A few delicious WoR things so far at approx. 60% of the way through and having reached part three conclusion:
The implication that it was Kaladin who killed Shallan's brother (I am suspicious of this actually being the case! but that is the implication so far, but I hope it was BC THAT WOULD BE SAD), but since Shallan believes it's Amaram, she now hates him. And now I need Kaladin to find out to make it more delicious. But Shallan and Kaladin could bond over their Amaram hate too so fingers crossed! lol Kaladin being such a fucking debbie downer chaperoning Adolin and Shallan's date. Sure, the Weeping has a lot to do with it, but boy is B I T T E R (and I love my bitter sadboi son to his edgy little core). He pointed out more than once that he hates being ignored, and that he doesn't know why the couple having fun bothered him, so I was under the impression that he was dealing with being reminded again of something he "can't have" (BC OF AMARAM). But like when he eventually chose to go out with his crew (yay!!), he's unable to settle for this for long now. This mixed with his desire to be more than what he currently is as a soldier, as he then indicated he was close to being ready to tell Dalinar about his Surgebinding, shows he's tired of hiding who he is -
WHICH OFC MADE THE EVENTS OF PART THREE ENDING THAT MUCH MORE HEART WRENCHING. But wow, what an ending!! (wait didn't I say that about pt 2 ending too? I think I did lol. I am getting close to the dreaded sanderlanche and I am NOT READY - not least bc I don't have the next books here yet lmao) I stayed up late last night getting through that so I have 0 brain cells for writing about it now except for WOWEE ZOWEE. FIGHT GOOD. KALADIN PERFECT. HONOR IS DEAD BUT I'LL SEE WHAT I CAN DO. AMARAM 1000000% SHAT HIS PANTS A LITTLE. OH WAIT SPEAKING OF SHAT PANTS, my god did I love the Shallan and Adolin banter about shit, lmao. They are v cute, GOOD FOR THEM (CAN SOMEONE PLS SMOOCH KALA--). I still carry a torch for Sadeas, I love that FASHIONABLE, UNCTUOUS LITTLE MAN. Like, yeah, he's gotta die and is likely beyond redemption at this point, much as I would have liked that possibility for him bc he is so FUN, but at least he looks hot doing it (to ME). If they fuck up his UTTER RIZZ in the inevitable future TV adaptation, I will be rioting. All he does is outdress everyone around him and think about Dalinar, repressed gay little idiot. (this may be my sadeas/dalinar brain rot talking)
Sebarial + Palona my beloveds. They won the IDGAF war. They are like if Sadeas and Ialai chilled tf out, fucked off into the sunset, and only cared about eating bonbons, which is what I wish they WOULD do. (I love them both) But actually they DO care - they took Shallan in and are caring for her, they love each other deeply, and they're raking in the cash making a mercantile empire out of their warcamp lmao. HAVE THE OTHER WARCAMPS CONSIDERED TRYING TO EMULATE THIS KING AND QUEEN BEHAVIOR? Sebarial may be the smartest of them all. Moash - this situationship is getting out of control. Every time I see Kaladin give him one more chance, I can't help but laugh. Nervously.
Dalinar losing his shit on Kaladin after standing up for him to Elhokar: CHEF'S KISS. He has NEVER IN HIS LIFE YELLED AT A GIRL LIKE THIS!!! lmao
Tumblr media
On one hand, Kaladin was acting like a brat, and I can see Dalinar reprimanding his sons the same way, so in a way IT'S SWEET. On a personal note, pls yell at me like this, daddy.
How frustrating for Kaladin though (I will always defend my bratty son!!!), I feel so bad for him. It really just feels so hopeless - he doesn't have the proof he needs, and to highlight the David-vs-Goliath ass level of his predicament, Amaram's fabricating his own evidence. AND NOW HE'S IN PRISON. FREE MY BOY HE DID NOTHING WRONG, LET HIM KILL AMARAM AS A TREAT!!! >:(

trick or treat!! 👻👻👻
happy halloween !!
i bestow upon you: polypirates headcannons
- chip and gillion definitely hold hands like, all the time. especially with as distracted gill gets at times, someone has to keep him from running off towards every interesting thing he sees. but sometimes, chip gets distracted by whatever gillion is looking at too,,, and then jay is left to wonder Where The Fuck her co-captains have run off to.
- the way that gillion was so averse to affection confused them at first, like why he jolted away from chip putting his hands on his shoulders to look the fish man in the eyes like he had been electrocuted. or when jay would lovingly put her hand on his face to comfort him and it felt like a fire spread over his face. (surprise! it's bc trauma) but once gillion realized that not every touch from his crew mates was because they were reprimanding him, he began to get a lil clingy, and now he doesn't want to let go of them ever. (they cuddle every night, your honor.)
- chip has always been a sucker for affection, but being raised as a human male, he thinks that it's not okay for him to want stuff like that. so he does it in off handed ways, like gently punching gill in the shoulder or grabbing Jay's wrist to keep her grounded when she's upset. but same as always, the crew is at the ready (especially queen), helping him realize that it's okay to want a hug every now and then.
- jay often gets lost in her own thoughts, (*slaps her forehead* this baby can fit so much overthinking!) but whenever she finds chip and gillion getting up to some shenanigans (like messing with Earl), it immediately breaks her out of it. sometimes she'll just laugh at their antics, but other times she'll join in, and it makes the joke so much funnier.
- jay is the one who everyone goes to when they have a problem, no matter what it is. chip accidentally broke gills armor? jay fixes it before gillion even realizes. gryffins gun arm gets jammed? he (begrudgingly) asks jay to help him, since he only has one actual hand. gill gets stuck in his barrel? jay can always hear him calling for her, even through the muffling effects of the water he sleeps in. she's a problem solver, a big thinker (and quite possibly the only reason chip and Gill are still alive.).
hope u enjoyed!!

Buggy thinks she hasn't gotten attacked bc people are scared of her.
Buggy hasn't gotten attacked bc people are scared of her protection squad. They have monthly meetings, printed t-shirts, and Buggy Shrines.
Bonus points, since in this concept she and Shanks never had that huge fight and split, since she had the support and love she craved, she never just settles. She continues to train. Most, if not all, in her crew can use Haki to a certain extent bc she made Damn Sure They Would Be Safe. She collects the disillusioned, the abandoned, the hurt and strange and odd, and she makes them into a family.
She works smarter, not harder, portraying as a pretty face and loud mouth, but she's sharp. She's so intelligent it's overwhelming. She's still a dumbass bc That's A Key Character Trait, but she's got High Int, Low Wis.
Only those who join the Inner Circle Of Simpage know the truth - in an all out brawl, Buggy would never win. Brawls aren't her forté. If they ever fight Buggy on her field...?
Shanks will swoon, twirling his hair, kicking his feet, "Oh, she'd annihilate me~"
Marco puffs up, pales, shudders, and says, "no, I won't fight her-yoi. I choose life."
Mihawk thinks fighting is foreplay and jumps at the chance.
Crocodile laughed the first time, decided to 'see what the fuss was about', and then never spoke of the results. Buggy treated his wounds and apologized.
Bonus: Luffy just grins and says "Mama Bug is STRONG. I could kick her ass but she's got everyone else."
She may not be a big buff cheeto puff, may not be a tank, but she is by no means helpless.
Despite what her enemies may think... :)
I love it when we talk about Buggy finally using all of her potential and being smarter than everybody else and kicking ass. She's the best. I think she's very strategic and knows exactly when to back down and when to attack. She manipulates her rivals and plays with them in curious, fun ways so she can win. And, well, of course if it's not in her field she's fucked. But if she has the upper hand? Run. I love how all of her lovers are either turned on by this or extremely scared or both. That? That is true love. They love their queen. But they all protect her anyway. And also, Luffy admiring her like that makes me melt 😭 He's just there supporting her dream from a distance and telling people she's really fun (and then people fight her and they uh, die. So much fun).

