She didn't understand why she felt this way.
She took one look at her boyfriend, and suddenly, she had all this energy bouncing around in her body. It wasn't like he was doing anything special, he had just come back inside from smoking and was now sitting at his desk playing some random game.
But for some reason, he just looked adorable.
His eyes were low and hazy, whatever strain of weed he smoked making him relaxed. He had on one of his larger sweaters and a pair of sweatpants, the clothes making him look so cozy and warm. He was manspreading as well, leaning back in his chair and mumbling under his breath.
She just couldn't take it anymore.
She hops off the bed with ease, her feet making a soft thump on the hardwood floors before she makes her way over to Chris. His eyes dart to her figure, her face being illuminated by the two monitors on his desk.
"Hey bab-" he's immediately cut off by the girl climbing onto his lap, a soft smile on his face as she nuzzles her head into his neck. He chuckles silently, kissing the top of her head.
"Few more minutes Bun, then I'm all yours."
She hums softly and cuddles up to him even more, attempting to calm herself down, however, it doesn't work. That energy still bursting in her body is at an all-time high, and it's all because he looks cute.
She couldn't handle it anymore.
She starts to pepper small kisses along his neck, nothing sexual, just showing her ever-growing affection towards him. As the seconds go by and her energy increases, the small and soft kisses become more aggressive.
She moves the kisses to his jaw, the smooching noises becoming more obnoxious, but somehow, Chris doesn't notice.
She uses this as an opportunity.
She goes back to kissing along his neck, trailing the kisses to his shoulder before sinking her teeth into his skin.
The action finally catches Chis's attention, his body jerking and head whipping towards her. She looks at him innocently, as if she didn't just bite him.
"Kid, what the hell are you doing?"
"Nothing..."
He can't help the smile of disbelief making its way across his face. "Nothing? You just took a bite out of my shoulder like a damn shark." She giggles and attacks his face with more kisses, cupping his cheeks and squishing them together.
"You're just so cute, and I can't help it! I look at you, and I just wanna-" She lets out a noise that sounds like a squeal and a growl. Chris scrunches his face up and tries to push her away, but it's no use - she's stronger than a toddler who has something they aren't supposed to have.
He eventually gives up, letting her continue the assault on his face. All he can do is sit there and take the love and affection his favorite girl gives him.
She stops her kisses and smushes her face against his, their forehead and noses touching.
"You look like that damn Spongebob meme you sent me," he mumbles, his hands finding their way to her hips. She ignores him and basically stares at him with heart eyes.
"You're so handsome, so cute, I could just eat you up!"
"I'm not cute kid- OW!"
He moves his face away as she bites at his nose, his headphones falling off in the process. He huffs and stands up, throwing her over his shoulder effortlessly. She squeals in shock and laughs as he throws her down on the bed. He crawls over her, keeping her pinned down to the bed.
"You’re cute but stop fuckin’ bitin' me kid!”
She smiles and wraps her body around him, pulling him closer and kissing all over his face once more.
"I just get so giddy and full of energy when I look at you, that I don't know how to get rid of it!"
Her explanation makes him smile, he knew exactly what feeling she was talking about - he often felt it himself.
He grabs her jaw, making her look at him. He can see the love in her eyes, it makes him feel warm inside.
"I love you," he expresses softly.
She smiles widely and plants a fat kiss on his lips, "I love you too...Can we get ice cream?"

hello can i request smth silly and funny: the lads boys reaction to the reader eating shit and falling down a small hill leslie knope style (you know that meme of her rolling down then giving an exhausted thumbs up after LMFAO)
BEEN LOVING READING UR WORKS BTW MWAH
A/n: of course, and this is funny af
LaDs Boys Reacting to You Eating Shit
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Caleb 🍎
You’re going for a walk with him in Linkon. It’s late autumn, and leaves are fluttering down from the trees as the wind blows, rustling bare tree branches.
Everything is fine; you’re watching where you’re walking, your looking up at Caleb, he’s holding your hand—
And then it happened. Your ankle rolls when you step on a particularly wide stick and you fall face first to the ground, arms hitting the dirt.
Definitely eating shit.
You’re kinda dazed for a moment, not fully processing what has happened, until you hear Caleb laughing.
“You alright there, Pipsqueak?” He’s cackling, bending over at the knees to catch his breath. You let out a grunt and give him a thumbs up, before he rushes over and helps pull you up.
“Atta girl, Pipsqueak.” Caleb coos, kissing your cheek. He scoops you up and carried you for the rest of your walk.
Sylus 🐦‍⬛
You’re at the park with Sylus. You’d seen a very cute bunny and had chased it halfway up a hill before stopping when it disappeared from view. You frown, turning around to Sylus at the bottom of the slope.
“It’s gone!” You frown, to which Sylus chuckles.
“Well, I suppose you should come back here then, Kitten.”
You go to do so, but threw steps in, you trip and roll down the damn hill. The ground isn’t muddy, more damp, per se. “Are you alright?” Sylus does his best not to laugh, but he can’t help it when you give a weak thumbs up, not bothering to move your head from the earthy dirt.
“Come on, Kitten. Let’s go get you fixed up.” Sylus helps you up, and placed a gentle kiss on the small mark on your forehead.
Zayne ❄️
Going for a walk with Zayne in the cool fall weather is great, until you take a tumble down a small hill.
The doctor does his best to stay calm, chasing you down the hill, finding you face down in the dirt. “Can you here me, love? Take deep breaths now, alright?” His voice is calm and steady, but you know him well enough to hear the slight tinge of nervousness in his voice. You give him a reassuring thumbs up.
Zayne uses his Evol to make two impromptu ice packs and holds them to your knees. “M’ all good.” You mumble.
Zayne will carry you home and pamper you for the rest of the day; after all, your health is one of his biggest priorities.
Rafayel 🐠
Your fishy is determined to hold your hand as you walk. His grip on your soft skin is tight, like a small child clinging to his mother. However, your stride is broken when you trip and go tumbling down the hill you’re walking on.
And Rafayel, unsurprisingly, went tumbling down with you, as he still refused to let go of your hand.
“WHY AREN’T YOU LETTING GO?!!” You yell as you roll down the hill.
“BECAUSE WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER!” He yells back.
You grumble when you finally stop at the bottom of the hill. “You good?” Rafayel whined.
“Mhm.” You gave him a thumbs up before crawling out of the dirt, and taking his hand, and walking back towards his home.
Xavier 👽
Funnily enough, Xavier is the one who tripped. It was nearly 6:00 in the evening, and the sun was setting. It was ever so clear how Xavier was getting sleepy, by the way he was holding onto your arm and nuzzling into your neck.
You glance back at him and kiss his cheek. Xavier makes a soft sound, and then all of a sudden, he’s falling—tripping down the hill you’re walking down, back to your shared apartment complex.
“Xavi baby—” you gasp, chasing after him; he didn’t even try to stop the fall, just letting gravity take him into the damp dirt.
He let out a soft mumble, giving you a sleepy thumbs up. You sigh, letting out a soft laugh.
“Come on, baby, let’s go home.”

Dad!Ren and his daughter Shayla (My OC fankid!!!)
FINALLY, after some hard work i represent to you.. My OC Shayla! Shayla is based on the official cutiesigh artwork with AU Dad!Ren. This post will have all the basic info about her so far + some headcanons about Ren's family life and his relationship with Shayla. So it's going to be a kinda? long post! I've put a lot of work and love into these arts. Enjoy :3
Redacted holding Shayla!! and their very different reactions
Tumblr media
They're just having a bit of a nap on the sofa after Shayla painted Ren's face... and Shayla is drooling on dad's soft chest😭 (kind of inspired?? by this post!)
Tumblr media
Her reference:
Tumblr media
BASIC INFO
Clarification: in my AU, where there is Shayla, Redacted doesn't pretend to be Ren, but acts naturally! But I use both names in the text
Shayla is a kind, naive, sincere, energetic and cheerful girl who is always looking for adventure. But often, due to her age, her trusting nature and her curiosity, she doesn't always understand the risks and ends up in various messes. The girl is very friendly to everyone she meets! She believes that the world is a kind and beautiful place! Some kids think that Shayla is strange and weird (at least because of her "weird" family), which is why she gets mocked, but she doesn't read social cues (she's kinda autistic coded).
Likes: creative activities (drawing, needlework, sewing (not very wearable yet), making different outfits, daddy's jewelry, laughing, getting up early, climbing trees.
Dislikes: being controlled and restricted, rudeness, social games (she doesn't understand them).
She is the only and most wanted child for Ren and Angel, they had her when they were 30-35 years old. They love her very much!! Thanks to Ren, the family is very wealthy! Redacted spoils her a lot, fulfills all her wishes (well, as much as possible, since it's all after Angel, of course). In Shayla's family, both parents work, but Ren does it from home like he used to. So while Angel is at work, Redacted spends most of his time with their daughter. He picks her up from school, takes her to classes, goes for walks with her + does the housework, cooks, etc (basically he's a stay-at-home dad, because I don't think he needs to spend half a day on hacking; a couple of three hours is enough). With the birth of Shayla, Ren has begun to keep an eye not only on Angel, but also on their daughter, though not as closely. Thanks to this, he manages to get the girl out of trouble in time, but he often arrives at the very last moment.
Shayla is very attached to her father, she thinks he is the coolest dad in the world!!! She loves spending time with him, as well as his dark style and tattoos! She is a daddy's girl :))
While Angel is undoubtedly still Ren's top priority, Redacted genuinely loves his daughter both as an affirmation/continuation of their love with Angel AND for who she is. Her cheerful nature often lifts his spirits. Now, he has another person in his life who helps him see the world through a different, less apathetic and indifferent lens. Ren sees how naive and kind his daughter is and protects her to keep that light in her. And when Shayla comes up with questionable ideas… He supports her! He even suggests something himself😭 BUT even he has limits. He will not do anything that might harm her.
(pretty much everything canon about how Sai describes Dad!Ren)
RANDOM FACTS AND HEADCANONS:
I named her after that meme OOHH MY SHAYLAAA😭 (I didn't have a name for her at first, so I just called her that in my mind for a while. It was actually quite funny to me… but eventually it started to grow on me, ngl, so I kept it)
You know those stories where a kid goes into their mom's makeup bag, purse, or closet and tries on something? In this case, mom is Ren💀 Shayla loves to find all kinds of alt stuff from Redacted, ask what it is, and then try it on herself! Redacted gave her some - a spiked bracelet and a silver chain!
Ren agrees to paint Shayla's nails. She wears all the colors of the rainbow, but she likes to keep all her nails black on one hand, though!
Thanks to the creative atmosphere in the family and Redacted's alternative style, Shayla will be a goth in the future! She's also going to become an alt-clothing designer.
She is wearing three of the five gold hairpins that Ren used to wear! When Redacted and Angel got married, he started wearing only two hairpins - a symbol of their relationship. Years later, when Shayla was born and grew up, the rest of the hairpins were inherited to her, and she wears them with great pride, just like the rest of her dad's jewelry.
Shayla also has her dad's features. She has pale, dry skin and black hair. However, her eyes are a unique combination of Ren's color (blue) + my Angel's (red) = creating a beautiful purple color for her.(I know that's not how gynetics works lmaoo I just think it's cute!!!)
aaaand also, @yzumimenu drew some amazing fanart of Shayla, LOOK AT HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND TY SO MUCH AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When was the last time you ever felt this scared?
Perhaps your first time facing a real Wanderer? That time you had a creep not taking no for an answer when you were alone in a nightclub? Or maybe that time where you were walking alone and came across a thief with a weapon?
But you had overcome them. The Wanderer died by your pistols, the creep getting punched in the face by your fists and thrown out by security, and the thief getting it’s weapon knocked out of it’s hand by you and arrested by the police moments later.
The adrenaline that had rushed through you pushed it all away within those moments, and it was only after you had reflected on the experience that almost had you buckle your knees and grab the nearest thing to keep you standing, your heart bounding and your thoughts and absolute mess. It had taken you a while to calm down and look back on those moments without fear, and instead of what you had accomplished.
Unlike right now.
“Still not talking?”
You hadn’t spoken a word to Caleb after he caught you ending the call with Sylus, begging him to come and save you from the man you once felt safe and secure with.
The tracker on your wrist reminds you of anything but those feelings and more.
Caleb sighs from his seated position in the kitchen and stands, the sound of his footsteps getting closer to you fills you with dread. He seats himself on the edge of the coffee table in front of you and you instantly move back so his feet don’t touch you, your eyes finding a spot on the floor to stare at.
He chuckles. “You won't even look at me, how mean of you.”
Retorts sit on your tongue that you hold still. Your already deep in trouble, you don’t want to know what will happen if you fall more.
By the corner of your eyes you see him angle his head to try and catch your eyes, but you look away quickly. What would you see in them? Pity? Annoyance? Anger? Even if it was soft, you wouldn’t fall for it, your not that naive anymore.
You gasp as he grabs your chin and forces you to look at him, his told had a certain tightness to it that could choke you in seconds - you wouldn’t put it past him to do it, though it still scares you to know that.
“There we go.” He smiles, and everything about it screams it’s not the one from the past, the warm one you remember. “Now all that's left is for you to talk, but since you won’t do that, I guess I have to play a little guessing game.”
It doesn’t matter, you think. He can guess all he likes and you won’t answer him. Let’s see how he likes to be the one ignored now.
“Now who would you be calling at this hour when everyone is asleep, like you should have been.” There’s a mocking tone in his voice that makes you want to punch him. It should have made you worried about doing such a thing to someone you saw as a friend, but all you saw in front of you was a creature that enjoyed your torture.
“It can’t be your dear Dr. Zayne, he’s too busy and has things far too important then calling you.”
It hurt you a little to hear Caleb talking about Zayne like that, the three of you had a good friendship growing up, it had amused you of the little arguments they would get into. You knew that no matter what happened you would always have them to fall back on and pick you back up. Zayne had greatly helped you ever since you thought Caleb had died, and the thought of the three of you being back together made your heart warm when you found Caleb again.
How unfortunate that wouldn’t happen.
“Someone the Hunters Association? Hmmm possibly. But who exactly?” Caleb tapped his chin with his other hand, your chin still firmly held by his other that it was starting to ache. “No one there can come in here and sneak you out without anyone onboard knowing, even if a team banded together. So let’s rule that out.”
He clearly underestimated your Association. You might not know everyone there, but the only reason those people have been made Hunters is because they have the power to do so, they’ve all been through the hard training it takes and passed. You remember all the training you had to do and your sure Caleb does too, as you had called him after sessions, complaining about it all and the aches and bruises on your body.
“You keep complaining about it but I never hear you say that you’re gonna leave.”
“Of course I'm not! Quitting would mean that I’m not cut out to be a Hunte. You’ve said I am so many times, do you not think it anymore?”
“Not at all. I believe in you more than anyone that you’ll pass, and become the world's greatest Hunter.”
“Ok, not that much Caleb.”
He laughed then, full of warmth and joy. “Just keep going Pip-squeak, and before you know it, you’ve passed and got your license. Just don’t forget about me when you're off saving everyone from Wanderers, ok?”
Does he still believe in you now? Do you even want to know? You’re still surprised he hasn’t told you to leave them and just stay with him.
“I guess that only leaves one other place.” He muses, and you feel like he’s close to the answer.
Just don’t react. Don’t let him know.
“But would you really call someone from there? And who? There’s not many good people in the N109 Zone.”
Your face remains neutral as Caleb scans it for any signs and frowns when there isn’t any. You hide your pride at this, though it probably thanks to him that your learning to mask your emotions well.
“Actually, scratch that, there’s no good people in that place. Illegal dealings and filled with violence and crime, there no better than Wanderers. Infact, I bet they’re worse than Wanderers. At least those creatures were someone innocent before turning, people in the N109 Zone have been black-hearted since the start. Like true monsters.”
You swing your cuffed wrists to smack him but they’re quickly caught in his free hand, a smirk now dancing on his lips.
“Oh, it seems like I hit a spot. So your trip to the N109 Zone did have you in contact with someone there.” He pulls you forward by your wrists, noses just barely touching. His voice was laced with demand. “Who?”
A grunt falls from your lips as you try and pull your wrists back, but Caleb’s hold on them is strong.
It tightens.
“Who?”
You stop and look at him, his eyes so dim you wonder if they’ve truly turned black. You can see anything in them other than dark feelings that create goosebumps on your skin.
You swallow, a bit of courage coming to your throat. “I guess that’s round two of your guessing game.”
A thick silence hangs in the air and your ears pick up noises you don’t remember registering. The ticking of the clock on the wall, the sound of cars driving outside and the pitter patter of rain softly hitting the windows. Mixed with Caleb before you, it was starting to become stimulating, and you pray that Sylus will be here soon.
Caleb’s frown deepens. “Why do you want to go to him, hmm? Skyhaven is much more safer and secure then the N109 Zone.”
“I have never feared more for my life than staying here.” You reply. To hell with staying silent, that’s what you’ve done more than anything since you’ve been here. You let Caleb have his way, let him ramble on and on and speak badly about a place - about a man you wanted to go back to more than anything.
You’re done with it.
“What can he possibly give you that I can’t?” He’s not glaring but close, he’s looking at you as if he just can’t phantom the idea of you wanting to leave. “How can you want to go to him when I’m right here?”
“Because he would never treat me this way!” You scream, and the look of shock on his face makes you keep going. “He’s never locked me in and he lets me have my freedom with no complaints or bargains. He never punishes me and never makes me feel afraid of him. He’s someone who treats me like I’m someone, not a possession. He's someone I can trust and go to without fear.” Your breathing heavily, the words keep coming out and your not stopping them, too fed up with the man infront of you. “He’s the opposite of you Caleb, and as soon as he comes here I’m going with him, and you can’t stop me.”
You didn’t realise you had stood up until you saw Caleb’s eye move to look up at you, for once you had gotten power over him, had made him look at you and made him speechless.
Adrenaline runs through your body and you know you can’t let it go, no matter what happens next.
So when the look of shock vanishes over Caleb’s face and is replaced with a glare, you lock in and quickly pull your still bound wrists free from his hold, keeping them close to your chest. When he stands you step away instantly, creating space between the two of you.
“And what makes you think I’ll let you leave?” His voice drips with venom. It’s a tone you’ve never heard before and almost falters you.
“Because she’s her own person.” a voice breaks out, one that’s so familiar that it makes your heart race. “Because she has the right to her own freedom.”
Both of you turn to the door that’s now locked behind a tall and imposing figure, his white hair gleaming in the ceiling lights.
“Because she wants to.”
He steps forward and the light shines on his face, that handsome face of your saviour. “Oh, and because I’m here to help her, isn’t that right, sweetie?” His gleaming red eyes fall on you, and you smile, hope filling you.
“Sylus…”
Caleb sucks through his teeth, irritation clear all over his face. “How did you get in unnoticed? Every member had been alerted that you would be coming.”
Sylus shrugs nonchalantly, confidence oozing off him. “And despite that I didn’t get much of a welcome party. Your fleet needs more training.”
The comment only makes Caleb’s irritation grow, and it brings some satisfaction to you. “Now if you don’t mind, I’m taking Miss Hunter home.”
Home. The word makes your heart swell.
“She’s not going anywhere, especially not with you.” Caleb straightens and you feel his Evol approaching, it causes goosebumps on your skin once again and you instantly look at Sylus, who just looks bored.
“Seems like you need hearing lessons as well.” His own Evol floating around his fists, ready to release.
You knew there was going to be a fight once Sylus showed up, he would avoid it if he could if that’s what you wanted, but Caleb wouldn’t let you go without a fight. Even if Caleb hadn’t caught you and you managed to sneak past him with Sylus, he would only come and get you himself and cause a ruckus wherever you went to get you back. He would see it as you being kidnapped and brainwashed to turn against him.
Caleb needs to know that you want to leave on your own free will, and not just with words. The fact that you called for help should have already planted that seed somewhere in his head.
“Stop it Caleb. Let me go.”
He turns to you, a flicker of disbelief in his eyes. “What?”
You stand straight, your voice calm as you speak. “I want to leave, right here, right now. So let me go.”
He stares at you, teeth gritted and brows furrowed, but his eyes are scanning you, hoping to find something he can use to make you stay, to blind himself that this isn’t your free choice of will. But he can’t find any, and his irritation and confusion grows. “Why? Why do you want to leave me? I thought after everything we’ve been through, you’d want to stay with me forever.”
And you had wanted that too.
“I had never felt such relief when I found Caleb alive.” You tell him with a soft voice, the painful memories all coming back. “I spent night’s crying because I thought you were dead, days went past in a blur and I was always reminded to eat even the smallest thing because my mind wouldn’t register the simplest things that my body needed. All I could think about was you.”
Tears brimmed at the corner of your eyes but you didn’t care to wipe them away, with showing Caleb your true emotions, you hope that he’ll finally understand. “Time passed and it got a little easier, but I still thought about you. I didn’t even think I would meet you here…and yet I did. I was so happy Caleb, I thought things would go back the way they were before. Always laughing and joking around, having you by my side to comfort me and give me strength…but you’ve done the exact opposite.”
Confidence flows through your veins as you take a step towards him, his figure still but has lost it’s tension. Your getting through to him. “The things I said before, about me being afraid of you, it’s all true. You keep me locked up and take away my things. You don’t let me have my freedom and even tell me when to go to sleep like I’m a child. It honestly scares me that you can’t see that your hurting me, hurting me so much that I want to escape from you.”
“I didn’t…” His aura falters, the dark and imposing man has been replaced with disbelief and confusion. “I never want you to be afraid of me, I didn’t do all those things to scare you. I want to protect you.”
“Was giving me medicine with the intention of me falling asleep protecting me?” You spat back, the memory of it still causing a shiver of unease down your spine. “I’m a Hunter Caleb, I don’t need this kind of protection. You said that you believed in me when I was doing my exams, but it looks like I’m weak to you.”
“You’re not! That’s…That’s not what I think!”
“I don’t care what you think anymore Caleb, except for the fact that I want to leave SkyHaven and I want to leave you of my own free will. That’s my choice Caleb.”
A noise leaves Caleb’s lips, something frustrated and perhaps sad. You don’t fully understand it but right now you don’t care. You take another step towards him, close enough to touch his chest if you reach out.
You show him your bound wrists. “Take these off…please.”
He looks down at them, thousands of emotions dance through his eyes that you can’t decipher, but he waves a hand over them and you hear a click before the cuffs fall on the floor.
“Thank you Caleb…and I’m sorry.”
Before he can even respond you punch him square in the face, his body falling to the ground instantly, knocked out.
Whoops.
The slow clapping of hands erases the tense atmosphere from the room.
“An excellent performance, kitten.” Sylus smirks as he walks over. “You had him in your grasp and took matters into your own hands, just like I knew you could.”
There was something about his praise that brightens you, maybe it’s because you know he’s saying it sincerely that has your stomach filled with butterflies. You fight back the smile that threatens your lips. “I didn’t mean to knock him out..”
He chuckles. “Whatever you say, sweetie. You still wanted to punch him, not that I blame you.” His eyes scan over the unconscious body of your ex best friend, frowning at the sight. “I wanted to get some in.”
“You would have killed him then.” You commented, and despite everything Caleb has put you through, you didn’t want him dead - for real this time. “I don’t think the fleet would be too happy about that.”
“I don’t mind making a few more enemies, especially the ones that hurt you.”
Air catches in your throat as Sylus turns back at you, his eyes looking at you softly. “Are you alright?”
Maybe it was because it was said so gently, full of comfort and genuineness, laced with true worry. that has you tearing up once more. “I want to go home Sylus.”
He gathers you in his arms, holding you close to his chest that you feel his warmth that engulfs you, bringing a sense of calm to your body. “It’s ok. I’m here, and I’m taking you home.” He lifts you in his arms that you don’t protest, you don’t ever want to leave his safe arms ever again. “Luke and Kieran have cleaned your apartment ready for you to come back.”
“No Sylus,” You croak against his neck, tears slowly falling down your cheeks. Apart from Skyhaven your apartment is the last place you want to be right now, there’s no sense of security that will calm you if you return back there.
There’s only one place you want to be.
That mansion that started out cold that is now warm with your touches; the plushies on the sofa and the blankets on the bed. The fairy lights in his study and the colourful mugs in his kitchen, your skincare and make-up products sitting neatly in his bathroom cabinet and the photobooth pictures hanging by the vanity he had bought you.
“Take us home.”
He looks at you then, surprise written across his face that it almost makes you giggle. You never really called it home to his face, even with your things scattered across the building.
Sylus smiles, it’s not the one his enemies see or the ones the twins get when they’ve pulled a prank. It’s a smile only reserved for you, and it shines brighter than any star you have ever seen.
“Alright, sweetie. Let’s go home.”

