I… have something I think you might like," Thanatos said, crouching down behind the counter and sliding out the crate of stuff he deemed too good to be out on the floor. Stuff he didn't want landing in undeserving hands, into ears that wouldn't adequately appreciate them. He poked through the collection of cassettes, 8-tracks, and 45s until he found what he was looking for, then rose up and slid the cassette tape across the counter.

Megaera peered down at the worn jewel case with keen interest. The off-white cassette inside had the words Wings of Nemesis - 40 Lashes Demo scrawled over it in black marker.

The mere existence of the thing had practically been an urban legend. Nemesis didn't make many copies of her work apart from the few she had sent to local radio stations and promoters, and while you could probably find a few bootleg copies of subpar quality at a secondhand shop in the area, the masters–where you could actually still hear the highs–were impossibly hard to find.

And when it came to Wings of Nemesis, you needed the highs.

Megaera's lips curved into a grin, and her eyes swept back up to meet his. "How'd you get a hold of this one?" She asked, plucking it off the counter with hot pink nails.

He shrugged, ignoring the sudden dryness in his throat. "I have my sources."

He'd spotted it in a box Charon and Hermes and brought back from their last flea market haul–tossed among the stuff they'd dismissed as junk. The real treasures, as far as they were concerned, were the collection of Beatles, Stones, and T. Rex records in pristine condition that they could sell at a high margin. The demo recordings of a local garage rock band that split up before they could get signed was, in their words, "not worth the space it would take up on the shelf."

He'd started his little collection with the intention of proving them wrong. That the right person would be happy to spend a hefty chunk of change on these little artifacts of the local scene. But the reality was that he was too reluctant to part with most of them, to the point that the only people he ever sold any of them to were Megaera, her sisters, or the people in bands he saw often enough to have some rapport with–the latter only because Alecto had run her mouth about him hooking her up with a Gaea's Revenge record a while back. Nonetheless, he never pushed his wares; only relented when someone asked for something by name.

Unless that someone was Megaera.

"How much you want for it?" She asked.

Thanatos looked down at the counter and drummed his fingers, trying to hide his blush. "It's… yours."

Hades characters listed oldest to youngest according to me

Based on a combination of canonical text, myths, and outright headcanon. I'll try to note which is which.

Chaos - I mean, obviously.

Nyx - I imagine she's co-generational with (maybe slightly older than?) Uranus and Gaia, who are parents to the titans. (Or, to use the language of the game, I suppose, "the rest of the titans")

Charon - idk it just feels right. In Japanese, Hypnos refers to Charon as an older brother. (Thanatos, curiously, doesn't use kinship terms for Charon at all in Japanese.)

Aphrodite - I am committed with unwavering firmness to the headcanon that Aphrodite, like the Furies, is born of Uranus's castration rather than Zeus x the titaness Dione. You can't change my mind on this, don't try. I think that mortals may believe the Zeus/Dione story, though, given that Achilles calls Demeter the eldest upon Olympus.*

Megaera - First of the Furies... but Aphrodite is older. Given that I perceive Aphrodite as a kind of estranged sister to the Furies, this seems like the kind of thing that would annoy Meg to no end.

Tisiphone - I feel like outside of Hades Game I more frequently see the Furies listed with Tisiphone first, then Megaera, then Alecto. If that's meant to indicate something about their mythological ages, it doesn't seem to be the case in the game.

Alecto - Megaera calls Alecto her "youngest sister."

Thanatos - The Japanese text of the game makes Thanatos elder than Hypnos. By the way, I place the Furies as older than Thanatos&Hypnos mostly because Meg will use a nickname for Than but Than will only call Meg by her full name, which I've chosen to interpret as an age/respect thing.

Hypnos

Demeter - Achilles calls her the eldest upon Olympus, which I know I'm contradicting by having Aphrodite up above; see my note above&below on Aphrodite for all of that. That she is the eldest of the first-gen Olympians seems a fairly solid belief. In Japanese, she refers to Hera as older at one point, but unlike my surprise at the Japanese making Than older than the Furies, I think this is genuinely counterfactual to the reality of the game (and I actually F10'ed it).

Hades - game-canonically and myth-canonically the eldest of the brothers.

Poseidon - and doesn't he just have middle brother syndrome?

Zeus - game-canonically and myth-canonically the youngest of the first-generation Olympians, although he can be considered "eldest" in the sense that the other five mythcanonically spent their first years of life in their father's stomach.

Cerberus - Echidna's children were born around the time of the Gigantomachy, I believe...? I'm fuzzy on this bit.

Persephone - Placed here just because Demeter is older than the rest, though I'm not firmly committed to the idea that she's the oldest of the second-gen Olympians.

Athena - Second-gen Olympians are ordered based on feelings in my heart and nothing else.

Artemis

Hermes

Dionysus - Honestly in Hades Game canon Hermes feels a little younger, but mythologically it makes more sense to me personally to have Dio be the youngest of the Olympians, so.

