I watch videos from people who practice witchcraft using herbs only used by their specific ancestral herbalcraft. I'm not opposed to that in theory but I think more care should be taken to teaching people how to interact with their local environment. Know the local flora, grow endangered plants, develop upg for local alternatives. Roger F. Horne's work can be useful in this way.

Finally jarred up the loose lavender - this is just the bits that came loose and were collected or caught during the drying process. There's still 2 to 3 times as much to be shaken free of the stems, and I am out of large jars. #thedragonsscale #dragonsscaleoccult #witch #herbalcrafts #lavender https://www.instagram.com/p/B3NbIUYjvNK/?igshid=xx59o7e83xd9

Daucus carota (wild carrot)  growing wild in the Greek islands! Read more below about the plant. Learn more about our online courses on herbal medicine & aromatherapy in jointheflow.net Discover my books on bodywork and more: amzn.to/3xhaNey Like the cultivated carrot, the D. carota root is edible while young, but it quickly becomes too woody to consume. The flowers are sometimes battered and fried. The leaves and seeds are also edible. An essential oil can be produced from the seed. D. carota bears a close resemblance to poison hemlock, and the leaves of the wild carrot may cause phytophotodermatitis, so caution should also be used when handling the plant. The seeds and flowers have been used as a method of contraception and an abortifacient for centuries. If used as a dyestuff, the flowers give a creamy, off-white color. D. carota, when freshly cut, will draw or change color depending on the color of the water in which it is held. This effect is only visible on the "head" or flower of the plant. Carnations also exhibit this effect. This occurrence is a popular science demonstration in grade school.  Photo taken by me, all rights reserved. #ethnobotany #daucuscarota #apiaceae #wildcarrot #queenannslace #aromatherapyrocks #essentialoilswork #planthealing #phytochemistry #plantchemistry #herbcrafting #herbalcrafting #healingherbs #apothecary #healingherbs #medicinalplants #greekherbs #myherbalstudies #herbalistsofinstagram #botany #botanicalmedicine #wildfood #wildfoodlove #foraging #survivalskills #primitiveskills #herbaleducation #eatweeds Text credit: Wikipedia (at Greece) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgheRe1oD_t/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So besides ornamental plants (just look at that color!) I bought some herbs. Because live plants make me happy, and what household wouldn’t benefit from some sage, rosemary and rue?!?  Three of the four plants will probably live outside, by the backdoor. It’s always good to have sage and rue guarding and entrance to the house! Plus I can get them into bigger containers so they have the space to grow. One of the rosemary plants will go and live with the Mary statue in the garden. Once they are a bit stronger I will take some cuttings and see how they’ll do (hoping to grow more).  One of the rosemary plants will live in the kitchen. Not only convenient for cooking (nothing beats fresh rosemary!) but also for protection and clearing. Since the kitchen is such an important place to keep healthy and happy!  And a bit of live green brings fresh energy to any room it is in. Perhaps also the sage will accompany the rosemary in the kitchen. I don’t know, so many options!

Bloop x5!
Send “Bloop” to my inbox and I’ll spout a random fun fact about one of my OCs
-boops-
1: Though unintended, in hindsight, Riven’s splitting into Summer and Winter directly parallels with Meira’s splitting from Viti.
2: Viti will always make faster friends with Summer (King) than with Winter.
3: Kou is usually adverse to grapefruits, but will eat a slice if offered.
4: Magnolia (the sapling) takes to herbalcraft/witchery after leaving the court.
5: Rene may or may not be allergic to roses.

BlackSage Bodywork and Botanicals - Yarrow!
Tumblr media
This is Yarrow! Yarrow is amazing!
It is otherwise known as Achillea Millefolium and has been used medicinally since ancient times. It was found in a Neanderthal burial site in Iraq dating back to around 60,000 BC! It is a perennial and commonly grows to 3ft high in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Yarrow is a versatile ally as it can work with almost every system of the body ♡ A few medicinal uses are as follows: Yarrow is used externally to help stop or slow down bleeding from cuts and scrapes when applied as a compress or a poultice. The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory nature, as well as astringent tannins and resins, make it a wonder to work with! I have used it on myself to heal major wounds and can attest to the effectiveness. Yarrow also works with your body internally to help with ailments such as: hemorrhaging, to lower high blood pressure by dilating peripheral blood vessels, as a treatment to feverish conditions at the start of a cold or flu, to help with cramps (as an antispasmodic and as it has sterols), and yarrow is often used to treat digestive complaints and disorders. As a flower essence it is phenomenal as Yarrow has been richly endowed with spiritual properties. The essence is great for enforcing boundaries, psychic protection, and keeping the negative outside influences at bay. I could go on and on about this powerful plant ally, but I will let you absorb this as a start. Hopefully this inspires you to explore the world around you! I am currently making yarrow flower essence to carry in the studio ♡♡♡ #yarrow #blacksage #botanicals #medicinalplantseries #plantally#denver #massage #massagetherapist #herbalcrafter#blacksagebodyworks #bodywork #plantmedicine #herbal #herbalist#herbalmedicine #medicinal #capitolhill #colorado