bucktommy kiss meme #29 💚
#29 - as a promise (includes 8x16 spoilers)
The plane is high in the clear sky now, sun shining over the white metal. Bobby's casket is safely in the hold while the Grants sit in their comfortable seats. Everyone leaves one by one. Buck receives a kiss on the cheek from his sister, insistent and full of a meaning he doesn't want to think too hard on. A pat on the shoulder from Eddie as he tells him he'll catch a ride with Ravi back to his place. Nods, soft touches, maybe some worry, mostly exhaustion, as everyone leaves.
His body deflates when they are all gone, the wall behind him supporting all his weight.
Minnesota.
Bobby is going to be buried in Minnesota with his family.
It was really happening.
There was a heaviness in his chest, in his feet, his knees felt fragile.
"Evan?"
He's been doing so well.
He's been keeping it in. He's been helping Chimney, Maddie, Eddie. He's been trying to be okay. He's been managing it. He couldn't break apart, not now, not when they needed him. He said so.
But it's that soft voice, always soft when he said his name. It's a comforting, not intrusive touch on his elbow. It's concern, care.
He's been doing so well.
A sob rattles his chest and he finds himself in the arms of his ex-boyfriend, face hiding in his neck. His hands surely wrinkling the back of Tommy's coat with the way he's clutching it. One of Tommy's hands settles at the back of Buck's head, his fingers tangling in his hair and the other at his back, a warm, steady touch that makes him feel safe, held.
Tommy doesn't tell him that it'll be okay, doesn't try to shush his cries, he just holds him. Holds him in his comforting arms and lets him cry, lets him feel.
Buck doesn't know how long it's passed until he takes a deep shuddering breath, tears drying in his cheeks, against Tommy's coat. All he knows is the way Tommy's hand moves up and down his back, the way his fingers scratch his scalp.
He feels a soft, barely there kiss placed at his temple, right at the edge of his birthmark and he tightens his arms around Tommy.
"Thank you."
His voice comes out as a whisper almost.
Tommy's thumb caresses his ear, his hand moving to the side of his face in a soft touch. It makes Buck lean his head away, further enough along Tommy's shoulder to look up at him. To see his wet eyes, the redness of them, the grief in his face.
Buck's hands travel farther up on Tommy's back, hoping to be just as comforting as the other man can be.
"You lost him too, I'm sorry."
Tommy's lips tick up in a soft smile, disbelieving but so soft, and he nods. "You're going to be okay, Evan."
He can't help the tension in his muscles at that. Tommy notices, of course he does.
"That's, uh, that's what he told me before-" Buck clears his throat. "That I was gonna be okay and that the others are gonna need me." He sighs, looking down at the fabric of Tommy's coat. "I tried, I-I failed."
"Evan," His thumb catches on his chin, tilting his head back up, making eye contact. "I don't think he meant that you had to close yourself off to everyone," Buck frowns and Tommy runs his fingers along the wrinkles in his forehead, almost succeeding in smoothing them all. "You are going to be okay. Bobby knew how much you grew, how strong you are. But you have to take your time and grieve him," Tommy smiles, that small but so full smile of his. "You are not alone. You have people to lean on. That's how he knew you're going to be okay."
Buck feels fresh tears forming in his eyes, running down his cheek. Tommy lets his words linger in the silence between them, his thumb occasionally catching the tears halfway down.
"I'm gonna be okay."
Tommy nods, he smiles, that proud smile of his and Buck feels his chest fill with how much he missed Tommy's smiles, how much he missed him. Buck brings a hand up to the other man's face, his thumb catching the corner of Tommy's lips, feeling his smile.
"You are."
"And you're going to be one of the people I can lean on?"
He sees the flicker of fear in Tommy's eyes, the hope. Watches as Tommy takes a deep breath, steadies himself.
"For as long as you need me."
It's not the time. Not yet. But it's as close to something as they've been. Buck's heart pounds against his chest, feels Tommy's beat fast from where his hand settles on his chest.
"And if that's for a long time?"
"For as long as you need me." Tommy repeats.
"Promise?"
Tommy's eyes glance between his lips, his eyes, trying to decypher everything that goes on in Buck's brain. He always believed he could, always believed that Tommy had this special power to see into what Buck needed, wanted.
His lips touch Buck's, soft, chaste, but so much more than that.
Buck still believes.
"Promise."