hi i'm the anon who asked you a couple things the other day (you may be able to figure out who i am after reading and that's okay). i guess i just didn't see the posts you were referring to in both cases despite spending a while scrolling through your blog and just reading.
for some clarification about the wlw question, i didn't care about canon or fanon, i was just curious about how your opinions work since i personally do like many of the ships you don't, as well as some we mutually share, and i'm the type of person who wants to learn about differing viewpoints to understand them better despite that.
i'm also wondering how you like scorptra if you're a catradora anti since catra has been verbally abusive to scorpia at the very least, though i'm aware that's arguably better than her treatment of adora but still not healthy until the very end of the last episode.
i hope it's understood that my intention was not to challenge you as a gotcha but simply just to know you a bit better. i may have stopped feeling comfortable being mutuals with you (or just following? i don't remember tbh) for various reasons related to fandom but i still respect you as a person and your opinions so sometimes i come back.
also big W on harlivy and korrasami btw, i love our bi4bi queens
lastly i agree with you 100% on the lunter tiktok video, i love voidpitws' edits very much so i still follow on instagram but i don't support the superiority complex all the canon sibling truthers have when they're wrong 🤷
Hi!
Yeah, that's fine, I understand that a lot of people can have different opinions with me, since a lot of mine are controversional, even if you agree with some
I would love to answer your question about Scorptra and Catradora tho
First of all, catradora being abusive isn't even the only reason why I hate this ship. I talked about it before so I don't wanna fully describe everything again, I will just call them: it ruined s5 and both of Adora and Catra's arcs and that's basically a canon incest, since they werent even just portrayed as adoptive sisters, but even the whole crew, including Nate, have admitted it multipe times. You can try to find some posts about it in anti tags, there is actually a lot of information, if you're actually interested
Now, about abusiveness and Scorptra. Tbh, I really don't understand how can people even compare these two, when these ships are so different, but anyways. I will talk about Scorptra s1-3 and s4 separately, since the whole portal arc has changed so many things
Let's see. Why I consider Catradora as an extremely abusive relationship?
Let's compare Catradora to s1-3 Scorptra
Catra hates Adora and tried to make her suffer as much as possible. Every time she saw Adora, she did everything to hurt her either physically, or mentally, by making her self-hatred stronger than it ever was and used every opportunity to do this. And no, It never was "bc they were at the war". Catra did it bc she just personally hated Adora and wanted to make her feel pain, no one made Catra do this, it was always her personal desire. And even when they were kids, she was the same. And the reason why It's rather "abuser x victim", than "enemies" is bc Adora never treated Catra the same. If in case with Glimmer, It's at least mutual, than with Adora it never was. Catra was always the one who tried to find a fight with Adora. Adora never tried to hurt Catra and never tried to offend her. All she was doing was self-defense. And claiming self-defense as smth even near to abuse, is just horribly and a victim-blaming. Also you can see, every time Adora "hurt" Catra (even tho it was never Adora's fault and was always on Catra's victim complex) she immidiatly tried to apologize and to fix it, just bc she cared about Catra's feelings, even tho it was never her fault and responsibility
Tumblr media
What about Scorptra? Well, Catra just never tried to make Scorpia hate herself and feel awful and didn't tried to physically hurt her. We can say Catra did say smth offensive to Scorpia, but it was never bc she wanted to hurt her, but rather bc Catra didn't care about Scorpia yet and Scorpia's love to Catra was confusing to Catra, she didn't even understand that Scorpia loves her, for her Scorpia was just weird and kinda annoying, especially bc for Catra It had to take a lot of time to love someone, so after s2 (White out episode) when she realized that Scorpia actually cares about her and isn't just being annoying, she accepts Scorpia and starts caring about her back. And after that episode she stops thinking about Scorpia as about just someone weird and starts thinking about her as a friend who cares about her like Adora did once
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, after that Catra starts developing her trust and careness to Scorpia. She desides to be honest with Scorpia and lets her in, by letting Scorpia help her. And then, when she realized that Scorpia isn't even "just" care about her, but also is ready to sacrafice everything she had to save Catra, Catra does the same to Scorpia and puts Scorpia's life before her own. And that's her most selfless action, which, Imo is much more selfless than Catra ever was in s1 or s5 with Adora. Bc, if Catra never thought Adora actually cares about her and thought Adora cares about SW and her role much more, with Scorpia it was the first time she saw someone who cares about her more, than about anything else. And when she realizes it, she desides to do the same for Scorpia, bc she values it so much.
And then they spend the happiest day in their life in a Crimson waste, being mutually respectful to each other and mutually loving being around each other
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I genuinely don't understand how can people say Scorpia was abusive there just bc it was a slow-burn for Catra, bc she has the clearest attachment-issues and couldn't believe someone can actually love her due to her life experience. But I think that's what makes their relationship with Scorpia only more important, bc Scorpia managed to "deserve" Catra's trust, love, respect and careness, even tho Catra was actually such a selfish person who is afraid of being used and left and didn't believe anyone can actually care about her. Scorpia was the first person who has shown Catra that she doesn't have to deserve love to be loved (like it was with SW) . And that she's not alone and that there are people who care about her and are not gonna leave her. For who Catra isn't just an "another friend" to use and leave, who doesn't worth staying for (like from her perspective she was for Adora. Which, again, I obviously don't blame Adora for, she didn't have to care only about Catra, It's just what Catra thought about Adora). Even if we compare Adora and Scorpia's leaving:
Adora left the Horde despite Catra, Scorpia left the Horde because of Catra
Adora showed Catra that she doesn't worth staying in the Horde. And Scorpia showed Catra that the only thing that could make her leave the Horde is Catra
Also, every time Adora tried to help Catra or just did something well, Catra was jealous and envy, bc she saw Adora as a competitor, which isn't healthy, especially considering the fact that Adora never saw Catra the same way. And when Scorpia helps Catra and does her job well, Catra sees, respects and thanks her. That's why her in s4 saying Scorpia she's useless was a straight up lie
Tumblr media
Here we go to another thing: Catra always saw Adora as her enemy or a rival, not just as a friend. Which created a super unhealthy dynamic between them. Catra was always the envy friend to Adora, who can't be happy for her and always finds a way do downplay her achievements like we've seen in ep1. Catra was not only envy of Adora's achievements and respect, but also of Shadow Weaver's love. Which was a sibling jealous of a mother or a mother figure, their whole "Golden child" and "Scapegoat child" dynamic with an abusive mother figure
And so Catra's envyness lead to hateness and the hateness lead to unhealthy obsessesion Catra had
She made her whole life and whole goal to make Adora "lose", bc she couldn't handle Adora winning her. She was ready to destroy the whole world just bc of it which isn't healthy in any way. And if you're gonna call Scorpia "obsessed" with Catra, remember that Scorpia was the one who was against activating the portal bc of the risks and tried to make Catra change her mind even despite loving her, while Catra still did it bc of her obsessesion with Adora. Catra was litterally addicted and I do not think giving an addict their addition in the end as a praise is healthy. Catra should have been learnt to let her obsessesion go, to get a life, to find other reasons and goals to live, besides hunting Adora. It could be anything. But giving her just what she was so obsessed with is the worst idea Nate could possible choose
And what about Adora?
Even tho Catra was her best friend, Adora never cared about her as much in the first place. Basically, unlike Catra, Adora always had her own life that wasn't only about her love interest. If the only thing Catra had in the Horde was Adora, Adora did have a lot of things besides Catra: she had Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio, she had SW's admiration, she had the Horde's respect and she had her own goals. Catra was in her life too, but she was never the first for Adora. Which is absolutely okay. What is not okay is Catra's life, since she decided to dadicate it to Adora and when Adora left, she became lonely. I can't blame her for that, but Catra's life is Catra's responsility and making it only about one person is just stupid and never ends well. So, that's true that Adora never wanted Catra as much as Catra wanted her. Tbh, Adora never even recalled Catra in a good way after s1, so, as someone who was never a catradora shipper, before s5 I had no idea and no thoughts that Adora actually cares about Catra, not even to mention that she "loves" her and this ship never made sense to me bc it. It was always so one-sided. And the way Catradora shippers are trying to call Scorptra one-sided, makes me think they just skipped the whole s3.
So , for Adora Catra was always just an ex friend who for some reason (since Adora didn't understand it) decided to hate and fight her, just bc for some reason she didn't want to go with her. Catra's behavior never made sense to Adora and that's also strange to me that they didn't want to mention it in s5.
And the worst thing is not even that for Adora Catra was always just an "ex friend", but that she also was a cruel enemy, who made Adora go throught so much trauma, made her hate herself and think that she should die and that her life has no worth, that she only makes things worse and doesn't deserve anything good, while in reality Adora is the most selfless and kind person out of the whole show. Catra tortured Adora, killed a mother of her best friend, terrorized the planed and took away homes and lives of so many innocent people. Adora didn't just despise Catra, but she hated her for everything she has done and s5 has completely erased that fact. And it wasn't the "love-hate" type of hate, It's a hateness people have to terrorists, murderouses and war criminals that take away people's lives and make the life horrible. And that's ridicilous how so many fans really think that's just bc it wasn't directly shown in a kid show means It's not true, while It's very much is and was so heavily implied. Like they think a "war" is when two lesbians are arguing, not when people are losing their homes and families and die. And Adora, as someone who can't stand cruelty and injustice, has litterally left the Horde to protect those people. Making Adora suddenly "love" someone who has done all these things makes no sense and was so stupid and horrible.
Especially considering the fact that her whole arc in s3 was about learning that she's not responsible for Catra's actions, that Catra decided to live like this herself and that Adora doesn't have to baby sit Catra and what SW did to Catra wasn't on Adora either and that she didn't have to be responsible for it. Adora did a right chose to leave an abusive environment and she actually did ask Catra to go with her many times. Yet what do we see in s5? Catra is a victim of everyone. Catra opening the portal and abusing every is now SW's responsibility and not Catra's one, Adora is also blamed for leaving Catra and not for chosing to love some days with Catra over saving the whole world and Adora has to baby sit Catra every fucking minute
It has completely destroyed everything that had been building for 4 seasons and that's terrible not only just for Adora, or even Catra, but for the whole ending and finale season.
So now about Scorptra in s4
While I do agree that their relationship obviously wasn't healthy there and Catra treated Scorpia and everyone around really bad, I don't think their relationship can be called abusive bc of that like catradora during their whole relationship.
First of all, when we talk about characters relationship, we should consider all of their relationship during the whole show in general, not just take out of the context one arc and run with it. If catradora was toxic and abusive on every single stage (when they were kids in the Horde, when they were enemies and when they became friends - couple), Scorptra, like I've already described it, wasn't. They mutually cared about each other and Catra didn't treat Scorpia horribly. S1-s3 was the default of their relationship and s4 wasn't what Scorpia and Catra's relationship is normally, it was what they turned into due to the stress and the whole shit that has happened in the finale of s3. Which doesn't justify Catra ofc, but it does show that Catra actually cares about Scorpia and what was in s4 was rather an exception, than what their relationship actually is. During it, Catra hated herself for what she did, she became like a "full" villain, she was angry on herself and on everyone else and focused on her goal to destroy the rebelion and started ignoring everything else that was and still is important to her, like Scorpia. So, after such a huge action, that has changed the war so much, that Catra had more things to care about than ever. What Im saying is that Catra's anger in s4 wasn't aimed at Scorpia. Scorpia just happened to be a scapegoat of Catra's stress and guilt. While with Adora, Catra did aim her anger exactly at her. And in this case the whole "they were at war" excuse fits much better, since Catra's anger at Scorpia was caused by the stress at the war and the portal, while dor Adora it was just a pure haterd. So, does it make it okay? Absolutely not, it still was unhealthy. But does it change everything and make Catra's relationship with Scorpia and Adora incomparable? Absolutely yes.
And what confirmes this fact is Catra's reaction there:
Tumblr media
First of all, Catra didn't realize how much her words hurt Scorpia. Like I said before, Catra didn't mean to hurt her in the first place, she just wanted to be left alone and to put her anger on someone. And when Scorpia says Catra is a bad friend, she immidiatly realizes it and feels bad about hurting Scorpia, feels guilt. Something she never felt while hurting Adora. When she was hurting Adora, she was enjoying it and didn't think there was her fault, she put it on Adora. However with Scorpia, just when Catra realizes she hurt Scorpia, she immidiatly gets that It was her fault and that Scorpia didn't deserve it. And as we see later, Catra immidiatly stopped acting like this towards Scorpia and started treating her better (for example, sharing her thoughts and feelings with her, as a friend), the only problem is that it was too late.
When Hordak asked Catra where was Entrapta's recording, Catra lied to him, saying she didn't find it, bc she knew if Hordak found out Scorpia has damaged it, she would get in troubles.
Tumblr media
So she takes Hordak's aggression on herself, instead of letting him hurt Scorpia. Just like she did in the prison scene, when she didn't let Scorpia help her get out bc Scorpia would have troubles bc of that. This shows us how much Catra actually cares about Scorpia, even when she is in the wrong and acts toxic.
And the saddest thing is that they actually could be together, happy and in healthy relationship, if only the creators decided to let Catra let go her obsessesion with Adora, for example, in the Crimson waste. I really love the idea of them staying there in s3, instead of returning to the Horde. It seems like it would be much better for everyone. Or at least, if s5 was written better and Catra actually had at least some screen time with Scorpia, they also could leave others and return to the Crimson waste as they wanted to.
So, It's not like I look at Catra yelling at Scorpia in s4 and think "ohh, that's so cute, they should kiss now", It's that their whole relationship was beautiful, complex and dramatic. Bc Catra could be happy with Scorpia, but her obsessesion was stronger and it ruined everything. I'll dare to call it "doomed yuri", bc of how tragic Catra's issues made it
Tumblr media
Well, I think that's all, hope I did answer your questions

