Alone. Silent. Darkness. Tranquil.
That was how he preferred it. Lothor was a barbarian sure, expected to be a brute who was a berserker and a warrior. A reaver who enjoyed bloodshed. Tonight he was none, but a thief and a rogue.
Lothor snuck before and he was paid handsomely to steal a treasure for someone who had coin for him. The barbarian accepted and went in a home and took a pricey gem and was on his way to get his pay until he was presented in front of some guards. Lothor had no patience, he swung his broadsword and cleaved a head, the other guard drew his weapon. Lothor's night begun. And he was sober.

O P E N S T A R T E R
The sea softly dowsed the shoreline. The sound a gentle and pleasant hum to Anna’s ears. A stark contrast to the wild waves that once carried her here to Hedeby, a foreign land with foreign tongues. It had been over a year since she was brought over by the Vikings. Torn from her home, her family, her status and all that she knew. In between her new duties, she’d kept an open ear, noting their words, traits and traditions. Even as a mere servant, communication was essential. Over time she’d picked up a few words, and though she was far from fluent it was enough to get by.
Her fingertips absentmindedly drifted to the carved bone pendant hanging loosely from her neck, carved by her own hands. She yearned for her homeland. It pained her to think she’d never see the lush green hills of Wales ever again, but it was a future she had to accept. She hummed softly, an old Welsh lullaby that drifted into her thoughts as she reminisced of home.

hello! can we get an opinion? we're a new world-building viking era roleplay!
hi there! you absolutely can! i have not done one of these in ages, so forgive me about that! i’ll begin with the aesthetic. the theme? amazing. the color scheme? amazing. the graphics? amazing. everything is very easy to navigate and i absolutely love this! it all fits with the plot as well! speaking of the plot... hi i’m in love! i don’t know much about vikings, but you seem to capture the key elements! from a historical point of view, this proves you have put a lot of research anbd attention on being as truthful as a rp can be! this element also applies to the description and the characters! you added just enough infos to get a great picture of the characters while also keeping some level of freedom for the applicants. i also love the distinct aesthetic photos in the character graphics, it really helps understanding the characters better! as for your rules, they are absolutely perfect! your view on activity checks is something i have never seen before and i can only stan! your respect for ooc and for unexpected drops of activity is something i admire. also, i love the fact you do interest check more than activity checks. everything is clear and precise. finally, the application! i must admit i was expecting semi appless at the very least, but i was pleasantly surprised! it goes straight to the point and there’s still a bit of research to do to match the lore, so it’s great as it is!
to conclude... 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!!!!!!! to be honest with you, i was sold as soon as i saw you were inspired from assassin’s creed valhalla. i’m a big fan of ac and i’m so thrilled about the new game! i’m not the biggest fan of the vikings era (since most of what i learned was just the stereotypes and yikessss!), but i love your plot! and i love this place! and i really had to stop myself from applying because i have nothing negative to say!
if you’re searching for the sweetest and most considerate admin and for a place to explore the viking era, @helvegenhq is made for you!

Interest check? I was thinking about just revamping this old rp I had. Anyone interested in a Vikings roleplay set in the early years of 800 AD with a hint of some Norse myth vibes?
i’m just going to throw this into the tags and let the people gauge what they want!

hello! can we get an opinion? we're a new world-building viking era roleplay!
@helvegenhq Hello! Sure—I’ve never given opinions on roleplays but there’s a first for everything, I suppose. I’ve put everything under the cut but overall, based on my personal opinions and preferences for roleplay groups, I’d say your roleplay gets a 7.5/10 from me. If my access to my laptop wasn’t so limited, I would probably be considering filling out an app myself.
First Impressions. Obviously, the first thing I saw was your theme before anything else, and I actually really like it. It’s not too busy, which is good, but I did have to turn my brightness all the way up to see some of the posts. I’m not sure if it’s the text size or if the color you chose for the text is a bit too dark against the post background (especially the links, I had a bit of trouble reading them). Other than that, though, I really do think you have a nice theme and I love the sort of aesthetic you’ve got going on.
Plot. I appreciate that it’s not too long but still has enough detail to keep me interested. Another thing I liked was that you split it up into two sections—casting the gods down to earth, followed by the conflict they find themselves in the middle of with humans.
Lore. Again, good on you for keeping it concise and to-the-point. I think a page providing information on lore is supposed to be clear, not overly detailed with metaphors and flowery writing that can be put elsewhere (biographies, plot drops, etc) so players can understand the history better.
Rules. Very interesting concept. The idea of roll call seems to be pretty decent. As I’ve never seen this rule before and haven’t seen it in motion, I can’t say my opinion on whether or not its effective. What I will comment on, though, is the structure of the rule itself. I like the idea of giving a bit more leeway with activity considering we all have lives and especially in 18+ roleplays where members have long jobs, families, and generally more commitments, it’s nice to see someone finally taking notice of that. But since you mentioned role-hogging, maybe implement some kind of three-strike rule as well? For example, if someone continues to claim interest in their role but doesn’t post often enough between roll calls, that could be where the three-strike rule comes in. All I can say is that the rest of your guidelines are pretty much the regular, nothing too strict (which is definitely a plus), and you seem understanding enough of the lives members lead outside of roleplaying.
Characters. There isn’t much to say since it’s an OC roleplay, but I do like that you gave descriptions for the gods and what they were like in original mythology. It gives people a good place to start if they’re planning on applying for one of the gods. I’m personally more of a skeleton or bio roleplay type of person but you’ve sort of combined the idea of skeleton plus OC by giving general ideas for the gods and letting future members come up with completely new characters of their own, which we all love to see.
App. Again, I prefer an app to submit with details on my muse, especially when these are all largely original characters, but that’s just my preference. I do like the list of occupations you’ve provided, though, since there are actually quite a few to choose from.
Overall Thoughts. We’ve all seen the concept of mythological gods who have been cast down to earth...but that doesn’t mean we should be tired of it. I don’t know if it’s just because I haven’t been in the tags for ages, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen one of these plots and I find it refreshing to see a roleplay that takes this plot and uses something other than Greek mythology. I think it’s entirely possible to run a successful roleplay with a concept people have seen before if everything you add to it afterwards is original, fresh, something that you haven’t really seen around before. As this roleplay seems to be just starting up again after a revamp, there’s nothing to say about that, but I would keep that in mind for when your group hopefully grows and flourishes. I see no reason why it shouldn’t. Your pages are all clean, organized, and clearly explained and from the way you interact with questions coming in to your main, you sound very helpful and very excited to see your idea come to life.
The one thing I’d suggest is perhaps proofreading some of the pages you have. I noticed a few grammatical and spelling errors which, obviously, happens to everyone, but check them out.
I wish you good luck on this group—you’ve done a fine job!

I think the idea is super cute and with the tv show still being popular you would definitely get attention! You just need to promo correctly and think about whether you’re gonna be appless/bio/skeleton!

Lothor was beyond ready. He had a target, he had the silver, he had the men and women. He needed a boat. The Bear of a man made his way towards the docks, approaching the first person he saw. Luckily the first person he saw was a hard working woman. Much appreciated, his clan was made up of women who were warriors and workers.
"Excuse me, I don't mean to bother you. I need a boat and payment is easily negotiable. Hope your day is well."
