Helaena x Aegon headcanons

I have not written anything fandom related in years but this pairing REVIVED me. I have a couple of fics lately but I currently have FOUR being written. Anyway here are my spicy Helaegon headcanons - engagement / wedding related.

Helaena and Aegon married shortly after Driftmark (the episode). They could have been married sooner but because of Laena’s death it was postponed.

Before their marriage, Helaena resigned herself to dreadful duty - she would do it, for an heir, and spares to the throne. She approached the marriage bed as a necessary task. She looked forward more to the pregnancy and the future children. He was also reluctant, not sure if he could even summon enough desire for the deed, as Helaena was only his sister to him.

Everything changed the first night they slept together. Perhaps, their bond as sister and brother only heightened their passions. Aegon is completely consumed and obsessed with the fact that she was born for him. Helaena who accepted her destiny with dread was pleasantly surprised that sex can be pleasurable and even fun.

Aegon is quite ‘experienced’ and dreaded having to bed a virgin (also scared of hurting her), but during their first encounters Aegon absolutely loved that he was the first to take her.

Despite having no experience, Helaena doesn’t have qualms about sex and sees it as something normal. Its Aegon who was more nervous since he’s scared he’ll hurt her or if it will be a bad experience for her. Helaena didn’t expect she would feel such desire for him.

The young couple enjoyed bedding each other so much that the first few weeks of marriage, you could hardly see them in the castle. Their servants discreetly had to organize things the few moments they are out because things could be pretty rough in their chambers. Even the women blush at how their innocent princess turned out. ;)

After the wedding, they spent a week or two in Dragonstone (in a separate area than Rhaenyra’s) alone together at the insistence of Aegon. Helaena cherishes those few days alone with her husband outside of court.

Sex got better after having kids. Helaena has grown confident in bed and can sometimes be the dominant one (Aegon doesn’t complain, though).

Do you have any headcanons about genderbend helaegon sexual tension

*cracks knuckles* yeah. yeah, I most certainly do. 🙈 do take in consideration that everything i write here is in line with how i characterize the two in The Protector of the Realm (which is my genderbent longfic), so if you aren't familiar with the story there may be a chance you'll find some of the hcs really out there. I go (and will go in the future) into HEAVY detail about how and why they react to each other they they do in the longfic. For fellas unaware - my M!Helaena is named Rhaegal and my F!Aegon is named Aerea.

Genderbendt Helaegon Intimacy Headcanons

⛧ To begin with, Aerea is more of an initiator. She looks to be the more dominant one, because she requires some measure of control over her sexuality and bodily autonomy as well as she struggles with the idea of relinquishing control to her little brother. She touches him more freely, grabs him by his hand or arm or waist to make him more aware of her or to tease. This is not necessarily even in a sexual context, she just reaches out to him in a way more unabashed and less careful than he does her. She also does it to tease and fuck around, planting a kiss on him out of nowhere just for people to see and for him to go red. ⛧ Rhaegal comes more into the intimacy stuff over time, but just like his female counterpart, he tends to be gentler in how he goes about things. He goes more by the rules and what's familiar so he takes longer to open up and process touches and interpert them confidently. He would fidget with his thumb over Aerea's fingers, kiss at her knuckles or top of her head, brush fingers over cheeks in gentler moments. While she's more of a person to barrage him with touch, he would hover, hands trying to decide how to hold her just right for a while before finally holding her waist firmly. ⛧ The two above hcs are, of course, in dichotomy with the fact that Rhaegal has a much bigger physique and generally stronger than Aerea. Aerea will do the initiating, she will fuck around with him to get a reaction, but she herself needs a moment to reformat her brain when he answers her touches with his own and lifts her up/keeps her in place/squeezes her in a needier way. Whether she'd tussle with him for control or let him do what he got to do depends on where we are in the timeline, heh. ⛧I imagine that Rhaegal has issues with some fabrics. Aerea likes to dress well, it's important for her not to feel of lesser value (and to an extent, she copies Rhaenyra's fashionista days to measure up) and so she has a good array of stuff she wears. When the fabrics he's not as down with are around, he'll probably dare dig his fingers under her sleeves or reach to touch her in places where she's bare (like neck or forearm) look to feel softer skin. The definition of wondering where to put his hands, but really, instincts guide. On Aerea's part, she'd flush and have to swat him away (and get back at him for getting her to react as such later). ⛧ The building tension really enters a few years into their marriage when they start to rely on each other more often. They are a very push and pull couple and they both have a hard time believing that the other would want them in that way, each for their own reasons, so when they start wanting more from each other as husband and wife they are very push and pull. When one of them puts distance, the other struggles and reaches closer. In conclusion: these bitches in denial, and testing each other until they both have no choice but reaching the conclusion that yes: I want you.

i am all for ship and let ship but there has been no more annoying and even deneraged fandom than the helaemond like imagine going after alicole, Rhaenict, helaegon , alysmond etc.. and attack them with the worst names just all over fiction because alot of them happen to not be interested in shipping the same characters as helaemonds?? not to mention their classist, ageist and misogynistic takes on Alys

Look, as you said... I'm all for ship and let ship. Only thing I dislike is when people get pushy and abusive about other's preferences.

And yes, there's a pattern I've noticed about which fans dominate this sector, but I've also seen some chill shippers.

I won't allow a bunch of poorly socialised shippers taint my perception of the few sensible ones who remain collected and respectable.

maybe it’s just me and there is nothing wrong with preferences in ships (ship whatever you want srsly) but I find it strange that more people gravitate towards aegond than to helaegon, a canon couple? I wonder if it’s because slash is usually more popular in general or because people are put off by the IMPLIED non-con aspect of helaegon? But again, Aegon is still a rapist and the non-con elements are still very much dominant in aegond. Do you think if the writers actually gave a personality to Helaena, the ship would be more popular? Incest is clearly not the “problem”.

Generally speaking, slash pairings have always been popular in fandom, whether they have a leg to stand on or not. So, even if helaegon would have been more developed, aegond would still have been popular. That being said, helaegon being so poorly developed has directly affected it popularity.

Aegon's rapist depiction notwithstanding, within aegond I've noticed that people tend to gravitate more towards Aemond being the dominant/more forceful partner.

Thank you for saying my thoughts on how they did Helaena and Aegon's characters. I'm sad that all the potential they had to be interesting characters was thrown away for some whitr-feminist storyline. It's sad, honestly.

Very sad, they had so much potential. We would dominate the fandom if we got a true version of helaegon and Aegon and Helaena as well.

Let’s be honest, they’re not really characters in the show. Aegon is a plot device for other characters to react and Helaena barely has any lines, if I’m not mistaken removing her prophecy lines she probably has two lines? Young and older Helaena combined.