BLUSH PIRATES I NEED THEM
OH OH APOKDHGLKGD:JLDL let me just *dies*
ok so I have like two things, actual pirates and then modern au where Blink and Mush play pirates as kids and the school play
Pirate AU-
-Blink is a silly pirate with his crew being Specs, Skittery, Dutchy, Swifty, Bumlets, and Itey (the rest of the newsies are in the town where Blink lives)
-The ship is called Killer Rose and its a nice deep brown with red aesthetic along with a few hints of gold
-Blink grew up in the town Ivory on the island called Theater (see what I'm doing there)
-Medda isn't a Queen but more of a Mayor type but she still takes care of everyone with the help of the council which consists of Bill, Darcy, Myer, Ester, Hanna, Mr. Kloppman
-The kids kinda run around and take up little jobs like working as a bartender, or innkeeper etc (I could so go on with that)
-So Blink makes a crew one day because some kids are tired of it here and Blink wanted to help people and be sort of an army in a way
-YOU WANNA KNOW WHY
-BC AN EVIL KING IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD
-I really don't know how this will work but were gonna make it work
-Quick world budling: so it do be earth with islands but most of them are big enough to have a kingdom ya know along with having enough land to travel on foot
-The one in particular that has the evil King is called, Brookburn, and it's quite a size but the King Pulitzer (fucking try me) wants more but can never have enough
-Katherine lives there with him along with Mush
-Mush is Katherine's personal servant but she treats him as a brother unlike her dad who is so mean to him
-Katherine finds Mush in the forest one day on a walk with her old Nurse who later died
-Mush took the spot the next day and Katherine didn't treat him any different, but her dad doesn't like the idea that he is a boy, still Katherine won the fight, and there besties your honor
-ENTER KID BLINK lksdghlkkhsgdhl
-The crew needed supplies and while non of them wanted to go to Brookburn they had too so here we are
-They meet a boy named Spot who has a gang that works on the docs, Blink made sure to hide their Pirate things seeing as Pulitzer is not a fan, let alone to new people
-The crew easily lied about why there sailing and make their way to an Inn and eat some food
-The next day as there getting supplies and Blink stumbles upon Mush
-Who is also in the market buying things (as one dose)
-this sounds more like a fairytale istfg
-So they play flirt but Mush has to leave soon so Blink asks to see him again and Mush just dies and asks where he can find Blink
-That night Katherine gets all the details and tells Mush to leave early tomorrow, Mush doesn't want too seeing as if her dad found out he would die
-Either way, he goes to find Blink at the Inn, Mush ask him to follow him
-He takes him to a flower field and they talk about everything and nothing
-Blink makes Mush a flower crown and Mush makes him one but there on borrowed time
-Blink has to leave in the morning and he asks Mush to come with him but Mush doesn't want to leave Katherine and Spot and his little gang
-So ofc Blink tells Mush they can all come with him
-Mush wants to so bad but he knows what will happen if they'll all leave
-Blink sees distress on Mush's face and promises to protect him
-They hold hands on the way back to the Inn and Blink offers to walk him home but Mush isn't ready to say who he works for
-Blink tells him he'll be back and kisses him on the cheek
-Mush smiles so big it lights up the street, he runs to the stupid castle and screams on the way there while jumping and laughing but getting back into his room Pulitzer is there questioning him
-He lies and tells him he was out with Spot and met a woman, Pulitzer chuckles and tells him how could anyone love a servant like him
-An hour later Katherine comes to get him but sees him crying, explaining what happened and it was not infact the boy he went to see Katherine makes sure to get Mush extra breakfast in the morning
DO YOU WANT A PT.2 BC IM ABOUT TO DIE SINCE THIS IS GOING ON SO MUCH????
I HAVENT EVEN WENT INTO DETAIL ABOUT THE MODERN AU FOR THIS

Mardi Gras just passed, and my Louisiana ass couldn’t help but make Straw Hat headcanons for the holiday. Please enjoy <3
How the Straw Hats Celebrate Mardi Gras!
First of all, they ofc have their own Krewe. Krewe de Sunny! And their float in the parade is modeled after their loyal ship.
Luffy LOVES the food, dude don’t let this guy get ahold of your crawfish bc he will eat it all. When it comes to the parade, he loves sitting at the front of the float (much like he does his ship) and throwing beads. He will be the one to throw too much and have none left at the end of the parade route, and he will cry about it. But it’s okay! Because he loves seeing the smile on ppl’s face when they manage to catch one that he threw. 10/10 loves this holiday. Also a menace at chase the chicken
Zoro will get fucking plastered. Perhaps will be drink enough to dance around. Won’t do much throwing at the parade, instead he likes to chill on the float with a drink in hand, and if he’s drunk enough he’ll dance around. Will challenge random ppl to drinking contests and they will ALL get lit as fuck because Cajuns can hold their damn liquor. 8/10 hella good beer.
Nami managed to convince the crew to throw a Mardi Gras ball, and she was ofc crowned Queen of the Krewe. She loves being decked out in beads and dressing to the nines. The whole week is a party! She’s absolutely having a blast and loves sitting atop the float in her fancy costume. 10/10 she’s the Queen af
Usopp loves the dancing!!! He can absolutely get down to Zydeco music and would dance until his feet fall off. While on the float, he loves throwing to people and spewing his tall tales of his adventures to anyone who would listen. And yeah, he’s gonna get shitfaced too. The parade is his favorite part, it’s so bright and fun! 10/10 will chase a chicken
Sanji is obviously in change of food for the ball and the whole week leading up to Fat Tuesday. I know this white boy can cook a MEAN gumbo. He loves seeing the ladies in all of their fancy costumes, so the parade is definitely one of his favorite parts. (He heard the rumor that this was a holiday where women would flash ppl and was very disappointed when he realized that it was a great exaggeration. Sorry Buddy, you gotta go to New Orleans for that.) He takes the week to learn how to cook home style Cajun and really enjoys it, especially when Nami and Robin pull up in their Ball fits. 9/10 AWOOGA
Chopper is absolutely that little kid who sits on his dad- I mean Zoro’s shoulders throughout the parade. He loves sitting high up and seeing the parade from above; the other floats, the people lining the streets, the colors and lights, it’s like nothing he’s ever seen. He’s literally in awe of everything, and when he tried King Cake he ascended to heaven. 10/10 so much fun
Robin helped Franky decorate the float, so you know it’s fabulous. She really enjoys the parade and has THE best throws. I’m talking the biggest beads as well as all the cool shit for the kids. Rubber footballs, bracelets, bubbles, plushies, all of it. She mostly throws to the kids and uses her fruit to ensure they catch it. God they’re so cute she can’t help herself. She also really enjoys the music. 10/10 a good time to let loose
Franky, as I mentioned, built the float by hand. It’s definitely the coolest one in the whole parade. It’s got like three decks and the Sunny on the front. It’s fucking sick. Loves the parade so much and can’t help but dance the whole time. I mean, look at this dude. Of course he’s gonna groove. Treats the parade like a big party (I mean, it is) and totally loves showing off his work on the float. 10/10 let’s boogie
Brook. Don’t even get me STARTED. He would LOVE Mardi Gras more than anything. Of course, our man is in charge of the music, and he can throw down some SICK NASTY Zydeco shit. It’s amazing. Also, the dude has an entire Krewe dedicated to him: Krewe de Soul King. He’s got his own float where he blasts music down the whole parade route. People fall ALL OVER this dude. And, of course, my man is King of the Krewe for both the Straw Hats and his own Krewe. He takes this shit to the next level, no one can stop him. 100/10 The King of Mardi Gras
Jinbe is definitely the chill dad. Yeah, maybe he’ll have a drink or two, but he’s here to see the kids have fun. He does enjoy the parade and the ball, he likes the bright colors and noisy fun everyone has. His favorite part is seeing the way the traditions are carried on from generations, but he prefers to kick back and watch as opposed to participating. He won’t really show it at first, but he’s really enjoying himself. 8/10 best dad
I loved doing this, it was really fun! If you wanna, plz drop some other characters so I can slap a Mardi Gras headcanon on them!!!

«────── « HEADCANON » ──────»
Watched Monica (2022) today, which like... You should absolutely watch it. It's a wonderful transfem narrative that isn't about coming out or being subject to violent, brutal transphobia to "show the audience how bad things can be". It's artsy (in the sense the film is, at least on Hulu, in a 1:1 aspect ratio and has a lot of quieter shots). It's comforting. It has a happy fucking ending. But anyway-
Since Trace Lysette is Luna's fc, and a big inspiration to my trans!Luna canon truth, I wrote out some headcanons for everyone's favorite neighborhood watch leader. Most are focused on her gender, bc I know I've posted a little more about her job before-
She moved in with Sarah after obtaining her degree, both because Sarah lived closer to the city and because her family wouldn't take her back, as she'd used her independence to transition socially and medically.
Sarah is one of few family members who didn't outcast/disown her when she'd come out prior to leaving for university. While not able to provide much support, Sarah did give Luna a decent amount of her old clothing she'd been saving to donate prior to her leaving.
She's estranged from her family, but it's hard to keep contact to a minimum when her work with the District Attorney often means working in conjunction with them. Of course, she remains professional and treats them as she would any other officers/legal personnel she works with. That respect is hardly returned, but she bites her tongue as it would put her job further at risk (given raising flags about the BBK investigation and starting her own community watch has put her on the radar).
She doesn't smoke anymore, but she used to while in uni. It was a combination of peer influence, stress management, and so on. She kicked the habit after a few months, when she'd begun to feel sickly.
Luna's chosen name is a product of her fixation on classic literature, which she's always had from a young age. For her 16th birthday, a family member had found a collection of works by the Roman poet Horace, which Luna has read front-to-back more times than she could count. Her favorite story is that of Carmen saeculare, or "Song of the Ages", which was a dedication to Apollo (God of the Sun) and Diana (Goddess of the Moon). While digging into the imagery Horace used to invoke Diana (the "two-horned queen of the stars"), she was interested in how Luna as an entity often came to represent both Diana and Juno (or, in some literatures, Diana with either Proserpina or Hecate) as more of an epithet. This resonated with her, and thus Luna became her name.
Likewise, Luna chose to keep her legal surname despite distancing herself from her family. She briefly considered completely changing her name, distancing herself entirely, but she realized that it was still her name. Her legacy. And it would be a nice way of rubbing salt in the wound to remind the rest of her family that they couldn't get rid of her completely.
Luna would love to be a mom someday. She's kind of put that on the back burner because of her… run-ins with Adam's crew and the BBK, but when things settle down? When she feels truly safe? She would absolutely look into adoption options.

