together made your stomach churn. he hadn't even noticed you yet, too busy talking to her.
"pope," you called, nudging him. "look who's here."
pope glanced over and sighed. "ignore him, please. we're here to have fun, remember?"
you nodded, drowning another shot, "right. fun."
it was easier said than done. every time you glanced their way, you wanted to storm up to him and punch him in that stupid perfect face. why did it bother you so much? he was just a guy. just rafe cameron. you downed another drink, hoping the alcohol would numb the emotions swirling inside you.
“goddamn mama, are you drinking yourself to death?”
jj’s presence barely phased you, “yes.”
“what’s got you so worked up?”
you groaned, not really in the mood for his antics. “nothing. just havin’ a good time.”
“yeah, right,” jj snorted, stealing your drink and taking a sip. “try again. this shit is 95% vodka by the way.”
you snatched it from his hands, “don’t drink my shit. don’t wanna talk about it.”
“alright,” he held up his hands in mock surrender, “dance with me then?”
“no.”
“pleaseee,” he begged, jutting out his bottom lip in a ridiculous pout, “c’mon.
despite your best efforts to stay frustrated, his infectious energy made you crack a smile. "fine, but just one song maybank."
jj whooped, “atta girl.”
he grabbed your hand with a mischievous grin and pulled you onto the crowded dance floor. you laughed as he twirled you around, his movements were surprisingly graceful. one time he made you faceplant the floor, so this was an improvement.
his energy has always been infectious, jj was a literal golden retriever in human from and soon enough you found yourself letting go of all the worries that had been weighing you down. you moved in sync with him, your hips swaying, and your arms following the flow of the music. jj’s playful antics kept you entertained—he'd throw in a spin or a sudden dip, making you laugh even harder.
but then, he leaned in close, his voice barely audible over the music.
“guess who's watching?"
you raised an eyebrow, trying to catch your breath between giggles.
"who?"
jj nodded towards the edge of the dance floor, where rafe stood with a group of his friends. “my number one fan. been eyeing us since we started."
“uh,” you glanced in his direction, catching rafe’s gaze briefly before he looked away, “that’s weird.”
“i know you two fucked.”
your hand instantly reached out to shove jj’s shoulder, “shut up.”
“i'm serious. you’re gonna let him watch or show him what he's missing?"
on one hand, you were furious at rafe for bringing another girl to the party so soon after whatever had happened between you two. after telling you he was in love with you. sure you were a bitch after, but that didn’t mean you didn’t care for him. on the other hand, jj’s always made you go off the rails, in a way that stoked your pride.
“fine,” you said with a defiant grin, “let’s give him a show.”
jj’s smirk widened, and without missing a beat, he spun you around and pulled you in closer, moving with even more enthusiasm than before. the music pounded around you, you couldn’t even tell the lyrics apart. every twirl, every dip, every sway of your hips was a message to rafe—whether he was watching or not—that you were done feeling sorry for yourself. as the song reached its peak, jj dipped you low, and you laughed breathlessly. you glanced towards where rafe had been standing, but he was gone.
then, without warning, from the corner of your eye, you saw a commotion erupting nearby. before you could react, the crowd around you began to murmur and part, revealing rafe. what the hell? what was this? a coming-of-age movie?
his usually friendly composed demeanor was gone, the glare in him was enough to scare anyone in his way. he stormed towards you, his eyes locked on jj. and then it clicked.
“oh for fuck's sake,” you groaned under your breath, knowing that nothing good would come out of it.
"hey, what the—" jj started, but before he could finish, rafe swung a punch at him.
yep, there it was.
the blow caught jj off guard, knocking him back a step. the music seemed to stop, or at least fade into the background as chaos erupted around you. people gasped and shouted, some pulling rafe away while others checked on jj.
you pinched the bridge of your nose in annoyance as you watched jj touch his jaw gingerly.
“what the fuck, cameron?” jj groaned, “watch the pretty face.”
rafe’s chest was heaving as he glared at the other blonde, fists typically clenched by his side, looking as if he was ready to pounce on him again. before he could take another step, you placed yourself in front of him, blocking jj’s figure sitting on the ground.
“upstairs. right now,” rafe opened his mouth to spit something, but you cut him off, “now.”
he moved silently, following you up a flight of stairs to a quieter area. you could hear his breathing from miles away, he was still worked up. you found an empty room and stepped inside, slamming the door shut behind you.
“what the hell was that?” you demanded, turning to face him.
rafe ran a hand through his face, frustration evident in his every movement. “i don’t know, okay? i just—i saw you with him, and i lost it.”
“oh, so you’re a caveman now?”
"god, you can be so fucking infuriating," rafe exploded, throwing his jacket into a corner of the room, "i saw you. touching him like... like none of this matters!"
"none of what matters?" you shot back, incredulous. "you show up with another girl after telling me you love me, and now i‘m not supposed to move on? what do you expect?"
"me?!" he jabbed a finger into his chest, his face flushed with anger. "that was my damn tutor! i wasn't trying to—shit. you think i'm trying to move on? i told you i loved you. that shit doesn’t just disappear because you don't feel the same way."
now you just felt stupid.
"your tutor?" you repeated, trying to wrap your head around the new information.
“we weren’t exactly on speaking terms and i needed help with calculus,” he muttered, “didn’t think you’d want to speak to me. and i was still sad.”
rafe shifted uncomfortably in his place, his expression now softer. you felt the sudden urge to hug him, but you didn’t.
“you said you were supposed to move on,” he says carefully eyeing you.
“i did?” you lied, suddenly feeling like the room was closing in on you, “i don’t think so.”
