We don’t appreciate enough how GRRM made House Targaryen the poster children for his de/reconstruction of the fantasy chosen family trope, and we don’t appreciate how Jon and Dany are the main lens through which he does that. House Targaryen is fantasy on steroids—magic swords, magic look, magic lineage, perhaps the most magic pet one could have in the genre, and a magic destiny that’s specific to them and only them. There’s a foretold magical conflict and its main hero (as many would think), “the prince that was promised”, specifically has to be a Targaryen. This House’s history is so rich, but from a genre perspective, it is Aerys II’s reign and Robert’s Rebellion that’s the most interesting to analyze. Aerys isn’t special himself, but he is to sire the future savior of the world. Then Rhaegar is born and tragic as they are, all the signs point to him being the promised messiah. And Rhaegar becomes THE fantasy hero on steroids. He’s the perfect heir to House Targaryen’s legacy because not only is he to be the best of them, and many think he would have been had he lived, but he is the most perfect manifestation of House Targaryen as the personification of fantasy. There’s absolutely a point to him living and dying as the heir, the inheritor, the eternal symbol of what could have been of the Targaryen’s old glory.

Part of Rhaegar’s legacy extends to his son Aegon. Aegon had everything Rhaegar didn’t. A comet was seen at his conception—and this is an most important herald for the chosen one. So he is given a song, “the song of ice and fire”, and a king’s name to match his status as the new messiah. He didn’t live long but he inherited Rhaegar’s look in his youth too; the fantasy protagonist look. But Aegon died before he could be the hero.

You see Jon and Dany as chosen ones only works so well because of their House’s history, especially as (anti)parallels to Rhaegar and Aegon. They are the unexpected inheritors and challengers to their house’s legacy but in different ways.

Dany is the most immediate and obvious heir. There’s a beauty to her being the last of them and thus, the one bearing the entire house’s legacy. Dany is THE Targaryen. And in being that, she becomes THE hero. She’s got the hero’s look, the hero’s magic and destiny, and better yet, she got the hero’s sword and pet all in one. And, she’s legitimate! She is House Targaryen. But there’s a problem….shes a girl. And we all know House Targaryen’s history with girls.

Maester Aemon’s “no one ever looked for a girl” is quickly becoming my favorite Dany-related quote because it pretty much encapsulates her entire arc, especially as an inheritor to her house’s legacy. The hero they died knowing and expecting was the boy: first Rhaegar, then Aegon. But father and son are dead. Yet Daenerys lives. She inherits everything else they did and more! The Targaryens tried and failed to bring dragons back, but it was Dany who ultimately did it.

Now, Jon is Dany but flipped. From a meta point of view, he’s more fantasy protagonist than she is. He’s a boy, he’s got a big magic sword that he can swing about, and he’s perhaps fantasy’s most prolific trope in action—the magical hidden prince. But within this story, GRRM flips these two characters. Jon’s fantasy protag-ness doesn’t go away, it just morphs into something else. Unlike Dany, he may be a boy and he may have a sword, but he lacks literally everything else. He doesn’t have the look, his magic powers are from his other family, so is his magic pet, and his magic destiny has thus far developed outside his immediate association with House Targaryen. Dany is “what if Rhaegar was a girl?”, but we can’t even begin to ask these types of questions with Jon because there’s so much that precludes him from the fantasy hero role in story. He’s Rhaegar’s heir…but he doesn’t look like him…and he’s not even legitimate. So what do we do now?

GRRM destroyed his fantasy protag house and decided to build up again from the ground up, but did so by challenging the two most critical points—primogeniture and exceptionalism. With Dany, he makes a girl the Targaryen’s outward successor. This works really well because the Targaryens have a history of denying their female heirs. But now what’s left of them is a girl, and she is literally everything they could have hoped for. And she is a a reflection of her house, but her arc has at many times seen her be the antithesis of her ancestors. And I can’t help but think of the oncoming meta-textual showdown between her and Young Griff. On the surface Young Griff, a boy, is the preferred heir. But Dany is, in truth, the one.

Jon is interesting because, in my view, he challenges the Targaryen idea of exceptionalism. He’s easily the fantasy protagonist from the outside looking in. But he doesn’t have the Targaryen name, nor does he have the look. He has the blood, but what makes him special is that it is mixed with the other major fantasy protagonist house’s blood—he’s special in that he’s a hybrid. And this is interesting because if Aegon conquered the seven kingdoms because of a prophecy regarding him or one of his princely descendants, it’s quite the twist to have this messiah not even be a Targaryen prince (not in name anyway). That’s why all the hand wringing around “is Jon legitimate?” or “no one cares because he doesn’t look like Rhaegar” really isn’t the point. The point is for Jon to be the manifestation of the hero—the king—outside of that narrow framework. And if he succeeds, then GRRM would absolutely still be subverting prophecy and genre conventions.

There’s something to Jon and Dany being born as or after House Targaryen falls. House Targaryen has no crown, no throne, and their prophetic mandate has been usurped. But GRRM is so attached to them, and he certainly wants to rebuild them and hold fantasy to account. But to do so, everything we know about the Targaryens, everything the Targaryens knew about themselves, has to be challenged and put to the test by the personifications of all that a Targaryen hero couldn’t be: a girl, and a bastard.

Random thing I’ve been thinking about for months — Cosmo and Wanda’s default disguises actually tell you a lot about the respective series they’re in

So in the original series, Timmy’s problems were external. His parents were super neglectful, his babysitter was abusive, his teacher was intentionally harsh, he struggled in school, and while he had friends, they were all targets of bullying. A real world kid in this situation would, naturally, feel incredibly isolated, with no one to turn to, and, given how he was surrounded by adults who sucked, no reason to turn to any of them anyway. Since Timmy was basically meant to be someone the “average” kid watching could relate to— he was specifically identified as “average” in the theme song— then kids in his situation (backed into a corner with no adults to help) probably would react with some degree of :/ if suddenly a pair of reasonable adults popped up and fixed things for him, because that wasn’t something a kid like him would feel like they could have access to.

(Side note— feel like. C&W do take adult human disguises a few times in the OG series, and ANW states that if they had used that “adult authority” instead of getting up to hijinx, they probably would’ve helped Timmy’s situation change and improve, at least a little)

Plus, Cosmo and Wanda’s default disguises being not just pets, but pets that are famous for “not doing much” is actually pretty genius. Goldfish are famously seen as disposable, cheap, and are often mistreated because “they’ll die soon anyway.” They’re often neglected. They’re given away without a thought. And how many of us have ourselves or had a family member just their corpses down the toilet instead if burying them, without even considering that that’s actually probably not good for your pipes, as if they weren’t part of the family as pets?