I may have jumped to respond a bit to quickly in assuming that comment was a different tone than I thought. I'm sorry for that lol
I don't think he died *as* Blackbeard, I just think that the story written for Ed to be able to be just Ed (plus my personal theory), Izzy had to die. I don't think he lost unicorn status, I don't even believe the crew ever saw Izzy as Blackbeard, its just us the audience seeing that connection because it was Izzy pushing Ed to be Blackbeard and Ed being the face of Blackbeard - they just were it together. But the crew never treated him *as* Blackbeard. He was "their dick." When Stede revived Ed, Izzy was among the crew and already belonged to them even if he wasn't quite the unicorn yet. If on the whole narrative tool thing, he just was in this case. Izzy was as much of Blackbeard, at least before the events of s1, as Ed was. It'd been his whole life. Him being just Izzy the last 6 episodes wasn't a loss just bc he died? He became integral to the crew. He bonds with Stede, he validated the others belief in the curse, he joined in for Calypso's birthday!! Its not a loss just because it was short?? The crew loved him, gave him a proper burial instead of tossing him at sea. I personally feel weird about his prosthetic being used as a grave marker but others have said better than me about that.
And I still don't think it was a cruel joke, and my personal stance is because Izzy is the representative of "piracy." We were already getting a taste of it just a bit in s1, but in s2 just things like with Blackbeard and the wedding massacre, Ned Low being a terror, and with Ricky we really see a harder side to piracy outside of our crew and some small towns the crew stops at. Ricky obliterates all of Zheng's ships and effectively had Spanish Jackie's halted at least for a second. Piracy is being taken out. And Izzy's speech to Ricky should have warned us all. Honestly. And with Izzy giving it - he is the representative of "piracy." But I don't think it's new piracy. We watched Stede create a mutiny of Ned Low's crew against Low and Zheng had this way different style of pirating despite being brutal herself when need be - I think piracy, at least in OFMD isn't inherently just like Blackbeard pre-ofmd or even just like Low. I think piracy is community that finds itself in whatever way it needs to and Zheng and Auntie (abiet a hard relationship until Olu), Stede and the crew of the Revenge, and even Spanish Jackie's bar with her 20 husband's (that got soft canonized as including women husband's? So bisexual queen, that Jackie) is telling us the audience that piracy that works is a rejection of the empire heteronormativity and toxic masculinity. I think the biggest tell that the Blackbeard-esque piracy was nonsustainable in terms of true community was Fang's conversation with Ed. Ed was a terror as Blackbeard, they'd worked together for years and years and only after "Blackbeard died" kinda and Ed is in his potato sack trying to be Ed does Fang open up to him. Idk, I have my own thoughts on this theory and I haven't seen anyone else talk about Izzy being piracy except the Muppets comparison so take it or leave it lol
And despite all the Blackbeard stuff and my thoughts on Izzy being "piracy," he was more than that. That's why so many not-fans became Izzy fans. I Loved him this season, and it was bc he was very well acted and written. A flatter or more static character wouldn't have gotten this reaction out of all of us, it'd just be the canyons.
About agency -- If you think it's stupid, too, that he got shot and died vs Stede surviving at least two stabbings, Ed surviving getting stabbed, Auntie surviving an explosion (I'm glad she lived but damn lol), I agree. I think its a failure somewhere I the writing and they didn't give him a more??? Better death? I like your idea that he saves someone. I personally would have liked it to be maybe Jim if not Stede bc Jim is wearing one of his gloves in the end and it makes me think they were closer than shown.
And I think I'm only confused on the part you talk about independent elements vs the whole. I just think the overall flow of the story or the overall steps in the show all work really well and flow? I feel like i just saw it all fit together really well, so trying to take out Izzy's arc(?) to examine it doesn't seem useful? I think im misunderstanding you there but idk. Rewatching, I felt like I could see Izzy's death from s1 so I'm just confused
You did not use homophobic or transphobic in your text at all. That was a reach I've made because, following the izzy tag and ofmd tag, I saw a good handful of people saying things like that. That it was homophobic that Izzy died because he had a queer arc, making this byg's. Or how bc Izzy did drag, it was transphobic to kill him off despite at least one other drag queen and the canon trans character Jim still with us?? But you didn't say those words. I kinda want to apologize for that bc I jumped, thinking I needed to. I am a little surprised you haven't seen it tho. Like not even a single post? Bc it was going real big for a second there on my timeline here on tumblr. I don't use Twitter lol. I'm insulted lmao
I hope I spelled everything right. I've tried proof reading it and I don't know where to cut bc I'm trying to be understandable.... but I'm sorry it's so long again.
I like how I'm an "Izzy Hater" just for the fact I didn't become delusional and hinge the entirety of a show on one of the antagonists living or dying. 🙄
Tumblr media
Like I legitimately liked Izzy. I was actually very sad he died.
But Izzy isn't the main character. Today I'm seeing posts that are of the sentiment, "we never said he was," but the hard core Izzy stans sure have been acting like this is equivalent to, idk. Killing Eve.
There's been great posts discussing Izzy being the show's antagonist within the crew and discussing the toxic dance that was Blackbeard and Izzy Hands. A very solid argument has been that Izzy couldn't be around for Ed to be Ed.
My personal argument is that Izzy was fated to die all the way back from S1. That he is the representative of "piracy." And as piracy is ending or dying out, Izzy dying represents that.
I do have problems with Izzy dying. But also I don't have enough of an issue to have deluded myself into calling this Bury Your Gays, I don't think Jenkins is a homophobe or transphobe like I've seen him be called on here, and I don't think it's transphobia just from a viewing perspective of Jim being trans and having had a beautiful arc both seasons and the Wee John being Calypso and not dying either??? Like the entire cast is queer, yall are so off your rockers with some takes that I have no sympathy for even though I was upset too.
It's genuinely concerning just how differently you all watched the show.
And as like a final take away - I guess the canyon happened bc people were horrendous to Izzy fans. That's not acceptable, I'm sorry that happened. This is an ahistorical romcom, the other extreme end of this fandom is wrong as well but in this case worse imo. That's shit behavior and true Izzy haters deserve to trip and knock out their front teeth for online harassment like that.
But having fucking critical thought (having a small opinion in my case) isn't hating on something. Damn. Throw your diploma away because it's fucking useless if this is your reaction to anything that doesn't fit into your fanon.
Jesus fucking christ. Drink some damn water and chill out.

Can you please tell us more about the Elita’s death in the cops and mobs Au? Btw absolutely love your ideas and your brilliant art
(First off TY!!! I’ve worked hard on their outfits and backstories so that rly means a lot 👉👈💕)
There’s a few things from tfa canon that are definitely a BIT harder to translate over into a 1920’s/50s esque AU, that being like why can Blitzwing STILL have three faces when he’s not a triple changer?? Or how does the Longarm/Shockwave thing work out without shapeshifting?? Or Why do the insecticons exists without Blackarachnia’s genetic splicing?? Or like Why does Blackarachnia look so different from Elita when space spiders didn’t attack her??
So to kinda make Blackarachnia’s changes work with the already sort of steampunkesque incorporated within the AU, I’m gonna say that it was the toxic chemicals that exploded in the warehouse that caused her altered looks! (Pls take this w a grain of salt! Ofc gaining multiple EYES is definitely far fetched but for the sake of plot and keeping her pretty tfa design intact, we’re just gonna nod our heads at CHEMICALS)
At the very least, when the drug warehouse exploded in a nasty hellfire of practically toxic fumes, her biology would’ve been altered in some way allowing for the purplish skin, terrifying and gross enhanced sight, and ofc her immediate curiosity in pushing the boundaries in her own past chemistry studies to now something FAR MORE sinister and deadly.
THAT BEING SAID more on Elita’s death:
So as I mentioned in a few of her tags, Op, Elita, and Sentinel all go way back all the way to their private school days. Op was ofc always the third wheel while Sentinel and Elita had a constant off and on relationship.
To be honest, Sentinel and Elita only engaged because Elita gave him an ultimatum or she’d leave him for good, Sentinel ofc took the bait and Elita now has to sit a think about how it took a threat to get someone to commit to loving her.
Elita has always had attachment issues from an emotionally neglectful childhood (Ultra was a young parent, her was immediately married off by his father asap to hide Elita’s origins. Ultra suffered from some really bad postpartum depression and hardly wanted anything to do with Elita, poor girl. Her Stepsire knew she was a bastard, he didn’t want much to do with her either) So Elita has always had to beg for attention, unfortunately her relationship with Sentinel was no different.
Elita of course despite having an emotionally neglectful childhood still had her taste for adventure. While Sentinel and her definitely had their issues, he never made her or Optimus’ lives boring. The three stuck together after graduation and practically spent their early adult lives bumbling around. Elita found her passion in the chemistry field, and both Sentinel and Op were now cops together at the time of the accident.
Sentinel, being a complete idiot he was, dragged his partner AND fiancé on that unapproved response to a tip on Mob activity. Elita was eager to help of course, the warehouse held fascinating narcotics that could land her name some fame (and hopefully some praise from her distant Carrier) if she could say she aided in the break of the Mob’s case.
But ofc, Sentinel fooled around where he shouldn’t be, triggered the fail-safe self destruction of the entire warehouse with his fiancé far too deep in the building to be reached in time by Optimus OR Sentinel, then blamed Optimus for the whole shebang despite OPTIMUS being the one who had to be pulled back from reentering the flames, from there we know exactly how that turned out for Optimus.
Elita was left to burn by her best friend and fiancé. She had been left again and in the worst way possible this time, she was alone and they had abandoned her when she need them most. The chemicals wracked her brain and she passed out before finding a proper escape. You can imagine her surprise when she woke up to find the small, but well know gang The Insecticons tending to her.
Lost, hurt, betrayed, and left with no option but to bury herself and her past, Elita took on the new Name Blackarachnia when the gang welcomed her into their group. As disorganized as they were and despite Elita being by far the youngest and least experienced in the gang, they desperately needed a leader with some brains. Blackarachnia took the crown and has been their best Miss Boss they could hope for.
BA has her life together now. It may not have been the pitucre perfect one she’d hoped for with a husband, perhaps a home of her own with a few little ones running around her feet, but she now is her own boss. SHE makes the calls and has complete control of her gang, all the while putting a grand ol middle finger to her dear Chief of Police Carrier and ex fiancé by fueling the Mob’s weapons supply.
Blackarachnia is surround by her doting, stupid, but powerful lackeys and is in Megatron’s good graces. Life has never looked so good.

