sort of a tuesday no problem watching update:

i’m trying to decide on a new show to just Have On in the background while i do other internet shit bc a jarring theme song is really the only way for me to surface from doomscrolling and remember that time is passing

so i tried the pilot of The Last Ship. pilots are often bad and i usually give things three episodes to get better before i bail, unless they come really strongly recommended by a friend i trust. tried to read the book the series was based on last summer in hellmountain internship, and in a brilliant move of foreshadowing today’s experience, it’s fucking unreadable. it starts with five pages of Cool Ship Facts.

as much as i love a story about surviving an apocalypse by cleverly utilizing barebones surviving infrastructure, i know too many things about the us navy to enjoy this show. that ship would never be that well-kept. why are they in the north pole. that’s not an icebreaker. there is an black, out lesbian. in the NAVY. HAVING AN ALL RIGHT DEPLOYMENT/EXPERIENCE IN THE NAVY. i cannot express to you how much that jolted me right out of unsubscribing from apartments.com emails in order to say “what the fuck????” out loud and close the hulu tab.

im so tired. i am not asking for tv recs bc i have a watchlist spread over four sites that’s as long as my arm and a google doc of other shit to consume that would be taller than i am if i printed it out, i just want to complain about dumb military shows and whine bc where else the fuck am i gonna do it? therapy later today? i think the fuck not

The freaky archery shit you can do off a horse is only ever hypothetical in Aman, because if there’s no dragon to do it on then what’s the p o i n t.