While I doubt anyone watching the show as a kid, or even writing for it, thought about this, there’s something poetic about giving the neglected, mistreated kid a famously neglected, mistreated pet, especially when you see how much that kid comes to love and feel loved by said “pets”

Hazel, comparatively, has almost exclusively internal problems — yes she was briefly bullied in her new school, yes she had to face a lot of stressful changes in rapid succession, but she has everything Timmy didn’t: teachers that care, parents that put in effort, friends that stand up for her as much as she stands up for them. She even enters a friend-situationship with the school bully

And yet she still needs Cosmo and Wanda — she gets stuck in her head, she spirals, she’s impulsive. Having loving parents who put an effort into supporting you doesn’t do much when your brain tells you to sneak past them and run away in a city you’ve never been to without a proper plan, especially if they try to give you space to process things and don’t realize you’re gone until hours later

Her problems aren’t actively made worse by the adults/authority figures around her. In fact, she trusts adults, she likes being around them

So… Cosmo and Wanda present themselves as adults when out and about with her. Specifically, while there is basically always a degree of power imbalance between adults and kids, they’re adults that technically have no inherent authority over her. They aren’t her parents or teachers, and they aren’t necessarily acting as her babysitters (they certainly aren’t ever shown being paid to look after her by her parents). They’re the neighbors, an older retired couple with at least one son old enough to live on his own. If, say, Hazel ever got in trouble, she wouldn’t ever be in trouble with them, and they have no legal control over her. If, say, a kid where like Hazel and needed help from an adult, but didn’t feel comfortable going to a guardian or teacher for whatever reason, people like Cosmo and Wanda — trustworthy, experienced adults who live nearby, who she isn’t actually forced to deal with, and who can’t technically legally loophole their way into having a route to continuously abuse their authority like a teacher/guardian/official caretaker could — would be a godsend

(Note — before anyone Um Actuallys, yes, adults that fit this description could still cause harm to a kid. But again, they’re specifically adults she doesn’t have to automatically grant authority to, and therefore can’t necessarily get away with abuse the same way legal guardians or teachers can)

Cosmo and Wanda are basically a backup set of Trustworthy Adults for Hazel to turn to when she doesn’t feel like she can go to her parents or teachers

(Note — this could also be why Peri doesn’t have a Human Disguise: Dev doesn’t have the same trust or faith in adults that Hazel does, and therefore a kid who relates to Dev probably also doesn’t have that trust or faith either. Peri’s default disguise seems to be a pair of headphones— an object that Dev could easily replace if he breaks or loses it and that most people wouldn’t be emotionally attached to. Shoot, Irep’s seems to be a pin — a decoration that’s easily replaced or swapped out, something I know is easy to lose, and like. Raise your hand if you’ve ever accidentally stabbed yourself with one)

There’s been a major cultural shift in stranger danger and attitudes around unattended children over the last 30 years.

When the OG show was coming out, I’m pretty sure Stranger Danger was a rising concern, but a lot of children’s media from around/before that time just had kids wandering around without any adult supervision. Shoot, I remember picking up old copies of Judy Moody or watching old episodes of Arthur, and the main character just walk to the store alone. They buy candy or get ice cream or get haircuts and none of their parents are anywhere to be seen. I know there was still a degree of comfort with kids walking to their friends houses or just being left home alone for a while

Timmy walking around in public, maybe being followed by a pair of pink and green squirrels or carrying colorful pencils but otherwise adultless, probably wouldn’t raise as many eyebrows back then

Nowadays, I can’t think of many parents who’d be comfortable even letting their kid hangout in the front yard unsupervised

When Hazel is out in public without her parents or teachers around, that’s when we see Cosmo and Wanda in their human disguises. The show basically goes out of its way to almost entirely avoid having a scene where a ten year old has no adult supervision while out in regular public spaces. Pretty sure off the top of my head the only times Cosmo and Wanda aren’t in disguise are

A) when Hazel and Dev were doing their homework hunt (note- the buddy system could apply here as Hazel and Dev stayed by each others sides for the most part)

B) when Crocker were chancing them all (note-they were in an enclosed building and her parents were also in the building, even if they were separated) and

C) when they were all pretending to be teenagers (pretty sure most of the parents I’ve interacted with are fine with a teenager being out in public alone, even if only for a short period of time, plus a) all three of them were being teenagers together, so buddy system again and b) Cosmo and Wand were visibly shown to be concerned and distressed when separated from Hazel)

Also, ANW has Cosmo and Wanda specifically introduce themselves to Hazel’s parents, specifically inform them of the fact that they’re also parents, and specifically shows Marcus and Angela getting along with them. If you think about it, ANW is presenting Cosmo and Wanda as trustworthy adults specifically to the parents — they’re meant to come off as the type of adults you’d be relatively comfortable-to-outright trusting around your kids. Angela and Marcus aren’t neglectful or oblivious like Timmy’s parents could be, so it makes sense that they’d probably not be okay with their young kid running around town unsupervised and would want the people supervising their daughter to be adults they felt they could trust

Timmy lives in a house that his parents presumably own, while Hazel lives in an apartment that her parents presumably rent. Apartments/rented homes usually have some sort of rule around pets, while if you own your own home who’s stopping you from getting pets? There’s a possibility that Hazel might live in a pet free apartment or her parents would have to pay pet rent (which you know she’d feel guilty about) or something

He may work with his wife somewhere down the line in his career. (Cancer & Capricorn). Many people will judge him for his nature early on which may or may not be hindered due to others perception as he grows older. He could change that image going forward, which may be shocking to some people who want him to remain the same.

every reference to animals I can think of in ALNST

aka: I'm in grief and this is how I cope. by making yet another ALNST analysis post. (hey so uh I started writing this post right after wiege happened and forgot about it and finished it just now.)

first off, I think it's fair to start off with the most obvious animal that I and many other people have compared the human pets to: dogs. 

first of all: the collars.

shock collars have been used as a way to discipline your dog to prevent behaviors that you don't want them to do. this is called (AP psychology time!) positive punishment, where you give an "undesirable consequence after an unwanted behavior to make it less appealing". I'm not entirely sure what the collars in ALNST do, as we never actually see anyone get punished via the collar. however, till is shown having a collar over his mouth, neck, and his entire body:

so that leads me to believe that some shock or pressure thing is enacted by the collars. additionally, the collars are also shown to flash green when the pet is in a calm state and flash red when the pet is in a stressed state.

the second thing that makes me compare the human pets to dogs is this image of sua and her owner:

where sua and her "sisters" are all on leashes, all dressed in identically frilly white dresses and bonnets. this reminds me of the stereotypical rich woman, who is often depicted with having a bazillion identical fluffy white Pomeranians purely for the aesthetic. 

(not all of these are pomeranians by the way I just couldn't' find a better photo with a rich woman with a lot of white dogs)

this also leads me into dog pageant shows, where dogs are compared against each other to "a judge's mental image of the ideal breed type as outlined in the individual breed's breed standard". sua is described as having "the smallest face in 50th ANAKT",

meaning that she is definitely the epitome for human pets.

the third thing that relates the human pets to dogs is the fact that luka canonically has a shitload of clones of himself.

people have already compared this to dog breeding, where breeders "mate selected dogs with the intention of maintaining or producing specific qualities and characteristics". luka was made with the intention to be the perfect human pet. bred dogs, especially pugs, also have health defects as a result of limited genetic diversity. luka is shown to have numerous health issues, which further ties into this.

there are other examples that I'll briefly touch on, like how Ivan and till's play fighting is similar to how dogs fight in real life:

and how someone once compared this image of mizi going insane to a feral dog and how she was going to be put down by segyein, much like how rabid dogs are put down:

and how dogs that are considered "undesirable" are sold at discounted prices, much like till:

there's also the fact that all six of our main protagonists have special talents (sua: mental math, mizi: scary stories, till: flower crowns, Ivan: starting fire with rocks, luka: splits, hyuna: impersonations), much like how dogs can be trained to do tricks. perhaps the segyein trained the human pets to have defining "talents" to make them unique and endear them to a wider audience.

now the next pet that I immediately think of when I think of human pets: birds.

obviously, the first thing that connects human pets to birds is the fact that they both sing, and that humans are apparently the only beings in the universe that can sing, much like how specific birds are the only animals capable of human-ish speech. 

there's also the imagery of birds being trapped in cages, and how birds are trained to sing for their human owners. when hyuna escapes her "cage", she sings for others of her own species, not her owners.