you got any post-nectar of immortaltiy headcanons? Like the potatoes' high school years or how they could meet kara again or something?
YES!!!
so many ideas.
i for one, thing that the potatoes Do Not Care about the otherworld's stupid little rules. so, they would absolutely "accidentally" bump into kara somewhere and play it off as an accident.
Aru: oh no! we accidentally ran into kara! and triggered her memories!! oh no!
(thanks to the server for this hc!)
ooh, and some more
Aru and Aiden are dating now, which means they get WAY more restrictions. if they're going to sleep over, even when it's with other people, they need to be as far apart as possible
in addition, their curfew is 8 now, which both Aru and Aiden think is stupid, because when they weren't dating, they've come back home at 3 in the morning
everyone but the potatoes seem to think Aru and Aiden are like, super flirty with each other, and while they are, after the new-ness of their relationship wears off, it seems like Aru and Aiden have been dating for way longer than they actually have. they're like an old married couple that everyone thinks is divorced bc they argue a lot.
they don't really argue that much, but it seems like it
Aru simply Does Not Give A Fuck about her school at this point. she's here to study, do homework, go home, and study for her tests.
and on top of that, Urvashi is trying to get her to specialize a bit more in dance
she doesn't really have any idea whatsoever of what she wants, but she's going to try everything until she finds it
Mini, on the other hand, knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. this girl has a five-step plan on how to get into Harvard or some equally pretentious school, and she is focused on doing it.
she gets very deep eyebags and uses DeeDee to illusion them away
Bryne is going more into sports and the cooking-type stuff, so she's hoping to get into a school based on her sports
Bryne doesn't really have to worry about college that much, because she's a #rich kid
Aru and mini are jealous
rudy treats mini like a queen, and tries to learn how to cook and clean for her
he says that he's going to be a housewife, so he doesn't need to study
however, he has been getting into more music theory and producing it
Aiden has to do his regular otherworld stuff on top of his Pandava and school stuff, so he's a walking corpse
he regularly curses the otherworld system
once kara gets her memories back, he gets into a hilarious rivalry with Kara over nothing at all
Aiden: why do i have to know you
Kara: pretty people know pretty people, Aiden
aiden rolls his eyes and gets back to work
Nikki and Sheela are starting middle school, and it's a very emotional moment
middle school is rough, but nikki is both an angel in front of the teachers, and a devil when she's cursing out those popular kids
she gets popular in her own niche group with Sheela, but isnt really well liked anywhere else
shes brilliant though, because she has self confidence
Hira goes to a pretty specialized easygoing school, and she learns what she needs to
the tpq crew all hang out and have fun<3
also, they have legal complications with the otherworld in a court case that is highly televised and they win

One more (accidentally long) post about The Highlanders for tonight, bc there were lots of little things I wanted to mention but some of them tie together anyway & I got interrupted while trying to watch it, too:
I really like how the story starts out with the perspective of the McLaren clan remnants fleeing the battlefield. It sucks a bit in reconstruction because they hardly have any dialogue, but they even get into a censor-cut-clip of Alexander killing a redcoat chasing them, all before we even see the Tardis team. I think it was a good choice just because it’s such a strange idea for an episode in some ways - it’s really a pretty comical historical, as things go, and it takes place directly after the battle of Culloden, with the narrative focused on sympathizing with the defeated Highlanders, and those aren’t two things I would’ve thought could be brought together very well, even in a time travel show that also once had a comedic episode about Nero burning down Rome.
Granted, I’m writing this as someone who knows that the next installments feature scenes like beating lawyers over the head and locking them in cupboards, the Doctor playing dress-up, and Houdini tricks saving people’s lives, but even in the course of the first episode, the flow from an atmosphere of seriousness to one of comedy is already underway, and for the most part I think the two are merged pretty cleverly (as soon as they’re in danger of being hanged, the Dr von Wer stuff starts up, for example)
But mostly, I was thinking about that juxtaposition today in relation to Kirsty, who I kinda don’t think I’ve ever paid enough attention to before, honestly, and I think that’s why this post turned out so long. A couple of lines that’ve always stuck out to me are when she & Polly see the troops getting ready to hang their friends, and Kirsty says “we can but mourn” causing Polly to go “well crying’s no good” before she suggests they try leading the troops off - and they stuck out to me not because they’re particularly representative of each of their characters, even, but because I think that might be the simplest example of where The Highlanders gets its drive from, as a story.
Like, Kirsty’s sensible - she’s the one who notices they captured a doctor, and begs Alexander to let him treat their father, she’s even willing to bargain that they can kill him and his friends later, if it’s any help. After that, she’s reluctant to leave him, but when the Doctor points out they need water and says he’ll send Polly with her to even out the numbers, she agrees. It’s framed as a cliffhanger right now, but at the end of the episode she decided that this weird, oddly-dressed, and woefully ignorant woman (who’s just insulted her) is going to get lost and injured in the dark so she warns her against it, and then tries to help her when that fails. She’s really quite capable of being level-headed. She also isn’t squeamish, or cowardly, and when Polly balks at her way of doing things - in this episode, the cattle raids specifically, she isn’t - well, cowed, if I’m allowed the pun - she (quite correctly) looks at Polly as the one who’s strange and out-of-place here. Polly’s supposed to be written as a ‘modern woman’ who can inspire action in a historical ‘traditional’ one, but Kirsty’s too busy being a highlander in the wake of culloden to be all impressed by that, so we’re spared any of those “aw gee you’re awfully outspoken for a woman, I wish I could be brave like you” -type moments you get in some other cases where the show uses that dynamic, even to a good end - like when Sarah Jane tells the queen of Peladon about women’s lib, for instance.
And yet Polly’s ideas do help, but it’s not because she’s so much more progressive than Kirsty - she just happens to be exactly what Kirsty needs right now, and what the whole setting needs from the Tardis crew, if they’re gonna pull off the story they’re attempting to tell.
The Battle of Culloden isn’t exactly known for being a great, clean, easy fight, and while it might be famously on the short side (which is even referenced within this same episode) it was far from being one sudden horrible event that came out of the blue - historically, the lead-up over the last 24 hours would’ve been a pretty grueling and exhausting ordeal for those involved on the Jacobite side, and while I don’t recall The Highlanders ever making explicit reference to those particulars, it does convey an atmosphere of hopelessness and defeat pretty thoroughly. In this episode Colin has lines about ‘all the men’ of their clan lying dead in the mud, how he should be with them, and later on in the story he’ll talk about being content to die on the Anabel if only he could see his daughter one last time. When Alexander snaps at Jamie for making noise with his chanter, Jamie tells him the redcoats’ll be there soon enough to matter what they do, and on the scaffold he’s ready to be hanged with his Laird unless Grey agrees to take both of them. Even Alexander, who seems the most spirited of the highlanders we meet in this episode, doesn’t seem capable of setting his goals any higher than going down fighting, rather than being hanged, and since that’s exactly what kills him it doesn’t read as a particularly wise or noble hope to hold. None of them have given up, mind, but they’re in an incredibly defeated mindset, and in comparison Kirsty’s attempts to help her father really make her the more practical and proactive of the bunch. She’s well aware that “crying’s no good,” but at the point when Polly says that to her, she’s well past believing there’s any good left that she can accomplish.
In reality,  it’s Polly’s optimism that’s irrational - and while the Doctor’s not there to call her naive, he’s just done it with Ben (’you’ll have every english soldier within miles’ - ‘well what’s wrong with that?’ - ‘whats- you should’ve paid more attention to your history books ben’), and Polly’s similar faith in the English soldiers (would everyone in 1966 be so confident that the Hanoverian army wasn’t allowed to hang prisoners without the officer present? I’ve always wondered about that line, to me it makes her seem both oddly well-informed and at the same time more foolish) directly parallels Ben’s stance, and we know how quickly that comes back to bite him, since the soldiers proceed to go ahead and try hanging him too.
As a tv show, that’s where the Dr von Wer stuff needs to come in, to lighten the mood with a silly voice and some snappy one-liners, but in-universe, that’s also the reason that Kirsty needs somebody like Polly -  someone who doesn’t belong, and whose actions don’t really make sense. Someone who’s just been dropped here without the baggage and defeat of everything that came before, someone to whom this is a sudden bad turn of events and not the end of a long hard struggle (to say nothing of someone awake and alert) to whom giving up now would feel like not trying at all, rather than already having given it everything they’ve got. If Polly were actually in Kirsty’s position, she might not’ve been able to do much more than mourn either, but Polly standing next to Kirsty with a totally different (and frankly, flawed) perspective on things is able to make the suggestions that are past care or belief at that point, which is a character dynamic worth watching, and probably why having the Tardis team being comedic despite their dismal circumstances is the only way to coax action out of them that can drive a narrative forward.
It doesn’t land Polly in a particularly good light - a character nicknamed ‘the Dutchess’ yelling “you’re just a stupid peasant” at the woman who just brought her shelter and offered her food (which she scoffed at) and then marching out into the night claiming she’ll save the day only to immediately need rescuing from that same woman herself never will look all that good - but it does do a lot to show how out-of-her-element Polly is, and how it’s not a case of her Being From The Future making her better than Kirsty, but rather a case of her just being Something Different allowing her to suggest certain things that Kirsty can’t imagine doing right now, but is plenty capable of helping her with once they have made the plan.
I don’t even think I have any grand point I’m trying to arrive at here, I just kept noticing how the tragedy is used to set the scene in this episode but the action has to pushed on more by comedy, whether it takes the form of actual jokes or the inherent ‘hilarity’ of putting things together that just don’t belong - probably because setting the episode in the wake of the battle, it’s such a defeated, inevitable brand of tragedy, too - Alexander dies and the show barely stops to acknowledge it because of course he did, what else could’ve happened, and now everyone else is about to die too. The attitude is almost that the characters might as well try some ridiculous ways out of their situations because all the normal things are hopeless, and once you’ve accepted that what else have you got to lose? I think it does a good job of picking out the differences between its characters rather than their similarities, and since the Doctor’s behavior in the later episodes gets described as morally gray a lot, I think it’s kind of important how in this episode, neither Polly or Kirsty’s approaches are painted as being totally right, they’re just different, but that’s also a good thing, because neither of them is gonna get anywhere on their own.

