Another aviation milestone today with the first flight of Jim Slattery's SB2C-1A Helldiver after restoration by Westpac in Colorado Springs. They were hoping to get her done in time to make the August 17-18 Pike's Peak Airshow and it looks like she'll be able to fly there publicly as well.

With her completion there are now three airworthy Helldivers in the world; Fagen's newly completed SB2C-5 the CAF's SB2C-5, and now Slattery's SB2C-1

I’ve been putting off on posting this for whatever reason but here they are 🫶 my specialest boys!!

I have been thinking about this Au/Crossover situation for MONTHS now btw they infect my brain like little worms

How does it all make sense for these three to coexist? Easy.

Halo & helldivers are from the same-ish universes, sort of, come from different galaxies the UNSC sends their Spartans out to help Helldiver operations as back up from time to time. Helldivers are seen as slightly crazed quacks by the UNSC but it’s better they have Spartans to keep them sane and controlled on more delicate missions then nothing.

Space marines (and warhammer associated factions ect.) exist in a separate universe (naturally) but warp shenanigans means they can bleed over sometimes to this new foreign area (time travel or multiverse hoping, your pick.) and that’s how we got to our current range :3

Curtiss F8C-5 Helldiver. 2-seat fighter and dive bomber with the USMC and USN. 63 were built (later designated O2C-1). Type first flew in 1925

A hearty Bravo Zulu to the team at Fagen Fighters for the first flight of their SB2C-5 Helldiver. It's been a long time coming and now there's finally a second Helldiver back in the air to join the CAF one.

WestPac has nearly finished their SB2C restoration as well and they hope to get her airborne in time for the August airshow.