I mention hyuna especially because there's this line in all-in:

which I think speaks for itself.

there's also the idea of mating songs amongst birds. in this case, obviously my clematis and cure and wiege are the mating songs for human pets, the songs that show their love and devotion to each other.

the final animal that I think of when I think of human pets: cows.

now, this one might be a weird one, but hear me out.

cows are branded by their owners so they can be identified. what do all anakt children have on them?

tattoos so they can be identified by the segyein.

there's also some more cow references with io, till's mother. io is the name of a princess who was turned into a cow, more about that in @blackhoisincat's posts here:

plenty more cow imagery and greek mythology references there.

additionally, it seems like io and baby till were kept in cages, similar to CAFOS (AP environmental science time!), which are "Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs), where animals are kept and raised in confinement". humans, besides being viewed as pets, are also commodities. there's also some theories that human meat is lab grown as a food source for segyein, further contributing to this theory if that's true.

and here's one final cow reference. remember this two headed alien?

as I said previously, this alien reminded me of orthrus, the two-headed dog who guarded the *cattle* of geryon. humans are valuable, valuable enough that segyein don't want them escaping.

and that's all I have to say about animals. I have to study for pre-calculus now.

Namjoon wasn't lying when he said you're stuck with them for the time being. After the party, you were officially welcomed into the Kim sibling company if not family; their parents lived outside Seoul so you saw them two mainly. You had no idea what insane tales of your hardship and bravery Minji kept telling her brother, but he started treating you even better, offering to send his driver to take you to nearby towns you hadn't visited yet. He then extended several personal favors to you, including but not limited by, providing food and medicine when you caught Covid in December. You feared Minji told Namjoon you were into him since she has forced it out of you. But so far, there were thankfully no advances. Your heart had no capacity for love now; the drama that this kind of relationship would bring deterred you greatly. Again, you preferred your relatively stable and peaceful life. You were immensely grateful that not many things changed after you met - gasp! - BTS. You heard they went on mini-tour in Asia, then returned; Minji shared some news with you and you even followed Namjoon on Instagram.

You asked Minji once about her affair with Yoongi:

"How's your rebound going?"

Minji looked quite happy.

"Ha, so good".

Then she was sad.

"I haven't told Nam yet. I don't know how he'll react... he is his hyung, you know... I'm afraid he'll break his beautiful face if he finds out".

"You said they were brothers..."

She tragically waved her hand and thus, the conversation was over. She found it too hard to talk about, for some reason. Her sleeping with one of her brother's bestest friends, what can go wrong? You shrugged internally and let it go.

In February Hoseok had his birthday and he inconveniently recalled your name, so you got an invitation card. He was the guy who danced all the time, you remembered. By then, you learned a little more about all the guys, of course, but not too much, not to spoil your relation to them in reality. You knew he clapped furiously when he laughed, that he laughed a lot, that he was one of the best dancers in South Korea, and that he adored brands, and brands adored him. You found you enjoyed some of his songs, specifically, Blue Side. It was very fitting for a spring. And spring was almost upon Seoul.

Visiting his birthday was very similar to the September celebration, only it was held on land. Large studio equipped with musical instruments turned that party into an improvised show. Namjoon was being classy and mature again, you brought a piece of art as a present again, Taehyung pecked you with his 'no worries' again, Jimin was gentle again, and so on. Yoongi started that party a little happier than on the boat which you attributed to his hatred of water although he never proclaimed having it. The party was alright. All danced, Minji sang as they played instruments, and Hoseok was showing off his new choreo. A year ago you'd think it all sounded like a fever dream, but they were, in fact, normal actual people, and drank the same way.

You found yourself tucked in the corner of the room as usual, a party hater label bright and neon on your forehead. Yoongi would join you once in a while, a similar label highlighting his high royal cheekbones, and you'd chat peacefully about music, and work, and weather. Then he'd set off and return: have you eaten? He was a good guy, actually. Another stupid thing, you realized he is not actually unattractive. God knows what's gotten into you earlier, when you just met him. Maybe he opened up a little and you found how gentle he is with all things around him. The feature you took for aloofness was caution, probably. You kept remembering Minji's words. They had to be careful with new people.

February came and went, and spring jolted the city with life. Breathing was sweet and easy, and you were in good mood almost every day, which was a new thing. Minji helped a lot. You got to see each other every week at least once, and this groundedness set you on the right course for healing.

One day in late March you got a call from her, and her voice was soaking with that sound that always made the hair on the back of your neck stand.

"You like animals, right?" she asked.

"Of course. I love animals".

"Dogs?" it wasn't Minji's voice anymore. You listened.

"I love dogs?" you half-questioned. It was a statement, but you were a little taken aback.

"Yoongi wants to ask you for a favor", her voice, giggling, got literally slapped away from the phone, and you could hear it.

"Yoongi?"

"Hi".

You settled on the couch and observed your living room.

"Minji said you really love animals and currently don't have a pet, and I", he sighed deeply, like a poet that's staring down the rocky waterfall he's about to jump, "have a problem. I don't have anybody to stay with my dog, and we're leaving for a... mini-tour".

"A dog?!" was all you heard. The thought of dog swept all other thoughts from your head, puff, they're gone. A dog, for yourself?

"Yes!" you yelled, while Yoongi was trying to say something else. You heard Minji's laughter next to him.

"I told you she'd agree with no questions asked".

"Listen lady, when someone offers me a dog, I say yes", you stated firmly, "it's a dog. How long do you need?"

"Well", Yoongi was now laughing as well, his voice like low vibration in your phone, "we're away for three weeks, if that's okay with you..."

"Can you make it longer?"

Another chuckle.

"How many dogs?"

"Just one".

"Do you have more?"

You gave them something to laugh about. It was a good day for you. You loved dogs, end of story. They, of course, clarified that Minji herself was allergic, so she couldn't babysit the angel named Holly. Yoongi's parents were three hours away from Seoul, and his best friend was leaving the city for a holiday. You didn't need all this information, but accepted it.

"We should probably meet up", you suggested after a little thought. "The dog has to see the sitter and the owner together to get used to me".

"Yes", Yoongi sounded impressed, "you've done this before?"

"Once. I am great with dogs. I will protect her with my life and let her sleep in my bed".

"It's a boy though".

"Holly is a boy?"

He sighed,

"Yes, why? It's a unisex name".

You didn't think it was, but let it go. You started thinking out loud about the logistics of it. You decided to meet up a couple of times before Yoongi turns into SUGA and retreats into the world of touring.

"That's a big favor, thank you", he said again. You retorted,

"I am not trying to be funny, I really love animals".

"Thank you", his voice was smiling.

As Yoongi hung up, he threw himself back on his chair, and the chair moaned with pleasure.

Minji was clutching her fists, eyebrows high on her forehead.

"I told you. Easy! High five!"

Yoongi felt too drained psychologically to high five her.

"Don't you find her a little too eager?"

"That means what? That she might want to see you? Shouldn't it be a good sign?"

As she usually did, Minji suddenly got up and started looking for her bag. Yoongi pointed to it with his finger, it lay on the sofa next to his broken guitar. The studio felt completely deoxygenated when this girl was in; he wanted to open a window but there was none.

"I gotta go", she clutched her bag in her sharp nails and hopped in place.

Yoongi narrowed his eyes.

"Blushing. Where are you going?"

"Pfft. None of your business, hyung. If more than one brother starts bossing me around, I'll jump off a roof".

"You got a boyfriend?" he guessed, just slightly alarmed.

"And if I do, then what?"

Minji got caught into the trap of his serious, attentive eyes.

"Is he normal?"

"He is great, actually. You'll love him..."

As he heard what he needed, he raised his hand and started shaking it in the air.

"No more. I got it. None of my business".

Minji smiled happily.

"I hope she can stand your hundred year old grandpa attitude. Try to tone it down with her".

He pressed his finger against his lips, begging her to be quiet.