The Shadows That Nurture 20
This one is a bit shorter than the last 🫠
Masterlist || First || previous<< Chapter 20 >>next
The interaction between you and Nolan was still awkward. It was weird to see him this soft and you still felt on edge like you couldn’t quite believe all it took for him to try and do better was some talking to- Bruce didn’t even let you say more than a sentence in his presence, let alone get emotional about things and try to have a conversation about it.
Overall, the past week you’ve been kind of disassociating while working on rebuilding, occupying your time with that and helping Andressa take care of the baby, occasionally texting Debbie anything from updates to “I miss you”, to “I miss your food”, to cute pictures of the little menace being funny, kept you somewhat present-minded.
Your eyes drifted to Andressa, who has been aging more and more. Her movements were slowing down, she was getting more tired, and she was having more problems with her joints. You noticed that with everyone. The kids who helped you sometimes were now teens, the babies were slowly becoming toddlers, and yet your little brother was still in the baby range.
Andressa calling your name brought you back to reality. Your eyes meet as she sighs, sitting on an armchair while you keep playing with her baby’s hair, twirling it into spikes and horns. “I… I need to ask a big favor out of you and your family.” She starts softly, her finger tapping nervously. You stop and give her all the attention as she continues speaking.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Debbie’s day has been… better. It’s all getting better. Slowly, but she’s getting there. She wanted to be petty and give Nolan’s things away, but she had a feeling he’d be coming back with you and Mark, so she did the next best thing and moved his stuff into the smallest bedroom. Well, it was more of an office with a beat-up couch; he didn’t deserve an actual bedroom.
And in hindsight, she was glad she did. “Well… he is cute.” She concedes while smiling softly as the toddler cooed up at her, all coddled up in her lap. Her hand gently ran across his small back. Andressa just smiles. “Thank you. And thank you for wanting to hear me out and for letting me into your home. I know I’m asking for a lot, for way too much even considering everything- but Nolan isn’t exactly the best at being present enough for a kid.”
Debbie laughed at that. “Yeah, I know. Can’t count the times I had to step in for things he promised Mark.” You smiled softly as the two women got along, laughing at Nolan’s actions and awkwardness towards raising the babies. “Well, I’ll leave you two to it. I’ve gotta go back and make sure the men don’t find us plotting against them.” You joked while opening a portal.
“Bye, sweetheart, make sure your brother eats lunch! Oh, was Nolan scared of holding him? Because he was terrified of holding Mark as a baby- you should have seen him- I think I have some photos-“ You snickered, finally leaving the two to their gossiping.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Mark and Nolan were too busy helping rebuild buildings to notice you and Andressa being missing. Granted, some men are the biggest gossipers known to mankind. “Yeah, so your dear daughter took a plate of these mini cakes and just smashed it across Bruce’s face- mushing it around. Lex was having a field day. It was so weird to see him so genuinely happy.”
“Is there video footage of it? I would love to see that.” Nolan laughs along. “Dude, there’s so much footage- Lex has like fifteen to thirty cameras in a room, he made compilations of it!” Mark looks at the smiling man. “He even had a camera in the buttons of his suit. He gave that first-row view of the cake smash to the highest bidder.”
“And he still shares the memes on his social media.” Your voice cut through their laughter, making the young man snort. “No! He still does? Is he set on never making Bruce forget that?” Nolan looks at his cackling son. “Would you let the man forget that?” His smirk only gets wider as his son beams with a no.
Nolan gently nudged you away as he told Mark to take a break. “We need to talk.” You pouted at his words while landing on a rooftop. “We talked.” Your grumble was met with a raised eyebrow. “No. We fought, and then you interrogated me about the Justice League.” He chides. “We need to have a serious talk.”
The old Viltrumite could see the nervousness and doubt in you. So, he wanted to make sure you knew where you stood. “I know my actions hurt you in ways I don’t think will be fully salvageable. I won’t try to justify myself, I won’t try to tell you that you’re wrong for feeling any negative sentiments towards me. You have every right to because you are correct in your points. I was a coward, I should have gone to the guardians and faced their ire. I should have trusted that you and Mark had my back.”
“No matter what, if you hate me, if you don’t want to see me again, you’ll always be my daughter, my baby.” The hand he put on your shoulder was warm and slightly shaky, betraying how nervous he actually felt. “I’ll always be in your corner, no matter what, no matter how hard you try to push me away. I’ll make sure to repent for my mistakes towards you, Mark, and Debbie for the rest of my life.”
“Stop it.” You sniff. “You’ll make me cry again. And damn right you’ll repent for what you did. I’ll make sure of it.” He smiles as you gently slap his arm. “I’ll hold you to it.” His eyebrows furrowed, asking if you had seen Andressa since she hadn’t come to check up on them in a while. “She’s taking a nap. Don’t disturb your baby mama, ass.” You roll your eyes while lifting off the ground, flying away as the man pouts.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Harvey Dent raised an eyebrow at the message he received, a shit-eating grin overtaking his mug. “Looks like our little magic girl is coming back to the planet in a few days. With a few stowaways.” Two-Face shows the message to Jason. “How mad do you think Bruce will be?”
Jason just gives the man an evil smile. “Very.” The young man almost purrs as he begins giggling, laughing as if he was snorting Joker Gas. Roy Harper just looks at the scene with a shaky smile. “Ok… I think I need someone to spill some tea about what’s happening.” Harvey just scoffs. “Take a seat if you really want to know. It’s a long story.”
Roy just shrugs, pulling the chair out and dropping into it. "I think you're just exaggerating there, law man." That seems to only make Jason laugh harder, creating doubt into the young father. "Oh- you'll regret saying that by the time we're done." Our favorite crime lord counters, snickering as he pours his friend a glass of whiskey.

To the world, he's an idol.
But to you, he's much more. He's your best friend, someone who knows you deeply and stands by you. He became an idol while you were still in college.
Actually, you love him.
As his fame grew through the years, you continued your studies, focusing on your master's degree to become a vet. It's sweet how he tells you that if his cats ever get sick, he can come to you for help and doesn't need to find another vet.
You love the idea, so you promise him that.
When Minho invited you to the dorm to watch movies, hang out, or chat, you were always greeted by the sound of yelling, people running around, or occasionally the smell of burnt food. You laughed it off, knowing they were like a family. Despite the chaos, Chan kept apologizing to you profusely. While Chan kept bowing and apologizing to you, you watched Minho—well, yeah, he was busy stuffing tissues into Hyunjin's mouth.
Your eyes widened, and you excused yourself from Chan. He followed your gaze and soon facepalmed.
"Minho! Stop that, idiot. You're hurting him!" You scolded, grabbing his arm to make him stop. He gave you a disgusted look, as if to say, "Why are you on Hyunjin's side, not mine?"
"Well, tell him to shut up! He hurt my eardrums!" Minho retorted, yanking his arm away from your grip. Hyunjin, finally free, gasped for air and glared at Minho.
"God, Y/n. How could you stand him?" Hyunjin asked, throwing an arm over his eyes as if exhausted by the ordeal. You laughed softly, glancing at Minho who was still grumbling.
"It wasn't always easy, but I guess I'd gotten used to his antics. Besides, someone had to keep an eye on him."
Minho shot you a mock glare. "Oh, so now you're against me too?"
"Of course not." You replied with a grin. "But sometimes you did make it hard. Maybe I just had a soft spot for difficult people." Minho rolled his eyes at your statement and went back to setting up the movie.
Minho wasn't much of a talker; he preferred to listen more. There were times he did speak, but not often. Still, you were grateful that he wanted to share his days with you. On the other hand, you loved talking, especially with him, and joking around was always fun. However, he hated it when you teamed up with Kim Seungmin.
He remembered a time when you were playing a game with Seungmin. Minho messaged you, urgently asking where you were because he needed your help to find Dori's toy. Seungmin took your phone and replied with a dog meme flipping the middle finger. He hated how powerful you'd become with Seungmin.
You eventually made friends with all of them, and most of them were a lot of fun to hang out with.
One thing they didn't know was your feelings for him. Yes, some of them might have asked about it, but Minho brushed it off, reassuring them that you both were just best friends. It hurt, and you could feel your heart breaking every time Minho downplayed it, making you question if your feelings were even noticed. You didn't know when the feelings started—maybe it was because you often spent time together, or perhaps it was the way you were enchanted whenever you were with him.
As time went on, you continued with your own life, focusing on your studies. Yet, whenever you lost in thought, Minho always seemed to come to mind.
After a long day at college, you finally got back to your apartment, exhausted and ready to rest. Just as you were about to settle in, you heard a notification from your phone. You checked it and saw a message from Minho saying he would be coming over because Felix and Seungmin had somehow managed to burn the kitchen.
Your face lit up, a smile curving on your lips. Even though you had to admit you were really tired and your back ached, you couldn't help but feel a little excited at the thought of Minho coming over.
"Thank you for letting me come here. It was crazy there—Chan was now scolding them both." Minho said as he arrived. He looked around your apartment, taking in the calm atmosphere compared to the chaos he had just left.
"I owed you one for this. If you needed anything, just let me know."
You laughed softly, despite your exhaustion. "No need to thank me. Just make yourself comfortable."
He sat on your couch, trying to calm his mind, while you sat on the floor, hugging your knees to your chest. As you listened, he started to ramble about how the new comeback was wearing him out.
"I swear, this comeback has completely worn me out. With the upcoming tour, I'm just so exhausted." Minho said, running a hand through his hair. You listened quietly, offering a comforting presence.
"I could only imagine how tough that must be. But you were doing an amazing job. It's okay to take a break and just breathe for a bit..." You replied, stifling a yawn as you started to feel sleepy.
"You've never seen me in the practice room. You need to know how tiring it is! Jisung keeps falling, or Chan forgets to mirror the dance." He continued, shaking his head.
You kept listening to his ramble, it made your heart flutter when he opened up to you. Today was just different—you were more tired than ever. You wanted to hear more and value these moments, but you shifted slightly, and your head eventually rested against the edge of the couch.
Minho continued talking until he heard your little snores, realizing you had fallen asleep. He glanced down and was surprised to see you resting against the edge of the couch, a gentle smile forming on his lips.
Not wanting to disturb you, he carefully moved to sit on the floor beside you, letting you rest comfortably.
"I didn't realize how exhausted you were. Make sure you get some rest. I'll stay here for a while."
Tumblr media
You knew you loved him more, and it was becoming clearer each day. Every time you were with him, you could feel butterflies in your stomach and a warm flush across your cheeks. Even if you didn't really hang around the building or accompany him during practice, the time you spent together was enough to make your feelings grow stronger.
You loved him, and you couldn't even describe your own feelings. You could talk about him all day, about the little things he did that made your heart race, the way he smiled, or how he always knew what to say to make you feel better. But no matter how deeply you loved him, a nagging doubt always lingered at the back of your mind.
Did he see you as more than just a friend? Or were you forever destined to be just his best friend, standing on the sidelines of his heart?
It was night time when Minho invited you to tag along with the group at the carnival. You didn't really want to get on the rides, so you chose to just watch them. As time went on, you all walked around, talking and laughing, but you found yourself lagging behind Minho, falling behind the others.
You glanced at his back, wanting to cherish moments like these just with him. Your mind trailed off, and you couldn't help but think that one day, he'd find someone who truly matched him. There were so many beautiful idols out there, and you began to realize.
Maybe you just weren't meant for him.
A deep sadness settled in your chest as you trailed behind, feeling the distance grow between your heart and reality. You watched him from afar, caught between the joy of being near him and the painful acknowledgment that your feelings might never be returned. The carnival lights seemed to mock your longing, a bittersweet reminder of what could have been but likely never would.
You bit your lip, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to fall. You didn't want to ruin this moment—he looked so happy, enjoying himself with the group.
Why couldn't you be strong for once? Why couldn't you just move on from him?
The self-doubt and heartache overwhelmed you, making you wish you could just disappear at this point.
"Y/n? Are you alright?" Minho asked softly, his hand gently resting on your shoulder as he tried to get your attention. As you looked up at him, you saw the concern etched on his face. You didn't want to make him worry.
"I'm fine, Minho. I was thinking how can cats eat leaves." You assured him, adding a joke to deflect his concern. You hoped it would be enough to brush off his worry.
Minho raised an eyebrow, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Cats eating leaves? You're such a weirdo, Y/n." You laughed softly, relieved as his playful comment eased the tension.
Throughout the night, the ache in your heart never quite went away. No matter how hard you tried to push your feelings aside, it felt like everything around you kept reminding you of them, making it hard to enjoy the evening.
Tumblr media
Lee Know from Stray Kids Rumored to Be Dating a Member of a Girl Group.
As you read the headlines, and a knot tightened in your stomach. A flood of questions overwhelmed you, each one gnawing at you and making it harder to breathe.
You knew this day might come, but you didn't expect it to hurt so much. It was as if your heart was being shattered into a million pieces, each one cutting deeper than the last.
You stared at the screen, the words blurring as tears welled up in your eyes. You tried to hold them back, but it was useless. Each tear that fell felt like another piece of your heart breaking away. You should've known better. But why couldn't you just leave him be? Why couldn't you just let go?
You let yourself cry the whole day, dying to ask him if the rumors were true or not. Yet, you didn't dare touch your phone to message him. You were afraid, you were scared. The fear of hearing confirmation, of shattering your last glimmer of hope, kept you paralyzed. Every sob seemed to wrack your entire being, leaving you feeling more fragile and broken with each passing moment.
You clutched your pillow, drenched with your tears. You never imagined that loving him could be this painful. Everything felt unbearably heavy, and it seemed like pure torture. It was as if your world was collapsing, each breath more difficult to take under the weight of your unspoken love.
Luckily, you didn't have class today, so you could cry as much as you wanted. If there had been class, you were sure you wouldn't have been able to focus.
What made it worse was that you didn't have any friends other than Minho and the other Stray Kids members. You hated yourself for not branching out more, and now you had to face the painful reality of moving on from your only close friend.
You kept your word, making an effort to avoid him as much as possible. Your days felt lonelier, and your apartment seemed colder, each corner a reminder of the emptiness you felt.
You hated having to be this way with your own friend. After two weeks, you responded only with short replies or didn't answer his messages at all. His calls went straight to voicemail.
When you arrived back at your apartment, you looked around and realized just how much you missed him. The reality of it hit hard—you were nothing like him, and you felt utterly miserable without him.
Tumblr media
"Hyung, I haven't seen Y/n in a while. I tried to message her but she said she's been busy lately." Han said as he took a seat next to Minho in the studio. He then began to type something on his laptop.
Minho's eyes widened in surprise. "You know about Y/n? I've been trying to reach her for weeks, but she's been completely unresponsive."
Han glanced up from his laptop, noticing Minho's distress. "I didn't know something was going on. I thought she was just busy with school or something. Is everything okay?"
Minho sighed heavily, unsure of what to say. He had never truly asked about you. Running a hand through his hair, he muttered.
"I don't know... She's not her usual self these days..." Minho admitted, his voice tinged with uncertainty. He was confused about what to do, feeling lost without knowing what was going on. Normally, you always knew exactly what to do or say in moments like this, but now, without you, he felt completely lost and unsure of how to fix things.
"You know? Y/n is my voice when w-words fail me, she's the person who listens patiently to all my thoughts, and she's the person I depend on when I need someone to be there..."
Seeing his hyung, who almost never talks about his feelings, open up like this was like watching someone who'd been silent their whole life suddenly find their voice. Han could sense just how much you meant to him. It was as if you were the missing piece of Minho's life, the one person who made everything make sense.
God, he wished for someone like you to come into his own life.
"Hyung, I'm sorry to ask this, but do you have feelings for her?" Han's question left Minho stunned.
"What kind of question is that? She's my best friend!" Minho snapped, his words coming out sharper than he intended. There was no way he could have feelings for his own friend, right?
Han looked down at his laptop, trying to gather his thoughts. He had no intention of breaking into his hyung's boundaries, but since he knew you too, he was sure one of you was in love. That thought was embedded in his mind, an unspoken truth he couldn't ignore. He didn't say much, but he noticed the subtle glances and fleeting smiles, the silent language of affection that spoke louder than words.
Tumblr media
Minho didn't know what was going through his mind. His instincts urged him to see you, as if something inside was telling him he needed to. He sent you a message saying he would pick you up today.
As he waited for you to finish class, the minutes seemed to stretch on endlessly. When you finally received his message, you were taken aback.
You spotted him waiting for you, his face obscured by a mask and glasses, and a hat pulled low over his eyes. His attempt at disguise almost made him unrecognizable.
"Hey, dummy."
"Hey, why did you waste your time picking me up?" You asked, your tone coming off colder than you intended. You knew clearly he was supposed to have practice today.
"I have some free time, so why not? Plus, you've been acting strange lately, I was starting to think you'd vanished into thin air." Minho replied with a hint of a smile behind his mask. His eyes stayed fixed on you as you walked ahead, a look of concern and curiosity on his face that felt more intense than usual.
As you both walked side by side, the silence between you felt heavier than usual. You could feel Minho's gaze occasionally drifting towards you.
"Are you okay?" Minho finally broke the silence, his voice softer than usual. You hesitated, struggling to keep your composure.
"It's nothing, really."
He stopped walking and gently placed a hand on your shoulder, making you turn to face him. "Y/n, you don't have to shut me out. If something's wrong, I want to help. You're my friend, and I care about you."
Hearing him worry about you made your heart ache. You took a deep breath, struggling to hold back your emotions.
"It's just… There are things I can’t talk about. Not right now..." Minho's eyes softened with understanding.
You stood in silence, your emotions bubbling just beneath the surface. You wanted to voice everything you'd been holding back for so long, but the words felt trapped, unable to escape.
The awkward silence was broken by a soft, pitiful meow. You and Minho turned simultaneously, searching for the source of the sound. Minho's expression softened as he carefully approached, revealing a small, trembling kitten cradled in his hands.
Your heart melted at the sight. Without a word, you reached out and carefully took the kitten from Minho, your vet student instincts immediately taking over. As you examined the kitten with utmost care, you spoke gently to it, trying to calm its trembling. You reached into your bag and pulled out some supplies, preparing to tend to its needs.
Minho watched you closely, mesmerized by your gentle touch and genuine care. He was at a loss for what was stirring inside him, but as he watched you tenderly care for the kitten, you looked more beautiful than ever. His heart raced uncontrollably, and a warm flush spread across his cheeks.
As you finished tending to the kitten, you glanced up and caught Minho's eyes on you. He immediately averted his gaze, clearly flustered.
"See? You're okay now, little one..." You said, gently setting the kitten down. It looked a bit more refreshed now. You then brought out some food, carefully placing it near the tiny creature.
The warmth in your actions contrasted sharply with the coldness you'd shown him recently. The more he stared at you, the more his heart began to race, each beat louder than the last. He noticed the same habit you both shared, carrying cat food wherever you went. How could he have forgotten about that?
It was just like the day you met him.
You were helping a cat that had fallen into a sewer when Minho found you. He thought you were weird, which is why he called you an idiot. Despite that, he helped you rescue the cat. That shared moment had been the start of your friendship, and now, seeing you like this, he couldn’t help but feel a pang in his heart.
Maybe, Han was right.
"It's like the first time we've met..." He mumbled softly, just loud enough for you to hear.
"Yeah... It does." You replied, a small smile forming on your lips. The memory of that day flooded back, bringing with it a bittersweet feeling.
You bit your lip, feeling the weight of your emotions. With a trembling sigh, you looked up at him, your heart heavy with the realization of the truth you'd been trying to avoid.
"Minho." You started, your voice breaking. "I think... I think we shouldn't be friends anymore."
The words fell from your lips like a heavy, painful blow, and you could see Minho's world crumble in his eyes. As you turned to walk away, each step felt like a dagger to the heart. The light of your presence, once so vibrant, began to fade, leaving behind a suffocating coldness.
Minho felt the warmth of your presence slipping through his fingers, replaced by an overwhelming chill that engulfed his heart.
Tumblr media
"Is he okay?" Chan asked, peering through the door, the rest of the members trailing behind him. They all shook their heads, unsure. Chan sighed and approached Minho's side.
"Man. Listen, I don't know what's up, but you can't keep going like this. We've got stuff to do, and you're not doing anyone any favors by shutting us out. Just talk to us, okay?"
Minho took a deep breath, his voice trembling. "It's her... It's true what Han said, I really love her. Ugh, I didn't understand it at first, but now I see it clearly..."
Chan's expression softened as he listened to Minho's confession. "Then why don't you confess your feelings?" He asked gently. "You have a lifetime chance to win her heart, but that chance could slip away if you let your fears or ego get in the way. You need to be honest with her. It's the only way to find out if there's a future for you two."
Just as Chan's words echoed in his mind, a surge of clarity jolted through Minho. It wasn't too late to confess. He knew, deep down, that you were the only one he truly wanted. The thought of losing you forever was unbearable.
"Also, have you heard the dating rumors about you? That's probably what hurt her. If I'm right, those rumors have been spreading for at least a month—"
"Are you kidding me? A month?!" Minho's voice was a mix of anger and disbelief.
The realization hit him hard. The pain you must have felt—he now felt it deeply in his own heart. It was as if his chest was tightening, making it difficult to breathe. The weight of the rumors and the distance between you both crushed him.
Without thinking, Minho bolted from the room, his heart pounding fiercely in his chest. Never in his life had he felt such fear of loss. The moment you walked away had already broken him, but the idea of losing you forever felt like it would destroy him completely.
When he arrived at your apartment, he noticed the door was slightly ajar. Doubt and worry gripped him.
Why would you leave the door open or unlocked at night?
He hesitated for a moment, his heart pounding as he pushed the door open slowly.
"Y/n?"
When you didn't respond, he stepped inside more fully, the fear gripping him tightening around his chest. His eyes scanned the room frantically before landing on you.
Minho's heart ached at the sight: you were slumped over your desk, surrounded by scattered books and papers. Your exhaustion was palpable; dark circles shadowed your eyes, and your usually vibrant face looked pale and drawn.
Minho gently touched your shoulder, causing you to stir awake. When you fully came to, you were startled to find Minho's face so close to yours.
"Minho? What are you doing—"
Minho cut you off tenderly, his fingers brushing against your cheek with a warmth that felt both comforting and electrifying. You could see his eyes welling up with tears, his voice catching in his throat. The sight of him so broken and vulnerable was almost too much to bear.
"Y/n..." Minho's voice trembled, breaking through the heavy silence.
"I never imagined I'd find someone who could touch my heart like this. But the moment I knew I loved you was when I r-realized how empty my life would be without you. You're everything I've ever wanted and more..."
As Minho's heartfelt confession filled the room, you listened intently, your once-dull eyes beginning to sparkle with emotion. The weight of his words resonated deeply within you, and you could feel your own heartbeat quickening with every beat.
"When you left, the chill that settled in my heart made me understand just how much you were the fire that warmed my soul." Hearing these words, you could barely hold back the tears that threatened to spill. The relief you felt was overwhelming, as if the weight of unspoken feelings was finally lifted from your chest.
"Minho... You've no idea how much I needed to hear this. I've felt so lost, but now, hearing you, it feels like everything is falling into place." Minho gently cupped your face, his touch both tender and reassuring.
"My heart feels like it's been set ablaze." Minho pulled you closer.
As his lips met yours, the world seemed to melt away, leaving just the two of you in a tender, passionate moment. You gently placed your hands on his neck, fingers lightly brushing through his hair.
The warmth of his body pressed against yours, combined with the sweet pressure of his lips, sent a thrill through you, igniting a fire that mirrored the one he had described.
As you pulled away, breathless and flushed, your eyes locked with his. A soft smile blossomed on both your lips, and your noses brushed together in a delicate, shared moment.
"Then let me be the breeze that fans your flames, ensuring our fire burns bright."