“What do you know about Pandora?”
“Wife to Epimetheus, beautiful, sculpted by the Gods, the perfect lady, had a vase she was told to never shatter, super curious, so she unleashed all the evil in the world… I sense a lesson coming.”
“Pandora did a lot more than just bring evils into the world. Do you know why the Gods made her?”
“Punishment I presume? Everything always harkens back to punishment.”
“She was a punishment from the Gods to man. A God who made humans stole for us fire. They chained him to a rock, and every day a vulture would come and pick at his liver, and every day he would suffer immense pain and regenerate. The Gods made Pandora then to punish humanity.”
“Why would they do that? They knew the culprit, they sorted them out, so why continue and drag it out onto the rest of us? Isn't that some sort of war crime?”
“Today, yes. Back then, there was no such thing.”
“Mmm… I guess that explains a lot of things. Wasn’t there also one good thing left behind? Hope?”
“In some retellings, yes.”
“Mom’s books say there was hope. She circled and underlined it a bunch.”
“And why do you think that is?”
“If the evils were a punishment, and hope was trapped inside the jar with them… the evil things were a message. There is no way to escape, outsmart, outtrick, or outlive the Gods. There is no escape. And hope… can always be there. At the heart of it all. Hope is also a will of the Gods. Just like everything else that was in the vase.”
“Smarter than me, as bright as your mother. Well done, солнышко моё.”
Growing up, Buddy had very few friends her age. The ones she did have were either scared off by Palomine, or scared off by Buddy. It left her an awful lot of time alone. Time that she spent reading and studying. Time that she spent hanging around the countertop of Palomine’s bar, asking the other patrons to share with her one of their stories. And oftentimes he would find her and shoo her upstairs, handing out complimentary drinks as apologies. Occasionally he wouldn't find her and occasionally she got to hear stories beyond her comprehension.
That was how she heard about the Carte Blanche. A regular of her father's came in and sat down at the bar. A younger Buddy Aurinko slid up next to them and talked about Odysseus. She knew the epic as well as the back of her hand but never wrapped her head around it quite right. The regular she sat with however was good conversation and explained it very easily. Their patience for her temper proved something wrong about Palomine.
The regular listened to her like always and laughed in her face when she said that she would have never returned home if she were Odysseus. They asked if she had ever stepped foot on a ship before and offered to show her theirs. Buddy readily agreed.
It was a week-long trek to reach the port they had docked in. And, at the time, the Carte Blanche went by a different name. Its sails were a drab cream color and the bow had a half naked siren strapped to the front. She was hideous. Buddy fell in love instantly.
That regular died suddenly four years later. Their wife found Buddy at the bar and slid to her a will. They wanted you to travel the seas. They hoped that someday you would find your Penelope.
She spent months scraping barnacles off the haul and removing that damn siren from the bow. The sails were the easiest to replace. The days of cream colored past were behind them now. Navy blue sails brought her all around Hellas Basin. The end of an era. The winds were changing and the seasons were rolling into each other as Buddy finished painting her ship's new name, Carte Blanche.
Now she was Captain of her own ship. She left Palomine to take control of her future, to reign in her own destiny, and now here she was. Captain of her own ship, of her own life, her own destiny. Finally out from her father’s reach– except she wasn’t allowed to die. And her life wasn’t hers alone to dictate anymore, not so long as Jet and M’tendere were with her… And Palomine had tried to bargain for his life with hers… And she’s going back to the bar where she left him four months ago.
The voyage to the Cerberus Province was lonely and cold. Buddy had always dreamed of wrangling together a crew of misfits like her and Vespa to sail Hellas Basin with. She dreamed of someday retiring and growing old with Vespa. Getting to sit under their own vine and fig tree. Relaxing in the shade together, at home with the knowledge that they had put their best foot forward. That they had tried to better the lives of people like them, and given their best efforts for someone else’s chance of survival.
On the third night aboard the Blanche, M’tendere sings Buddy and Jet part of a song. They call it their Key.
“It sounds lovely darling.”
“Thank you,” M’tendere strums their guitar a bit more. “If there’s a song you’d like me to play, I will happily play it for you, Captain.”
“Please, call me Buddy.”
“No can do, Captain. Jet and I are guests on your ship. You invited us on board and you’re helping me smuggle fire away from Hadestown. The least I can do is show you a bit of respect.”
On the fifth night, Jet stands at the helm of the ship. One hand planted on the wheel, the other holding the lamp. The fire inside has been burning now for almost two weeks straight. Possibly longer. M’tendere never answers her when she asks how and when they stole the fire.
Speak of the devil, they’re turning out to be pretty bad at the whole sailing thing. Jet is a natural. M’tendere… would have probably faired better taking a month to skirt around Hellas Basin avoiding the road and tracks to Hadestown than ever stepping foot on the Blanche. For now M’tendere has kept to the lower deck. Much darker and damper, they’re starting to develop a cough. Jet doesn’t seem worried, so until he is neither will Buddy.
Buddy slides up next to Jet, two of M’tendere’s scarves wrapped around her throat.
“Your fingers are white.” She glances at Jet and back down at her hands. “Why haven’t you said anything?”
“Why didn’t you ask me sooner? If you knew this whole time, why hold off? If you care so deeply about my health–”
“I didn’t ask because I was waiting for you to mention it. M’tendere said that you would when you were in enough pain.” He pauses, and if it were locked into other season and Buddy any other person, she might have turned a beautiful shade of pink. “I care for your health, Buddy, because you are alone. You are walking a dark path, one that I have beared witness others walk before, and it never ends the way you or they hope.”
She scoffs, “Oh don’t be ridiculous, I’m not like other people. You don’t know the first thing about me. We hardly know each other.”
Jet nods passing off the lamp to her. Buddy accepts it without a second thought and for a brief moment, she thinks she might have caught hint of a smile.
“You’re right, we don’t.”
A long stretch of silence wraps around them. Eventually the pain in Buddy’s joints makes itself known. She bids Jet a fair night and descends to the lower deck to join M’tendere. They greet her with a cough and refuse to accept the lamp. For the rest of the night Buddy keeps it close to warm her hands.
On the ninth day, the seas are rough tossing the Blanche around. Buddy steers, while Jet stands on the bow keeping an eye out for rocks.
That night it’s calm enough that M’tendere joins them above deck. They play a few songs intermittently asking Buddy questions in between. It strikes her at some point that while it’s a game to her, it’s a dance to them.
“How long have you been sailing?”
“Only a few years. How long have you and Jet been traveling together?”
“We travel separately most of the time. You got found at a very lucky and rare time when we’re stuck together.”
“M’tendere asked me to help them fulfill their dream.”
“Oh really? And what is your dream?”
M’tendere sighs and leans back against the mast. Their head tilts at an awkward angle searching for constellations in the sky. “I wanted to help people. Balance out all the bad things that I’ve done in the name of Hades.”
So you stole fire goes unsaid. Just like Promethus.
“What is your dream, Buddy?” She looks up at Jet, who again has claimed his spot at the helm. Her damn ship that half the time she doesn’t even get to man anymore.
“My dream?” She chuckles, “I wanted to help people. Give back, uplift, and empower. But that time has come to pass now. What’s done is done they say… What is your dream, Jet? Don’t suppose it’s also to help people?”
“How disappointed would you be if I said it is?” This time, she does get to watch him smile. It’s bright and glorious and could fill up a whole room. And when Buddy laughs, M’tendere does too. They break into a coughing fit that lasts longer than usual. Again, Jet does not seem concerned. Despite this, Buddy tries not to either. M’tendere plays a final song that night, Their Key, and heads down to rest.
In the morning there is a thick sheet of ice that formed on the bow. Buddy takes a crack at it using part of an old rusted anchor. She instructed Jet to search for an ice pick in the cargo hold. M’tendere hasn’t moved a muscle. It’s fine. Just four more days. They can rest.
Jet emerges from the belly of the beast. Buddy steps aside to allow him to take over.
The voyage to the Cerberus Province was lonely and cold. Had she not died somehow without Jet or M’tendere’s aid, the return trip back would’ve been no different. It would have been harder. It would have been colder. She might have actually died.
“Jet,” he stops mid-swing to look back at her, “ask me again. Ask me again why I want to die.”
He turns towards her, rolling his shoulders back, standing at full height. Grimly, she is reminded of depictions of psychopomps in her mother’s old texts. Shadowy figures that slip on billowing robes. Some with animal heads. Others so handsome and flawless that they had to be immortal. But when she blinks the winter sun bathes Jet in cool light. Chasing away the shadows on Jet’s face, bringing into focus his heavy leather winter coat. Scars his hands remind her that he bleeds too.
“Buddy Aurinko.” She takes a deep breath. The voyage was to the Cerberus Province was cold and lonely… “What happened to make you want to die?”
They say it took Odysseus 20 years to journey home. 10 years fighting the Trojans, and 10 years lost at sea. When he returned home, he returned in disguise to win his wife’s hand in marriage and scare off the competition. He accomplished a little more than that, but he had his wife. He got back his Penelope.
The voyage to the Cerberus Province was cold because it shouldn’t have been made alone. Odysseus fought and won the war. Odysseus got to go home to be with the one he loved. Buddy Aurinko, wouldn’t even get so much as a final goodbye.
“I lost someone. I lost– I lost Vespa. I lost her and my dream and I can’t bear a life without her.” She wipes the stinging tears from here eyes. She turns her back and walks away. Not once did she let Palomine see her cry, Vespa only saw her cry in joy, and she wasn’t about to start sobbing a second time in front of Jet.
Buddy plants herself at the helm and watches Jet resume chipping away at the ice. Just four more days. Just four more days.
That night she sits with M’tendere on the lowest deck. The scarves they loaned to her are rolled up tight to support their neck. They wheeze with each breath. In the relative quiet, she tries to think back to what Vespa would do. What Vespa would say.
“Goddess hands, guide me.” She mutters under her breath as she clasps M’tendere’s thin wrist to count their heartbeat. There has to be something. Anything. If Vespa were here she would know what to do and how to treat them. She would probably say something like… like…
Vespa’s voice is slipping from her mind. Goddess forgive her. What would go next? Her face? Her touch? Rough lips on soft skin. Green has never been her color but it always belonged to Vespa.
"Captain," Buddy does not flinch as M'tendere's body seizes into a coughing fit. The end is near. Death approaches. She has always hated goodbyes, and loathed letting go. How could she when all the people she lets herself love die in the end? She refuses to believe it, wants to object like Jet did. You can’t be dying yet, we have four more days until we dock.
She swallows a lump forming in her throat and nods. "Keep your strength. I'll fetch Jet." She pats M'tendere's cheek and heads up to the main deck of the Carte Blanche. They have at most four more days until they can dock at the harbor. And another week maybe before a doctor can come. Just four more. Four more and one week… They don't have a week though. Or four more days.
"Jet," Buddy finds him again chipping ice off the bow. He looks up. It's hard to read his expression buried underneath all his layers. "It's M’tendere." He nods and goes to her office to retrieve M'tendere's precious instrument.
When he makes it to their bedside, Buddy has them propped up by every linen blanket and wool stuffed pillow they have on board. Jet offers the instrument but they shake their head. M'tendere has never refused to play them a song. They promised they always would. I’ll happily play it for you, Captain. Nothing would make her happier now than to hear their strong voice.
"I have one last one for the road." They suppress a cough and wipe blood from the corner of their mouth. "My Key."
Once upon a time M'tendere's voice used to lull Buddy to sleep. The voice of an angel. And now, wrecked by pneumonia, it's little more than a frogs croak. She surprises herself still able to recall what that sounds like.
M'tendere sings and hums a quiet peaceful tune. Tears roll freely down Buddy's cheeks. She never allowed her father to see her cry. She would move mountains though to allow M'tendere to see her cry another day.
A second voice picks up the tune. Quieter, deeper. She glances at Jet and finds him plucking the strings of M'tendere's guitar. Finding the right chords. They point and smile when he gets it right.
Four days later, Jet and Buddy Aurinko dock on the other side of Hellas Basin. A snowstorm picks up keeping them cooped on board the Carte Blanche for another week with a decaying corpse. Neither of them speaks much, not even a whistled tune.
The town they docked in is on the outskirts of Hyperion City. A couple of days worth of travel through the snow and they’ll reach Palomine’s bar soon enough. For now, Buddy takes down her navy blue sails and sells them for a quick cred. With that money, she rents them a small room on land to stay in. The whole time she keeps M’tendere’s little fire clutched close to her chest. Humming their key.