"Discharged".

"Thank you, Jagi Minji, for helping me to come up with a plan to get with my crush", she said in a tiny voice. Yoongi gave her a death stare but did say:

"Thank you. Now please leave, Minji-ah".

He then fell forwards again, onto his keyboard.

It was almost exactly a year since you met Minji, and you ruminated about it while waiting for Yoongi and Holly next to a coffeeshop. He was running a little late, but it didn't matter; your mind was far away, at the beginning of this friend-love story, on a day like this when cherries didn't start losing their petals yet, and the whole city cleaned itself, or seemed to be cleaner, just for a while, for this magical period of spring. You breathed with full chest, blinking in the sunlight, feeling absolutely lucky standing next to these trees, your feet firm on the dark gray asphalt with the types of symbols you understood now, and you looked at the city which you also understood now, and you loved it.

You noticed Yoongi's broad frame in a white tee with jean jacket on top, with a black cap sitting on his head and hiding half of his face. He had a little milk chocolate toy poodle on a leash, the dog was not just running, it was hopping every other step, clearly just exactly as happy about spring as you were. The second you made sure it was really them, you stepped forward and then watched the dog, while Yoongi watched you.

"Hey. Sorry we're late. He pooped on a maejanamu next to our house, and I had to..." Yoongi changed his hand that held the leash as Holly started hopping to and fro, following your hands that played with his snoot. "Get it off the leaves".

You chuckled as imagination painted a picture for you.

"That's okay. Look at the weather. I am absolutely in love with your dog".

"I guess it's not that hard for a dog to enfatuate you".

His overly careful pronunciation contrasted with his advanced vocabulary.

You stood up and and faced him, seeing his weekend face, hair tucked behind the ears and under the cap, the brim of it shielding the eyes that were too recognizable for a busy street.

"Are you okay here? Should we go somewhere?" you asked. He nodded gratefully, but his reply didn't match:

"No, it's okay. Do you want coffee? I need an Americano".

You entered the coffeeshop together and he pulled the leash gently, asking Holly to stay closer. You noticed the dog was relatively well-behaved. He didn't really want to adhere to Yoongi's tugs, but had a habit of doing so. Holly was really busy sniffing your whole leg.

"Is it tiring?" you pressed, curious and a little sorrowful about his bowed head. He probably didn't notice anymore? His shoulders were down, shrunken into him like he was trying to seem smaller. And his chin was down, even when he smiled.

"Hiding your face?"

"I think..." he paused to look at the menu and raised his head a little. "The world sees my face too often. I'd prefer to be seen less", ironic smile was curving his lips. This shade of pink, and their plumpness reminded you of Minji and you stopped staring.

"What do you want?" he asked in his usual low, indifferent voice. Without the glamour of black wavy strands of hair falling on his face he seemed more manly, and way more comfortable to be around.

"Do you want to take the leash?" he asked as you walked down the street. The route led you into the square and he passed the leash to you, securing the subtle heaviness of Holly's body into your care. He watched you and the dog carefully, saying nothing, just walking next to you.

"You like spring?" he asked simply, in his funny accent, making a slight pause before 'spring', putting there an invisible comma with his teeth.

"I've never seen such a beautiful spring anywhere else. Last year I was already here for it. It just feels like waking up from a coma", you confessed. Then you remembered:

"You had a birthday recently, right?"

He closed his eyes shortly, like it was something embarrassing.

"Yeah".

"Why didn't you invite me? I've only collected Hoseok and Namjoon so far".

He chuckled dryly.

"I don't celebrate?"

"Why not?"

Yoongi sucked the air through his teeth and you understood he didn't want this to be spoken about.

"You don't have to say", you added quickly. Holly tugged on the leash, and, to spare him of the need of being nice, you asked,

"How lenient should I be with him?"

"He is very spoiled", Yoongi responded, and then smiled to himself. "Don't let him sit on your head".

So you talked a little about his habits, and how he eats, and what he doesn't like eating, and what he needs to eat but will pretend like it's poison to avoid eating.

"He is six", Yoongi was explaining, "so at this point he needs a good diet. So, only the food I'll bring, and maybe a piece of sausage from the table once a week".

Holly was running in front of you carefree, constantly getting distracted and trying to get you to break the route. His fluffy butt was very funny, you almost couldn't see it without laughing because of how he moved his slim tail. Twice to the left, once to the right.

"I should've taken him to groomer"", Yoongi sighed, "but I forgot".

"It's okay. I'll brush him".

"You really like dogs unconditionally, don't you?" he grinned.

"All animals. Hate humans. Will never do humansitting".

Yoongi nodded the same way he did when he was memorizing. Like an AI, updating memory.

"I'll ask Minji to babysit my pet human then. If she's not allergic".

There was about a fraction of annoyance to what he said, and you instantly felt put off by the idea of their entanglements.

"So, idols do have humans as pets then", you concluded darkly. Like before, Yoongi caught on your joke and supported it effortlessly.

"People wanna call them slaves for some reason. I feed them, so what's the problem, you know?"

You nodded solemnly.

You made a circle around the square, breathing the air deeply, like it was therapy. By the end of it Yoongi was even humming something under his breath. Then you passed him the leash. Your coffee cup was empty, so you threw it into the bin; he had vacuumed his the minute after you left the coffeeshop. And thus, the first assimilation procedure was over. You gave each other a respectful bow, he took Holly and left. You looked at the pair as they were crossing the road, from under the pink canopy, and thought, how swell that Minji has him. Because if she didn't, you'd fall for him, and that would've been a whole lot of drama.

It's a good thing Yoongi drank iced Americano because they were late again, and this time, around ten minutes. He apologized profusely, while cars sped up parallel to you, and the evening city hummed and grumbled like a giant waking up. The tip of pink shone like a lonely star on top of Seoul Tower. Yoongi bowed almost ninety degrees and you had to grab him by the shoulder.

"Sorry", he said again, and your hands got interlocked, exchanging things, him, pushing the leash into your palm and you, trying to hand him a coffee.

He asked you about four times if it was okay to meet later because he was at the studio, or whatever they called that huge building in the center, all day. You had nothing better to do after work, and it wasn't night yet. People were getting off work and heading to Itaewon. You went into the opposite direction, searching for quiet parks.

"Where's yours?" he asked.

"You bought me coffee last time", you noted from the ground, where you squatted, letting Holly sniff your face.

"You don't owe me anything", he said simply.

He had his black cap on, but the T-shirt changed. Otherwise, Yoongi was the same. Quiet, polite and with double bottom. Relieved of Holly's insignificant pull, he massaged his right shoulder.

"Training too much?" you chuckled.

He dropped his hand like a spell was broken, his face blank.

"Dammit. I had an surgery on this shoulder like a century ago. It hasn't hurt in years, and I still have the habit of fixing it. I don't know why".

"Oh, sorry. Maybe it's phantom pain? It stays sometimes".

You know yours did. He shook his head,

"No, not really".

He then went silent for a minute.

"When I was nineteen, I got hit by a car. One second I'm on my bike, and the next, I am under the wheel, and it's, how do you say, squeezing my shoulder out".

"Oh, shit", you said quickly. His face stayed unaffected, clearly, he wasn't torn about it anymore.

You guided Holly closer to yourself, where the light reflected from the river was making the path lighter.

"I think it tore off a little, so it did hurt for many years. But after operation it's very strong. I lift eighty".

You made the face you learnt here, from the locals: Ö.

Yoongi chuckled, as his hand flew up to his face, then, to the temple.

"Yes, I'm very strong".

"You look strong, but lifting eighty with one shoulder..."

He threw his hands up and squeezed his eyes shut:

"No, with both, with both".

