Tijdens een wandeling door Dordrecht konden we een blik naar binnen werpen in de verbouwing van de Bonifatiuskerk aan de Wijnhaven. Maar de blik naar binnen verraadde meteen de tweeledige voorgeschiedenis. Achter in zagen we een beschadigd, scheefhangend Christusbeeld. In 1826 opende hier namelijk een Rooms-Katholiek parochie de deuren. Na de ontkerkelijking voegde de Sint-Bonifatiusparochie zich bij de Sint-Anhoniusparochie in de stad en verloor het gebouw zijn kerkelijke functie. Dichterbij de straatkant zagen we de restanten van de rol die de kerk had van tot 2013, als het bekende Bibelot; een muziekcentrum en poppodium. Momenteel wordt de kerk omgebouwd tot luxe woning- en appartementencomplex. —————— While walking through the beautiful city of Dordrecht, we passed an ongoing renovation at the Sint-Bonifatiuschurch. This church was opened in 1826 and served as one of the Roman-Catholic churches of Dordrecht. After the Second World War religious activity declined and the parish left the church. It then became a well known music venue, named Bibelot. When we looked inside both parts of the buildings history could be recognized. You can see a damaged Jesus on the cross hanging in the background. But on the foreground the corridors of the music venue are visible.