“you did,” he said firmly, taking a step closer to you. "i meant what i said that night. did you?”
you looked away for a moment, “rafe—“
“i don’t care if you don’t love me, you don’t have to, not right now. i just need to know if you think you can, one day.”
this wasn’t the rafe who punched jj, or the rafe who stormed through the crowd in a fit of jealousy. this was the rafe you were used to.
your ears were ringing as he closed the distance between you. his eyes searching yours, desperate for an answer. the anger had melted away, replaced by a raw, aching need. fuck, he was good.
“listen—” you started again, but this time your voice was softer, trembling. he was so close now that you could feel the heat radiating off his body, his breath mingling with yours, “can you back up? jesus. can’t think properly with you close.”
“don’t want to back up,” he whispered, his voice low and rough. he didn’t move, instead leaning in even closer, his lips brushing your ear, “yes or no?”
“cameron,” you breathed, trying to maintain some semblance of control.
but he wasn’t having it.
his hand cupped your cheek, tilting your face up to meet his gaze. “tell me you don’t feel this,” he murmured, his thumb tracing your lower lip. “tell me you don’t want me too.”
he held your face by the jaw before leaning forward on instinct to kiss you but stopped himself right before he did. eyes on his lips now, completely entranced, you leaned forward to finish what he started but he was stopping you with his thumb. you stayed close though, gaze still fixated on his bottom lip and when his eyes flicker up to yours again, they’re wild and dark.
“you gonna make me fuck it out of you?”
you couldn’t deny the way your body reacted to him, the way your pulse quickened every time he was near, “and if i do?”
he didn't answer immediately, instead closing the gap between you in a heartbeat. his lips crashed against yours, his hand sliding from your jaw to your neck, wrapping his fingers around it as he squeezed you deliciously.
all of a sudden, you were pressed against a wall, his body firm against yours, pinning you with his weight. he got a groan out of you, tilting your head as his grip tightened on your hips to keep you there, secured to him.
“this isn’t fair,” you pushed at his shoulder with your palm so that he pulled away to look at you, “you’re playing dirty.”
“so what?” he breathes out, jaw relaxed as his hips start to grind against yours.
your hand reached out to grab his shoulder for purchase when your hips started to move on their own, “oh fuck.”
rafe arched his hips sharply, teasing your clit, eliciting a gasp as you leaned your head against the wall, your chin tilting towards the ceiling. he kissed your neck, where sweat-dampened hair started to cling at your nape.
when did it get so hot in the stupid room?
“you’re—oh, gonna f-fuck me in a stranger’s room? real romantic,” you tried to sound casual, but it came out all wrong when his fingers pressed into the plush of your ass.
he laughed against your skin, the sound making you tighten your legs around him. you were glad his hands were currently busy because a single touch between your thighs would expose how wet you were.
“you can say it.”
your arms slided past his shoulders and loosely locked behind his neck, “no.”
rafe shook his head, “you asked for it.”
“rafe.”
he was poking his tongue to the inside of his cheek looking at you as if he was ready do destroy you whole, “told you i was gonna get it out of you.”
you blinked slowly, savoring the sight of his face, then your wrists, still crossed behind his neck, tugged gently, drawing him closer, craving his threat, “you’re gonna fuck me until i confess?
he lowered his head until his forehead met yours, your fingers could sense the rapid throb of his pulse beneath his jaw, his eyes tender, holding an adoration you never knew was possible. no one had ever looked at you that way.
you pulled him by the fabric of his shirt, hard enough to make him understand he needed to do something. you moaned against his lips, fingers threading through his hair as he trailed kisses down your neck, sucking and biting gently at the sensitive skin.
your skirt rode up as he rutted into you, and his hand slipped under the fabric, fingers grazing the edge of your panties, teasingly close to where you ached for him most. you gasped, arching into his touch, silently begging for more.
“rafeee,” you whimpered, “please."
he pulled back slightly, his breath ragged, eyes dark with lust. “say it,” he demanded, his fingers tracing patterns on your inner thigh, driving you crazy with anticipation.
“no.” you managed to choke out, feeling a flush of heat spread through your body.
he raised a brow, “no?”
his fingers slipped beneath the thin fabric of your panties, finding you wet and ready. he groaned at the feel of you, his thumb circling your clit with just the right amount of pressure to make you moan his name. you clung to him, hips bucking against his hand, chasing the pleasure he was giving you.
“you sure?” he murmured against your skin, his voice husky and full of promise.
you barely had time to think about changing your answer before he plunged two thick fingers inside you, curling them just right to hit that spot that made your vision blur. your back arched off the wall, your head falling back as waves of pleasure crashed over you. he pumped his fingers in and out of you, his thumb never leaving your clit, pushing you closer and closer to the edge.
“rafe, i'm—” you couldn’t even finish the sentence, your body trembling as you felt the orgasm build, ready to spill over.
but then he was pulling back just as you were about to fall over the edge. it was maddening, the way he seemed to know exactly how to bring you right to the cusp of pleasure and then deny it. you’d only fucked once before, and it felt like he’d memorize every single thing you liked. every spot that made your toes curl.
“please, let me—”
“you said no, baby” he interrupted, a mocking smile curling on his lips. “you’re not ready.”
his fingers moved with practiced precision, slow and deliberate, stoking the flames of your desire without allowing you any release. every time you felt the pleasure building to its peak, he’d ease off, bringing you back down, only to start all over again.
you clawed at his shoulders, trying to pull him closer, but he held you firm against the wall, his body a solid, unyielding barrier. “please,” you begged again, “i can’t take it.”
