feeling mildly insane over stacker pentecost because is he ever not the fixed point? do we ever get a moment where he isn't being something for someone?
#unscientific aside#another thing im going to have to pay attention to on rewatch...#they took the movie off netflix just as i was getting obsessed again. criminal#i have the dvd but to watch the dvd i have to remember how to work the dvd player#anyway. character with a hole in the centre. we all know who he is but who is he??#hes always the character i struggle most with when im trying to make kaiju-free aus because who is he without the ppdc#he IS the ppdc. thats his life#also. there may very well be a moment and i just cant think of it offhand#one of his scenes with mako? or when hes talking to raleigh about his past? but im not sure even then#maybe the shoe scene#like thats him recognizing that shes ready to be a pilot & that hes been overprotective#the part that makes me insane is when he shows up in his suit before pitfall and mako confronts him#because it's a goodbye and it's all genuine. but also. what he says is exactly what he needs to say to make sure mako does her job#and then he gets up in front of everybody and says exactly what he needs to say to make sure everyone else does their job#he is Marshall Pentecost and idk if he ever stops being marshall pentecost for one second the whole movie#if anyone thinks im way off base here though id like to hear what you think#im still figuring out my opinions on this. hence the need for yet another rewatch at some point lol