opinions on riordanverse ; my edition
a lot of people have been doing this so i decided why not right. probably gna lose some followers or smth but anyways. pls respect my opinions! if u disagree, thats fine, but please be polite. unless any of my opinions strikes u as morally wrong then pls point it out to me respectfully. thanks!
- i actually liked drew. im so sorry to everyone who hates her but full offence, why. think about it this way ok, first of all drew became hc because silena died. silena was the traitor, the one who betrayed chb, yet after she died campers celebrated her as a hero? and then drew suddenly has to replace her and live up to idk that legacy she left behind,, when all of a sudden this girl named piper swoops in and takes her place. idk abt u but i wld be salty abt that too. not only that, but as an asian, the chances of drew having faced racism/bullying as a child is pretty high (she studies at brooklyn academy). which means that when she finds out shes a demigod, and arrives at chb where most of the campers are white (this is an assumption btw), she’d obviously be scared of being bullied for her skin color right?? so the first thing she wld do before the campers get to bully her is to bully them before they can do so. (sentence structure here is wack i apologize) ofc this might not even have happened, drew could have had a perfect childhood && was a b1tch for no reason, BUT EVEN THEN HER ROLE AS A BULLY WAS PRETTY VITAL BECAUSE THAT FURTHER SHOWED THE CONTRAST BETWEEN HER AND PIPER,, HIGHLIGHTING PIPER AS A HERO//GOOD CHARACTER,, AND THEREFORE MAKING READERS LIKE PIPER MORE. anyway stop hating on drew please. ALSO WHY IS THIS SO LONGA SDFJHG
- jason isnt bland, the fandom just kinda erased his backstory (thanks to @pjohoo-memes for the phrasing lol)
- reynabeth wouldnt have lasted/would have broken up several times. idk i just see them as two extremely powerful characters who have firm opinions and will definitely clash at some point. in a platonic relationship,, i can see them as really good friends but as lovers? idk i just think theyll break up
- PIPABETH
- i dont really like jercy,, i see them as better friends than lovers. also idt jason and percy were that close..?
- the dam and not my type jokes are srsly cringey and were never funny. ik that seems hypocritical since my username literally makes use of the dam joke but honestly i dont actually like the joke. its not funny to me and has never been funny
- the seven were not best friends. they definitely argued,, and honestly probably werent as close as the fandom makes them seem. like ure dumped with 6 other people, out of which u only know a few. my introverted ass would have jumped off the argo 2 quicker than leo valdez could bomb camp jupiter up. also leo was a dick to frank. so what if frank is bigger sized?? thats not a valid reason to tease him
- the fandom needs to stop hating on octavian while worshipping luke. if u hate luke and u say u hate octavian too, then okay. but if u tell me ure a luke stan but u despise octavian?? imma disagree w u. luke was worse than octavian im sorry. first of all, octavian being a dick was kinda justified. hes been after the praetor position for so long, and everyone keeps saying to “wait for jason” when suddenly this dude, whos a son of NEPTUNE (neptune wasnt liked much by romans), and the camp decides to make him praetor?? dude i would be pissed off big time. and then afterwards, he finds out that greek demigods are real and the dude they made praetor is greek. AND THEN GREEK DEMIGODS COME TO CJ AND ONE OF THEM BOMB IT UP?? octavian has been told all his life that greeks are scum and this dude called leo valdez attacks cj. sure it was an accident, but did octavian know that? no. so it was honestly justified that he was such a salty prick im just saying. also some of yall be hating on octavian for cutting a teddy bear open and thats the funniest shit ive ever heard i swear
- luke didnt go to elysium
- travis and connor stoll r way too underrated. the two have been head counselors of the hermes cabin since luke was revealed as a traitor, can u imagine the stress? luke, the person they probably looked up to as a brother, betrayed them. and they didnt even have time to process this when they were  thrown the roles of being hcs. that would have been so stressful and i would probably have broken down if i were them. the stoll brothers taking turns to wake up at ungodly hours because a new camper is crying and homesick and terrified, the stoll brothers having to comfort and take care of new campers, having to deal with the amount of people in that cramped space because not enough campers are being claimed fast enough. having to resolve issues between campers in the hermes cabin all the time. the stolls arent just comedic relief, and we need to stop treating them as such
- tratie shldve been canon idc idc
- demigods of the demeter cabin arent talked about enough and i love the fact that meg was demeters kid. like she isnt the child of one of the big three yet shes so powerful.
- we need to hype clarisse up more her character arc was phucking amazing
- rachel is overhated. sis found out greek gods exist and regularly come down to earth to fuck around and went “ok cool”. queen shit behavior methinks
- the floor 19 crew of mcga is srsly underrated. like do u even remember halfborn gunderson, mallory keen, tj, etc??? bc i feel like we only remember samirah, magnus, alex, and sometimes blitz and hearthstone
- sadie (tkc) was kinda annoying at first. i like her more now tho but i rmb not liking her for a phat while
- tkc and mcga need more love
- carter kane and jason grace arent boring. theyre just really sweet boys who are too good for this world and yes yes yes
- hazel and frank (especially frank) need to be hyped up more. i hardly ever see anything about them. also yall seem to forget that frank was literally made praetor and that even hecate admired hazel and was willing to fight beside her because of how powerful she was
- frazels age gap is kinda sketch but i still think theyre really cute
- nico definitely had trauma from going to tartarus on his own
- GROVER IS PERCYS BEST FRIEND
- annabeth isnt smarter than leo but neither is leo smarter than annabeth. ive seen a lot of discussions about who is smarter and heres my hot take on it: neither. theyre equally smart, just in different ways. leos a genius mathematically speaking. he has no issues solving math problems meant for people much, much older than him. annabeth on the otherhand, is great at strategies etc. she can make an army of 1000 more powerful than the enemy, even if theyre outnumbered. so in my opinion, both are equally as smart//u cant compare their intelligence, because their talents lie in two different areas.
- while i do agree rick riordan isnt a god and that hes bound to make mistakes,, AND that hes given us a lot of representation,, if the representation offends the people its sposed to represent, then theres a problem. im talking about piper as a poc and wearing feathers in her hair. im not a poc, so i cant speak for them on whether or not its wrong, because i dont know either. HOWEVER, i have seen multiple posts BY pocs talking about how they didnt really like rick’s representation of piper, and thats an issue. pocs have been and are still oppressed and discriminated against by many. as a white cis man, we cant really blame him for not knowing (tho he could have done a research,, asked some pocs,, idk), but by representing pocs in that manner, hes influencing impressionable kids/teens into thinking “oh pocs wear feathers in their hair all the time” etc, which isnt true. the pjo/hoo series is extremely successful, and kids who read the books will probably start forming inaccurate opinions on pocs. the amount of fan art that depicts piper with feathers in her hair dont help either. “but rick said so in the books, so its canon” yeah well rick isnt a god and he can get some things wrong at times. im not saying we should cancel him, im saying we should start educating ourselves and not spread false info like pocs wearing feathers in their hair all the time. also that snake song shit where she sang Summertime was just- yeah. bc heres the thing you can be racist, and still include minorities, but portray them in a racist way. And even then, ignorance isn't a thing to admire. Getting those facts wrong still has a major impact. It continues to perpetuate racist stereotypes.
“ With the feather thing, I looked it up myself; it takes less than five minutes to figure out that Cherokees don't braid feathers into their hair. I didn't grow up in the country where my parents are from. I have many other first/second generation American friends who have also been through that, with a bit of a disconnect from their culture. But something that most of us have in common is that when we didn't know something, and when our parents weren't that big of a help, we looked it up. We sought out resources online and through other people from our culture to be able to connect more with where we came from. Some of that took a Google search. So I find it hard to believe that Piper, a girl who Rick's trying to portray as someone who is attempting to connect with her culture and is totally against racist stereotypes, wouldn't know that eagle feathers aren't supposed to be braided into your hair casually. She may be disconnected from her culture, but she's also shown to want to connect back to it. Piper wouldn't be casually braiding feathers into her hair while also telling off people for being racist. It makes no sense.” - reddit thread (down below)
for those of yall who wanna know more please please read this, it has a lot of things i wanna add in here : https://www.reddit.com/r/camphalfblood/comments/gy3gl2/piper_mcleans_portrayal_is_innacurate/
as well as https://finding-my-culture.tumblr.com/post/189422373260/maxie-ratties-and-cattie-finding-my-culture
i will be posting screenshots of these in future posts so if ure viewing this on ig and u dont have tumblr,, dont worry
- the fact that most of the strong female characters in the series refuse to be “girly”, and ngl i dont really like that. just because ure girly doesnt mean u cant be strong.
- piper would have been a great way for him to start making the strong characters act girlier, but instead he went with the “I’m not like other girls” trope which is quite obnoxious to hear constantly, and I don’t think it’s necessarily great for younger girls to read that idea growing up.  the closest we've ever had to a strong female character who was also into "girly" things was Silena. when I was younger I admired Piper's "I'm not like other girls" thing, but then I got older and realized that the whole mentality of "not like other girls" is super obnoxious, and a little bit toxic
i have a heck load more that i cant rmb rn but yeah feel free to add more