“oh, you can,” he scolded, lips brushing against your ear, sending shivers down your spine. “and you will.”
his thumb pressed against your clit, rubbing slow, torturous circles, while his fingers thrust inside you, curling just right to hit that spot that made you see stars. you bucked against his hand, your body pleading for release, but he kept you balanced on that knife’s edge, never letting you tip over. motherfucker.
“I need to come,” you admitted, your voice cracking with desperation. “please, baby. i need to come.”
rafe’s pretty blue eyes darkened with satisfaction at your words, but he still didn’t relent.
instead, he slowed his movements even more, drawing out the pleasure until it was almost unbearable. you writhed against him, your body trembling, every nerve ending on fire.
“you want to come?” he asked, his voice a seductive purr, “that bad, huh?”
“t-this isn’t f-fair.”
“awww, sorry baby."
“fuck, fucking—"
“that’s my girl,” he murmured, his voice filled with approval. “just a lil more, yeah?”
he increased the pace of his fingers, his thumb rubbing faster against your clit, and you felt the pleasure building again, higher and higher, until you were sure you couldn’t take it anymore. but this time, he didn’t stop. this time, he pushed you right to the edge and then, finally, let you fall.
your orgasm crashed over like a train wreck, your body convulsing with the intensity of it. you screamed his name, your nails digging into his shoulders as you clung to him, riding out the waves of pleasure that seemed to go on forever. rafe held you through it, his fingers never stopping, drawing out every last bit of your release until you were a boneless, panting mess in his arms.
“good girl,” he murmured, his voice soft and filled with affection.
he kissed you tenderly, his lips a gentle contrast to the intensity of what you’d just experienced. as you came down from your high, he held you close, his fingers still inside you, his thumb gently stroking your clit, sending aftershocks of pleasure through your body.
you couldn’t find the words to answer, your mind too foggy with pleasure. instead, you just held onto him, your arms wrapped around his neck, your face buried in the crook of his shoulder.
rafe’s fingers slowly withdrew from you, leaving you feeling empty and aching for more. he lifted you gently, carrying you to the bed and laying you down with his casual tenderness. he climbed in beside you, pulling you into his arms, his body warm and solid against yours.
“i love you,” his voice was a soft caress against your ear. “i meant it.”
you looked up at him, “i know,” you whispered, leaning in to kiss him, “i think i love you too.”
“i know.”

The night was calm—eerily so, by Amity Park’s usual standards. Danny Fenton, better known to the ghostly underworld as Danny Phantom, leaned against the brick wall of an alley, munching on a cold burger. His patrol had been uneventful for once, and he was planning to call it a night when the sound of footsteps echoed down the street.
Danny didn’t need ghost sense to know someone was watching him. The footsteps were light, precise, and purposeful—not the aimless shuffling of a drunk or the hesitant steps of a passerby. Whoever it was, they were skilled. His eyes flicked toward the shadows, but he kept his posture casual.
And then the kid stepped into the light.
“Train me,” the boy said, his voice even and steady, though his face betrayed a hint of nervousness.
Danny blinked at him. He couldn’t have been more than sixteen, dressed in black from head to toe with a hood shadowing most of his face. But it wasn’t just his age that gave Danny pause. It was the look in his eyes—sharp, cold, and determined. This kid was on a mission.
“No,” Danny replied flatly, taking another bite of his burger. He’d seen this kind of determination before—he’d been this kind of determination before—and he wasn’t about to let this kid follow in his footsteps. The vigilante life wasn’t just dangerous; it was a one-way ticket to pain, loss, and an early grave. Danny had survived by the skin of his teeth, but he wasn’t about to play Russian roulette with someone else’s life.
The kid didn’t flinch. “Train me.”
Danny sighed. “No.”
He turned and began walking away, hoping the kid would get the hint, but of course, he didn’t. The boy followed him like a shadow, his footsteps silent but deliberate.
“Train me.”
Danny stopped and turned to face him. “You’re really not gonna let this go, are you?”
The kid shook his head. Danny could respect that kind of persistence, even if it was annoying. Still, there was no way he was getting roped into this.
“Look, kid, I don’t know who you are or what you think you’re doing, but trust me, you don’t want this life.”
“Yes, I do,” the boy said firmly. “I’ve trained for years. I know what I’m doing.”
“Yeah?” Danny raised an eyebrow. “And what’s your plan when things go sideways? When you’re outnumbered, outgunned, and one mistake away from getting yourself killed? You think martial arts and stubbornness are gonna save you?”
The boy didn’t answer, but his jaw tightened, and Danny could see the frustration simmering beneath the surface. He sighed again, running a hand through his hair.
“Fine,” he said, crossing his arms. “But we’re doing it my way, got it? First rule: what’s your name?”
The boy straightened, his back rigid with pride. “I am Bruce Wayne.”
Danny froze. Wayne. As in the Wayne family. The rich, fancy folks who owned half the buildings in Gotham. He stared at the kid, suddenly understanding why he was so serious—and why he’d probably been trained in martial arts since he could walk.
“Alright, rule number one,” Danny said, recovering quickly. “When you’re in your vigilante identity, you don’t give people your real name. You need to keep your identities separate. Got it?”
Bruce frowned, clearly not understanding the importance of this, but he nodded.
“Good. Now again—what’s your name?”
The boy hesitated, his brows furrowing as he considered the question. Finally, he squared his shoulders and said, “Batman.”
Danny blinked. Then he blinked again. The kid’s tone was serious—so serious that Danny might have actually been intimidated if not for the fact that his voice cracked halfway through the word.
Danny bit his lip, struggling to hold back a laugh. “Alright, Batsy,” he said, the nickname slipping out before he could stop himself. “Rule number two: no vigilante-ing until you’re twenty. Teenage vigilantes get killed. They make dumb mistakes, and trust me, I know. I was a teenage vigilante, and let me tell you, it’s not worth the risk.”