"Oh. That's still cool. I lift... papers at the university, and groceries".

He grinned, showing his gums.

"You should come over", you switched, "for Holly to see you in my house".

It sounded a little awkward. You meant exactly what you said, no undertones, but still, it sounded out of the blue, and out of place. It was true though.

"Take Minji with you if you want".

"No, why", he protested, "I'll just come over when I bring Holly before I leave. I'll help you unpack his things and stuff".

"Yes, good thinking".

You turned to look at the river, gorgeous in blue and golden light of the tall buildings on the other side. You shut close and didn't speak about anything personal for the rest of the short walk. It wasn't longer than twenty minutes as you circled one section of the park, but it felt like hours, in some celestial type of way. You've never gone to parks after dark because you didn't have a male friend before. Now, the familiar paths and ponds looked different, like you crossed into the shadow realm, and the cherry petals shone blue in the unlit thickets. Yoongi rolled his eyes tiredly and looked at the ascending moon, his twin, in the sky. Your friendly instinct was to ask, tired? like he always asked you if you've eaten, but you bit your tongue. You gave the leash to him and he thanked you for the coffee.

"You live far? I should call you a taxi", he offered.

"No, it's not far away and not that late", you shook your head. Your hands formed a protective shield between you two, and he caved in.

"Okay. Be careful".

His short words, delicate like the petals, were simple and transparent, and it made you mad for some reason.

The good news were that he'd leave soon and you won't have to see him for three weeks. You also might hallucinate things sometimes so you cleared your head before he visited you with the dog.

You watched him kick off his shoes at the door and give no indication he thinks anything at all about your, frankly, cute apartment. You had no shame about it. The space was used well, the living room leading into the kitchen on one side and bedroom, on the other. Bedroom even looked like it belonged to a different dwelling, and you liked it. The wallpaper wasn't dark green, but beige-yellow, uninvasive, and the big window gave view of overhead train rails. That was the only downside: the sound of trains.

"Let's wash him", Yoongi suggested, quite joyfully.

As you strode into the bathroom, Holly kicking in his arms, you asked,

"Ready for the tour?"

"Uh-huh. Jimin- ah, Holly!"

The dog tried to jump out of the bath tub, and he pointed his finger at him. Poodle sat down immediately.

"You'll have to listen to noona Y/N. We're washing".

You turned on the water and you brushed shoulders, cosying up to the tub.

"Jimin?"

"Jimin strained his ankle, as always. If he doesn't, we know there will be trouble during one of the shows. Once he didn't injure himself before a world tour, and the stage collapsed under us on the first night".

You didn't know where to gasp. Although it was perfectly in line with all the amusing lore you knew about them.

"Did you get hurt?"

"Taehyung went under, but he's very nimble. He didn't even get hit. It was alright. But now, if the last training is done and Jimin is not injured, we hold him down and I take out the hammer".

You couldn't tell if he was completely joking or not. He soaped Holly up to his neck, and you helped with the head. After being corrected, the dog behaved angelically. His beady dark eyes followed your hands with no blinking.

"Is he afraid of water?"

"No, he's just aware that something is up".

"He'll be sad", you murmured.

"He knows I always come back. Just cuddle him. You'll do well. Speak Korean to him, of course, if you can".

A smile flashed. Yoongi tried to groom his hair with the clean hand, but the hair fell right back. You hated youself for noticing that one small strand that was close to his ear like the crescent.

Once out of the bathroom, he took one glimpse at your bookcase and said,

"Namjoon said you like Japanese literature?"

You were holding Holly in his towel on the floor, squeezing and rubbing him. Yoongi contentedly straightened his back and even stretched his arms.

"Yes".

No more comments about it. The tip of his tongue traveled to the corner of his lips, then he stepped to the door where all Holly's things were.

"Can I ask you something?"

It's been bothering you for a while.

He turned around, standing on one knee, his fingers tearing off the packaging from Holly's food.

"Yeah?"

"After the car accident, uh, do you, or did you have PTSD? I mean, you probably did, but for how long?"

You inhaled a lot of air into your lungs and stopped breathing. His face changed just a little. The memory update. The wolfcut, you realized. His hair, it had a name.

"I still have it, not so bad, though", he said simply. "It goes away little by little, but it takes time".

He paused, his hands working, but his head was still turned to you. He probably barely saw you, sitting against the window which let intense golden light into the living room.

"Why do you ask?"

You still weren't breathing and you figured you could go on like this because you didn't want to breathe in his scent lingering in your apartment. Woody, like one perfume you used to have when you were in school. Also, you didn't want to breathe, period.

"I was in an accident, too", you finally replied and turned back to Holly.

"Just wondering when I can sleep".

Yoongi was quiet for a while and you wondered if you went too far, but he was the only person who could probably understand you. To the full. Understand the intensity of horror when you're stuck against the unyielding machine.

"It will pass", he said simply. "Seems long, but every day it gets a little bit easier. You just have to let yourself twitch sometimes, if something scares you".

You released half-dry dog, and he shook off the water, tiny droplets exploding from him, flying away, pierced through with the golden sunlight. You felt like you'd just witnessed once in a lifetime event. You widened your eyes:

"Did you see this? So pretty! Did you see?"

Yoongi laughed with his shoulders, and there was some relief in his voice,

"Yes, I saw. Spring is pretty".

When he was finally leaving, Yoongi suddenly turned as if he remembered something.

"Do you want to go to our Seoul show? It will be the last one, at the end of April".

You were caught in your tracks.

"I... do?"

He nodded.

"Of course you do. You've never seen us live, have you? You will be blown away".

You chuckled at his sudden enthusiasm. His eyes even gleamed a little.

"I will ask them to take you backstage, the view is fine from there".

"Oh, backstage is..."

"No worries, no worries", Yoongi grinned, but didn't show the gums. Instead, he curved his lips like he knew something you didn't.

2024 Golden Globe Awards | Los Angeles, CA | January 7, 2024

Gucci gown

Let it be known my Roman Empire is painted a shade of aurora borealis green. 

I’m biased. I love it. You’re buckling up for a rave. But everyone knew that, right? 

I want it on record that no one should be surprised when they see this lewk on the TSS Favourite Outfits of 2024 list. And that I’ll devise some maniacal strategy to make it make sense to include in every annual list from here to eternity.

Let's get the obvious out of the way in that this shade of green could easily be interpreted as very snakelike and thus a nod to reputation and its forthcoming re-recorded version. I'd even happily apply it to the teal-y and springlike green of debut if we want to go debutation on this.

But if we are to talk about Gucci we have to talk about the precipice the house is upon right now. As it relates to Taylor, I suspect her dress (specific shade TBD - Chartreuse? Apple? Pear? Some other adjacent fruit that’s a feast for my eyes?) is a preview of Fall 2024 and a clear indicator of the path the new creative director Sabato De Sarno’s will take the brand in. Which is to say, muting the eccentricity of Alessandro Michele’s era of Gucci that brought the brand to a new level of renown in favour of something cleaner and sexier. Nicole Phelps for Vogue already noted that De Sarno’s first collection for Gucci — Spring 2024’s Ancora, meaning ‘again’ in English and released in September — evokes a Gucci when Tom Ford was once at the helm, praising De Sarno’s approach to “the upfront sex appeal of those ’60s-by-way-of-the-’90s shapes, and straight riffs on Ford hits” while “establish[ing De Sarno’s] essentials, focusing on cut and proportion, and repeating shapes for emphasis.”