Heeeeeyyyyyyy boooooooooo~
Have you read anything by Stereden? I am OBSESSED and INSPIRED okay it is AMAZING I love
So yeah.
Those works I spired me into making my own lil AU - Haki is a matter of will. It's an innate thing in all living beings, everyone has Haki, but you have to train to be able to control or sharpen it, and some are born with a special ability to IMPOSE IT ON OTHERS. Roger was among those.
Haki could be boiled down to soul energy.
((Shamelessly dropping another special interest with my one piece ideas mwahahah so evil))
Some of the theories regarding ghosts or repetitive cycles of hauntings is due to the amount of emotional energy affixed to a person or place, OR by the will of the person remaining. If one who died had a strong enough Will to Continue Existing, then it's theorized that they could either remain or pass between the veil.
Roger had v strong Conquerors Haki. He had the Voice of All Things, too.
He was sick and dying and so he chose what he thought was best to act as the end of his time. But I do NOT doubt for a single second that when he was up there on that platform that he could tell Shanks and Buggy were exhausted, scared, hurt, grief stricken and alone.
Where was the rest of his crew? Why wasn't Rayleigh with them? Why hadn't Crocus treated those wounds on theirs? Why was Buggy so worn thin, like a live wire, and why did his little Red feel so hollow and empty? What in the seven Seas happened to his kids?!
He's too weak to break out. The best he can do with misdirect attention from them as best he can. The best he can do is send his haki out to wrap around them, a blanket, armor, whatever they needed bc he'd do it, he'd do it all for them, thise are his kids and he loves them and he pours ever single bit of that love into it.
Roger dies on that platform, but he's still there.
He bears witness to the way the crew meets back up not even an hour after his head hit the cobblestone ground, and he is seething as he watches Rayleigh officially disband the crew. He is frothing when Buggy, voice shaking and thin and pale and everything Roger refused to let the child be ever again, asks through tears, "what do we do now?"
And Rayleigh, face blank, just responds with, "go back to what you were doing, kid. You survived this long."
And Roger is furious, is livid, is terrified and angry and hurt and-
One of the nearby lanterns explodes.
The crew shoots looks that direction, and Roger thinks they might just see him, but nobody reacts beyond his kids blinking hard a few times before looking away. And Oh. Oh, That Is Odd.
Roger is a pirate, a Captain, is deadDeadDeadDeadOhFuckHeIsDead- but he's a selfish man at his core. He has made peace with that.
He watches over Shanks and Buggy, sometimes goes to check on Rouge and her growing little bump. He winds up baring witness to the events of Baterilla, and he is furious beyond reason by the Marines. But he is there to see Rouge's last breath and Ace's first, and hebwatches Garp take his child, just as requested, and he holds his wife in his arms as she joins him in this odd limbo.
They both bare witness, hand in hand, as Shanks and Buggy fight tears, panic attacks, and unfiltered rage as they help dig graves and mourn the losses of innocent lives, and Roger aches when they keep a meticulous count. Rouge cries with every friend and family member she sees lowered into the earth, but she is still trying, futile as it is, to wipe away Buggy's and Shanks' tears, hands gently on their backs and heads and cheeks. She has never met them, not personally, but Roger had told her so much, and these boys are hers as well, hers to love and protect and adore.
The pirate king and his wife, his queen, keep watch over their children, trying to give comfort where they could, protection in any way they can manage.
Roger aches with Ace's hatred. He understands, he'd never blame him for it, but it hurts and he may hate Garp's choices a little more with each glimpse into the situation.
For a long while, things are fine, are normal, make a routine. Three years in, there is a change.
A pulse ripples along the world, jarring and sudden, like a cacophonous drum beat. As quickly as it comes, it goes. Roger and Rouge exchange glances. None of the living have reacted.
They meet Luffy not long after.
His tiny body thrums with energy, heart an odd but not harmful pace and Roger Knows.
He never thought he'd get to see this.
Luffy is still so small, so tiny, but he is loved, so much so.
And, the couple learns, he is the epicenter of so much by way of Fate.
He goes on to become so much to so many, a friend/son to Shanks, a person of interest to Buggy, a brother to Ace, and Roger is cackling over having five whole sons as soon as the cups clink together, much to Rouge's amusement.
Just. Roger ((and Rouge)) watching over their children.
Occasionally even being VISIBLE to others in times of high energy.
Alvida seeing Roger sitting on the edge of Buggy's bed when he spikes dangerous fevers.
Benn seeing Rouge brush Shanks' hair back when he gets blackout drunk after a particularly hard time.
Dadan seeing both parents soothe a sobbing little baby when she was still so new to this parenting thing, and never breathing a word of it.
Chopper occassionally getting glimpses of a giant of a man and a powerful looking woman whe Luffy is badly injured, both gently offering him comfort or standing guard.
Koala occasionally sees strangers in the base when Sabo is sick or hurt or has nightmares.
Whitebeard nearly chokes when he sees Roger sitting next to his son on his deck, smiling fondly at the newly snoring young man and patting his head gently.
Nobody breathes a word of any of this, not for a good long while because stranger things have happened. And besides...
It's good to know the kids are being looked out for.
Oh damn. Okay. I've never really been into ghost stuff and things like this, but this is so cool??? Honestly, turning it into soul energy makes it so interesting. They're there to look out for them and keep an eye on them and it's such a beautiful concept!!! <3

An Extremely Informal And Longwinded List of Black Sails Characters ordered by my Most Favorite to Least, After Watching the Series Twice, For No Reason Except It’s My Blog and I Want To
- coming in at a Close Second to Madi, it’s every other named woman in the show ??  Max? Incredible.  Brilliant. Powerful and limited, complex and driven and deeper every time I think about her arc?? wow. Eleanor? absolute Shakespeare -level tragedy and the best blouses, amazing.  Anne? Holy Hell. Miranda? Lost too soon but still more powerful and insightful as a ghost/psychopomp than most characters on most shows when they’re alive. Full of righteous murder and I love that for her. Abigail Ash?? what a gem , deserved better family, I hope she lives to become a pirate queen. Idelle? comin’ up from left field to be an absolute force of hope and healing and defiance all in one, best stealth character arc.  The Maroon Queen? how does she rule the whole show with like ten minutes of screen time. Need a whole show about her.  Frigging. Charlotte?  an Artist. an Artist dealing with a Terrible Client and so in five minutes flat she was My character omg. Grandma Guthrie? unexpected kingmaker and I love how much of a Story she’s implied to have.  Mapleton? ...ok maybe I don’t care about Mapleton. but otherwise I can’t? pick  a favorite? my favorite is whichever of them is onscreen at the moment and extra when it’s more than one of them , which happens a lot but could never happen enough , not in forty seasons.
- Godammit, Silver. Someone should shove him off the edge of a boat. Everyone  should shove him over the edge of a boat. But I can’t deny he’s a Perpetual Shenanigans Machine and I am always a fan of Shenanigans. Damn my weakness.
Vane?? I care about Charles Vane ??? How did this happen. When. What. I sobbed when he died and I’m still mad about it.
Billy Bones,  who amazingly did Nothing Wrong Ever until he suddenly did EVERYTHING Wrong Forever, and it made sense  and I’m upset about this too but it’s so solid and  aaaaah
Jack Rackham, unexpectedly poignant Comedy Gold
Teach, what a solid Dragon, what an amazing setup and payoff on a character who was only barely there
MR SCOTT , I wish he had SO much more focus, what an absolute revelation of character, absolute exemplar of planting a Character Revelation in a show , all his scenes are a thousand times richer on rewatch , the show  had to kill him bc if he’d lived he’d have solved everything
RANDALL, CHAOS MENTOR, and rightly Judgey Food Service Worker
Mr. Gates, F in the chat again , we only got glimpses of just how much was going on under the surface but it was eNOUGH omg I still tear up watching his speech about Billy
Captain Naft, for some reason a Genuinely Nice Guy who decided he was gonna PIrate and then was Terrible at it?? hilarious.  I’m so glad he got out . Hope he sailed away to star in a Pratchett novel.
Tie between Featherstone and Mr de Groot (F in the chat, buddy, I hope you’re sailing on in a magical world where people respect your technical expertise and practical recommendations), champions of Just Being Good at the Job
Julius, I’m sure he’d be top five if he’d have even thirty combined minutes of screentime but realistically I can only love him for his Potential
likewise every person on Maroon island who never gets any focus, they All Deserved Better but didn’t get it so I can only love them Conceptually
OH HELL, FLINT, I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT FLINT , I want to move him further up the list now but the fact that I didn’t even  remember to include him  until now tells me this is probably a Fair and Accurate ranking of where he stands in my Heart? which is. Completely wild??? he’s  one of the most main of main characters?? But (a) I really truly despise the way he treats his men like disposable straws for most of the series? I mean look how much I love so much of the Walrus crew and then this guy’s going around frigging blowing their brains out and tossing them off ships and obviously We Have a Problem  and (b) I think for me he wound up suffering from overexposure-- not in the show, but in terms of seeing him around Tumblr for years before I watched the show.  I saw all his big speeches and character reveal moments screecapped and gif’d for years, in a way I almost never saw anyone else’s, and when those moments rolled around for me in the series there was always a feeling like “oh, this is where that happens. OK then” , instead of experiencing it as a new emotional revelation. Given that the scenes where he did something I hadn’t  seen gif’d to death were still really powerful for me, I think all those years of out-of-context quotes and caps are really the main thing in play here, and that’s Unfortunate and also very much a  Me Problem, but also it’s just such a visceral emotional thing that I can’t really change the reaction.  Sorry, Captain , you’re great and well-written, I was just Spoilered out of a strong emotional reaction to you. :/
Thomas? Thomas.....
Israel Hands
uuuuh Hornigold and Dufresne I guess? Dufresne in particular is striking to me bc I hate his Choices but the  way he winds up making them is v. sympathetic
uuuh Eleanor’s bodyguards in S1/early S2 I guess?
the pastor who kind of hilariously has no plot relevance to anything ever
....
that’s it
there are no more characters in this show :)
no there aren’t :):)

So, some odd years before Geralt became Warlord, one of the Crane Witchers wants/needs to go to Skellige but no captain wants him on their ship bc Witchers are bad luck (Seamen are the most superstitious people in the entire universe). So the Witcher has given up and is sitting in a tavern, when he gets approached by a pirate queen. She's going to take him to Skellige if he, in turn helps her with a siren problem she's having at the crews home-base/island 1/?
He agrees, they go to Skellige the Witcher takes care of his business and then helps her with her siren-problem. When it's time to part ways, neither of them really want to. The Pirate Queen (let's call her Derya) offers him to become part of her crew. He agrees, mainly bc it's the first time someone has treated him like a person and not like a monster. Over the years they become the most feared pirate crew, and lovers. Every other year he goes on land to spend time with his brothers 2/?
When Geralt takes Skellige they need a fleet and an admiral, and the Pirate Queen and her Witcher lover fill that position *perfectly* 3/3
I’m just imagining the Crane coming to shore a good year and a half after Geralt became the Warlord, and he and Derya have been off in the southern seas somewhere, and one of his brothers is waiting for him with the news that oh hey, we’ve joined forces with Geralt of the Wolves and conquered Kaedwen. Y’know. As you do.