Bruce’s eyes narrowed. “What? No! I need to protect Gotham. I can’t wait four more years to do that!”
It was the first time Danny had heard any real emotion in his voice. The boy’s face softened, just for a moment, and Danny could see the weight of the world pressing down on his narrow shoulders. He wanted to argue, to convince Danny that he was ready, but Danny shook his head.
“Nope,” he said firmly. “You wait until you’re out of the ‘teen’ range, or I don’t train you. End of discussion. And rule number three, which is kind of an extension of rule number one: don’t give out personal information in your vigilante identity. I know you’re sixteen now, and I wasn’t even trying to get that info out of you.”
Bruce’s lips pressed into a thin line, and a low growl escaped his throat. Danny couldn’t help but think he sounded like a cranky puppy.
“Fine,” Bruce muttered, clearly realizing he wasn’t going to win this argument. But Danny could tell he was already filing everything away, committing the rules to memory. The kid was smart, no doubt about that.
“Good,” Danny said with a grin. “Training starts tomorrow, Baby Bat. Meet me at Nasty Burger. Civvies only.”
Years later, Bruce Wayne stood in the Batcave, his head pounding as he argued with a pint-sized acrobat perched on the Batcomputer.
Bruce opened his mouth to argue, but Danny was already walking away, his laughter echoing down the alley.
“Dick,” Bruce said, his voice low and measured, “you’re not going out there. You’re nine. You wait until you’re twenty, and that’s final.”
Dick Grayson crossed his arms, his small face twisted into a defiant scowl. “But you didn’t wait until you were twenty!”
Bruce pinched the bridge of his nose. “That’s different.”
“No, it’s not!”
Bruce groaned. He was starting to understand how Danny must have felt all those years ago.
Meanwhile, in Amity Park, Danny Fenton paused mid-bite of his burger. A strange sensation washed over him—a tingling at the back of his mind that he hadn’t felt in years.
“I don’t know where or why,” Danny muttered, narrowing his eyes at the distance, “but I just know Baby Bat is doing something dumb again. And I don’t like it.”
It had been years since Danny Fenton had reluctantly taken on a certain sixteen-year-old Bruce Wayne as a trainee. The so-called Baby Bat had been stubborn, determined, and relentless in his pursuit of justice—even if Danny had been equally stubborn in making sure the kid didn’t get himself killed before he turned twenty.
Now, years later, Bruce Wayne had turned into Batman—the Batman. The name was spoken in hushed tones across the criminal underworld and was plastered on the news every other week. Danny couldn’t help but feel proud… and maybe a little exasperated.
He’d done his job. Bruce was alive, competent, and running Gotham like a pro. Danny had thought his days of worrying about Baby Bat were long behind him.
But that thought was obliterated the moment Bruce reached out through a very specific secure channel.
Danny leaned back on the couch in his apartment, half-listening to an old horror movie playing in the background while munching on chips. His ghostly senses were quiet, and for once, life was calm.
That’s when the Bat-symbol flashed on his computer screen.
He groaned loudly, almost spilling his chips. “I knew it. I freaking knew it. I should’ve ignored this brat the first time he said ‘Train me.’”
Reluctantly, Danny got up and opened the line. The face staring back at him was unmistakable—Bruce Wayne, older now, with sharper angles and a jawline that could probably cut glass. Despite the years, Danny immediately recognized the faint glint of determination (and maybe stubbornness) in his eyes. Some things never changed.
“Bruce,” Danny drawled, leaning against his desk. “What do you want now? Did you break something? Or someone? Or are you just here to tell me about how Gotham still sucks?”
“Danny,” Bruce said, his voice as grave as ever. “I need your help.”
Danny squinted at him, skeptical. “Help? With what? You’re literally Batman now. What could you possibly need from me?”
Bruce hesitated for a moment, and Danny almost laughed. He’s nervous. What the hell is going on?
Finally, Bruce spoke. “It’s my family.”
Danny blinked. “Your… family?”
“They’re... difficult,” Bruce admitted begrudgingly, and Danny couldn’t stop himself from laughing. He laughed so hard he had to clutch his sides, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes.
“You? You, the most difficult person I’ve ever met, are complaining about difficult family members?” Danny wheezed. “Oh, this is rich.”
Bruce didn’t look amused. “Danny.”
“Alright, alright,” Danny said, wiping his eyes. “What’s the deal? You’ve got Alfred, right? Let him handle it.”
“This is different,” Bruce said, and Danny could hear the faintest edge of discomfort in his voice. “You’ll see when you get here.”
And with that, the line cut out.
Danny stared at the blank screen for a moment before sighing. “I swear, if he’s gotten himself in over his head again…”
Danny arrived at Wayne Manor via ghost portal the next evening, stepping out of the swirling green vortex in his Phantom form. The grandeur of the place hit him immediately—it was just as ridiculous as he remembered.
He floated down into the Batcave, landing silently behind Bruce, who was reviewing a crime map on the massive Batcomputer.
“Alright, Batsy,” Danny said, his voice echoing in the cave. “What’s the big deal?”
Bruce didn’t even turn. “They’re here.”
Danny was about to ask who when he heard a series of rapid footsteps and loud voices approaching from the tunnels.
“—I told you to stop touching my stuff, Todd!”
“Like I care, Drake!”
“You’re both insufferable,” another voice cut in, colder and sharper.
“Guys, please!” someone else chimed in, clearly exasperated.
And then they were there—a collection of teenagers and young adults, each looking like they belonged in their own action movie.