THANK YOU!!
Hi, it's simons petty gf anon.
Just a thought, because she's only passive aggressive with her anger but always in a kind way simon is worried that if a physical altercation would happen that she would freeze up. But in reality, she's the dirtiest fighter he's ever seen. (Both of my parents were cops, military grandfather, youngest of 3 only girl) she has no honor in her fighting style, when asked about it, she says there's no honor in a fight. Only life or death.
Alright, ive been wanting to write this properly- but its been sitting in my draft for too long i just need to get it out so- no beta, I hope u still like it tho <3 u_u
All i could think about when i read this is the meme 'call the ambulance, but not for me'
short continuation of this
tw : assault, mention of violence, mention of blood, stalking
Tumblr media
You were Simon's sweet little bird. Known to always be kind to everyone, even to the worst assholes, even to people who didn't like you.
And while you appeared to be nice and patient, with a smile that never faltered no matter what you've gone through, he eventually learned that you were not a pushover despite what everyone thought.
You could stand your own ground, you had your own way of dealing with people who disrespected you.
However, that didn't mean Simon would be less protective of you
Because the world wasn't a safe place, there were things far worse than a little quarrel with strangers, arguments with your mother, an altercation after accidentally bumping into a stranger, or verbal harassment.
He was thinking about real danger.
You were always so soft and gentle, so naturally, it triggered his instinct to protect you from any harm.
That was why he was the way he is right now, heavy boot putting it's full weight on the gas, the sound of the engine rumbled loudly, cutting through the night. Hands gripping on the steering wheels while his eyes were sharp, focused. While his ears fell deaf to the blaring of the other cars honking as he sped past them.
"Simon. Can you send help? I think i'm being followed.. can't really talk or call 911 myself rn" Your text read.
He was lounging at the couch when his phone buzzed. Content on watching the football game that was playing on TV, only to drop everything when he saw your message.
You were having a girl's night out with your besties at this women-only club that had just opened in the city. While he was one protective bastard who always wanted to watch over you, you insisted on him staying home because you wanted to spend the night with just your friends. It was reasonable, so he agreed.
But now? he regretted agreeing to that.
Tires screeched against the asphalt, making a sharp, piercing sound that sliced through the air followed by a loud slam of the door as he stepped out of his car.
With his gaze blurry from dread, he looked at the screen of his phone. He had a tracker planted in your devices, smart watch, laptop, phone. And so he followed the red dot shown in the map, finding himself standing in front of a dark alley.
"Simon" He couldn't be more relieved when he heard your voice and immediately took a few steps into the darkness, turning on the flashlight on his phone before aiming it forward.
The air was thick with the lingering scent of sweat, iron, and damp asphalt, mingling with the distant stench of rotting garbage. A dented trash can lay on its side, its contents spilled and trampled, a mess of torn paper and shattered glass glinting under the weak light. Blood stained the ground in dark, irregular splotches, soaking into the filth of the alley floor. The brick walls bore fresh smears where hands had braced against them, the rough texture now streaked with sweat and something darker.
And at the bottom of said walls, a lone figure was sat. Beaten and stripped off his shirt which was now ripped and used to tie his arms behind his back. Said figure didn't react at his presence, but Simon could see the subtle raise and fall of the person's chest.
"Simon" You called out to him again, snapping him out of his thoughts as he shifted his gaze to you.
You stood there with a smile that he always saw on your face, which was now sported with a fresh bruise, purple blooming beneath your skin. A dark welt shadowed your cheekbone, and a small cut on your lip still glistened with fresh blood. A smear of crimson streaked your jaw—and he didn't know if it was yours or someone else’s.
Your clothes were a mess, your skin tight dress were wrinkled, clinging to your curves like they had been grabbed one too many times. The faint imprint of a handprint marred the fabric near your collar, evidence of the struggle that had just unfolded.
And knuckles were raw, the skin split in places, thin trails of blood tracing along your fingers. Which told him what he needed to know.
Because despite your battered appearance, it was nothing compared to the state of the git who was leaning against the wall.
"Called the ambulance yet?" You asked, gesturing at your victim with your chin.
He didn't know if he could fall in love with you even more, but somehow, he just did.

Ahhhh! I'd be happy to give you some Ominis fic ideas 😁🩷 of course, you could just scrap this altogether but I was thinking 🤔 could we have a 7th year Ominis being able to gain financial freedom from his family because MC gave her Hogsmeade shop to him? I know a lot of people want him to escape to America but Hogsmeade just feels so cozy and perfect for him being a shopkeeper.
And MC realizing her feelings for him during one instance when she had to return to him to replenish her supplies from her travels, and maybe decides it's time to be with him? 😣💕
It's okay if you don't like this plotline but I just finished the Haunted Hogsmeade quest, and I immediately thought of Ominis being its owner!
Thank you so much!!

