AO MD F: Harri Heliovaara/Henry Patten [6] def. Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori [3] Match Stats
📸 AO official app
Apart from the partial servefest, the point construction between both pairs came down to their final shots. From there, Heliopatten was able to make adjustments, adding more pace while slightly extending some points as the moment steadily shifted in their favor. The second set could have gone either way, but still engaging in this match was also the key as evident from their balance, scoring 48 shot winners to the Italian's 39 despite committing 5 unforced errors. As a result, they generated 11 break points even if the third seeds converted 20% of their break opportunities.
Interestingly, while their serve speed was not as fast as the Italians, the sixth seed made it very effective. Despite only making 64% of their first serves, Heliopatten won 78% of their first serve points, 6% more than the third seeds, which helped them hung in there before finally making their moves. However, the third seeds' vulnerable second serves became more evident as they only won 63% of their second serve points, 5% lesser than the sixth seeds, which only hampered their chances as they got pressed along the way.
This marked Heliopatten's second Grand Slam title together as a pair after the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, putting both of them to the Top 5 of the doubles rankings for the first time. To add, H. Patten also became the fourth British player to win more than one Grand Slam men's doubles title while H. Heliovaara is the first Finn to pull such feat, while the former is also the fifth British player to win the Australian Open Men's Doubles title in the last century. Note that this is also H. Patten's ninth Grand Slam main draw singles appearance, and he became one of the fastest to win two Grand Slam titles by appearance. And it is just the beginning of many more together this season, hopefully!

Horror Movie Review: Soylent Green (1973)
A nightmarish futuristic fantasy about the controlling power of big corporations and an innocent cop who stumbles on the truth.
Soylent Green is a 1973 American ecological dystopian film directed by Richard Fleischer, and starring Charlton Heston, Leigh Taylor-Young, and Edward G. Robinson in his final film role. By 2022, the cumulative effects of overpopulation and pollution have caused severe worldwide shortages of food, water, and housing. New York City has a population of 40 million, and only the elite can afford…

CLOSED! Preliminary Hot Vintage TV Men List
Alright folks! We have one week left on submissions for the Hot Vintage TV Men's Bracket! As promised here is a list of all the Hot Vintage TV Men who have been submitted and passed our preliminary eligibility checks. There are a handful of guys on this list and one or two not on it that we are currently still debating on so reminder that this list is not final and subject to change.
Currently we have 231 Hot Vintage TV Men!
Also in advance of the competition I'd like to remind anyone submitting propaganda for someone that starred in a show that aired only partially during our timeframe or was under 18 for a part of a shows filming, to please make sure you are only submitting propaganda that is from within our timeframe and when the actor was 18 years or older. This is also just good to keep in mind in general as several people submitted actors for shows that aren't eligible for our tournament either because it was outside our time period or in one case the actor was underaged for the entirety of the show (though many were eligible for other shows they were submitted for). We do our best to screen for these things but sometimes it's hard to tell or it’s a show we don't personally know well enough so we appreciate help from y'all letting us know if you do catch anything.