Danny blinked. “Bruce,” he said slowly, turning to face him. “Why do you have an army of kids?”
Bruce sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose as his children assembled in front of Danny.
“Danny, meet my… family.”
The first to step forward was the oldest—a grinning man in his twenties with an acrobat’s grace and bright, mischievous blue eyes. “Dick Grayson,” he said, holding out a hand. “Nice to meet you.”
Danny shook it, eyeing him warily. “The original Robin, huh? Bruce talks about you sometimes. Says you’re the ‘good one.’”
Dick smirked. “Good to know I’m still the favorite.”
“Only because you don’t give me headaches,” Bruce muttered.
The next kid to step forward was a young man with a white streak in his dark hair, a leather jacket, and an air of barely-restrained chaos. He didn’t offer a handshake.
“Jason Todd,” he said, his voice rough. “And you’re the guy who taught Bruce how to nag, huh?”
Danny snorted. “And you’re the one who probably causes most of his headaches.”
Jason smirked. “Damn right.”
The third was a lanky teen with sharp eyes and a smartphone glued to his hand. “Tim Drake,” he said, not looking up from the screen.
“You’re the tech guy, I’m guessing?” Danny said.
Tim nodded distractedly. “You could say that.”
Next was a young boy, no older than ten, with a scowl that could probably scare grown men. He crossed his arms and glared at Danny.
“Damian Wayne,” he said. “Biological son.”
Danny raised an eyebrow. “Ah, the little terror Bruce never shut up about.”
Damian bristled. “I am no terror—”
“Yes, you are,” everyone said in unison.
Danny turned to Bruce, his arms crossed. “So… what do you need my help with? Because it looks like you’ve got your hands full.”
Bruce sighed heavily. “They don’t listen to me. Half the time, they’re arguing. The other half, they’re trying to outsmart each other—or me.”
“And?” Danny prompted.
“And,” Bruce said reluctantly, “I thought you could help… mediate.”
Danny blinked. Then he started laughing again. “You want me to babysit your army of vigilantes?”
“It’s not babysitting,” Bruce growled.
But it absolutely was.
Over the next few days, Danny found himself in the middle of Bat-family antics. Whether it was Jason and Tim bickering over whose tech was better, Dick trying to wrangle everyone for a “team-building exercise,” or Damian threatening to fight literally everyone, Danny was beginning to realize why Bruce looked so perpetually exhausted.
But for all the chaos, there was a sense of family here that Danny couldn’t help but admire. It reminded him of his own ragtag group back in Amity—Sam, Tucker, Jazz, even Vlad in a weird way.
Eventually, Danny pulled Bruce aside. “You know,” he said, “for all your complaining, you’ve built something pretty amazing here. They’re not just your team—they’re your family.”
Bruce looked at his kids, a rare flicker of softness crossing his face. “I know,” he said quietly.
Danny grinned. “Well, you’re still a pain in the ass, but I think you’ve done alright, Batsy.”
And so, Danny’s unexpected reunion with Bruce turned into a week-long crash course in dealing with the next generation of vigilantes. By the time he left, he was exhausted—but also a little proud.
As he stepped back through his portal, he shook his head with a smile.
“Baby Bat really did grow up, huh?”
Somewhere in the Batcave, Bruce smirked.

Warnings: alcohol, music? idiots in love, not a happy end but I'd say there's hope, feels, slight thirst?

a/n: Merry Christmas, y'all! I hope this lil' present I have for you manages to put a smile on your faces! 🤗🎄
This oneshot is kinda based on that song:

"Must I really attend this ridiculous Christmas party of that arrogant imbecile, calling himself a-" "Brother," Thor cut Loki off rebukingly. "Enough. Behave yourself, I beg of you. I know you don't wish to attend, but it will be good for you. You have to show interest or Fury might question your probation - once more," the blond Asgardian chided. "It's for your best and you know it. Now come on, get dressed."
Loki rolled his eyes, but deep down knew that his brother was - unfortunately - right. With a soft, annoyed groan he lifted himself off of the comfortable beanbag in his reading corner and closed the book shut he held in his hands. Thor smiled like a Cheshire cat - proud of having convinced his stubborn sibling.
With the snap of Loki's fingers engulfed him an emerald green haze and replaced the sweatpants and t-shirt with black slacks, shiny black dress shoes and a very formfitting shirt - also black. "There. Are you happy now, brother?"
The god of thunder's smile did not cease; one meaty hand reaching out to clap his brother rather harshly on the shoulder. "Yes, I am. Let us join the party!" Thor already marched towards the main door. "I bet Lady Y/N will be present as well," he added with a small wink and stomped out of Loki's apartment. The raven haired god rolled his eyes once again, "Oaf." but couldn't shake the nervous feeling and anticipation flame up inside him. If you were truly going to be there... His heart skipped a beat at the mere thought. You were the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes upon. A goddess. An angel walking the earth. And your sweet, kind and selfless personality... How you conquered his heart without even knowing...
"Brother!" "Oh, for Norns sake, I am coming!"
"Okay, what do you think?" You stepped out of your bathroom; taking a deep breath. You slowly twirled in a circle then; showing off the dress you chose to wear for Tony's Christmas party to Nat and Wanda. Red - fitting the topic.
Both your best friend's jaws dropped. You giggled. "Good or horrible?" "Neither, babes. This is... stunningly sexy, yet cute." Wanda nodded; agreeing with the Russian spy. "Absolutely." You looked down yourself. "Yeah? Really? It's not too much?" "No. Not if you try to attract the attention of a certain man - or should I say god?" You reached over and threw a pillow your friend's way; hitting her square on the stomach. "Shut up, Nat! He isn't interested in me - and we all know that." You walked back inside the bathroom to check a last time on your hair, but actually desperately tried to hide the blush on your face - because Natasha was right.