Indeed, Taylor’s gown is directly reminiscent of a Fall 2004 look from Ford’s Gucci - all green sparkles and sexy disco energy. This makes sense when we consider De Sarno’s history and homeworking when he decided to take the creative director post. He told WWD, “Gucci to me equals luxury … the first fashion piece I ever owned was a Gucci jacket by Tom Ford. I still remember I traveled to Rome to buy it with my friend … luxury was really not part of our world. Television was the only way to see fashion for me back then.” He added, “My ambition is to build an aesthetic message with an edited collection that is mindful of Gucci’s heritage and close to my own aesthetics.”

When we consider my personal history with Taylor and Gucci, I don’t have to look very far to immediately picture one of my all time favourite Taylor looks — the 2014 Grammys when she wore a sparkling Gucci Première column gown which is not too dissimilar to this one. What can I say, I’m consistent. The shape, the perfect kiss-the-floor hemming, and obviously the divine colour that really pops on Taylor will have me swooning for a long time. 

At the end of it all, what I come back to is De Sarno’s sentimentality to naming his first collection: Ancora. Again. He told WWD, “Ancora is a word that you use when your desire is not over yet … I want to fall in love with fashion all over again — ancora.” In the same interview he said, “I like words a lot, they have weight and a precise meaning, they convey emotions, so I like artists who use words.” 

It dawns on me that Taylor’s light is shining at its brightest now as she highlights, celebrates, and - indeed - falls in love with all the versions of herself she has ever been. Revisiting her eras past again. And again. In every re-record. In every step she takes on stage. In every cutting line she writes in ruminating and revisiting the experiences of her life and translating them into song. She’s flitting, flirting, memorializing all her past selves in celebration of their summation of her current self. And that’s what this ‘era of eras’ has been. 

So if this is De Sarno’s Gucci I say welcome. Ancora.

Lucifer Morningstar x Pregnant!Reader Headcanons Part 2

I had a blast writing part 1, so here's some more headcanons of reader progressing through their pregnancy!

Warnings: Pregnancy Mention, Implied Smut

- He doesn't have a pregnancy kink per say, but... seeing you pregnant with his child does things to him that he can't even begin to put into words. He's always found you beyond gorgeous, of course, it's just that now it borders on literal worship. Said worship will be expressed quite physically on a daily basis; he'll slide his hands over your middle, leave trails of kisses up and down your body, and catch himself staring multiple times even before the two of you get out of bed each morning. He can't even really believe that you've somehow managed to get more beautiful, but he'll consistently try to describe the depths of his devotion in song, gifts, and countless hours spent adoring your presence.

- He'll want to start preparing for all baby related events as soon as possible, in part because the arrival of another heir is going to be quite the occasion, but he also just wants everything to go perfectly. The official announcement will come with multiple days of celebration across Hell, including a massive party in the castle itself, and each event that follows will somehow manage to top the last. You'll get enough gifts to fill up multiple rooms, and so many cards with well wishes you could fill up an entire library, but Lucifer expects nothing less. Every ounce of his considerable power is dedicated to making sure you get the best of everything. This dedication also applies to the little things the two of you do together, like decorating the baby's room. He'll insist on hand crafting the furniture, the toys, and every decoration with you directing at his side, and he'll use the most magical materials at his disposal. Hand painting the walls with stardust is not out of the question.

- Things have changed a lot since Charlie was born, and he was previously unaware of the many technological advancements now available for expecting couples, specifically ultrasounds. He's amazed and wants to attend every appointment even more at the prospect of actually seeing your child before they're born. Of course, upon beholding the lopsided blob on the screen for your first check up, he's far more overwhelmed than he could have ever imagined. He can see little hooves and everything! The doctor doesn't quite know what to make of the King near to weeping at the sight of a being no larger than a peanut, but you take it all in stride. Once he finds out that pictures can be taken of the scans, he requests as many as he can carry, and his pockets are bursting with photos of Charlie and her not-yet-born sibling. He'll show them to everyone that does and doesn't ask.

- While he can be overly protective and his efforts to provide for you are more akin to spoiling, he's not at all without cause in doing so; carrying a child of Lucifer is no easy task. As your body becomes the epicenter for a developing power beyond imagination, you'll need him by your side with increasing frequency, especially once the baby's uncontrolled magic starts surging and affecting your reality. You'll be unharmed, but it's still quite nice to have Archangel level powers around to get things back to normal once you start inexplicably walking up the walls, speaking in dead languages or levitating random items with a glance. He takes it all in stride with humorous stories about how Charlie did the same before her arrival, though your cravings for increasingly esoteric rare foods do have him apologizing for the inconveniences of angelic biology, as even he needs a few days to acquire the rarer items your body demands.

- As delighted as he is to have another child, he can't help but be haunted by doubts of all he's done wrong as a father so far. No matter how much of it was out of his control, he fears everything that went wrong will happen again, and that he might just be gaining a second child to fail. It's only through your loving reassurance that he retains some faith in himself, and dares to believe he'll be a halfway decent dad to two children.

Sorry for liveblogging my TSV experience to you but just finished episode 13 and

COP DOWN 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

At the start of this story I thought that Sid Wright was a fool who willingly let the radio station grind him down to dust, literally working himself to death for their benefit. And I mean up to a certain point he did do that. But I gotta say that my opinion of him turned when he realised that this was a nightmare. Sure, he couldn't do much about it, but I liked that he realised that he's giving himself up and getting nothing in return and that he was never given anything in return. And you know what internally I cheered when he rose from the dead and went "Yeah ok so. I do NOT want to be a sacrifice and I won't be. Also we should all get more sleep." Like ok my man you might be an undead vessel now but congrats on the character growth.

Hey isn't it kinda fucked up how a lot of the characters are connected in ways they'll never know about? I realised this when Daggler died, because when he first appeared I thought that the fact that he was there when The Drowning Song happened would be a big deal. But he died without Faulkner as much as knowing about it. He himself died without him knowing that Faulkner "initiated" The Drowning Song. Carpenter and Paige are connected in a way they'll never know about. To Paige, Carpenter is a random woman and her ex-captor. To Carpenter, Paige is a random woman who was way kinder than she needed to be. Neither of them know they shared a mutual friend. Carpenter does not know that the word "share" has to be in the past tense. She'll never know of Vaughan's death, she'll be able to think that maybe, just maybe, they're out there, alive and as well-off as you can be in the world of TSV. She'll never know that Paige knows. They'll never bond by telling each other stories about them, Paige will be alone in her grief. I don't know. Something about that is just. So depressing. More so than anything specific that happens in the story. And I realise that that's one of the themes (talking to each other yet not listening/understanding, being connected yet alone), but I gotta say for some reason this theme hits me way harder than any of the other ones.

Related to that but I never thought I'd feel sorry for a guy who turned into a...shadowy? figure whispering horrible harmful advice to people. But um. Yeah the death of "Whisper" was pretty depressing. I felt bad. Honestly it's kinda depressing whenever nearly any Saint (I assume the Whisper does count as a Saint?) gets killed. Or like. Off the top of my head I'm thinking specifically of the hotelier. Like. Dude was just a giant shrimp and didn't seem very keen on dying. Literally wasn't even hostile. Like yeah ok Sainthood itself is obviously a horrible thing that kills you and hollows you out and replaces you with something different (well. In a tangible way at least. In a way it happens to all of us all the time, it's just that there is no physical change to go along with it), but there's a part of me that cannot help it but feel sorry for at least the Whisper and the hotelier-turned-Saint anyway. I feel like I'm just talking in circles though and not even explaining my reasoning for my feelings well, so I'll just end this point here.

Faulkner sure is going through a character development (neutral) arc but I don't think it's the same one he thinks he's going through.