“You’d think after all these years I’d be better at writing letters, but somehow, I still find myself pausing, trying to decide how to start. Then again, you always make it easier when you write first. Your last letter was… exactly what I needed. You have a knack for saying the right thing, even when you don’t realize it.”
“Anne stopped by the shop recently. She told me to stop ‘hovering like a nervous bird’ over your enchanted scarves and to start charging more for them. Apparently, she’s appointed herself my business manager, whether I wanted one or not. She also asked about you—how you’re doing, where you are, why you haven’t written her back, and, most importantly, when you’re finally coming home. I told her I didn’t know, but she was unimpressed by my answer. Honestly, I’m not impressed either.”
“Sebastian, meanwhile, has decided that I’ve become too boring for his liking. He keeps trying to convince me to pack up and visit you, as though I could just leave the shop to run itself. His words, not mine. It’s ridiculous, of course, but I wonder if there’s something to it. You’ve been gone so long now, it’s hard not to feel like there’s a part of this place missing.”
“Speaking of which—are you planning to come back anytime soon? You told me six months, and that was, what, six months ago? You’re not terrible at keeping promises, but you’re testing the limits here. I’ll forgive you if you write soon with some good news—or better yet, with the promise of coming home.”
“The shop is still standing, though I’ve made a few small changes here and there. I hope you won’t scold me when you see them. It’s funny, even when you’re not here, I find myself thinking, ‘What would she do?’ And sometimes, I swear I can hear your voice, usually chiding me for something I’ve misplaced or forgotten. I wonder—did you know, even then, how much this shop would mean to me? …Did you know how much you mean to me?”
“Take care of yourself, won’t you? Though I doubt I need to remind you. You’ve always been reckless, but you’ve never been careless. But I can’t help worrying about you—it’s impossible not to.”
“Write soon, or better yet, come home. I’d like to see you again. I’d like to… well, there’s plenty I’d like to say in person.”
Yours, always, Ominis
The letter, over a month old now, was worn at the edges, its parchment soft from being folded and unfolded too many times. Your fingers traced the familiar loops of Ominis’ handwriting, lingering over the slight smudge where his quill must have hesitated.
Even as the train carried you closer to Hogsmeade, you felt guilty. You hadn’t written back. But you hadn’t trusted yourself to put quill to parchment, not even to Anne or Sebastian, neither of whom could be trusted to keep your long awaited return a secret.
Six months. You’d promised him six months, and here you were, long past that mark. You’d wanted to return sooner—Merlin knew how much you’d wanted to—but there had always been one more ruin, one more curse to break, one more excuse to stay away.
It wasn’t just the work, though. The truth you hadn’t dared admit to yourself was that the thought of walking into Stitches and Draughts again, of seeing Ominis after all this time, terrified you. What if things had changed? What if the delicate balance of your friendship—of your stupid, traitorous feelings for him—had changed?
Merlin knew you had.
You caught your reflection in the train’s window, and for a moment, it felt like looking at a stranger. The girl you once were, the one with the boundless energy and effortless grace of youth, was nowhere to be found. Gone was the lithe figure and carefree ease that had come with an 18-year-old’s metabolism, replaced by a version of yourself you were still learning to accept. The life of a cursebreaker hadn’t been kind to your body—or your soul. Years of chasing dangerous leads, grueling physical labor, and long nights spent deciphering ancient scripts had taken their toll. Meals were often hurried, whatever you could grab between assignments, and the relentless travel left little room for rest. You were softer now, and your body bore the marks of your journey—an ache in your shoulders from carrying too much weight, faint scars from brushes with danger, and an exhaustion that felt carved into your very bones.
You turned away from the window, forcing your reflection out of sight. The sight of it only dredged up insecurities you had no business indulging—not now, not when you were so close. It was stupid to worry about it, you told yourself. What did it matter whether Ominis found you attractive? Seven years had passed. Seven years of separate lives, separate paths. You couldn’t expect him to still see you as he once might have—or to have waited for you at all.
Back then, you were just kids, after all. Even when your friendship had danced on the edge of something more, neither of you had ever been brave enough to take that final step. You thought of the moments that had felt like more—his hand brushing yours when you walked side by side, the way he’d linger in the shop late into the night, his head tilted toward you as though he could hear the shape of your smile. But those moments were fleeting, always followed by silence or a change of subject. Neither of you had ever said the words.
And now? Seven years was a long time to expect someone to wait for something that was never truly spoken aloud.
Still, the thought haunted you, gnawing at your resolve. Would he notice the changes in you? Would he care about the extra softness to your curves, the faint lines of exhaustion that hadn’t been there before? The idea that he might—that he’d look at you with anything less than the quiet warmth you remembered—made your stomach twist.
The train jolted, pulling you from your spiraling thoughts as it slowed to a screeching halt at Hogsmeade Station. The sound of the brakes, sharp and familiar, was like a spell breaking. You rose stiffly from your seat, clutching your bag as you tried to gather yourself.
The platform was just as you remembered it: bustling with witches and wizards, steam curling in the crisp air, and the faint smell of coal mingling with the fresh, wintry scent of snow. Twinkling fairy lights hung from the lampposts, casting a warm glow on the frosted cobblestones, while festive garlands of holly and enchanted mistletoe draped along the edges of the station roof. You adjusted the strap of your bag and stepped off the train, your boots crunching against the frost-dusted ground.
The walk into the village was surreal, like stepping back into a dream you hadn’t dared let yourself miss too much. The bustling streets, the cheerful glow of the shop windows, the distant chatter of students—every detail tugged at something deep inside you. It looked the same, as though no time had passed, and yet that was precisely what unsettled you.
Time had passed. Seven years, to be exact.
Seven years since you’d walked these streets as a Hogwarts student, clutching a bag of Honeydukes’ sweets or ducking into the Three Broomsticks with your friends to escape the cold. Seven years since you’d stood inside Stitches and Draughts as its owner, turning your ideas into enchanted creations, the room filled with the warmth of softly glowing candles and the sound of laughter. Seven years since you’d worked side by side with Ominis, his sharp wit cutting through Sebastian’s dramatic tales of Quidditch triumphs, all while the three of you shared late nights in the shop as though the world outside didn’t exist.
But even then, you’d known the shop wasn’t meant to be your forever.
The decision to give it to Ominis had come in the quiet months of your seventh year, after countless conversations where he’d confided in you about his family, his fears, and the cage he felt he could never escape. You’d listened as he spoke of the suffocating expectations of the Gaunt name, how every aspect of his life had been dictated by tradition and duty.
And money.
It wasn’t fair. Ominis deserved more than that. Far, far more.
Your Ominis deserved everything.
The idea had taken root during one of those late nights in the shop. He’d been helping you charm a batch of scarves to repel rain when you’d caught him standing at the counter, running his hands over the worn wood. There’d been a wistful look on his face, one that had stayed with you long after the candles were extinguished and the shop had gone dark.
By the time graduation loomed, the decision felt inevitable.
You still remembered the day you handed him the deed, the way his pale fingers trembled as he unrolled the parchment. His expression had been unreadable at first, his face carefully composed as he scanned the document.
“What is this?” he’d asked, his voice low and wary.
“It’s yours,” you’d replied, keeping your tone light even as your heart pounded. “The shop. Everything in it. Consider it a… graduation gift.”
The silence that followed had been deafening. Ominis had stared at you, his brow furrowing in confusion.
“You can’t be serious,” he’d said finally. “This is yours. Your work. You can’t just—”
“I can,” you’d interrupted, placing a hand over his. “And I am. You’re the only one I trust to take care of it. To make it more than I ever could.”
He’d tried to argue, of course. Ominis always argued. But you’d stood your ground, knowing in your heart it was the right choice.
“It’s not just about the shop,” you’d said softly, looking into his unseeing eyes. “It’s... about giving you a way out. A chance to build something that’s yours—not theirs.”
That had silenced him.
He’d accepted the deed reluctantly, his gratitude laced with disbelief. And though you hadn’t admitted it aloud, you’d known you were giving him more than just the shop. More than just securing his freedom. You were giving him a part of yourself, a way to stay connected even when you left.
And now, as Christmas loomed all these years later, your legs carried you through the village, back to that very same place. You were almost on autopilot, even as your heart pounded erratically in your chest with every step that brought you closer to the shop. Around you, the village bustled with holiday cheer, but all of it faded into the background, a distant hum drowned out by the sound of your own heartbeat.
And then you were there.
And Stitches and Draughts looked beautiful.
The building had been freshly painted, its trim gleaming with a soft, snowy white that contrasted perfectly with the deep emerald of the shop’s sign—still the same one you’d painted years ago, but lovingly restored. The doorframe was draped with enchanted holly garlands, the bright red berries twinkling like tiny stars. The windows sparkled in the glow of lights strung carefully along the eaves, and the front display was nothing short of magical.
Inside the glass, enchanted scarves floated gracefully in midair, their threads shimmering with subtle, festive embroidery—snowflakes that danced along the hems, holly leaves that twisted and turned like they were caught in a gentle breeze. Beside them, self-heating gloves sat arranged in neat little bundles, their tags tied with golden ribbons that seemed to hum faintly with charmwork.
It was perfect. Too perfect. And the sight of it, so familiar and yet so undeniably different, had your heart aching in your chest. This wasn’t just a shop anymore—it was his shop. Every detail spoke of Ominis’ care, his precision, his thoughtfulness. He’d taken what you’d built and turned it into something so much more.
Your grip tightened on the strap of your bag as your eyes flicked between the display and the freshly polished door handle. The urge to turn and flee surged through you, but your feet remained rooted to the spot. You’d faced cursed ruins, ancient traps, and magic designed to kill, but nothing—nothing—had ever felt as daunting as the prospect of walking through that door.
Would he even want to see you? Would he welcome you after all this time, after the months of silence and unfulfilled promises? Or had the years widened the distance between you too far to bridge?
The bell above the door jingled as someone exited the shop, their arms laden with carefully wrapped packages. They offered you a polite smile as they passed, but you barely noticed, your gaze fixed on the door that had swung closed behind them.
Your legs felt heavy as you took a hesitant step forward. Then another.
With a deep, unsteady exhale, you pushed the door open, the familiar chime of the bells above echoing like a memory brought to life.
The warmth of the shop enveloped you immediately, the scent of cedar and lavender mingling with something faintly sweet—probably from a batch of enchanted candles near the counter. Shelves lined the walls, filled with bolts of fabric, potion bottles, and racks of neatly displayed scarves and gloves. The hum of magic thrummed softly in the air, a comforting, familiar sound.
But none of it mattered, not really.
Your eyes were drawn to the figure standing behind the counter, his back to you, the blond of his hair catching the golden light.
"Be with you in a moment," he said, his voice smooth and warm, but it hit you like a jolt of lightning.
It had been so long—too long—since you’d last heard his voice, and even now, it was exactly as you remembered, richer with age but still undeniably Ominis. It overwhelmed you, the weight of it pressing down on the breath you tried to draw, stealing the words you’d thought you’d prepared.
And then he turned.
The sight of him was truly your undoing.
Ominis was taller than you remembered, his frame lean but strong, elegant but unyielding. He was wearing a soft sweater in a deep charcoal gray, the fabric snug across his broad shoulders and loose around his narrow waist, the sleeves pushed up just enough to reveal the sharp angles of his wrists and the pale skin of his forearms. His blond hair, a touch longer than it had been when you’d last seen him, was still combed back, though a strand at the front had fallen to rest against the curve of his face.
Time had only refined the sharpness of his cheekbones and the strong, angular line of his jaw. His features were striking in a way that felt almost unfair, the kind of beauty that drew the eye and held it captive.
And yet, there was something softer about him, too—something that hadn’t been there before. The rigid tension that had so often defined him in your Hogwarts years seemed less pronounced, replaced by a quiet ease as he worked. He looked… content.
It was too much.
You’d imagined this reunion a hundred different ways, but none of them had accounted for the way it would feel to see him again, to hear his voice, to stand so close and yet feel the weight of all the time and space that had separated you.
“My apologies for the delay. Welcome to Stitches and Draughts,” he said, his tone polite and practiced, yet warm in a way that made your chest ache. He tilted his head slightly, as though listening more intently. “What can I help you with today?”
The words hung in the air, impossibly ordinary for a moment that felt anything but.
You opened your mouth to respond, but nothing came out. All the carefully rehearsed greetings, the lighthearted explanations you’d planned for why it had taken so long to return, evaporated.
Your silence stretched just a second too long, and you saw the faint furrow of his brow, the slight tilt of his head as he picked up on your hesitation.
“Are you alright?” he asked, his voice softening, concern creeping into his tone.
That was what finally broke you.
“Ominis,” you managed, your voice trembling despite your best efforts to steady it.
His lips parted as though to say something, but no words came, and his sightless eyes, usually so calm and focused, seemed to search for you in the space between.
“Is it—” he began, his voice barely above a whisper, trembling at the edges. “Is… it really you?”
Tears pricked at your eyes, hot and relentless. You nodded before realizing he couldn’t see the gesture.
“It’s me,” you managed.
Ominis moved before you could register it, stepping out from behind the counter with a swiftness that made your breath catch. “You’re here,” he murmured, his voice filled with something close to wonder. “You’re actually here. But you… you didn’t write back. I thought—”
“I know,” you said quickly, guilt flooding your chest. “I’m sorry, Ominis. I—” Your voice faltered. How could you possibly explain everything? The silence, the distance, the fear?
Before you could try, Ominis closed the gap between you. His hands reached out, tentatively searching, as though he were afraid to reach out and find nothing there. When his fingers brushed against your sleeve, he inhaled sharply, and then his hands moved upward, settling on your shoulders.
You watched as his expression crumbled. The carefully constructed composure he’d always worn fell away, replaced by something raw and unguarded.
“You’re home,” he said, his voice trembling. “How long have you been planning this?”
The crack in his voice broke something inside you. “I… for months,” you whispered, your own voice shaking. “I'm so sorry, it took so long—”
Your words were cut off again as Ominis pulled you into him, strong arms wrapping around you with a desperate urgency, his hands firm against your back as if he were afraid to let go, afraid you might slip away again. The suddenness of it made you stiffen, your insecurities flaring instantly to life.
He’d know.
He’d feel the difference—the softness of your curves where you’d once been lithe, the weight you carried now, both physical and emotional. The image of what you’d been years ago, the version of you he might still hold in his mind, clashed violently with the reality of who you were now.
But then there was the feel of him.
Him, warm against you, the steady rise and fall of his chest, the faint scent of his characteristic cologne—it was all so achingly familiar, so Ominis, that you couldn’t bring yourself to care about the way you’d changed.
Tears spilled freely down your cheeks as you let yourself sink into his chest, your arms lifting to wrap around his waist. You clung to him, the years of distance and silence collapsing between you as if they’d never existed.
His hand moved gently, brushing over your hair in a soothing rhythm that made your heart ache. “I missed you hopelessly.” He murmured, his voice muffled by your hair
“I missed you more than anything,” you murmured, pulling back just enough to look up at him, tears still streaming freely down your cheeks. “I thought about you every day.”
Ominis pulled back slightly, his hands still resting lightly on your shoulders. His sightless eyes searched your face as though he could somehow see you, the corners of his mouth twitching into the faintest of smiles. You felt his thumb brush against your sleeve, as if he needed the tactile confirmation that you were truly there. One of his hands slid down to grasp yours, his fingers curling firmly around yours as if to anchor you both in this moment.
For a long, breathless second, neither of you spoke.
Then, without a word, Ominis turned toward the shop’s entrance, your hand still firmly in his. He moved quickly, his steps sure as he crossed the space to the door. Releasing your hand only briefly, he flipped the sign to Closed and twisted the lock with a decisive click.
“To hell with work,” he muttered under his breath, the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
The words caught you off guard, pulling a startled laugh from you—a sound you hadn’t realized you’d been holding back.
When he turned back to you, his expression softened further, though there was still an edge of something you couldn’t quite name in the set of his jaw. Relief, perhaps. Or the determination of someone who wasn’t about to let this moment slip away.
“Come upstairs,” he said, his voice low and steady. “The shop can wait.”
He didn’t give you a chance to argue—not that you would have—before leading you to the small staircase tucked behind the counter. His hand stayed in yours as he guided you, his grip firm but gentle, like he was still afraid to let go.
The stairs creaked faintly under your feet as you followed Ominis into the flat above the shop. The scent of cedar lingered here too, mixed with something faintly herbal—his cologne, no doubt.
“Forgive the state of things,” he said quickly, his tone uncharacteristically self-conscious as he gestured toward the room. “I wasn’t exactly expecting... well, anyone. Least of all you.”
But as your eyes roamed the space, you couldn’t find the “mess” he spoke of. The room was tidy, cozy, and so very him. A small bookshelf stood against one wall, lined with neatly arranged tomes you recognized from your Hogwarts years, alongside a few newer additions. A comfortable-looking armchair sat in one corner, its seat draped with a soft, worn throw blanket. A half empty mug of tea sat forgotten on the small table beside it, next to what appeared to be a half-finished crossword puzzle.
There were small signs of his life everywhere: a folded sweater resting on the back of the chair, a walking stick leaning against the wall by the door, a well-cared-for violin resting in its case near the bookshelf. The window was framed by simple curtains, their edges charmed to shimmer faintly in the light, a detail that felt unmistakably him.
“It’s perfect,” you said, turning to him with a soft smile.
He let out a huff of disbelief. “Hardly. It’s small, and I wasn’t expecting guests, so it’s a bit—”
“No, really,” you insisted, stepping further into the room. “It’s... you. I mean that in the best way.”
His lips parted slightly, as though he wanted to argue, but he seemed to think better of it. Instead, his free hand gestured vaguely at the space. “I haven’t had much reason to bring anyone up here,” he admitted, his tone quieter now. “I usually keep to myself unless Sebastian or Anne drag me out for something."
You turned back to him, catching the faint blush dusting his cheeks as he moved to straighten a few items on the table near the armchair. The sight made your heart ache in the best way, the years falling away as though you’d never been apart.
“It’s nice to see you’ve kept up the crossword habit,” you teased, gesturing toward the table.
Ominis smirked, his confidence returning just enough to quip, “It’s either that or let my mind wander, and we both know that can only lead to trouble.”
You laughed, the sound light and easy, "That's true."
He gestured toward the couch near the window, its cushions plump and inviting. “Sit,” he said, his tone soft but insistent. “I'm sure you’ve been traveling all day.”
You hesitated, still standing near the door, but Ominis stepped closer, his expression gentle. “Please,” he added, his voice quieter now.
With a nod, you set your bag down near the door and crossed to the couch, sinking into its cushions. It was as comfortable as it looked, and you let out a quiet sigh as the tension in your body began to ease.
He moved toward the kitchenette. “Tea?” he asked, his head tilted slightly in your direction.
“Yes, please,” you said quickly, your voice softer than you intended.
Ominis nodded, his movements fluid and purposeful as he filled the kettle and set it on the small stove.
“I’ve got chamomile, mint, and… some Earl Grey that Sebastian swore I’d love but tastes like someone soaked socks in bergamot,” he said, the corner of his mouth quirking into a smirk.
You laughed softly, leaning back into the couch. “Chamomile sounds perfect.”
He nodded, plucking the sachet from its place with an almost practiced precision, his hands moving with the same quiet grace you remembered so vividly. Despite the ease of his movements, you could see the faint tension in the set of his shoulders, the way he hesitated before reaching for the mugs.
"Did Sebastian and Anne know about you coming back?" Ominis asked, his voice calm but carrying a subtle edge of curiosity.
You hesitated, fingers tracing the edge of the couch cushion. "No," you admitted softly. "I didn’t tell anyone. I didn’t… want them to spill the secret. I thought it might be better this way."
He turned slightly, his sightless eyes tilted in your direction, one brow arching faintly. “Better for whom?”
You huffed a humorless laugh, biting your lip. "Me, I guess. I thought if I just showed up, it would be easier. Less... complicated."
Ominis tilted his head slightly, as though weighing your words, his fingers brushing the rim of the mug as he prepared your tea. "You thought sneaking back into Hogsmeade unannounced would be less complicated?"
A faint smile tugged at your lips despite the knot of nerves in your chest. "Okay, maybe not less complicated. But at least it meant I wouldn’t have to explain myself to Sebastian. You know how he gets."
He let out a soft laugh, the sound light and genuine, and it warmed something deep inside you. "Indeed. He is relentless," he said, placing the mug of chamomile tea in front of you on the low table. "Though, I can’t say I’d have been any better. If I’d known you were coming, I wouldn’t have been able to focus on anything else."
You looked up at him, startled by the quiet sincerity in his voice. He wasn’t smiling anymore, his expression open and unguarded as he sat down across from you, his own mug cradled in his hands.
“I didn’t mean to make you wait,” you said softly, your fingers curling around the warm ceramic. “I just—” You paused, your words catching in your throat. "I don't know. I suppose it doesn't matter. I'm here now."
Ominis’ lips pressed together for a moment, his brows furrowing slightly as though he wanted to press further. His hands tightened almost imperceptibly around his mug, the tension in his shoulders betraying his thoughts.
But then he exhaled softly, the lines of his face smoothing as he nodded. “You’re here now,” he repeated, his voice quiet but steady, though you could hear the unspoken for how long? lingering in the air.
You quickly took a sip of your tea, the warmth a welcome distraction as you scrambled for something that would steer the conversation elsewhere. “This tea is lovely,” you said, offering a smile that you hoped looked effortless. “Everything is. The flat, the shop... it’s all incredible. You must be so proud of what you’ve built.”
Ominis tilted his head slightly, his expression softening into something almost amused. “That’s kind of you to say, but I hardly think a well-stocked tea shelf qualifies as incredible.”
You laughed, grateful for the easy banter. “It’s not just the tea shelf, though it is very impressive. The shop looks amazing—I noticed the display when I walked in. And the enchanted holly on the door? It’s such a nice touch. It’s all so... you.”
He leaned back in his chair, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “I did have some help with the holly—Anne insisted. She thought it might ‘soften my cold, foreboding reputation.’”
You grinned, picturing Anne bustling around the shop, her infectious energy clashing against Ominis’ quieter demeanor. “I think it works. Though I can’t imagine anyone thinking you’re 'foreboding'.”
“Oh, you’d be surprised,” he said dryly, his smirk deepening. “Anne says I scare away the first years who stop in. Apparently, my ‘stern demeanor’ doesn’t pair well with curious children looking for enchanted scarves.”
You laughed, the image of wide-eyed first-years inching cautiously into the shop playing vividly in your mind. “I’m sure you’re not that bad,” you teased. “Maybe they just don’t appreciate your charm.”
Ominis quirked an eyebrow, his smirk softening. “Charm, is it? I’ll be sure to tell Anne you said that next time she accuses me of being the ‘shopkeeper equivalent of a Boggart.’”
That earned another laugh, lighter this time, and you shook your head. “If she really thought you were a Boggart, she wouldn’t have helped with the decorations.”
“She likes to keep me humble,” he replied, his tone full of wry affection.
But even as Ominis joined in your banter, you could see the way his fingers drummed absently against the side of his mug, his thoughts clearly turning over something unsaid. He was playing along with your attempts at small talk, but you knew he wasn’t fooled.
Still, for now, he let it go, his quiet smile lingering as he said, “So tell me, how does it feel to be back?”
The question caught you off guard, and your smile faltered slightly. “It feels... surreal,” you admitted, your voice softer now. “Like I’ve been gone forever, and yet somehow nothing’s changed.”
Ominis nodded, his expression thoughtful. “Hogsmeade does have a way of staying the same. But you..." He hesitated, and his words hung in the air, unfinished but heavy with meaning.
You’re different.
He had noticed. Of course he had. Ominis was nothing if not perceptive.
You lowered your mug to the table, your hands curling into your lap as if that could somehow steady you. The warmth that had spread through your chest moments ago was now replaced with a twisting unease, a voice in the back of your mind whispering, This is it. This is when he sees what’s changed and decides it isn’t enough. That you aren’t enough.
"I know I’m different," you murmured, your voice trembling under the strain of your nerves. It cracked as you spoke, barely louder than a whisper. "I… I’m not the same person I was when I left. I know I’m not exactly how you remember me, and I—" Your breath faltered, hitching as you shook your head, your thoughts spiraling. "I just didn’t want you to be disappointed."
“Disappointed?” Ominis’ voice broke through your spiraling thoughts like a sudden, sharp wind, and when you looked up, his sightless eyes were fixed on you, his expression taut with something between shock and frustration. "Is this... is this why you've taken so long to come home?"
The question hung in the air, sharp and unrelenting, like the edge of a blade poised to strike. You opened your mouth to answer, but no sound came. The truth was tangled in your chest, knotted with years of insecurity and fear, and the weight of it pressed down on your throat, stealing your voice.
Ominis’ expression softened as he straightened in his chair, his jaw tightening as though he were holding back his own frustration—not at you, but at the very idea that you could feel this way. He exhaled slowly, his fingers tightening around his mug before setting it aside with deliberate care.
“Is that really what you’ve been carrying all this time?” he asked, his voice quieter now, but no less intense. “You thought I’d be... disappointed? In you?”
The lump in your throat grew heavier. "I’ve been gone so long... and you’ve built this incredible life here, and I—” You hesitated, your breath catching as you fought to steady yourself. “I didn’t know if I’d still fit into it.”
“You think I could ever—” He stopped himself, exhaling slowly as he ran a hand through his hair. “Merlin’s beard, don't you have any idea how much of this life exists because of you?”
Ominis leaned forward further, resting his elbows on his knees, his hands clasped tightly together. His fingers curled and uncurled against one another, as though he were searching for the right words. When he finally spoke, his voice was softer, but no less firm.
“Do you know what I thought when you walked into that shop today?” he asked, his words deliberate.
You shook your head, though he couldn’t see it. “No,” you whispered.
“I thought I’d finally woken up from the longest, most frustrating dream of my life,” he said, his lips twitching into a faint, almost self-deprecating smile. "And now, you’re sitting here, telling me you’re afraid I’d notice you’ve changed. Of course you’ve changed. I’d be more worried if you hadn’t. Life does that to people. It changes them. But just because you're different doesn't mean..." he swallowed, his words catching for just a moment before he pressed on, his voice quieter but laced with conviction. “Just because you’ve changed doesn’t mean you’re any less.”
He paused, his fingers tightening where they rested, his knuckles pale with the effort. His expression softened as his words seemed to tumble out, as if he couldn’t hold them back any longer. “That couldn’t be further from the truth, actually.”
You blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift in his tone, by the faint flush creeping up his neck.
Ominis sat back slightly, his hand running through his hair in a rare display of bashfulness. “It’s been seven years,” he continued, his voice quieter now, almost hesitant. “Seven years, and in the brief time I’ve had to—to touch you, to hear you, to smell that very same perfume you always wear, you’ve only… Merlin, I don’t even know how to say this without sounding foolish.”
You felt your breath hitch, your pulse quickening as his words sank in. He wasn’t looking at you, not exactly, but the intensity in his voice made it feel as though he could see every piece of you, laid bare and vulnerable.
He exhaled slowly, tilting his head slightly in your direction as he gathered his thoughts. “You’ve only improved,” he said finally, his voice low but unwavering. “Despite whatever ridiculous notions you’ve been carrying around, you haven’t diminished. You haven’t become ‘less.’ If anything, you’re... more.”
“You’ve been away, yes," he continued. "You’ve faced things I can only imagine. And yet here you are, sitting in front of me, as strong and resilient and...” He hesitated, his lips curving into a faint, almost shy smile. “As breathtaking as the day you left. You think I’d notice the changes and find fault with them? How could I, when every single one is just another piece of the person I’ve been missing for so long?”
Your hand flew to your mouth, your vision blurring with tears. "Are you... you sure? You really don't have to say this, I—"
He shook his head, raising a hand to stop you, though his touch hovered just shy of reaching across the small space between you. “Of course I'm sure,” he said, his voice soft but insistent. “I’ve never been more certain of anything."
He drew in a slow, measured breath, his shoulders rising and falling as though he were steadying himself for a duel.
“I’ve spent seven years wondering if I’d ever get the chance to say this,” he admitted. “To say all the things I was too much of a coward to admit before you left. And I won’t waste it by letting you believe for even a second that you’re anything less than extraordinary," his voice softened, trembling at the edges as he stood from his chair. For a moment, he simply stood there, his sightless eyes cast downward as though steadying himself for what he was about to do. Then, slowly, he moved forward, kneeling on the floor in front of you with a grace that made your breath catch.
His hands reached out, tentative but deliberate, brushing over yours where they rested in your lap before curling around them.
“You don’t have to say anything,” he said quietly, his voice raw with emotion. “But I need you to hear this. I need you to understand.”
You opened your mouth to respond, but he shook his head, cutting you off gently.
“I love you,” he said, his voice trembling slightly, his thumbs brushing over the backs of your hands. " I’ve loved you for so long that I don’t even remember what it feels like not to. And I know I should’ve said this before. I should’ve told you when we were still at Hogwarts, when you handed me the shop, when you left. But I was scared. Scared of what it would mean, scared I’d ruin what we had. And then you were gone, and I thought… I thought maybe I’d lost my chance.”
You couldn’t speak, couldn’t move, your heart pounding so hard it felt as though it might shatter through your ribs.
“But now you’re here,” he said, his words almost a whisper. “And I can’t let you leave again without knowing how much you mean to me. You are the most extraordinary person I’ve ever known, and I’ve spent seven years building a life that, no matter how complete it might seem from the outside, has always been missing you.”
You stared at him, your breath catching as the world seemed to slow around you. The face you’d waited seven years to see again—its every detail etched into your memory but now somehow more vivid, more real—was right before you. The faint furrow of his brow, the slight parting of his lips as though bracing himself for your response, the glisten of unshed tears in his sightless eyes.
It was all so achingly familiar, and yet time had made him even more beautiful in his quiet, unassuming way.
And you loved him.
You always had.
The years apart, the missed chances, the countless letters you’d written and rewritten but never sent—it all fell away, leaving only this moment. This man. The only person who had ever made you feel like you belonged.
“I’ve loved you too,” you whispered, the words spilling from your lips unbidden, your voice trembling but resolute.
Ominis stilled, his brows furrowing further as though he hadn’t quite heard you. “What?”
You reached out, your hands shaking as you cupped his face, your thumbs brushing over the faint stubble on his jaw. His breath hitched, his sightless eyes searching the space between you as though trying to see what your touch already told him.
“I love you, Ominis,” you said again, your voice steadying as you saw the hope flicker to life in his expression. “I always have."
His lips parted, his breath catching audibly as he tilted his head toward your hands, leaning into your touch as though it were the only thing grounding him.
“Say it again,” he whispered, his voice trembling.
You smiled through your tears, leaning closer until your forehead rested against his. “I love you,” you murmured, your voice soft but sure.
A shaky laugh escaped him, a sound filled with so much relief and joy it sent a fresh wave of tears streaming down your cheeks. His hands moved to cradle your face, his touch reverent and tender as his thumbs brushed away your tears.
“Merlin,” he breathed, his voice cracking with emotion. “I can’t believe... after all this time...”
“Believe it,” you said, your voice filled with quiet certainty.
His grip tightened slightly, his hands trembling as he pulled you closer. “Promise me,” he murmured, his breath ghosting over your lips. “Promise me you’ll stay—I’m begging you—don’t leave again. Merlin, I... I can’t go another seven years without you. Not knowing where you are, if you’re safe, if you’ll ever come back.”
You didn’t hesitate. “I promise.”