While you tried to flee, exchanged the Widow a knowing look with the Scarlet Witch; both women suppressing their giggles. They knew. Of course, they knew.
The party was already in full swing, as you stepped through the opened doors of Tony's penthouse apartment. The band in the corner - dressed in fancy golden shimmering suits played some classical Christmas songs, but also normal music. You saw waiters paving their ways through the crowd of Avengers, rich people and several hot shots of the American government, SHIELD and the military. They held glasses of champagne and fancy little snacks on trays. Some people already occupied the dance floor, others were chatting or nursing drink after drink at the festively decorated bar. It smelled like expensive alcohol, rich cologne and remnants of cold smoke. It was awful.
You were an Avenger and had every right to attend this party - and yet you felt so out of place.
"Come on, babes. Let's get a drink and have some fun," Natasha's voice ripped you out of your thoughts; feeling her tug you after her. You didn't even protest and followed your best friends; greeting Steve, Tony, Pepper and Bucky on the way.
Thor and Loki were seated on a creme white leather sofa across the room; close to the huge French door, which led to the roof garden. Both men had a drink in their hands. While the blond god chatted enthusiastically with Dr. Jane Foster and a few other... scientists, Loki found himself utterly bored; having to witness his brother's lousy attempts at flirting. He rolled his eyes subtly, and brought the glass in his hand to his lips in order to take a sip of the alcoholic liquid - and almost choked.
His eyes had travelled across the spacious apartment, and had landed directly on you. The raven haired god hadn't spotted you before, but now that he did, he felt like he could barely breathe. You wore a stunningly beautiful red dress, which highlighted your curves to perfection and suited your whole appearance. Loki couldn't help but to stare; distracted by your looks and the sweet smile upon your lips, which managed to turn his knees into jelly.
"You should ask her to dance, you know." Thor's quietened voice suddenly urged to his ears. He noticed how close his brother had slid over to him on the sofa; his gaze directed on you as well. Loki scoffed and played it cool; downing the rest of his Martini. "Why in Odin's name should I do that, brother? I can tell there already is a line with men wanting to dance with her. See all those rich sycophants eye-fucking her?" He jutted his head at a group of men in tuxedos; standing only a few bar tables away. Thor's eyes followed. "I bet they'd do everything to get her attention and lure her into their 'honey-trap'. She doesn't need another one."
"Why don't you make sure to get her before they can, brother? Are you truly willing to lose the Lady of your interest to such vile men?" The raven haired god stood up from the sofa, "You forget that I am no hero, Thor." and walked away without another word; straight to the bar. The blond god only shook his head in disbelief.
The evening progressed; alcohol flew and caused the party to get wilder. By now, almost everybody had fun on the makeshift dance floor - no matter the song. Loki, though, was still sitting alone at the bar; glad that nobody had approached him. After all, he had just attended the party because it was the 'best for him' and good for his reputation. Which reputation? The god asked himself; almost starting to chuckle. He hated it to be here and yet he hadn't left.
The reason was simple...
He found himself unable to avert his eyes from you. He tried, but failed gloriously. Loki watched you dance with one man after the other - all of them besuited billionaire playboys; each of them trying to flatter and impress you more. As if it was a competition. He could already feel the bile rising in his throat by the mere look at them. This wasn't the proper way to gain the attention of a lady. Typical mortal men... It disgusted him.
Another feeling he also couldn't shake was jealousy... Yes, he was jealous of that unworthy mortal scum touching you in such an intimate way. Dancing was an art. The expression of feelings and status. Obviously not on Midgard...
What Loki didn't see, though, with being blinded by jealousy and frustration, was that you absolutely didn't enjoy yourself. You hated these... machos just as much as Loki, and yet you were too kind to recline their ask for a dance and your attention.
"Save her." A feminine, quite familiar voice urged to his ears through the music. The god frowned and slowly turned on his bar stool to face the 'intruder'. "What are you talking about, Miss Romanoff?" The Widow's gaze drifted over to you, then back to Loki. "Don't act innocent, Laufeyson. You know exactly what I'm talking about," Nat urged him on just like his brother. She gave the god a smile alongside a wink, ordered another drink and vanished in the crowd again.
A groan of distress left the god's lips; his pointer finger dancing over his bottom lip in thought.
Again he let his eyes wander over to you. His gaze lingered and he felt his chest tightened. No, he couldn't. Swallowing hard, he averted his eyes once again and redirected his attention to the bartender. "Another, please." The friendly man behind the counter nodded and replaced his empty glass with a full one.
Once Loki had downed this drink as well, he stood up with a sigh and turned to finally leave - crashing into another body. Out of instinct, his arms reached out to steady the person he just almost ran over. "Apologies, I-" When the god lifted his gaze and found himself staring into your mesmerising Y/E/C eyes, his breath hitched. "Y-Y/N..." Loki desperately tried to keep it together; clearing his throat. "I did not mean to run into you. Again, my apologies." He didn't notice that his palms were still gently gripping your upper arms - but you did; having a hard time to hide the blush on your cheeks.
"N-No! No need to apologise. I-I mean, I should've watched where I'm going as well, so..." You smiled and tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear - a nervous habit. "It's fine, really." That was a lie. In fact, nothing was fine. Your heart was running a marathon; the sudden encounter caused your feelings to run wild.
Loki gave you a small smile as well, "Very well." and cleared his throat, as he noticed that he was still holding you; quickly letting go of you.
Your skin tingled where he had touched you, and you couldn't deny that you were already longing for his touch again.