In 1967 the Daily Telegraph, no less, produced a special on ‘the New Culture of Beat City.’ The prince of it all, perhaps, was a roly-poly poet and painter named Adrian Henri. With his fellow poets Roger McGough and Brian Patten he was responsible for a Penguin paperback, The Mersey Sound, which became the best-selling poetry collection of all time. And, this being Liverpool, Roger McGough found time to be in a chart-topping pop group, the Scaffold, as well. Once again Liverpool was not a provincial outpost but a creative hub which attracted progressive thinkers from far and wide. Henri would play host to the American beat poet Allen Ginsberg - who was, in his heart, something of a Beatle groupie and was moved to declare, ‘Liverpool is at the present moment the centre of the consciousness of the human universe.’ One day, the obscure performance artist Yoko Ono materialised, as Spencer Leigh recalls: ‘I am very proud of the fact that I touched Yoko Ono before John Lennon did. She came here in 1966 to the Bluecoat Chambers and had a “happening”. I had never been to a happening before, but it sounded very exciting and mysterious and avant garde so I went along. She invited members of the audience to wrap her up in bandages, so that is why I touched her before John Lennon did. I was doing her feet very delicately while Adrian Henri was doing the top half. She was covered in all these bandages and I remember John Gorman of the Scaffold shouting out, “You’re wanted on the phone!” ‘You could really see the influence she would have on John Lennon’s work. She had the black bags on stage and she invited people to come up on stage and take their clothes off inside the bag. About eight people did. It was an entertaining evening which went on for about two hours. Part of it was just watching her eat a tuna hsh sandwich. At the end of the happening she put a vase on the table and her husband Tony Cox smashed it and invited people to come up and take a piece. So I did and Yoko Ono said, “I want us all to meet in ten years’ time and piece this together.” I’ve never met her since.’
(Liverpool - Wondrous Place by Paul Du Noyer, 2002)
Part (I), (II), (III), (IV), (V), (VI), (VII), (VIII), (IX), (X), (XI), (XII), (XIII), (XIV), (XV), (XVI), (XVII), (XVIII), (XIX), (XX), (XXI), (XXII)
Mike McCartney:…I knew Yoko before John, she came to Liverpool with her husband and some American bloke. Q: Oh, that’s interesting… Mike McCartney: Yes, she was in the Bluecoat [Chambers], we went to see her in the Bluecoat in Liverpool because we’d heard about this Japanese artist. Q: He was putting on an exhibition or something? Mike McCartney: She did these wonderful exhibitions. In fact, we got thrown out of one of them because we were satirists… Q: You weren’t taking it that seriously then? Mike McCartney: We didn’t… Yoko, I’m sorry, now! I don’t know whether you remember this, but she did this thing where she would get people on the stage – and thank god she didn’t ask us to get up – and she would wrap them in bandages. You know, what I mean? She’s taking it so seriously, and we’re scouting you know. Then, “any suggestions from the audience” and there’s these people wrapped up in bandages and John ‘Tiswas’ Gornman did a ‘mummy’ joke. And, we were thrown out – “you’re not taking this seriously”.
(Mike McCartney talks to SDE about the reissue of his 1974 album ‘McGear’, September 2019, interview with Paul Sinclair)

1905 Cadillac Osceola
Henry Leland is pictured here with his 1905 Cadillac “Osceola”, the first fully enclosed car built by Cadillac. He had explored the idea of a vehicle closed to the weather and enjoyed it so much it remained his personal runabout for years. It was named “Osceola” to honor a Florida Seminole chief he admired after reading the poem “The Seminole’s Defiance” by G.W. Patten.

📸 🎥 Eurosport LV
The third set almost became a one-way affair as Heliopatten became locked in as they built their moment from the second-set tie-breaker. A volley let cord moment from Vavalelli 4 points into the third set that went past H. Heliovaara's racquet started the proceedings before the fourth seeds held their serves to 1-0. They then continued with an exquisite volley to take the lead at the third point of the second game, but their cross-court forehand winner generated their break point, which was immediately converted thanks to H. Heliovaara's forehand return to break 2-0. Afterward, Heliopatten consolidated with a service game hold to 3-0.
In the next game, H. Heliovaara continued the sixth seeds' aggressive play as they scored a fourth-shot volley to start the game, scoring a forehand winner right after as they tried to double their break advantage. However, they were foiled with an unreturned serve before Vavalelli went on the board with a service game hold to 3-1. 2 points into the next game, there was a tricky return that ended in a failed volley, but H. Patten's working volley to H. Heliovaara's previous smash helped them generate their game point, holding their serves to 4-1 right after. A backhand drive volley winner from H. Patten allowed them to stay in control, where an unreturned serve confirmed the third seeds' service game hold to 5-2.
Since the third seeds held their serves to 5-3 right after, Heliopatten earned their chance to serve for the match. However, H. Patten got tightened up on serve, double-faulting 2 points into the ninth game before a working smash from Vavalelli created their break point (*5-3 15-40). However, both of them got saved, including from Heliopatten's preceding forehand to S. Bolelli's cross-court forehand error (which, had it not been fired too long, the Italians would have broken at that point), before an unreturned serve generated the sixth seeds' match point. Without any further hesitation, H. Patten fired the championship-sealing ace, taking the third set 6-3 to win their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