Clueless at 3 a.m.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x female reader
Summary: The Internet has been a weird place for Bucky and his friends having a blast making fun of him.
Words: 1k ish
Warnings: friends mocking each other (so none lol)
———————————————————————
„Can you send me the meme with the running chicken? I wanna send it to my nephews.“ Sam asked with his phone in one hand.
„Yeah give me a minute.“ You searched for his chat.
Steve entered the kitchen and gave Bucky a friendly nudge. He was watching you and Sam talking about memes and reels for about solid twenty minutes with a confused look on his face. „What are they doing?“
Bucky turns his head slightly. „I have not the slightest idea. But they acting like its something important.“
„She should be with Tony right now to plan Peppers birthday party for next week. Did she forgot?“ Steve mumbles to his friend.
You roll your eyes and turn around. Both of them had their arms crossed in front of their chests and were standing wide legged, watching you like bodyguards. But only Bucky had a softness in his eyes that exposes him as your boyfriend.
„No she did not forget. She can also hear you perfectly fine and it is indeed something important.“ You walked over to Bucky who instantly untangled his arms to wrap them around your waist. He leaned down a bit and you came halfway up on your tiptoes to give him a kiss.
Sam sighted. „C’mon guys. Next to you everyone feels extra single these days.“
„Let them be happy, Sam. They deserve it. At least we don’t have to hear them crush on each other anymore, like we did when they weren’t together yet.“ Steve cringed. „So much drama.“
„Watch it Rogers“, Bucky snaps. „You are my friend but I would still kick your ass.“
„Enough. All of you.“ Sam pointed at you. „You need to help me find this one video we talked about yesterday. My sister will love that.“
„Oh yeah I think I saw it on YouTube. I can look it up and send you the link.“ You offered, making an effort to free yourself from Buckys grip. He unwillingly let you go back to your laptop on the kitchen counter.
You closed the tabs with the documents for that upcoming birthday party and searched for the video Sam wanted. A presence appeared behind you and not a second later you could feel Buckys chin resting on your shoulder. You glanced to him out of the corner of your eye. He was focused on the website. The curious and innocent look on his face made you grin. He really has no clue about the internet.
„Geez Buck. Can you keep your hands off her for just a second?“ Sam jokes on the other side of the kitchen counter.
He glances over to him. „No. Can you admit that your nephews will never think your cool even if you send them this meme stuff?“
Steve laughs with one hand on his chest. „Oh he got you.“
„Your just insecure because you don’t know what we are talking about. Bet you never saw a video and have no idea what a meme is.“ Sam points at Bucky with his phone, challenging him. But he just shrugs.
„Don’t have to. My girlfriend can explain it to me.“ And with that he gives you a long kiss. You smile at the snickering from Sam and Steve as they leave you alone in the kitchen.
„I really have to go help Tony. He went all mastermind this morning and planned way to much details. Pepper will kill me if I don’t stop him writing her name all over the sky.“
Bucky nods and brushes a kiss on your forehead. „Then you better get going and stop that maniac from overdoing it. Again.“
„Will do.“ You kiss him on the jawline. „Love you, Buck.“
„Love you too, doll.“
You were long asleep as someone shakes you and ripped away that wonderful dream about Bucky doing something … really thoughtful.
„Y/n. Wake up!“
Confused and a bit annoyed you look up to Sam. He had a big smile and something mischievous crossed his face. „Sam? Why are you waking me?“ You looked at the digital clock on the nightstand. „It’s fucking 3 am!“
You create a mental list:
First: Get revenge on Sam for interrupting that very interesting dream.
Second: Tell Bucky about your dream and convince him to recreate it the next time the two of you get to be alone.
„I know. I know! But it’s important. It’s about Bucky.“
Your head snaps to the other side of your mattress. Empty. Bucky should be sleeping there peacefully. Fear hits you like an ice cold brick and you get up to jump out of the bed.
„Where is he? What happened?“
Sam shushes you. „Nothing bad. I promise. But you have to see this.“
Your trembling heartbeat started to calm down and you follow Sams instructions to stay still. He leads you down the hallway, into the living room. Without making a sound he tells you to look around the corner. You hesitate at first. But then a weird noise catches your interest and with a last look to Sam, who is now nodding like a exited child, you risk a look in the living room.
On the sofa sat Bucky. In full darkness except for the screen of your laptop wich was placed in his lap. He was sitting with his back turned to you, so he didn’t notice you creeping around the corner.
And you had to control every fiber of your being to not laugh out loud. Because there was Bucky, sitting in the darkness at 3 am, watching funny cat videos on YouTube.
The former Winter Soldier. Feared by everyone. Respectable Avenger with a grumpy attitude. White Wolf. Chuckling because of clumsy cats.
Your heart flooded with love and threatened to explode. This man was the most adorable thing you had ever witnessed.
„This is the best moment in my entire life“, Sam whispered with a spiteful smile. And reached for his phone to film Bucky.
You punched his shoulder. „Don’t you dare ruin this for him.“
„But look at him! C’mon y/n.“
You gave him your best I’m-gonna-kill-you look and Sam dropped it with an dramatic eyeroll. He will definitely tease Bucky the first thing in the morning.
Kids, you thought in silence.
About an hour later you could feel the mattress lowering behind your back, when Bucky came back to bed. He let out a sigh and wrapped his arm around you to pull you against his bare chest.
„I think we should get a cat.“
You suppress a laugh and turned around to kiss his cheek. „Yeah I think that’s a wonderful idea.“