An awkward moment of silence between the two of you passed, but before any of you could say something, the lights in the apartment got suddenly dimmed and the music changed.
I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight I've never seen you shine so bright, mhm-hmm
Some might say it gave off romantic vibes. Major romantic vibes...
From the corner of your eyes you could see couples starting to sway together to the famous soft rock song.
I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance They're looking for a little romance, given half a chance
Loki swallowed hard and licked his lips; heart threatening to break free from his ribcage. "Dance with me," the god suddenly uttered; mouth working faster than his brain could think. "Please." Your gaze lifted to meet his again - and feared you were going to drown in those beautiful blues. "Yes." It was your heart speaking.
The handsome god gave you another soft smile, before he gently reached for your hand and took a few steps backwards; pulling you gently with him and away from the bar.
And I have never seen that dress you're wearing Or the highlights in your hair that catch your eyes I have been blind
Loki's hand found your waist then; his other hand engulfing your smaller one. You bit your lip and placed your free hand on his black shirt clad shoulder. Together, you started to sway to the music.
The lady in red Is dancing with me, cheek to cheek
It felt so different. Different from any other man you had danced with tonight. It felt right. How gentle, yet firm Loki's touch was. How he guided you over the dance floor. The way his hand held yours. It was overwhelming.
Almost shyly you lifted your head; eyes locking with those endless blues of his. And once more you felt yourself drowning. No words were exchanged. Neither of you had to. You could read it on the god's face; saw it in his eyes.
The dozens of other people faded into a blur around you. It was just you and Loki. Nobody else existed in that very moment.
You could feel yourself closing the distance between you further; your head resting against his firm shoulder. Loki's heart skipped several beats - unbeknownst to you. And he certainly did not reject the invitation. He let the hand on your waist slowly glide to rest on the small of your back; pushing you even closer against his body. You were so close now that you could smell his intoxicating cologne with every breath you took. Leather, charred wood and something citrusy. It caused your head to spin.
You could also feel his definitely unsteady breath against the burning hot skin of your cheek - and you could swear you could still smell the remnants of alcohol. Martini?
Without even noticing had your gaze dropped to his lips; wondering how they would feel against yours. Wondering how he'd taste.
Perhaps Loki was able to read your mind. Or he could feel it to. Whatever it was, it urged him on to lower his head; nose grazing your cheek as his lips hovered over yours. You feared that your heart was going to explode; anticipation and want coursing through your veins.
Loki was about to finally close the remaining distance between the two of you, when the lighting got turned up again; the brightness almost blinding - and the moment between you and the god bursting like a bubble. The both of you could do nothing but blink; now standing an arm length away form each other again.
"I-I'm sorry," Loki muttered and before you could say something, he had vanished in the crowd of people around you. With your mouth slightly agape you stared a hole in the floor where the god had been standing just a few seconds ago; stunned. Your brain was having a hard time to process what just happened. Hence, you didn't even know what exactly happened...
Loki cursed under his breath as he stumbled into his dark, empty apartment in the Avengers tower. He was such a fool. How could he be so stupid to just leave you standing there? He could've had all he ever wanted - and now he was sitting on the floor; back pressed against the frame of his bed, black curls a mess and black shirt halfway undone, with empty hands. And why? All because the oh so brave and arrogant princely womaniser had gotten cold feet. Seducing and charming a woman wasn't a problem. Seducing and charming the woman he loved seemed to be impossible.
Loki ran his hands over his face with a groan. He was an idiotic imbecile.

Up In the Clouds Ch.4

synopsis: you're friends arguing reaches a breaking point... for you. what will you do when you find out the real reason they've been fighting?
prev ← → next
⚝content: sugusato x f!reader, sfw, satosugu arguing, but they're arguing over youuuu
⚝wc: 1.4k

Suguru and Satoru always fought. From the year you’d known the duo, that much was obvious. Petty arguments and stupid disagreements were rampant in your trio. But, at the end of the day—usually forced by you—they would make up. Today, however, there was a disquieting air around them, an unfamiliar tension that gnawed at your peace of mind.
You three were in the courtyard for lunch, a place usually filled with the sounds of your laughter. You and Suguru ate bentos while Satoru dug into a sugary donut.
But something was... different.
No annoying quips from Satoru.
No heavy sighs from Suguru.
Just complete and utter… silence.
The courtyard, bathed in the soft afternoon light, felt oddly still. The rustling of leaves and distant chatter of other students did nothing to alleviate the growing unease. You shifted in your seat, the silence pressing down on you like a weight.
“Did Yaga yell at you two or something?”
Suguru glanced up, his hazelnut-colored eyes narrowing as he finally spoke. “No… it’s not that.”
Satoru scoffed, rolling his eyes dramatically behind his dark sunglasses. “Yaga yelling would be wayy easier to deal with than Mr. Perfect.”
The raven-haired teen’s jaw clenched. “Oh, I’m Mr. Perfect now? That’s rich coming from someone who thinks they know everything, Satoru.”
“At least I don’t try to control every little thing” Satoru shot back, his words muffled by the mouthful of donut. ”Not everything has to be done your way, Suguru.”
“Maybe if you used your head a bit more, we wouldn’t end up in half the messes we do,” Suguru retorted, his tone icy.
You sighed, feeling like a mediator between two stubborn children.
“Guys, seriously, what’s going on? This is ridiculous.”
“Ridiculous is Suguru thinking he can tell me what to do.” Satoru snapped, his voice tinged with frustration.
Finally, you’d had enough. The frustration and tension had reached a breaking point. Without saying a word, you stood up, grabbed your lunch, and turned to leave. The soft thud of your bento box as you placed it into your bag seemed to echo in the silence that followed.