The Shroomy Brainrot

This section is just the part where I go completely rotten in my brainrot. I am anxious to share this since I’m not used to sharing this kind of content, I don’t want to flash others with it nor do I want others to be uncomfortable. Me being a chatterbox is already uncomfortable so having this mixed made me think I’m going to be scolded at. Then I realize, most of those kinds of people don’t read.

These are the contents wanted to draw related to each pair.

Vanilla and Shamil

These two were just suppose to be an excuse for me to draw ShadowVanilla/PureMilk with cuties Sanrio materials.

After awhile I itching for drawing something fruity again. The kind of aesthetic that is both cute but also edge? If that makes sense.

The songs “Romeo and Cinderella” and “Milk and Coffee”(specifically the Itou Kashitaro cover). Got my brain itching.

So whatever happened to them at night after going to conventions or just plain hangouts, they just explore other things. Particularly related to cute “toys” and cosplay.

They became not only an excuse to draw cutesy ShadowVanilla/PureMilk stuff but also nsfw that’s cute stuff. (I only wanted to post those drawings at private when I have the time)

Vanilla here is also the freak vanilla a lot of shadowvanilla/puremilk artist enjoy giving to the awaken Pv

Anymore related to these two will just be saved for drawings since it’s hard to put into words.

Fortune and Fount

I originally just want Fount to be just an excuse for me to draw Motherly materials related to him. Milf if you will. A gentle mom with the themes of comfort.

But I know some people find that boring so I just plan to add scary stuff with him in between, like the crazy horror type. Where you don’t put d*ck in crazy

If you watch the anime Happy Sugar Life (if your younger than don’t). There’s an aunt character there, that was in inspiration for the scary side of Fount. Though shes crazy, she knows things. Her motif of “accepting all love” is what I took inspiration from. He accepts all information, from both bad and good.

He also likes games, similar to the actual SMilk where he does get bored and resorts to games. In his normal mood it’s just the simple games like truth or dare or cards. Theres mini consequences when people lose to his game but at night those consequences turn severe especially for trespassers who planned to steal in the studyhub. Think of his little games as “Other mother” style from Coraline. Tapping fingers if you wish.

Fortune was originally suppose to be added since I want Vanilla to be both the PreAwaken and Awaken Pv. Though I saw others wanted Fount to have a PV of his own and so Fortune was given since in the spire he is like his own thing.

I put a bit of Healer Cookies motifs into him since I miss the old man but also I don’t know what to do with fortune since his recluse and recluse is his own thing in this AU already. So I out Fortune Teller and Healer cookie into the blender and we got this guy. With a dash of Avatar of Destiny to counter Founts creepy horrors. Horror meets Horror I guess.

He would be the representation of the reader on navigating Founts both cute and scary side.

Fount would give second or more chances for Fortune when he loses games at night. Since he knows he is the student he saved back then and is probably messed in the head as well from the events. The chances were given to the point that Fortune actually won their games.

Fortune is also nuts in the head due to the events but also listen to the stories people have to go through just to get simple medical care in the legal way. He can’t show his frustration because he knows it will affect the safe environment they build in their clinic. Fount gave him that outlet and now they’re just enjoying each other in the most scariest yet spicy way possible.

What Fount does to the trespassers.. well have you listen to the song “A little priest from Sweeney Todd” if so, there you go.

Recluse and Sage

The tamest? Of the three.

It’s just CondensedMilkAU but in the context of this story. The context of CondensedMilkAU is that the Sage is burnt out from his duties and is now navigating how to cope with his job but also his new life/hobby. In the AU, his new life is his life as a mother of two children, living a simple life. In the context of this AU, it’s him being a vtuber mom for many tired employees and students from overwhelming works.

For some reason, drawing Sage tired gives me some sort of comfort. So most of this is just him being tired and trying to relax. As for his vtuber, I want milfs but also want to draw female SMilk. People are feral for that design, IM ALSO FERAL.

For Recluse, he is the kind of nurse that you can just hang out in the clinic to release pain.

But Recluse also represent the consequences of not thinking about your words especially if in the context of another person. Word of mouth can be muttered and the word do deceit can harm people. It harmed the Sage badly.

Recluse forgets that Sage is also a normal person. He may have suffered from the constant scolding relating to his younger brothers actions and now he just think of what was the perspective of the professor.

Those two I only plan simple angst with a bit of tension mix in since there’s also the context of Recluse being into Sages attitude after the school break.

Sages motherly attitude he presents during his livestream mixed in with his actual self. So that attracted Recluse to the Sage. It’s just frustrating that the Sage avoids him like the plague or excuses himself a lot when they’re alone.

Another Freak Vanilla was born. Probably worst since there’s one person from the replies mention that Recluse could have been the scariest. He might turn to the creepiest. Fount the second but a Vanilla.

Most of these I know I will draw one day or another but will post in private since I don’t want to creep people out. It’s a pain for others who just want to read with no restriction but I want to filter myself from time to time. I’m an anxious person but I also want to draw something outside of the simple fluff and angst. I want to give props to those artist who do post and draw weird, scary but juicy spicy art. I have no thick skin. I’m just a squishy mushroom with a green pea brain hahaha. Thank you to those artist for giving me food and to those people who are encouraging me to get out of my shell.

Also, I want to stress I've been DEEP in delulu this weekend/week over all this because it's made me soo excited, but I analyzed the figure in the sunglasses from her milk tshirt pic for such a long time last night, and I swear... I am like 98% certain I see L's VERY distinct tattoo on the person in the sunglasses (and it's totally in the correct placement). I'll put the pic below. It helps if you zoom in a little bit. And after the song that she posted today, I am 99% certain at this point that L took that photo of her in the tshirt 😭😭😭 I could be wrong about the tattoo lol, BUT I still am almost certain that's him based on the arms!

What Could This All Mean??

I feel like we all have seen the theories at this point around all of these posts/stories, and the MANY Easter Eggs they all contain regarding L OR certain people adjacent to L. Therefore, I am not going to talk about all of the Easter Eggs and what they might be implying. This is what I will say:

If all of this content had not been released publicly in such a short period of time, I don't think I would really have paid that much attention to it, or have been THIS excited. However, it is precisely because N (who is VERY intentional on SM) posted ALL OF THIS in such a short period of time, knowing very well how the fandom would be interpreting it and leaving TONS of Easter Eggs that she's with L, that makes me fairly confident that there has been a VERY positive shift between L/N.

Could I be wrong? Yes. However, the song that she posted today (which I have ALWAYS loved btw 😍), clarified to me that everything she has posted since Friday wasn't just random. That song is a BIG statement! We know that N communicates through music, and this song's lyrics don't leave a lot to interpretation. It is a very sweet and happy love song! Now, could this song be about someone else, or could she just have liked the song and wanted to post it? Yes. But after EVERYTHING she posted on IG since Friday, NOBODY can convince me this song isn't about L!

I don't know what this EXACTLY means right now BTS for ALL parties involved in this situation. However, if L was going to officially acknowledge A as his girlfriend in the near future, would N have posted all of this content in such a short period of time that is very obviously related to L in the fandom? Absolutely not. I think (and a LOT all people might not agree with me on this) that this was an official acknowledgment to the fandom, specifically, that her and L are together currently and happily in love 😭😭😭 I still feel like the situation is probably a little complicated BTS, but something in my gut, based on all this public content the last few days from N, makes me feel like something BIG has changed between her and L, and N therefore feels more comfortable and confident with sharing this type of content with the fandom (and the public). I don't believe that we will get a lot of this type of content from L for a while (for LOTS of different reasons that I think are totally understandable), BUT we might get a couple of little crumbs from him (I'm thinking maybeee through songs). I also don't think they are in any place yet to go officially public, but I DO think that N will continue posting content like this if my theories are true 👀 I also feel like they may make a public announcement sooner than we expected based off of everything from the last couple of days. I have said this before, but I believe that both L/N are aware that this relationship would get serious pretty quickly if they were able to get on the same page. And I think they have 😭😍

Does this mean that L/A are done? I think so. Will we still see some material from A related to L? Maybe. I wouldn't rule that out. I get the sense though, and I have been feeling like this for a while, that L/A really haven't been doing that well in their relationship for a long time based on all the evidence that we now have.