the boss’s daughter (gr63)
Tumblr media
george russell x wolff!reader
summary: you become attached to a certain british driver, but he panics when he thinks about the repercussions of your relationship
notes: i’ve only ever written george one other time and it didn’t get all that much love, but that could’ve been bc the tags weren’t working so we’ll see how this goes. i hate having to do math with ages when it comes to fics so we’re all going to pretend that toto and susie are older than they are so they can have a daughter who is age appropriate for george 👍
Your father had tried his hardest, for years, to get you interested in racing. Your parents were Susie and Toto Wolff for god’s sake, it didn’t make any sense to him why you were so disinterested in cars.
Susie tried to convince him it was okay. “So she’s not going to be a Formula One driver, she’ll find something else. Something she enjoys.”
Little did they know that something was going to end up a someone.
Some might’ve called it lazy, your gift to your father on father’s day being the promise you’d attend a race weekend with him. But you would call it financially responsible.
You mother made you keep your promise, even after gifting him something he’d actually use.
“It’ll make him so happy.” She cooed at you.
And happy he was, taking you around the paddock from garage to garage, introducing you to the other team principals, even a few of the drivers. You ended your tour back at the Mercedes building, you father’s arm over your shoulder as he guided you through the crowds.
He tugs you along with him as he talks to the engineers. You’re sure it’s important, but to you it just sounds like nonsense droning on.
Your eyes wander around the garage, stopping on the two drivers standing in the corner.
You’d met Lewis before, you father adored the man. He was invited to various family gatherings and parties. He was sweet, his dog Roscoe even sweeter.
You hadn’t met George yet though. Sure, you’d seen him on the team instagram, accidentally turning himself into a meme practically every weekend.
You watch as George talks animatedly with Lewis, his hair slightly falling into his face. Lewis eventually gives George a pat on his arm, then walks away, leaving the younger driver alone.
“You haven’t taken me to meet George yet.” You tell your father once he’s finished with the engineers, softly tugging at his arm.
He pulls you over to the young British driver, who seems to stand up straighter in the presence of your father.
“George, this is my daughter, Y/n.” He introduces you.
When George’s eyes meet yours, you can’t help but drown in them. The soft green practically glitters in the sun.
“Nice to meet you.” He says, holding his hand out to you.
You take his hand in yours and shake it. “It’s nice to meet you too.”
Toto looks between the two of you and very quickly notices the glint in your eyes. He also notices the way George’s lips tilt upwards in a soft smile.
“Alright, c’mon, let’s leave George to get ready.” He says, attempting to pull you away from George.
“But I want to see the car.” You keep yourself planted in front of George.
“You can go see Lewis’ car. I’m sure George wants some time alone before the race.”
“I can show her. I’m not busy.” George says, shrinking slightly when Toto’s eyes meet his.
“Alright.” Toto says gruffly, making sure to follow right behind you as George leads you to his side of the garage.
George almost looks nervous as he shows you his car, pointing out different things, then showing you everything on the steering wheel. You step closer to him, your shoulder brushing against his as he points at the different buttons.
Toto lets out a breath when it’s time for George to actually get ready for the race and get in the car. He pulls you back over to where he sits with the engineers and sits you down next to him.
The race is long, but at least if you watch the screens you’ll actually be able to see the cars driving as opposed to their zooming by on the actual track.
George only makes it barely outside the podium, scoring P4 after the race. You watch as he pulls his helmet and balaclava off in frustration. His golden hair sticks out in every direction. A light sheen of sweat coats his face, and you can see the light pink imprints on his cheeks from the balaclava.
You’re able to escape your father for a moment after the race to find George talking to some of the Mercedes workers. He’s got his race suit tied around his waist and a water bottle in his hands.
“Hi George.” You say when there’s a break in their conversation.
“Hi Y/n.” He says, giving you a small smile. “I hope you enjoyed your first race.”
You shrug. “It was alright. I much preferred the company before and after the race.” You tell him, letting your hand trail up and down his bicep.
He flushes under your gaze, stuttering out a quick “thank you” before he’s pulled away.
He doesn’t see you again that day, hoping that you’ll decide to attend another race sometime in the future.
You do, hoping to see the British driver again, maybe this time without your father watching over you like a hawk.
You attempt to seem more casual in the garage this week, only letting your eyes wander occasionally in search of George. He’s not hard to find, his height making him easy to see.
You catch his eye as he gets ready for the race. He gives you a soft smile, to which you reciprocate and give him a wink. His face flushes as he quickly tugs the balaclava over his head.
He doesn’t get a podium, but stays pretty high in the points. He’s slick with sweat when he gets out of his car, his hair is flattened to his head, and sticks out when he runs his hands through it.
He lets out a breath when he gets back to his driver’s room, closing the door behind him, but feels it get caught in his throat again when he sees you on his couch.
“Hey George. Good race.” You tell him.
“Th-thank you.” He stutters out. “Who let you in here?” He doesn’t sound put off or offended in his question, he’s genuinely curious as to how you found your way to his room.
“My dad is the team principal. I have access to pretty much wherever I want.” You stand up and slowly walk over to him. “Look at your hair.” You say as you softly run your fingers through the golden strands, attempting to straighten them out.
George huffs out a small laugh, not sure what to do. You’re very close to him now, practically pressed up against him. He can see the sparkles in your eyes, and can smell your sweet shampoo.
You catch his eyes wandering around, seemingly looking anywhere but at you. You use your fingers yo tilt his chin down so that he has to look at you. You smirk up at him.
“Do I make you nervous George?” You ask softly.
His cheeks flush. “No, no, I’m fine.” He gives you an unconvincing smile.
“You are actually.” You tell him as you lean towards him. You give him plenty of time to back away before pressing your lips to the corner of his mouth.
The kiss is brief, teasing. George can’t quite process it’s happening before you pull away.
You give him a soft pat on his chest, the black fireproofs smooth under your hand. “See you later George.” You wink, then leave him in his driver’s room.
George can’t seem to look his boss in the eye after your encounter in his room, especially not when you seem to find him at every race, and pull him into secluded rooms or hallways with your lips attached to his.
He’s in dangerous territory, he knows that. But he can’t stop. Not when your tongue is practically down his throat, and not when he holds you in his arms in his hotel room at night. He’s grown attached to you, addicted one might even say.
He doesn’t know what this is, neither of you have put a label on it yet, but the time you’re spending together sure feels an awful lot like the time a couple would spend together.
He was equally relieved and terrified when you told him that you wanted to make your relationship public. It was in his hotel room, you were wrapped up in his arms and a blanket, playing with his hands when you told him. He was glad to hear that you were in fact dating, that his heart could stop clenching every time he was with you, wondering if it was going to be the last.
He however knew that he was not mentally or physically prepared to find out what was going to happen when Toto found out. Was he going to lose his job? His life? Both were reasonable expectations in his head.
You’d been around George long enough now to sense his unease. You sit up, slightly pulling yourself away from him. “Unless… you don’t want to…”
He can’t speak, he can’t find the right words to say, he’s seemingly paralyzed.
“Okay. I get it.” You say, getting up from his bed. “You can’t date the boss’s daughter. Obviously. It was stupid to think this could work.”
He scrambles up from the bed when he finally processes your words. His sweatpants get caught in the blanket, tugging them lower down his hips. “Y/n, wait-”
You grab your small bag you brought to his room and walk to the door. “It’s okay George. Really, I understand.” You sigh. “I had fun though.” You give him a small smile before leaving.
He gives you space for the rest of the night, hoping that he’ll be able to find you at the track the next day to talk things through. He’s surprised when he doesn’t see you anywhere. He attempts to casually ask Toto where you had gone.
Toto doesn’t think twice before answering. “She wasn’t feeling well. She took a plane back home this morning.”
He waits for you to appear again, race after race after race, hoping that you’ll come back and talk to him. He tries calling, texting, even messaging you via instagram, all of which go ignored.
He feels like he’s lost a part of himself. And he’s determined to get that back.
Toto is surprised to find George at the door to his home over the break. The poor British driver wrapped up in a coat, shivering, clutching an almost frozen looking bouquet in his hands.
“George? What are you doing?” He asks.
George takes a deep breath. “I’m here to see Y/n. We were together during the season, but I made a mistake, and now I’m here to apologize and ask her if she’ll have me. Again.”
Toto looks even more confused. “You were dating my daughter?”
George gulps. “Yes. I was. And it was amazing, and I really care about her. And I would like to keep… dating your daughter…” he trails off.
“Leave.” Toto attempts to shut the door.
“Dad?” George sees you appear behind your father. “George, what are you doing here?”
“I’m here to apologize. I shouldn’t have let you leave, and I should’ve been able to make our relationship public. I’m here to ask you for another chance.”
You brush your father out of the way, and grab onto George’s free hand, pulling him inside and closing the door behind him. His hand is freezing, and you feel just how cold his cheeks are when you softly cup his face. You don’t know if the pink blush on his face is from you or the cold.
“No. This is not happening. Absolutely not.” Toto says.
“Dad, I’m dating George. Whether you like it or not.” You turn to face him. “George is a good guy. You know that, you see him practically every weekend. And I’m going to be very upset if you kill and/or fire my boyfriend.”
Toto looks back and forth between the two of you. George with his wide eyes and flushed cheeks, and you with a pout on your lips and your eyebrows raised, as if challenging him to do something.
“Fine. You can date my daughter. But no sneaking away at races.” Then he looks directly at you. “No going into his driver’s room.”
You roll your eyes. “Fine, I won’t go into George’s driver’s room anymore.”
“Anymore?!”
You giggle as George tries to hide himself behind you.

ISAT OCS: character sprites and (quick) introductions!
Part 0 | Introductions | Concept Art Dump | Ornithomancy | Memes | Trivia |

Meet the party! And our antagonist!
-
Celest | The Card-Reader (Celestine) (belongs to me, Paper Type, she/they)
Tumblr media
A silent card-reader who has an unusual fascination with stars. Her predictions are unnervingly accurate, even if they don’t always happen as expected.
A walking Greek tragedy, shameless Islander insert oc, and the most emotionally dysregulated being in the Universe next to Siffrin or Himawari, but is VASTLY worse hiding it. She's honestly one of my most fleshed out characters, and if I'm being honest I've vastly enjoyed writing her interactions with the party. If you were given a nickel for every time she had a mental breakdown and/or cried during the course of the plot you’d be able to retire even in the United States economy because she may say absolutely nothing but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t burst into tears like someone watching Bambi’s mom die on repeat. She makes up for it by probably being the Universe’s second favorite mistake of nature next to the Siffrins and having Universe-powered deus ex machina moments, including:
Predicting people’s deaths!
Finding a series of long lost gods, which definitely has no consequences at all! (lie)
Solving Zelda dungeons using the power of playing cards!
Unlocking forbidden knowledge! With no consequences at all! (even bigger lie)
Avoiding asking for help because of a misguided sense of independence and a self-imposed obligation to base the worth of her life off of carrying out the Universe’s will and helping people to make up for the crime of predicting people’s deaths!
Resurrecting the dead!
Predicting people’s deaths and resurrecting them!
Gambling!
She uses tarot cards as a conduit for her craft– all her craft skills are named after specific major arcana cards, and each party mamber has a designated card.
-
Himawari | The Ghost (belongs to @dasnercaret, Rock Scissors Type, he/they
Tumblr media
Mysterious and tall, with a eagle-like lacquer mask and unusually traditional wear. They're really a nice person underneath their ominous exterior, and have plenty of interesting stories— even if they occasionally contradict.
Default party leader, Meta Knight gijinka (as coined by @smokin-salmon), and the local Dark Souls boss who can and will beat you into the ground at a moment’s notice. But don’t worry, he’s got a heart of gold– no, don’t look at the body count. Has a tragic backstory befitting of his edginess that boils down to having his dad instilling in him a martyr complex so strong that we’ve lost track of the amount of times he’s probably been in near death experiences because he feels a personal responsibility to protect the party. He proceeded to spend the next nine years disassociating so hard that even Siffrin would be impressed, before being forcefully adopted by a 12 year old who decided that they’re friends now and are having soft tacos later. He dies, but don't worry, he gets better, just. Not fast. A solid 50% of this story's angst is sourced directly from this idiot's siffrin-level repressed mental issues. His plotline essentially drives this entire story to the point that he is literally the final boss. no, i will not elaborate on that.
-
Ori (Orion) | The Wallflower (belongs to @scramblecat, Paper Type, he/him)
Tumblr media
A traveler from Vaugarde, able to bring his origami creations to life. His kind and welcoming personality makes him easily likable… but for whatever reason, he has a tendancy to be forgotten.
The consequences of fusing Isabeau and Odile into a person who is the most functional and average human being on earth, except for the fact that he’s got the transgenderism, runs with a gang of trauma-bonded idiots, and accidentally turned himself into SCP 055 Lite by choosing the name of a constellation for his name before the Island got Nuked™. Now everyone who meets him turns into you when you can never remember the name of that coworker you’ve been sitting next to for two years straight and talk to every day. His power is being annoying to any enemy in his vicinity by giving everyone papercuts and buffing the party with the power of paper crafts until they turn into the fantasy RPG equivalent of the Russians in the 2020 Olympics. If it wasn’t for him being the most emotionally stable member of the party the other three would have probably succumbed to the disaster that is a plot with no levity or character development and serves only as the fuel for an AO3 author’s hurt/no comfort addiction.
-
Haruka | The Child (belongs to @aquakirb, Rock Type, she/her)
Tumblr media
A cheery runaway kid studying to become a healer. She does her best to help out the party in any way she can, however small.
Literally the purest thing to grace the Universe. A ray of sunshine that knows no bounds. If you even consider making her sad, you will have half of Ka Bue on your heels ready to kill you, including Himawari, who will probably get to you first. She’s the party’s Bonnie, but do NOT get it twisted that she's a Bonnie clone; she doesn’t have a clue how to cook and doesn’t have nearly as much repressed anger. Actually kind of the opposite. She's strangely mature for her age despite being relatively cheerful and coming off as more childish from an external POV.  Her mom is a mysterious but well-known healer who's been training her since she was six and has essentially turned her into a pint-sized emergency response team.  She has the brand of ADHD that pulls out random information about their interests at the most random times and with zero context.  Also she technically killed a god, but that’s not even worth going on her resume.
-
Aega | The Eternal Rest (belongs to @dasnercaret, Scissors/Rock Type, she/it/they)
Tumblr media
A broken and corrupted Expression, existence wiped away alongside The Universe and it's guides. She wish is to restore that which has been lost, to be remembered... no matter the cost. Her Craft spreads across the land, warping reality as it attempts to restore her power through the dreams of those who fall under her spell.
This bitch. THIS BITCH. I have never simultaneously hated and loved a character in my LIFE. To pair down an extremely complex and lore-heavy explanation, Aega is what happens when you make a god that has extreme power and then make all of reality forget she exists. She's the Expression of the Moon, and essentially presided over the night in its entirety, including the massive amount of constellations that make up an entire religious sect of the Universe Religion; it takes every white girls obsession with their horoscope and the absolutely astounding level of syncretic dissemination that buddhism had on the world, stuffs it in a blender, and makes a smoothie that tastes like existential loneliness, mommy issues, and almost a decades worth of stored up power that she can and will use to do whatever the fuck she wants. And what she wants is for people to stop ignoring her! she doesn't care if that involves the dismantling of reality or the destruction of entire human race, because when you're a god, your sense of object permanence is so skewed that you may as well be an Elden Ring character. Her entire motive is pretty much a mimic of the King, except instead of freezing people in time she puts them to sleep and freezes them! But it's less freezing and more turning them into a cocoon because the Lady Ethereal butterfly dream symbolism energy is OFF THE CHARTS. Her color is that electric blue that everyone wanted to dye their hair in the 2010s and also her namesake. Bet you can't guess what animal it is. (It's a butterfly.) (The Aega Morpho.)