Satoru’s blue eyes widened as he noticed you standing. “Wait, where are you going?”
Suguru’s head snapped towards you, his expression a mix of surprise and concern. “What—?”
But you were already walking away, your footsteps brisk and determined.
“Great, just great! Now ya made her leave because you’re too scared to tell her the truth!”
Suguru’s face flushed with anger. “Me? You’re the one who turned this into a contest and made it impossible for me to even tell her how I feel!”
Satoru shot a glare at his best friend, his voice laced with bitter irritation.
“Well… I don’t care!”
A week. Seven long days without your best friends. They avoided each other entirely, which was pretty hard to do considering how small the school was.
The hallways almost fell deafening silent without the pair’s obnoxious laughter echoing through. According to Nanami it was “The best week of my life”. But for you, it was a slow descent into madness. The absence of your two best guys, who were always there to bug you and share in the chaos, was unbearable.
Hell, even Yaga was starting to get worried.
Shoko wasn’t much help. Completely jaded by the routine of arguments and breakups between the second years, she shrugged off the situation with a nonchalant wave of her hand. “They’ll make up… eventually.”
You were never one to just sit back and let situations play out. So you whipped out your phone to set your plan in motion.
✧ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✦✧✦ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✧✧ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✦✧✦ ▬▭▬✧ ▬▭▬
(Y/N) (Y/N) Hey, movie tn? My place. Movie night 2nite? Sugu Toru Sounds great. I’ll bring the movie. Heading 2 the store! You sigh in relief. They WERE going to make up today, whether they liked it or not. Your phone buzzes again. Sugu Toru Hey… just us right? Me n you right (Y/N)? (Y/N) Yep! Just us!
✧ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✦✧✦ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✧✧ ▬▭▬ ▬▭▬ ✦✧✦ ▬▭▬✧ ▬▭▬
You prepared your dorm, fluffing out the pillows, grabbing your softest blankets. Hiding any sharp objects. The soft glow from the tv and your fairy lights set a cozy atmosphere. You only hoped that it would help soften the tension between them.
Knock Knock
Your ears perk up at the noise, you stood up, smoothing your clothes as if they could somehow help soothe the growing knot of anxiety in your stomach. As you opened the door you saw Suguru, leaned casually against the doorframe, his raven hair falling in soft waves around his face. His kind eyes tinged with nervousness.
“Hey Suguru!” Your voice warm as you greet him, stepping aside to let the taller boy in. He settled into his favorite spot, grabbing the blanket he’d left here one too many times. You settled next to him as he pulled out four DVDs showing you the selection.
“I haven’t seen any of these yet actually.” He says looking at you.
As you both discussed the movies, you heard another knock at the door. You quickly stood up, hoping Suguru wouldn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.
“Hmm? Shoko Coming?”
“Not… exactly.” You laugh nervously as your hand slowly reaches for the doorknob. As the door inches open you see Satoru, his white hair slightly damp from his (never-ever missed 8pm Shower). He greets you with a smile, striding into dorm. Immediate irritation flashed across his face when he made eye contact with Suguru.
Their eyes narrow at each other, then at you.
“What’s HE doing here?”
You place your hands on your hips; side-eyeing Satoru to sit down. He begrudgingly takes a seat next to the raven-haired teen, pouting.
“We are watching a movie. And you’re both staying.” Your normally soft voice, firm as you glare at the two older teens.
They both shoot each other glares before sighing. You had won… for now. You took your place, right in between them.
You tried your hardest to just watch the movie, but it was so boring. Usually Suguru picked out pretty decent movies, but this documentary was NOT a decent movie. You stole glances at your friends; if you weren’t so pissed off at them you would’ve been blushing at the prospect of being sat between two attractive guys.
Their close proximity made your heart race. You could feel the heat radiating from their bodies, and every small movement seemed amplified in the quiet room. Your hand reached into the popcorn bucket. As the pair saw your hand go in they both reached in with you, hoping to touch you.
Both flinching as their hands brushed each other’s instead of yours. They shot each other a glare before turning their attention back to the TV. A minute passes before Satoru speaks.
“I could’ve picked a better movie with my eyes closed.” The white-haired teen mumbles, shoving popcorn into his mouth.
“Just watch the movie, Satoru.” Suguru replied with an exasperated groan, though his eyes never left the screen.
“This shit is gonna bore me to death.”
“That isn’t such a bad idea—”
You sigh heavily, grabbing the remote to pause the movie. You stand up, looking down at the two sorcerers.
“Alright. What the hell’s going on with you two?” You demanded
They both looked away, avoiding eye contact. Satoru crossed his arms, pouting even more, while Suguru ran his hand through his hair, clearly frustrated.
You tap your foot, glaring down expectantly.
Suguru glanced at Satoru, their eyes meeting in a brief, intense exchange. Satoru’s nod was almost imperceptible, but Suguru seemed to take it as a cue. He drew a shaky breath, his voice barely above a whisper.
“(Y/N)...”
“We’ve been acting like this because, well..”
“We’re both...” Satoru continued.
“In love with you.” Suguru finished, his voice barely above a whisper.
You blinked, stunned by the confession. The room felt suffocating, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife. You stared at them, trying to process their words. Your breath hitched, struggling to keep up with the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside you. It felt like a storm was raging within the confines of the small room, each thunderous heartbeat echoing off the walls.
“You’re… what?” you finally managed to say, your voice trembling.
Satoru stood up, his piercing blue eyes locked onto yours with an intensity that left you breathless. “We’re in love with you, (Y/N). Both of us.”
Suguru’s nod was slow, almost hesitant.
“And it’s tearing us apart.”