A lot of people might not agree with all of my thoughts here, but I feel pretty confident that the song N posted today is a statement to the public, particularly the fandom, about her feelings currently for L. And it just makes my heart really happy 😍😍😍

Hey Raven, is there any info about Merfolk/Coral Sea performances? Such as concerts, theatre, anything like that.

Personally i only saw Floyd mentioning that "underwater concerts are boring" in his lesson chats, i think? But i am really new to twst and i do not know a lot of things sadly😭

But considering that Little Mermaid is a musical, and in the film they actually did sang a song with Ariel's sisters for a bday or something, i feel like there might be more information that i just never saw(Which is fully possible because i am really bad at doing research😭).

I am searching Coral sea info for my Octavinelle Oc, who is a Shark merman who is obsessed with performances, but i didn't saw a lot of info about specifically this part, so im asking it. :3

Also in case there is any information about Sharks in Twst i would ABSOLUTELY gobble it up, but considering we never saw(or at least i think we never did) a Shark merfolk(or any shark tbh), i am really not sure if there is a lot of Shark info to even search for. Floyd did said in his lesson chat that Sharks exist, i guess, and that "you should hope they see you as a friend and not food" but i am pretty sure it won't get any further than that😭

I apologize if you do have a post about it already, i just didn't saw it, and i think not a lot of people are interested in knowing that part of Coral Sea, but in case there is, sorry🥺

Here's what I was able to find regarding concerts, music, composers, and other related performances in the Coral Sea or for merfolk:

In Lost in the Book with Nightmare Before Christmas, Azul indicates that, in the Coral Sea, music is considered very important in creating an atmosphere.

Merfolk sing songs and create music together for a variety of reasons: to celebrate holidays, to express their love to their significant others, or to simply just enjoy the ocean.

Music is such a huge aspect of merpeople culture that even the flippant Floyd says that he feels like he has to put in at least a little effort for it.

Perhaps music's importance to merpeople is why Azul suggests gifting a song to Noble Bell College in Malleus's Masquerade Dress vignettes--although the reason Azul cites in the vignettes is because a song is very cost effective.

It seems that there is an assumption by humans that all merpeople are great singers, but a museum guard in book 3 says it's an "urban legend" and that tone-deaf merpeople exist.

Floyd isn't a big fan of the concerts held back home, stating that all the songs sounded the same.

Floyd explored with many brass instruments to pass the time, and is now able to play any of them with ease.

Floyd has also played the drums in the middle school band he used to have with Jade (on contrabass) and Azul (on piano).

Jade has also played the flute when visiting Harveston, though he is not very skilled at it.

In Rook's Halloween Dress vignettes, we learn about Granchio IV, who is described as having "bright red claws". (This is probably twisted!Sebastian, seeing as we see the original animated Sebastian in paintings in some Platinum Jackets yet he is not acknowledged or identified as Granchio IV by the NRC students.)

This composer lived ~3 centuries ago and was the Coral Sea's finest court musician. However, he lost his position due to a scandal at a concert. (This is most likely referring to when Sebastian got in trouble for Ariel not showing up for a concert to perform with her sisters.)

Granchio IV was soon hired as the first foreign conductor for the Shaftlands Philharmonic Orchestra.

His "Undersea Hymn" is still very famous, even in modern day Twisted Wonderland. Rook states that classical music such as this is his favorite, and that he has worn out his concert CD from having listened to Undersea Hymn so many times.

Twst hasn't spoken of shark merpeople in detail. Floyd mentions sharks in a Chat (in the context of sunken ships being shark lairs)... He does frequently mention sunken ships at other points (Halloween Dress vignette, Birthday Boy vignettes, etc.) but doesn't bring up the sharks again in this context. The only other time I can recall sharks being mentioned in Jade's Platinum Jacket vignettes; he says that a group of sharks failed to keep their promise, and so he had to punish them.

You honestly don't need to count on canon to give you lore on something so specific to work with though (be it shark stuff or music stuff). An OC is your own creation and meant to be played with for fun, so just go wild and do whatever you think best suits the character! You can also just headcanon whatever you want, there's no shame in that.

Posting the "Damon has to suffer thru having multiple platonic & romantic soulmates" AU that i've been writing in my drafts for the past 2 weeks because unlearning shame is so cool and sexy of me (if any of these give u inspiration to make something, feel free to use)

mostly imagining it with my favorite Damon ships (platonic or romantic) + platonic Toshiko (get older brother'd, idiot). I'm mostly thinking of putting Damon thru the wringer when i pick the different soulmarks he gets (now he feels a need to become someone worthy of all these people he's connected to on top of all his canon issues)

◊ Ulysses has "what you write on your skin appears on your soulmate's." This, thusly, makes him the 1st and probably only one Damon is in contact with pre-EGA with after one too many times of finding "buy new journals" and other such reminders on his arm. They probably did exchange number at some point, but let's be real, Ulysses is more likely to remember to bring his pen than his phone on a daily basis anyway. Imagine Damon researching for a debate and briefly mentioning the topic to Ulysses, who immediately starts writing several historical that support Damon's topic. (Also, whenever Damon's about to eat/sleep, he writes a reminder for Ulysses to do the same.)

◊ Mark has "music your soulmate is listening to pops into your thoughts" (Damon is frantically searching up the song that's been playing in his head all week with no results. Then Mayhem drops their newest track and he does the Pointing Rick Dalton pose. Mark chooses to believe that the increase in his own songs playing in his head is just himself thinking about them because the alternative would kill him via embarrassment)

◊ Jett has "you feel phantom pain whenever your soulmate gets injured" (I'll be honest, i chose this specifically to be a dick to Damon. Imagine the audience watching one of Damon's debates, and they assume the shaking & stuttering is due to nerves until he collapses mid-sentence. This also leads to Jett feeling even worse about his accident :D) (On a lighter note, every time Damon gets that "seatbelt jerk" pain from sudden vehicle stops on Jett's end, he'll pinch the flesh between his thumb and pointer as revenge)

◊ If it's canon compliant, Eva gets "last words your soulmate will say to you." I initially thought of "soulmate can't lie to you" for the funny irony, but then my brain went "wait. Wolfgang." He has either that or "timer that marks your soulmate's death." In a No-KG version, Wolfie still has "can't lie" and Eva has the "first words" version instead.

◊ Toshiko (this is the only one that's 100% platonic) gets "matching tattoos." It's on the right wrist, a green snake in a heart shape, with a smaller pink snake within also making a heart ♡ (She insists that it's only fair if they get matching flamingo tattoos once she's of age. Damon Does Not Want To. He does anyway.) (Only semi-related, but imagine that Toshiko also has a dimple but on the opposite side of Damon's)

◊ I considered Diana having "greyscale vision until you first touch your soulmate" but i feel that would make her talent like 1,000x harder to do (i don't use makeup) so i dialed it back to "can't see your soulmate's eye color until you touch"

Kai, Cassidy, and Desmond are also Damon's soulmates, but I haven't come up with anything for them yet. In this AU, people normally get 2-3 soulmates, with higher numbers being increasingly unlikely (and making Damon with his 10 soulmarks a freak of nature, even if most of them end up being platonic).

(as an aside, damon's parents are so happy that their son will have so many people who will come to care for him)