Dusa - As Perseus apparently predates Theseus & the Minotaur. It seems that she didn't start working at the House until well after Zagreus's birth, however.

Asterius

Theseus - obviously co-generational with Asterius, but probably a bit younger?

Skelly (Odysseus) - Skelly's approximately here even if he is "Schelemeus," as the strongest statement in that direction is that Asterius recognizes the name, but this is MY post and I've put him here because I think he's Odysseus.

Patroclus - usually older than Achilles by a few good years.

Achilles - was already famous on Olympus before Persephone left it, but apparently was not in the House at the time, as he never met her until the postgame. Which indicates something spectacularly dreadful about how long Patroclus's shade may have been standing in line in Erebus.

Sisyphus - nb that Eurydice, Orpheus, and Sisyphus all seem to have met Persephone when they first came to the Underworld. For the sake of how I envision things, I'd actually love it if Sisyphus were much earlier in the whole business (an early Example of what happens if you cross the Olympians), but given that he apparently was in the Underworld during Persephone's original tenure, and Persephone's original tenure was long enough after the Trojan War that Achilles was already a well-known hero before said tenure began......

Eurydice - I place Eurydice as older than Orpheus just because she's a nymph.

Orpheus - one thing I just remembered is that while Persephone was present when Orpheus attempted to retrieve Eurydice, she is surprised to find that he's been made court musician while she was out--perhaps meaning that Orpheus died after she left the Underworld.

Zagreus - wow, he's baby! Like I did not set out to make this post to prove that he's baby but apparently he really is baby.

* Trying to follow the game's style of reconciling disparate myths, my thinking is essentially that Zeus likes to lie and say that everyone on Olympus is related to him. Aphrodite rolls her eyes and plays along for the prestige; similar stories exist about Persephone, which is "why the myths we in the real world know say that Persephone is Zeus's daughter" (in much the same way that the in-game "Hymn to Zagreus" is "why the myths we know say that Zagreus and Dionysus are the same god"), but Demeter is less fond of those rumors and contradicts them at every opportunity.

Smiling, Medusa runs her hands over her body showing off her green dress that draws attention to her curves." Oh, this old thing? I'm going to go out with Alecto. She said she wanted to talk to me about something.” This causes Steve to pay more attention.” Isn’t she one of the Furies?’’ He asks curiously.

Nodding, Medusa puts a hand on her hip.’’ Yes. Why?’’ She demands narrowing her eyes causing Steve to blush.’’ No reason. I just want you to be careful.’’ He quickly says, not wanting it to seem as if he’s trying to be nosey. This draws a small smirk from Medusa. Walking over to Steve, she casually sits on his lap causing his face to redden even more and tense up as she wraps an arm around his neck.” Aww. Is little Stevie worried about me?” She teases running her fingers through his hair. Sam watches a bit jealous but mostly amused as Steve stammers to try and find the right words.” W-Well you are apart of this investigation. It wouldn’t be good if you got hurt.’’

Medusa giggles giving Steve a kiss on the corner of his mouth as Euryale enters the room, wearing a similar dress to her sister’s, a wide smile appearing on her face as she sees her sister in Steve’s lap.’’ Ahem. I hope I’m not interrupting anything.’’ She says innocently as Medusa sends her a glare before standing.’’ No. I was just about to leave.” She looks down at Steve smiling.’’ We can continue this after I get back.’’ She teases winking at Sam and blowing Steve a kiss before walking over to Euryale and grabbing her hand, pulling her out of the room with a sway in her hips. Sam chuckles as their heels echo down the hallway.’’ Looks like someone likes you.” Steve stands trying to avoid eye contact with his friend.’’ I’m going to train.’’ He says quickly before hurrying out of the room trying to discreetly fix his pants. What was this woman doing to him.

“I don’t know what’s going on. The girls and I haven’t had any action in the past couple months, and even torturing damned souls is beginning to become boring.’‘ Alecto sighs before taking a sip of her orange juice. Medusa and Euryale had decided to take her out for breakfast at this cafe that the sisters rather enjoyed. As they listen to their friend, they can’t help but feel that something is off.’‘ So neither you nor Megaera or Tisiphone have been to the mortal world in months?’‘ Euryale asks in awe. The Furies always have good business because humans are always doing something stupid.

Shaking her head, Alecto looks at her friends in confusion.’’ No. What’s going on?’’ Medusa looks at Euryale who nods.’’ Someone is killing children and legacies of the gods...And they’re framing us. We considered that one of you had gone rogue, but we know you take no orders from any of the gods except Hades and Persephone.’’ Alecto’s jaw drops as she looks between the sisters.’’ Are you serious? You’d know if we had done this. You know we don’t hold back.’’ 