I need to scoop Connor out of Chicago so bad. They’re roughing him up so badly that I NEED to boost his confidence with some sympathy head or something.
LET HIM OUTT (and into my bed)
no because literally i am waiting for him with open arms. he needs an escape from chicago and what better way than to welcome him to my humble abode. i will pamper him, support him, cook, clean, ANYTHING. like the one meme— “i’ll be there for him with open arms, and open legs and an open mouth”
i can just imagine him coming back from a rough game, and instead of being a little bratty like we love him to be, this time he really needs the consolation, and he just wants you. he’d find you in bed, on your phone or reading a book, and immediately plant himself on top of you, enveloping your body into his. your hands would find his hair instinctively, soothing him in the way your hands moved against his shoulders and neck into his hair.
and he'd start kissing your jaw, then down to your neck, shuffling against your body so he could reach your collarbone, and your chest would heavily rise and fall— the feeling of his soft kisses sending sparks through your skin. he'd be more clingy than usual and more affectionate. it wasn't out of character to come home and want to be with you, but this time there was more desparation, it seemed more of a call for help and comfort. you'd press him, wanting to know how his day was, how he felt the game went, and he'd just continue to work his mouth against your skin, now kissing your shoulder and his hand finding its place on the side of your body, grasping softly, but still tightly enough to know his intentions.
your heart would ache, body temperature heating up as he continued to paint kisses across your skin, and you'd want nothing more than to take his suffering away, softly pushing him for his body to roll over and you'd find yourself hovering over his laid back frame, and start your own work against his skin. kissing his forehead, then travelling to his defined cheekbones, slowly trailing to his mouth to plant a delicate, slow kiss on his lips, feeling them stretch against one another as you slowly pulled away, his own chin tilting up craving more of your love.
then you'd make your way down his structured jaw, to his neck, then quickly, as if he had read your mind, he'd be tugging at the hem of his blackhawks hoodie, discarding it onto the side of the bed before he flopped back onto the mattress beneath him, letting you take control.
your hands would be splayed across his warm skin, exploring the ridges of his muscles and your fingers pressing softly into all your favourite places. your hands would then slowly slide to his waistband, your eyes instinctively rising to meet his hazy gaze on your actions through hooded eyes and his bottom lip caught between his top row of teeth.
you'd reach up to place another kiss against his swollen, wet lips, before brushing his brunette locks out of his face, uttering the words of letting you take care of him which earned an eager nod from connor as he lifted his hips to allow you to slide his bottoms off. the strain in his pants was noticeable and had your mouth watering, wanting nothing more than to show your support, in what connor would say was his favourite way.
and you'd be quick to position yourself between his large, thick thighs, hand rested softly against his hip as the other maneuvered in such ways that had connor gasping, writhing for more. and let's just say he really needed that pick me up.

What type of parent will Luigi be?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
———
👶 Baby phase: Obsessed & overprotective
- Absolutely unhinged about you giving birth. Paces the room. Threatens the nurse (apologizes after). Almost cries the first time the baby cries.
“She’s perfect. You’re perfect. What the fuck. What the fuck.”
- Has that new-dad instinct where he holds the baby like she’s made of glass—but still won’t let anyone else touch her without grilling them first.
“Wash your hands. I said again, Mom.”
- Sleeps with a hand on your waist and one on the bassinet. Dead asleep? Hears one whimper and is up like a guard dog.
- Fully becomes a baby-wearing dad. Hoodie, chain, baby strapped to his chest while he makes breakfast. She spits up on him and he’s like “She can do whatever she wants, it’s fine.”
- If she struggles with colic, teething, or reflux, he loses his mind trying to soothe her.
He’s like: “She’s suffering. I can’t take this. Fix her. I will sell my soul.”
- He cries with her sometimes. You find them both passed out on the couch, her little fingers tangled in his chain.
👧 Toddler years: Chaos dad with a soft spot
- He tries to set rules but folds instantly when she looks up at him with those big eyes.
“One more cookie?—Lu, she already had two.”
“…One more. Half. Half a cookie.”
- Will wear whatever she tells him to. Tiaras. Butterfly clips. Sparkly nail polish. His favorite line?
“Real men wear pink, baby. You see Daddy’s nails?”
- Can and will fight a daycare worker if he thinks someone was rude to her.
“Don’t raise your voice. That’s my daughter. She's two. Don’t make me show you what I learned at two.”
- Doesn’t know how to braid but tries so hard. He watches YouTube tutorials and mutters “fuck” under his breath while brushing through tangles.
- Eventually figures out how to do a tiny ponytail and acts like he invented hair.
- Teaches her how to swear in Italian. Only in Italian. “If she’s gonna cuss, she’s gonna sound cultured.”
🧒 School-age years: Unhinged PTA dad
- Shows up to every event. Talent show? Front row. Soccer game? Screaming like it’s the Super Bowl.
“That’s my girl! You see her footwork?? Ref! REF!”
- Way too invested in her friendships.
“I don’t like that Ava girl. She seems fake. Don’t give her your snacks again.”
- Does all the voices during bedtime stories. Fully commits.
“Once upon a—hold on—baby, this dragon voice isn’t scary enough, gimme a sec—”
- If she’s ever bullied? Luigi’s got no chill. Pulls the principal aside like,
“You better handle it. Or I will.”
- Lets her fall asleep on his chest every weekend during movie night, then acts mad about being stuck but never moves. You catch him smiling at her every time.
- Super aware of how important emotional validation is. He didn’t grow up with much of that, and he swore he’d do better.
“You’re allowed to cry, honey. Crying means you’re feeling. Feeling means you’re alive.”
- Has deep talks with her in the car. Plays her his favorite songs and explains what the lyrics mean.
“This one makes Daddy think of Mommy. Listen to the words, okay?”
- Tells her “I love you” every day, every phone call, every drop-off. Never lets her question it.
👩 Teenage years: Scary but soft
“No dating ‘til you’re thirty. Or until I’m dead. Whichever comes first.”
- Very scary to any boys/girls who show up at the door, but also lowkey cries when she goes to prom.
- Checks her location constantly. Sends her memes at midnight. Still calls her "baby girl" in front of her friends.
- She says “I hate you!” once and it shatters him for 2.5 hours, then he shakes it off and hugs her anyway.
“I love you even when you’re mad at me. Deal with it.”
- Proudest dad in the world at every milestone. Graduation? He sobs. Moving out? He helps her carry her boxes while wiping his face on his sleeve.
Bonus drabble:
It’s past midnight when she starts crying.
Not screaming. Just that soft, hiccupy little sound you know means she’s tired, restless, fighting sleep like she’s got something to prove.
You groan from the bed—bone-tired—but before you can even sit up, Luigi’s already out of the sheets.
“I got her,” he murmurs, voice still low and thick with sleep. “Stay in bed, baby.”
You watch him pad across the nursery barefoot, shirtless, hair messy. His silhouette in the nightlight makes your chest ache.
He leans over the crib and scoops her up like she’s nothing—like she’s weightless.
“Hey, hey,” he coos, pressing her against his shoulder. “What’s the matter, huh? You miss Daddy?”
She whines into his neck. He sways instinctively, hand smoothing up and down her back in slow, practiced strokes.
You expect him to hum. He always does.
But tonight, he sings.
Soft and quiet, like he’s not even sure he means to do it.
A Sinatra song, of course—his voice low and gruff in a way that barely sounds like singing at all:
🎵 “Fly me to the moon… Let me play among the stars…” 🎵
You blink hard. Lie very still. Try not to cry like a sap.
Luigi whispers the next part into her hair, still swaying slow:
🎵 “In other words, baby… kiss me.” 🎵
His palm rubs soothing circles on her back.
She’s stopped fussing completely now. Her tiny fist is curled in the chain around his neck, and her cheek is smushed against his shoulder.
He stays like that even after she’s asleep—just rocking, kissing her forehead.
You hear him whisper, “Daddy’s got you. Always.”
And even though you’re half-asleep, tears slip down your cheeks.
Because you knew he’d be a good dad.
But this?
This is something else entirely.

Sonic.Exe x Chubby GF [Headcanons]
Tumblr media
[For clarification the Sonic.Exe I’m going to be using is X from Sonic Legacy aka Friday Night Funkin: Rodent Rap] {So if you don’t like FNF you can politely leave and click not interested}
[Not Proofread]
Tumblr media
~•Banner by Ad0rey on pintrest•~
★ Okay, so first off how did you manage to get this guy to not kill you let alone date you??
★ Despite the differences in body structures and personalities plus the fact he's an anthropomorphic hedgehog and you're a human is very surprising..
★ Also surprisingly he doesn’t really mind the difference between you and him, in fact he actually likes it. He’s always been interested in humans whether it be for horrific or non-horrific reasons.
★ Like in my previous post since he really ain’t that tall. When he’s trying to be intimidating it is not really that scary to you since you’ve gotten used to him and his presence. He’ll catch you off guard sometimes since he’s sonic [But not really] so of course he’s just as fast as him.
★ But he can say some disturbing ass shit that will frighten or startle you but if he feels like he’s gone too far he will apologize to you but don’t expect him to do that for anyone else. Since you're close to him only you get that privilege.
★ But also because of your closeness to him he will sometimes want you to inflate his ego. If you do participate in boosting his ego [That’s probably bigger than Jupiter /j] expect him to get very cocky and rant about his accomplishments but don’t worry he’ll give you a break if it gets “too awesome to handle.”
★ But if you don’t he’ll roll his eyes and say that you're missing out on a ton of great stories and achievements he’s done.
★ This guy is obsessed with you and your body. He is aware that humans have different personalities, body types and features. Though he’s never encountered a human that had the nerve to challenge him but was also acutely aware of their disadvantages. This intrigued him quite a bit.
★ Plus the way you carried yourself, the way your outfit made you look very attractive but very modest at the same time. The way your hair framed your soft features in such a delicate way. He knew he was hooked whether that was a good or bad thing he didn’t know and he also didn’t really care.
★ If you have any Sonic merch, be on high alert because he’s the number one Sonic fan. [He told me himself /j] He might borrow your Sonic stuff but don’t worry he gives it back to you in the condition it was found in.
★ Does anyone know the “I wonder what I taste like” meme. Yeah, that’s you and him. You would be asking the question obviously and X would have one of two thoughts in his head. The first one would be him biting your chubby tummy or thighs and the second one would just be a normal make out session.
★ Since you’re a bit thicker than a lot of his other victims I can see him using you a personal heater if he gets too cold. He also likes biting and leaving marks on you mostly on your thighs and your sides but if he feels threatened by another person he’ll bite the crook of your neck but if he bites you too hard or if you have skin issues he’ll find some other way to make others back off and let them know that you belong to him.
★ He also likes the feel of skin. It's so soft and squishy. The way your plush stomach looks as soft as a cloud, the way your cheeks puff up with food while you're eating, or the way your thighs expand when you sit down. If he sees you sit down he will legit go up to you and say this. “Damn your thighs be looking kinda grabable.” in a playful/teasing way.
★ If you ever feel insecure about yourself. He might not be the best to confide in because once again he’s known for torturing and killing humans not comforting them but he’ll try his best to help you. Whether it be by listening or physical touch. Maybe he’ll sing or hum some Sonic themes from some of the games he’s seen you play.
★ I feel like he goes into his normal sonic form to trick you. It definitely worked a few times in the past but since you’ve gotten to know him you can see past his tricks. Now it only kinda works if you’ve just woken up and haven’t fully gotten out of the sleepy/tired phase or if you're having an off day.
“Hun.. what are you doing?” You ask X while looking down at him. “What does it look like I’m doing?” He asked as his face deadpanned. A small snicker escapes your lips. “It looks like you're pinning my stomach?” You replied in a teasing tone. X frowns at you while his eyes narrow slightly. “You know.. your stomach do be looking kinda biteable.” X said as he smiled which showed off his sharp yellow teeth. “Okay, Okay.. I’m sorry.” You said in a hurried voice as he laughed.
★ All in All I still think this relationship is sweet in an opposite attract kind of way.

For supercorp 💗 🥹🥹
💗 slow kiss / gentle kiss / inevitable / soft
thanks for your patience, anon! alas, i have gone overboard once more because i cannot help myself.
ask meme
---
she's been given a mandatory month off from supergirl duties. she's not sick, she hasn't solar flared, and she's not hurting for any freelance work that requires her attention. she had simply been told that she needed to take the time off and to avoid any caped hero work unless absolutely necessary.
so that's why she's here now, without superhero work for the next thirty days. free to do whatever she wants.
after the initial shock washes over her, she places her hands on her hips and nods towards alex and j'onn. she knows exactly what she wants to do with her freedom.
"okay."
"look, before you fight th--okay?" alex stares at her, wide eyes mirroring kara's. "really?"
she shrugs, already heading towards the elevator. no need to fight the inevitable. "really."
as the elevator doors close in front of her, she can't help smirking in amusement at the identical confused expressions on both of their faces.
she has one destination in mind.
-
she knocks on the massive wooden door, though she knows she doesn't need to. it's a formality at this point considering the unrestricted access that she's been granted to enter the top floor of this condominium highrise.
still, she waits, because the anticipation is half the fun.
her face splits into an easy smile when lena opens the door to her with her own toothy grin.
"heya," she greets, stepping foot into what she calls home: within lena's arms.
"hello to you, too," lena says, swift yet careful in wrapping kara in her arms. her hands are open as they rub circles on kara's back. kara sinks further into lena's embrace, pulling lena further into her. "how are you?"
"i'm great."
lena stares into her eyes. "yeah?"
"oh yeah. i'm on vacation." she emphatically nods.
lena beams at that. "funny you say that. me too."
she quirks a brow at that, though she shouldn't be surprised. a month vacation doesn't just fall into people's laps without explanation. "yeah?"
"oh yeah," lena mimics her.
kara, still holding lena in her arms, pulls the other woman back in, the two of them swinging in place. "what a coincidence, right?"
lena throws her head back in laughter.
-
they arrive in a private villa off the coast of naples.
it's a modest hillside two bedroom house that overlooks the gulf below. when the local guide roll their suitcases for them, he unknowingly wheels lena's to one room and hers to the other. she smirks and lena tips him handsomely--enough that his olive skin tinges in embarrassment at just how much is in his hands. when their eyes meet after he leaves, they break into a giggle.
because they know the truth, despite not uttering a word of it: why bother taking up more room when right by each other's side is all the space they'll want to take.
despite the destination of her luggage, her body follows after lena to the other room, the one with the better view of the water. just as well, lena's body follows after her when they busy themselves in the kitchen to make themselves a quick dinner. when they finish, they share the hammock sitting out on the back deck, lena's head on her chest and her arms around her waist, while kara's arms wind their way in holding lena against her, their limbs tangled.
when lena yawns a few too many times, they call it a night. lena leads, their hands entwined, and they end up on lena's bed, drawing back the thin covers enough to stave off the inevitable cool night air.
-
they walk everywhere, always touching. a hand on the arm the elbow the bicep the small of her back. an arm slung over a shoulder or hooked together.
it's when they reach a destination that kara's courage grows, that lena's bravery broadens.
when they travel to the town square market as they shop for groceries that lips find their way on one another's skin; the temple the cheek the forehead.
when they treat themselves to a picnic right by a vineyard and lena is leaning back on her between her legs, lips chance on a bare and pale shoulder.
when they lounge in the hammock and lena is resting on her chest, lips chance on collarbones and behind the ears.
when they tire themselves out from full days, fuller stomachs, and fullest hearts that they are in bed and lena is facing her and their legs are tangled with one another, lips chance on entwined hands and fingers.
each one given freely, each one received gracefully.
soon, kara thinks, this will all change. especially when they cross the final threshold between them. though that's a formality at this point, all things considered.
still, she will wait until that happens, more than happy to be exactly where she is.
-
thirty days is long and short and is plenty and is not enough.
on their last day while they wait for their local guide to collect them, they stand on the corner edge of the back deck, lena in her arms as they overlook the gulf for the last time.
"i don't want to go back to work," she murmurs into lena's ear. lena twists in kara's arms until they're facing one another.
"you don't have to, if you really don't want to."
"we can move into this villa. i'll learn to fish. you can sell them at the market."
lena laughs in her arms and kara holds her tighter, like trying to capture lightning in a bottle.
"you're no good as a fisherman, sweetheart."
kara pouts because it's probably true. but she'll learn for lena.
"well, next time we're on vacation, we ought to come back."
"anything you want," lena says, her eyes dipping down to where kara's lips are.
"anything?"
lena nods, assuring, her eyes darkening. kara's smile widens and she leans forward just enough, their noses brushing.
kara is ready for what's to come. she's ready for lena.
still, she waits, because the anticipation is half the fun.
