Monday Night Raw Thoughts/Observations:
- This boom box blasting, light-hearted version of Brock Lesnar is a blast from the past when he came out with a Mariachi band and mocked Eddie. Very entertaining!
- Xavier Woods is one hell of a friend and consistently taking a beating for Kofi. Dolph and Kofi should have a great match at Super Showdown that will undoubtedly be the highlight of an otherwise dull event.
- Shane McMahon hasn't even wrestled and he's turning the ring into a Slip n Slide with profuse sweating.
- I'm convinced the Lance Anoaʻi name was in reference to that time Fritz introduced Lance Von Erich.
Both failed miserably.
- Roman Reigns has come down like a firefighter to put out the dumpster fire that was this entire segment.
- If you're keeping track, there's only one match within the first hour and it was a two minute squash of Shane McMahon defeating Roman's cousin.
- My favourite part of the evening remains Brock Lesnar having no apparent knowledge on the rules of the MITB briefcase. "What a minute? I have an entire year to cash-in?
*heads back to the dairy farm*
- Becky Lynch and Nikki Cross defeated The IIconics in a serviceable tag-team match.
- How do we make Ricochet's otherwise great entrance weird? Let's add sporadic noise effects. I would love to be a fly on the wall for the following meeting.
"Ricochet's theme music is great, but missing something."
*Accidentally hits a few buttons in GarageBand*
"Whoa! Wait! That's IT!"
As fully expected, Ricochet vs Cesaro was the undeniable highlight of Raw so far. What an absolute treat that was to witness.
- It's the Mid-Card Memorial Celebration backstage playing Corn Hole. There's a TON of wasted talent there.
- Well, that was completely misplaced.
Braun: "EVERYONE WILL DIE. EVERYONE WILL GET CRUSHED" By, the way, congrats to the Miz on another baby! YOU WILL ALL GET THESE HANDS!"
- Baron Corbin will go on to face Seth Rollins as Superdown Show for the Universal Championship. A perplexing choice, but the crowd will be underwhelming anyway.
In the immortal words of Tony Schiavone, "That will put butts in seats."
- A food fight. Vince humour on full display this evening.
- Firefly Fun House is consistently the greatest part of a Raw on a weekly basis. It's unique and never overstays its welcome. The segment leaves you wanting more next week. Highly effective.
- Sami Zayn sat in an electric chair while Kayla took live questions from the audience that were overly scripted.
Sami Zayn: "You could have asked me anything. You could have asked me about AEW."
It was definitely scripted, but I was certainly not expecting that.
- Seth Rollins vs Sami Zayn was a very solid match to close out the show.
Overall, this was a fairly average episode of Raw.