Euryale shakes her head.’’ We know. Whoever this is is obviously trying to start a war between what looks to be your master, Zeus, and Poseidon.’’ Thinking, Alecto frowns.’’ We’ve been busy in the Underworld these past couple months since we’ve had nothing to do. Hades reported a sudden increase in the souls he was getting. Thanatos wasn’t happy, because apparently those souls were not supposed to be there at that appointed time. Maybe that’s why Hades hasn’t been allowing anyone to visit the Underworld lately?’’

Medusa leans forward in curiosity.’’ You mean he cut off anyone from coming to the Underworld?’ She asks in surprise. Alecto nods.” No one gets in or out besides us, Thanatos, Hermes, or the king and queen themselves.’’ Alecto states firmly. Euryale frowns.’’ Then who the Had-’’ She pauses and quickly fixes her question as Alecto gives her a look.’’ Who the hell is doing this? There’s a number of gods, major and minor, and monsters who would love to see the gods tear each other apart. Zeus will have half, if not all of Olympus on his side. Poseidon has freaking Atlantis! Hades is king and god of the Underworld. Whoever is doing this is crazy. A war between the big three would throw the world into chaos. Maybe even destroy it.’’

The three share a look before groaning in unison.’’ She wouldn’t dare!’’ Alecto growls.’’ Not after what she pulled with that stupid apple!’’ Medusa moves her braids out of her face as she huffs.’’ Oh, yes she would. She caused an entire war, remember?’’ Alecto rolls her eyes.’’ Don’t remind me. What are we gonna do?’’ Euryale looks at Medusa who looks less than happy.’’ We have to alert the gods. If we don’t, all hell is gonna break loose and we are most likely gonna take the fall for it.’’ 

Alecto stands putting some money on the table for the waitress, the sisters having paid for their food already.’’ I’ll let Hades and Persephone know what you’ve told me...The other gods won’t be so easy.’’ Medusa nods.’’ We know, but we have to try before this gets out of hand.’’ She says as she and Euryale stand getting ready to leave.’’ Be careful, Alecto.’’ Euryale says softly worried for their friends.’’ You do the same. If anything happens, you come to the Underworld. I mean it.’’ Alecto states before the three part ways with Alecto heading home and the sister going back to the compound.

‘‘That manipulative bitch!’‘ Stheno exclaims as she listens to her sisters.’‘ Wait! So you guys know who’s doing this?’‘ Natasha asks incredulously. These three work fast. Medusa looks at the team, her arms crossed as a small hiss comes from her.’‘ Eris. The goddess of chaos.That bitch loves causing trouble. It’s entertainment for her.’‘ ‘‘Isn’t she the reason why the Trojan War started in the first place? What would a war between the gods accomplish?’‘ Bruce asks confused.’‘ A war between the gods literally means they destroy each other. Or the world.’‘ Euryale explains shrugging.’‘ It doesn’t effect us, but the rest of the world....Definitely wouldn’t be good  for you.’‘

‘‘So what do we do? Do the gods know?’‘ Steve questions causing Medusa to shake her head.’‘ Alecto is talking with Hades and Persephone. The other gods will be a bit harder to get along with.’‘ ‘‘It’s not like they’ll listen to us. We’re nothing but monsters in their eyes.’‘ Stheno mutters frowning. ‘‘Then we’ll make them listen!’‘ Medusa snaps her hair coming to life.’‘ Eris is smart, and she’s done this in a way that either we or our friends will be blamed. Zeus won’t give a shit about who did it! He will look for someone to punish and why look for the truth when we’re right here? We get their attention and then we make them listen to us. There is no other option.’‘ Medusa hisses her snakes nuzzling her face as if trying to comfort her. She and her sisters have already been through too much because gods refuse to listen. She will not allow her family to be punished again for something that had nothing to do with them.

New Hades Update Out Now, Adds New Area And Final Boss

Supergiant Games has released a new update for Hades. Still in early access, the game receives a bunch of content in this update–including new weapons and powers as well as gameplay changes to certain enemies and items.

This latest patch is Hades’ sixth major update, adding a brand-new location at the very edge of the Underworld for you to explore. “We’re actively working on [Hades] based on our plans and your feedback,” Supergiant Games wrote in the patch notes. “We expect to keep adding features, characters, weapons, foes, powers, environments, and more, while expanding the story and fine-tuning all aspects of the experience.”

Supergiant Games hasn’t announced when Hades will leave early access, but this latest update suggests the game could possibly officially release soon. The new area, Temple of Styx, adds more story elements and includes the game’s final battle, so Hades now has both a beginning and an end. Other notable highlights in the update include gameplay reworks, such as the ability to call upon divine aid more often and the addition of new Boons and “Duo” Boons. The update also adds two new pieces of music to the game’s soundtrack.

Hades is an Epic Games Store exclusive, offered for free on the PC digital storefront from day one as an incentive to download the launcher. The full patch notes for Hades’ latest update can be found below.
